The idea was intended to help eliminate unfair judgment based on Elitism, Favoritism and Trolling.

I would only be against favoritism and plain griefing, but I wouldn’t call elitism unfair. If someone puts an advertisement looking for experienced players with zerk/scholar gear and meta builds, then no one who doesn’t fill the requirements should join.

I appreciate your story but this seems more like a rant than a real question to me.

Lots of people can’t read so it doesn’t matter what you put in your lfg.

^This.

Basically, they didn’t read, and if they did and joined anyway, they’re just leechers.

Back then I would not ask for a gear check or kick people, but due to illiterate players and leechers I’ve realised that I can’t hope for a group of my liking if I don’t enforce a few rules. At least not through the LFG system.

Sad reality is that if you’re too nice, they’ll just walk all over you. Play how you want players breed “elitism”.

Not really a fan of this idea, just pointing out:

So 2 trolls become immortal?

Two trolls are already OP, but currently just on the kicker-side, rather than the kickee side.

This would just balance the field.

Your definition of balance is flawed. In reality, what this would do is just give ‘trolls’ double the power the already have, as they would be able to screw parties by kicking and by denying kicks.

The most efficient solution that could be made without adding new bugs to the party system would be making it so that a vote kick requires three people to kick somebody from a 5man and 4man group, and two people to kick someone from a 3man group.

Additionally they could make it so that the instance host is not kick-able, as no one in their right mind would kick the owner.

This is my greatest problem with players in this game. Just a very few people are able to think of efficient builds or strategies themselves. It’s also one part of “why I hate stacking”.
I actually don’t hate stacking at all. I hate people stacking for the sake of stacking, even in situations where you get all negative aspects, but no positive ones of it.
And even worse are AC pugs, stacking in the most supid corners available. Especially for kholer, I feel deep hate growing whenever pugs run straight north to stack in that godkitten kittenties corner of all. Let’s make sure all our cameras bug out and that mobs spawn invulnerable or out of range.

Stacking… stacking… stacking.

Stacking does work against Kholer, though.

Exactly.
We need more – and ideally only somewhat optional! – ways to remove gold from the game. In the very ideal case, they also hit the rich somewhat harder than the poor.

The TP hits the rich way harder than the poor due to that tax.

I see people using the words bad design, poorly designed AI and flawed mechanics so much that it makes me believe that most of them have no idea what constitutes a good or bad AI/Mechanic.

What is a good AI?

Suppose you put a group of skilled human players in control of a group of enemies. What strategy and tactics would they use? If an AI can somewhat replicate that, I would call that good AI.

Would human players run to stack in one spot like idiots when they can’t LOS the target? What if instead, a mob, when it saw you stacking behind LOS, forms a tactically sound position and tries to lock down and nuke the ball of players?

Human players would attack more often, dodge, use their skills more intelligently (e.g., not wasting CC skills on targets with stability or blocking), scatter from AOE, choose targets more intelligently (e.g, everyone switches targets to CC and burst down a weakened player).

Personally I think the game should be more twitchy.

I also think making the mobs more trinity-like would be useful. Suppose some mobs had strong healers, their healing and damage mitigation being so strong that you must CC and/or burst them down before you can kill the rest of the enemies. These healers would constantly kite you as well.

If you try to target the healers, the rest of the enemies will switch focus to you and slam you with CC, debuffs, and nukes.

That would be a more interesting type of fight.

Considering that you (and I) know nothing or very little of this game’s engine, everything you said is just wishful thinking. Very few people actually know what technical limitations keep ANET from designing more dynamic AIs.
It is a known fact that the more complex something becomes, the more prone it comes to break or in this case, glitch.

Also, tech limitations aside, let’s talk about the limitations of the average player. Let’s suppose that ANET managed to create more intelligent AI and bosses with more challenging mechanics that can actually put players in uncomfortable positions without glitches or bugs.. How long do you think it will take before these forums explode with complaints from mediocre/lazy/unskilled players? Most of the “Elitists” would once again adapt and steamroll through content as they do today, and considering that content would actually require far better mechanical/cognitive skills, they would be granted an actual legit reason to kick casuals from their runs.
In short, you’d have the exact same situation we have these days, except that more people would whine about it, and mind you, we have a ton of whiners already.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m all in for a challenge, but I don’t think it should be proposed by people who haven’t ran anything that’s not CoF/AC/CM.
Most of the people that complain here are simply clueless.

You would be surprised just how much the challenge in this game has diminished because of the stacking phenomenon. Just yesterday I went to COE with a pug group and they were all completely wiped by alpha about 3 times in a row because Alpha was moving more than usual and left the corner a lot (I survived all three times after seeing the group die extremely quickly and running away), until at one point I said: Let me kill it. They agreed, and Alpha was dead in about 3 minutes.

