So I’ve been hearing about how great these things are, and my Mesmer is almost level 80 so I’m pretty close to being able to give one a go myself. However, I’ve got a couple questions about what I should go with. First off, power vs condi, which is better/more easymode? I’m not looking for a build that requires a ton of skill, just something that’s complete cheese to go roflstomp people for a bit for when I’m bored of playing my Guard. Also, what would a decent setup even look like? I found this for a power build, is it any good?
Lastly, how easy to play/win with are these builds in actuality? Are they as overpowered as they’re made out to be?
Look, i’m just saying. If they say they’re going to release it on July 1st, they need to take into consideration the rest of the world. As I stated it’s already July 2nd in Australia. Regardless of where they are based, they could have done the work yesterday, but they put it off. When they launched an MMO they began catering to the world. Not only the Pacific coast, because it’s not just played in the Pacific coast.
They and most of the other servers are NA based. Of course they go for NA timezones. Expecting otherwise would be asinine.
Hope it will work with my Crosshair IV formula Motherboard.. that seems to work with AMD only… or am i failing in reading the details?
Your mobo will only work with AMD CPUs, you’ll need a new one. I’d make specific recommendations, but I’m not really sure how much things cost in euros/your country (I’m from the US).
Don’t forget that you need an intel supported motherboard as well. You might as well just build/buy a new computer if you are planning on switching CPUs. Which is essentially what you are doing.
He only needs a new mobo+CPU and maybe a new heatsink, not a whole new computer.
Get an i5-4670k, or at least some form of i5. If you go for a lower end one, you can probably get it+the mobo for like $220-230 US.
Windows 8. Thats your main problem right there. Too bad GW2 doesn’t run natively on linux. I have gotten it to run, but theres an interesting “fog of war” type graphical effect that makes it look wierd.
Windows 8 is fine.
OP, the CPU is what is causing you issues. Get an i5-4670k, Hyper 212 evo, and a new mobo and you’ll be good to go. Your GPU/HDD are fine.
How about no. It’s fine how it is.
In my case it’s quite the opposite. I bound the key to manually sheathe the weapon as soon as I’m done with combat. I feel stupid standing still with no enemies around, just a racoon and a bunch of butterflies and for some reason my character still has his weapon and angry face on.
I do the exact same thing.
It makes more sense to sheath your weapon when it’s not being used, in terms of realism; in general, I personally found it annoying how long it would take for a weapon to be sheathed after use.
That being said, this could be a nice option for people who’d like to keep their weapons out.
obsolete amount of gold
This sentence makes no sense.
And your idea isn’t good in the slightest. It’s been mentioned before and every time it’s discounted.
Yeah, you no longer need a party for it.
It’s hardly a difficult fight, you just need to get hard to the mechanics. Use control+click to target her then just go for it.
Well considering these gpus are integrated into the processor, if you have an intel HD 4000/5000 then you are capable enough to run GW2. The weaker end CPU’s use 3000.
Well considering that the consoles aren’t PCs and have godawful CPUs, this isn’t relevant in the slightest.
The average graphic card right now is the Intel HD 4000/5000. This is because they are included with the processor so its cheaper for laptop manufacturers to use it. They are also powerful enough to run modern games on medium settings, including Guild Wars 2.
Too bad the GPU isn’t the part causing issues here.
I’m personally against the idea. It’d be a poor way to expend resources, and the game itself doesn’t exactly lend to being played with a controller, assuming it would even run on the new consoles.
Might as well toss my name in. Thanks to the TC for being so generous, and congrats to whoever wins!
…
Dear lord dude, how about you use some paragraphs.
As for the idea, I like it. 2h axes would be a nice addition, and I’d like to see spears as terrestrial weapons as well. 1h hammers would pretty much just be maces, though.
No, it doesn’t work. Iirc, doing 100% map completion and no fighting or anything else gets you to like 68/69.
Logitech makes a decent xbox style controller available at Best Buy for less than 30$. Do a search on you Tube, there are a couple that will help you set it up with 3rd party software, like Xpadder (costs about 10$, but has a 30 day trial), Pinnacle (not sure it might be 20$), or key2joy (free). The controller plugs into USB port.
Or get a wired Xbox controller for $20-30 and have it be natively supported.
Really though, just get a comfortable keyboard and mouse. You’re hugely gimping yourselfif you choose to use a controller.

