So even just capturing the entire monitor in windowed mode gives you the same issue?
That new build should be a decent bit better then the old one for GW2, assuming you overclock the CPU. A GTX 960 isn’t the greatest bang for your buck, though, so you might be able to buy something better there. It seems like you’re getting a prebuilt, though, so it’s hard to say.
Imo, get windows 8 for sure. You can always upgrade to 10 later for free as well.
What died on the old PC, though? You may be able to salvage some/all of it and save quite a bit of money.
What happens if you set GW2 to windowed fullscreen mode, then capture the entire monitor in OBS? Assuming you’re currently doing a window/game capture.
And you’re capturing the whole game window/your whole screen?
We know how gw2 hates amd but this solves nothing. So we still fight here and keep w8ing for some official answer WHEN are they going to fix it.
So either I’m still opened for new ideas and official answer when is this going to be fixed.
The thing is, nothing is really broken. The game just relies heavily on single core performance, which AMD lacks.
Can you set it to scaled resolution 1280×800? It seems like it’s just cutting off part of the video, assuming that that box is the same as the downscaling box for Windows OBS.
Can you show a screenshot of what you’re looking at? I have no idea what you mean by scaled resolution.
In my OBS menu, all I see is this, where you can adjust the scale of the resolution to something more reasonable. Assuming it looks similar to what it does on my screen, set the base resolution to 2560×1600 and downscale it by 1.5x or 2x to stream ~1080P or ~720P video (using the “Resolution Downscale” dropdown box).
If you don’t care about efficiency then have at it.
I fail to see where using esc lacks in efficiency. Its behavior is entirely predictable, and unless you’re running around with loads of windows open the first thing it’s going to do is drop target.
Which gets me back to the request: split the Escape key’s X functions into X single keybinds, please.
(Close windows, Stop ability build-up + auto-attack, Stop Auto-Run, Drop target, Open Game menu, did I forget something?)
No thanks, unless they leave the esc key how it is now and just add more options.
Now the ESC suggestion is silly. :P
I disagree. I find that esc works quite well.
And yet I’ve never had issues with the burrows, and can’t remember the last time I failed then. Even the really bad group I had tonight pulled them off on the first to, albeit with some struggling.
So they were struggling, and yet you find it hard to imagine that other groups managed to fail?
That does not make sense.
It makes perfect sense. If a group that bad can manage to finish the burrows first go, who can’t?
And yet they often are. I have seen it happen countless times

Esc key is a bit out of the way for my keyboard, requires moving my entire hand away from my movement and skill keys.
A: strafe left… S: back up…
strafe right… 1-6: default… Q: dodge… W: forward… E: heal… Utilities: on my mouse…
I click my elite so I don’t accidentally use it.
You can easily hit esc with those keybinds. Use your ring finger/pinky and it’ll be fine.
Just use the escape key…
So, as my request to go along with the new trait/skill system, could you please look at giving every Soulbound Exotic/Ascended item a free single stat-combination choice?
That’s the minimum they should do, and we know they have the technology for that (they did it when they removed magic find gear).
If ArenaNet doesn’t announce doing exactly that soon, I think we will need to vote with our wallet. I suggest not buying HoT (or gems) until they fix it.
It sounds to me like you’re blowing the problem massively out of proportion.
People are going to say that they use a controller and it’s fine, but it’s a huge disadvantage for anything outside of open world PvE (where it’s still not as good but it just doesn’t matter). Just learn to use KB+M, it’s much, much better and easy to use.
Sounds like either user error or you just buying bad mice OP.
Maybe use autohotkey to reassign scroll up/down to some other keyboard button? With a mouse with that many buttons, it should be manageable to just rebind dodge to something else, though.
/15characters…
That’s not bannable, it’s still 1 action per button activation.
No chance, I play my Ranger/Guardian/Warrior all a pretty solid amount and couldn’t imagine picking only one. I like them all for different reasons; it’s just so nice to switch around instead of using the same thing all the time.
I thought you meant movie movies, like something on Netflix, and was rather confused since no one would even know if you’re watching something…
I’m seeing a case of user error here. You can just hover the mouse over each item and it will tell you what it is.
It should run all right on that computer at lower settings. The game itself is around 20GB iirc.
I’d rather have an 11k Ele than a 2k Ele even though we all understand it’s not a foolproof measure.
And when i say ‘shopping list’, i mean a very long and nuanced lfg post.
Things like that are a perfect example of what starts exclusivity. You would rather have player A join your party then player B. As it stands either player can join and try (unless your party just vote kicks), with your filter idea, you remove the ability of player B to join: that’s exclusion.
As it stands some people do make “shopping list” lfg listings, they are NOT the majority. There are many reasons the majority of listings aren’t like this, and many players in runs that are titled with long requirments don’t always hold people to them. Often allowing others to join. So as it stands now, classes that would most likely be excluded by a simple click can currently join. By adding a little check box you can click to exclude anyone playing a certain class you remove that chance, making it 100% certain no one from that class can join.
As I’ve said from the start, a preferred class check box that shows which classes would be preferred might be OK, a filter that’s main function is to exclude others, No TY
The thing is, I should be able to (and can) exclude people from my group if I so choose.
I really hate to recommend a prebuilt, but atm there is a 30% off sale (code: 30SPRING) at HP. So it makes it tolerable when you can get an i7-4790k and a gtx 980 in one for about 1k.
