Tequatl, people guesting on our server for the kill forcing me to have to wait a long time in the map or be thrown on an overflow map. I am sorry, but I do not feel like waiting an hour or more in order to play a part of the game is fun and therefore I will not do it.
I wish the guests on a homeworld would be thrown of a map when the players of that homeworld want to play on that map. I understand that this is not technically easy or might not even be possible.
So my hopes of killing him even though my own homeworld kills him regularly are very low. You could say I need to prioritize. If I really wanted the kill I should wait and put in the time needed. But how can you tell people to wait for more than an hour in order to play that part of the game? I really don’t understand that.
I am not sure how many feel like me and I am pretty sure it only feels like a ghosttown when thrown on a fresh overflow. But I am not really bothering with him for the time being.
I usually solve it by leaving guild and have someone invite me again. In my case as a GM this means making an officer GM for a minute and he bumps himself downs again. This fixed it. And in this way I learned a new thing:
You cannot access guild bank unless you have been in the guild for 72 hours. I guess this to prevent a lot of scamming to happen. Now I am the GM of my guild without access to my own guilbank ;-) . Not really a problem for me at the moment, but something to take into account with respect with this bug, as leaving the guild is no longer a real viable option for fixing it.
Just imagine what would happen, as everyone is able to get a commander title. I would disable that chat channel immediately and I expect the majority will. So not really worth the development time and effort.
If you don’t have time to complete one of these releases, how can you possibly complete them all after they start piling up, if Arena.net suddenly decides to make them permanent?
I do have the time to complete them. I have completed most but SAB last year as it is not my cup of tea. I might have another look this year. But there is no break to catch your breath. You keep rushing from one living story straight into the other and have to plan to get it all done. So when they become permanent I would still finish them, but not have to rush it like crazy at the moment.
Anyway lowering the pace would be beneficial for a lot of players, whether the content would become permanent or not. If they stick to the same formula, but with longer time between releases that would work better for us already.
Haven’t they said they were also an extremely rare chance drop from whatever drops ascended stuff? (and that counts in fractals)
However that extremely rare chance usually means precursor-grade rarity. Which is not really related to effort but just to luck.
In my year of playing I have never seen an precursor drop, but those are tradeable. Ascended weapons are account bound. So the rare drop is not really an option in my book (ofcourse keeping my fingers crossed while saying this).
I hope they will implement more options for obtaining them in the future as they did with the rings and accessories. I hope this is the first patch to introduce them similar to rings being introduced in fractals only at first, and that they will increase the options horizontally in the future.
I do like events/festivals that are yearly like SAB, as you always have another shot at them again if you missed out. But doing living story that will be gone forever does feel very rushed and sometimes make me enjoy the living story much less than I could. Specially at this high pace. Which is a pity seeing how much effort they put in.
I would like it much more if they focussed on yearly events/festivals, adding content that stays and add quality of life updates like they already do.
So I did read the message in the release notes, but did not see the new message that the change was taken back. Therefore, I used close to 1 million karma this morning without boosting them, as according to the release notes they would no longer be affected by that. I am rather frustrated by this being changed back, as I now learn boosters would have helped for another 2 weeks…
@Wallace; Origionally I wanted the extra three slots to get one of every class. Then I needed an extra one because I didn’t want to count my ‘selfy’ character.. And then it kept growing and growing… And at one point I was counting towards to of every class. But lost count with my new four babies. We’ll see~ |D
Nice to find out that I am not the only one calling my low level alts babies! Currently I have 18 characters, with plans for number 19. I am not yet sure where it will end for me. And yes, I do play them all.
Edit: A bit more info incoming. 9 of them are level 80 and currently leveling an engineer next. 8 characters have finished the personal story. My profession breakdown looks like: 2 elementalists, 2 thiefs, 3 engineers, 3 necromancers, 3 mesmers, 2 warriors, 2 rangers and 1 guardian with number 19 planning on becoming a guardian.

Ok, I might sound like a real noob, but what is this “meta”? Judging from the context it sounds something like fotm (flavour/favourite of the month) to me. Can someone please explain?
When I receive a mail from a player it goes to my account. When I receive mail from ANet it goes to my characters most of the times. I would love for ANet to make mails go to my account (deleting 18 mails that point out they added a wallet to the game…).
We might get less tickets in total from the mail, but the added flexibility immediately negates that.
Please ANet, please make your mails go to my account (like when buying an item in the gem store). You have proven you can do it. It saves me deleting so many mails on every living story as well, which is getting a tiny bit annoying and we can have items like tickets account bound instead, which makes the gauntlet so much more enjoyable.
