IMO, would be nice if you could pick your fractal path and have rewards scale (gold and relic increases) the more difficult path you take. I think the only hard part is getting a consensus on which paths are “hardest.”

My guess would be dredge is the worst, swamp the easiest… It’s just a matter of tuning rewards to compensate people who want to go the more difficult route to the final bosses.

At present the tiers are:

1. Aquatic Ruins, Swampland, Urban Battlegrounds, Uncategorized.
2. Uncategorized, Snowblind, Urban Battlegrounds, Molten Furnace, Cliffside.
3. Aetherblade, Volcanic, Thaumanova Reactor, Underground Facility, Cliffside.
4. (Boss fractal): Solid Ocean Fractal, Molten Boss Fractal or Captain Mai Trin Boss Fractal.

In a choose your path option, folks could decide on Swamp, Snow & Thauma and be done fairly quickly, or they could go urban, cliff and underground and get a bit more reward for it.

From a lore perspective, at this point, with all the fractals we’ve done, i’d think that Dessa may have learned enough to allow for that… Just a thought.

From a Lore perspective Dessa is much like the rest of the Fractal denizens. Destined to repeat the same experiences over and over again.
The Observatory is a fractal. :P

I could be wrong, but it appears that you’re confusing CritDamage with Critical Chance.

CriticalDamage is a stat that makes your crits hit for extra damage.
It’s boosted by the “Critical Damage” stat.

Critical Chance increases your chances of scoring a critical hit.
Boosted by Precision.

Well, I could be wrong, as I often am, but I don’t think that I am right now.

I was in a rather relaxed CoE run, and it was then when someone pointed out something funny about my Ele’s leggings; something that once seen, can’t be unseen.

Looks like they forgot to texture that part of the model, and while I am not especially fond of flashing my panties to everyone whenever I dodge, this looks like some sort of diaper to me. On the bright side, I won’t be having to bother with those annoying bio breaks, huh?

I hope Kiel meets her doom in a horrible and terrible way. And then, at the last moment, Evon charges in, catches her foes off guard, tosses the injured Kiel over a shoulder and runs to safety.

And thus begins a long running romance/contest between the two, where they keep track of who’s saved who the most times now. Each trying to one-up the other, neither ever admitting to the growing feelings between them that everyone else can so clearly see.

… I would support this. XD

But we’re not talking about how long people take to finish it, we’re talking about how artificial it feels.
It’s unenjoyable whether you have an optimal group or not.

I know everyone has their own opinion, but from level 1 to level 50 I have never seen anyone say “I sure hope we get dredge” non-sarcastically (and I run FotM on a daily basis). Every group I’ve been in hates that fractal. I even dare to say that there’s no one who would take Dredge over Cliffside, Reactor, Shaman or Aetherblade.

I am not against difficult stuff. I like difficult content and challenges and actively defend them whenever I get the chance and you can check my posts if you have your doubts about it, but dredge? That fractal is not difficult, it is just plain annoying.

Then why do I constantly see people claiming it takes anywhere from 1-2 hours to do dredge when other groups can clear it in 30-45 minutes? All of which are on high levels.

It all comes down to group composition. A group with a thief will clear it much faster than a group without. Not to mention that RNG also affects it. A group that gets turrets will finish faster than one who gets bombs.

Then there’s the clown car. This part takes much longer than it should. It is not even difficult, it’s just annoying. Being annoying is this Fractal’s issue, not its difficulty.

how you siege a location that has portals to five other major cities, an island and can summon defenders and supplies from anywhere in the world through the mists?

or are you going to turn off Spvp and WvW for two weeks?

personally not looking forward to waves of invisible enemies with aoe control effects and terrible lag/constant disconnects again, but hey at least it will rain precursors like candy for those able to do the event.

Please learn the differences between Lore and game mechanics.
Lore-wise every portal is probably going to be shut down, but it won’t cut players’ access to the mists.

They are not Risen, look at their forearms and at the green glow emanating from the front of their bodies.

No. It seems more like an error than anything else. In the game lore (at this point in time) I think the risen are not around anymore since zhiatan is dead. But If I am wrong someone more verse in gw2 lore will correct me.

The Risen are still around, but are being slowly exterminated.

You aren’t right with Primordus…but maybe not every Dragon is awake yet.

Primordus is awake, so are Jormag and Kralkatorrik. Zhaitan is dead.

