Part of the problem for me is that I was a GW1 player – so when I think of Humans I think of all the professions xD. But with the other races
Sylvari → Ranger, Elementalist
Asura → Engineer, Mesmer
Charr → Warrior, Guardian, Engineer
Norn →Warrior, Ranger, Guardian
As Halcyon points out, it’s been there since launch
Tearing down the walls would leave you with giant gaping blue spaces in the world. The maps are not all connected up to one another, they’re separate chunks. If you glitch out of the map and go to the edges there is nothing there, it’s not like GW1 where everything was joined and you could glitch out and then run through the world.
Also I’m not really sure of the point of your larger paragraph, yeah they could make the line where you cross to get between maps larger – FFXIV does this – but what’s the point? It doesn’t change the fact that each map is still its own separate thing.
In response to Number 1 – It’s not possible. GW2 is built off the GW1 engine, it doesn’t allow for borderless maps. The game struggles even now on some of the larger maps…
I think Glimmer is a great theory.
To you and all those who think that Glint’s child is E, explain to me this:
How can a dragon cover Marjory’s mouth and bring a knife to her throat, in the middle of Divinity’s Reach?[/quote]
How could a dragon NOT cover Marjory’s mouth and bring a knife to her throat, in the middle of Divitnity’s Reach? Explain to me that
To be honest, I don’t think their longevity plays any factor, seeing that they were alive the last time the ED were active and were still alive during Guild Wars 1.
You can argue that the Mursaat in GW1 were the descendants of the ones 10,000 years ago, but that race strikes me as one that, much like the Human Gods, have certain aura of divinity or power about them.
Although I do agree that the White Mantle, and also their masters in the shadows have greatly diminished the danger they posed, due to their dwindling power and numbers.
How does longevity NOT matter. At the end of GW1 there was only 1 known Mursaat left in existence; so it’s not like we are going to see the descendants of that Mursaat unless Mursaat have the ability to simply replicate themselves…
Its not RNG only
Just requires you to lure the small creature to get to you, kite it away from its original spot until it suddenly warps back.
At the moment where it warps back, it will land at one of the 3 color pads.
If it lands then on the red pad, and you kill it then, then your group will get red.Does it land after the back warp on blue/green and you kill it, then you become blue/green.
I did the achievements yesterday with a group and we had the same problem after the first initial red we got and nearly DPSed the big one to death, but sadly ran out of protection time so that we had to break off the DPS to get not killed.
After that and like a douzen of various tries, we figured out how to get exactly the color that we want. But even then its just a matter of time and patience, because the real RNG lies here in the warp back to the color pads, which you can’t influence wqhich one gets chosen, so theres always a 33,3 periodic % chance, that you will get red at that moment.
That’s still RNG. It’s RNG as to what colour it is at first when it spawns in the middle; and it’s RNG as to what colour it will teleport to after you kite it. Yes you can actively wait until it teleports to the red column and then kill it, but the preceding steps were still RNG.
I think he was surprised that we didn’t know/hadn’t figured it out…
The only profession I’ve ever seen tied to long distance communications would be.
Warriors Shouting! Ha!
You sir/madam, deserve a cookie.
First off, we know from the “Lost Parents” human storyline that the White Mantle aren’t gone. Aside from that storyline, though, I think the only other reference to the White Mantle is an event in western edge of Brisbane, and that’s entirely ghosts. So I guess it’s not entirely a surprise that the White Mantle is acting out there…
Actually there are a lottt of references to the while mantle in the game
Yeah the distance at which they trail really bugs me. GW1’s mini’s stuck much closer to their owner and it was great.
Often times when I’m in a semi-crowded area I can’t even spot my own mini because for some reason it isn’t by my side… And of course the second I start walking around I just forget I even have one.
If no NPC’s were voiced for you perhaps you should check the audio settings and make sure Dialogue is on full.. Maybe even turn everything else down and turn your speaker/headphone volume up?
Yeah, I liked the hints everywhere that the White Mantle had a significant presence in the Silverwastes.
Although I’m still baffled as to why the Nightmare Court and Inquest would have been working with them.
Because… y’know… they’re evil. (In all seriousness though, I also think it’s idiotic.)
Yeah the fact that the chest overrides all shoulders is kind of annoying :/
Also I don’t ever recall that being Ritualist’s main purpose…
According to the lore their main purpose is communing with and channelling the spirits of their ancestors. Their magic is also technically not magic in the same sense of the other professions (it wasn’t magic gifted by the gods because it existed before then, and is supposed to be a kind of ancestral power)
Actually the shoulders do have their own skin – you can see it if you place them on another armour set (that isn’t the Orchid set). It’s just that the Orchid set has the ‘shoulders’ built into the rest of the main chest piece. Presumably it was too difficult to have them as a piece separate from the main body and still have them move/behave in the same way.
