Instant 80: Guardian or Revenant?

You dont need to be level 80 for PVP. you can bring a level 2 and everything is automatically balanced to be exactly the same as a decked out level 80.

Save your 80-boost for something you want to play PvE with, and for that, I recommend power Revenant

What the kitten am I supposed to do with a bunch of kitten gear, kitten trinkets, all with kitten stats? This isnt a “gift”, this is trash. Why cant I just salvage this crap?

While I understand the kick in the teeth vibe after dunking tonnes of gold etc into Goldsink Halls 2 then seemingly ages after the damage they make changes to lower the pain I will agree it is a dog move an they should’ve been working on these improvements VERY soon after HoT launched, I can’t help but feel you are dishing out the term “free” too vaguely, in fact… Wrongly.

I don’t find it surprising like any modern gaming business model to incorporate said “goodies” every once in a while into the game FOR players to KEEP players in their game, and to keep them happy. We are not being given things for “free”, it is more along the lines of… I purchased HoT and only now are they delivering things VERY late. Correct me if I am wrong but only players who purchased HoT are eligible for the 80 boost?…

…either way, we paid for it. They are still late on delivering content but for now, I am for one, at least grateful they have delivered SOMETHING after being in the dark for quite the time.

Furthermore, I will never understand people who “complain” about being given “free” things. As if something undermines their “achievements” or gains from.. How long ago? Let people play how they wish to play and enjoy the game.

Nothing in the Level 80 Boost is things you wasted gold. stop kittening.

Really sort of angry about this item. I already have every toon at level 80, so it was useless to me for that purpose. So hey, I get neat loot instead. Cool! Except Im stuck with 17 pieces of soulbound Soldiers exotics, none of which I can use on anyone (and cant anyway because its SOULBOUND to a character that has full ascended). I cant salvage them. I cant reforge them in the Mystic Toilet. What the kitten is the point? This is a great “gift”. A bag full of trash. I cant even vendor them for a few paltry silver. I cant do ANYTHING with this set of gear. kitten make them salvagable, at least!

Well they managed to kill this thread using their typical means. It’s sad that we won’t even get the dignity of a response after almost 3000 posts. This thread was more active than the whole game and yet nothing.

Which response would you like them to dignify you with? Choose from:

1. There will be no u-turn or refunds and we will be pressing ahead with our other priorities.

Make your selection by typing 1, 1 or 1 and then pressing enter.

they could, gee, i dunno, actually offer some player support by addressing concerns that “indefinitely means never” or whatever else has come up that people are worried about, or just BE a sympathetic face that is here to show the company gives a kitten. no, they make an announcement and then ditch the whole ship, showing they care not one kitten about the player base or its feelings on the matter. thats basically the worst PR you can offer, is to drop a bomb and leave, no questions answers, no concerns addressed, no nothing. kitten that.

I have yet to see anyone with the New Axe or Pistol. Only seen about 10 if lucky Staffs. Sooooo is everyone waiting or no one actually able to make them that quickly or easily due to grind and cost?

Then youre just not paying attention. I see them everywhere, and people are pleased as punch to have something different than Frostfang to work with. Literally every single person I speak to or play with on a regular basis has at least 2 legendaries, so clearly as far as endgame content goes, its a big deal. its not “oh well nobody has legendaries anyway”. EVERYONE has a legendary. its a big beautiful Fashion Wars 2 thing to work towards when you hit 80. removing that, especially when it was sold in HoT as a feature, is an kitten thing to do. wheres your outrage over being lied to? when will you care that youve paid money for something and not gotten it? does it have to be something YOU like for you to care? if so, thats a pretty childish and selfish worldview. so consider if youre just selfish and apathetic, or if there really is a problem going on here.

You want a conspiracy? Try creating a male human toon, then remove all the facial hair. Most of the faces look feminine or at least androgynous. Why is that? My tin foil hat is tingling.

There are no androgynous looking male human faces. theyre all plain, coarse, and ugly. theres some small variations, very limited, but for the most part theyre all coarse 40something men with wide faces and ugly features. the one with a black eye is the closest to “androgynous” you can get, and even hes fugly

Felahr.9830

No one actually cares about legendaries, people want the rare cool skins. HoT failed on that in a couple ways, both the legendary collection thing as well as just not having a lot of skins in general.

The next expansion needs to have a lot of skins earned via drops or simple achievements (like you beat a dungeon, you earn tokens for it), not convoluted legendary collections.

the 60+ page thread about legendaries not being worked on begs to differ. literally everyone i know begs to differ. people care enormously about legendaries

Since the question is specifically about opinions, here’s mine. I don’t really care. Legendaries (of which I have crafted one) comprise an amusing side game that means little to me. I tend to focus on ascended gear instead. In fairness, part of this is the fact that the appearance, in general, of legendary weapons in GW2 doesn’t much appeal to me.

When HoT was released, the mention of legendary weapons didn’t get much of a rise out of me to begin with. Not sure how prevalent among the broad player base my view is.