The GS literally offers NOTHING. Anyone who uses it in Dungeons or even assumes it’s a good choice is a bad player.
Quite a few in my guild (including myself) are bad players then. Yet we have fun and complete dungeons. I am happy to be a bad player in this case.
Please, when we prefer something because we enjoy the combat of it, don’t refer to us as bad players. Because we are not. You can make your point about other weapons being stronger/having better utility without resorting to that. You will find more people will agree with you much faster, when you put it like that.
And no, you don’t have to play with us and we don’t have to play with you. Make groups of players that you get along with. Just as us calling your group elitism is not fun (and I feel ashamed when that happens by other casual players), your group calling us bad players is not fun either.
Given my concern for screen clutter, and since the display of my titles is not optionally viewable by others, I choose to never to display a title. It seems like the responsible thing to do.
I had the same reaction the day that was introduced. Until they add a button in the options to make titles shown optional, I will not show a title.
I dislike Liadra for not being able to one-shot the orb with ranged because it is bugged. This caused a number of unfortunate deaths for me, due to the orb pulling me into the aoe. And that is only the bug, not talking about gimmicky already mentioned by others in this thread (camera angle, hard to see aoe with the floor texture etc.). Next to that I would like for challenging content to not be temporary. I might not be good enough to finish it now, but I might be good enough at some point later on!
Other then that I did not kill her yet and I don’t want the rewards because of that and I do not feel entitled to them. But bugged challenging temporary content, yes I can see why people are complaining. But there are still a few weeks to go, so finger crossed for a hot-fix!
This change will get me back into keg brawl. I like mini-games. Not just one of them. I like some better than others, but overall I like the difference in them and the complete change from normal gameplay. But when there is no reason for me to play I did not join them. Specially keg brawl. It was played with such a small amount of people that used a lot of exploits that really spoiled the fun. I will play it again when it is the daily as I expect a lot more people to try and therefore the amount of exploits in a game to go down.
I can see why the keg brawl fans don’t like this change. But don’t say that the other side of the coin does not exist, because I am one of the people on the other side of that coin.
I’m going to say they don’t exist still, because you made what I perceive to be a very naive assessment of the content. I’ve pointed out in this thread before that time limited content encourages farmers. Of course, it’s speculation, but why would people all of a sudden think that they can come in and enjoy the game more if they didn’t enjoy it before. All of the same problems, from lobbing to achievement farming, are still there, and will only get worse. Furthermore, the people who never liked Keg Brawl in the first place are not all of a sudden jumping out of their seats to play it.
This system is not about dailies. It’s about one mini game being the only mini game you can even play at a time. I don’t actually think there are gonna be ways to do these mini games for the daily anymore since neither of the two that already appeared supported one.
If a lot more people try, but not many of them enjoy it because it’s a bug ridden and exploited mess, then why would they stay to play normally or not just join the exploiters themselves. After all, they now have a lot less total time opportunity to get those achievement points, so farming is heavily encouraged by this update.
I do see your point as stated that I do understand why the fans dislike it. And no I am not naive to see what the change is. I understand it time gates content that you enjoy. For me it makes that content more fun and accessible. And not only because of the exploits (sad that that can be used as an argument in this case, they should fix it in my opinion too). Keg brawl is not as active as you make it out to be. Atleast not when I played. So I stopped out of it being boring with only 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2.
More people are going to try it again or for the first time. And because of that the experience will be more fun. The maps will be more full and you will see more different people. I gave up on the game not because of the exploits.
So yes, there are people who did not play and who will play it again due to this change as I know I will be. So I am sorry, but there are people on the other side of the coin, but I think overall the game (GW2, not keg brawl) will benefit from this change.
And I think your assessment is a bit limited if you do not include the daily. The daily changed to doing an activity per day. With the activity changing per day, people will find themselves doing keg brawl. Most of the people I know did not go out of their way to do the keg brawl daily, specially not with the experience we had from it, where we will do it when the daily activity is keg brawl now. Quite a few in my guild will do this, so no I am not alone either. With everyone just playing one game per day for just the daily is already going to increase the amount of players massively which is going to improve the experience (still they should fix most of it).
I understand this change is not beneficial for you, but it does not mean it is not benifical for others either.
This change will get me back into keg brawl. I like mini-games. Not just one of them. I like some better than others, but overall I like the difference in them and the complete change from normal gameplay. But when there is no reason for me to play I did not join them. Karma being account wide is really nice for me personally! Was always hoping for that.