It’s not laziness, the skin does have it’s own skin, there were just obviously decisions that went into the overall design of the armour that made this a necessity.
Yeah it’s RNG. Super lucky if that’s how it happened for you. But definitely RNG. When I did the achievement me and my team tried everything and it took us a very very long time to get the achievement.
The second time I did it with a guild member and the best thing to do is just not kill the minion until it teleports to the red column – then you can kill it and get the buff. If you don’t kill it then it keeps teleporting around to the different columns (and thus getting that colour buff) so if you wait a while they’ll eventually go red (which is faster than killing them all asap and hoping for red, unless your’e blessed by the RNG gods)
I am feeling like I missed out on so much now. All my hologram scenes were complete silence, even the last one. :/
It is ONLY the final one that is voiced. The rest are silent. The dialogue is quite quiet, so it’s possible you just didn’t hear it. You can always play back through and have a listen at the end!
Only the party leader can activate the dialogue, but it should still show up on screen for the other people in the party. They won’t be able to interact with it, but it will still show up and allow them to read it (so long as the party leader doesn’t click through it). If it isn’t showing up at all for your girlfriend when you’re opening the dialogue then try filing a support ticket :S because it should.
Buying it from the NCSoft store probably isn’t the greatest idea. You should be able to find the game much cheaper on online video game stores. I personally wouldn’t go with ebay since you’re at the mercy of whoever is selling, but that’s just me.
Amazon is a good place to check. They have have the trilogy for $30USD
it is worth pointing out that Rytlock isn’t a light armour wearer though.
Maybe his profession is changing to Necro?Noo, he should become a Mesmer.
Charr Mesmer is the best.
But he just entered the Mist’s and has been fooling around with ghosts. Necro at least is a plausible leap from that
Yes there are other parts that aren’t part of the main set you use. And yes they only drop from the underground bosses.
This is not a mac issue – it’s just a general game issue. You’re best off filing a support ticket and maybe posting a bug report. But I would make sure you actually HAVE completed every single part of that map.
There are a lot of White Mantle references around the map
It’s sort of hinted that they are underground, and I’m thinking that’s what the random vents with wooden grating on them are for.
Yeah, in fantasy literature and games arcana is usually synonymous with magic (non-elemental magic). Which is why the elementalist has an Arcana trait line. So yes, the latin roots make the word redundant in real world context – but in fantasy it has a slightly different meaning (one that is derived from the actual meaning of course, but it nonetheless used differently).
Taimi fixed the WP’s in the previous LS release I thought?
It’s easier if you do this one with a friend. One person can lure him away from the vortexes and then the other just concentrates on getting the buff on all the vortexes – then you just lure him back into the middle and each of you kills half of the vortexes each.
Be careful, the achievement is (as me and my friends found out yesterday) tracked per each person separately. You (personal you, not general one) need to cause 75% of the boss damage for it to count, so only one person can get it at a time. If two people are doing it and kill the vortexes equally, neither will get it.
That’s definitely not true. I did this with a guild member. I held the boss back while he put the boon on the vortexes. Then we both killed them and both got the achievement credit…
it is worth pointing out that Rytlock isn’t a light armour wearer though.
Maybe his profession is changing to Necro?
The Chinese version of the game is an entirely separate thing. You cannot log on to the chinese version through the NA/EU client, and you can’t log on to the NA/EU client through the chinese version.
The second I saw the announcement for this item on the GW2 website that was immediate thought. Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to insert an item that has repetitive phrases that people don’t really have a way of escaping.
I’m not turning the dialogue slider down, I love the in game dialogue, it’s too quiet as it is and I want to be able to hear what NPC’s are saying. I don’t want to be forced to hear some stupid backpack talking.
NCSoft had also had reports of an expansion slated for 2014. That turned out to be their marketing spin on Living Story Season 1. You can’t really use NCSoft’s report as firm evidence, it’s slanted towards presenting their company and financial projections in the best possible light.
I definitely agree that an expansion is coming – but that doesn’t mean any time soon. 2015 might be a good guess, but it could very easily be the end of 2015.
This picture doesn’t point towards an expansion at all. It’s the teaser image for the next chapter of the living story, and a blindfold could mean numerous things.
It’s easier if you do this one with a friend. One person can lure him away from the vortexes and then the other just concentrates on getting the buff on all the vortexes – then you just lure him back into the middle and each of you kills half of the vortexes each.
Yeah but they had to change their course of action because Mordremoth presents an immediate threat. Kralk is on hold for now. You don’t open two new maps in the Maguuma, drop a ton of lore about a previously unheard of dragon, present said dragon as an immediate threat, and then just hop on over to the Crystal Desert instead…
The Zephyrites exist for the purpose of protecting Glint’s magic, not acting as scouts and detectives on possible Elder Dragon risings. I don’t see how it is the master of peace’s job to check out possible dragon roars. His job is to protect Glint’s legacy – that’s it. Also I don’t see why he would be aware of Moredremoth’s existence? Or why he would know Mordremoth’s final resting place, given that knowledge of Mordremoth was not common knowledge and nobody is alive now who was alive during the last dragon rise.
