Why not add both?
This is the right answer.
Level 10 a few times, changing the race/size/class (before I got my 8th character slot). In general I don’t see much rain to denture characters and have to redo all of the work/leveling that went into them.
You should look into T2…Im not sure why someone in their right mind would transfer to a ghost town for good wvw
This. I went from SoR to FA 2 or 3 weeks ago and it’s been awesome.
No they duel to embody the phrase “might is right”, to stoke their own egos and/or show off the BIS gear they have by striking down any player who made them the littlest cross.
These are starting to be laughable and even a bit sad..
Pro-duel fanatics will never agree to this. They crave two things: To feel superior, and to have an audience see them being superior.
They will not be happy until they can duel at the Trading Post, the Bank, or wherever else people might just be trying to get things done. They love a captive audience.
Not only are you incredibly wrong but kitten , that is quite the pretentious way to say what you think.
since ppl are asking for reasons why we are so against duels, i ask what is a good reason to add duels in the PvE environment, give me one really sound reason that really says “yes, that makes perfect sense”.
To give people a way to kill time and test their skill against other people using their actual build/gear setups?
Well, I’ve gotten a level 80 exotic on an alt in the 30’s (it did startle me to have that happen). Maybe the loot tables just get weighted by level, not completely determined by it.
It was level 80 because it was exotic, exotic is always level 80, except for the craftable back pieces for some reason.
There’s plenty of sub-80 exotic stuff…
2h swords… they are pretty much the only pve meta for warrior. Yea you can run axe axe but you can also use only virtual keyboard instead of real one on your PC but why would you do that… it gets job done but it is far less efficient :/
What’s this now? Axe+Mace are most certainly part of the warrior PvE meta.
Because it ruins the game. Seems a good enough reason.
Unlike what the proponents like to cite as their main selling point, this crap wouldn’t be compartmentalized away from players that don’t want it. Even if you somehow get a switch to turn it off, you still get bullying dipkittens demanding you turn it on so they can ‘prove their superiority’. You’ll get dailies to entice you to go try it, artificially inflating ‘player support’. You’ll get achievements to do the same, adding more PvP that the PvE-only set will ineffectually decry.
I always see people claiming this workout any proof to back up the statement. Even my own experience shows it to be entirely incorrect.
So yeah, I’d like to see some proof that it would “ruin the game”
If you’re that desperate to kittensize with someone else, get yourself a private arena and take it there.
Except private arenas are massively lacking in many areas.

I was one/fewshotting people using Maul on my Ranger. You can get the damage up pretty kitten high, and it’s always exciting to see what sort of number pops up.
That being said, it’s gimmicky as hell and if you got someone who is decently tanky you’re probably going to die.
Get an i5. This game requires strong single core performance, which is something AMD lacks. 16 GB of RAM is expensive and not really worth it, drop to 8 GB and get a better GPU.
Valid point. You still see the colored text (iirc) when you confirm the salvage, though, and most of the Exotic item icons are different from the generic ones.
When you get a drop you don’t always see it as “exotic” It would be really helpful if the thin bands around each object was bigger, or better yet changed to red, or I would even be willing to accept a more orangish orange color.
You can always hover over the item with the mouse+look at the name or even look at where it says the item’s level.
While they are sort of similar colors at a quick glance, if you’re actually paying attention they’re pretty distinct.
This is a fantastic idea, and bring about loads of fun.
I heard some good things so I transferred over last night. I look forward to playing with you folks in the coming months!
With as tough as it was to make any sort of substantial AP progress in the past, any improvement to that grind is more than welcomed, in my book.
Eh. AP is sort of a representation of what you’ve done in the game. While you can grind it out, that’s not really the point. Most of it still reflects what you’ve done in the game/how long you’ve played, but with how it is now you’re getting AP for doing little/nothing, and people who put in more effort for the AP won’t have it show.
you need 3 daily tasks and if you only PVE there are only 3
There are actually 4 per category (WvW, PvP, PvE).
but getting 10 ap for 15 minutes of game play time(tops) absolutely rocks in my book.
It’s sort of nice, but it also makes me feel like I’m being rewarded for doing nothing, which I’m not a huge fan of.
