I agree. I’m a lover of storylines and dialogue, but in an endgame map that is supposed to be conveying urgency and action the bulls do a really good job.
Probably a stuff up.
Understood, once again Thx for the replies. Lastly I have one more question, I’m on the east coast, what’s the closest server to me in in Washington DC. I want to join the right world
All of the US servers are in Austin TX, so it doesn’t matter which one you pick
It activates challenge mode for that particular story mission – that’s probably why they didn’t want you to touch it. The last mission of the previous LS release had one.
The Skritt tosses the bottles until you find the Lost Coin thingy that is right next to the woman (at which point he completely disappears). I’m pretty sure he’s just being aggressive because he wants the shiny next to her.
Are we 100% sure these aren’t intentional jabs at a) people constantly making spelling errors when typing character names and b) the fact that authors are not wholly reliable sources of information? If they’re genuine errors then that’s quite poor.
I doubt it would be used in a deus ex machina fashion. It’s Glint’s baby and Glint wasn’t exactly the magical fix for the Elder Dragons… The baby/egg might unlock some kind of new knowledge, but I don’t think they would use it solely as the means by which we defeat the dragons.
Just to clarify here, the piece that plays in Glint’s Lair is indeed a new version of the original Guild Wars piece “Crystal Oasis”. It’s not really a remix, more of a “reimagining”. It’s mostly the same, but with a couple small changes to the orchestration/arrangement, and a slightly longer intro. Also, the orchestra is a live recording with a few light synth elements mixed in, whereas the original version is completely made up of virtual instruments.
The suggestion to redo it was designer and occasional composer Leif Chappelle’s. He thought it would tie in nicely to the area where Glint’s Lair was in the original Guild Wars, and I agreed with him. I’m glad people are making the connection.
Can it please be made available somewhere? Crystal Oasis is my most played song on iTunes, I would love to have the new version as well. It’s such a haunting track.
My graphics card is actually a Nvidia GeForce GT 330M. I do have an intel HD 4000 but my computer runs better on my nvidia so that is what i use. But are you recommending i use bootcamp? If so is there a version that is best for guild wars 2?
You can use whatever version is easiest to get your hands on – XP, Vista, 7, or 8. But I would strongly suggest opting for the 64bit version of the OS and getting either professional or ultimate (home doesn’t make full use of RAM I don’t think? i could be wrong though). But yes, you will see an increase in performance if you run the game in bootcamp. The OSX client is a cider port so its capabilities are rather stilted, not to mention it seems to be littered with problems. So if you can run the game in bootcamp, I would do it.
Could be not necessary a racism, could be just low culture level, lack of education, some kid throwing around stuff he hears around in his natural habitat. Plus afaiu it’s ok to use that N word for black people, so how do you know etc. As for Taidha, never heard anything like that on Taidha, not like i do it often, but never heard anything like that about Scarlet either, this reminds about another similar topic where OP was upset about usage of the G word and homosexuals being mistreated or whatever. I also had no clue what he was talking about. I dunno, i play on EU and maybe on NA it’s a zoo like that, but i haven’t seen any or much of a crap like that. Maybe i just don’t really pay attention, who knows, but i remember i said that to some of my friends and they were just as surprised as me.
Just because you aren’t educated to know that what you’re saying is racist, homophobic or whatever, does not mean that it isn’t. Intent doesn’t always matter a whole lot when you’re being completely ignorant and insulting people. Nor is ignorance an excuse for being rude or making derogatory remarks.
Unfortunately for you I think most players are probably against having ridiculous skin colours for humans. Yes the game is fantasy, but things still have to make some kind of sense.
You have the ability to report players. Do it.
You can always try deleting the GW2 folder in Application Support in the user library – the instructions are in the sticky thread of this forum.
What is your graphics card. Is it just the integrated intel card?
Unfortunately I’m not super sure you’re going to get any higher than 15 (though I used to play on around 15 and I don’t think it’s that bad). I have a late 2011 MBP and in the OSX client it definitely sits under 30FPS. If you really want to play at over 30FPS using your mac you’re going to have to boot into windows…
I’m still hoping it’s Elli.
