Come and give, Celestial gives a lot more stats point-for-point if I consider all stats but condition damage. Which, hey, meanwhile gets utilized with GS #5 and permanent burning, that’s solid damage right there. My eyes hurted when I read through the math’s and PVE comments, I mean math was so horrible and why do you still talk about PVE? You can run full white gear and still succeed quite easily.
As for specialization and that you’ll never want full celestial because, you know, specialization
I’m just trying to utilize the stat advantage, while specializing easily with traits&runes&sigils&infusions
Well, because celestial offers little power and precision and a lot of critical damage(note how I point out defensive stats are completely fine, because they don’t have such synergistic scaling with each other like power/precision/crit damage do), I’m
just getting Power and Precision. That’s my way of specializing – gear is almost the only thing that can be celestial, but there are still other sources to specialize.

In high Level fractals your gonna to take alot of damage regardless if you let something hit you. The best way to clear high level fractals is to not get hit or to negate the damage you would be taking by other means.

Celestial gear isn’t going to help there. For me Its always been zerker, the faster it dies the less chance it has to hit me. I don’t even like running Celestial in WvW, I would run my Soldiers or Clerics there, not the celestial.

negating damage by toughness and healing power? Just a safety net after your back, so you will not actually get 1-shotted by something(most annoying thing, and also happens quite often, especially with guardian base-lacking health pool). Granted, you can block that, but better safe than sorry.
Here’s an example: fire elemental fractal fight. Tell me how you’re going to burst it down with zerkers and you don’t need the heals at all.
As for WvW, soldiers and clerics… hmm.
Clerics(p/t/HP)[ are more of a supporty orientied gear type, nothing’s wrong with that. And Soldier’s(P/t/v) the same, except you’re getting vitality instead of healing power… you’d probably want to mix them to achieve a good mix inbetween burst survivability and damage-over-time survivability.
But you’re not going to do any damage right there. Having a lot of power and 4% critical is pretty sad, in my opinion. If you have this much power you should definitely trade some of it for precision and critical damage to achieve a superior damage output to pure power… And that’s it. Give me some toughness, some vitality with healing power too please, and don’t forget some Power balanced out by precision and critical damage.
That’s downright celestial gear here.
Of course, it would be a different story if you’d build around a gear with healing power, vitality and toughness, with no Power considered at all. But that’s 100% support, very boring, unable to damage anything and being simply a supporting hunk of meat doesn’t seem appealing to me, precisely because you’re basically an incredibly cool banner that can’t do anything by itself.
It would be a different story if you’d build around power, precision and critical damage too, but you’d just get downright oneshotted by anyone in WvW. Speed Runs are not something I’m considering when I’m talking about WvW.

The goal of the build is… none. In dungeons you’ll be the tank(Imagine, in high level fractals you DO need a tank!), which will be cake-difficulty with the variety of defensive stats, really. And you’ll also provide some meaningful damage too.

Celestial gear is bad for PVE. It will be even worse after the upcoming patch. There is no need for a tank. Your damage won’t be good. WvW <> PVE.

Of course it isn’t good if all you care about is damage – it’s obvious. Of course you will want some sustain for your party in high level fractals. Maybe you weren’t in them yet?
40-50+ and the likes.
Okay, but besides that:
Why will celestial gear be worse after patch?
I’ve read all the patch notes, and I’m not going to hide it – they bring in a lot of balance changes and I’m actually liking them. Ferocity statistic is kind of interesting – but it doesn’t necessarily seem like a nerf to celestial gear.
Why do you bring up PVE when I stated in the beginning that the build was aimed for WvW? Granted, I’ll be running in dungeons with that. But ain’t nobody gonna say I’m useless because I certainly won’t be that downed man who people need to resurrect.

That’s a link I’m providing, I’m suggesting the build usage in WvW.
Things to note:
+250 vitality, +100 power and +100 condition damagefrom WvW bonuses is not included in the calculator.
Stat infusions in Armor and weapons also don’t work in calculator for some reason, if I would get to choose I’d probably put +10 power and +30 healing power(weapons and armor respectively). It seems like the build could use some more Power and some less precision, although I like the idea of 75% critical chance which will also result in might stacks from Strength and Empowered Might)
15 might stacks – an estimation of mine, I think you’re capable of consistengly upkeeping this with this setup.
Why Celestial Gear?
Because Guardian happens to synergize well with all the stats provided by it. I think Power, Precision, Crit Damage as well as Toughness and Vitality are self explanatory.
Healing Power actually seems to me superior to Vitality for example. That’s after I started to add up estimated heal from healing power, and I’ve only ever looked at myself, not on the others around who also benefit from my heals.
Last(and actually least useful), Condition Damage benefits Guardian more than many think it does. I think many dismiss the fact that Binding Blade has 0.2 condition scaling. Compared to Burning 0.25 and Bleed 0.05 having Burning and Binding Blade on a target is equal to have 9 bleed stacks, which isn’t exactly bad.
I guess the build aims for a front-liner in a zerg. Could be also very effective in solo roaming.
I’m asking you to fiddle around with the build(in calculator, in real game if you want but ehh, that’s expensive) and find out what could be further improved :P