Literally a terrible idea. This would cause quite a bit of harm if implemented.
8 characters
5 80s
1 map completed, another at 52%, 35/37 on another two, like 27% for the last.
With how the wardrobe works, having the name not change actually sort of makes sense, asking though it may be.
781.5 hours over like 330 days.
No legendaries.
No precursors.
Shards are readily available for karma.
To be fair, it can take a while to build the karma required for 450-500 shards. You’re looking at ~1m.
Personally I’d guess in the 500-800mb range, but it’s impossible to say.
Daily dungeon runs and any world bosses I happen to do. Also, I’ve got a good bit of cash tied up in some speculation right now.
I’m not sure what’s with it, but it’s definitely annoying. It’s not latency, since everything else is still fine, but it is most definitely incredibly annoying. I was always curious as to whether it was just how I’ll queue up skills before others end, but I guess it may not be.
I tend to favor Asurans, but made my Warr a Human male as tall as possible. Can’t say that I regret it. I wouldn’t have gone for Norn, though, too big and fat.
Crafted jewelry for my Engineer using my Ele, then swapped out the jewels in them on because I didn’t realize that it’d soulbind them. It was only ~10g of mats, but still meh. Stupid mechanic.
When you say that you pay for 7 MB down, you do mean that your internet is ~55 mbps, correct? If so, it’s just how it goes. I have a 95 mbps down connection (~12 MB/s) and it usually patches at like 3-5 MB/s, which is good enough, but yeah, it does tend to go slow.
Indeed, in the last times I T1 zerg fought I noticed a huge boost from culling off>culling on maximum, something like 6-9 FPS to ~16-20 FPS iirc. With everything but render sampling off/on as low as possible, of course.
Anet made the loot system to mostly bypass MF (champ bags / chests are not effected by MF), so even tho at 400% MF you would think you are getting 4x the loot, but its much much less.
Isn’t this getting fixed on the 15th?
wait mf is affecting loot bags / chests after the 15th?
I don’t remember anything to that effect.
It will effect PvP chests after the 15th. No changes to world chests/bags.
I know for certain I read it…but I can’t find where… can anyone help me out with a link?
Something about MF affecting chests was mentioned in one of the Ready Up videos, the one where they talked about the PvP changes iirc. I just remember hearing that MF was going to affect opened boxes now, too, but that may be wrong. Don’t have time to watch the video to find exactly what was said atm.

I honestly don’t really believe that you’re running the game on high settings besides shaders and sampling on a 520M. Even given how CPU bound the game is, a 520M is just useless as a gaming card.
Culling is an option now, it’s Player Model Limit. You can always put it on lowest with all character nameplates on (which is what I have), so you can see where people are but you won’t necessarily see their character, which helps framerates in big zergs immensely.
I think sPvP is the best way to learn how to play your class.
Anyway, it’s very fast to be lvl 80.
This. I got my last two chars to 80 in <30h each, and PvP is a good spot to figure out what to do.
Get a 770 or 280X and OC your CPU.
Probably either

or
30 min upload is that what it take you to upload it or my window to d/l just making sure hehe
30 minutes for him to upload it. You’re looking at a solid 60-70 hours or so to download, maybe (and probably) more, especially if you’re only getting 4 gb/day or so instead of your full speed.
As it makes no sense whatsoever to have a PvP area in a largely PvE achievement, I don’t expect this to ever change. It would then be inconsistent with everything else that doesn’t make sense.
Requiring all portions of the map to be completed to have map completion makes perfect sense. If anything, HotM and dungeons should need to be charted as well.
Seriously, you are complaining that to Anet that it takes too long to download an 18GB file? How do you propose they get that data to your PC?
Even with a 3 mbps connection it’s like 18 hrs to download the game. Honestly, that’s not too awful. Really, I see the issue being that the game doesn’t always saturate your connection when patching (or at least for me personally. I get like half the speed I can).
That being said, I can’t really comment on the issue where it just stops patching because I’ve never experienced it myself.
Except with livestreams, all the videos of gameplay, etc, there’s plenty out there to give you a decent idea whether you might have an interest or not. Find someone livestreaming who does requests and ask them to check out different stuff in game.
It gives you an idea if you may have an interest. You still won’t know if you’ll like it yourself.
I don’t think any car dealership offers ‘unlimited test drive’ for their cars either. :p
That’s why I never advocated something like that. Actually, I’m rather opposed to any sort of unlimited trial.
Preordering a game for beta access would be a leap of faith. Buying a game over 1.5 years after release is only a leap of faith if the person insist on not looking.
Not really. Buying anything without trying it is somewhat a leap of faith, even if you read up on it. Were I to go buy a new car, even having read reviews on performance/handling/comfort, etc, I’m not going to go buy one without test driving it first. This is the same sort of idea; just looking isn’t the same as experiencing.
I’d rather see a one-weekend trial every month or something of the like. Also, remember that the game does go on sale. My friend got it for ~$30, which really isn’t too bad even just taking a leap of faith.
Seriously? How does this actually effect your game in any way….it’s purely cosmetic.
(Not to mention it is funny as hell….Kudos to Anet!)
It can be distracting and block your view; my Guardian’s head is the same size as it’s body, same with my engineer.
There’s no reason to accountbind Exotics. A new set+weapons+jewels is what, like 50g? That’s nothing.
So many internet hotshots in this thread, all of you who think there isn’t a JP etiquette make it seem like a PvE vs. WvW debate.
Except there isn’t.
I’m a WvWer and I never attack anyone doing the JP
Good for you.
Also if there aren’t any unwritten rules in WvW that means I can troll GvG happening in the arena right, after all red is dead. This selective hearing you guys have isn’t going to get you far if PvEers decide to interrupt your sacred GvGs.
That’s the magic of it, you can interrupt if you want. Nothing stopping you besides yourself.
I die and can’t WP because I’m too poor to pay and the nearest WP is contested.
How do you manage to have so little money?
I am making this to remind people about the OS JP etiquette.
There is none.
I believe some level of respect should be shown in the JP.
Good for you, doesn’t really matter to me.
Fighting is saved for EBG, BL, EtoM, and the GvG arena.
Were this true, you wouldn’t be able to attack people in the JP.
Let’s respect one another, for honor is important.
Not, not really. Especially in a video game.
Drop shadows and turn on culling. Reflections as well. A new GPU won’t help a ton; your best bet is to OC your CPU note and turn down the CPU-heavy settings.
Hammer would be awesome, especially if they added a skin that is basically a giant wrench. A bit cliche, but fitting.
Guardians have the lowest base HP pool, tied with Eles. It can easily go lower then that; I myself don’t even run that much vit for roaming.
