Personally, I think people play the same. They just like ninjaing and sieging stuff nonetheless. And for those that don’t PPT, it doesn’t matter.

This is not a middle ground. This is the same as going back to 3-2-1.

Your No.1 job is to roam with portal. Don’t be afraid to take any 1v1 except for DH. Try not to 2v2 with a support. Your solo damage is not enough to win the fight. Your biggest presence in teamfight comes from moa, chaos storm, well of eternity, F3 aoe daze, F4 aoe distort. Make the best use of these tools for your team in the teamfight.

Spot on.

F3 AoE daze is great for interrupting enemy stomps.

F4 AoE invuln is great for giving your teammates safe stomps.

Never stop moving.

Can you explain the use of the portal in detail? I see it in a lot of builds but I’ve never actually seen anyone use it.

When do you put down entre? When do you complete the portal? With only a short time to keep entre open and a shorter time to use the complete portal, how do you make this effective?

One simple idea is to put portal at mid and you can roam freely to side nodes. If some one is following you, you can immediately portal to mid and support team fight.

It is always good for mesmer come in the middle of the teamfight so many won’t be able to pay attention to your moa and burst.

You can also portal at side nodes. If you win team fight at mid, you can immediately portal away to solidify your advantage. If not, you can escape and make sure the score loss is as small as possible.

All in all, portal gives you control over two nodes. You can make choice where to go when your portal is up. It also puts pressure on opponent. They will always have to pay attention to a node where you lay down your portal. It works great against slow but powerful DHs.

For meta condition chrono:

DH hard counters mesmer. Don’t fight them unless you are an expert.

Thief and warrior are the next two biggest threat. You can beat them by playing carefully. But one mistake you will eat huge damage.

Druid can outsustain mesmer in a 1v1. But if you know how to burst with moa, you can take them down relatively fast.

Scrapper loses to mesmer with their meta build. But they can sustain quite a while and you probably wan to moa. Healer tempest also feels similar. You need to know how to burst to kill them.

Revenant and necro are your best targets. It will always be to your team’s advantage if you single them out. They are easy kill in a 1v1.

Said this a few times but will say again.

Hunter’s verdict needs to be evadeable.

There is too little counter play. You either need invulnerability or on-demand stability. If they are on CD, you are doomed. This is simply way too strong against squishy builds.

I think there is also another issue. Since they don’t play their alt accounts as much but slots are taken it means there are actually not that many people that queue in that rating so system tries to make up for it making top 250 facing teams below 1700 which leads to lopsided games and only 2 pts gains per win (yes it is a thing).

I can confirm this. I am only low diamond but keep having to play against PZ players again and again. The climbing slope seems to be really steep past that point.

Actually since last night there are 2 players that have 6 accounts in top 25 (both duo queuing). I wont name any names but yea considering these players have participated in world championships, most other players don’t have a chance to beat them unless they add all of their accounts and queue dodge….

This is getting a bit absurd really, also having AP associated to these pvp tiers makes no sense. Please remove the Achievement points at least.

Worse than I thought but comes as no surprise.

I already suggested this would happen before S5 started citing a previous example in S1 where team PZ had all the top Guild Challenger leader spots. People were like yeah dude nah these pros will fight for the top spot and not bother doing this! Guess what, they have and are doing this lmao.

Hope this gets addressed pretty soon.

Yeah. NA top scene feels pretty lame as the players seem to be content with stomping the lesser again and again. Not sure about EU as I heard the competition is healthier over there.

But this really feels like a complete player issue rather than something Anet can address though.

hmm someone (I think MaPko? Sorry if I got your name wrong) made a video guide that has this bug documented but his thread is gone for some reason :o

Look at 3:10. Basically you can work around this bug by having a target and jump at the end of channel. Since phantasm only spawn then you’re on the ground, this buys you slightly more time to get pass that evade frame. I’ve tried plenty of times and this does work, though if opponent has crazy evade time frame like blurred frenzy/unrelentless assault it’s still prone to miss.

Edit: Further details inside though, looks like you’re not suppose to hit another skill before the phantasm spawn so its like 0.5s of just walking after you land on the ground. I haven’t have that problem much when I tested a while ago.

This doesn’t work anymore.
Now if you use jump trick, your phantasm simply won’t spawn.

Before i post it in the bugs forum, I wanted to be sure that it is a bug.
I am sure most of you noticed that sometimes the Phantasm won’t come out.

Actually, if you dodge Echo of Memory shorty before the phantasm is summoned. The Chronomancer won’t be able to summon it. The same goes for invulnerable and such.
This so unreliable….

So please, what do you think? is it a bug? or is it intended?

I haven’t tested it myself, but I can tell you that invuln will block phantasm summons. Dodge/evade/block/aegis should not. If those affect echo of memory, then it’s absolutely a large bug.