While I sort of like the new structure, it feels like they’re sort of gimmies; most of them are REALLY quick/easy. Also, I sort of preferred the 1 AP/daily instead of 10 for 3; if you worked more, you got more AP, which made sense. That being said, with a little refinement I think the new system could be much, much better then what we used to have.
Just one. Leveling blows and I don’t see any reason to have multiple characters of the same class (especially since I still need a level 80 Thief…); one of each is fine, and I can just switch around my build/gear on each character if I want to do different stuff.
Also, if precursors and legendaries are supposed to be rare, then why when I log in do I see so many people toting them around. They’re ubiquitous. Something doesn’t add up.
It’s not so much that they’re rare as they are hard to obtain, which I think they most certainly are.
That being said, I’m not really a huge fan of the current acquisition methods. It’s more a massive gold grind then anything else.
Like 1230h or so.
You should do pretty decently on medium settings. That GPU is a downgrade from the 260x, though.
I have 7/8 classes at 80 and the last one (Thief) in the mid 30s (I’ll finish leveling it at some point). I generally just will randomly want to play a certain class and it’s nice to be able to do so. Leveling is definitely boring, though, and most of them don’t have very much of the map completed.
If they removed the crests from the chests then the farm would die. It’ a bit ridiculous that you can resupply crests that you spent on keys from the chests. I’ve actually been slowly gaining excess crests as I do the random events by amber.
This is pretty much what it comes down to. Fix the fact that you get crests from the chests and it’s fine.
The farm is really only good for ascended mats and obsidian shards unless you’re lucky. Out of ~300 bags, I only got 2 exotics, and totaled less than 3g on the TP. Pretty sure the exotic rate is way lower in these bags than normal exotic boxes/bags.
You’re not counting everything that can be made from the bags, though. I was pulling, (roughly, just sort of eyeballing it) on average, ~12-13g per 100 bags, and farming ~100 bags per hour. It’s pretty easy money, really, and I even salvaged everything green or below.

I think it affects my tall Asuran, but never tried making a super short Asuran, yet. Haha.
It affects my smallest possible Asurans.
Lol alienware /15char
But, everything, absolutely everything, pales in comparison to the need for a first-person camera.
I disagree. The game’s low FoV is the much bigger issue. It’s something that can cause motion sickness and even prevent people from playing the game.
- Manual FoV adjustment – 70-75 would be brilliant.
Honestly, even 70-75 wouldn’t quite cut it. That’s still far too zoomed in and can easily cause motion sickness. It should go to 100 or 110, or at the bare minimum go up to 90.
120g is a week or two of extremely casual moneymaking. It’s pretty much nothing.
Hi,
I’m a poor player in this game.. but 120 gold is nothing…
:-)Hi,
I’m a poor player in this game.. but 120 gold is nothing if you farm endlesslyFixed that for you.
Not even. I barely concentrate on making money and I can still pull in enough to buy pretty much whatever I want.
I like the system, but it’d definitely be better if it were for sub-80s only. It’s mostly a nice thing for leveling, but once you get to a certain point (eg, 80 in Exotics) you won’t be getting drops that can be used as an upgrade, which will give medium armor wearers a disadvantage and light armor wearers an advantage.
you cant ignore that the solution caused a much bigger problem, and can easily be fixed by giving the dungeon owner immunity, which is the right thing to do anyways
Yeah, no. Not at all.
It depends on what he is doing. ANet has everyone accept the rules of conduct. Unless they cross one of the rules, then ANet doesn’t have the “legal right”, as it were, to punish.
Anet has the legal right to do whatever the kitten they want. It’s their game.
120 or so right now, had over 450 but blew most of it on my legendary. I’ve also got ~twice that in investments.
So it’s 300g to get another color of tag?
My apologies if I prefer to play a game for fun instead of a math competition
It’s not paying a math competition, it’s playing what is actually effective and brings something to the table for your team. You don’t have to do any math at all, just think about what you’re doing.
And just for the record, I use LB+GS and a Cat+Drake in my Ranger. I just don’t push that on other people by not using the Ranger in dungeons/PvP.
