You could’ve farmed the glorious hero armor. That is the most unique armor ingame. You still can farm the regular glorious armor true the pvp track.
Requires some time to farm a complete set + you can’t buy it with gold nor gems ^^

:D I did get the heavy and medium glorious armor, I was glad they gave us something fun to get in PVP. But once I obtained them, I found myself liking the look of gem store skins and common dungeon armors more. The light armor was just a kick in the unmentionable areas for me, very ugly. To obtain these were fairly easy, just because you get experience towards your track win or lose.

Do you understand the difference between Glorious HERO armor and Glorious armor?

I’ll criticise it, honestly.
I mean, the idea is neat and probably has some value, but in sPVP stealth reviving is essentially the same as losing you a point…
And you’re not really good outside of anything else.
Why not stick to the Venom Share if you want something that feels “support-ish”? Venoms on your allies as well as speed/fury/might(Venom Might, swiftness/fury/might on steal) is perhaps the best support I’ve ever felt from a thief.

I’ve given up any hope of any positive reaction from Anet over any of our voiced concerns. I simply cannot expend any more energy hoping for improvement.

This isn’t so much a goodbye thread, as a well wishing to everyone who is still playing. I hope they finally fix all the havoc they have wrought.

All the best.

You know, I always wanted to ask people who leave what are they going to play if not GW2.
The only times I’ve stopped playing guild wars 2 was to either “try out” another MMORPG and send it to hell for not living up to my expectations or play LoL, hearthstone, starcraft2…. games from different genres, that is.
And, well…

For s/d and wvw id go for either shadow arts or acro. Not both a little. Trickery is Like a must and so is mug.
In the end a solid s/d built uses either 2/0/6/0/6 or 2/0/0/6/6. These two trait specs maximise defense while having decent offense. The First relies on stealth and blinds/dazes from tactical strike, the other on dodging. Both are very good.
There are ofc many other trait specs but i prefer These two.

Any special reasoning why do you think a mix is not good?
I’m personally using 2/0/2/4/6 and haven’t lost to a single thief in WvW. Ever.
Condi removal in SA and Hard to Catch/Vigor in acrobatics. Hard to Catch is a must to stay alive against shenanigans, and condi removal is also pretty much a must.
Also more offensive mix’d S/D like 2/6/0/0/6 can work to the better good in WvW.

WvW Thief Gameplay

in Thief

Evalia.7103

In organized guild runs(wvw fights) thieves are used as parts of havoc squads used to sneak up on enemy zerg from behind and target those pesky berserker elementalists (and all the other squishy damage dealers)meteor showering the main force.
Personally I have a full berserker thief I am using to roam alone or with a couple of friends. Even alone it’s easily possible to go for any kind of objective: All you need is to build an alpha or omega golem(which you can stealth and teleport with some practice) and you’ll be able to take down a gate of an objective in less than 5 minutes, and hide inside of enemies arrive either cap it if they don’t(You can kill tower lord in ~40 seconds and keep lord in ~90 seconds with full berserker build and having a golem tank for you – NPCs will aggro on an unmanned golem).
And an alternate way to capture big objectives is sneaking inside with an enemy zerg and staying there. Also fun

Golems - What affects them and what doesn't

in WvW

Posted by: Evalia.7103

Evalia.7103

So, browsing everything that should affect golems:
WXP:
Siege Golem Mastery + Siege Might; Also Guard Killer/Defense against Guards/Siege Bunker/Mercenary affect it in one way or another.
Gear:
You want a set that maximizes power. Berserker and Soldier come to mind, with the first one dealing extra damage to everything that is crittable, and the second one being tougher.
Runes&Sigils:
Superior Runes of Scholar for +10% Damage increase/power benefit.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_the_Scholar
Superior Sigil of Force/Night for +5% and +10% at night respectively.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil_of_Superior_Force
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Sigil_of_the_Night
Superior Sigil of Bloodlust for +250 power(on another weaponset)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Sigil_of_Bloodlust
Food&Nourishment:
Superior Sharpening stones. Also means that if you wear soldier, you’ll deal ever so slightly more damage to gates than if you wear berserker since you’ll have a little bit more power.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Potent_Superior_Sharpening_Stone
As for food, anything with +100 Power, or +200 power for 30 seconds after kill.
Booster:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Strength_Booster
Does increase damage to everything by 5% except enemy players. I’m pretty sure gates are classified as “monsters” too, but could be wrong…
Also as for player skills, it is possible to teleport golem(And notoriously easy to do with http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infiltrator%27s_Arrow, but ALL other teleports also work), stealth it(if stealthed character enters it, the golem will be stealthed), and haste it… I want to know if I missed something :P