It has been like this for a long time.

Dodging the shield4 phantasm spawn is an important thing to do when dueling condition mesmer.

But afaik block don’t prevent the phantasm spawan

The ele importance gets amplifed because the insane amount of DH spam.

IMHO, players usually die to either DH or reaper pressure. Ele help against both of them greatly.

Yep this is totally true. Those in legy are just going up now, and others are frozen in current divisions. And those players will bash you and defend the current system that it is ok. How about I give you my account and try playing few matches in gold division? See what’s gonna happen…..Your skill doesn’t mean anything there. It is pure luck. You either gonna get the team that is at your skill level, or totally oposite. W/L W/L W/L W/L ….

A top tier player can easily get your account out of gold in a day or two.

2v4 and 4v2s

That is because you have too few top level players. Obviously those few duo queuers dominate the top table. And if at given time, you only have 1 or 3 such pairs, you have an imbalance problem.

Hopefully this season can help produce more players who give pro-levels a run for their money. If you have way more than 3 of such quality duos, there will be more competition.

You might just be caught up in a really unlucky streak.
Also losing streak make you mad, and you will, in general, perform worse with that mindset.
I would suggest you team up with some one who you know is decent to change things up a bit.

Record your own gameplay and analyze.
Practise dueling in matchups you have trouble, preferably against better players who can give you advice.
Follow some high tier player stream, and get at least the basic idea of how they play.

It’s almost like DH has a low skill floor or something.

That’s a big balance problem though. Every class should have about the same skill floor, otherwise 1 class will dominate the lower end of PvP because its just too effective despite not even knowing how to play.

And for this game, lower end of PvP actually takes up way more than half of the PvP population.

any power war should do. Rifle is the best weapon vs guard. Dont forget that pp thief is also autowin vs guards.

That is interesting.
GS x/shield warrior has potential to beat DH due to signet of might. But overall I think it is still slight to DH’s favor because he can kite. Rifle can probably change the outlook.

Complain about condition seems to be politically correct thing to do.

However, in reality, 6/9 classes are better on power builds. 1 has about equal condition and power builds.

Only necro, mesmer and warrior can legit condition ‘spam’. Even those classes have about 50-50 split on power and condition damage. And you can counter all of them. Necro can’t survive focus fire w/o support. Mesmer is great when isolated but can barely do damage in teamfight because tons of cleave on clones. Warrior damage comes in telegraphed burst. So learn to dodge.

Also, ele and engi super great at condition cleansing and supporting. You have good counter to conditions. Most meta builds have plenty cleanse for self surviving already. You just need to adapt to meta.

I can only talk sPvP, but I’d call it viable. I’d go Marauder over Berserker Amulet. You should burst hard enough, anything more is outweighed by the added vitality. Still pretty glasssy.

Demolisher amulet is a good alternative if you take inspiration line so you have enough condition cleanse.

Neither. This is how MMR works. The more accurate it gets, the less it moves.

I am sorry but this makes absolutely no sense at all.

If some one is on a winning streak, how can a stagnant MMR help him get to where his real skill rating is.

IMHO, MMR volatility should be used to determine match making. If someone’s MMR is volatile, he has large probability to match against players further away from his MMR. So he can move towards his real skill rating quicker.

The game still tries to force you into 50% win rate. It’s so contradictory it baffles me. This starting season is also a big kittening chaos; as they stated everyone starts the same, matchmaking a disaster so far.

No it doesn’t.
You only get into 50-50 when you are close to your true MMR.

The OP got bad placement games so he ended up way lower than he should be. That is why he won 16 out of 19 game. Work as intended.

ToP 250 "Games Played" Limit Consideration

Tbh, they will have to play at least a game every 3 days (so decay doesn’t hit them) to maintain themselves in the leaderboards. In the end, most of them will have played over 100 matches.

Season lasts like 2 month.
So at minimum, some one can play like only 30 games to remain on the leader board.

Compared to pre June 2015, gw2 PvP has both a lot more damage and defense measures now. But the defensive raw stats got shaved quite hard due to S1 bunker meta. The end result is that the game pace becomes even faster and tolerance for error is smaller.

So it gets much more important to know how to manage your cool downs and how to do specific counters to certain skills and even some passive procs. Spend some time learning current meta builds should help you get back to it

That means placement matches put you in a fair position. You are playing those 50-50 games.

But ultimately, you can gradually inflate your MMR with more and more players coming in and play. Because you have a larger MMR pool to earn your rating from.

Obviously another way to move up is to become even better players. Duo queue can help a bit but there is always a limit unless you improve your skill.

e.g. 300- loss = 3 pips
300+ loss = 4 pips

Placement matches can be erroneous.
You got place to somewhere lower than your actual skill level. That is why you can have high win ratio.
Some other players might be put higher than they actually are, say in plat. So they start losing and will eventually drop to where they should be.

