Hope they remove icd on torment > burn trait. At least for pve.
I wish she was at least looking at it. It could be that if you move out of the radius of either end of the portal it will disappear and if you stay in it then it may stay for longer. Or maybe there is the option to cancel the portal and thus start the cooldown (assuming it doesn’t start until portal is gone and you DO have access to a cancel skill. Too little info on her part.

Based on that image, Scourge’s portal will last for 20 seconds as opposed to our 10 seconds, will give allies that use it a HUGE barrier of around 1,300, as well as convert boons on any enemies that are near it when its placed, as well as it actually dealing damage.
This is kitten. This isn’t sharing portal with another class, this is flat out giving portal 2.0 to another class and not giving mesmer anything in return for it. I mean hell, our own portal isn’t even updated to match this. Not to mention a 28 kittening second CD on this, instead of the 72 seconds on portal for mesmers.
It would be fine if other classes were given portal. Its kitten that they are given something that is way better than portal is. Especially for a PvP environment this is kitten.
What the skill actually does is it’s a ground targeted teleport with a short range that creates a portal between the two points that you and your allies can move through to gain barrier and reposition. It’s also 28s with the trait..it’s 35s without.
You can’t cast and wait a minute before dropping it somewhere useful. You can’t move huge distances with it. Presumably you can’t skip certain terrain with it since it’s a teleport/shadow step. It also has a 0.75s cast time so can be interrupted.
It won’t be anywhere near as versitile or strong as portal. Simmer down.
I hope it’s not limited to shadowstep/teleport rules as that’s one of the main and only advantages of portals. Still it does feel very much overburdened with goodies for what it is, boon corruption, barrier for allies, escape for allies or a jump in to attack/burst down then leave.
I will definitely wait to see how it plays out but it could stand to lose the boon corruption and/or damage and stay a very useful utility skill bringing an alternative to portal and map control.
Still I’m really excited to see a portal like mechanic on another class, necro no less which has needed some support for a while now.
Watching peachys video the range is small and it vanishes if you move to far away from the portals location. It won’t really be a huge alternative.
It can also be seen that’s it’s ground targeted. Pretty much every ground targeted teleport in the game requires a valid path so I don’t see why it won’t have the same limitation.
It’s closer to lightning flash/infaltraitors strike / judges intervention type skills than anything else.
Peachy’s video didn’t seem to demonstrate it very well. She cut off the ranged skill fact while recording and she casted the teleport at her feet rather than in the distance. No helpful info on her video at all regarding the teleport skill.
It won’t have the same distance and it is ground targetted. If it has say 1200 range and you cast it, the scourge will teleport the distance harming enemies in the radius. I think allies will be able to follow via a portal left behind which will give them barrier. There is a return portal as well.
All in all, these portals are limited to what you can see. You will not be able to use it for example, to get a group of allies past walls and into stonemist or a wvw tower. You will not be able to use it to help people through jumping puzzles or even for the long distance ports in spvp (because the scourge would require the range and clear line of sight of the entrance and exit portals).
The spec as a whole looks pretty interesting and because of how it looks to be designed it will be hard to speculate how to use it without actually having our hands on it. Need more information at least. There is a play weekend this month right?

I’m very pessimistic about this change, not going to hide it. For the Necro there’s a lot of issues with HoT and the failure of the Reaper to bring power to the class. Now it looks like they’ve just said who cares condi overload. I’m not disappointed I deleted my Berserker Necro and the news of nerfs coming to Reapers to make way for the new elite is very troubling. It’s still my best class to play, but the power creep of expansions is testing my patience when NPC’s are rarely nerfed or balanced with profession changes. I’d like to finish up getting the masteries from HoT but at this point it doesn’t look to be happening any time soon.
Also there is news that condi is going to take a huge hit in the damage output department. Q3 balance post pretty much sums up the headaches moving forward to expansion release.
Reaper condi is going to be removed and power on reaper and other lines are going to be equally buffed to compensate. Scourge will be taking on pure condition as well as support but little to do with power.
I am personally fine with it. I have encountered many games (especially dnd) that associate undead with dark areas as well as barren areas like a desert since they are almost devoid of life.
Quite good then. Even with no vitality gear you can reach nearly 10k.
Seems interesting. Little sad about there being a max, but I usually run high vitality at least in wvw. I hope the base maximum is a little generous.
I think the scourge portal will be a ground targetted placement. This will give it the same limits as a shadowstep but with the added benefit of reuse (possibly). This will mean that it can’t get people into any places that the mesmer portal can, and it certainly won’t have the same range.

