Well i got another one of those ‘’I Love you’’ pm mail in the forums today from a gold seller.
Not only offering to sell gold but also…. wait for it……. ANY legendary weapon i wanted too, stating that they had all ready to sell.
So yea.. Legendary’s not legendary at all sorry.
And of course, that PM was completely legitimate and based entirely on fact.
You should be fine.
Also, too bad there’s a ban on naming and shaming because whoever that was sounds like a bit of tool.
As I said earlier, “Glass Cannon = Bad” is a myth. No more, no less.
I will reiterate:
1) A GC who has no evasive utilities and no skill at dodging/judging the fight = dead. Agreed.
2) Same goes for anyone who stacks anything else.
Fox accused someone earlier of fabricating:
because you are making things up to prove your point
Except, he wasn’t making anything up. The “GC SUCKS IN DUNGEONS” line, is a myth. No more, no less (Upward fractals excluded!). A good GC brings a lot to the table. You can pound your chest and stamp your feet as much as you like, it doesn’t change it.
Does it take more skill to play GC in a dungeon? Sure it does.
What about your tough/Vit stacked people. One might proffer that there’s a lot less skill there as you have a lot less to worry about.
GCs have a bad name. It’s true. Death Knights had a bad name in WoW… yet the most skilled? Oh, you can see them solo raid bosses. Not because the DK was a bad class, but because the player was awesome.
Can we get back to having fun now rather than slinging mud around without foundation nor appropriation?
No… it amounts to “this is not an MMO.”
Can you expand on this a bit? Because what you just said makes no sense (to me, at least).
No tanks, no healers. Just DPS.
This couldn’t be more wrong, there is no true dps class, and anyone going glass cannon in dungeons is letting their team down, dungeons are as much about staying alive as they are about dps, on any class.
This couldn’t be more wrong. Bad Glass-Cannon players let their team down. Good glass-cannon players are an incredible boon. I understand that there is a huge influx of bad players GC’ing it and getting downed every 5 seconds. But don’t coat all of us with the same brush. I’ve also seen non-glass-cannon players get obiliterated because they think that because they’re not glass-cannon, they can out-live a boss toe-to-toe. Yeah…
The myth that GC in dungeon = bad (FoTM later levels excluded) is just that, a myth – propagated unfortunately by a lot of inexperienced players who just want to deal high damage. But there are plenty of us who do very, very well in dungeons thanks to use of evasion and good utility choices. And the high dps we output whilst staying alive makes the fights shorter.
First, a short presentation.
To be honest, it was not necessary, because:
Our guild is mix hardcore-casual, 18+ and we have a high loyalty among our members.
I can only assume therefore that if a certain number dissent, that the others will follow suite. This is an assumption of mine and has no basis in reality, but I thought it worth mentioning
Then people started dropping out slowly.
See above.
1. Its a solo game, with lots of people playing together.
The events are great, but there is no need whatsoever, to have a group or a guild. There is NO reason to play in groups with others, you don’t need other players, as long as they are there, playing solo at your side.
The game is too solo friendly, and too easy. We are missing challenges in the game, that NEED groups and even Guild’s to organize and work together.
Here’s where I take exception. Whilst you can solo, it doesn’t have to be that way at all. I hear a lot of stories about people who go in to this game and don’t find people to gel with. You went in to this as a guild, a clan and a group of fellow players. I cannot fathom how you did not work out. I came here on my own, and have had the time of my life. I consider myself a sociable person, however… and will always be around for others. I cast no disparages on your guild but if you felt like it was solo with all those guild members, then something is very wrong.
- Yes, there are 5 man dungeons, but there is no real reason to go down there. You can easily play to lvl 80 and skip the dungeons. And if you want to go, 5 man is easy to find.
You, an experienced WoW Guild, manage to say this? There’s no real reason to run any dungeon, unless you’re after the loot at the end. WoW gives you a chance at loot, GW2 gives you the karma AND the tokens, to get the gear you presumably would be running for. There’s no reason to run dungeons in any game unless you need to. Luckily in this game, it’s for nice cosmetic skins that YOU get to pick and choose. Not a random chance at “best-in-slot”.
2. Where is the Guild in “Guild Wars”?
What is a guild but a set of people with the same principle and outlook?
Basically, this is the main issue, that our members stopped playing before the reached lvl 80. There is a guild function, but nothing you need a guild to do ingame.
I don’t understand the complaint here.
We raised 200 gold ingame for 2 WvW commanders, but WvW is just a zerg where you dont need a guild. Running in WvW as a guild with a commander, just mean that we lead the zerg around.
I’ve seen a huge amount of bad commanders too. You raised the money, led a zerg then wondered why it didn’t work. here’s a hint, there’s more to WvW than zergs, and more to a commander than 100g for a little tag.
We lost many members because there was no use for them. Most played solo, so those who were looking for group, ended up unanswered, because there was no need, no benefit for groups.