The amount of uproar about a few gold (so far 3 gold is the highest I have seen) is amazing. People want it because someone else gets a few coins for free. It is pure jealousy.
(Just try to be happy for those players who got something out of it.)
We happened to be with a group of players and she did heal but one time we got her down in the window before more hatchlings spawned. It is a group event I think and very hard to solo. Never managed that myself.
How about the spider boss in…jeez the zone with Muldor centaur dude…The spider that gets healed by the little spiders that spawn?
I want to say Harathi Highlands…
Anyone know what champ Im talking about?
Yes, killed her this weekend for you ;-) . Harathi is correct.
I do not like the two week window for content additions.
Having to rush the content before it is removed makes said content less enjoyable for me, so I agree with you.
I had the exact same experience on a level appropriate character. I was there in time for the kill as I just happened to be leveling in that area of the map, but due to the “champion dying”/“events being finished” so fast I was unable to put in enough damage on mobs in order to be registered for the kill/event.
Which MMORPG’s have you played?
Where is guildwars 2 in that list of answers? ;-)
Not here to show off, but I think GW2 monthly achievement should be made tougher. It shouldn’t be achievable within 12 hours. NOT AT ANY COST.
Why not? 12 hours of only focusing on the monthly is quite a bit in my opinion.
Seriously, has anyone ended up getting married to someone they met in game, a mmo or any other game? Just out of curiousity…and to expand the topic…
That actually happens quite often, but not often from a thread like this.
Well for the select few thats why i said MAJORITY lol
Because the others did not post their hours played, it does not automatically mean they are well below 2K hours. Your assumption is just that, an assumption.
I am closing in on the 2K myself, I am just a bit below.
My guild, collecting dyes and playing all my characters. Maybe even in that order of importance. I do love festivals too so this month living story also helps me log.
I catch myself talking back to some of the repetitive stuff.
“This so called farmer just punched me in the face.”
Sometimes I actually say out loud, “So what?”
“Ha! Your kidding right!?”
Sometimes I say, “What the kitten do you think?”
:)
Haha, I do this when my boyfriend is playing his asura elementalist and she shouts “air!” enthusiastically when attunement swapping. Almost every time I go “What about Eir?”.
I like chatty characters, because they are more lively for me. Ofcourse if it breaks the personality you made up for them it can be annoying for you. Some things are better than others ofcourse (human males can get on my nerves, but luckily I don’t play those). Sometimes it really helps with gameplay, when people outside your party say things like “help please”, you try to send a heal that way or look behind your back for downed players. Some builds are more chatty than others too and it can be real funny to find/hear a new line of text.
A week or so ago the sky in Kessex Hills. I was at the edge of a rain cloud. I could actually walk into and out of the rain. The sky was nicely dramatic as well. In previous games I only encountered zone wide weather.
I don’t like RNG boxes, but I do love the new weapon skins. However, I will not buy the RNG boxes to have a bigger chance at the weapon skins, because I don’t agree with the way they are implemented.
But what I don’t understand either, is why the tickets have to be account bound? It makes the RNG even that more painful. Someone who might not be interested in the skins can be lucky and get multiple tickets that they will delete, where those who really like them just happen to miss out due to bad luck. Why not make those tickets or the weapons tradeable so everyone has a chance of getting them if only by paying a lot of gold on the TP? I can think of one reason why, fewer boxes to be sold…
I am not sure if this is going to hurt them in the long run. Yeah, it will upset a few people who will stop buying. But the majority of RNG box purchases are most likely from people who don’t mind.
But RNG on top of a time limit on top of account bound, that stings. Did since they started with it and still does now.
Spam to me is repeatedly sending the same message in a short period of time.
It is not only the repeating messages, but also the context of a message that can make something spam. For example a gold selling message is spam, even if it is put in chat just once. It is rather subjective though at times.
Seconded… I see people throw a kitten fit in map chat about this quite frequently now and have no idea why… so the text is another color… big deal.
I am not one that throws a fit, but happily put those on ignore/report. It is not the colour, but spam in any colour is annoying.
Or they could just change the cultural armour to that of the same tier of the newly chosen race.
Hello,
We (Modern Family) play on Desolation, but I am not sure we are the kind of guild you are looking for. We do not have guild teams for spvp and focus mainly on the pve side of the game. However, if you do spvp by yourself and are mainly looking for a guild for the pve side of the game with some WvW thrown into the mix, then we might be a fit. I think it is best if you have a look at our guild recruitment post to judge if we are the kind of guild you are looking for. Please be adviced that we are a medium sized guild, so we are still in the process of unlocking all guild missions (guild rushes unlocked yesterday).
