It looks more like a Seer to me. It is black and does not have wings.
That is unlikely to be the Ghostly Hero.
Yeah sure. It couldn’t be him. It’s just Saul with some memory problems.
To be fair it wasn’t Turai Ossa/The Ghostly Hero. Ogden was pretty clear that it was an Echo of him. It is not him, his ghost, his soul, or anything like that, it’s a magical reproduction of him/what happened during the Rite of Ascension.
Desperately reaching.
I’m not even reaching O_o. Not even a little bit. That is exactly what Ogden refers to him as, an “echo”. If it were actually Turai Ossa’s ghost or spirit then he would have said that and not that he is an “echo”.
Yeah mine was not very big at all. Somewhere between 300 and 500 MB.
It doesn’t have wings and it is black… I don’t know if it is a Seer or not, but I don’t think it’s a Mursaat.
It didn’t have wings though :S
Maybe she is/was a monk. ;-)
SPOILER BELOW
Also — what does it take, exactly, to kill a sylvari? Caithe stabbed her through the… what? Heartwood?
Any chance she could have faked her death? Can we be absolutely certain the memory seeds are infallible? Could the ‘memories’ have been altered, somehow, either via tampering with the memory seeds or with the locations?
Sylvari anatomy is based off human anatomy. So yeah, Sylvari have a heart. It’s just made out of plant matter. Wynne is dead.
That is unlikely to be the Ghostly Hero.

Called it. Nice cinematic.
No you didn’t. That was Forgotten architecture. Not Murssat… hate to burst your bubble :S
/deep sigh.
I personally think this was just another poor decision in storytelling in a long line of poor decisions. At this point I’m seriously questioning the ability of the writers to actually do anything that is actually unexpected, creative, or genuinely interesting. I’m not stark raving furious or anything like that, but deciding to do this with the Sylvari makes very little sense story wise. It seems like it was done purely for shock value. There were a lot of far more interesting routes they could have gone with this…
Oh well.
(Can we stop the hating on people who have been “proven wrong”. That’s not how this works. Konig is disappointed (and rightly so) that they’ve gone in such a ridiculous direction with the story that doesn’t make much logical sense. It’s not because he’s been proven wrong, he’s not that petty and anyone running around enjoying his reaction or calling him out for it is being a right kitten.)

It will just be reused appearance models and dialogue options. If it doesn’t use his name it is not him. There are plenty of NPC’s with the same appearances and/or dialogue.
Nope nope nope.
GW2 is designed for horizontal, nor vertical progression. There is already enough vertical progression. There is already ascended and legendary gear. Raising the level cap makes no sense and adds absolutely nothing to the game. The way forward is simply to add more content for players to play, the level cap doesn’t need to go up for that. The scaling system makes levels a little redundant anyway.
GW2 is horizontal in the same way that GW1 was. GW1’s level cap was never increased, it wouldn’t make sense to do it for GW2.
GW2 is not about to release a class called Dark Knight when a certain other triple A MMO is about to do the exact same thing (and has far more reason to given that it is a class name with a rooted history in their franchise).
Try again
Also keep in mind that your Sylvari is a new born and anything they know they have learnt from the dream. you could chalk it down to them having heard the phrase before and not really understanding that it doesn’t quite apply. But I think Zaxares is right.
The episodes/the whole of season 2 stays in game forever. It is permanent content.
Black on white contrast is the easiest for the human eye to read, that’s why word processors use black text on white backgrounds, this is why we print on white paper. White text on a black background is horrific.
Wait until the next patch, the 13th I think, after that everyone will return to the Silverwastes to grind for the next armour pieces/any they still needed, and to do the new story release.
Open the Hero panel. Click “Miniatures” There you have a comprehensive list of which miniatures you have and don’t have…
I like the turret builds as well. Are they good PVE dps and WvW?
Absolutely. PvE is actually a lot easier than PvP or WvW, you usually don’t have to worry quite as much about dps.
I’ve been playing a Turret Engineer in PvP and as long as you know what you are doing it really is an incredible build and can help your team out a LOT. It’s great at holding ground, super useful for skyhammer or the courtyard.
You don’t have to run kits to be effective, despite what the meta says.
Kimmes and Belinda both have blue ghosts.