I think this is an unnoticeable change, inbetween boon duration and Save Yourselves(if you use it, I think most do), you’re still looking at pretty much permanent Vigor.
Just consider 25% Boon Duration, and let’s say you’re going to get the proc every 11 seconds(because you can’t realistically proc it every 10 seconds), and you’re looking at 7.5 seconds every 11 + 12.5 every 60, you’re looking at 90% Vigor uptime here, and 100% in actual combat(Vigor will only briefly fall off in the last seconds before Save Yourselves is back up again). Not to mention that getting Runes of Lyssa, or any runes with boon duration makes it permanent without any but’s(except for boon removal of course)

You have simply way too much toughness in comparison to vitality and healing power. Investing a bit more in those instead would have made you tankier.
Same applies to Power, although not quite as much – I would invest just a tinier bit more in precision/critical damage.
I feel like your build would find some more balance with celestial helm&chestpiece, and mayyybee a celestial greatsword(Helm, Chest and Greatsword are the best pieces of celestial gear).
As for Runes&Sigils
Dolyak Runes are plain bad at the moment, with their last bonus being 30 health per second. Given how you are running 3 shouts, I would heavily suggest soldier’s instead(so that each shout is going to remove 2 conditions, and conversing one of them. Not bad huh), which also gives your more vitality and less toughness(great, exactly what your build needs).
Sigils, I feel like Battle is going to be superior to Force. 3 Might stacks is exactly about 5% increase, maybe a little bit less(if you have 2k power 100 is 5% increase, 3 might is 105). But they last 20 seconds at the very least, so they will keep working far longer and on the other weapon sets as well(+ extra heal from AH to your build). It’s definitely better(I’d consider Strength too, but with your low crit chance it won’t be worth it)
Traits – I would suggest some virtues… I don’t know why go all the way down for 3 shouts and altruistic healing and not get any boon duration whatsoever, also (5) in Virtues is perhaps the best of the best points you can choose, while AH is in a pretty bad spot right now…

yeah, I think all rant about GS warriors being OP comes to an end once you dodge a Hundred Blades.
I kinda find your runes(just about anything is better than Eagle in my opinion), gear(full berserker in WvW, now that’s balls deep! mix it with knight/valk gear or something, no?), traits(I don’t see why you decide to skip on 10% damage increase in 1st tree), damage on dodge(op), etc… The combo from what I know is indeed Flurry>swap>HB, activating frenzy inbetween. It’s not bad if the enemy can’t cleanse immobilize*(about 50% of WvW players can’t do it)*
Well, whatever, if you need damage, GS works in WvW splendidly. Mainly because half of WvW players are not capable of curing stuns/conditions.

Oh no, I’m suggesting that your decision to look at the two gear sets without the traits was wrong hence the conclusion you chose to draw out of it was also wrong.

The difference in traits is minor to one’s notice, the only reason I’ve decided to do that because it is your fancy counting in extra 100 precision from the trait meanwhile completely skipping 20% cooldown reduction as worthless(20% cooldown reduction translates to a very solid damage increase), and skipping zealous blade in calculations as well. That’s arrogant and simply silly. I understand that it can be hard to estimate 20% cooldown reduction. But I would say it’s about 10% damage increase in DPS overall without counting any other utilities that come with abilities, obviously(increase in those is obviously 25%, at least if you are using them on cooldown).

Your approach is incorrect, you can’t take the traits out to do the comparison, Traits are integral part of your build. You can’t look at them as two separate things. Traits compliment your gear and vice versa. Everyone has a different approach as to where they want to start (traits or gear) but in the end you have to look at both when making a decision of whether your build will work or not.

About the might stack sigils he’s right, pick either one and stick with it. I’d prolly go with the on swap ones.

An undeniable conclusion, most certainly. I’m glad you’ve changed your point to it and not decided to argue on the basis of pure stats(meanwhile counting healing power, damage % increases and condition damage&duration useless).
As for sigils, I honestly don’t know which ones(and in which slots) are better, but there is no drawback of running both. Or actually not running any? And instead getting Energy/Generosity/blablabla?