Regular updates would be nice. Since we don’t even have that, nothing here will happen anyways.
They already said they won’t tie wvw updates to expansions and are going to release those features separate. I do like how they nearly cut the price in half though.
The number of deadeyes on tower walls will be… Astonishing.

How does the portal for scourge work? Any info on it?
also the barrier deteriorates by its own almost immediately so it’s really bad.
1 barrier is like entering 10% shroud and expecting to be protected from damage lol… why couldn’t the just give us aegis or blocks, or invulns???
We’ll see, if the barriers turn out to be weak then anet will definetly buff it to op levels just like they did with dragonhunters f3 (it was originally supposed to block projectiles and nothing else though enough people complained and it got buffed). And where did u get the info about barriers deteriorating on their own?
You could see them deteriorating rather quickly in WP’s demo stream.
I would be fine with movement. I value that far beyond blocks and invuln.
And here I just let necros writhe around for a little bit before I walk up and stab them. :/

That should be fine. As for the runes, I tend to go for grenth to abuse chill/bleed more. My heal I usually use the shout heal for the low cd/lf gain/chill burst from runes. The gear stats can work though I personally strive for about 30% crit chance base to get out more bleeds. One last thing, you may want to drop hydro sigil on one of your weapons (likely the warhorn) in favour of sigil of ice. It procs even more chills and one of the only on hit sigils that don’t require a critical hit.
Regarding dhuumfire: creating a trait that punishes people and those around them for successfully evading is a little counter intuitive.
I run full burst damage on the rifle and run exp/tool/scrap (though you can drop scrapper for alch or firearms). The rifle has amazing single target control that can be used to keep enemies in place while dealing a couple high burst hits. The job this engi has in our group is to create attacking opportunities.
The main tool is the magnet pull. When well practiced, you can easily pull any target in a zerg or small group without fail (exceptions of random occurances). Immediately after the pull is when you land the burst. If you’re running with a small group, this is a death sentence for the target. We rarely find use for hammer scrappers.
That is like a necro asking for an instant cast Flesh Wurm.

For both of them, you can effortlessly kill them by just juking a pressed attack. When you land a big hit at any time, they will need to pop something to defend. You can just whittle their skills down one by one. Your mobility is your greatest asset and is one thing alone that can win any fight.

Just do all t4 fractal dailies. I have a whole bank tab of ascended chests that I have no use for because fotm has already given me all the gear I need.
Recently? Fractals use to drop alot of ascended armor in the past, up to about a year ago, but since the last fractal patch i’m lucky to get one ascended drop in 3-4 weeks now.
I average 1 chest per day. My guildie I have been taking with me has half my loot level and is pulling chests even two at a time. I have pulled 3 chests in a single day from fotm before. They drop like cheap candy. To play probability, you play more.
Makes easy bags.

DBL is great. If you do not like it fine, do not go there. I have had some of the most epic fights ever on the DBL. I for one am glad they made it.
I’m glad you like it, honestly I really do. But no one can deny it wasn’t a clusterkitten. While there were many aspects to the events that followed, DBL was one of the main reasons why many WvWers left after the HoT release. I mean they did end up removing it and bringing back the much more loved Alpine Borderlands.
And if someone says “well they brought back DBL on a vote”, that vote stated that if people said no to it, Anet would stop any major future updates to WvW. So it was very much a hands tied situation.
I agree with you 100%. I just need to correct that last statement. They didn’t say they would cease future updates to wvw. They just said they would scrap the new map and it would never be used again if it got voted out completely. Alas, people settled to have only one instance of it.

Guild members only is a kittenty option though. None is around 24/7 and turning it back public when everyone goes off can be forgotten or means the trolls/spies can do it again.
Then offer a suggestion that is better that is fair for everyone.
The only fair prevention method you can have really is already in place. Locking tactics for guild use only. It has its drawbacks, but there is nothing you can really do about alt accounts aside from catching the individuals doing it.
Nearly everything you can do to buff the little guy, buffs the zerg more. Golden rule of wvw.
The boss fractals and the urban are really the only ones I can agree on. As far as the dolphin path goes, there is a clear path that lets you avoid all krait in between the clusters, and the distraction takes care of those. Rarely fail dolphin run solo.

As mentioned. The design and implementation of these wvw masteries was done a while before pve masteries. Just no point in wasting effort to change it. Also, it requires different “currency” to earn.