Thing is, most people want to make believe that stacking is a sound strategy, when in reality it may not be so. I know some things are best to stack to, but if it weakens your individual skills and abilities to adapt to random situations, then whats the point?

So, basically stacking is the most optimal strat when people know how to do so properly.

It’s easy to say do this or do that, but so far most of the ideas I’ve read from these people are biased against the berserker meta, which makes it evident that (consciously or not) rather than wanting to improve the game, their goal is to make pure damage builds completely un-viable/impractical. All these factor makes it hard for me to take them seriously, and I’m positive that this opinion is not solely mine.

Players are not flawed…

Stopped reading here; laughter made it too hard to continue typing.

Now, seriously, most of the players’ ideology is so terribly flawed whether they realise it or not.
Take the constant complaint threads in the BLTP section as an example. Most of the threads there suggest ideas so clueless that they would destroy gold’s purchasing power to the point of having to do as Merchant NPCs recommend and learn to barter.

I take it that some people make suggestions with the best of their intentions (though most of them are motivated by laziness or spite), but isn’t the road to hell precisely paved by those? When it comes to game design it isn’t the intent that matters.

There are numerous guides in youtube and other sites. It takes less than 30 seconds to watch a video and and perhaps a few more minutes to learn it depending on how good/poor the individual’s cognitive abilities are. Afterwards, assuming that the tactic has been fully understood, success is subject to mechanical skill.

In short, now that the most optimal strats have been discovered, any person should be able to get this done in less than 10 minutes.

Now, before the whole class balance argument is yet brought up again, here’s a video of a naked Norn with NO SKILLS/BOONS doing the achievement with no problems whatsoever

I expect Elementalists to provide some might stacking (and fury through Persisting Flames) with Arcane Brilliance and Wave over fire fields.

And as an ele, I refuse. Fire Fields can actively hurt anyone using projectile finishers during the reflect phase. I do not like placing them then. And when I do, I’ve seen people dodging out of my fire fields or otherwise avoiding them. I personally can’t blame them. Part of being a decent player is avoiding doing stupid things that directly hurts allies.

The extra damage people would get from Might (and Fury) greatly outweighs the damage they would have to endure from Burning.
An even more important part of being a good player is being able to ??ses a situation and pick the best option available.

Why are metals all grey? Simply because that’s the colour most metals ARE. Honestly I thought the glow effect once you add the cores, etc. was going to be a bit better than what it is, but I’ve seen that the coloured blades look better in some maps than others thanks to many factors including map lighting, post processing, etc.

Then the Holographic wings, the shattered holo wings and the Sunless wings aren’t wings either, because we can’t use them as such.

May Power, the Father grant you His Might to rain death in the form of large numbers on top of your enemies.
May Precision, the Son, with His Fury guide your blades into the flimsiest of their armor.
May Critical Damage, the Holy Spirit, imbue you to magnify the virtues of both, the Father and the Son, so that your blows may fall heavy on your foes taking on the shape of more hard-hitting crits.

I do this with my guild. To tell you the truth 90% of all dungeons go faster if you do them the right way. So yeah… to the lazy, no skill, exploiters…. learn to play the game plz and have some fun.

What color is the sky in your world? It must be pretty, because the drugs you are in are mighty nice.

Please show us a video of you doing a “legit” no skip/no stack dungeon run faster than a stacking/skipping run. It doesn’t even make sense from a logical point of view that you can kill 10 times the enemies and not stack to gain group buffs easier and still do the dungeon faster. The only time skipping is slower is places like dredge fractal where people don’t know how to skip, but stuff like that is few and far between.

Also, fun is relative. You enjoy doing dungeons by killing everything and getting no additional rewards, while the rest of us enjoy getting our 7389394th CoE P1 run done quickly and getting the same thing.

It just sounds like you have never ran with good players. The group I run with isn’t full zerker either. I play with the same 7 – 10 people everyday, who understand the mechanics of the game well enough to melt bosses without having to stack. From experience, about 50% of the paths in arah people skip, it’s faster just to melt through them than spend 20 mins trying to wall jump around things and wait on others. I’m not saying we kill every trash mob, but we do fight every boss as intended and it doesn’t take any longer than people in their speed runs. We have almost got it to the point where we can kill lupi within a min or 2. Maybe I will start posting videos on the forums, just for naysayers like you.

I would highly recommend the Devs consider the lesson we learned from the 90’s Pokemon anime. Lots of continuous flashing lights on the screen is not good on the eyes. In the Scarlet battle, having to deal with tons of AOE and various flying unicorns are one thing, but the roaming holograms that act like walking strobe lights was a bit overboard. Not sure if this was a graphical glitch or a bug, but I do know that other people in my Team Speak were complaining about the same thing, so I know it’s not just me.

