The only thing anet admitted to is that this shard is too long, not that it is badly designed.

Perhaps not the design itself, but there’s something about the design that can potentially make it too long.

Rangers are barely tolerable for fractals. Even if you fixed the dodge on sword it would still be bad because it follows/stick to stuff like glue and thus can’t allow max melee ranging anything which is pretty pitiful at high level fotms.

They could bring greatsword, and then be 2x less useful.

I’d say the issue is more related to the profession than it is to the dungeons.

Reworking the AI actually would fix most of the issues plaguing PvE. That is what I was referring to.

I HAVE played through dungeons and I HAVE used the current meta tactics. I just stopped doing it because it bores the hell out of me.

None of the changes to AI would ever fix the issues you have in mind. You can achieve almost identical efficiency while gimping yourself with proper team compositions.

Programming AI to actively avoid damage would go a long way.

Easier said than done.

Many people are going to hate me but I can’t wait until they design all movement-attack skills like FGS rush or whirlwind attack to hit foes only once per use.

I am tired of banging mobs against the walls. I want real fights.

Then we will see all those “meta” ele and warriors fail so hard not knowing what to do

That won’t change anything except the speed of kills. Ele will still have top dps. The general gameplay won’t change. People will still pull bosses into walls so the bosses won’t keep walking backwards.

It’d be a start though. Ideally speaking I’d like to have AI improved to prevent corner/wall stacking from being so universally effective.

Fortunately, what you think to be ideal plays no part in deciding balance changes.

Well, I guess not everyone can handle a game that would actually be challenging.

I guess that in the end that’s the only argument you people have left.
If I want a challenge, I solo Arah, do higher level Fractals, run dungeons naked or PvP.
What some people need to get through their skulls is that to some people, myself included, enjoy efficiency and the feeling of a job well-done.
The changes you are proposing won’t add any sort of challenge at all. They’ll just lengthen the runs by a little bit, especially for non-zerkers.

If ANET wants to make their game more challenging, they’ll need to make more significant changes and not only tweak some cheesy skills that people will do without.
When/If those changes occur, I’ll simply adapt to them and carry on instead of complaining here, creating endless threads about the same subject, much like mediocre players do.

FenrirSlakt.3692

Interestingly enough, the crafted materials are available on the TP for purchase so you technically are not time gated in acquiring the mats needed to make your ascended gear other than, of course, the vision crystal mats which are account bound.

None of the vision crystal mats are time gated. You can grind them to your heart’s content.

As you cant buy the account bound mats on the tp and you have to invest time to farm them, they are technically timegated.

Leveling is time-gated, so is acquiring ranks in PvP, and so are dungeons, because you have to invest time to do any of them.
Work and education are also time-gated and so are eating and drinking.

Posting in the forums is also time-gated because I have to invest some time to think on what to say and some more typing it in. Also, I have to wait 30s before posting again.

Pls remove time-gating ANET.

It vanishes:
1 – by changing map
2 – by joining wvw
3 – by using Plague (Necro)
4 – by using Guild Banner Potion
5 – by using Quaggan Potions

3-5 makes Sense that this things can’t have a halo, but after changing back it should be there aggain.
1-2 doesn’t make any sense…

Please make it permanent(not affected by things like 1-5) and let it last for 24h (deactivation by clicking aggain), then its worth the gold and time.

Numbers 1 and 2 are the same thing; a map change.

Buffs are lost upon map change, therefore it does makes sense that it occurs.

You can’t farm leather from nodes either. The discrepancy is that the recipes are equal, it’s the market prices that are not. Apparently, clothies are more popular classes and therefor the demand for tailoring supplies is higher, thus driving prices up. If the recipes were equalized based on today’s market pricing, in time the market will shift and the costs will be uneven. It’s just a shame that the costs are so vastly different.

Please don’t type something unless you know wtf you are talking about.

Elonian Cord: 50 cured thick leather square = 100 hardened Sections

Silk Weaving Thread: 100 bolts of silk = 200 silk scraps

yep no imbalance there….

In fact, it is 150 Thick Leather Sections for the Elonian Cord and 300 Silk Scraps for the Silk Weaving Thread. The ratio is the same, though.

Oh, the irony.

This!

With the irony being that they didn’t do camera control lock because it would make the game too action-y…

They really need to make up their mind about how action-focused they want the game to be.

It’s the price you pay for convenience. I think these items are great for someone who can afford to share these buffs with friends who can’t afford to stock up on individual items themselves. In the long run, the mat requirements are well balanced.

I usually agree with you, but those are not even that convenient. Someone earlier demonstrated that for that item to be worth its price in gold, around 160~ people would need to use it, and afaik, a map can hold up to 150 people.
If those calculation are right, then the item needs its price toned down, but also needs to have a more limited number of uses.

Of course that I won’t complain if someone in my guild decides to drop one next to the trays. <:

I prefer to think that they’re trying to get people’s belongings back to the rightful owners, and that the rewards are incentive for us to collect and bring them in. It might be nice if we’d do this for free out of the goodness of our hearts, but risking life and limb for mere things is a bit of a tall order, given the warzone you have to go into to retrieve them.

