You would have to do a lot less back-tracking and clarifying things to save face if your original post didn’t make you sound like an arrogant, whiny brat. Mixing in a some valid points with other, much less valid points does not soften it any.
Right now it is hard to tell whether or not you actually act/think the way you are “clarifying” based on reading your original post in its entirety and the response from one of your mates which, quite honestly, did nothing but make you both look like pricks.
In any case, it might be cool to have a sticky about etiquette. However, this thread certainly shouldn’t be the one.
Completely agree. I can’t believe some people are asking this be stickied. If you do sticky it, sticky it as an example of somebody who you shouldn’t run dungeons with. This is way too controlling, not to mention some of it is just bad info.
Eh, I’m with Vol. Not everybody is meant to have a legendary. You don’t need one, it’s nice to have.
I am sick and tired of people saying this. Everybody who wants a legendary can have one. There is no skill requirement involved, just money.
In fact the most efficient way to get a legendary is to never leave Lions Arch, to play the TP and to buy all of the components.
The devs who designed the “Legendary” aquisition process should be hanging their heads in shame because there is nothing legendary about it.
“Everybody who wants a legendary can have one”
Yes, that is absolutely true and I never said the opposite. In the real world, everybody can have a Ferrari too. However this requires either getting lucky or hard work. You can win the lottery, or you can put in a lot of hard work and hours to get this. Not everybody is meant to have a Ferrari.
The precursor is a super low drop rate because its… well… “legendary” and they don’t want everybody to be running around one. The issue is that there is very very very little supply but everybody and their mother wants a legendary.
@the guy who called me elitist. I don’t want a legendary. I don’t care about them. I just like to play with friends in WvW and dungeons. I only have around 100-200gold across all characters (big range because I have some mats stored up and I have 4 80s). My max level in FoTM is 12… so yeah, I’m super elite.
Eh, I’m with Vol. Not everybody is meant to have a legendary. You don’t need one, it’s nice to have.
Anyway, this should be locked soon as quitting/good bye posts aren’t allowed.
This is completely dumb and the reason why the elitists who say this just don’t get it. He has everything but the precursor, which is too reliant on RNG. He has every right to a legendary. I don’t think using the mystic forge is the smartest thing to do but that was the original way to get a precursor. Why should random chance stand in the way of him getting this item that supposedly shows off a mastery of the game?
Hahahahahaha, you pretty much called me an elitist. That’s cute.
thief if you actually like having fun. If not then go guard, war, or mes
Hahahaha, nice one. Wait… are you serious?
Both are great choices. Both provide amazing utility and support to any party, no matter what the circumstances are. I would rather have 3 guardians in my party than 3 mesmers. However I would rather have 1 mesmer in my party than 1 guardian. Not going into it anymore than that lol.
The only other thing I’d like to mention is that guardian will be a lot easier to understand and I’m pretty sure stays strong at all levels. Mesmer, complicated and doesn’t hit great potential until 40 or so.
annoyed? i actually get complimented on it more often than you’d think. personally i think it’s the best combination. orchid and maroon is nice too.
I like your color combinations but dude, you need to block out chat as there are expletives and names of players before you’re infracted.
On-topic: I saw a huge norn at tequatl who was completely multi-colored. I don’t know how he did it, but he looked like a piece of candy. Pink shoulder, yellow shoulder, black mid-section, bright green boot, bright blue pants. Looked hilarious, unfortunately, no SS
is there any sigils or runes or somthin to help ya run faster?
Runes: Centaur and Air
Sigils: Whatever the name of the one that procs swiftness on kill (only like 2-3 seconds)
Edit: Thanks to Hawk for the correction on duration. I’m assuming I was thinking of rare sigil then.
(edited by Ethics.4519)
Nope, my main is a mesmer, I’m fully aware of that.
You know, I was incredibly close to saying “And I’m sure maestro will pick a ranger or engineer so he can say ‘Hey look! We had a ranger/an engineer!’” But you know.
This test still proves nothing to me as you already know my core issue, which is with Anet. I just wanna see how this turns out now. I just don’t want this to be “Hey look, we did it on our 35 experienced alts so this dungeon is at the right difficulty”
In all honesty, good luck, should be an interesting video whether you succeed or fail.
I think you’ve plain lost sight of what exactly was agreed to be proven.Dictating terms and micro-managing stipulations is simply a ploy to unsettle the individuals from doing the test in he first place, who volunteered their time I might add.