Goodluck finding a guild that suits you.
i have some friends that play gw2 that doesnt come to the game anymore because they have nothing to do in the game
I think this is everyone’s friend list atm. Mine is a ghost town most of the time these days, but don’t get discouraged. Stick it out for a while longer, I have a feeling we may be getting some content with some meat on it coming down the pipe soon.
I try to give MMO’s the benefit of the doubt these days. I’m giving Anet a few more months of me doing the daily and WvW. By then they should have more in game for us to do I believe.
Maybe you just make friends that play the same way you do. And I make friends that play the same way I do, because my friends list hasn’t substantially changed at all…except that it’s grown. Most of the people here at launch are still here.
How much do they pay you by the way? I may change my tone if the price is right too.
If they paid me, I probably wouldn’t work this hard. That’s like asking a football fan how much the team pays him to be a fan. Silly question when you think about it.
Almost as silly as you butting into every conversation like a bull hellbent on forcing everyone to agree with you that this game is the best thing since sliced bread and the second coming of Jesus Christ. It gets old, and for a an oldie you sure do act like a petty child all day about video games.
Oh noes people don’t like the game I like, time to completely lose my mind and froth at the mouth for a few hours!
This post is just “the pot calling the kettle black”. Even while that kettle might not be that black at all.
Hello Shmoo,
We (Modern Family) are a medium sized guild with about 30 members so that people get to know eachother. We play on Desolation. Our members mainly focus on the PvE side of the game. We have weekly WvW night, guild mission night and dungeon night of which none are mandatory to attent. Outside those more dungeon runs are being done. Once a month we have a social guild meeting where we boost your karma jugs, take screenshots and do a fun activity along the lines of hide and seek, snowball fights etc. etc. We also have a member who organises contests.
You can find a bit more information on our website.
Feel free to contact me here or in game on Esya.3427 in case you have any questions or are interested.
I find this website more user friendly, but both work.
Sounds like our guild could be a great fit for you. We (Modern Family) are a medium sized guild on Desolation with about 30 members so that everyone knows eachother. We focus mainly on the PvE side of the game and our guild chat is crazy. We have weekly WvW nights, guild mission runs and dungeon nights of which none are mandatory to attent. Outside those a lot of dungeon runs are done when people feel like doing them. We also have a monthly social event where we boost your karma jugs, take screenshots and do a fun activity.
You can find more information on our website.
Feel free to contact me here or in game on Esya.3427 in case you have more questions or are interested.
We (Modern Family) play on Desolation and are just what you are looking for. We have a roster of about 30 members so that everyone gets to know eachother, while still being able to get groups to get things done. We have quite a few females in the guild (myself included) and try to make it a home for all our members.
We have weekly WvW, dungeon and guild mission nights of which none are mandatory to attent. Once a month we have a social guild meet up where we boost karma jugs, take guild screenshots and do a fun activity along the lines of contests, hide and seek, snowball fights etc.
We have a few in the guild who are great at jumping puzzles and love doing them, a few who are bad at them and love doing them, a few who are ok with them and hate doing them. We don’t mind as long as you are having fun.
You can find more information on our website.

Hello Elexa,
We (Modern Family) are not on Piken Square but on Desolation. So if you are willing to transfer, you could consider us. Ofcourse you can have a trial with us before making that decision.
On top of that we are not new, but many years old. We go back to WoW and played Rift together. All the time we have been welcoming to new members though. However, you would be noticed and not ignored!
We are a medium sized guild with about 30 members so that people get to know eachother better. We have weekly guild events like dungen runs, guild missions and WvW nights. Outside those there are many dungeon runs done. Once a month we have a social guild meet up to hang out together and do something silly.
You can find more information about us on our website.
Goodluck finding a guild that you can call home.
Due to my new account I can’t send a private message yet but I did try messaging you Esya.
I am interested though but I guess i’ll have to try and catch you in game, thanks!
I sent you a PM and tried to whisper you in game, however you do not seem to be fully logged into the gameworld? This could be a bug or maybe you did not create a character yet and played that? Trying to see what is going on that prevents us from whispering. If you create a character and play with that, we should be able to send tells.