I mean I’ve been playing the game for 2 years now, and each day more and more people are getting ascended armor. Something that I find wrong with this game is the lack of character customization, its like I payed 175 gold for some sentinel’s armor and grinded really hard for my armor style but then I look over at someone else and not only do they have the same style, but the same stats too; It doesn’t make me feel unique, or that I worked for something noteworthy or keyword unique. I’m sure a lot of the people who agree with me haven’t responded, but I think this is a great way to make your character more unique other than having said you paid gems or gold for some style you wanted from the TP or gem store. As for those of you saying I have to go play another mmo, I do play other mmos where they incorporate this, and the player base and overall success has increased dramatically more than GW2; some of which include TERA:Rising, LOTRO, WoW, DnD:Neverwinter, Vindictus, and several others. Also, even though they said no gear progression, what youre look at what you’re doing to get ascended armor as it is, if that’s not gear progression I don’t know what gear progression is.
Where does it make me look more unique if i have 101 instead 100 STR on my weapon ?
The characters in Lotro still look as crappy as ever no matter how high you have leveled your weapons. It shows that you’ve played longer in the game besides getting ap.
But nobody else sees it .. you can else also just type /age in the chat and save the image, print it and put up on your wall if that makes you feel better in any way.
But you shouldn’t have better stats just because you grinded with only one char forever. Else we could also remove the level-cap and you get stronger with each level until you can onehit every boss in the game if you just invest enough time.
But GW2 has no gear grind, and everybody can get exotic quite fast, and you can take a break for some month and when you come back you don’t have to fear you fall now behind and will never again reach other players.
Also .. we can play alts as much as we wish and don’t have to always think : nooo i better have to spent all the time grinding up just one character
Your arguments are invalid. I can point out a bunch of different ones that counter your statements a lot more than you think.
So go ahead and counter the points if you actually can.
Like 110 or 120%. I haven’t really been trying to get more of it.
For me it was the armour:
My lord, that looks way better on a heavier character. My Guard is the thinnest possible and the T3 looks really bad, but it looks amazing on your character.
As for why Asuran Warrs/Guards are popular, it’s because they’re awesome, simple as that.
Here is not FPS game so no need huge accuracy ;-)
It’s an MMO, where looking around and having awareness about what’s around you is hugely important. Look speed is especially important here due to the godawfully low FoV.
with controller you can do more actions than with simple mouse and keyboard ;-)
This is so objectively incorrect that it isn’t even funny, not to mention how poor a control stick is at controlling a camera when compared to a mouse.
MMOs and controllers don’t really work together, and it’s far from hard to use a KB+M on a couch; just get aTV tray/table.
Rank 84
2 Exotics, no rares, one ascended ring.
try putting the game in 1600×900 if that computer goes up to 1920×1080.
Don’t do this, resolution is the absolute last thing you should turn down- drop all of the other settings all the way before choosing to go to a lower res to try and get a good framerate.
I’ve got a Sharkk gaming mouse, so 4 extra buttons.
WASD for movement
1-5 for weapon skills
Z for the action button (default F)
F for dodge
F1 for heal
F2/F3 for skills 7 and 9
V/ctrl+c/ctrl+v/F4 for class skills-two of the buttons on my mouse are bound to copy and paste like this, so really the middle two skills are bound to those.
Extra mouse buttons 1/2 for skill 8/elite
What are these ‘classes’ you speak of? This game has ‘professions’.
If you’re gonna invest any real time in this game at least learn the most basic terminology.
Yup. Gonna be ‘that guy’.
They’re classes. Get over yourself.
Would the karma tax be on top of the existing gold tax? Or a replacement?
There’s no tax on a buy order, so it would just be its own thing.
Asuran Warrior.
I’d really suggest dropping the gold to get 8 character slots, it’s expensive (especially these days) but well worth it.
Hmph. It actually sounds like a moderately difficult tossup. I do like being able to burst people and just rip them apart (and I really like the GS for Mesmer), but I’m not sure if I’d really be a good enough player to pull it off. That being said, conditions would/could be more powerful, but it might not fit my playstyle as well (I’m a bit more… direct). I think I might just give both a go (in spvp, perhaps?) and see which I like more.
Thanks for the advice!
