It should be $25-30 imo. The included content (or at least what we’ve seen so far) does not warrant a higher price. $45-50 would be ridiculous, you can get an entire new game for that much money (a AAA title at launch), it even many, many games in a Steam sale.
.And 200 miliseconds is still a REALLY REALLY short time.
In the grand scheme of things, sure, but when it comes to online gaming 200 ms of latency is huge. Honestly, that’s well into the unplayable level imo.
We’re all loyal players; we all want to participate. That’s why this is based on lottery.
Imagine the case where ANet actually send invitations based on playtime, achievement point, and gem purchases. Do you EVEN want that to happen? Can you imagine what would this discussion be like?
That’s why people suggest to fix the wording to “selected from some of the luckiest fellows among all accounts”, because otherwise it’s misleading.
That’s how it’s already worded
In the same boat, slightly gutted they chose the wording “most loyal players”
Why? They drew the pool from the most loyal players/customers. They never said that they let all of the most loyal players/customers in.
No dice for me. Oh well.
It’s a ridiculously noticeable effect now since all that was done was moving the camera to a different spot, so there’s no need to get snarky with someone for wondering why a simple feature is so extremely disjointed from normal gameplay.
You get all annoying at asking a question and I’m the snarky one? k.
Anyways, it’s a kitten easy problem to solve, not something to whine about on the forums.
Uh huh, why add the shake effect then, why make it so we see those blurs? remove those blurs, they take away from the “scenery”.
What shake effect, the one that was already in the game?
I’ve been farming CoF tokens so I’ll be able to get a full set of zerk weapons and armor at 80.
But when I place my other siege on the same spot as in the vid in the OP it does not hit anything but wall.
Whats even weirder when I placed my ac at the same spot last week it did not hit the treb. It did not do so for 2.5 years, so I kinda doubt that Anet intended to do this and ignored it for 2.5 years.
Except it could easily hit the treb. By going into windowed move and making a short, wide window you could force a high FoV and do exactly what you’re seeing in the video.
Wut? I’m trying to get the issue fixed, it’s not just mine.
That’s the thing: it’s not an issue. It’s something that was known about and intended by the developers.
Weird, why does the other siege not go through walls then?
It doesn’t go through walls, it goes over walls. Big difference.
Wut? I’m trying to get the issue fixed, it’s not just mine.

All these “don’t like it don’t use it” people not even reading the OP…
The problem here is that people can exploit the camera changes, putting people who do not at a disadvantage.
It’s not “exploiting the camera”, it’s literally just using it. Anyways, Anet know that it can be used for way and they even approved of it- go watch the PoI about the camera changes if you don’t believe me.
So yeah, it’s working as intended. There’s nothing to fix.
Fermi, it can’t be 65. That was the launch default FoV, which is essentially all the way left on the slider.
No, most AAA titles (eg CoD) are 65 deg horizontal FoV by default. GW2’s default before the update was 70 deg horizontal (50 vertical, calculated for a 16:9 monitor)
Were that the forced FoV, we’d be back to having everyone and their dog complaining about motion sickness, because such an unnaturally low FoV WILL cause problems for most people.
And even if it doesn’t cause queasiness (I never had issues with it, for example), it’s incredibly annoying because you just can’t really see anything.
Aslo, Fermi – as in Enrique Fermi?
Indeed
I hope each and every one of you have to one day live while crippled … this is unacceptable.
There it is folks! The mask slips!
Unless both of them are trolls working together. In which case, bravo!
That has to be the case, no one can seriously be this hyper-sensitive
I’d like to agree, some people really can be offended by anything
I’m appalled at how insensitive you people are. OP said they had a minor panic attack over this.
Yes, a panic attack over the word ‘dumb’. That’s honestly being wayyyy too sensitive.
For most everyone else – if you set the FOV to roughly 3/4 of the slider, that gives what appears to be 90 degree FOV, which is what literally every other AAA game on the planet has as it’s default.
