Sigh… people generally don’t know as much about computer architecture as they think they do. I can speak to the CPU/Mobo choice. I am running a very similar rig with an Asus Z97 mobo and the same processor. I am locked at 60fps just about everything I do in the game (yes, I do blob wars in WvW). Here’s the trick: That processor is beastly if you overclock it and know what you’re doing. I am running stable at 4.5Ghz on air cooling. GW2 is not optimized to multi-threading, what you need is a very strong single-thread proc, and this one is very good. Also, with your chipset, you can upgrade to an i7 or whatever in the future. That’s a pretty good budget rig.
It’s $500 with no OS and a kitten GPU. It’s not a “pretty good budget rig”, it’s a hugely overpriced computer that’s not going to be any good at gaming.
What are your computer’s specs, exactly?
Definitely a great starting point, although I’ve never been a huge fan of a lot of their decisions. 520W Antec PSU, $60 case, 4 GB of ram, $150 AMD CPU+mobo on a $500 build? Not exactly the greatest way to spend your money, and I don’t think their builds even include windows.
For $500 I’d opt for something like this; OC the CPU and you’re good to go, it includes windows, and you don’t spend loads of extra money on things that don’t need it.
That’s an awful deal, especially since it apparently doesn’t come with Windows. Additionally, cyberpower (and ibuypower) are both crap.
If your budget is only $500, you’re better off building your own.
Also note that unlike the first system you listed, this one does NOT come with Windows installed. That’s an extra $104 for Win 8.1.
Oh, wow. I didn’t even notice that. In that case, yeah, it’s garbage for $475. Nowhere near being worth the money.
Although, Windows is only $93 not $104.
i found a better pc tell me if this works
For $475? Really pretty lacking. An R5 230 is just abominable. Beyond that it’s all right, although I’m not sure what sort of PSU it has- that’s something that should probably be replaced. With a new PSU and a GPU it’d be pretty solid overall, a CX430+750ti or something.
Aetherized or Genesis.
Max FoV and then whatever else works the best. I still wish they would give us numbers on the FoV slider, though.
I don’t really expect much, honestly, so I’ll likely be impressed by what we get no matter what it is.
NO NO NO NO. YES IM
I never had those problems.
Well sir i’m glad you can tolerate all the crap steam does LOL. But me? I CANT STAND IT!
“All the crap Steam does”? Besides the occasional pop-up telling the deals of the week after exiting a game it doesn’t really do anything besides give me good deals on games and keep the ones I’ve purchased organized.
I have to confess, I’m terrible when it comes to hardware and the like. So I can’t really help you there – but you may want to try this website: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri
These sites are generally bad, avoid them.
That should run GW2, although I wouldn’t expect higher settings or above 30 FPS. A dedicated GPU would help but you really need an Intel CPU to run GW2 well.
They mean “clear chat” as in “remove all entered text”. It’s about emptying the content of the chatbox and not the opacity of its background.
Well then. That actually makes a lot more sense.
Just make sure you never try ele, because once you do and see the huge difference in efficiency, you might never want to touch your warrior or guardian again.
Depends on how lazy you are. No matter how much more efficient it is Ele is wayyyyyyyy too much effort for people like me.
There is a clear/less visible chat option. The default toggle button is \.
You can get level 80 exotic backpacks for Guild Commendations as well.
This is what I usually do. You may want to note that the “Assassin” backpack actually has Berserker stats, though.
If I understand what you want, go into the game and hit \
I’m not going to main it (I don’t really even main anything now), but I really like the energy system (I feel like it adds more depth to the class) and I’m just eager to try something new (I already have the other classes all at 80).
Both are useful, so just pick whatever you find more fun.
Alright. Sorry that I wasn’t clear on Ready Up.
The current Guild Wars 2 System calculates the FOV at 50 degrees on the horizontal.
Originally Guild Wars 2 calculated FOV on the diagonal. (You can still get to the old functionality by using -useOldFov)When the new camera ships. You will be an option to modify your FOV with a slider in the options panel.
Hopefully this clears everything up!
What will the maximum value be for FoV sheet the change?
So the manual FoV adjustment is awesome and fixes my one issue with the game’s camera, but why is it just a slider? Having numbers is sort of important to really fet it set properly/easily.
also on the topic of a personal guild bank if it costs 2g per 1k renown then to get the 2500 you need to buy 6g worth plus 1g for the creation of the guild so it should be around 7g to make a guild bank without doing any events to earn the renown
You can buy exactly 2500 for 5g, you don’t need to go over.
This is huge if true.