So, your “close-knit” guild of many years couldn’t play together and forced people to go solo? Something fishy here.
I’m sorry but as much as I love this game, I have seen far better rants on these forums than this one.
The game is far, far from dead. Participation in the sPvP section (which you appear to be referencing primarily), is another story – but apparently there are large updates on the horizon for Feb, and many hope that this will address some of the short-comings.
The rest of the game is absolutely fine and thriving.
I am all for constructive criticism. Everything can benefit from constructive criticism. The problem with many of the threads that are started on this forum (aside from the “hatred” undertones), is that they are opinion and yet peddled as fact. Some are purely anecdotal and/or blatant misinformation, peddled as fact.
This place would be better, cleaner and far happier (even with criticism) if people learned how to differentiate between opinion and fact, and how to write a post that isn’t inflammatory or down-right idiotic.
I personally think that world bosses are are easy so that they can be pugged by people with no communication. If you start putting interesting mechanics in to a boss, with things that have to be timed/done at the same time, etceteras, than I can see a lack of communication making that event fail continually.
That said, I’d still like to see more interesting mechanics.
Do people truly have so much trouble with thieves in PvP to warrant all this attention?
In reality, people do not have that much of an issue with thieves. Well, those who are pretty decent at their class. Primarily, the people complaining are the people who are dying to thieves burst, and want them nerfed rather than learning to counter the burst and anticipate it.
To be fair, there is somewhat of a culling problem combined with a thief’s stealth, but I do not think it is as widespread as some are making out. I think people are pointing the fingers too much at an easy “reason” rather than buffing their class, or learning to counter.
Way to easy to point the finger outward, rather than inward.
What’s the problem, exactly??
It’s actually doing very well, from what I can see.
Vasham’s such a negative-nancy
Going to war without Logan Thackery is like going to war without an Accordion. All you leave behind is a lot of noisy baggage.
What’s the difference between Logan Thackery and a bucket of manure?
The bucket.
Yes. A server “full of pesky Roleplayers” just happens to be in North America Tier 2.
There is zero correlation between people who like to role-play and their skill at PvP. Zero.
Legendaries are not account-bound.
Twice as much as when they are at 50% health
It sounds like you just do not like GW2. And you’ve just said you only pay the up-front cost. Well, time to grind out those dyes or buy them off the trading-post.
Before the game was out I could sort of see the logic in anet’s decision but now I can’t. Dye drops happen too infrequently (for me at least) which means that I won’t come close to getting all dyes even across all of my 5 toons. They should be changed to be account wide.
Why on earth do you need all dyes on all toons? I for one, wanted all dyes on at least one. The rest of them – whatever they look good in.
What server are you on? Perhaps you’re on a low-population server. Servers like Tarnished Coast have a very high population (which can be a hindrance to transfer to, but it’s not impossible). I see plenty of players in all zones, 1-80.
They should give a precursor as a reward for completing the storyline, period.
Why? The storyline is easy to complete… mostly solo-able up until the latter parts (especially Arah).
Also, thanks for adding “Period”. Makes your point succinct. I’d have not believed it, otherwise.
So, they worked their butts off to get this game out, did content patches, bug fixes, and a huge Wintersday content patch and then somebody complains that they took a break over the Christmas holidays to spend time with family.
Holy moly, now I’ve seen it all.
I want a legendary as much as the next man. I wouldn’t see an increased rate in precursor drops as a problem. The rest of the mats required are pretty intense, but nothing that someone with a bit of time can’t invest in. Everything is obtainable.
I am not sure if I want the precursor rate to change, or not. On the one hand, I want my incinerator. On the other hand, I don’t want to walk in to Lion’s Arch and see every dagger user equipping it.
It’s a fine line, really. Legendary is supposed to be hard to get. But “hard to get” is subjective, I guess.
As others have said, there is good reason why you can’t have different toons on different servers. That said, you and your buddy need to improve your communication
OPs experience is anecdotal and little else.
1,072 hours here. Still loving every part of the game and still so much to do and see!
I’m afraid that’s what MMOs are. Content is released, bugs are fixed, etceteras. You just bought the game and 3 months of updates need to come down. What did you expect? This is not a single-player, static game. It’s a game that ever-evolves and also receives frequent content updates.
Sorry, it sucks – but I don’t see how your post contributes anything because it is meaningless and obvious that there is nothing that can be done about a game that updates frequently.
Maybe a better internet connection? Or just have a few glasses of wine and watch some TV whilst it downloads
As a thief, I keep my stealth skills on stand-by for getting out of a fight, not to get in to one.
I wouldn’t know at what range I was being culled for the other player(s) even if I tried. And, as other classes, I have been a victim of culling. “Oh look, a guy on his own, let me take him dow…. oh, crap.” And suddenly 30 people appear on my screen, probably grinning about this lone thief caught with his trousers around his ankles :P
Hi guys, TC guy here. Have to say, I am loving the challenge your two servers have brought and enjoying it immensely. I have had my most intense fights yet with you guys.