If it eases your conscience, imagine your hero saying, “Just trying to help,” while the Lionguard says, “NO, PLEASE, WE INSIST. HERE, TAKE THESE…LEMONS IN BULK? YOU DESERVE THEM.”

I like this interpretation. I wish it was made explicit that the people you turn in tokens to are actively attempting to return them and not just melting them down to give you stuff… someone please point me to the dialogue if it’s already in-game!

The Flame and Frost event was nice because you’d actually find specific tokens to return to specific people. I thought it might be something similar this time around. I’m not sure what the reward would be (maybe something similar to aiding in one of the escort missions) but it would give me a more personal connection to the refugees. -shrug-

Look at it from their perspective. Scarlet’s army is comprised of Asura, Charr, Dredge, Humans, Krait, and Sylvari. Now Dredge and Krait are impossible to confuse for any of the citizens or defenders of Lion’s Arch, but the other four mentioned races can easily be confused for Scarlet’s forces. Seeing as portions of four of the various races comprising the pact have joined Scarlet, the Tengu probably has assumed a few Norn have joined as well.

Scarlet DOES have Norn in her army.
See Horrik and the Aetherblade Thumpers.

It seems like a ridiculous mechanism: turning from us during a time of crisis is enough on its own to merit retribution, but actively killing those who approach their gates? I’ll be disappointed if we don’t counterattack when we’re able — I believe this constitutes an act of war.

Dear lord, if this isn’t a joke, I hope that you’re not a politician/aim to become one.

Stealth is supposed to also muffle noise, otherwise it wouldn’t work on dredge.

Muffled not entirely erase it, as some have pointed out the Tengu appear to be firing blind. They may have trained themselves to have an heightened sense of hearing, or have devise some technological device that detects even the faintest sounds. Also something to consider, this could be a simple game mechanic to keep overly curious players from lingering in the area expecting the Tengu to respond since there seems to be few civilians in the area that need aid.

It’s unlikely that a bird species would have better hearing than one that trades vision for hearing. In fact, birds are supposed to have a superior sense of vision.
I don’t know about their technological advances, but they don’t look like the techy-type to me.

That aside, those Tengu shooting arrows are just there to add flavour to the game, so that people don’t complain about them not doing anything.

As for looking before they shoot, how would they identify which is us which is Scarlet’s minions?

Is that really your current health? Could just be that people are tired of rezzing the zerker geared people that should not be wearing that type of armor?

I always try to rez, but if a person goes down for like 5 times I will stop rezzing that one right away.

And every time same comments. Like only people in zerk gear die… Don’t make me laugh, dude. In these events, having soldier armor won’t make a difference.
Some people with non zerker gear tend to sound like they are so proud of themselves and are feeling superior because they can stay alive for what…? three seconds longer?

And also, why shouldn’t they wear that type of armor?

I wear full zerk for PvE on every character and still die very little unless I decide it’s a good time to stupidly launch myself into the fray.

lol k so OP wants a small group to retake an entire city. Thank god he isn’t a game developer.

Just like a small group conquers the dead city of Arah and Zhaitan?

Lorewise the pact sent ships before the player reached the dungeon, afaik. That’s why you see other ships fighting dragon champions while you’re taking care of your own dragon trio.

Successfully duo’d many events with my gf over the course of several attacks. You don’t have to go with the zerg if it ain’t your thing. This event is actually pretty solo/small group friendly.
Furthermore, to reach the highest reward tier (1500 survivors) I strongly suspect that zergs will have to break into relatively small groups(10 or so people?) in order to cover the map and complete everything.

No you are crazy, its 100% zerg like always… the fact that zerging gets you to only 500 survivors is just your imagination. Also the loot is terrible, I didnt get a precursor in the hour I played today.

If your definition of “good loot” is getting a precursor you must live in a world of constant disappointment and I’m sorry for you.

I was part of an overflow earlier that managed 2K citizens and even though my friends and I weren’t in a zerg for most of it I got nearly three times the amount of loot as the one I spent entirely in a zerg that only got 400 citizens.

I think his post was a satire.

I say, why not add crafting stations to the southern camp, so that people HAVE to walk to get there? That way people will still buy the Captain’s Pass to avoid that inconvenience.

I normally support ANET’s posture, but there’s no reason that there aren’t crafting stations in Vigil Keep. Aren’t they supposed to be a self-sufficient organization with the means to produce their own weapons, armor and such?
So, why not add crafting stations far away from the TP/Bank?

At least I can see this viewpoint. It’d be nice to have crafting stations along with the rest, yes. What I don’t understand is why, if you’re already WPing to a new location to access the rest, you can’t WP to one of the many other locations in the game where you can craft and still access other services? All five major cities, Ebonhawke, WvW, etc. Is there some attachment to the keep that I’m just not picking up on? It seems like the airship wouldn’t help with that even if it were free, since it’s not in Vigil Keep.

