Im glad they brought it back, nothing is wrong with it, it is still a very low chance and gives new players a piece of history without spending 1000’s of gold.
Or it’ll cause people to ignore the event. At least with the way it’s currently, I can generally get the 1200 bag.
If they had to do the events to get rewards why would they ignore them?
Make Each 300 (100 will be free pass) a Phase, 300, 600, 900, 1200
Each Phase you will need to Rescue X citizens and Complete X events (10 citizens 5 events just an example), if you reach this quota you get the group effort reward.
When the next phase comes again you must repeat. Fail events should count for X events needed.
This will encourage players to help with both events, rescue and stop some of the Zerg’ing, but most of all help stop with AFKing.
Oh, guess what? We get twelve of these threads every week, buddy. L2P, because people like you are ruining this class. We’re already at the bottom of the balance rungs with eles (who are getting buffed majorly on March 18, while we get nerfed more due to QQ like this), and this doesn’t help the case of balance. I bet you play a warrior, or even worse, a ranger. See signature for details. Come back when you reroll and start beating thieves.

We dont know what is done the pipe line yet, no one said that sigils are getting nerf in Cooldowns, heck they might all have 5sec CD’s or 10sec, I cont see 30-60sec cool downs thats just unreal.
Condition meta will basically be the same IMO, a few % lost in pve wont change anything, they said pvp crit damage will remain the same so dont worry about that, and as for wvw, its 10% less crit damage, not ever all damage so your caval and valky gear will still be useful for what it is made for (wvw thief BS roaming wont change, just will take 1 extra dagger hit to kill you opponent than before).
I Know this isnt profesion balancing but I felt this was the best place to talk about this…. We dont know what anet has planed in the next few weeks/months, but maybe the crit nerf isnt just to balance the dps, it could be to balance what is Coming up in the future, Think about this.
Runes and Sigil are getting changed/buffed and becoming more useful 2 sigils for 2h weapons and better use of sigils.
Lets look at this. if I miss anything or got my facts wrong PLEASE correct me and not troll me).
Sigils:
1) More Useful and better ones
2) 2 sigils for 2h weapons
3) No sigil cooldown sharing (Fire and Electric and Proc together)
4) Some are getting a boost
5) In live stream said 100% chance to Proc (not a chance on a chance)
Idea!, sigils boost may give a slight boost in DPS, have extra damage from more sigils and able to Proc more of them more often and with runes being reworked it may just had added to much damage, with the idea of Crit Damage being a stats number insteal of % based gicing more options to just not Armors but Sigils and Runes also.
Example: Sigil of Blood and Fire, on 1 weapon set.
Blood Procs stealing 500HP (if you can steal 500hp that is) Does 500damage and you heal 500hp. Every 2sec Fire AoE burst Every 5sec You are now getting both of these to Always proc and proc together instead of sharing 1 CD.
There are many more deadlier Sigil combos and someone will figure out the best 4 sigil combo.
Im basically saying with Runes/Sigils changes and updates and the possibility of more combos we may not even see that much of a difference in dps than most of us think.

Circular reasoning. There’s a lot of stuff overlooked by the developers, and Fractals and dungeons certainly are one of them.

The subtlety and word choice are pure genius.
If Tree’s goal was to irritate me then he is doing a fine job. The developers are not gods that can see everything from a players perspective, and the majority of players do not like dredge fractal at all. Tree disrespects everyone’s thoughts on dredge while at the same time posting some “L2P” talk to everyone that doesn’t agree with his view on dredge.
The developers have more information than we the players. We only speculate whereas the developers are able to make informed decisions about what content is put into this game. We have no idea how their engine works let alone how their development process works. The dredge fractal has been tested and approved for release (this is evident since we are able to consume that content).
I’m not posting “L2P” talk. I simply say, if you find the content challenging, then educate yourself on the encounters, think about how your class can make the encounter easier, transpose that into a group setting, then refine your ideas, then finally test your hypothesis.