This is what I run for wvw zergbustin:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUMQJAWSlcgqCnFSMEf4ES2DRCBTQsHYUGtRXFSIA-jkCBoLQ4NAEDQUDAJoKrZPRMBCoyqIasqZER1KbYCB0fCA-w

If your build is meant for wvw, it wont work because:
Toughness, vitality, and healing power are too low
Power, precision, and crit damage are useless for a guardians main role
Need more condi cleanse

Celestial stats work on d/d ele but I think thats about it.
Its a nice concept but it just doesnt fulfill the requirements of a frontliner.

It’s a freaking tank, of course it would be useless to utilize the damage stats on a hammer with a staff! But GS guardian hurts, and hurts a lot. It’s simply a different playstyle – yours is viable, but it’s not about celestial gear, and it’s definitely not the only viable approach to the guardian.
With Celestial Gear I’m trying to make somewhat of a front-line Bruiser(not a Bunker who can’t do any damage), able to take hits(of course not as good as your Bunker) but still dealing meaningful damage.
And if I would have to judge your build, I would definitely swap that Battle Presence out for Pure of Voice. No much point in having AOE regeneration when you’re using the ability to clear conditions – and it’s not working when used. Also, as a big support/tank player, I think you should consider using the tome of courage for all the goodies.
Offtop, do you do enough damage to tag the champions for loot or players for kills with this build?

If you’re running celestial (especially in solo PvE or WvW), Meditations are your best bet. They give you the highest healing output and the best condition clear and stun breakers out of the utilities while also packing Fury to help make the critical damage on your celestial gear relevant and mobility to keep you in their face.

I swapped the traits around accordingly to (hopefully) maximize the effectiveness of the celestial gear.

Also swapped to Runes of the Traveler because the mobility, boon duration, and small global stat bonuses (especially crit damage) help to complement the gear set and chosen traits.

Very nice build, but I see some problems with it:
Together with Celestial Gear, Valor and Traveler runes you get 100% critical damage. And yet your power and precision aren’t high enough to complement such an amount – You would probably want to use runes for that, not for getting some more critical damage. It simply doesn’t make sense to get such a huge amount.
Also, if you are using renewed focus and not a book, I have almost no questions that Lyssa runes are better. Even in minor brawls you’re going to have swiftness from save yourselves and aforementioned runes – and if you’re zerging it’s not a problem.
As for the Honor line – It seems to be extremely selfish, main problem is sheer amount of critical damage again, uncomplemented further by Power/Precision.
It lacks the amazing selfless Daring, which heals on par with Monk’s Focus(and is AOE, 1.0 heal scaling = insanity). Most Importantly, it lacks boons – you don’t get defensive boons all that much, at least not in my opinion.
Nevertheless, despite these disadvantages, I’ve took interest in it and I think it is very strong, but would definitely be better off with Lyssa runes(to compensate for the lack of boons) and some more sources of Power.

I was talking to the right guy as I was curious as to hwat he was trying to say.

Again, play what you like, however you like. But everyone here will be able to tell you that there are far better options that going full celestial. It’s a balanced gear/build and as such it will be good at wide variety of roles but not the best at either of them. As long as you’re fine with that, who am I to tell you not to play it. But if you want to kill stuff better go zerker, if you wanna be better support -> cleric, better bunker -> pvt etc.

I guess being a kitten bunker, support and berserker is not quite as bad if altogether you are more than 1. As for your build, Change GS to celestial and rings to berserker, at least in calculations, and you’ll see the improvement. As about the guy, it’s the standard “celestial sucks” dude. Because it can’t answers to the name of this thread.

Because it can’t

I think I lost the string of your thoughts

You’re now talking with the wrong guy :P I’m right here.
Yes, of course I did look at your updated build. I’ve just removed traits from both yours and mine to compare, since you’ve insisted on picking up 10 in valor, which is the pure definition of extra stats with the precision bonus from toughness on top of it.
Also, I’ve liked you build quite a bit
It would be possible to make it better(IMO) getting Celestial Greatsword and berserker rings instead of vice versa. You would win 5% critical damage from that while not losing out on any stats whatsoever.
Or getting full celestial to improve on all stats while losing out on power and a tiny bit of critical damage. That would be my build then.
The reason why is that is because celestial rings give 2% less critical damage than berserker ones. On the other hand, celestial GS gives 1% more than berserker.