In fact, if you had any reading comprehension above a 4th grade level, you’d know that I’m admitting just the opposite. Maestro and I have discussed that I see the issue as more with what Anet is intending, and not Maestro’s actual claim. I’ve also already apologize to Maestro for being too harsh in the beginning.
So you want to counter your maturity of apologizing for misstating something by insulting someone else who wasn’t being rude? Don’t care what apology you may have made as I didn’t read the thread that sparked this one and only skimmed this one, but all in all I say you come out behind.
Snark begets snark, although I haven’t quipped back with anything to that tone. And your reply to the party make up was definitely snark.
You join in the middle of the conversation without knowing the full story, and insult me directly. I never misstated anything. My apology is to Maestro, not you. You deserve the snarkiness I implied and then some. You have become severely off-topic and no longer will receive my snarky replies, after this one of course.
@Ethics.4519
I guess it depends on implementation. If the outmanned buffs gives useful buffs like +5% HP or something like that it could be shown.
I think being outmanned should give you some help with buffs. Being outmanned doesn’t mean your server is bad in general. It can also mean that during night times another server is lucky to have a strong “night crew” while others don’t.
In such situations a helpful buff would be great to at least help defenders keep their main fort during nights. But even a +5% HP buff won’t really help. +% HP on walls/doors/siege while being outmanned would be useful. That buff could stack the more outmanned you are. Like half people offers +50% HP on walls/doors/siege. 20% less people offers +20% HP.
That would probably not change how the fights end but it would take longer and help defenders to keep at least some towers/forts.
This is just an example what I mean with helpful buffs. They can be anything – they should just be useful. On the other side if the outmanned buff its completely useless for fights as it is now don’t show it to the other teams.
That makes a little more sense than the other people screaming “GIVE ME MORE DPS!”. I don’t think the outmanned buff should effect your personal player at all in combat. It just seems to penalize the other server for your server not being active and WvWing.
However, to your point, I think giving doors and walls +5% health or siege +5% damage seems more acceptable. It helps the strategy aspect game a little more, rather than just “I want more badges” aspect.
If you want to travel quickly, don’t rely on focus swiftness alone. Use Blink and Phase Retreat (from staff) as well. To use Phase Retreat, do a quick 180 turn and cast the ability while you’re not targeting any enemies, then turn around again and continue running.
And of course, as others said, there’s always runes of centaur.
@ Esplen: Ranger used to be 10%, but that signet was buffed to 25% a while back. The tooltip still says 10% though I believe.
I’m aware of these. I usually don’t run with blink on unless I’m portal bombing. Call it a blessing or a curse, but mesmers have so many amazing utilities I can’t pick 3 lol. I run decoy, mirror images/portal, and veil. If I portal bomb I change decoy to blink.
Also, I don’t think you have to face the target to use number 2. I’m rpetty sure you can just run past it and it will work, but then won’t that lower my speed by being in combat? I haven’t really tried it as I’ve been running GS + Sword/Focus. But with the recent nerf/bug to izerker I’ll probably change GS to staff, and go a little more tank when I get new gear
and even gets a bit snarky,
This is why he is one of my favorite devs to read, along with Robert. Robert because of his honesty and helpfulness, Jon because of his I don’t care what you tell HR attitude =)
And back on topic:
I read the title and thought “uh…duh”
I think you also get them from map completion no?
Gem Store
Black Lion Chest
Daily Achievements
Map completion
Yes, I know
Yes, I know
Yes, I know
Okay ty, as this was the only thing I asked
I completely agree with Ralena and Vassar. They are ridiculous. They are hard enough as is, and last time I did AC story, twice they were far apart, bugged, and teleport right on top of each other. Then, no matter how many boulders I threw, they would just fall down and not get a knock back. The only thing that dungeon taught me was that boulders are OP
Well, they do teleport back to each other when one of them hits like, 50% health? And must be separated again.
However, pull mechanics are HORRIBLE in that fight, and often will not cause them to move, only to be knocked down.
So do you do you think the dungeon redesign that I mentioned would be better or worse than what it is now? Easy would be barely more difficult than story mode. Medium would be about what it is now (for some dungeons) and hard would be around arah path difficulty 1&4
No one is allowed to lead RET without a quaggan backpack
Kindele leads without one!! However I heard she just got a Charr Backpack so I guess that kinda counts BUT STILL!!
NO! Blasphemy! This is hands-down the single worst post of this entire thread.
