Sadly GW2 isn’t as good as GW1 was and I’m not entirely sure what ANet can do to fix that.
Really ? Fix something that is great ? I hope Anet won’t “fix” our GW2 into GW1 , haha
If you enjoy gw2, great go and play it, read forums like this and laugh but leave it at that! Guild wars would be nothing without the fans from the original.
If the original is so different from the current iteration, then evidently the fans from the original had very little to do with Guildwars 2
I actually think this is a really neat idea. +1.
Thieves would like a word with you.
Played since Beta, then quit for just over a year or so. Came back for HoT and am having a blast, thoroughly recommend it.
I was expecting Logan to be a “pretty boy” so to speak, targeted at women and most specially young girl players. This is why I hated him before Guild Wars 2 even launched. Turns out he was different from a “pretty boy”, turned out to be more like that buffoon team mate who afks in the middle of a dungeon boss fight because reasons.
Leeroy Logan?
I see no issue with small guilds having a guild hall if the resource-costs to upgrade are equal and not reduced. You’d have to work a bit harder, but that should be the guilds’ prerogative!
And I agree. That’s pretty much what I’ve argued with people over for months now. Most smaller guilds don’t mind working for it, we do mind intentionally being disregarded though (or repeatedly told that we aren’t a guild because we don’t match some arbitrary body count).
Exactly. And I can’t fathom why someone else would argue against it and say “You’re not a real guild”, because it DOESN’T AFFECT THEM. You’d pay the same costs, farm/buy the same materials, do the same guild missions. And as a small guild, you’d have to farm harder, and fight harder than the larger guilds.
Now, which one is more hardcore?

It is by design and make quite a bit of sense. If it spun up a guild hall map that had a cap of say 200 people every time one person from you guild entered it would have to also reserve 200 people worth of server resources.
I understand what you mean by making sense from an architectural perspective, but it makes no sense when it comes down to moment-to-moment usage. One solution might be to spin up at guild cap when the first person enters the instance. Nobody in there, no instance. You’d not have to have the server allocating all those resources all the time.
I suspect it’s a bug.
No, I actually think this is by design. I don’t remember if that was in one of the blogs, or in one of the twitch streams, but I remember the comment made about more of the map ‘opening up’ as the number of people present increased, and needing to swap to the new instance. I thought it was mildly inconvenient at the time.
That seems incredibly short-sighted. This means anything you create that is instance-based gets destroyed. Everyone would have to schedule to join at the same time (and god forbid someone accidentally disconnects). I truly hope that gets changed.
I suspect it’s a bug.
If you get abuse, I’d report and move on. ANET may not do anything about it, but hey you’re playing the game as well. The “everyone follow a commander” thing has its plus and minus points (especially if said commander doesn’t actually know what they’re doing, but that’s normally the exception to the rule). However, as good as the XP & loot is – I must admit it’s rather muted “auto-pilot” game-play for the most part.
Report, move on.
I think they’d have to do it via “small guild halls” and not scaling of mats. With the former, you’d require less mats, but have a maximum capacity (e.g. 10). If you scale the mats but keep guild hall size, ANET is opening themselves up to exploits (e.g. kick all but 10 members, build guild hall, invite ’em all back).
Different sizes with capacity restrictions is the way to go, imho.
Sorry, I do not believe this is a good idea. I’ve never, ever, struggled with waypoint costs, and with the fact that repair costs are now about to be a thing of the past, if you’re still struggling with waypoint costs – then you have deeper issues.
What’s the rush to 80 if there’s no real difference in the content you can do anyway once you get there?
.It’s nice to have options. At 80 you can play any dungeon and play in any zone.
But have no waypoints…
I’d say it sounds more like player activated content.
Nothing says that you get to pick where the “X” goes, just that you create it. I kind of expect that each zone will have a few set “Treasure X” spots in it, and when you use this the events stuff starts at one of them at random.
True, but:
Double-click this item to place an X on your map
That sort of implies (to me at least) that the X is created where you currently are.