I think most ghosts are blue, and certainly as far as I can see all human ghosts are blue.
If you’re getting crashes then they’re probably on your end. At the very least they’re not on Arenanet’s end (or there would be far more widespread reporting of them). Perhaps it is your internet connection, perhaps it is your ISP? Playing GW2 on a laptop is of course going to make it work hard, it’s the same with any game. Laptops aren’t really designed for gaming.
The bell choir bug can easily be solved by letting your die from the bug and then just starting with the next song.
Why would it work?
It was an antitoxin specifically created to counter the toxin of the Tower of Nightmares. There’s nothing to suggest any similarity between Mordremoth and the Tower of Nightmares, other than that they are both plants and that the Nightmare Court are a possible link.
GW1 had weapon dyes and it wasn’t too bad because the colours were reasonably controlled. I’m not sure it would work in GW2, and I’m quite sure it would be a mammoth task for them to go back and retroactively add it to every weapon. Not gunna happen.
I think there are distinct differences in the lore of how it all happened. That charr version (obviously) paints him as a crazy maniac, where if I remember correctly human history is a little more sympathetic. History is weird like that yo, we don’t really know because we’ll always have some biased views presented to us.
Personally I think he went loco.
Well we sort of have the advantage of having experienced part of that history first hand (anyone who played Prophecies anyway), so I certainly think we can say he went crazy with some sort of certainty xD.
I assume it’s for clipping reasons :S? there’s a pretty high chance your characters arms and legs would be going through the backpiece, especially the karka shell :P
they already failed at clipping mechanics XD that happens all the time
Oh absolutely. But I’m sure that’t still the reason xD.
I assume it’s for clipping reasons :S? there’s a pretty high chance your characters arms and legs would be going through the backpiece, especially the karka shell :P
…if you choose to read it that way then you’re going against what is actually supported textually.
And what, pray tell, in the entire text of Empire Divided doesn’t support my argument?
“At the time of this writing, the kingdom of Ascalon is recovering from the conflict with the Charr” recovering refers to returning to a normal state of health, it does not in any way imply that Ascalon had pushed back the Charr, had beaten the Charr, or anything of that like. It implies quite simply that they’re doing better than they were at the time of the Searing, which is not difficult. It’s also worth pointing out that the article is written by Loremaster Ermendred, who lived in Kryta during the events of Prophecies. If you’re recovering from a conflict then it doesn’t at all imply that you’ve solved the problem. It’s actually near synonymous to the idiom ‘to lick one’s wounds’ which means “to recover from a defeat or a rebuke.” We know that in the idiom’s case it is almost always in reference to the loser. Losers/victims can recover, it doesn’t mean they’ve made a massive comeback.
If you really want to argue it then sure I can’t say with absolutely certainty that the text disproves your argument, but it in no way supports it. What it does support is the idea that Ascalon is still a ruined kingdom, but is on the mend. It speaks from a specific point in history and everything that Prophecies set up was suggesting that this wasn’t something Ascalon was ever going to fully recover from, despite your insistence that it’s all because the writers changed and decided to take some radical new spin on the story.
I honestly want to believe that Countess Anise is secretly a Mursaat.
She’s been Jennah’s friend since they were both children, she heads the organisation that took down the Mursaat in the first place, and to our knowledge a Mursaat has never been able to change it’s shape/disguise itself as a human. So I think that’s a no xD.
Zhaitan is dead. Arenanet has confirmed it in interviews and in the hidden arcana library in the Priory they have a tendrils (or it may have been his tail) off of his corpse hanging from the roof… He’s dead 100%
Yeah, his tail.
Either way, dead or no, magic can retcon pretty much anything.
I do not see WHY he would not be dead though? GW2 has 5 other dragons to deal with, not like Zhaitan is The Mandarin or something.
simple. Zhaitan and cantha.
aka the affliction from gw1.
the 2 sync so well together it would make a great story
The two don’t sink together AT ALL. The afflicted were created by Shiro at the will of Abbadon, who was a fallen god. We also wiped all of the afflicted out in Winds of Change during GW1’s time.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a hylek with a pet
The Hylek of the Maguuma Wastes herd giant beetles, I think that should count. Also Grawl can be seen herding grubs in Fireheart Rise.