On the one hand, would be weird since a lot of players won’t have a clue who she is thus making it anticlimactic. On the other hand she IS in OoW and is relevant to the personal story. So it could be, but I’d guess not just because she’s too unknown.
Yeah they were pretty clear during development that they wanted race to only impact cosmetic and story based options. You’re not going to see any kind of racial traits because it would make certain races better suited for certain professions or certain situations. It’s the same reason we’re unlikely to see the addition of new racial skills either.
Yes please. They could even just do it by map, or by region e.g. Maguuma diver, Krytan diver – at least we would have some indication of which maps we’ve missed things in.
@Baoz, that is rude and unproductive.
I don’t think it’s implausible, Logan is a Seraph which could explain why we were contacted by E about the initial ‘disturbance in Brisban Wildlands’ stuff.
Unfortunately I don’t think there’s anything concrete to grasp on to; so sure it could be Logan, but it could still just as easily be someone else. It could just be the Order of Whispers for all we know.
The game will suffer – but because of the client, not because of your machine. What graphics card do you have in there? If it’s the Nvidia card then the game should run really well. If it’s just the intel card I’m not really certain sorry!
I’ll agree that it is reasonably harmless in comparison to a race change (race changes should never happen), and it isn’t exactly outside of the lore either since we’ve observed characters changing professions within GW lore. I imagine if they were to introduce this it would be when they eventually release a new class.
Absolutely. But not any time soon I don’t imagine. Anet has made it clear that they want to stick to continental Tyria for the moment and it makes sense to focus on the immediate threats posed by the dragons. But I definitely think Cantha and Elona are going to be opened up somewhere down the line – it might just take a couple of years.
I could think of many reasons to go back to the eyes of the north and revisit the scrying pool/fix it. Not the last of which is its origin, Discover who built it and why. Had it been there since the last rising? Nobody alive really knows, but it could have been. Also if did show the GW1 PC the rising of Primordus, well, his champion, but still, it was in tune with the elder dragons then, why not now? Perhaps now isn’t the time for it, but I think there could be plenty of things that place could be used for.
The Norn fled south to where they currently are because they were driven there by Jormag – if the Northern Shiverpeaks are uninhabitable then I can’t imagine getting up there would be worth the lives it would cost. We have the portal stone, but I’m reasonably sure that’s just a mechanic for getting GW1 players their reward.
@GreatWoolf, that’s great and all but it’s only going to work for very specific people.
My University is on there, but I would have to be a business or economics student to get it. So basically it’s only relevant for people who are students, go to supported universities, and take specific courses.
Also it relies on users actually being willing to install bootcamp in the first place. Not everyone wants to take up the space or boot into windows to play GW2.
Yeah not sure that it makes any sense at all. It makes a lot more sense for the Mursaat to have constructed it since it was specifically serving them. It was in no way doing anything to help Abaddon. Having the Mursaat continue to perform sacrifices on the blood stone meant that Abaddon’s minions remained trapped in the Foundry.
I mean never mind that a lot of it relates to wider fields of real world philosophy. But sure, if your minds immediately go to that then so be it.
Shiny is a saltspray dragon though.
Isn’t the Simurgh a legendary bird though? (Similar to the Garuda or Phoenix.)
Yes but I don’t care
Also mythology isn’t so clear cut with animal species. Mythologies from around the world quite often have some kind of large flying beast – some places have dragons, some places have ‘birds’. Maybe they’re they same things (except that they aren’t real but whatever).
Simurgh (I don’t even care if the DSD can’t fly, Simurgh is a cool name)
I think it would’ve been cool for them to use the scrying pool in the eye of the north.
I think the scrying pool is broken, and there’s not really any lore reason for us to be able to get up to the HoM (or for us to go up there)
It’s definitely either travelling in time or at least experiencing/viewing the past. Pretty sure that’s why the hourglass is there and why it’s called “Echoes of the Past” – it’s a pretty cliche name.