Comparing a Charr’s horrendous ugliness to the god-like cuteness of a Quaggan! Who do you think you are?!?!?!
Why does nobody complain about boon stacking?
Two people giving regeneration is a waste because it only stacks once (I know it stacks in duration)!? Bleeding at least stacks up to 25 in intensity.
Imagine two guardians seeing a champion preparing its kill-every-thing-with-one-hit-skill. Both guardians spread their aegis…no stacking one save-party-from-instant-death wasted.
There are many thinks that don’t stack:
- Soothing Mist
- Strength in Numbers
- Battle Presence
Why isn’t that a problem and bleeding is?
I think it’s easier for people to accept yes or no, to does it stack or not.
But once you get into, lets cap it on 25. It becomes “why not 30? why not 35? why not 40?”
Sorry Maestro, I didn’t bother reading the rest of the post because it’s kinda long, and I just wanted to directly answer your question at the beginning. I thought I posted this earlier, but I did go more in-depth on the suggestions thread forum.
I think explorable dungeon should range from easy to hard with different rewards. This would apply to all with minimum tokens being 10 and max being 60, but here’s AC for example
AC story – whatever, don’t care.
AC EXP P1 – Easy : 10 tokens
AC EXP P2 – Medium: 20 tokens
AC EXP P3 – Hard: 60 tokens
There would be a lot of work going into balancing, like putting more boss chests into P3 so better loot rewards (or even just higher percentage. So if there is 1 chest on all paths, say 10% rare in easy, 40% rare in medium, 75% chance for a rare in hard).
Also, they should all be around the same length (easier doesn’t always meaner shorter) to help detour ‘elite’ groups from running easy mode all day
Edit: Okay I went back and read it. I agree the jump from ac story to ac exp is too hard. The first two dungeons are arguably the hardest in the game, in my opinion, with respect to story mode.
I completely agree with Ralena and Vassar. They are ridiculous. They are hard enough as is, and last time I did AC story, twice they were far apart, bugged, and teleport right on top of each other. GFs to SoS and Kain.
Amazing week. Good luck SoS. You’ll do well in Tier 3.
TC welcome back to tier 2.
And our rematch.I suspect this tier should be pretty evenly matched. Here’s to a good few weeks of solid WvW.
PS. Put up another yak parade
Thank you, appreciate the blessings. I wish I could spectate tier 2 – KN/FA/TC. That’s going to be one heck of a match.
PSS Put up a quaggan parade. Nobody would dare kill a non-risen quaggan.
You mean like the notification in the top right that tells you the status of world events in a region? Yup….
No, it’s pretty accurate.
My necro runs a wells/aoe setup, and it has been one of the easiest setups to mesh with any group.
Necromancer bias is bias.
Necro seems like the last one to fit. They are very good in WvW but don’t seem that ideal in dungeons. They are excellent for farming PvE and WvW kills with their amazing survivability and great AOE skills.
I heard that Necromancers fit in with dungeon groups nicely with their wells and support, is that inaccurate?
It depends what dungeon you’re running and who you talk to.
If you try to find a PUG they will most likely much rather have a warrior, guardian, mesmer, thief.
If you run in a guild group, you can coordinate builds and make it work
It’s capped because Anet said the servers have to keep track and store every single duration on every mob in every zone. They have to keep track of the damage and duration of all of these.
People already complain about lag now, could you imagine how bad it would be in WvW or dragon events with necros putting 200+ bleed stacks on something.
badly coding your game is not a valid excuse
Who’s to determine the validity of an “excuse”? Just because you don’t like the answer, it’s automatically invalid. They gave their reasons, just deal with it. Besides, it’s always better to balance your character damage on Conditions and Direct damage.
Lol, yes, thank you. I’m just providing this thread with the information they gave. I’m not saying it’s fair or reasonable.
You can sit here and talk all you want about the cap hurts conditions builds, but that doesn’t address the root cause.
I don’t want that. The original example isn’t very good. Not many people will say “Yeah, I’ll trade you my dusk for your dawn, even though mine’s worth 50g more”
Also, inflation would sore because the high price items would ignore the TP, leaving out 10s of thousands of gold a day
Eh, I’m with Vol. Not everybody is meant to have a legendary. You don’t need one, it’s nice to have.
Anyway, this should be locked soon as quitting/good bye posts aren’t allowed.

It is the road, not the destination…
;-)The road blocks in the road, make the destination unreachable..