That’s probably closer to farming than having pets, though I guess we don’t know exactly what the Hylek use the beetles for. I can’t speak for everyone, but as someone who has livestock I do have a clear distinction in my head between pets (our cats, dogs, and horses) and livestock (cows).
I think regions would be too general, considering that is one of the ‘harder’ 2 achievements (each category has 2 ‘easier’ and 2 ‘harder’ achievements).
The better idea I’ve seen is that the map should be randomised for all players. So instead of everyone having Snowdon, some people have it, others have Wayfarers, other have Straits of Devastation, etc.
How is regions to general but splitting what maps you’re sending players to not too general? There are a lot of players, and each region only has 4 or 5 maps.
I don’t mind the map hopping, it makes sure that people visit locations they might not normally. But I can also see the benefits of making it so that one specific region can satisfy most of the dailies. You get everyone playing in a group of maps for a longer period of time doing multiple activities. And if it is done region wide there’s less issues if someone doesn’t have the whole map completed.
I agree, but a mod is gonna merge them. I just struggled with the Snowden Drifts one. A lot of people were complaining about not being to tag because the events ended so quickly. It’s a common complaint.
I camped the King Jalis’ Refuge jumping puzzle because a veteran spawns there every few minutes that you have to kill to get access to the chest, and it’s an event.
Which is great, but it kind of just proves the point. People should be encouraged to run around participating in events and helping out others, rather than forced to camp one event to avoid issues with tagging or zerg lag etc.
I want Season 3…. As an expansion that can be purchased outright and played through without interruptions.
One day Ascalon will be taken back and the glorious kingdom that once thrived there will be rebuilt.
It is only a matter of time.
I think you’re absolutely right. I just don’t think it will be a human kingdom ;P
On your second, it is somewhat a matter of literary interpretation. I could just as easily say “recovering from the war =/= recovering from the Searing”, they are not mutually inclusive. Or, alternatively, a woman “recovering from a pregnancy” isn’t in the middle of it…the pregnancy is over. Depends on how you read it, but more importantly, how it was intended.
This is why you can look into what else is being said in the whole text to discern it. Seems incredibly silly that Ascalon is reopening treaties and trade routes, sending out historians, and, in particularly, sending their heroes abroad if Ermenred meant they were still fighting when he used the term “recovering”.
Except that a linguist would tell you that there is no mutual entailment between the terms and therefore if you choose to read it that way then you’re going against what is actually supported textually. From a ‘literary’ (I’m not quite sure literary means what you think it means) perspective, Konig is absolutely right.
you should merge this into existing thread, or it will be done by moderator, or deleted.

Feedback and Suggestions exist separately from one another. This is a suggestion. If a mod decides that they should be merged then that’s fine, but until then.
Tl;dr: Daily event regions rather than daily event maps.
At the moment we are ending up with a large number of players concentrated in one map for the daily events. This isn’t working so well because it seems as though most non-meta events and events in any non-level 80 zones simply aren’t designed to scale up to such a large number of players. This can make it difficult to either tag for completion/participation, or to even manage to get to an event before it ends.
My suggestion is pretty simple: instead of having a specific map for daily event completion, could we instead change it to a specific region for event completion. e.g. Maguuman event completer, Shiverpeak event completer, etc. There are still enough players doing the dailies throughout the day that the events in each map in the region would have a good number of players doing them. It would help spread the player population out across maps. The game would appear more populated which is great for newer players going through areas. It just seems like it would make more sense given that this is how the Daily Gathering also works.
Also, maybe Anise is really Lys or Ilya in disguise! Wouldn’t THAT be a bombshell.
I think one of the gods in disguise would have drawn the dragons by now as that would be an awful lot of magic on Tyria that isn’t meant to be there naturally. The gods are gone, it isn’t safe for them here.
Gaile, is there a reason why you guys can’t just prevent people from writing “Arenanet” in the subject line of in game mail? It seems like that would at least force scammers to write something else, which would in turn stop some slightly more unsuspecting people from accidentally believing the mail to be true.
@Morte. Freeplay does not satisfy the daily. At least it never has for me.