We already have an AoE autoloot. The option is in the options menu. Seriously….
bo-staff for elementalists
something like this
We had Bo Staves in GW1 though, and they functioned the same as any other staff, so it wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense :/
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Bo_Staff
But I don’t think polearms are a bad idea, I’m sure you can find another profession to fit them into xD.

A lot of people don’t want player generated content, myself included. One of the reasons to play a themepark MMO is that everything is done by the developers which ensures complete consistency. Player content, no matter how policed it is, is never going to be of a consistent standard, not to mention the policing of it just takes time and resources away from the developers and their ability to actually produce content.
If you want player generated content can I suggest going and playing in a sandpark game, they exist specifically for that purpose.
Birthday gifts are only for character birthdays, it’s been that way since GW1.
These are a lot of different errors… i strongly recommend deleting the GW2 folder inside Application Support in the user library. And also make sure you restart your computer afterwards…
+1 the older login screen was gorgeous. Adding login to the launcher achieves next to nothing.
Well that is definitely a legitimate issue. All I can really suggest is filing a support ticket sorry. You can always try an SMC and PRAM reset to see if that helps at all, but I doubt it.
Network errors don’t tend to be caused by the game client. So possibly there was a server issue or perhaps your internet cut out, wireless cut out, you have a port blocked, etc.
Haha yeah might have been worth specifying that that is what you were doing in the first place.
It is definitely your computer.
GW2 would never open your browser and it certainly doesn’t have ads of any form within the game.
You have malware…
@Kahrgan, I don’t know where you live that considers Friday part of the weekend.
the USA, Australia, NZ, and the UK all consider Saturday and Sunday to be the weekend.
Not to mention Arenanet is a US company operating on a US schedule, which they always have, so by definition the weekend would be Saturday whatever timezone Arenanet is in…
The world doesn’t revolve around the USA, I don’t think anyone here is trying to say that it does, but Arenanet certainly revolves around the USA.
Have you looked in the sticky thread of this forum that has troubleshooting instructions.
There are instructions in there on how to delete the GW2 application support folder which may be of use (it just forces the game to re-download the 8MB files for the launcher).
Otherwise I’m wondering if it could have something to do with a specific port being blocked by your router that GW2 needs?
How long have you tried to leave it open when it hits that number? Try letting it sit there for an hour and then come back and see if it has progressed.
Yosemite upgrade - Mac client not working

There are two config files – one is inside the GW2.app, the other is in Application Support. You could try looking at both, though I don’t think it should have any impact whatsoever.
Speaking of Application Support. Go trash the Guild Wars 2 folder in there. The instructions are in the sticky thread of this forum.
If none of that works, open up the GW2.app (right click, show contents – but I assume you know this already if you’ve been messing with the config file). In that folder go Resources>Transgaming>C_Drive>GW2> Now find the GW2.dat file, and copy it to your dekstop. That’s the 21GB file and now you have a backup of it.
Once you’ve made a copy of that file just delete the GW2 app and also the application support folder. Then redownload GW2 from the website, once it starts redownloading all of the files you can just grab the copy of the .dat that you made earlier and paste it back into the GW2.app
- Hopefully that works?
I think with the recent changes to the New Player Experience they put skill challenges behind a level gate – you need to reach level 13 and then you can do them. It’s idiotic but for some reason that’s what they did.
Can I STRONGLY suggest that you go to the General Discussion forum and make a topic telling people how you are a new player and find it confusing that skill challenges and other content are level gated. Maybe they’ll start to realise how stupid the changes were and revert them.
Presumably the Priory don’t know the dragons name. If they did there wouldn’t be a good reason for players to not know it.
Can you not. There are periods of time where I just can’t log in for weeks because of university, it doesn’t mean I don’t love the game or want to be able to contribute to discussions.
It’s not breaking the lore. For the whole time that Halloween is operating in GW2 you should assume that the period of one day is being covered. It’s extended to cover a week or two so that people can actually play the content.