Bull[expletive]! There is not one single aspect of this game in which you cannot participate without a full set of Ascended gear. Not. One. Single. Aspect.
Please help me infuse my exotic gear so I can run level 30-50 fractals with my guild and not get obliterated by Agony.
You can still do it, they just have to revive you. He never said it wouldn’t be hard, it’s the fact that you still CAN do it.
Nope, my main is a mesmer, I’m fully aware of that.
You know, I was incredibly close to saying “And I’m sure maestro will pick a ranger or engineer so he can say ‘Hey look! We had a ranger/an engineer!’” But you know.

It will count for the next day. If you get the chest after reset, then you won’t get the chest again (at least as a couple of months ago)
Warrior seems like it will match most of want you want. To me though, the warrior is boring gameplay and doesn’t add much excitement. You wont have any issues finding dungeon parties, but you might feel a little lackluster in WvW/sPvP.
Elementalist seems like the 2nd best choice. They fit everything you want as in they are exciting to play. You can only use one weapon set, but you have 4 attuenments to swap to, so it’s kinda like having 4 weapons (20 weapon-skills). I don’t find elementalist to look amazing though endgame, as they are stuck with light armor and I’m not a fan of light armor.
Necro seems like the last one to fit. They are very good in WvW but don’t seem that ideal in dungeons. They are excellent for farming PvE and WvW kills with their amazing survivability and great AOE skills.
I love my alts. I can farm world events/dragons like crazy.
Somewhere else somebody posted they had 9 level 80s. They park one at each world event/dragon
If BG is strong enough, it could damage JQ morale enough to send them to tier two or below. All it takes is for a few fair weather guilds to jump ship before the snowball effect begins, when players and guilds spend too much time in tier one, they seem to think it’s somehow different from other tiers (it’s not, the coverage and numbers are the only difference)
Coming from SoS, this sounds like a history lesson =)
This seems like it could be a fun discussion if the classes were more appropriate…. saaay engineer vs ranger or mesmer vs ele.
But… as it is, mesmer, not much reason to defend my stance lol
I understand the concept time = money, and I am not discussing this law. Ipso facto logging into the game means this.
Yeah you could grind Fractals, but the monthly or daily says you must pay xyz amount of gold depending on what you craft.
What I am asking is, when did laurels start to ‘DIRECTLY’ cost gold outright?
(btw, not shouting ‘directly’ above, just capsing it for emphasis as I was not clear in my first post.)
This isn’t ‘DIRECTLY’ costing you gold. ‘DIRECTLY’ costing you gold would be “Pay 1gold to vendor 0% complete”
You could farm these items. Therefore if you mean that the time it takes you to farm the crafting materials is gold, then all the dailies cost you gold.
Also as somebody else mentioned, you can make money from this
I read the title and thought “uh…duh”
I think you also get them from map completion no?
Team Make-UP afaik
Me: Mesmer
Alliete: Ele
Mourningcry: Guardian
Leo G: Warrior

What are you running Maestro?Wow, I could have guessed this team make up a mile away.
You also forget that Mesmers are one of the most late-blooming classes in the entire game. Pre-40, they’re considered one of the weakest classes.
It seems to be based off of effort/time.
If I’m at an event standing around for mobs to come in, randomly it seems like I get silver.
However if I make it to thelast 30 sec of a 6 min event, but that full 30 sec I’m attacking and killing, I’ll get gold.
It could be a bug though, if it’s happening all the time. Use the report bug feature in game with kitten of the event and you getting bronze
I seem to be at the opposite end. I haven’t found necros or other mesmers to be that hard, especially mesmers. On the other hand thieves give me the most agonizing of headaches, especially either the ones that keep hugging my face with heartseeker, or the ones that are near perma-stealthing. Exactly what are you guys doing that makes thieves so relatively easy?
I find that if you control their movement, they are incredibly easy. Temporal curtain and #5 push back on GS help a lot when they stealth, you pretty much mess up their plan of whatever they wanted to do. shatter f4 is great for when you know backstab is coming
Team Make-UP afaik

What are you running Maestro?
Wow, I could have guessed this team make up a mile away.
It does seem that DB and YB are done this week, with TC getting +600. They probably want TC to move on as quickly as possible. I am not sure how you guys are feeling over in SoS. If you guys decide to throw the match then there is a high chance that you would be in T3 next week. Or you can fight hard to stay in T2 for one more week. Its up to you. ^^
Its been a honour fighting you guys in SoS. You are worthy opponents.