The White Swords - a Broader look

in WvW

Posted by: Evalia.7103

Evalia.7103

People are already going crazy with changes that have not even been tested. Every single Joe feels that he’s an expert, and he knows exactly what’s going to happen if white swords were to be removed.
In fact, it’s practically impossible to predict how things go. Will it devolve to simple capping like it is in EotM? Or will it actually encourage players to defend objectives?
Of course, most arguments against removing white swords come with the undeniable fact that defending and scouting is neither rewarding, neither fun.
I think that expanding the upgrade system with more different defensive upgrades available including automatic scout devices(eotm observatory kind) and, well, more interactive defences and even stronger NPCs is in place to be if white swords are removed(I’ll remind you that since the game has been launched, we’ve got Ascended Gear, WXP, many other bonuses, new traits, and the player experience has risen greatly – Right now I am fully capable of soloing Keeps and Towers alone in a timespan of 10 minutes including gates(paper keep takes ~9-10 minutes to destroy 2 gates and kill champ with a single golem), even fully upgraded ones. And I do that on T1 server, too.)
The way at look at it is that while removing White Swords by itself may not be the greatest idea(though we have no idea which way it will go), it provides more possibilities and opportunities to WvW, especially with other changes that can come together with this specific change.

Golems - What affects them and what doesn't

Evalia.7103

Golem mastery and siege might. Dont think you can give golems might etc.

That’s just the tip of an iceberg, however. There seems to be more to it. I’m also pretty sure Guard Stacks and various % modifiers also affect golems.

Since Traveller/Speed Runes boost golem movement speed, I would imagine Ogre and Scholar runes boost its damage.

Would be interesting to check how Scholar works. Golem HP, Player HP(so 100% time active if you’re inside golem), or not at all?
Apparently all the equipment stats are added on top of base golem stats(or vice versa), and sigils with runes keep their effects. Still Scholar seems to be questionable to say the least.

Evalia.7103

Breezed through thread again(and added some of mine, and sorted in order of “plausibility”):
1. Off-hand torch. Torch+Thief sounds great in my opinion. And that’s by the way, a Condition off-hand weapon. Off-hand pistol and Dagger are not really all that condition-based no matter how you look at it – they are all about direct damage and utility conditions. It’s a weapon that creates new build diversity.
1. Off-hand sword. Now, this sounds awesome. But the disadvantages are that it really gives us nothing new. We already have direct damage builds with pistol/dagger off-hand. What unique could an Off-hand sword bring? And is a Thief with 2 swords any plausible? Isn’t he a warrior then?
3. Rifle OR Longbow(not both for sure) as a long-range “sniper” weapon. Most likely Rifle, but overall unlikely since that would result in unhealthy gameplay in my opinion.
Aside from these 4, I don’t really see any other viable somewhat easily implementable options for thief.
If I was a game designer and had to choose a SINGLE weapon set to add to a class(do you expect more? are you nuts? It would pwn and destroy all the balance and will require astonishing amounts of work), for Thief it would be a Torch.

Fastest movement: Infiltrator's Arrow VS HS

in Thief

Posted by: Evalia.7103

Evalia.7103

IA is the clear winner because as people above said, it’s the same distance.
It’s shorter than 2 heartseekers(under swiftness) for the same cost, but because you also get to run(animation is shorter than 2 heartseekers) it evens out.
So why it makes it better?
Well, because it is ONLY EVEN when you have swiftness and are out of combat. Combat? No Swiftness? Even worse, movement speed reduction?
And that’s straight line distance. IA also helps with vertical movement.
And our 3rd contender which, however, requires a target: Loop InStrike.
Costs 5(3 with 15sec return timer) initiative(Heartseeker:3, IA:6) and covers 600 distance(heartseeker: almost 600 under swiftness, IA: 900), does not prevent standard movement(unlike the other two, I’m pretty sure both IA and heartseeker prevent normal movement for about 0.75 seconds – the heartseeker literally and IA is doing that by bringing you to the targeted point even if you move forward during 0.75 seconds)
That’s actually is slightly better than the other two assuming you always move where you want – makes it great for chasing down a target. But for simple movement, looping it on a single target is usually not possible. Looping it on multiple targets will make you move zig-zag at the very least, which is not good. Also can’t be reliably used to climb hills like IA can be.

Why the discrimination against Celestial?

in Crafting

Posted by: Evalia.7103

Evalia.7103

Celestial gear is ridiculously hard to get. It has to be self-crafted, because every part is accountbound on this stat combo exclusively. Weird enough but ok. But also the charged crystals are time gated. WHY? I have tons of completely useless quarts. Why is the conversion still time gated? Ok, go farm some quartz nodes and just pray to RNGesus for charged drops. But… turns out the nodes are accountbound and there are only 2 or 3 in total… Why? Why do you hate celestial stats that much that it absolutely must be a complete pain in the posterior to craft a single piece? Even most of the ascended time gated materials are tradable which makes it easier to obtain ascended than celestial. Is celestial really so completely overpowered that it validates requiring an entire month to craft?