My answer to that is, find a few other people who are willing to learn and experiment. I don’t see why you would want easier content. The sense of accomplishment after doing the above steps is reward enough when you know YOU overcame the hardship where so many others failed.“It’s still too hard…”

The problems isnt “L2p” at all… We know the pulls, skills, fights and best ways to deal with it.
The Problem is the amount of unlimited respawns, and the fact that some of there attacks CANT be blocked or reflected at all making that mechanic pointless.
Spending a stupid long time to kill a Clown Car isnt fun or challenging at all… you just stack at the front and auto attack….
Staying on the Foot Pedals is fine IF you could block ALL the attacks, but some of them will hit 2-3 times and can not be stopped but evade skill and Invul skills, and you should have to swtich classes in a dungeon to beat one part.

Players been asking for this sense the start of fractals, if they didnt do anything in the fractal patch, that just tells you they dont see any thing wrong with it.

Remove the Bombs/Turret rooms completely and I would be happy with dredge level.
With max AR, you won’t feel it. Like it was stated above, it’s preferable to do lv50 now as you don’t have any instabilities that affect your DPS.
You feel it in the healing, thats is what I was saying, that -50% to healing can really hurt at time, specially with lower hp pools.
Since it’s 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40. That sounds like it is working as intended for 41-50.
Never said it wasmt, but the new allowing us to do 50’s is cool and all, just wish rewards was like they used to 1-9, 10-19 etc… It even matches the AR needed.
Lv’s 50 count as level 49, this shouldnt be like that, if you want to endure the pain of agony every 10 sec, then more power to you, I think I’ll keep doing my 49’s.
FYI, Lv 49 and Lv 50 Fotm Counts together as one daily reward.
If you do a 49, you will not get daily chest for lv 50.

In the never ending quest to improve our design and find ways to please as many people as possible we’re always digging into constructive criticism. We have not perfected the recipe for an open world boss event, probably because we’re pioneering new territory here.
As far as I can tell there are a couple challenges we are trying to overcome. First, we are trying to teach the community a new skill: self organization. And I’m happy to see that in the aggregate, they ARE learning. I’m sure as this process continues we will find better ways to accommodate the communication structures that will emerge.
Secondly, from both a technical and player-experience perspective, it’s best to break up zergs as much as possible. Thematically keeping everyone feeling like they are contributing to a common cause from multiple locations, and still feel heroic is an interesting challenge to balance. Always looking for new ideas on this issue!
These 2 things I am very happy to hear, IMO the Marionette did that amazingly and was more help to the community than both Teq and Tri Wurms together.
Players felt they where getting better and learning at Marionette, it was easy to see if your winning or losing, If your doing the right thing or not.
Having 5 lines with 5 different tasks was a great idea, commanders were able to help the players out better. They wernt to hard, but needed to have some experience at the same time.
IMO the Marionette style was great and if you add more to the game, I feel you will see Players help to understand to organize themselves much faster and better than Teq/Wurm.
Why do I think that? B.c its not EXTREMELY HARD, its the right amount of difficultly, that fact we have LOTS of overflows in many servers of players trying and trying again and again. Ive seeing meany same faces over and over again, all very excited about this event.
Giving us something to have organization with difficulty BUT not SO hard that it discourages players to not even want to do them and try to get better.

Add to that, that you can’t see kitten with effects, lag and a hundred or so mobs/players running all over, and what do you get? Angry. That’s it, and that’s all. That’s not fun.
That is my experience as well in a nutshell. It doesn’t seem like the GW2 engine was designed for this sort of content. You can’t see what is going on, and it doesn’t seem to cope well with everything that is going on.
Performance matters when you design boss fights.
We cant have more than 25 stacks of bleeds on a boss b.c of Anets “bandwidth” problems… The whole game has performance problems.