Why AP for the top 250 titles is not cool

First off: I am not expecting much sympathy for this issue, but I will voice my opinion anyway.

So this patch introduced exclusive titles for the top 250 pvp players of the season. Normally this would be fine, but they also give 6 AP each. I would propose removing the AP from these titles.

Rank 1: God of PvP.
Rank 2: Legendary Demigod.
Rank 3: Immortal Legend.
Rank 4 – 10: Unyielding Legend.
Rank 11 – 25: Relentless Legend.
Rank 26 – 100: Ruthless Legend.
Rank 101 – 250: Merciless Legend.

total: 42 AP

Reasons:
1) Only a limited amount of players can get them, most of them will go to people who do not even care about the AP part.
2) Even if someone tries hard the whole season, they are excluded from any titles because of the harsh MMR decay of 100 per day. If you for some reason cannot play in the last week of the season all your efforts are for nothing.
3) EU will have a harder time to earn these since NA has a lower playerbase and lower skilled players compared to EU.

Most of these people dont understand that the AP is also a competition among those in that area.

For instance i know people in the top 500 NA and do not want to fall below that and they know the people trying to pass them. I currently have a guild mate only 200 AP behind me and he is always making comments about how hes gonna catch me.

PvP like WvW and the AP points, there is a competition for a few people in those fields. People who dont get it, i dont understand why you would judge the OP when he/she has clearly invested more time into the game then you have.

Its almost like being back in H.S where all the dumb kids are making fun of the smart kid for getting good grades in this thread.

Can you explain how this mere 6AP is a problem for your competition?

If some one who has the same amount of AP as you and he somehow managed to get this 6AP, he deserves to be in front of you.

Tell that to SBI, whenever TC is rushing our ebg keep the rest of our corner turns SBI’s color.

SBI is also playing for second so of course they hit FA.
That is exactly what they are trying to discourage with the new scoring.
With the new scoring, SBI won’t gain anything by hitting FA all the time. Same with FA. The best chance is to team up against TC.

Both servers hit the leading server’s objective.
This way, the leading server’s main force has to be spread thinner, giving the weaker server better chance in the fight.

I think most power dh don’t run Smite Condition & Contemplation. That’s probably why he’s beating so many Guardians in wvw. A power dh should never lose, even if chain pulled in PF.

If his passive Stability in DH tree is off cd he can just cleanse the 9 burst stacks easily, avoid symbols and attack from range. Burn guard lacks stability & stunbreaks,ToF activation > LB#3 F1 pull, the burn guard can’t do a thing.

Doesn’t matter if power DH beats burn DH. What matters is that burn DH easily beats Druids, Revenants and condi Thieves, to name a few classes againts which power DH struggles/is unable to beat. You trade being in disadvantage vs DH for being in advantage vs several classes (and in roaming, for being slower). Is a fine deal to me.

As a mesmer main, I can tell you LB DH beats condition mesmer consistently in a 1v1. You have to make some big mistake to lose to a condition mesmer.

Mesmer and thief will never use traveler runes. And smoldering is for heavy burn builds.

There are only two known builds condition engi or burn guard

5 sec passive sounds more like guard than engi. And burn guard has much stronger 1v1 potential compared to engi. 12 sec burst is probably torch skill.

For season 6, add a 5 man team queue. Make the rewards better than solo/duo queue to help compensate for the longer wait. And to make it more attractive for players to form teams.

Keep the solo/duo queue with the following change. When a team wins, the team re-enter the solo/duo queue as a team. After 3 consecutive wins, they get put into the team queue.

Now you provide solo players the ability to meet and form teams and help feed the team queue.

Keep two different queue separate. Why should solo players be forced to put in team queue just to facilitate team queue players?

How about in order to discourage stacking, you offer more tickets for finishing 3rd, less for second and few for first.

Well, this obviously doesn’t make any sense. Players need to compete to throw games for more reward?

I think there needs to be three levels of reward:
1. Base reward from participation. This should be the major portion of the reward. You do more, you get reward more.

2. Reward for winning. Obviously there needs to be incentive to try to win the game. However, because there is a shortcut for winning by transferring to larger server. This can’t give too much reward.

3. Reward for trying ones best on the weaker side. This is a bit hard to judge but has to be put in to counter the tendency to stack server. One way to do it is give everyone a participation score. Sum up all the score for players on the same server. Divide your score by the total to get your relative participation index. This index will determine your level of reward.

We’d like to give the guardian some core buffs to encourage non-elite spec play, ideally pushing them towards a potential support role. As for Dragonhunter, we’re seeing a disproportionate amount of play across all skill levels. We’re mostly happy with their damage output, and have decided to instead shave some of their utility.