Let’s keep it all friendly, enjoy ourselves and above all, have fun.
/respect
:)
I play a glass-cannon thief.
And I’m very happy with it, and I am not the guy that goes down in the dungeon first. I’ll tell you why. I am very aware of my abilities, and I know my strengths and weaknesses. I range as much as I can (for very decent damage), and I go in for the kill with melee when the target’s health is low.
The axiom that “Glass Cannon” is bad, is a false one. Badly played glass-cannons? For sure. But then that goes with any class in the game. A badly played one will down, and die and perhaps cause a wipe.
I think I’ll take this moment to remind everyone that although exploits are heinous and very unsportsmanlike (not to mention against the ToS), I’d like to remind all that the majority of the population on the 3 servers have been great, bar a few bad apples.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my counters with both CD & TA defences and offensive and if we get knocked back down from T2 to T3 – then I look forward to some good fights again!
@Valik, it can be hard to ascertain who made the most difference in an event. Remember there are those suffering in DEs who are not necessarily getting kills, but acting as support.
You can’t also start awarding badges just because you hit an enemy. Can you imagine the badges that someone can get for a single AOE shot on a zerg? No effort required.
The solution, I think, will be a bit more complicated… I think that when they solve it for DEs they can solve it for PvP. That is, support players can get just as much contribution (towards medals or badges) as the direct damage players. What that solution is, I am unsure of, right now.
Working exactly as expected and all the better for it. Sorry your power went out and you had to go have dinner. Such a strain.
Aside from the delicious amount of karma that can be obtained in much less time then DEs, one can also burn through their daily event quota in no time at all.
I consider myself an in-betweener, but you seem to be under the misconception that you have to have a legendary “right now”. I am quite a fair way off mine, but that doesn’t stop me working towards it. It’s a goal. There’s no race. You want the skin, you work towards it. It is NOT out of bounds of a casual player, it will just take time.
Speaking as a glass-cannon thief (which I love to play), I wouldn’t change anything about them. I have a healthy respect for Champion Mobs. During solo play I find myself kiting a lot, and dodging a lot. Whatever class you are, if you’re a glass-cannon build you’re going to have to learn to evade.
When that champion mob is < 25% health, then I’ll go in for the kill.
Nothing needs to be changed.
It might be somewhat mitigated if Fractals worked like other dungeons and you could grab a 5th who would join you.
If I would you, I’d find a class that you enjoy playing. You’ll get lots of posts about what is best in both scenarios and whilst there is some truth to it, I’d always pick a class I enjoyed to play, rather than the one that is “best”.
Try a few out, level each to 10 at least, perhaps beyond and get a feel for them. Perhaps you’ll prefer one over the other. I come across all different classes in PvP and PvE and if you’re not a “by the numbers” person, I honestly think you should play what you enjoy. From a PvE perspective it doesn’t matter that much, and all classes get kills in PvP. Some more than others, for sure – but it’s about your fun and enjoyment. Not about the numbers, right?
It might just be the server that you’re on. On Tarnished Coast, I see players in every single zone all the way from 1-80. Also, what hours do you play? Playing off-hours, the world is sometimes not as heaving – but on TC I see people all the time and rarely feel alone.
My main is a thief however it is thieves and not Engineers that need the nerf bat
Whilst I disagree with the engineer nerf, your statement that thieves need a nerf pretty much proves to me you don’t actually play a thief.
Portal bombs work because a mesmer is in your keep.
I think I see the problem here…
@Fiennes
How are warriors OP? LOLWow. There are so few warriors out there for you to make that argument. If any class should wreck a thief, it should be the warrior. Especially high crit ones.
I disagree with your assertion that warriors are not OP… that said, I love your username (L)
Apparently the new plan is to keep buffing thieves every patch. I mean they obviously don’t listen to the community and just do their own thing anyways.
Oh look, someone else who can’t counter thieves and needs to have a minor weep on the forums.
A few patches a go, we were nerfed to hell. Yet warriors are now more OP than ever. That’s fine. Balance is balance. I suggest you go and crawl back in to the hole you crawled out of.
If it is an internet issue, you’re out of the fight anyway. This is just a way to reward the players who were getting kitten off with people Alt-F4’ing. It’s just a death stat to you, it means nothing.
Btw – great job FA with the Dolyaks…..
Whelp, thanks to you, the thread has potentially gone south already!
BTW, whats the price of (unidentified) dyes in your server? Tarnished Coast is about 13 silver ea.
Given I am on TC also, exactly as you say salute
I don’t think so. I think the fact they are tied to a single character keeps the market for rare dyes healthy.
Unlike some of the others posting here, if I saw you running around naked I’d just leave you be. I don’t have to kill an unarmed man just to get another “kill”.