Yes the Puzzles and Challenges are very good, But still any person can join and mess them up. We have Pugs randomly come in and mess things up time to time, Pulling Curtains, pressing buttons when not ready.. etc…
Again I would love there to be Instances for this type of stuff.

Or maybe the devs have a rule that when they play the must find where Cynz is playing and be sure to play nearby. Very interesting…
But many times on Live Stream they did say they Mainly play warrior, and you never see any but 1 play a thief on Live Streams, and that 1 guy played it terribly ( like a new player would play a thief, a cool fun looking bad style that doesnt work… aka, p/p venom share with the non optimal traits for p/p).

Keeps Fury on you, Stacks Vul for more damage, only steal when you need Fury. Caltrops for more healing if need to, Signet for condi clear + prec, Shadow step for Condi clear and OH! CRAP! Escape. S/P for Evade and AoE damage. SoM for best in slot PvE heal with S/P and Caltrops. 3 Extra Initi for those Long boss fights, plus steal give Might/Fury/Speed.
Can trade Caltrops out for Smoke Screen, or something else.
I’ve done dungeons with doing 22k PW’s (full bloodlust, Might stack ans Vul stacks with Banner of Disc, you should be at Crit chance Cap) but average in CoE is 16-17k. Im in full ascended, it does make Difference, of about 1.5k per PW in CoE, Its not much, ut I notice the numbers.
signet of malice active heal kind of sucks, Unless you run might on signet its not even viable to begin with because you wont hit on every strike (especialy because PW is stationary and people arent total idiots as to stand into it at all time). Withdrawal heals better on active and provide an escape while actualy behing an instant cast wich isnt the case of the signet
It realy depends on how much damage you expect to take and how much you expect to hit your targets.
In PvE SoM is BiS, Mobs do stand still, Mobs have slow attacks, you can group 5 mobs together, Caltrops + PW + SoM = you will never die in PvE.
No need for Toughness/Vit in PvE.
Pvp and WvW different stories.

Liadri was a skilled fight for skillful players.
Teq is for Skilled commanders and for leaders to be known for accomplishing things.
There are alot of players asking for harder content, but honestly most players dont want to do events they know have a VERY HIGH failure rate.
I personally would LOVE 10man Dungeon style content with Bosses like those in the Arena with some Gambit
having a Boss like Liadri in it. Something that you need to plan and think about, but at the same time, you need REAL skill.
That would be a dream come true.

Why? Its the type of challenge that is rewarding and if you beat it a few times, collect the other Power Core thingys you can get LOADS of Rares and some exotics.
I dont Need Shiny to have a fun boss event, but I do feel we should Get alittle more reward, but the FUN REWARD of it is grand.

It’s a neat encounter, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not the model I’d like to see world events follow. It’s neat defending your portal, then fighting on the platforms with the marionette in the background attacking, but I think that would get really old if they did it for every fight. And yeah, you can zerg the temple events pretty easily, but Grenth actually does require some coordination to not mess it up.
Oh, It can be a completely different type of set up, but Im talking about the Scaling and the amount of thought that is needed to beat it.
It is harder than temples, takes more support/planning but isnt over the top, it is able to be WON without using Teamspeak and is more Pug friendly, thats what I like to see more of.
Must agree that the marionette is nice and well done except for the RNG placement of people on the platforms.

It doesn’t fit as PUG content. Let me choose what people I can go with to kill it and I’d be fine with it.
Same with Teq, if we can “Chose” who to play with that type of content, then it would be fine…. But terrible for pugs.

Suggestion, Lose the Wurm Keep the Marionette.
The Marionette is MUCH more fun, rewarding, easier to team/help/guide players into doing the correct things.
Wurm is just a not Fun type of hard, there are things that are Fun b.c of the challenge, but then there is over the top.
Add more Content Like the Marionetter XD PLEASE it is the Best World Raid Anet has done yet!!!!