90? Try 65.
The fixed fov doesnt have to be terrible, just not able to let you remove all siege inside objects like towers/keeps.
The current max FoV is barely above an acceptable level. Any smaller fixednFoV that wasn’t too small would still let people see over walls.
Complaining to revert a fix that was long awaited is ridiculous. Get your own issue fixed instead of trying to ruin something good for the rest of us.
So it ok that ppl with more real life money could do this yet ppl with out money could not?
What? Everyone could always do this.
As for setting a fixed FoV on siege, how about no. It was awful playing this game with the abysmally low original FoV; going back to that after they finally implemented a fix would be asinine.
they can add new stuff to the rewards without having to worry about the old players being able to get everything all at once without having to work at it at all
The thing is, they already worked for it and earned it. They can buy the stuff because they spent the time to get the currency already. Saying that they can buy new stuff with no effort is completely asinine.
I think that this suggestion is nonsensical. Anet could easily implement new rewards using old currency, they just choose not to. All that putting a cap on currencies is going to do is disincentivise people from doing old content because they will get literally nothing from it since they bought all of the rewards and caped the currency.
again i think the problem lies more in the new players would have to work more than a reasonable time frame to get items priced for the old players currency level
So price it somewhere that it’ll take a reasonable amount of time to earn from scratch and don’t worry about the older players. They already put in the time to earn whatever currency is needed.

isn’t mouse look right button not left?
No, LMB is look and RMB will turn the character.
Hey, at least the PvErs don’t have to go into WvW for their map completion any more
Thank god for that, then. Disappointing though it would have been, I would have dropped my Guardian in favor of my Ranger if they couldn’t teleport to out of range stuff…
It’s definitely better this way. Having more precision is always better in my book.
Well then. Looks like it’s time for me to reinstall Windows on my laptop…
Guardians have what you pointed out, as well as a leap with GS. The cooldown for Retreat is shorter than an untraited Spectral Walk cooldown. JI and your sword teleport will STILL be useable; you’ll just have to be within range of your target.
So basically, to teleport anywhere you’ll have to ruin your stored by going into combat mode. Sounds like a great plan.
When I went hardcore to buy Dawn I pulled 400g in 4 days, so ~3k/month if I really tried. More typically probably 300-400g/month, I don’t try too too hard to just make gold.
It is true, and yes, you should keep all of that other stuff.
In other games if the server resets you get to go back in where you were up to before.
Really? In everything I’ve played, if everyone goes offline you lose the instance, just like how it is in GW2.
I also recommend picking up a quality gaming mouse as well. The razer lachesis I’ve got is about….I wanna say 5 years old? Aside from the slider pads being worn down to nothing from so much use (razer wants $20+ for replacements), it still works incredibly well.
I wouldn’t suggest Razer these days, their quality is lacking. Anyways, the clicking in GW2 wear out almost anything…
I like it how it is. The male armor is part of what drew me to make so many female Asurans in the first place.
Are you kidding me? You hyped alot with FoV change. I was really looking forward to it. Now i need to wait even longer… This is just absurd.
“Absurd?” Are you seriously saying it is wildly unbelievable / unacceptable that something unexpected happened and you now have to wait a couple extra days for an update to a video game? Can you even imagine how many people are going to die violent and undeserved deaths in the next 24 hours while you whine about having to wait for this update?
“other people have it worse so you can’t complain about anything "
Uh, no.
Uh, yes.
Why did people believe it was going to be today? That reddit post? hahahahaha
Getting your hopes up/down over an unconfirmed interview enough to be Disappointed ? lols.
Because they said in the PoI and in the blog post that the update was going to be today?
It’s been mentioned probably thousands of times. It’s something that they know about/are interested in adding to the game, but they’re not working on right now.
Because not everyone is ‘neat’ and ‘exact’ so as to always use the same Salvage Kit in which players like me tend to use whatever Salvage Kit is closest to the cursor upon opening the inventory, especially when players like me are salvaging items quite frequently and fast.