I know the Devs can’t undo this, but please consider it for future content. The effects make sense for what they represent, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that the combinations of flashing lights is painful.

A person prone to seizures confirmed that he had no problems to play this content, but due to the inherent randomness human anatomy encompasses, your point stands regardless.

I’ve been here for a while now; I’ve seen more than enough to make my case.

referring to created topics (thus instigators), and anyone who has been here a while knows the answer to that

There have been plenty of instances where the ‘instigators’ in question were those coming up with snarky, often insulting responses to people that may just have simple questions that they’d like answered.

Casual runners who post in a peaceful manner get a good treatment (eg, PASSS thread and that one other thread looking for likeminded runners).

Casual runners who post threads about complaining, whining, forcing play styles, false information or claims get crap flooded on them with no pulled punches. Of course responses to these threads become snarky and insulting. They may have been simple questions but more often than not they’re people forcing an idea rather than just leaving it on the table for people to take.

Responses matter little since they’re to be expected, it’s about who fires the first shot more often.

I have to wonder the circumstances you guys have seen it succeed? Very small groups? Earlier in the event cycle?

If it’s any kind of example, I’ve been a part of 5- to 10-man teams that tackled a world boss faster than a map-full zerg. If it’s group size that’s a problem, then the events need to be tuned to right-size to the active player count. And future events should be sure that there’s never just one or two active events in place.

Since the miasma is supposed to eventually overwhelm the players and lock of the zone, I figure that the later miasma events might be rigged to be unbeatable in the time frame. Thematically apropos, but bad form to include something that can’t be beaten in a situation where players are supposed to invest time in interacting with it.

LA is always overridden by miasma 10 minutes before the hour. All the miasma events do is providing you with extra citizens to save.

Frankly, I wouldn’t blame it on the good meta players at all. Their group descriptions always express what they expect clearly and concisely. The blame here is on those players who refuse to read the advertisement and just join.
My advertisement format usually goes like this:
Zerk|Speedrun|XP|PX|Already in
In an ideal world, they would have to read the whole ad to know if I’m running the path they’re looking to run. Unfortunately, this is not an ideal world, so I often get Clerics, Soldiers and other undesired stat combos despite the fact that I explicitly stated what I was looking for.

At first I wouldn’t ask them to ping their gear, as I would trust people to do their part, but after experiencing this situation over and over, I now feel compelled to do so if I want to have quick, efficient runs.

I don’t enjoy having to tell people that they don’t meet the group’s expectations and kick them afterwards, but I must.

So yeah, my beef isn’t with casual/inexperienced players. It’s just that insta-joiners happen to be casual/inexperienced most of the time.

Im pretty sure it only happens when the crystal gets bursted down very quickly, which is why you see it on your ele since the FGS #4 will destroy it almost instantly.

This is correct. If the crystal breaks the same second it was created, it glitches whoever was trapped inside.

Unless the hyleks where affected by it somehow years ago and they did know where it’s from even if the hyleks are not the “creators” of it.

What if the miasma is from Tequatl? Hyleks are known flee from the sea because of dragons, and maybe some hyleks fleed to land because of Tequatl. Maybe tequatl poisoned some hyleks and they learned how it works that way, and maybe scarlet did get that poison…

There is a lot of “maybes” but i don’t think hyleks are the poison source.

You know Hylek are masters of poison, right? Long before Tequatl.

“The hylek are a Tyrian frogman species. They have lately spread in increasing numbers along coasts surrounding the Sea of Sorrows, such as the Tarnished Coast, the Krytan coasts, and the coasts to the west of the Shiverpeak Mountains. Although once reclusive and xenophobic, some of the hylek tribes now welcome trade with outsiders. Other tribes, especially those that produce the deadliest toxins, are still very hostile. Their hostility can be determined by their colors – blue hylek are always friendly, green are mostly friendly, orange/yellow are mostly hostile, and red are always hostile. Hylek are renowned alchemists for their mastery of poisons and antidotes”.

People for stacking and skipping don’t discredit those who are against it.

Yes they do. People fling kitten at each other from both sides; neither party is innocent in the slightest.

Not really, this is because when non-stackers enter a party of stackers, they get kicked. Non-stacking/skipping parties are so rare that it is unlikely that a stacker will end up in one, and once he’s a minority, he’ll simply leave.

However, if by discrediting you mean telling people in the forums how inefficient their methods are, then you’re kinda right, but that only occurs as a result of the endless amount of threads moaning about stacking/skipping.