IMO its the most worth while for Guardian, specially wvw and fractals (I do 49/50 fractals on full zerk guardian and Warrior, and I can tell you this, just having 10k more HP makes a HUGE difference in 12 hit kill and 3-3 hit killed, the Toughness doesnt scale well enough so Knights didnt work for me, I was still being 1-2 hit killed and I notice I do better/the same in zerk gear).

What did you expect? You’re running enough Cleric’s gear to start your own religion, and you have very modest damage as a result. You have a lot of Armor and green numbers, but were doing squat for DPS once your party members went down.
Ironically, your Thief might have had better luck here, since the mobs of enemies at Grenth make things like active evasion, blinds, and Signet of Malice a hell of a lot more useful than Aegis. Although this was a nice fight for Symbol of Faith, at least.
Im just sticking up for anyone that thinks thief isnt OP, I know conditions arnt the best, but a Dire condition thief with SoM, Caltrops and Dagger storm can live FOR EVER.
A good s/p SoM thief can too.
Well let me shed some light here, there is a little miscommunication in my post I guess.
The incident I was in was not at the same time as the guy talking about the large group.
My incident was I jumped in a fight when a guardian was fighting a thief, I hit him with F1 and dazed him, I then hit him with a full skill set, each hit counting for from 2k to 3k + each hit. Now I hit the thief with at least 12k+ of damage, the guardian was also hitting him at the same time. Now I cant say what he was hitting him for, but hey if he is getting at least 1.5k a hit we should have killed him with no problems at all. after all I had him dazed for at least three secs while I laid the hammer to him, everything we hit him with took around 25% of his life, even though he was dazed that’s all we took.
Now he gets his bearings back and kills both of us while we are still pounding on him, and Keep in mind I am hitting with a hammer for at least 2.8k a hit. I am just not understanding how this can be, and there is no one thing you can say on here that will make me believe that a build can do that. I have one of each of these characters and me and my friends have spent countless hours researching each one and I tell ya, things I see in this game makes no since what so ever. I mean really a thief that can use the elite venom skill freeze you and hit you one time and take 25k to 28k in one hit come guys. If you can show me a build that will do that I will be in pressed completely.
My thief power build one hit back stab, highest hit little over 9k, that being said, minimum of three hits to kill and it has to be three or more perfect back stab hits..
Who can do that.I see thieves running around all the time, one hitting like it was nothing, now I understand single out one guy stay on him till he is dead, but while you are doing this there are one to five others guys there and your going evade everything everyone throws your way, that is not realistic.

Wow, just wow, where to start:
1) Thief most likely had you blinded for a few attacks
2) Most likely broke stun and/or evaded and healed up
3) Might have been 2 thieves (alot of player will have 2 same looking characters and trade off stealth to make it look like one, thisis very fun btw)
3) You wasnt hitting for what you are claiming to hit for
4) Did the other guy actually hit? or was he blinded (thief can blind alot)
5) Even when Immob, SB 3, d/d 3 and s/p 3 can all give a 1-2 sec evade, he could have been evading most the attacks
6) He did not 1 hit kill you, If a thief ever 1 hit kills, Post a Screen shot, I wana see your screen shot.
Maybe it’s not worth opening a topic for this matter but I need to get my opinion out after playing mostly every class now and at last finding thief as my fav professsion (just like the way he plays plus he has no CDs and you really need to manage your ini).