So instead of learning a small bit of inventory organization, you instead try to get things changed to suit your laziness better? Just put your salvage kits in the same place every time (the same as you would with armor/consumables/etc).
Eidolonemesis.5640P.S. Not everyone wants to consult the Gemstore to buy stuff with real-world-money, like Copper-Fed Salvage Kits, as you suggested. You’re not looking at what I am talking about from all aspects like I am, which is exactly my point.
So use gold. It’s not that hard.
Eidolonemesis.5640But at the end of the day, I think most of us can agree here that a ‘Split Stack’ option should be added to the list when players do a Right-Click over a stacked item vs. using a behind-the-scenes ALT + ‘Drag-and-Drop stacked items to an empty inventory slot’ command not everyone knows about (especially new players) to split stacked items.
Speak for yourself, I think it’s a wholly unnecessary change that’s really just a waste of development time/resources seeing how easy it is to just alt+drag. And, in general, that’s far from the vibe I got from reading the topic.
(edited by Fermi.2409)
I don’t even see the point of allowing combining salvage kits. Why are you half using 2+ different kits instead of using one until it’s used up in the first place?
Because perhaps not everyone, especially new players, want to travel all the way to the Mystic Forge to carry out such a thing as you speak
Why would you not want to do it? It’s like 30 seconds of your time to save loads of trips to vendors later on.
If you only had tanks and healers, how would you kill mobs/bosses, exactly? Just incredibly slowly with no risk of dying? That sounds incredibly boring.
You’re definitely not going to be able to record gameplay well (if you can at all) with that laptop, but it should run the game acceptably on low settings.
What really bugs me is that you cannot add items to an existing stack in guild bank. You have to withdraw the stack, merge them in your inventory and then put them back into guild bank. Super annoying.
This has to do with how the guild bank works due to the fact that multiple people can access it at once iirc.
Im a little confused, GW2 already allows you to combine stacks up to 250 and once it hits that limit it starts a new stack. Im not really sure what youre saying here….sorry…
You can also destack already, just press alt and move the stack to another slot and it will ask you how many to put in the new slot (defaults to 1/2 of the original stack).
This. All of the functionality you just talked about is already in the game.
On occasion. I have the first profession ability bound to V with my bag button as B and in PvP is not uncommon to hit the wrong one/both of them. Similarly, F is dodge and G is the guild panel, and I’ve missed those up afair few times as well. I bought a mouse with 4 extra buttons on it, which led me to my current keybinds, but if something quality (read: Logitech) goes on sale at a reasonable price I’ll probably pick it up.
I hate when people said that in WoW, but owned them there as well. This made me want to go into SPvP and try it as a clicker to show just how good a clicker really can be.
Don’t be mad, simply because you suck as a clicker. Don’t project your bad skills as a clicker on others.
Clicking is pretty objectively worse then actually hitting the buttons, especially for classes like Ele or Engineer.
Player A who does 70% of the damage a zerker player B does survives a whole boss or event fight, is more valuable than the zerker player that gets 2 shotted every 10 seconds and then has to run back.
Which is itself a pretty huge exaggeration.
And even if it was, the general idea of the post is sound.
I should probably say again zerker is important yes but having some demi tanks around is also pretty important
Eh. 4 scrubby zerkers with a decent Ele will be able to clear most stuff before lack of skill causes issues, so I’d honestly rather have that.
Easily. Just use all of your fingers.
If you have issues with the default keybinds, just change them to fit your needs better.
dead dps, is not dps
This phrase has always bothered me. It wouldn’t surprise me if some fellow in zerk gear/setup does more damage then the Nomad Staff Guardian over the course of the whole battle even if he ends up dying halfway through. Especially with the sort of DPS your average pug kicks out, I don’t think that dying halfway through a fight prevents you from outDPSing other people in the party.