Confirmed yes! Our blog will be out shortly with more information.
We got the defiance change one, but nothing on the camera changes.
You can also check out the Ready Up show tomorrow at noon pacific time to see some of the new camera stuff in action! So what happened to the article/blog? We have all the other game site ones, but not ANets?
It’s not even 8 AM in Washington yet. Be patient.
Hopefully we get an FoV slider as well. It’s wayyyyyyyyy too narrow as is e.e
I saw one the other day when I was going to do a quick CoF between classes: “p3 pro zerk at least 1 guardian with staff”. I guess they don’t know how to get might…
On the subject of worse bag space: I briefly tried Allods. You start with six slots. Six. And have to pay quite a bit for bigger bags, in actual RL money. I really don’t think GW2 is worse than F2P for bag space
Allods was never that bad. You’re given a larger bag fairly soon through one of the rewards, and you end up at like 24/30 slots by the time you hit the level cap. My Paladin’s bag has been at 42 slots since the level 51 patch and it’s never caused problems (I had been playing off and on since beta, never hit the level cap until ~a week after the 51 patch hit). Once you start pushing into the upper bag sizes it does get pricey, though, but at least there’s gold>gemshard conversion. Andddddddddd now I want to play Allods again…
That being said, even with entirely unupgraded bag space I’ve never really had issues in GW2. I only have 20s on one of my characters, the rest are 15/18 and they almost all have multiple gear/weapon/jewelry sets. I don’t even use my guild bank space; all of the slots are filled with my investments. I do feel like bag expansions are too expensive for what they are, though.
i could care less
*Couldn’t
Don’t make an asura. You’d do your Sunrise a disservice, because of greatswords being reduced to toothpicks on asuras.
Sunrise on Asurans actually really isn’t all too small. I use mine on my minimum height Asuran and max height male Human and it’s plenty showy on both.
Asuran Guardian is the way to go.
Did people really not already know this?
-19 year old male
-I live in and am going to college for engineering in New England and can’t wait to move somewhere else
-I play way too many video games and spend way too much time in reddit, something I’d like to change
-I greatly enjoy reading, especially science fiction (my favorite authors are Peter F. Hamilton, David Weber, and Alastair Reynolds these days)
-I like/am interested in cars and find driving (especially in a convertible in the summer) to be an incredibly enjoyable activity
-My favorite color is green
-My favorite TV shows are NOVA documentaries, Parks and Rec, Top Gear UK, and I’ve been watching Dexter with my mom when I’m home from school. I also enjoy Roadkill and Mighty Car Mods on youtube
-I enjoy computers, especially looking at parts/building them
-While I do tend to play seriously and want to get things done, I’m hugely laid back and nothing really gets to me.
-I listen to all kinds of music, from (90s/alternative) rock to soundtracks (FTL/Halo) to more electronic stuff (Daft Punk/deadmau5) or even a bit of hip hop/rap (mostly Eminem/the Beastie Boys)
Some legendaries have less noticeable effects/footfalls.
If the time and effort you’re going to save isn’t worth five silver, do the kitten ed puzzle yourself and stop taking advantage of their generosity.
I’d be happy to, but if they’re already dropping the portal I see no reason not to take it. That being said, I always do make sure to thank the Mesmer in question.
When I port people on my Mesmer, it’s because I feel like porting people. I don’t want money or anything, and if people sent me some I’d most likely return it- it’s not actually a scenario that’s occurred yet. In this topic, though, it seems like TC just wants to get paid without having to directly say so up front.
I had 1.5g after buying Dawn. Although I hate being brings, it really wasn’t a big deal and I’d definitely do it again. Making gold is really easy, especially when you don’t really spend any of it.
Mind sharing your wisdom then smart guy? Highest I ever had was like 275 because I sold 2 black lion ticket skins at the start of the chinese new year.
Run a few dungeons a day and don’t spend it. Turn Laurels into gold if you don’t need them. Take advantage of any seasonal events going on where you can farm stuff/turn a quick profit.
It’s really not that hard. If you don’t go hardcore on your money making it can take a while to add up, but making 10-15g per day is a breeze, and if you don’t spend it it will start appreciating.

I just dont see it as a jumping puzzle
It’s really not a JP. It’s just… jumping. Even if it’s called a JP, it isn’t one.
I’d call it a very simple jumping puzzle. A beginner’s jumping puzzle.
But it’s not really a JP at all. There’s no puzzle to it or any tricky bits. It’s just a little bit of platforming.