First of all. Warriors should be the highest dps class, and playing the most risky game of all professions" because they are a Tank; alongside with Guardians.
Even Arena.net confirmed that in the latest stream.
Thieves are “not forced to be dps class” but because of Arena.net playing Favoritism and implementing an Elitist mechanics to the thief class, thieves are given the single highest dps damage with 8-24k per hits.
Because thieves can hit that high “hit like a Tank”, they play a Tank class role; not being “forced to” but are designed to be Tanks.
Once again, It’s Common Sense; if any class can hit 8-24k damage, obviously they can Tank.
Warriors do not have stealth or Perma-stealth, Warriors do not have near Perma-teleports and most importantly, Thieves are meant to have high evasions with high critics but 8k- 24k is Unacceptable
Why shouldnt a Thief do 8-24k crits when warriors do 20-100k crits? I can show you a warrior build against a thief that will 1 hit kill a ZERK thief every time, and with that the Zerk thief would not be able to 1hit kill the Zerk warrior in 1 hit ever.
I can show you videos of Players in Zerk warriors doing 88k DPS with 100b (in dungeons), Highest Ive seen from a thief PW for 24k, with 100b able to do it ever 8 sec, a thief would have to do PW 4x to out dps the warrior’s 100b (Remember the warrior is doing auto attacks, Whirling attacks and Eviscerate during that time) PW being 2-2.5 sec long thats not possible.
What about the Ele’s Rush FGS trick, why is no one talking about that?
People keep saying thief can do high OP dps, but in reality if you play warrior, guardian, mesmer or Ele like you do with a thief (High dps, be very patient and hit and run tactics) you too can get players off guard and dps them down in seconds.
Thanks for posting, No matter what, players will always feel that the “rogue, Theif, Assassin” style class is to OP, but in reality, they are Far from it.

Thief style classes are play differently, and that type of difference is what makes players hate them.
They are a Hit and run, Evade style class, any DPS build they do should hit hard and fast, thats the point of thief.
There are MANY counters to thief, Players just dont wana take time to learn them.
Also please note that Venoms only Tigger if they actually hit, so if they are Blocked, or you are Blinded they do not go off and it is “used” up.
steal when traited can be cooldown reduced to 17 second max. If they reduce it further well start seeing thief using Mug as a mean to heal in battle for full life. I already heal myself from mug so by the 6 dont make it worse.
Its 19 3/4 recharge and thats only if you spend 30points into it. I was saying give us a base Cooldown less but keeping the over all traited into it close to it is now, that way it will open up more options for thief.
What I dont get is that Stal starts at 45sec, but warriors f1 and other classes f skills are less of a cooldown, even guardian and Recharge them all with the elite skill.
I would Love to see Steal be a base 30sec Recharge before Traits, getting it to a 15sec with Max traits into it.
This would give the “Thief” a truly thief’y feel to it.
I mean.. a Warrior can use f1 skill ever 7-10sec doing LOADS of damage or LOTS of CC, but thief… yeah a couple ok ish skills and some Ok ish boons that other classes can spam.
Faux the reason should be simple even to you. Its to provide a low cost fee interupt to sword/pistol build and allow better management of the initiative. In pvp this is gunna be epic, In pve it will likely help lvling up your thief and fighting trash mob more effectively (pve mobs auto attack are predictible and as such a well placed stun make them unable to score their hit, then you only need to use the flurry at the right time to block the next blow, I noticed a while ago that because flurry and the stun are poorly timed togueter there is a opening time between the two wich leaves you vulnerable to interupt, stuns, and what not. Separating the hits and making the stun a faster animation could actualy be a good idea)

Why cant all builds be useful?
If you want High Risk High rewards, LET us with Zerk.
If we want to get Sustain DPS, let us with Conditions.
If we want to Support the team, Let us with CC.
Taking away Crit damage will only hurt EVERYONE not just Zerk.
Valkyire, Calvery, Soldiers with Crit damage Bonus’s from trinkets/runes, It will just make Support even less helpful, Conditions still dont work in group settings, and Will just make the game MORE boring b.c content will take even longer than before.
Nerfing damage isnt the answer. Fixing the CC, Conditions, NPC’s AI, Make the game so Players have to use there utilities, use combo fields (most players dont even know what these are for and how to use them) BOOST combo fields too, make them more useful and desirable.
That will shift the Meta in more ways than one.
I dont want another meta where every player is Fully built the same. Right now its zerk, but soon it could be Soldiers (I can see this happening with World bosses and Events, the gear will be ready to go for WvW too).
LFG “GLFM all Soldiers Ascended gear, Ping gear, 9k Achievement points”
OK but I will watch the Live stream, YES Im jumping to conclusions that it might be a good things, but so far, there hasnt been an update in a Year and 1/2 that “fixed the meta”.