  • Piercing Light: This trait no longer causes traps to daze enemies and will instead inflict the Slow condition on enemies for 1.5 seconds on the initial ‘trigger’ of a trap.

First concept of Dragon Hunter was about Crowd Control. If you gonna remove the daze from Piercing Light, why not add only 1 daze at Test of Faith, I think its a viable option to us.. We’ll still need at least 1 fast CC to interrupt fast casting skills.

You mean like DH f1? Shield 5? Dragon Maw?

Spear of Justice is not fast to interrupt 1/4, 1/2 casting skills. Mostly will be used in the combo with ToF.
Shield is not used with longbow build.
Dragon Maw is for low tiers.

You have on-demand knockback through deflecting shot. It is only 10 sec CD.
Spear of justice is very strong because once tethered you can pull through evade and block. The enemy is basically kittened if he does not have stability or invul ready.

You can trust my words here. Those two professions are very strong in current meta game.
Necro:
WvW One of the most important meta class in zerg. Condition and power both viable
PvP Condition build is a strong meta choice. Strongest damage dealer and boon remover in teamfight.
PvE Condition build is the meta for high level fractal pugging due to its high tolerance to error. Very useful in several encounters in raid.

Ranger:
WvW One of the strongest roamer. A decent healer for zerg as well.
PvP Very strong supporter and roamer. Shine in both 1vX and skirmishes.
PvE Most popular healer for raid. Can also play condition damage builds for several encounters.

Solo roam is hard in WvW. Current equivalence to old DD ele is druid.

I’m not sure I follow you with the comparison. Are you talking about how effective they are or overall play style?

The way they can both sustain a fight while still dealing consistent damage.

Celestial avatar form also feels like ele going into water and come back with full health and 0 conditions.

Server transfers.
Having all of my friends on different servers and not being able to wvw with them.
Guilds Im in deciding to transfer, then some ppl go and some dont. It causes problems and then u have to kill ur guildies lol.
Server stacking because everyone wants to be in T1 as they think being in T1 is winning (must be a guy thing) :P
Many servers died because of server stacking causing the situation that exists now with pairing.
Wanting Anet to turn wvw into mega servers like Kurzick v Luxon and stop transfers completely so that ppl are loyal to one world and proud to fight for their world (like it was in GW1) but ppl always yell no that would be bad and would nvr happen.
Yea yea I know… Anet and the gems thing.

I am always advocating real meta server system for WvW. That is the only way to save WvW in long term.

Unfortunately DH is strong against anything not played well and as such, a dh player will face far less problems than the rest, well played anything are rare respect to dh that doesn’t need to be played well to perform.

Ele and Necro are strong only in the presence of strong teams, with players that don’t facetank dmg all day and will peel for you, there in reality your support is only the cherry on the cake..not really the reason the team is winning, what I mean is , your healing won’t keep up a bad team for certain.

Players that run in all directions, chasing targets while they’re low HP themselves..players that blindly focus a single target..that is a tank…etc etc

The thing is that you can’t judge ele and necro strength based on the worse team consumption. If you have a bad team as DH, mesmer, thief, you will also have an extremely difficult time winning.

When I solo queue, I am always happier to see teammates playing ele and necro. That means my team has a better chance to do well in teamfight. I don’t like to see mesmer and thief that much to be honest. They are strong profession but most don’t understand their strength. Very few knows how to utilize thief’s strong mobility and burst, mesmer’s portal and moa. If they play mesmer and thief just as a normal team fighter, the game usually gets very difficult to play.

So i just like to give a update,

I did a full wing 1 today VG/GOR?SAB and the comps went as.

VG= 2 necros, 2 mesmers, 2 ps warriors, 1 DH, 1 druid, 1 vanilla ranger, 1 ele

For gors we made some switches, Mostly same group 2 left

Gors= 1 dh, 1 rev, 2 ps warriors, 2 druids, 3 eles, 1 vanilla ranger

Sab= 1 dh, 1 rev, 2 ps warriors, 2 druids, 3 eles, 1 vanilla ranger

Not an Engi in sight…..I cry and die inside.

Yeah ive had a issue with the patch that made raids this way. This screen shot is of a group before the patch.

Obviously groups are gonna want to use the the comp that has the best chance for success but my goodness. Anet has made raids as dull as PvP. I mean they are literally taking away any form of skill away from the game and making it all build/comps and rotations.

Edit- I will add this because ive had many people say comments about raids being too hard for people like me. Ive complained about a Raid reward track in PvP and ive had people tell me to L2Raid if i want raid rewards. I just will leave that there so there ic clear evidence that i killed the bosses.

Wholly crap, is that 2 engi’s I see!!!??? WOW, now that’s one for the books. If only those days would come back. /sigh

You can still do that nowadays.
Engi was not optimal before patch, is not optimal after patch. Nothing has changed.