Because there is no direct reason that AP indicate any sort of dungeon knowledge.
Most people doing dungeons expect you to know what to do. It’s even worse if you have a high AP.
I never said it did. Reread the bold bit. It’s not unreasonable at all to expect that people know the dungeon if they don’t say anything in chat.
its unreasonable, because AP doesnt represent dungeoneering. Getting AP is mostly about doing dailies, and events.
I assume that anyone who joins the dungeon knows what they’re doing unless they say otherwise. AP (unless it’s <400 or so, in which case I’ll just ask) plays no role in the matter. It honestly doesn’t make sense to think anything else; why would you assume that everyone joining the party has now idea what they’re doing?
I’ve never pugged a dungeon so I don’t know what people say or don’t say. I’ve only read posts like the OP who are upset about people not being a dungeon expert or other posts where people say they got kicked or flamed for not knowing a dungeon completely.
I’ve honestly never seen this happen, and I pretty much only pug my dungeons. As long as you have a slight idea what to do you should be fine. To be honest, though, I myself have been rather short with people who have never done the dungeon before if it becomes apparent and they never said anything about it, since that can cause issues and hold back everyone, and it’s not that hard to let us know so we can tell you what to do.
I sort of know what to do, but not well. If I did pug I would volunteer my lack of knowledge at the beginning but it’s the attitude I’ve seen on the forums that makes me wary of even joining a LFG.
Honestly, you’re seeing the minority of people on the forums. Don’t join “experienced/zerk/whatever” runs, or make your own, and as long as you tell people you don’t know what to do you should be fine.
I also point out that OP said that he believed that if you had a high AP and didn’t know your dungeons then his conclusion was that you were an account buyer. It’s that sort of attitude that there is something wrong with you (a person who breaks TOS in this case) that would make a person hesitant to volunteer that they aren’t a dungeon expert, especially if they do have high AP.
Eh. I don’t really care. I passed 10k AP a couple days ago and have no issues telling people I’ve never done a path before- I’ve honestly never had anyone care in the slightest. I’ve never even heard of anyone thinking something outlandish like the Tkittenil he opened this topic.
Most people doing dungeons expect you to know what to do. It’s even worse if you have a high AP. They somehow think that means you do dungeons enough to know what to do without being told.
How is that an unreasonable expectation, especially if you don’t say anything at the beginning of the run?
Give them all a try for a while and pick whatever you like the most.
Very nice build! However, wouldn’t a quad core CPU prove more effective with GW2 being more CPU focused?
Yeah, but you’re not getting a quad core that will outperform that CPU (especially when OC’d) for <$500 without hugely skimping on something else. If you don’t mind dropping some settings it’ll do fine (~25+ FPS) everywhere in the game, honestly, including large zergs for Teq/Shat/etc.
I would suggest going with a slightly better GPU, at least an r7 or even an r9 260×.
It’s worth looking at 750tis as well. A 260x 2 GB is $20 less (for a quality card; don’t buy PowerColor) then a 750ti right now; 750tis are slightly more powerful iirc so if the price is right it may make sense to go with one over a 260×.
Also I would recommend, just for safety, at least a 600w PSU. 400w would cut too close overall from what I can see.
Wattage isn’t really the important thing (as long as there’s enough of it); PSU quality is more important. 600W is wayyyy overkill for that computer (especially with the 230 in there); 400W is more then ample, although I’d dump the PSU asap and buy a CX430. instead.
Another thing is if you do not want to build a PC yourself, but are looking for something in a $400-600 range, some of the ‘named’ systems are pretty decent these days.
Honestly, doubtful. Show me something and I’ll believe you, but in general you’re losing out hugely in the GPU department, even if everything else matches.
My point is future games may require more than 2 cores.
“Require”. It’s just the publishers trying to make their games seem better because they’re more demanding (=better graphics). Isn’t there already a 3rd party thing to bypass that restriction? iirc there was one out for CoD:AW not long after release.
