Quality > Quantity.
Yesterday on SFR I alone recapped bay twice and trashed it’s supply completely. A zerg of 20-30 people back at the time was recapping it from me and me alone. Third time they bothered to leave scouts(I’ve killed one :P), so after hiding for a while I had to leave.
Aside from that I’ve won plenty outnumbered fights like 5 to 15 simply because our havoc squad was skilled and ambushed unsuspecting foes in the back.

Please ban hackers. Using http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Instinctual_Response should not be allowed by any means.
And 20 stacks sounds as an over-glorified amount. I’ve never ever seen that much in my life, but I can assure you a single warrior can apply up to 14 stacks of torment by himself.

These are extremely expensive. I’ve considered myself an elitist up until I saw the ingredients for these. Does buying them give any significant improvement, or are they only gold sinks?

PvE – gold sinks, 70 stat points won’t matter.
WvW infusions – very helpful(for wvw ofc), not that pricy either.
Scholar is worse than strength by far.. almost same damage as strength >90%(assuming you provide and keep up 10 stacks of might by yourself however), guess what <90%. Oh and also pls trait that gives might on signet activation? if you pve..

I’ve been called a hacker a couple times already when I’ve single-handedly flipped over a 250/250 camp with 12ish lv82 veterans and two defending players… poor things!
I honestly think all of the builds have use. I LOVE S/D, it’s really hard to play but once you get the hang of it it’s great. D/P is a gimmick, but nevertheless a very potent one, and so is S/P. D/D is fine too, and the only thing I don’t really like would be P/D…

We use 4 out of 8 classes only as the rest is so useless compared to what these 4 bring to the table. Why hasn’t there been a change in the WvW meta at all?

That’s where I’ve realised you’re a total no-wit.
Let me guess.
Warrior, Guardian, Mesmer, Elementalist.
Because we all know that a ninja thief solocapping towers and/or keeps you’ve left behind is completely useless. Same for necro with their completely insignificant(wait wat?) zerg presence… And of course let’s not forget to say how useless engineer’s abilities are! I mean they can do nothing at all(wait? They can do everything? really?).
Ranger AOE’s coupled with Water fields are strong for a group play. Only thief lacks in group play from those I’ve mentioned, but that is being made up with roaming and havoc squadding, where thief truly shines.

Can you even solo a camp with your build? No Refuge? Double sigils(sharing cooldowns over swaps)? Whatever…
I have 18k HP and 2.1k toughness in WvW while running full berserker. Ascended, infusions, counted in guard leech +30/30 from bloodlust and 5%(average, 0-10% depending on points) bonus HP.
I’m in top 500 pvp(both queues) as a S/D thief. But lately more and more often I find myself leaning towards D/P to own groups of enemies, something I can’t really do on S/D(anything more than 3 80(upleveled are helping you more by rallying) is death!)

Is this some bronze tier?
Common knowledge is that a thief can stay permanently in stealth If there are no stealth disruptor traps or player scouts, the objective is yours. Just wait until the indignation falls. Around a minute to take down a tower lord, around two for a keep lord is what it takes for me unless I get caught by a scout or a stealth trap, which are pretty commonly set up by Desolation we are playing against.

You’re doing it wrong as I’ve mentioned. There are 6 targets in a clean camp(7-8 if dolyaks), and using single-target abilities or even cleaves is probably hindering you more than helping.
Most optimal things to do is to spam AOE’s of course. Shortbow #2 while kiting around is very effective, Radiation Field with Dagger Storm is also very effective. Pistol Whip is pretty decent if only little targets remain, however.

I’d be looking at Celestial(looking at you 2700 number above) OR FULL BERZERERKER for roaming. Both are pretty amazing, with Celestial performing splendidly in a Havoc Squad and BERZERERKER while soloing.
As for Zerging? As many have mentioned, going for such insane toughness is NOT WORTH IT and you’re much better of packing Healing Power to keep yourself and your allies alive. It simply gives more bang for the bunk in such scenarios.