I really hate your retaliation argument(because you’re getting hit by it regardless of what you do, it’s not like because enemies have it zealous blade is useless!) and by over the top retality i’ve meant that I have more than enough of it, not that it’s overpowered. And I do, with Save Yourselves, Lyssa Runes, GS 4 and Virtue of Courage Active.
I’ve decided to compare by removing traits, so I can say what gear does exactly.
So far:
1607 power
1596 precision
1396 vitality
1396 toughness
490 healing power
68% critical damage
480 Condition damage
VS
1958 power(+351)
1489 precision(-107)
1315 toughness(-81)
1305 vitality(-91)
256 healing power(-234)
66% critical damage(-2%)
256 Condition Damage(-224)
It becomes quite obvious, that if we considerate 5 stats as being particularly useful on guardian, your build sounds better – it gains 350 power, and only loses about 110 precision, 80 toughness, 90 vitality, 2% critical damage.
But it also loses 234 healing power, as well as 224 condition damage.
Now condition damage is something I could care about less. And the actual amount of Power won’t feel too weak in my build after being amplified by all the sigils and might stacks either – the difference between 1600 and 1950 sounds much bigger than between 2500 and 2850, now doesn’kitten
But even if I say condition damage is downright useless for me(it’s not), I won’t say the same for healing power. Point-for-point, it heals more than what even vitality provides. And suddenly you’re losing a bundled amount of more than 500 useful stats and 2% critical damage for 350 Power.
And the only difference between the builds now is that your seems better.
If healing power is useless.
But it’s not.
And that’s why it is not better.

Lyssa VS Traveler Showdown:
Traveler:
30 all +6% crit damage
15% boon duration
25% movement speed if you do not have swiftness.
Lyssa:
165 Precision
Extra boon when using a healing spell(Random – could be stability for 10 seconds or Fury, could as well be something like Might for 10 seconds)
Full condition removal
Full boons for 5 seconds(
boon duration)
Throwing away 25% movement speed bonus – as that is something you will not benefit from in actual combat – and Lyssa clearly wins.
Of course, it’s great. But how many stats full condition removal and 10 boons for 6.5 seconds cost? It’s hard to estimate. But the Regeneration alone is going to heal over 1.5k with the healing power considered. That’s 150 points worth of vitality. And that’s one of the worse boons, when you consider the potential of condition removal and Stability boon, it gets insane. In other words, something that definitely outshines 15% boon duration provided by Traveler’s runes.
To be honest, right there I think your reasoning for using Traveler’s is that you forget that it does not stack with Swiftness

1. Newly Added Zealous Blade heal scaling is what makes it worthy. Up from lousy 25 to ~45 with proper celestial build, I believe. Which is actually decent considering the number of attacks greatsword does, especially combined with 5% damage increase which altogether makes it an excellent choice of a trait.
2. I believe I pointed out you could actually swap it out or even put some extra points in honor.
But nonetheless, with all the condition damage, the burning is going to hit hard. And provide permanent 10% damage increase from Zeal (10) trait as well, exactly because it is applied every 3rd hit up from 5(think about it - it’s almost twice as often - and 3 hits every 1.3 seconds isn’t exactly unbelievable(20% condition duration zeal, 10% lyssa *traveler if you want it*)
3. Mace is my mistake, I’ve actually wanted to put a scepter in. Not exactly sure why I’ve put mace. Nevertheless, Scepter is something I desire to utilize condition duration on it’s (3), as well as utilize Zealous Blade even more with Scepter (2)(lay the field and swap to GS - it will heal from the trait, and presumably will also increase the damage by 5%)
4. My mistake again.
I’ve never wanted to run this specific shout. I’m keen on Judge’s Intervention, though - but I’ll just say (7) and (8) are open to consider.
And I’m definitely liking Smite Condition/Purging Flames a whole lot more than SyG, which only provides useful, but not required stability - retaliation is over the roof already, and stability is not required because you already have 6.5 seconds after using your elite. And of course they would also improve condition removal, something that cannot be a bad thing.
5. Too much retaliation to care about these traits. Unscathed Contender is definitely not the best, but it could tip an edge if you launch a surprise attack(20% of damage is A LOT)
6. Utility skills are something I’ve already replied to with 4. Or so I think.
Gear&Runes:
Traveler 1-3&5 are great. Definitely better than what Lyssa offers.
4 is the same as Lyssa 2.
But where does your math shows the usefulness of extra condition removal and boons from Lyssa? They are strong. Incredibly strong. Insanely strong. Stability, Fury, Regeneration, all of them. It’s what matters. And 25% movespeed from traveler’s? It doesn’t work when you have swiftness! That’s what makes it so unappealing!
Gear:
Moot Point. Full Ascended in your build calculator, meanwhile my build calculator only permits Exotic’s. No wonder your comes out a little bit on top.
Or 30% damage is a lot?
Where did it come from, to begin with?
I don’t really know where it came from. 300 power? but it’s not 300 because of gear point being wrong, and when you count in all the other power bonuses the difference in % shrinks even more. Not to mention your build is going to be a grain of salt behind mine in precision and crit damage - it’s behind even now, with exotic versus ascended.
-20% cooldown duration is a lot. It’s a lot of extra damage dealt. Considering that in combat firstly you try to blow through 2-5 on both sets than spamming 1, I’ll give you a fair estimate of 35% damage done by GS(1). Which means the trait is quite literally increasing the damage by around 13%, not to mention all the other benefits such as more mobility, blinds, et cetera.