Stupid question, but I assume you’ve already maxed your extra bag slots and bank slots?
you want more skills look at these options
sad this is they are all mostly used during a run
Yes, just how this makes me more productive (somewhat tongue-in-cheek).
Gonna stay in Anvil through thick and thin , although things could change .
That’s not what “through thick and thin” means, then
Tarnished Coast is the “Unofficial” RP Server, and it’s an excellent server (and good at WvW too!), and very friendly. Highly suggest your friends keep trying it’s a great choice!
This needs official ArenaNet intervention.
Why is the guy next to him not called Hardy?
Come on ArenaNet… SLAP IN THE FACE…
There has been talk from developers about a scavenger hunt for precursors.
That said, it has been mentioned it’s not being currently worked on – so don’t expect it in March.
Can you not just go:
if(numSlots == 8 )
showDialog(“Sorry, you cannot use more slots! <3”);
Surely this would prevent people buying more bank/bag slots than they can use?
significantly above average?
it’s still the easiest in the game.
You’re not seriously suggesting that Breached Wall is easier than Urmaug’s Secret, are you?
- Increase the amount of items that can be mailed at one time
- When dropping items in to a mail, make it more noticeable that the item has been dragged in to the message. Right now, the colouration difference is negligible and it can be hard to see at a glance what has, and has not been, placed in the message. (Wow used to totally grey out the item – it was obvious you’d placed it!)
WvW
- Show me where my guildies are, not just my party.
General
- Remove NPCs that are standing around with no function, directly next to bankers/black trade guys – Lion’s Arch. In a mass of people, hitting “F” to say “Hello” to some pleb that has no bearing on anything, rather than the actual target is silly!
I may guest on your server for the next event, just for some lodestones :P
It’s be vastly amusing if Final Rest had been looted at some point, and the guy who did didn’t use a staff and then subsequently salvaged it using a Basic Salvage kit and went on his merry way…
It’s NOT optional if he is trying to complete the map, or complete all maps, which is a requirement to obtain those two thingies that count if you are going for a legendary.
My old lower spec computer failed completely on jumping as the screen view was awful most of the time, since I got the new comp it’s better but yeah being an older gamer doesn’t make it fun to try and do these puzzles- besides which, I thought jumping games were pretty much covered by Mario on a handheld and we had moved on from platform games?
It is optional, as legendaries are optional. Trite responses aside I can only imagine that older gamers (or those with lower-end PCs) may have issues with certain aspects of the game, but to remove them or make them easy for that demographic seems a bit asinine to me. The OP said himself, he managed to get the Skill point and missed the last jump. That must have been pretty frustrating and I guarantee you if he’d made that last jump, he’d not have been posting here. I’m 99% certain this thread exists because of the frustration at him/her self for missing the final part, rather than an objective criticism.
There are jumping puzzles I have still to complete, because I’ve stormed out going “F- This for a game of soldiers”, after multiple failures. I didn’t start a thread about it though because the issue lies with me – not the game.
I could never fathom why people hate on Role-players. It’s just a sub-section of the player base doing what they enjoy doing. If another player is making time to abuse or belittle those that are doing it – it says more about their lack of social-awareness. And the PvPers cannot complain either. Tarnished Coast is a Tier-2 server. Hmmmm…
Anyway, regurgitating rules at a player supposedly leaving. I wonder which part of t heir thought process hinted that it mattered to him.
The fact that he posted.
These people are always attention kittens. No exceptions. If you want to leave, leave. Dramatic “I QUIT” posts are never about people leaving, always about drawing out that extra bit of attention and pity.
Quoted for posterity. Any normal human being, who doesn’t like a game – merely moves on. That’s it. The “I quit” posts (sometimes under the guise of providing “guidance” to new players – as though their opinion carries any weight whatsoever), are just attention-seeking.
a tonic to become.. “a guild banner”. Underwhelming.
Yes, because by quoting just that you miss out entirely on the rest of the interview. Way to isolate a statement.