Please do keep in mind that this specific calculator doesn’t have a lot of various bonuses sadly, so stats are not a good indicator. Actual Condition Damage can be at almost 3000 in WvW circumstances with 20+ might stacks, wvw world bonus, corruption/guard leech counted in, which by the way means that burning will do (328+750)x(4/3) = 1328 damage per second, while retaliation for about 648…
same with health by the way, in-game build has about 20.5-22K HP depending on various WvW bonuses.
So now the fun part. You’ve probably already realised that the build has +100% burning duration, and every block you perform will apply 4 seconds of burning(2 from trait and 2 from rune). Have you ever tried to count the amount of blocks you perform while you shelter heal in the middle of enemy zerg? It’s probably ranging from 50 to 100.
With that said, the point of the build is to be a very tanky conditionmancer trying his best to get in the middle of an enemy zerg and block as many of their’s attacks as only possible to provide them with some tasty burning.
50 Shelter blocks(if 1 per enemy face) = 200 seconds of burning = 265000 damage in the next four seconds unless cleansed. How does that sound? :P
The build is at it’s best bypassing the 5-target AOE limit through the usage of retaliation, shelter, wall of reflection to wreck utter havoc almost single-handedly…
What do you think of it? I was trying to make a build that would have MAX impact in a 50-100v50-100 setting.

Just don’t dive when you cross the river(staying at water surface won’t lose you stacks) ;-) or get a sigil in your underwater weapon as well.
If stacks remained upon mode change it could easily be abused by stacking a sigil underwater and running around with full stacks without a sigil being equipped, or vice versa.
And while stacks will remain upon going underwater>above surface, they’ll disappear the moment you swap your weaponset, so you can’t really benefit from that :P(I’m not sure how it handles engineers without kits though.. seems like FREE STACKS RIGHT THERE)

besides that, energy sigil for shortbow is nice as you usually swap to it just as kitten goes wild(and 1-2 extra dodges really help). And then with unkillable nature of thief you might wanna run a stacker sigil even in pvp. There’s also a shared cooldown with Air and Fire from other weapon sets, so they won’t be able to proc for first few seconds after swap which makes them not-so-wanted.
So I’m using Air/Fire S/D and Energy/Bloodlust SB myself. Makes perfect sense to me.
Also, Hard to Catch(versus enemy compositions with stuns/dazes, for example other S/D thieves) and Shadowstep(if enemy is kitten stuns/conditions combo) instead of Infiltrator Strike(which is great but you might find yourself overwhelmed by stuns or conditions).
And then COMBO FIELDS. Abuse them hard. Dancing Dagger thrown over a fire, poison or dark field is godlike. At times I can drop a shadow refuge just to throw over it 4-5 dancing daggers for real damage and healing – it’s 202 heal per dagger, and each of them is actually 4 projectile finishers and thus throwing 5 dancing daggers over a shadow refuge adds up to 4040(+2.0 from healing power) healing as well as 5000-6000 damage from leech(damage scales on your power, with 0 might stacks dancing dagger did 263 damage per leech hit)

I heard that you can get ascended trinkets with the tickets. If that’s true, it’s the really reward. Daily laurels are just bs.

You could get them using guild commendations too!
But I’m agreeing with you on this one. As a guildmaster of a tiny guild myself, I couldn’t really afford those, so they are the real deal for me as well, not shiny mistforged weapons – I have my eyes set on legendaries anyways.

Camp Soloing

I’m just doing it on shortbow with dagger storm, poison fields and cluster bomb… It takes me about 10-15 seconds to clear out all but supervisor, and then i swap to s/d(or s/p depending on which I fancy for the moment) to finish him off.
Needless to say I’m full berserker, otherwise such times wouldn’t be possible. ALSO remember to utilize combo’s, if you do dagger storm on top of shadow refuge or poison field it becomes much stronger for instance.
In fact it’s so strong, that utilizing Radiation Field(Asura Racial, one of the few useful ones I’ve got to say) together with Dagger Storm clears me a camp fully. All what remains is a supervisor, and he’s dying shortly after that ^^.

Necro or Thief for WvW?

Let me put it this way.
You’re soloing. Havoc Squad(5-10 players) approaches you. You’re Necro, and You’re about to be a Dead Necro. But if you were a thief, you could press a single utility and survive. Or press something else and survive. Or press something that stealths or blinks and survive… you get my point. Oh, except that I’ve seen Necro solo about 50% of enemy zerg by using fear wall(no target cap for walls?) in EOTM… But that’s EOTM, so who cares. In about 99% other cases your necro will get steamrolled.
If You’re a part of aforementioned Havoc Squad. Then things are pretty balanced, both Necro and Thieves are appreciated in them.
If you’re zerging, then being a necro is probably better. But I don’t think you can change an outcome on your own regardless.