For Dungeons, I only use S/P, able to hit 5 foes at once, in level 80 dungeons I do 13K + per pistol whip EASY, and up to 15k+.
With the evade+stun and SoM Your almost unstoppable.
That plus AoE Blind there is no reason to use d/d in Group fights over s/p
IMO the thieves that give us a bad name are Venom Share thieves in Dungeons and fractals.

You forgot some important Issues
A fast list of things he forgot and they DO matter alot, Im not going to discus them or go into big detail, just list some things OP missed.
1) Condition builds in group play and against Objects
2) CC/support against bosses (there almost isnt any)
3) Some parts of the Game (high level fractals, some dungeon paths etc..) things hit so hard so fast, its BETTER to be full DPS than tank.
4) Heals and Conditions cant Crit and also they have no stat synergy to make them more desirable like Zerk does (The combo of Power/Prec/Crit damage all helps each other and multiplies), Toughness and Heal power do have some synergy, but no multipliers.
5) Longer fights doesnt make them more fun.Conditions can’t crit because conditions bypass defense, so that’s not really reasonable.
Condition damage would be fine and good DPS…..if it was individual stacks. On a Warrior you can maintain permanent 25 stacks of bleed, which with 2400 con damage (reasonable in PVE) is a fairly significant source of DPS.
The problem is that the other members of the group probably don’t have as efficient or powerful conditions, and eat up your valuable stacks.
I said conditions in group play (hence warriors or of classes like thief adding conditions that do little to no damage makes the condition build user less effective) and I didnt say condtitions NEEDS to crit just stating no synergy with other stats like zerk, with that said it takes more time and effect to get up conditions for max damage out put compare to a Zerk class.
Zerk (aka physical damage) will (as of right now) always out DPS a condition build in both long term and short term fighting.
This can be seen very easily when testing (the gear really matters with conditions, Dire, Rabid and Carrion are more traditional Condition damage builds where Rampages are part physical and condition builds)
I used Dire, with 2k Condition damage on a thief, each bleed lasted for something like 17 1/2 sec, and did 142 damage a tick, Fight a giant in Curse Shore I could keep 23 stacks of bleeds on at all times ( once it hit that 1st 20+ stacks that is) so 23×142=3266 a damage a tick.
You may think “WOW thats alot” but the amount of effort in trynig to keep it at 23 stacks was harder than my Pistol Whip build, that not only killed the giant faster and easier, but was able to do an average of 13.5k per Pistol whip (2.5sec) for an average of 5400 damage compare to the 3550 damage form Bleeds and Poison.
SO the whole “condition ignore armor” doesnt really matter when the damage out put compare to zerk is slower and lower, having them crit would bring that damage up to zerk level.
Im sure someone can make a better condition build to do more damage, Say on a necro (burn, bleeds, torment and poison) But not all classes can do that easily.

Im very happy to have read this, very happy.
But also Very Concern, very concern.
The 2nd quote basically says some of the worst parts about conditions and why we cant have reliable dps condition builds in group play. The conditions can only stack so much, when you have multiply players all classes and players mostly can reach/keep the bleeds, burn, poison on mobs at all times with out being a condition build, so when that player (the condition build player) is attacking most of that players dps isnt even being counted.

This is let us to think we will almost need condition builds for some fights, which will lead to more players running condition builds, then that leads to much lower dps, making fights longer and harder.
The entire condition system almost needs a overhaul. I know we dont know all the details, It is just some thoughts when I 1st read these posts.
I would love to discus this some more, feel free to comment, add and even troll if that is what you like

Just the fact that they give things like Birthdays and everyone knows that the 1st character or 2 you make your not sure what you like. Then you reroll or go home. Kinda of a catch 22.
If you remove the personal story then nothing is holding it back.