As for the next expansion in general, I am far more interested in the new maps.

you dont have to care about a thing to realize that people do, and that a thing was promised and not delivered. i dont give two kittens about SAB but im really happy that anet finally delivered on something that SO many people wanted

Tired of Costumes

Felahr.9830

Yeah, I will NEVER pay money for an outfit, no matter how nice it looks, but I would have bought numerous outfits if I could just mix and match the pieces I wanted from it. They really need to take the time to re-rig their armor systems so that they all use the same skeleton.

this is impossible. its impossible to design 1 coded mannequin that will factor in every species, body type, height, and possible combination of crazy things like leafy sylvari racial gear, or flaming balthazar backpiece, etc etc. the work required to make 6 new pieces, and then check them against every combination of armor in the game, across all body types, is outrageous. thats probably billions of combinations that have to be individually checked from all angles, on every species and body type and height, in a 360 plus up and down, to eliminate irregularities for it to be suitable for release.

and youre gonna whine about outfits?

Great idea [/sarcasm]

participation isnt low. its that people tag and then afk and dont actually help the ones doing the event.

i think its a simple solution that theyve already implimented in maguuma. if you dont remain in an event for X amount of time, you “time out” and dont get credit for that event at all. i see it during tarir and it seems to work.

Felahr.9830

Okay…

Lets go back a few steps first. I have been in this game since Aug 25th 2012, everyday, love it. Seen many things, crafted many things, made tons of money and lost tons of money, farmed this, farmed that and pay attention to the TP best I can.

Firstly, I never understood why T5 Mats, such as Large Bone, Large Claw, Potent Blood, etc etc etc… tanked in price post-HoT and it took me almost 6 months to find out the reason why on that.

Now…. I have been collecting Freshwater Pearls and Maguuma Lillies while doing my Flax farm everyday and if there is one thing… ONE thing I hate, is when the price is one number this time yesterday and suddenly jumps 50% in price today.

Last night, Lillies were selling for 7g a piece. Tonight, they are selling for 11g a piece, and usually when something like this happens, it means someone apparently knows something I do not so…. Can… anyone help me out here?

I try to stay up to par when it comes to the trading post. but I am finding myself falling 50 steps behind when something changes. Makes me feel dumb…

it means somebody was rich and lazy and bought all the 7-10g ones

cmon its not rocket science, nor is it a conspiracy. people buy stuff. markets fluctuate. it happens. its normal and healthy.

How important is gold/crafting in this game?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Felahr.9830

Felahr.9830

I second all of this. I also want to point out that you can spend an hour a day and earn 50-75 gold (craft and sell all 4 ascended mats, and run all 3 tier daily fractals), and then enjoy the rest of your time doing whatever you like, like LS or maguuma content or working on achievements. If you decide you want gold, its easy to acquire.

One caveat on this: the gold amount made assumes you have the necessary materials already and don’t have to buy them from the auction house. Last I checked, you won’t make money if you have to purchase mats for ascended materials on any except MAYBE deldrimor steel.

daily fractals are awesome.

You do, even if you have to buy the mats. I dont even buy very many mats, and I never farm. I get a ton of mithril and silk from salvaging things, and I pick up various other woods and leathers and cloths as I go, not to mention ectos. I come out probably 5g profit per item, every day, and I never farm the mats. I just use what I get in ordinary play

When I say farming, I should have said “procuring them any way other than buying from the TP”. Apologies.

I was mathing it out at one point, and right after HoT dropped you could make a good amount this way, however once you’ve burned through what you have and have to start buying all the mats from the TP to keep going, the cost benefit analysis made this a zero sum game (as of about a month or two ago, that may have changed since then).

Yeah if youre logging in and doing nothing but crafting 4 things and leaving again. I do Tequatl every morning, salvage the trash I get, BOOM silk, leathers, ectos. Do a mission or two, or some SW, or whatever you fancy, and silk and leathers fall from the sky. Hit up every tree and node within a few feet of your running path, BOOM woods and ores. You dont have to “farm” to get mats. You get things from doing literally every thing in the game.

At this point I’m convinced you’d believe it if they shovelled kitten in your mouth and told you it was sugar.

What they decide as a business decision to represent the most amount of work done with the least amount of effort is not a direct, qualitative measure of GAME IMPACT.

I’m not sure what convinces you of that. It’s not a stretch of the imagination that they cancel development of specific content because it’s just not justified based on what players get for the amount of resources put to it. In fact, that’s probably the best reason to cancel content.

If this decision was oh-so-beneficial for the players why is it not met with thunderous applause?

Btw. Don’t try and weasel your way out of the fact this is not the original argument ^^.

Oh, that’s an easy one … because people think subjectively and selfishly. They don’t actually care what’s good for the game; they care what’s good for themselves.

multiple people have already stated how legendaries help the game. they help the economy and they help aesthetics. they are a massive gold and resource sink for ascended mats, t-2-6 cloth/wood/ore/leather, karma, dungeon token, and probably a thousand other misc items im forgetting like cores and omnomberries. they are a goal to work towards for the people who “have everything” and give new and old players quests to do. they are a huge factor in fashion-warsing, which is a significant gemstore seller, both for black lion skins to match the legendaries, and outfits and armors and now gliders. they are endgame content, and they are not a tiny thing, they are a big godkitten deal. even if you dont like legendaries and never plan to have one, there is no way you can claim with any truth that they are insignificant to the game as a whole.

70 people need to be pulled from the xpac (which nobody wants) and tasked to fixing the kittening game that everyone has already purchased.

Well, to be fair I would like more elite specs. Don’t see why an expansion is needed for those though since game content can be sold via the gem store….

But anet hasnt announced that a second elite spec is “coming soon!” they havent said anything about it, much less promised it would release with X, and that 18 new elite specs are slated to come, 2 per class, only to release 1 for revenant and announce the project was on hold “indefinitely”, which is exactly what theyve done here.