Abaddon is dead. His will was completely broken and all of his power was absorbed by Kormir. So that’s a no no.
We can only really make approximations on the ones we have seen – Zhaitan, Primordius, and Kralk. Primordius seems kind of on the smaller side (which might make sense if he has to travel around underground). I think Kralk is supposed to be quite big, indeed what we could see of him in GW1 was pretty huge, and my guess is that Zhaitain is just a bit smaller than Kralk?
The only in game model we have is Zhaitan, so until the other dragons have models in game we can’t really know for sure. (Though I think we did see Mordremoths model in the Pale Tree’s Vision, so maybe someone can mine that?)
Oh wow that’s brilliant, I didn’t notice that either! Thanks for bringing it up. That instance is just full of little surprises
They would have to be baby gargoyles xD. I do agree the animations are similar with the whole arms in the air waving around thing. They use the baby Charr models for them i think (which might actually just be shrunken down Charr models anyway).
It’s the same with every other living story release. Achievements are not unlocked until you have completed the chapter. Once you’ve completed the chapter you can go back and replay the missions in any order you want in order to complete the achievements.
I’m not sure the game has systems in place that would actually allow for the free flying around of an airship. Whenever you see an airship in the game at the moment it’s moving along a predetermined trajectory so they don’t have to worry about collision or movement mechanics or anything like that.
So yeah, it would be super cool if we had airships. But I don’t think it will happen.
Why should they care, if you paid for the game each it should be good
Because by having two games where the key inputs are the same players can abuse the loot system. It’s damaging for the game and is essentially botting.
Mordremoth doesn’t GIVE intelligence/mind, he has dominion over mind – as in he can corrupt/control the minds of living beings. The Dragons drain all magic from the world, if they managed to do so you wouldn’t be left with a planty/intelligent being filled world – you’d be left with either a barren wasteland or something overrun in jungle and mindless dragon minions. But then it’s also worth pointing out that the dragons don’t attack each other, balance is required (according to the latest living story lore) so they all need to exist, so it’s not like Mordremoth would win out and create a Tyria in his image. We have to take him on first because he is rapidly becoming more powerful, was woken over leylines, and because he is currently active while the other dragons don’t seem to be doing anything majorly damaging/different than before.
Maybe a dwarf, or the “Great Dwarf”?
It would make sense since the dwarfs were the predecessors, and therefore passed on their duty to the Zephyrites by handing down the egg.
On the same note, if Odgen believes we know who the voice was, maybe it was Odgen himself?
The Great Dwarf is kind of a metaphor. When the Dwarves all turned to stone to fight Primordius they became a collective with a hive mind – they are the Great Dwarf.
High texture setting requires the client to be running in 64bit. Cider runs in 32bit. So that’s not going to happen. Anyone who plays the game on a Windows 32bit install also lacks access to that setting.
I also think that Rytlock should not survive an encounter with one of the human gods, as a Charr. He is their declared enemy.
I don’t recall the gods ever saying that the Charr were their enemies? They certainly favoured humans, but that doesn’t mean other races are their enemies.
I kinda thought they’re names (like Distorted Facet of) was a good enough explanation.
Yeah I agree with you, the name says it all.
The new tracks are now on Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/arenanet/sets/guild-wars-2-living-world-season-2-episode-5
There’s not a lot you can do to improve the FPS you’re currently getting unfortunately.
The game is a cider port so it’s running in 32bit – which means it’s not making optimal usage of the CPU or the GPU, and then on top of that it can only utilise 4GB’s of RAM.
I would strongly suggest quitting any other applications, including smaller applications that might just be running in your menu bar. But other than that I don’t think there’s anything you can do to really improve performance. There is a config file where you can tweak how much vRAM the game recognises – but it doesn’t actually seem to have any impact.
The Tyria in the center of the diagram is the world or the continent? Cos what I don’t understand is that if we are talking about the world why are all 6 dragons so close to each other? We can now see the map of the world and is quite big, so why are they all around the continent of Tyria? If we talking about the continent only what does that mean? That the rest of the world does not have magic or that there are other 6 dragons circling around other continents? Or is there some other thing that I’m missing?
We’re talking about Tyria the planet. There may be some reason that the dragons are concentrated around Tyria the continent, perhaps because the presence of so many intelligent, magic based races caused them to come here during the last rise – better food to eat on. Or perhaps they had already destroyed the rest of the world and this was the last place they stopped over? (Or it just doesn’t make that much sense because it’s a video game and Arenanet doesn’t always seem to think things through super well)