@Ardenwolfe. The bells that you can use in the open world are a common drop, so anyone who wants to practice specific songs can do it outside of the instance. There’s not really any need for the freeplay in there.
I’m not sure that what Ardenwolfe says is correct.
There is no way to add keys to an existing account and therefore the only way to upgrade is through the gem store.
This is the part that may be of interest:
4.)If it doesn’t work, you can try to delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: this step is a general fix for many tp and graphics issues, even without the previous steps however, it will lose all saved log in/password and in-game settings.
To access this:
1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program in the finder menu bar.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the finder menu bar. A drop-down will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” drop-down.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Application Support > Guild Wars 2
5 Move the entire Guild Wars 2 folder to the trash and then empty the trash.
The next time you launch Guild Wars 2 it will recreate the recently deleted folder.
Yes please. It is incredibly frustrating and it doesn’t add anything to the gameplay. Very few people ever actually use that time to play their own piece. It’s a waste of time and it seems far too common to be ported into an instance that has entered free play only have to reload the entire instance when that’s done…
Have you tried following the instructions in the sticky post on how to delete the GW2 folder inside Application Support?
Inculpatus is probably right. The skill is probably set to autoattack. If there are little arrows over the icon then this is the case. Simple change auto attack back to skill 1 by right clicking skill 1’s icon.
I doubt you need to do a repair. A corrupted file shouldn’t have any impact on what happens server side.
If it isn’t set to autoattack and is still doing it, try binding that skill to a completely different key or trying a different keyboard. The button may be stuck? Or it may already be bound to something you didn’t realise it was bound to.
None of GW1’s dinosaurs looked like “real” dinosaurs sans the raptors (for what passes as our knowledge of dinosaurs). Compared to GW1’s ‘dinosaurs’ then yeah, that image does look like such – particularly the angorodon.
Perhaps if players did not name them dinosaurs (I’m fairly sure that Anet never officially used the word), but instead called them, idk, “large reptilian monsters” you’d feel less insulted over the so-called ‘mutant dinosaurs’?
Nicholas the Traveler directly calls them “dinosaurs”, and they dropped Saurian Bones. Sooo, pretty sure they’re dinosaurs. I don’t think there’s any issue with them not being completely true to real world dinosaurs though anyway (I’m sure it’s the same for you). There are very few things that GW2 gets right. The Moa in GW1 and 2, for example, don’t look very close to what real world Moa looked like (real life Moa were usually taller, a dull brown, had longer necks and thicker bodies, etc.) – and yet you don’t see people complaining.
Can I Strongly urge you to remove your email address from that picture. You don’t want that to be so public!!
What are your mac’s specs?
Well I do know that if I was loosing a war, I would at least make sure my enemy can’t win either. If I can’t have my nation, then the enemy can’t either.
Of course Ascalon was originally charr land but from his perspective, that’s what I’d probably do.
Really. If you were in charge of an entire nation and you knew you could not win the war would you subject your people to death/permanent undeath instead of fleeing just so that your enemy didn’t ‘win’.
If you’re dead you can’t use the land. What does it matter if the enemy gains it if the cost of preventing them from doing so is killing every single person who looked to you to protect and guide them.
That is horrific.
If I was in his shoes I probably would yes. If we are going to die anyway, then I might as well take my enemy with me.
And most importantly, this gave the last of my people, the people of ebonhawke, a fighting change. The charr would have lost a large part of their army and gained a new enemy (the ghosts of ascalon). This could have given Ebonhawke some relief necessary to dig in and hold out.
I wouldn’t have liked killing my own people but this is the ruthless calculus and hard reality of war. A number of people die here (people who were going to die anyway in this case) so a number of people somewhere else can live.
I would have seen it as an honorable sacrifice to give the last of my people a fighting chance to live. At least that would have been mine reasoning. Adelbern probably just did it out of spite and anger.
The lives of the people in a kingdom are not their kings to sacrifice. There’s no way of looking at this where Adelburn isn’t a bad guy. He could have encouraged his people to flee, he could have led them somewhere safer. He could have asked for help from the Krytans like Rurik wanted him to. Instead he decides to stay behind, keep his people behind under the false hope that they had a chance of winning. And then kill his own people. Their lives weren’t his to bargain with. It’s not an honourable sacrifice. It’s murder.
