1. Tengu
2. Kodan
3. Some sort of an Elf race, High-Elf prob. I would LOVE to have Elven characters… ohh my god.. Best race ever!

I think the Sylvari are the closest we will ever get to an Elf race. It’s for the same reasons they didn’t bring back the dwarves as a playable race. They kinda want to stay away from the typical fantasy races for the playables.

Other than Humans of course… >.>

Also “Rome” happened thousands of years ago. Even if it’s a saying..should we still use it in our day and time? It’s kinda reminiscent of how the game development’s speed don’t u think?

Yes. Even with modern day technology, that adage still very much applies. Because where technology advances in complexity, so does the projects it can be used in.

If they were using any sort of realistic time set for the rebuilding, I wouldn’t be all that surprised if its going to take 1-2+ years.

  • The removing of the wreckage of the Breachmaker alone will take months if not a full year, since they have to dismantle it piece by piece and bring in heavy equipment to pull the pieces out of the water.
  • Housing development, or any sort of structurally development really, will take just as long. They have to clear the land first and foremost, fill in all holes and/or faults the laser cannons and explosives caused, make sure that land is stable, and they then can either lay foundation or just start building. A ramshackle house might be able to be put up in a day, but anything beyond that will probably take a week to a month. (Depending on how large a work force, materials, and funding to pay the workers of course.)
  • LA’s farmland and waterways might have to be periodically checked and cleansed of any poisons the TA might have introduced.
  • Talks with the citizens and refugee groups will have to happen. The rebuilding will probably displace some people from where they use to live and commendations will have to be made.

And the cherry to top all of that, depending on just how the Captain’s Council might like to run things, any of those listed above might need permits. Permits as far as the eye can see.

Funny you should say that. The models the Tengu use are just reskinned Charr models.

Euthanizing the Quaggan species?

they just look like they shouldn’t sound ‘human’ and I’m not really sure I can explain/quantify it better than that :S (specifically the Quaggan and Grawl). Their voice is not creature like, they just sound like people trying and failing to put on a funny voice, it kind of speaks to the unfortunately lighthearted tone of GW2.

For races that look like they shouldn’t sound human, I think the Hylek suffers from that much more than the Quaggan or Grawl do. Given the sheer size of their mouth, throat, and possibly their vocal cords, I think they voices should be much much lower in pitch.

Not to mention how they mouths only just barely opens and closes when they talk. It’s a miracle that they can vocalize the “b”, “p”, and “v” sounds.

Why didn't the Pact try this against Zhaitan?

in Lore

Posted by: Erukk.1408

Erukk.1408

Corruption of the living aside, Zhaitan does use corpses for his minions(the Corpse Ark proves this.) and Necromancers have magical power over the dead. So a conglomeration of powerful Necromancers should have the potential to return the basic minions of Zhaitan to their dead state, thus pacifying them. Stronger minions, those who received Zhaitans Premium Package deal, would possibly be a different matter since they have a conscious mind and a limit amount of free will.
Also, the Risen Abominations are little more then Necro Minions 2.0, they are corpses fused together and resurrected. They show about the same amount of brainpower of a Necro’s minions.

They might be both using dead being, but the magics used to control and animate them are completely different. Necromancers use death magic, and Elder Dragons use a their own brand of magic, as I linked above, it’s “ancient, powerful, and barely understood by the greatest magical minds on Tyria.”

Necromancers trying to work their magic on Risen would be like us trying to play a PS game on Xbox, or visa versa. Incompatible software.

Why didn't the Pact try this against Zhaitan?

in Lore

Posted by: Erukk.1408

Erukk.1408

The average Risen and necromancy might mostly share the “(un)dead” part, only because it’s Zhaitan’s preference for minion, but any similarities between the two kinda break down past that, and the key to those differences lies in the magic used to actually corrupt/turn things into dragon minions.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/lore/lore/New-lore-interview-to-Anet-lore-team/first#post4226670

  • What is the exact process by which someone is corrupted by a dragon? Is there any way to protect yourself from dragon corruption or repel it?

The magic Elder Dragons use to corrupt things is ancient, powerful, and barely understood by the greatest magical minds on Tyria. There have been spells that could successfully cleanse a living thing of dragon corruption (see the Ruined City of Arah dungeon’s Forgotten path, or the climax of the Pact’s campaign in Orr) but they are not well understood, require significant resources to cast, and must be cast in a particular geographic location, so they are not universally available.

I always preferred Forgal and Sieran more. I never really understood the fascination with Tybalt. He was a funny character, maybe a bit too funny, especially during missions, and that made him feel out of place in the entire OoW motif for me, and that threw me off the OoW storyline a bit. It didn’t make it bad, just off.