it’s better than AH but still bad, damage is lower than a 10,30,0,5,25 build and support is lower (blind spamming on trash). Basically it’s just bad and so is celestial gear

Damage is higher than 10, 30, 0, 5, 25 at least with greatsword(and greatsword damage is higher than anything else with those traits). Blind spamming is something hilarious to me, you can’t exactly spam your Virtue of Justice even if it’s reset on kills.
Alternatively to my build I could see 20-0-0-25-25 sacrificing a major trait(not too many useful ones to slot in) for extra 10% damage.

I’m sorry but I don’t see this build being any good for either pvp or pve.

Low power and crit dmg = definitely not for pve

You can clear a total of 3 conditions every 45 seconds, 6 if you use renewed focus which given the current meta makes it unrealistic for any WvW.

Sooo uuum what is that build for again?

I can show you a far better build in terms of dmg, condi cleansing that has 50% less celestial pieces. Celestial is good, to round your stats and get them in line with what you want. But it’s no means to an end in any case.

Can you bring a better point?
It stands to question whether having ~2.1k power and a huge amount of might(so 2.5) is really low. You’re also having around ~60% critical chance, too. Just “Round Up” the damage stats with infuisions&sigils&runes&foods.
Using Renewed Focus also clears all conditions if you use Rune of Lyssa. That together with Virtue of Resolve usage twice and Signet of Resolve… Not exactly bad, at least not in my opinion.

So, first of all, I’m talking about something like this:

Celestial Gear is worth it. (Because you’re making amazing use of 6 out of 6 stats)
Healing Power is OP with 15+ Points in Honor.
Condition Damage is bad, but not quite as terrible as it could be on a GS Warrior.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
I’d like to point out that you could probably swap out the Supreme Justice, get some actual ascended armor and weapons as well as celestial backpiece.
I’m also assuming that we have 25 stacks of Bloodlust, which are being stacked on a separate set.
Many people will say it’s bad, and will provide the reasoning that you’ll do better with a mix of Berserker and Soldier’s or the likes. Basically, something along the lines that Guardian needs only 5 stats, being:
Power, Precision, Crit Damage, Toughness, Vitality.
They’ll also say that you’re going to lack Power and Precision to make such amount of Crit Damage worthwhile. While that’s true, to counteract this you pack some precision from rune of Lyssa and some Power from sharpening stone, sigil of Battle+sigil of Bloodlust+sigil of Strength at the same time(cool!), and make use of quite the tremendous DPS.
But what about the useless Healing Power and Condition Damage?!
Healing Power – 20 Seconds WvW Encounter
Maximum Possible Heal from Healing Power:
6 dodges+3 PoH Aegis+20 Regeneration ticks + ~150 GS attacks(realistical amount for hitting 5 targets)2 VoResolve Heals, ~18 seconds of VoResolve passive ticks, Active Heal(Signet of Resolve assumed)
6.0
1.2+2.5+3.0+1.5+1.08(~1.0)1.25 =
16.45 Self Heal per 1 Healing Power.
(1 point in Vitality equals 10 HP)
More Realistical Values in 20 second fight:
4 Dodge Rolls. 3 “Pure of Heart” Aegis(4 Aegis procs – but 1 will proc on full HP and therefore will not heal.). 15 seconds of Regeneration. 50 GS attacks. An Active Heal. 2 Virtue of Resolve Activations, and ~15 seconds of Virtue of Resolve passive.
4.0
1.2+1.875+1.0+1.5+0.9+1.25 =
11.725 Self Heal per 1 Healing Power.
The key word is Self. Your Allies are also getting Healed.
Condition Damage
Bad Stat, but somehow jumps on the train with Celestial Gear.

I would suggest you run everything berserker except for 2H weapon, coat and helm. These ones should be celestial because they are imbalanced(they provide more crit damage % than the berserker ones, that’s actually weird).
Of course, if you are at least a little bit interested in WvW, you should run full Celestial Armor and customize trinkets(they provide less crit damage than other ones, another confusing bummer)

Well, I know that dash abilities(such as bulls charge, GS 3 5) can cause you falling damage

Most of my warrior builds are centered around the tactics line for the boon duration. On top of that, my various sets of armor use a mix of boon duration Runes. On one build, Might has a bonus of 65% duration, Swiftness has 65% duration, and everything else has 50%.