It depends on the way you look at it. I mean, right before there would be no difference whether your server finished 1st or 5th. Now, if you finished first, you can show off TWO mistforged weapons. It seems like common sense to give more rewards to the winner, does it not?
And everyone is happier like that, too – it’s not a single player fault that their server was a little bit better than the rest of the bronze/silver tier and a little bit worse than the rest of silver/gold tier… Making them last place in gold/silver while actually not being the worst/weaker server of course. It’s only fair that everyone gets one!
Oh, and I’m not getting any. I’m going to get my sweet 600 tickets and turn them into 2 accessories and 4 wvw infusions, or perhaps a dolyak mini.

Raw power and survivability of this class

gw2skills is garbage. Does it count in 2.5k HP from Guard stacks? 300-600 from BBloodlust? Up to 10% increase from WvW server-wide bonuses? The answer is no of course. The stats OP was talking about are quite real and frankly, just as they are you can also get insane damage on a thief, getting above 3.5k power with might stacks. And as no surprise it comes using a burst combo you can even bring such a hunk down.
But honestly if you bring a group support build and complain about losing a fight to a thief. My apologies. There are many things you should consider in a fight VS thief. Getting 20 might stacks prior to the fight might just be the reason why you lost.

Because you are playing a S/D, you might have noticed that you have quite a lot of different kinds of evades.
That’s so called active survivability. Besides that, as a FULL BERSERKER S/D thief in WvW you will have ~2.1 k armor(2064 base + 0-60 BG bloodlust), and something along the lines of 18-19k HP depending on the active HP benefits you have right now. Is that not enough? I don’t know, but I’d rather get more damage :P

So you beat some ele/necro who are bad enough to not even consider using food at all while you had all different possible kinds of bonuses.
Moreso than that, the time it took for you to do that is UNACCEPTABLE. In other words, showing that you are bad.
Zerg clips may as well not be there, but they show exactly what you wanted to show – how useless your thief is with 200 damage bombs. As we all know zergs have a billion million of AOE condition cleanses. So… GL&HF being useful in a zerg. In fact even S/D thief(YES THE PVP VERSION) would be more useful in a zerg with it’s steal sharing 6 boons with nearby allies.

s/d as for standard… problems with p/d thieves? Well. they probably won’t die if they plan on staying in stealth and doing nothing.. but that requires them hitting c/d of course. Deny them that, time your Dagger Storm just asthey unleash their sneak attack… If anything S/D should be called unkillable(for as long as you don’t screw up of course), not that little stealthy condi thief.

It’ll come with experience, something that s/d needs. Pay attention to enemy skills and time your dodges. Pace yourself and don’t blow them all at once unless hell gets unleashed on you – but always dodge when your endurance bar is about to get full, naturally.
The first time I’ve picked up a thief and rolled a s/d my winrate tanked down terribly xP
But now I’m quite high on the leaderboards I guess. I hate people who just say it’s dodge spamming, because it’s not quite dodge spamming – it’s much harder than that :P

Sick of condi builds when roaming

I’ve killed a great variety of condition builds on my S/D thief.
Another story is that I’ve been obligated to pop up lemongrass food to kill the better ones… Which is definitely worrisome.
And of course an easy fix to condition duration food would be to make it +10% instead of +40%, to keep it in line.

Ascended gears are account bound when made but not Legendaries (only account bound when equiped), still a mystery till this day…..

not a mystery, just a screw up which cannot be fixed anymore. Making legendaries account-bound on create now would create a lot of complaints right now.

I’d say anything works in solo PVE. Just don’t forget to update your gear!
I would recommend shortbow to be able to move around the world faster, together with either sword/pistol(decent cleave damage and extra mobility) or dagger/pistol(good single target damage and mobility).
in PVP there are many playstyles. S/D 2/0/0/6/6 is undoubtedly one of the most decent and popularized ones, so it’s a good place to start.

Is it first in first out? Or last in first out?
How does it handle multiple conditions simultaneously/intensity stacks?
Same for boon steal/removal? Any indicators to know which ones are going to get removed first?
What about stolen boon durations/transferred condition durations?(what happens if I steal a stack of might from X different sources each with it’s own duration?)
Also, as a thief Lacerator Strike is stealing all might stacks(So 25 stacks stolen = 25 stacks for thief), but http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bountiful_Theft as written, removed all but gives a player only one.