Hello Iahna,
We (Modern Family) happen to play on Desolation as well and are looking for a few new members. We are a medium sized guild with about 30 members so that people get to know eachother. It still allows us to get all the events done. We have weekly guild events like WvW, guild missions and dungeon night, of which none are obligated to attend. Next to that we organise a social event once per month where we boost karma jugs, take screenshots and do a fun activity.
You can find some additional information on our website. If you have more questions or are interested feel free to contact me here or in game on Esya.3427
Hello Wooli,
Sadly, we are not on Underworld and I understand your dilemma. I could offer you a trial period during which you can guest with us, however after the trial period we do require our members to transfer to our server (in this case Desolation).
Our guild is called Modern Family and we are a medium sized guild with around 30 members to ensure that people are able to get to know eachother while still getting things done. We have weekly guild events without any obligation to attend any including a weekly WvW guild run on Monday. Usually we are with less than 10 people trying to get things done with the guild group. We don’t use commanders to not create a zerg on our own. Outside this the guild mainly focuses on PvE, so there is plenty of time and room for you to roam in WvW by yourself.
You can find a bit more information on our website.
Feel free to contact me here or in game on Esya.3427 in case you have more questions or are interested in a trial period.
But are you in the EU or the US? What timezone?
Sorry, just read your edit ;-) .
I am not sure what kind of guild you are looking for, so see for yourself if it is anything you would be interested in.
We are Modern Family and play on Desolation. We aim to keep our roster at a medium size with approximately 30 members. This allows us to get to know eachother well, while still being able to get things done. We have weekly WvW, Dungeon and Guild Mission (guild bounty and guild trek currently unlocked, guild rushes soon) nights. Once a month we have a social guild event where we boost your karma jugs, take a screenshot for the website and do a fun activity.
You can have a look at our website for a bit more information. Feel free to contact me here or in game (Esya.3427) if you have any further questions or are interested.

That’s something completely different imo. I agree with you and like I said imo the end-content is ok. But that does not mean that someone who misses that part is somehow trying to fill the “void, and meaninglessness of his/her life” or something. He might but who am I do say when I don’t know the person.
I hate it when someone depreciates my ideas and wishes as “you want everything handed to you, you got no skill etc…” But I think that kind of assumtions is doing the same to “the other side”.
I do agree, but I do think that a lot of people do not know how to play anymore. And they might not be trying to fill “the void and meaningless of his/her life”, but I often feel that what is there is not valued. Sometimes I do it myself, being trapped by the carrot on the stick. Playing because I feel I want the reward rather than playing to have fun (hello daily laurel!). I have not done SAB because it was not fun for me, but it took me a real change in mindset in order to do so. It meant missing out on achievement points, titles and weapon skins. But why playing for the reward if the content is not enjoyable to you?
I feel a lot of people “complaining” about end-game content play for the rewards mainly. Ofcourse not all of them and it is just my limited view.
I am not sure what kind of discussion the OP aimed for. If it was kitchen psychology, discussing end-game or a request to discuss your opinion in a civil way. But this is what sparked in my mind while reading it.
We finished guild bounties with 10 people. Where it is hard with 5 people, with 10 it is very doable. Ofcourse as the targets are random you can still fail. If you are only after 2 commendations a week and not after guild merits, you do not need to do a successfull guild bounty.
So if you are only after the commendation I advice to build the highest tier guild bounties (tier 3), pick the easiest target on the list and kill that. Only one kill is needed for the weekly chest with 2 commendations.
If you want to try and finish a guild bounty do the lowest tier one. Not the training mission, this one only rewards guild influence and no weekly chest and has a very long building time. Our tactic is to go look and kill the easiest of the 2 targets first and then the more difficult one. In this way in case we fail the guild mission, we still have our commendations.
Are you trying to say that people need to learn to play? I feel a lot of people do not know how to play anymore. Interesting website about why kids have fun playing while we have not.
I would buy the book if it were unlocked emotes on my account as suggested by Meglobob and not another slot eating item to handle between alts. At the moment I did not buy it yet solely for this reason.
The option to block the incoming requests would make quite a few people happy too I can imagine.
Could we please try to keep this on-topic and about the roleplaying aspect? The OP might have brought up suggestions that might not help the roleplay community, but are more of a game wide suggestion. However, what would you like to see for a better roleplaying experience?
I am not a roleplayer myself, but I do feel that emotes are lacking. Also I would like to see some town clothes available in the game and not limited to the gem store. And I did not understand why GW2 was not released with a roleplaying server. I am not sure if you need a strict policy on those with staff policing, but I do see the benefits of a roleplay server with a more strict naming policy where GMs can respond to reports on naming.