Guardians can be squishy feeling due to low health, but with blocks/blinds/etc it works out. It seems like Guard might be the way to go for you,if you’re interested in the “help people stay alive” type of support

How did you get it?(Paid, or crafted)
Crafted.
How long did it take you to gather the materials?
~1 year. I started going for 100% map completion before going home for winter break in 2013, finished the legendary the night before coming back to school in January of 2015.
What method did you use to gather the materials?
None in particular, until the last ~500g or so. I wanted it before I went back to school, and it was the Wednesday before that so I started selling skill points/items I had had stockpiled but planned to use to finish hammering it out.
I did do a little bit of SW box farming (before it got nerfed) to finish the T6 mats, though.
How long did it take to craft you overall?
Like I said about, ~ a year, but I really wasn’t working on it for the whole time. I just dumped money into it whenever I felt like it. It’s hard to say because I didn’t really go specifically for it too much.
How often did you play during that time period?
A few hours a day, so pretty much the same as normal.
Did you enjoy it?
Not really. I do somewhat enjoy making money for the sake of money, but grinding for stuff isn’t my style any more. I didn’t specifically grind for it, so it’s hard to say, but I didn’t like the feeling that I was going to make all of this money and immediately throw it away.
I’ll likely do it again, though, since I recently got Zap out of the MF, but that’s a different situation.
I’m looking to get hopefully varying feedback before i set off on my “legendary quest”
Just don’t rush it or only focus on it. Put a couple gold per day into it and feel free to buy other stuff you might want as you go along. Just focusing on the legendary will end up with you getting burned out, which isn’t really something you want.
I feel sorry for anyone without maxed bank/bag slots.
It’s not really that bad. I don’t have any additional storage (except 4 50 slot bank guilds, but let’s not talk about that), and I get by pretty much fine. 1 of my characters can’t really be used because its bags are full of crap, but they’re only 8 slots. Even with the rather full bags on my main characters I get by fine for everything, although it probably helps that I tend to salvage stuff as I go instead of doing it all at the end.
(probably has 20 or so slots taken already by gear and items)
20 could very easily be the low end of the scale. My Guardian is down 38 slots right now (Staff/Scepter/Shield/Hammer, 5xwhite salvage kit, mystic salvage kit, 2nd set of armor+jewels+backpiece for zerging, 3rd set of armor for roaming, 1 stack each of Emp Frags, Dragonite, and Bloodstone for drops, and luck stacks). My Warrior is almost as bad and my Ranger might be before too much longer (want some roaming gear).
It’s largely more gear sets that kill bag space, though; I’m hoping that they bring in some build templates that let you store gear in the template, since it would alleviate pretty much all of the issues.
Honest question: what about jumping puzzles in particular makes you sick? I could see the abysmally low FoV causing issues, but that’s present everywhere, not just in JPs.
Why yes, yes you can. Possibly because the game design itself makes it abundantly clear you should focus on playing your character rather than trying to play mine for me.
By and large I agree (or really just don’t care what people are running as long as they’re competent unless it’s really, really bad), but if you’re joining a group looking for certain gear requirements, then you should be playing with the setup those people are looking for.
I pug a solid 99% of my dungeons and it’s honestly just better to keep doing the stacking/normal pug tactics. If you try to do something more effective/different, you just end up splitting up the group and having people running around with their heads cut off (unless you somehow have a pug that actually talks/reads chat so you can communicate the plan, but good luck with that). They may not be the best/fastest, but they still work and everyone involved will (generally) know what to do.
Pinging gear is quick enough already. Takes barely any time to shift click all the gear in your inventory.
Sure it’s easy, but you can still ping gear you’re not actually using.
Usually ~45ish, with everything maxed except reflections and sampling (terrain and sky reflections, render sampling set to native) with sweetfx running. 10-15 in zergs, although I can get it to 20.
1395h or so. I pulled Zap from the MF two days ago when I was tossing in swords from AC tokens so I could get something to sell. That’s the only one is gotten so far.
Spend 20$ on gems and get gold.
20 bucks might be 5- 10 mins work in the real real world, so 10/20/30+ hours of brain dead farming for 20 bucks worth of gems? No thanks.
What are you doing where you make $120-240/h?
Zerk for dungeons, whatever you want for open world PvE, Celestial can be good for roaming/small group stuff, sPvP is its own gear, and PVT/tanky stuff for WvW zerging.
Bleh. I just bought Dawn last week to finish off my Sunrise.
Still, cheaper Precursors will be nice for any further Legendaries.
I’d rather have it stay how it is, personally. I rather like having the male armor on my Guardian.