Have you seen the official post about congratulating servers that won?
That Sylvari with 2 mistforged hero weapons… Or 600 tickets, you know.
And no – normal hero weapons do not have that white glow, sadly.
So… kitten move, anet? Not only teasing us, but making it unachievable for everyone to actually run double mistforged weapons… You know.
So I suppose giving everyone an extra 100 is a great idea.

pff, all the mace skills suck beyond believe, the skin is the least of my concern.

They’re actually really good on both the Guardian and Warrior as defensive weapons. The problem is that people generally don’t go for defense, they want full offense to DPS everything to death as quickly as possible

You mean that burst combo on guardian with mace #3 or a trait called Unsuspecting Foe for a warrior which gives you +50% crit chance when target is stunned(with mace 3 second stun, +30% stun duration sigil for 3.9?)

Well… I thought so too before getting to craft a full ascended gear set for my thief and THEN realising that I want bloodstone dust to craft my nourishment. I don’t have all that much of it right now.

^ Don’t you think that having your own stash at home(bank), a cooking station and a workshop as well as a machine connecting you to global e-bay is quite realistical?(Did I just mention a kitchen, PC and, well… a storage which are pretty common to be found in real houses?). And it would be a dream to work(craft) from home for some people for sure.
For me, I think it’s far more defining as a home for me than some random nodes growing… AND MOST IMPORTANTLY it does not require any major work to be done to get implemented in the game – it’s that QoL feature just like character names turning to grey(gray) when defeated.

another reason are the rewards are absolute junk
a rank up chest gives like 2 masterworks 10s and badges
the best u can buy with badges is exotic armor
pvp has reward tracks which are way better and the rank up chests are better even if barely
pve is like 2 rares minimum at a boss
so wvw needs better rewards

Yeah… Except you get a wvw chest around two times an hour or even more often, in PVP it’s once per 30 solo arena games or 20 team arena games… assuming 50% winrate of course, but in any case that’s a lot of time.
And I get 20 silvers on average(15-25) as well as a rare in every 2nd rank-up chest. Once in a blue moon I may even get an exotic or an ascended item.

When someone promise me a promotion and don’t deliver it in time and says i should wait few more days aka until June 3rd sure ill be a little upset but i will wait, like i did, when they don’t deliver on the 2nd date also i will most definitely be upset, especially since i worked hard and i should get it, but i don’t get it because of their fault some random x person should get his promotion too, same thing applies here, why don’t they open the rewards to the accounts that have the perfect amount of wvw tokens so they can purchase the rewards, why some must wait? What is the difference of me for example who will have the skin vs someone who won’t have? Will i be able to 1 hit kill him because of the skin, i don’t get it….

Because it would feel like a kick in the balls to see others running around with the skin while you don’t have one because of a bug?
I’m just saying, even though I’m kittened off myself at such inexplicable delays.

As some mentioned already, I believe that a necromancer would make a strong combination with a Guardian orientied on dealing damage(or balanced at least).
Then if Guardian is more defense-orientied, high-burst stealth thief would probably be a great teammate. Stealth will force people to focus on Guardian while the Thief is going to pick off enemies.

Does nobody solo roam anymore?

I only roam by myself. I noticed this too like 6 months ago. People don’t appear to want a fair fight any longer, however, you shouldn’t be playing WvW if you want that. WvW is just unskilled zergs moving from place to place salivating over rewards. I can’t remember how many times I hid in a keep as a WARRIOR and took it back 5 minutes later by myself. Joke game mode, joke player base. If they cared, they would of checked.

Also, there are guilds out there who I will not mention by name that think they are so kitten hot rolling around in a full team picking roamer’s off, only to get destroyed on their live Twitch stream since they accepted my duel kittenily.

I blame ANET though, people roam around in WvW because sPvP is simply terribly lacking, and they desire some other form of skillful play.

A commendable feat doing it on a warrior. I have much problems doing it myself on a thief, because of how many scouts there are(were?) in gold T1… but it’s an awesome feat to perform nonetheless.

i would do ANYTHING for anet to give me a construction skill, where u build ur own house. starting off with shaggy wood furniture and ugly wood walls and stuff at lv 1 and by 500 building giant statues of myself in solid diamond and marble fire places where i get buffs from logs i throw in and a fancy room with maps and book cases where i can get knowledge scrolls and tomes of experience once a day after building the extremely expensive bookshelfs (yea it would be a huge cash sink this entire thing) and throwing parties where everyone battles the exclusive bosses u can add to ur dungeon basement that drop unique loot not available anywhere else!

Now that’s… Fabulous. I’d also like to be in possession of my personal Manor, just like Caudecus ;-D