People keep shouting about all these massive issues that have been here since release and is not fixed and yet I have never actually seen anyone that have said WHAT these issues are and HOW to fix them.

erm ok jst a few to keep you amused.
zerk meta
pvp lack of content
condition in pve
lack of challenging content
lack of rewarding content
gem conversion
precursor crafting
zerg as the answer aka mindless and boring farming instead of fun content
that would be a great start!

Zerk meta is not 100% set. Even in PvE we can see Soldier’s and Condi teams doing their jobs on Wurm/Tequatl.
And what’s so bad about going for full damage if you have enough skill to keep yourself alive? psst pls.
PvP lack of content… last thing I remember was removing raid of the capricorn and adding a decent new map(But not into rotation)… which is crap. WHY!?!?! I want capricorn back and this new map implemented/tweaked. Would be all we need… in my opinion at least.
Condition in PvE well… It’s not even that hard to fix it in my opinion.. Maybe the code is super-wired…
challenging/rewarding content > lies
Go ahead and solo dungeons/keeps/Great Jungle Wurm/hit top pvp ranks… here’s your challenge.
And rewards? Well rewards for solo dungeons and world bosses… are decent.
Gem Conversion well it was fine? and supposedly will be fixed in next patch?
Precursor crafting… Nice but not necessary in my opinion. I’ve had some fun with rares/exotics in mystic forge… Found it better than farming it outright lol…
OK any more complaints?

The seller doesn’t get the Eternity skin, he gets only the Sunrise and Twilight skins. The buyer, however, gets all 3 if he binds the Eternity to himself.

Like I said, whenever I find an exotic that I don’t have the skin for, whenever I tell it to “Unlock skin” it always becomes soul/account bound. How can someone sell Sunrise or Twilight and still have the skins without having to make two of them? Wouldn’t they become bound once they unlock the skin?

Of course they would, but Eternity resulting from the merging of Twilight and Sunrise will not be.

Evalia.7103

I’ve met a few great charr thieves in my day, and while it’s true that larger models ‘telegraph’ their moves,, it’s not really much of a disadvantage.

The main reason for that is, other than the asura player who purposefully chooses the smallest model in order to exploit the animation/tell system, we’re all basically in the same boat. Seeing a human do the big windmill loopdeeloop with their arm to apply basilisk or hide in shadows is essentially just as telegraphed as a charr.

To avoid this, you just apply those things from within stealth, which you should be doing as a general rule of thumb anyhow!

The most annoying characters to me are purposefully ultrasmall afro asuras, I just know they are going to be bad news on sight.

I’m playing smallest size asura. You should try it sometime. I also have biggest sized charr.
The difference is not even that much in visibility. It’s how it feels. Charr feels like a slug. Asura feels like some hyper-mobile rocket.

Is the maize balm rat farm an exploit?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Evalia.7103

Evalia.7103

In a player driven economy, the demand of an item surpassing the supply generated by the playerbase will increase the value of it. While there are some items in these bags that are not based around cosmetics (the low drop rate of T6 mats), the price of these bags is directly relative to the cosmetic value that is being placed on them. While currently profitable, that profit is derrived directly from other players and their willingness to play a higher price. In essence, this is a transfer of wealth not wealth generation.

As far as this specific spawn of ambients is concerned, it’s definatly one of the faster ones to farm. As long as the playerbase is willing to pay for that item, and the demand remains higher than the supply, it will be profitable. This is not an exploit, it’s the playerbase saying “thank you for farming this, because we didn’t want to”.

I think you’re mistaken on the fact that everyone who wants to can farm it. In fact, most of the people cannot do the rat-balm-farm if they wanted. Because they completed the halloween story already. Which is why, people who didn’t and are using the exploit are put in a very profitable position which is relatively unfair to the rest of the population. It’s not that we don’t want to. It’s that we CAN’T.

Lunatic Inquisition - Mad King Says is broken

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Evalia.7103

Evalia.7103

Lunatic Inquisition is a completely unbalanced mess, largely because the 5 “Mad King Says” skills are guaranteed kills for ghosts. Sure, it’s an activity and not meant to be the paragon of balance, but it favors ghosts over villagers to the point that it’s nearly unplayable. It’s extremely difficult and time consuming for villagers to win the game. Most villagers would rather just suicide into ghosts because it puts them on the winning team without making the match last 15 minutes.