I don’t think most of us are deciding to throw the match. Even though the score looks like a wipe, NA peak lead to some really good fights, so personally I’d love to stay in T2, but also look forward to T3 if/when that comes. Tactics and strategy were needed (and used!) rather than the ol zerg in a clock-wise motion around the map ftwT1.
Didn’t run into KN much but had a lot of good back and forths with FA
Yeah Anet, why didn’t you just mail us BiS gear with auto infinite XP on character creation?
Oh wait, maybe because MMORPGs are about leveling and character progression. Go to sPvP if you want everything handed to you.
Again, why not just disable chests when guesting?
The recent change to chest drops changed the whole dynamic. Prior to this, many are tied up in dungeons going for the best loot. The open world on several servers had a dead type feel to it, because of that. So people asked for underflow instances. Where if for exampled all servers in Queensdale each had 10 people running around, that they would all come together since it is very low pop and 250 people would be in the entire zone.
Guesting was to make servers with empty areas to allow players to move to another hopping server to feel like they are in a mmo. And that was working as planned, and these people have to get the rewards to otherwise that negates the whole reason to even venture.
It’s when we got world boss drops on timers that this whole new level of zerging kicked in. Now people are jumping in mass all over to the same places.
Cool story? So why not just disable world chests for guesting?
You will still get loot and drops, just not world event chests. Do dragon bosses in your own home world, if it’s not populated enough try a d medium-population server, not high pop. This shouldn’t punish those that already are in a high population server and make them guest to a medium-population server just to do the event they wanted to do.
Dragons and world events can be down without 200+ people, it just might take longer.
(edited by Ethics.4519)
…snip…
Are you telling me its impossible?
Yes. What happens when the lowest population server boss doesn’t get killed? Will two dragons spawn? What if the dragon is up for 2 hours after spawn, then gets killed. Does that mean the server that kills the dragon has to wait 5 hours instead of 3?
Then you’ll have people wondering why there dragon isnt spawning and trying to guest all over the place to find the dragon that’s still up.
No, logistical nightmare
If you guys really support my idea (About JPotM) post here please : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Jumping-Puzzles-of-the-Mist/first#post1592268
an ever changing series of jumping puzzles? sounds like that cube movie. would be cool, sounds technically impossible tho.
I don’t think it would be technically impossible to do?
You could either invest A LOT of time and have a wide variety of different maps with jumps being spaced further a apart, random patters/effects (like metrica JP), or pile in more enemies etc.
You could also go the easy way out like they did with FoTM and just have an agony wall that you have to run through, and you would die without a certain amount of AR.
A combination of these two would be best (agony if they want to reward ascended gear, something different if not)
i was just wondering if Omnonberry Pie and Skale Venon share an internal cooldown
Why would they?
They recently added a 1 sec cooldown to the pie, just in case you didn’t know.
Overflow is a true overflow. All servers have a chance of going into that overflow (with the exception of NA staying NA and EU staying EU). You can’t link the overflow to the home server because then all home servers would have to be on the same time schedule, which would be impossible
I don’t think Anet wants people to use timers at all.
Before a event boss can spawn on time. The last parts of the event chain have to be completed within the window.
Anet wants you out doing events to get the event boss to spawn.
Shatter pre-event goes fastest with 1-2 people, the more people the slower it becomes (They increase amount of siege needed, but not mobs or siege dropped)
Tequatl doesn’t have a pre event. Just a timer with a window.
I don’t think either of the two things you said are true
(why there is an overflow)
Guild member1 : Shatter up
Guild member 2: on my way!
Guild member 2: ahh overflow
Member 1 invites member 2, member teles and boom, no more crying.
I understand the core issue though. I’ve already givin my opinion on the main page. I just came here to say “exploiting” ? really?

Every time that I’ve shared a personal story with my friends those who were not the leader were prompted at the end of the quest as to whether or not they wanted it to count towards their own personal story progression. I’ve shared a lot of personal story quests over the past 5 months so unless it’s broken or has been changed most recently…not sure what else to say.
Oh wow, interesting. I never shared one so didn’t know that, was just taking OPs word for it.
just disable it= more gemsales for propper transfer anything else is useless anyway
Nope. I have friends on other servers that I like to play with when they are on, but they aren’t on much so I want to stay on my home server.
Guesting has it’s practical reasons and needs to stay.
Again, why not just disable chests when guesting?