It boils down to:

  • FGJ’s Might has a 41.25s duration on a 20 second cooldown
  • SoR’s Might and Swiftness have a 49.5s duration on a 48s cooldown and 1s cast
  • Between FGJ, SoR, Fury eventually maxes out

So, 11 stacks of Might, Swiftness and Fury permanently. I normally take Empowered for the extra damage per boon, which is even more fun when my guardian shout/altruistic healer is around… BOOOOOOOOOONS!!!!

O_O
You alone are easily stacking 10+ minutes of fury over the course, too hardcore -.-.

Well, when I was looking to make money from mystic forge, I saw 2 things.
average GS 76-79 price to order was around 2gold(around a month or a bit more ago)
average GS 80 price was about 3-4 gold on good sell offer…. not counting precursors.
With staves numbers were 1G for 76-79 and 4-5 G on 80. Daggers weren’t far at all either.
I made a precursor staff which I sold for 250 G, earning a total of 275 G from forging exotics…
Yes thats right. I earned 25 gold while trying to get precursors because exotic staves 80 were more expensive than 4 76-79 staves. If I tried greatswords I would probably lose a ton of money… It was wise thing to do because even in the case I wouldn’t get precursor and would get terribly unlucky on lvl 80 staves, I would still cut even. Even in the worst case ever possible.
So you have to know what and then to forge. It’s a toilet for those who aren’t clever, but a blessing for those who are.
Oh and also you reforged lvl 80 exotics, which is close to being stupid because you can sell 1 and buy 2-10 lower level exotics for the same price(= more chances)

The topic title might be a little bit confusing.
Well, I believe you experienced it on multiple occasions.. just spamming spacebar while facing some tricky rock and bamf.. performing 2 quick jumps in a row and getting on top of it.
I’ve wondered for some time how and why did that happen.
I figured that it happened because I pressed space exactly the moment jump ended.
So I just went all-out lazy and made a macros that kept pressing spacebar for me, every 0.001 second.
And what were the results?
I was able to jump multiple times facing walls/rocks with high angles. It doesn’t sound particularly scary… but for example, with this you can jump over wall in old ascalon(aka urban) fractal… Just as I was able to get into ALL towers in wvw and in some keeps. It’s too bad I’m too lazy to convert my experiences into video and post it…
But I found video on youtube utilizing the same glitch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueStp11KjiY#t=1m46s
He starts doing the glitch at 1m46s in the video, and gets in tower almost instantly. Similar structure defect is in ALL towers(and keeps), which means all of them are perfectly jumpable…
I’ve heard about arah JP skipping lupicus.. I haven’t investigated that yet, but I believe it’s very far from hardcore jumping puzzle and much closer related to this same glitch.

Farm cash and buy lodestones like everyone else does.

GW2 manifesto is dead, and you’re saying the truth.

Okay so we are back again crying about “the grind”
This game has no grind.
Getting max gear takes no time to get.

The only “grind” comes from people who want the “cool” “flashy” weapons.

I like a balanced set (Power, though+vit) for my characters to use for pve, I have all professions so 8 chars.

Taking in account the Ascalon Catacombs is the fastest and easier dg to do to get tokens for a full exo gear i made this calculation:

Armor: 1200 tokens for 1 set
2h Weapon: 390 for 1 weapon
1h Weapons: 2 weapons can cost from 210 to 300 tokens -> (300+210/2)x2= 510
2h underwater weapon: 390

Every char should have an armor, offhand weapon, secondary weapon and an underwater weapon so:

1200+390+510 = 2100 tokens for every char (16800 tokens for 8 chars)

Let’s say i do Ascalon Catacombs path 1-2-3 one time every day (just 1 time to still have a life) so i get 66 tokens every path = 60+6 from bags => 198 tokens a day

2100/66= 31,8 times i need to do AC to give exotic equip to just 1 char

31,8 × 8 = 254,5 times i need to do AC to give all chars an exotic equipment.

Conclusion: Repeating Ascalon Catacombs 254,5 times to give a basic equipment to my character.

Basic becouse jewelry and back piece and other avaliable weapons are not included.

Font Wikipedia:

Grinding is a term used in video gaming to describe the process of engaging in repetitive tasks during video games. […] One reason that is less influenced by player choice is a lack of game content or to be able to battle stronger enemies. […] While grinding’s potential to cause players to stop being entertained may be seen as contradictory to good game design. etc etc etc.

In you opinion, is repeating 254,5 times AC dungeon suitable to represent this description?