Even though many people complained about how unbalanced it was last year, it was brought back with no changes. PLEASE consider rebalancing this skill(s) Anet, I want to look forward to holiday activities not dread them. I’m really disappointed too because Lunatic Inquisition has the potential to be really fun.

Current version:

  1. Mad King Says Shrug – 1.2k range, 1.5s cast time, 50s cooldown
  2. Mad King Says Cower – 1.2k range, 1.5s cast time, 30s cooldown
  3. Mad King Says Salute – 1.2k range, 1.5s cast time, 40s cooldown
  4. Mad King Says Ponder – 1.2k range, 1.5s cast time, 60s cooldown
  5. Mad King Says Dance – 1.2k range, 1.5s cast time, 70s cooldown

- Commands target villager to perform one of the following emotes: shrug, cower, salute, ponder, or dance. The emote chosen is based on which skill was used.
- Target villager drops all held items.
- Inflicts the “Mad King Says (Emote)” effect on the target for 10 seconds, changing their skills into various emote skills.
- If the correct emote skill is used within 10 seconds: the effect is removed and the villager is forced to channel in place as they perform the emote, disabling them (length varies). The villager also scores 15 points on the scoreboard and gains swiftness for 10 seconds.
- If an incorrect emote skill is used, or if none are used, within 10 seconds: the effect ends, damaging and stunning the target for ~1 second. The ghost also scores 15 points on the scoreboard.
- While the Mad King Says effect (10s duration) is on a villager, the ghost that applied it has their other Mad King Says skills disabled.

My reworked version:

  1. Mad King Says – 1.2k range, 1s cast time, kitten cooldown

- Commands target villager to perform one of the following emotes: salute, cower, dance, bow, or ponder. Emote is chosen randomly.
- Target villager drops all held items.
- Inflicts the “Mad King Says (Emote)” effect on the target for 10 seconds, changing each of their first 5 skills into a random emote skill. Targets will only be given one of each emote skill at a time.
- If the correct emote skill is used within 10 seconds: the effect is removed and the villager is forced to channel in place as they perform the emote, disabling them for 3 seconds. The villager also scores 15 points on the scoreboard and gains swiftness for 13 seconds.
- If an incorrect emote skill is used, or if none are used, within 10 seconds: the effect ends, damaging and stunning the target for 1.5 seconds. The ghost also scores 15 points on the scoreboard.
- This skill cannot be used again until the ghost scores a kill or assist on a villager.

Bullkitten
Once you play “Mad King Says!” correctly, it puts your stealth off cooldown. and you have time before doing anything too.
Turn the corner. Pick the correct emote. Stealth Immediately.
You’re 200% safe. Yup.
Now with player characters playing for ghosts in lunatic inqisition… I’ve already had lots of “fun” getting my Villager destroyed by a Thief… I just raged and never came back to this crappy game anymore because of it. I mean i’m honestly expected to do something as a Villager when a Thief( yes, real player character in game) attacks me? this bug MUST be fixed.

I was happy about being able to SEE my Infiltrator’s Arrow projectile.
Yes, many people say that it will make you less unpredictable.
But oh come on people Sizer plays with Bolt/Incinerator and I don’t see anyone whining how it makes his moves more clear to see? Because clearly telegraphs are for the greater good?

Double-clicking macro. Bannable?

Context:

I play an engineer and due to the awkwardness of the Flamethrower #2 skill as a blast finisher, I need to always hardcore spam-click the ‘2’ button for it to blast the flamethrower’s number 4’s fire field.

So after a couple of hours of gameplay, my finger’s half-broken and in pain.

So the question is, is using a macro to double-click for me so that I can save my dying finger bannable?

Look.
Alcohol isn’t allowed in the student’s dormitory I live in. Even though ALL the people are 18+ here(legal to drink Alcohol). As our dormitory head said, “Alcohol isn’t permitted” is equal to “It’s fine if you don’t get seen together with it”.
Do you get the analogy?
If you don’t well… Keep breaking your fingers.

^^ like many rules, it’s there to make sure they can bust you if it causes an issue, if it never causes an issue… well, who cares?

Well, so can a macros that does a double-click cause an issue?
:O Alcohol seems pretty extreme compared with it, hehe.

EDIT:
And even more mindboggling news.
Sometimes Double-Clicking is ONE action.
Oh. My. God. Two clicks perform only 1 action?! Who could have thought! Putting something in mystic forge, for instance.
So not only it’s pseudo-fine if you do it silently… In fact. It’s 200% fine since it’s two clicks for ONE action, right?

I think support is your best bet. Forum people can’t help you with that Besides, I think precursors should not be forgeable with other exotics… but yeah, w/e