And all the Thieves that do 18k laugh at your paltry 11k damage. Also, My Ranger does 10k using Rapid Fire, even more if her rune proc’s, so there’s nothing particularly special about an 11k crit, especially when you have to set it up with weapon switching.
No thieves will laugh, because it’s impossible to do 18k crit in 1 hit.
He didn’t say they do it in a single hit. But the correct opener and follow-up, traited correctly, will do that 18k in FAR less time than a Warrior’s blades.
I agree that people should not just randomly invite people to parties without a whisper (though friends are excluded from this). What you might consider is, before going and running a dungeon on your own – invite a friend to your party (not to join you, explain what you want to do), and then you won’t have the issue.
This has the added bonus that you can quickly type “HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLP” when things go sour
Zomorros does not love, nor does he hate. He is utterly impartial to your whims. You throw things in, he rolls a D20 and you get the result!
This used to (and perhaps, still does) happen in WoW all the time. What I used to do was open the trade window and put 100 gold in to the text box. Then, I’d go and have a cigarette – maybe make a cup of coffee. On my return, more often than not, the guy was still there, whispering “Please Hit Trade… come on, pls… Hit trade…”.
I wish GW2 had a trading system just so I could do this.
Dear valued customer,
We, at ArenaNet, apologise for not specifically fixing your issues in priority to all the other things we have to do. We understand your concerns and that your gameplay is utterly ruined because of it. We will endeavour in the future to address your concerns before anything else. Besides, all we do here is play golf, right?
Kind regards,
Birdy’s Personal Customer Support Team (Now Hiring)
This has been a fun week, with maps turning green, red and blue. The tenacity of all 3 servers has been a pleasure. And my apologies to the BG PvE’ers who were getting map completion on your borderlands… It’s hard to tell if you’re a threat before my knives are out. <3
Sounds like you never learned any tactics or teamwork in dungeons and just preferred to zerg rush the bosses. Now you have to actually do some real work.
Thieves are better for pvp, for pve you have better options (guardian, warrior). I always prefer a party with warriors or guardians only. It makes things easier.
Then clearly, you’ve either rolled with bad thieves or do not understand the class. The reason I say this is because in these threads there are always plenty of posts describing exactly why the thief is a boon to any party… and then someone just ignores that and posts comments like this. Just need to jump on the hate-wagon, huh?
There’s no reason to have a thief at all. Every class can do something they can but better, except stealth. Not really a big need for that in any dungeon. Thief = WvW, sorry but that’s all they shine at.
I suggest you read a bit more. It’s clear from this that you have no clue about the thief class whatsoever.
1) Don’t use titles that look like fact, but are opinion.
2) Don’t judge dungeons based on your ability in a PuG group.
Take all the rage from the deaths in the Borderland Jumping Puzzles due to teams camping it, bottle that rage and poor liberally over the entire world of Tyria.
Simmer for a few minutes, and watch the game die.
Looking at some of the names on that list, I think I’d avoid running dungeons with them anyway.
Your only hope is to put a support ticket in, making sure that it is covered in kisses and loving words and terms of endearment – and hope that the guy that answers it is having a great day :P
I have also looked at the thief but that seems very single target oriented and limited in usability in wvw.
ROFL.
Oh look, another “Nerf Thief” thread. It’s been – what, a day or so since the last one? Or was it hours? As others have said – he trolled you… you weren’t killing him and evidently he wasn’t killing you. He messed with you for an HOUR, and none of you had the sense to just walk away?
And whilst stealth can make combat interesting, there are plenty of other class abilities that are pretty “OP” in my opinion. But hey, rather than complain I either learn to counter it, or attempt to avoid it. That’s it.
Ascended is how ever required for WvW if you want to be at your best. See how far you get playing in greens.
Whilst you comment about greens is legitimate, Ascended Gear isn’t going to give you that much of an advantage in WvW. Perhaps in a 1v1, assuming both players were of equal skill and latency… but how often does that happen?
How is dodging not natural? It’s pretty much a combat requirement.
The forums have now hit a new low.
An issue has been fixed. Quick, let’s make a post to complain about how long it took to do!!!!
I’m astounded.