The only dragons left are the Jungle Dragon, which wouldn’t make sense as LA is far from its influence and Bubbles, which is supposed to be far into the sea, as he was the one who drew Quaggan and Krait to land.

This has been bugging me for a while now… every time we deliver a crushing defeat to scarlet it seems to grant her MORE resources.

Destroy all of her molten weapon facilities… UNLIMITED molten weapons for EVERYONE!!!

Destroy her aetherblade base, and cripple their leadership… Obtains a fleet of OVER 9000 AIRSHIPS!!!!

Destroy the krait prophet and shard thing and nightmare tower giving the krait no reason to follow her and depriving her of her poison source…. even MOAR krait fight for her, and UNLIMITED access to SUPER toxin that magically evolved.

Blow up a marionette that used more steel than all 5 major races could mine in their lifetime… ATTACK PLANS COMPLETE.

Where does she get this stuff? It isn’t even in the realm of possibility, and it makes our heros effort completely meaningless. Nothing we have done mattered at all up to this point.

No one knows just how many hidden bases she has around Tyria. I mean, he lair was right under the Priory’s nose for who knows how long and it was discovered just recently.

I think that most of the decent players will agree that the problem with Dredge is more related to its length and tedium than it is to its difficulty. That clown car consumes your time like a fat kid eats cake.
Cliffside is considered difficult by some, but I do enjoy it very much due to its mechanics.

Is it me, or did they patch out the left path? Every single time I get Dredge I get the bombs?
I like Cliffside, but the first archdiviner is just… well, it’s not fun when he suddenly does a 180 degree turn and one shots you…

I got lasers last night.

Also, though the Archdiviner likes to #360NOSCOPE on you, doesn’t it feel great when you successfully evade it, proving that run after run your senses have sharpened? That, my friend, is the feeling or progress.

Eh to be fair, I find them just kind of a cute couple.

Though anet is pretty fond of the lesbian route. One more and XD they’d better throw in a gay couple just so it isn’t super obvious they’re into teh yuri.

Honestly though, it’s either just some character development or they plan to kill off one of them for drama. Either way shouldn’t be a big deal. Just ignore it and kill stuff if you don’t like it.

Gay encompasses both male/male and female/female, and there are a few male homosexual relationships in this game, too, though they’re Sylvari.

Should have made a thread called “The Dredge Fractal Ragequitters” where everyone shares about their ragequitting experience, much similar to the “Funniest Player Fails” thread.

I would like to see it up to a thousand posts, and slap it to anyone who makes that fractal ridiculously kitten.

I’d like to read other players’ experiences on FotM. It would be enriching, or at least pretty funny.

Also, ragequitting is for the weak of mind. :P

The OP created this thread in such a way that it doesn’t attempt to coerce others to play the way he wants, and in my opinion, this should be respected whether we agree or disagree with his intent.

I like things done quickly and efficiently, so I would never partake in this initiative, but by no means do I condemn it.

Bump for visibility.

While the fractal is -by no means- impossible, it is extremely tedious and annoying.

  • Every single mob ends up having permanent protection due to Disaggregators, which makes their gargantuan-sized HP pools feel even larger.
  • Their damage is comparable to that of an Elite monster.
  • Their numbers so stupidly high that it’s not even funny. While I like the loot I get from the clown car, I’d gladly renounce to it if their numbers were significantly toned down.
  • Dredge Strazars ignore LoS. They can shoot at you through the clown car. That car does block your line of sight, so you can’t fight back.
  • Their numbers are ridiculously high.
  • Their numbers
  • Numbers
  • Too many dredge
  • /wrist.

On the bright side, a lot of their damage can be reflected and absorbed, but -seriously- given the amount of negative aspects that this fractal possesses, I don’t believe that this little perk is significant enough to compensate.
It is not the difficulty that I abhor (As a matter of fact, I adore challenging content), it is how artificial it feels. It’s the most dull, depth-lacking piece of content this game has to offer; might as well make it harder by increasing every dredge’s HP to rival that of Open World Bosses and grant them the ability to instantly kill anything they touch when you release Lv51 and higher FotM levels.

Devs, we’re not asking you to nerf this fractal to the (under)ground by removing each and every strength its enemies possess, we just want it to be more tolerable or even enjoyable.

All I am seeing in this thread is “My skill is to inadequate to complete this content. please make it not as hard so I can feel better about my inadequacies…”

As a wise man once told me; “wish not for a simple life, but for strength to endure a kittene.”