Going to quote myself as I’ve seen much lesser systems for about the same price getting +1, which doesn’t make much sense. I’ll even add the link: http://slickdeals.net/f/7774825-hp-envy-phoenix-desktop-i7-4790-8gb-ddr3-4gb-gtx-980-1089-free-shipping
I’d say go for this, although you’ll most likely want to replace the PSU asap, which will run you another $80-100. Also, (assuming you don’t have a KB/M since you’re using a laptop), getting a decent mechanical keyboard and a good mouse would also be smart things to do.
I forgot to mention that neither of those computers included a copy of Windows. Head over to /r/microsoftsoftwareswap and you can pick one up for $15-20, which you can then upgrade to Windows 10 if you so desire.
if your in the united states go to ibuypower.com buy the best one you can afford and you will be fine yes you spend more for the performance then building it yourself but lots of people don’t feel they can build their own machines
good luck
Definitely do not do this. iBuyPower (and CyberPowerPC) are two sites that you want to avoid. If you’re going to get a prebuilt, go to eCollegePC.com and get a custom build from them (this page).
Probably: CPU: i5-4590
Stock heatsink
ASUS H81M-D PLUS mobo
8 GB of ram (2x 4 GB) ($76 one)
1 TB Western Digital Blue ($57 one)
4 GB GTX 970
Whatever case you want, just please don’t get that basic one because it’s ugly as everliving hell
600watt Corsair CX600 PSU
And leave everything else how it was.
You really should just build your own, though. You get way, way more for your money. I’d suggest something like this.
(edited by Fermi.2409)
A D for strafing. Default bindings are senseless.
Eh, the default movement binds (qweasd) are fine, especially with the use of the right mouse button. The skill/dodge/action ones all needed to go immediately, though.
And you hardly need a G600/something similar, a mouse with 4 extra buttons will let you cover all of the skills in GW2 with ease.
Just wondering, whats to stop some one from switching toons after jumping through your filter hoops?
They’d get kicked, but in general I really doubt people would do that.
People don’t a complain about it because by and large they use keys to activate the skills, like they should be doing.
I’m curious, does anyone know if the Ranger runes still work when your pet us dead?
I get like 40-60 FPS depending on how busy things are. Everything on high except character model count, reflections, and sampling. I’m also running sweetfx.
If worst comes to worst you could rebind it with a 3rd party tool.
If April Fool’s annoys you, you’re an idiot.
Not really. That flickering sepia filter was legitimately painful.
shouldn’t you be playing the game if you think it’s so good.
It’s funny when people think this is a valid argument, cause ya know, it takes all day long to write a paragraph or two. Try harder next time.
Right! And who doesn’t have at least 2 screens now-a-days? Personally, I have 3, so I’m playing AND on the forum at the same time – go figure :o
This is my dream right here. Browse the forums, play the game, and get my kitten on at the same time.
Updated my Game logged in and had a good Laugh. After the Laugh it got annoying, because there was no way to return to my usual play.
Did my daily chores and logged off.
Anet you broke it! Can you fix it? If so please do asap!
You can turn off the sepia stuff and noise, just turn off postprocessing and the sound.
You do know it plays music when you jump and die right Fermi?
Yeah. In the style of old timey stuff. It’s actually pretty funny.
Imagine if a plane had crashed in your state and then a week later you log on and see eveyrone in a video game smiling and making airplane noises……
I wouldn’t give a flying kitten. You know why? Because it’s not offensive in the slightest. If there was a mocking plane crash in game then maybe is be a little put off, but what we have now? Yeah, not at all.
It was insensitive, and offensive.
Not in the slightest.
Dear lord, people on this forum are finding ways to be offended by everything these last couple days.
Yes, I should have to screw with/lower all of my settings just to play the game.
I’ve never had any issues, personally.
I actually like seeing another warrior in pugs (I’m generally running PS banner scrub because I find it fun and I’m too lazy to play Ele to might stack instead) since at least they are usually reasonably capable of not dying. I can’t stand to see the aforementioned staff Guardians or Rangers (although I’m generally pretty happy if I see spotter and melee range from the Ranger).
I generally don’t care excessively much unless the people are really bad, honestly. As much as I like getting the dungeons done quickly (and I run the meta builds on all of my characters) I just really can’t be assed too care as long as things go smoothly and reasonably fast.
I’m curious, how did the game run on the G630? I have a G620+mobo sitting around and I’m not sure if it’s worth setting up as a home/travel PC.
Actually I’ve found myself a class I think. GS ranger. Insanely healy and fun thus far. Plus I have a little bird following that wrecks stuff.
I may regret this once everyone starts telling me I can’t join their dungeons or whatever…
99% of people don’t really care what you play as long as you’re reasonably competent, although ideally you’ll bring at least some of the group support your class usually does (Spotter/Frost Spirit for Rangers).
Ranger is a very good pick, though, and really quite fun. I’d suggest giving all of the weapons a try, though. You might find that you like something you didn’t expect.
You can use dual swords in PvP, but for PvE you’ll mostly want to stick with GS/Axe+Mace.
But since this game doesn’t have a Finder I’m either going to have to pug it or find a guild or something.
Man I miss finders.
What do you mean by finders? GW2 has an LFG.
It…does? Like not a channel but an actual automated group finder tool?
Go to the friend channel and hit the second tab down. Just make sure to read the descriptions before you join a group.

(except that one Legend of Zelda game….seriously!! Link is supposed to remain a lefty!!! -hisssss- )
I’m a righty and this annoyed the crap out of me…
TY
Sorry, the search function don’t work properly =S
Yeah, it’s pretty much entirely broken.
The only ones that are going to complain about ping times under 300 are pvp and fps players and that’s only because they consider themselves elite and their performance is determined by their ping times because their bots can’t go any faster than their internet performance
That’s a pretty kitten condescending statement.
Not to mention that it’s hugely inaccurate.