Forgal’s and Sieran’s storylines were a bit more understandable, being a gruff soldier and excitable academic respectively. Tybalt’s, on the other hand, felt like a dollop of Whedonverse landed in Tyria. Again, not bad, but it feel like a game of “One of these things is not like the other…”

Mordremoth would obvious be the Elder Dragon Princess.

His smooth deep singing voice would have the magical effect of enslaving the fuzzy woodland creatures (and plant folk) of the land to do his bidding.

I wouldn’t call Cartographer grindy at all either. You’re not doing anything over and again; once you explore the area you don’t need to come back. Don’t confuse “grindy” and “difficult” on that title. Maybe you just don’t like exploring and running at walls.

Not doing anything over and over again?

Race Concept: A Race to be Hated

in Living World

Erukk.1408

I very much doubt the mortals would ever ally themselves to an Elder Dragons or their minions is any major way. The soul purpose an Elder Dragon seems to have is to consume magic—- until they can consume no more, and their minion’s motives is to help in anyway they can. They might have other motivating factors, but the consumption of magic is how the Elder Dragons live and stay active.

This wouldn’t be so much of a program if it wasn’t for the fact that all of Tyria, including all the mortal races, is imbued with magic. One way of the other, everything is on the buffet table for them.

On a side note, the theory that Kralk desires perfections originated from Konig, I believe. It has nothing to really deal with art or visually appealing objects or structures. It’s more along the lines of Kralk trying to become a “complete being” as it were. Or as Konig put it, “In other words, Kralkatorrik is attempting to obtain all that he is not yet. And when one obtains everything, they become “perfect.”

Yeah, but I sort of thought you still wouldn’t take a leave of absence the day before a major update. It might not change his mind but he could take a gander before heading off.

“Major update” Lol okay.

Good thing other people like Wooden Pototos, who actually tried it says it’s a major update. Sometimes an update is greater than the sum of its parts. This is a major update for the game, even if some people can’t see it.

I think people are just still hung up on the differences between features and content. It’s a major game update, but since they don’t view features as meaningful as content, no matter how difficult or troublesome they are to program and install sometimes, it doesn’t count as anything major to them.

It works both ways. Think of it like you’re a child who runs into grown-up businessmen in a conference hall and they get extremely annoyed by you. It may turn out that tomorrow they may wander into your kindergarten and will annoy you and your friends. And in 30 years you’ll likely become that grown-up who’s annoyed by children. So just try to be considerate and go play with your own type of people without accusing anyone, okay?

The difference being that the “child” would run into a conference hall full of “businessmen” because it might be fun and they don’t know any better. The only way a “businessmen” wanders into a kindergarten is because s/he purposely goes in with intent.

here’s the thing… you’d assume “zerker only ap+ only” are elitist…. but you wouldn’t imagine elitists that take joy in making fun of everything you do in a friendly sounding group name that seemed like they just wanted to relax and have fun… Went in expecting fun, and was mocked for 30 minutes straight.

From what it sounds like, from this end anyway, the group description was a bit misleading. OP thought we was grouping up with like minded relaxed people, but instead he went into a room full of “businessmen” because they didn’t advertise “Businessmen Only-No Children”.

You always had to calculate it. Before this update the 10% tax that is taken when the item actually sell wasn’t showing. It just displayed the listing fee which is 5%
Now it show both but doesn’t do the total.

This problem is in no way unique to GW2, and all MMOs, or any game really, suffers from it, because players will always be able to complete content faster than the developers can make it.

Them spacing it out allows them to get a better read on our views on the subject, because if they only did a big info dump a week or so ago, some topics might have been left out of most discussions because they are easily overshadowed by others.

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Erukk.1408

Erukk.1408

Well they’ve had over 2 years already. That’s enough time to develop two expansions, or one really big one. That’s how it worked with GW1. Right after Prophecies, they started working on Factions, and then Nightfall, and then Eye of the North.

Instead they chose to develop the Living Story, which has been of very mixed quality, and is a lot of content that is temporary. They could have used that time to expand the game with permanent content.

GW2 can’t pull of what GW1 did in this day and age. It’s only been a short amount of years, but the cost to build any sort of high quality MMO has gone up. People can keep on trying to hold up GW1 as an example of how things should be done, but budget wise, and I’m sure coding wise as well, they are two different beasts.

And unless you are suggesting a subscription fee, that doesn’t really answer the question. There needs to be something to fund and pay the developers with in between expansions, because on top of the expansion they would be working on in the background, they will have to work on the content patches, server maintenance, bug fixes, general balance issue, and etc. to release in-between the expansions as well.

The money from the expansion sales might be able to pay a chuck of the developers year round, but I doubt it would be able to fund everyone.