I do not wish for a simpler game, rather for one whose difficulty is not reliant on something so dull as high HP pools, high damage and infinite spawns. I believe that ANET can do much better.

If you read my posts on these forums, you’ll notice that I advocate for more difficult content and defend it whenever I can; sometimes too strongly.

I swaggered on up as the second-squishiest thing in the game, picked up my golem piece and waypointed back to spawn, all while our corner was getting royally stomped

Not camped at all.

Results may vary from OF to OF. I played 3 matches tonight and every time I was in that area it was being camped by a group of 5 or more.

So bye bye, go do your cof 20 times a day and kill mobs…

I think a number of these look nice.
However,
The shield has a sparkle effect but none of the other weapons in the set seems to have this.

Bows should have shot heart arrows or something like that.
Guns shoot hearts?

Might be asking too much but these would have put them over the top for me.

Personally, I would have used a format like: “Your Queue Position: 23” or “You’re 23rd in Queue.”

The existing option is awkward.

If anything, I’d change it so that it is “You are position <number>”, but I think the current one is alright.

I’m afraid that Juclesia is correct. If you attempt to infuse a skinned Capacitor, the MF will still recognise it and give you its infused version along with its default skin. It’s even in the wiki.

I say, tell your wife to make a support ticket and see if they’re willing to help with that.

Most of the content they’ve released has been PvE oriented, so now it’s turn for PvPers to get some love, not to mention that they’ve repeatedly say that very little of the next LS will take place in the actual WvW map.

Well, none of it should, I never want to have to actually go there, my question was what PvEers are meant to be doing for the next couple of weeks now that the Marionette and the Wurm are no longer an option.

Marionette and Wurm are still being attempted almost every two hours on some servers such as BG, JQ and whatnot. If you want to specifically do that content, the Guesting system is right there. Otherwise, you can work on other goals.
If you are irrationally averted to guesting, as some forum users seem to be, I’m afraid that you’ll have to deal with it.

So now that Origins of Madness is over. . .

What’s next on the PvE side? I know WvW is getting some updates but that’s irrelevant, and both of the Origins of Madness events are complete ghost towns now, impossible to even progress with the current player populations, so they’re done, what will they be adding for us to do during the Feb 4-18 cycle?

If this kind of content turns you off, then use that newfound spare time to catch up with other things ingame or simply take a break.

You say griefing, we say war.

WvW players get poor loot and are forced into content they often don’t like just to get the very weapons they fight with. Long have we been the second class citizens of guildwars 2 and when content is added for us, its usually when something (orbs, quaggans) is taken away.

WvW keeps this game alive. The transfer fees paid by wvw guild migration are considerable and as structured-pvp is rapidly dieing out, wvw is where the pvp side of this game is headed. When Wildstar comes out, WvW will be what holds this game together, or what sinks it if a better home for us is offered. Its about time we got some kudos for the things we do to keep the pve side of the game alive.

So I say unto those venturing into the edge of the mists – come armed and come determined enough that when you fall, you get back up and you hunt out the one who felled you so that you can drive him or her from the mists and into the hands of Grenth himself.

The time to ignore us is over – you`re in our world now.

You have to be a terrible player if you go after easy targets instead of the challenging ones.

I remember that argument from WoW whenever world PvP took place.

Rule of thumb is, has been and will always be:
“If it’s red, it’s dead”.

We’ve tested this on deso, and it is 100% sure that the wurm head randomly targets a member of the group and “literally” becomes his/her pet. So the tactic that comes to mind is to bundle up, however, this is not as easy as it sounds. It targets downed people as well and there is ALWAYS that one person that refuses to get on team speak and running aimlessly.

Are you completely certain or is it only a theory that sounds promising?

Guesting to win an event? No thank you, This is lame. The events should be doable in every server not only in specialized servers. Great idea, bad design and worse implementation.

You’re building a desk, you have nails, wood and everything, but lack a hammer. You could go to the room next to the one you’re in to pick one up, but instead you say “No, thanks. I shouldn’t have to walk 10 steps to get that hammer in order to build this desk” and then end up feeling bitter because you wanted that desk.

I don’t mind if there are rewards only available through the toughest content… As long as other players can acquire the same reward through other means. Namely, the TP. Everything should be able to be bought and sold on the TP.

Almost everything can be sold on the TP these days, except for a few things such as Fractal weapons.