Repeating AC for 84,85 days, every day path 1,2, and 3, is grind or not?

Thanks for reading sorry for the wall of text.
Sincerly

Just fine for me.
Now split the number back in 8 because nobody wants to run it for 8 characters. What are you? AC hardcore fan? You really want your characters look all the same?
Not like you can also run other dungeons(multiple choices) and buy parts from trading post for the money you get. You also can get dungeon loot drops from chests now… And mind you you get 60 for path, 3 for spider, 3 for kholer and 3 for troll. you may get 60-69 depending on what you skip and what you don’t.
So basically:
You exaggerated grind because you took into consideration it for 8 characters and not for one, as well as considering every single piece of equipment available.
You are also not obliged to do that either. There is a ton of places where to get best gear possible.

You need to give some background on how you like to play, what you are looking for in a profession, what other games you have played with what other character archetypes.

I like to be useful in WvWvW, I like to not die the second I’m looked at, I like CC, and I hate pets in all forms. The AI are useless. So I was thinking along the lines of guardian and mesmer… but I want the opinions of the forums.

Sounds like you wouldn’t like mesmer after all because clones are kind of pets.
I think under these criteria you should choose between elementalist(bunkerstyle), warrior or guardian. But tbh almost every class can fit under your criteria assuming they don’t have pets. It mostly depends on their build.

Running with swiftness makes no sense for me compared to what would be riding a mount be, either. I’m a golden knight(thematically) but I feel like a jumping maniac with GS/sword+warhorn(warrior) due to constant dashing and 100% swiftness uptime :P it works, but it doesn’t seem very.. fitting. I’d prefer to ride a mount, like… 50% movement speed bonus unstackable with swiftness(plus cool visual of armored horse for me). Would match my moving speed now(dashes + 33% speed constantly)

Do we have WvWvW class balance?

in WvW

Posted by: Evalia.7103

Evalia.7103

If anything I’m bothered about is mesmer interaction with golems(portal, as if that’s not enough mass quickness so golems do double damage…), as well as ability to move zerg inside already captured towers/keeps.
I think in this way mesmer IS currently superior to other classes. Because he’s providing unique benefits to key wvw aspects.
Rest feels pretty balanced. Crying about thieves won’t help at all because you know, it’s not true at all. Good player can begin dodging exactly after first hit. Can you say a thief will take you out in 1 single attack? No way. In a combo of 3 attacks like steal+C&D+backstab, maybe. But the moment he steals you… you already know he’s here. React now, and not 0.5 seconds later.
Also, what’s not so balanced is level scaling. I can almost feel sorry for that lvl 7 thief in wvw who tried to kill me with shortbow… Even though I was running damage-orientied spec, I was still basically standing in place using /laugh because it would take eternity for him to kill me. On a contrary a couple of attacks chopped him down completely.

Is 5 Signets terribad? Discuss.

in Warrior

Posted by: Evalia.7103

Evalia.7103

1. You can use both FGJ and signet of might with a 4 signet build
2. Banners, when untraited, have a much lower aoe radius. The signet build (signet of fury) offers you higher mobility.
3. I agree healing signet offers less of a healing burst than HS, but with signet mastery, it becomes a 16s cd healing, which is almost as good as HS, but you’ll just have to live with it for a signet build.

I can see where a signet build might outshine other builds in dungeons. Imagine having 5 warriors in a party. 4 of them will have FGJ so you will always have 25 stacks of might. 3 of them will have OMM, that’s a constant 25 stacks of vuln. 1 of them will run banners for even more buffs. What’s left? A signet build would get all of those buff AND the signet buffs.

2nd point is a full lie. AOE size is very decent, go check it out. And you can carry it around too, if that matters(just to repeat myself, you carry it around for moving faster just as well. So why not?)
3rd point is even more of a lie. when traited, it’s still a very bad healing(worse than passive if you consider it having 17 1/4 CD because of cast time), and obviously very far from Healing surge. Plus, this trait forces you to giev up a solid crit chance bonus that you would have otherwise. Sounds like an awful tradeoff(you would get more crit chance with this trait than with signet trait, just to point out. And the moment you say active heal, passive does not work anymore and you lose passive healing as well as 40 precision from trait).
5 warriors dungeon run sounds weird to say the least. How often will you find that? Around one time in 4096 times, if you are playing a warrior yourself and assuming all classes have the same chance(8×8×8x8). It’s a very specific situation, not worth to take it into account. Besides that 3 OMM is not constant 25 stacks of vulnerability with it’s 5 second uptime on bosses with 30 sec CD(10s normal, vulnerability cut in half on bosses)… not even close, no.
4 FGJ is overkill of overmight, and you will have 10+minutes of fury too
Yes, indeed that would be the case that after using 5 OMM, 3-4 FGJ and all 4 banners, it might be worth it to flush out signet of might or signet of fury. Wicked thing to do in any normal conditions that are not this special case.