I’m not exactly complaining, as I’ve been doing almost everything I need in Rata Sum. However, some people, perhaps a majority have slower computers, so they might not be able and willing to wait for loadscreens to finish.

Also, everyone’s talking as if the problem was irreversible. All ANET has to do to fix this is to place the crafting stations somewhere in the map and that’s that. Otherwise, people will think that they deliberately avoided to add them, and I wouldn’t blame them for that, especially because this is one of the easiest issues to fix I’ve seen.

Besides, I meant something like this.

I was apprehensive about this release, since I love Lion’s Arch… have from the original Guild Wars. So I log in to see the depressing cinematic of the destruction of my beloved city. Then I appear in Lion’s Arch where I had logged out… being attacked and dying to poison. I am dead in less than a minute after logging in. No story… nothing just I appear in the middle of killing madness. What kind of storytelling is that?

I have had it with these updates, you are systematically destroying all the things I have loved about this game. Good work Arenanet…. time for a long break from the game.

A very disappointed….

Stacking & Ignoring Enemies in Dungeons?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: FenrirSlakt.3692

FenrirSlakt.3692

I have noticed a trend on these threads. It is often the clueless players who create them, as it appears that they’re unable to see the difference between a game mechanic (LoS, enemies using a set of abilities while ranged and another when melee) and exploits (Terrain trespassing, breaking the AI).
Once you manage to prove them wrong, they either keep defending their posture or argue about how players are not playing for fun anymore, while also throwing jabs at the devs and the “Elitists”.
It might come off as surprising and astonishing, but out there exist people with different tastes from yours; some people value efficiency more than anything and find enjoyment in doing something better than last time. I count myself among these.

Rather than trying to force others to play how you want by pleading the devs to remove something, you should find like-minded people to play with you. A few minutes ago I posted a LFG with the description: “No Stacking/Skipping”, and it took less than 5 minutes to fill, so why not exercise two things called Patience and Self-sufficiency and make a group of your own, rather than expect others (Devs, in this case) to hand it to you on a silver platter?

inb4 post deleted. Sorry ANET.

Edit: Keep in mind, if you are a non-stacker/non-skipper who creates their own groups and gets things done by yourself, NONE of this is directed to you and I sincerely apologise in advance if I offended you or someone you know. I deeply respect anyone who works for something they want, rather than asking others to get it for them.

would you like it if you made a guild hall and all of a sudden you see tons of ppl walking in your hall who are not even a member?
i seriously doubt it.

The Vigil is an order whose main purpose is to help the helpless, so it makes sense that it will be a temporary hub until things settle down.

true but the keep isn’t exactly easy to reach, if what is said is true then even more questions arise.
like, where do all the portals come from (from main cities to the keep), how can they set things up so fast, why is my bank still accessible when everything is destroyed in LA, how do they fit all that in a small keep (because let’s be frank, the keep is maybe just 1/8 of LA) and so forth….
i’m not trying to derail anything, i just try to make sense of something i see no sense in.
divinity’s reach is far superior to a new hub and already exist, not to mention what you already have available just as what LA has and is beginner/low level friendly.

Assuming that Scarlet shuts down all the portals before the invasion, Divinity’s Reach is much harder to reach than Vigil Keep.
Reaching the Vigil would mean traveling north to Gendarran fields and then northeast, where as DR is two maps away.

Keep in mind that this is an exodus, so regardless of which path they take, it is assumed that many will die before reaching their destination.

About the space, the Vigil Keep is larger than we get to see, though many parts are non-explorable.

divinity’s reach is far superior to a new hub and already exist, not to mention what you already have available just as what LA has and is beginner/low level friendly.

Fort Trinity = new hub

the vigil is suppose to be a guild for vigil members, making that a main hub completely ruins that part of the lore.
would you like it if you made a guild hall and all of a sudden you see tons of ppl walking in your hall who are not even a member?
i seriously doubt it.

The Vigil is an order whose main purpose is to help the helpless, so it makes sense that it will be a temporary hub until things settle down.

Fort Trinity is supposed to be a stronghold against the Undead, not a city or a place where anyone can roam freely.
Zhaitan may have been slain, but Orr is still far from safe for a normal citizen.

Comprehensive list of Fractal bugs (repost)

Idk if it’s a bug, but it happened a few times where I had nothing in the end daily chest, no rings or anything, just 1g + empyreal fragments (lvl 30+). Considering it takes 1-2 hours to complete it, fractals aren’t rewarding enough, especially with the ninja nerf on the fractal skins.

Not a bug, just bad luck.

It has happened to me several times at lvl 49 and 50.

Overflow bugged

Overflow are bugged, they dont move you to a main “zone” , they move you to less populated zones now (new overflows) ….

You mean when after you get the prompt to travel, you get directed to another OF? If so, that’s because the main map got full, then the first OF got full as well, so another OF was created to accommodate other players.
This cycle can continue indefinitely.