Is 5 Signets terribad? Discuss.

in Warrior

Evalia.7103

It is mainly because they give too minor bonuses.
Signet of might gives much less than FGJ does, to you. And FGJ is AOE. Using it’s active means sacrificing 40 precision and passive might for 1/2 duration. Plain out BAD.
Signet of fury, i’m pretty sure you aren’t using it’s active on greatsword. Which means you’ve paid a slot of utility for 130 precision. The moment you step in a dungeon, banner of discipline is much better. No, in fact it is much better everywhere, if you aren’t that lazy to carry it around. It has dash and swiftness, so it’s not such a bad idea to carry it around either.(90 precision and 10% crit damage far outmatches 130 precision, it’s AOE, you can combo it with fields to get some nasty benefits(good example – fire field – 3 AOE might for 20 seconds, almost free FGJ, and you can do a burst finisher twice with banner, as well as pop swiftness and fury boons for 100% swiftness just from SoR and banner button). AWFUL(unless you utilize it’s active, then it’s GOOD)
Healing signet healing is low compared to other heals.
I’m assuming you are staying on full adrenaline because of your traits. Then:
Healing Surge S3 heal : 281 1/3 HP/S
Healing Signet heal : 200 HP/S passive, 166 HP/S active(you can’t have both so basically it’s bad)
And then there’s the fact that you mostly get damaged in bursts. So you want burst healing too. BAD
Dolyak Signet is plain out inferior to Balanced Stance. It’s passive benefit is 90 toughness, which is basically… unnoticeable. Active is on a small channel and does not break stuns, which means that you can’t break free out of stun or fear… The time where you most need it. And it’s cooldown is also bigger on top of that. 90 toughness just isn’t worth it. BAD
Signet of Stamina is good. But it doesn’t stack with vigor, so be careful – you probably shouldn’t use it together with vigor. It is also not something you are going to use every fight and everywhere. GOOD
Signet of Rage is good mainly because of low uptime on warbanner. But sometimes it’s better to be generous and switch to warbanner. It’s usually when you expect next fight to be particularly hard to rally your allies. GOOD

Given how most bursts are also not signature in damage, in fact all of them but killshot/eviscrate/forceful shot are not primarily focused on direct damage(pretty sure it doesn’t work with flurry bleeding).
So? Well, it would be fair to make it in middle ground at somewhere 0.5% damage increase per point. 3% is just for lolz. I mean, compare that to 300 power. Whats going to give you more damage on burst ability?

You just keep proving yourself how narrow your build is.
It’s pointless defending something that way. Maybe it’s better 1 in 1000 cases, but you say about team groups! There won’t be a case in which it would be better if I consider 5 man group.
You should start doing math and check out how much actually AOE benefits to your team. You valued 130 precision over 90 precision plus 10% critical damage plus a trait to apply vulnerability stacks. It is your choice, I can’t argue about it. But your team would be grateful, as your total output would be just 450 precision, 50% critical damage and 3-4 extra vulnerability stacks on that boss compared to 130 precision from sigil. It’s also probably a lie that everyone in your party can keep up swiftness. I would never believe that, so stop telling me it’s useless.
I’m running a similar build, but I’m just referring to it as your build, upgraded. I would’ve run similar utilities if I would be bad at math, I guess.
Just to clear up, signet of fury versus banner of discipline.

Best Warrior Healing Skill?

in Warrior

Posted by: Evalia.7103

Evalia.7103

I don’t even.
Somebody just exchanged a healing spell for 2% crit chance in front of my eyes.
Well, why not, go ahead. Now I just have to think of a place where I will never ever need burst healing, and it’s just fine! Can’t think of one except open world PvE, though.
Don’t forget that you put it instead of more vulnerability that would kinda give the same damage.. Signet of fury is a lame choice of utility anyway because the second you compare it to a banner of discipline(90 precision versus 90 precision and 10% crit damage AOE with pickup for swiftness, fury, and dash, is this real?), you’ve got to realize how cheesy it is unless you aim for active of it – which you don’t.
Now, there are superior alternatives in a way to signet of fury and signet of might – banner of discipline and for great justice. They are a bit different, yes, but they are still better. It only leads me off to question why would somebody still use that. I don’t need to prove to you that 90 precision and 10% critical damage, as well as extra swiftness and fury, all AOE, then dash on top of that and double burst finisher are better than 90 precision, now do I?
