I don’t >.>
I think the voice in the trailer is cheesy.
The transformation is determined by the map in which she is located. I’m still yet to get Jackalope, followed her for quite a while before I eventually killed her. Couldn’t open the achievement panel to check if it was indeed the achievement I still needed…
PixelPumpkin is right.
I have all of the Skritt Burglar achievements except for 1. I found her the other day in the one I needed for the achievement and followed her around. My skill 1 hits were taking off maybe 1/6th of her health (level 80 ele.. not even zerker). She died before she transformed me, and I tried really hard to not hit her ever.
All three of the orders have been helping out in LA get citizens out and defending areas.
But as you said, the B-Iconics have been the ones tackling Scarlet the most the past year (other than ourselves), so it makes the most sense that they’re part of promotional images. Plus, for an image like that, having actual recognizable characters’ hands there is more interesting than having ‘generic Priory member one’’s hands there. You recognize those hands instantly.
Those are just a couple of members of the orders though. We haven’t seen anyone higher up and we haven’t had any word from the heads of the orders. They’re also only trying to get the citizens out, they haven’t been seen trying to stop Scarlet or fight her.
How do I complete "A Fragile Peace" now?

In Gendarren fields go to Icegate Gorge and talk to Captain Smash and Bouncer Kinna, they can let you into LA to do personal story steps.
Just to start teasing players, they should make a tengu one of the biconics, with slightly improved animations (maybe even the same animations as charr, like how human and sylvari share all but dancing – and then give him a unique dance), but the playable race… never… comes…
Sylvari and Humans actually have different ambient animations as well.
The way it’s presented in game is that Norn develop darker skin tones when they leave the Shiverpeaks (and possibly just some of them). So I’d guess that their skin just darkens very easily in the sun.
Another possibility: Animals often change their coats during different seasons to cope better with the weather. It’s possible that a Norn spending a lot of time in a hot climate will notice their skin darkening in order to cope better with the sun and offer better UVA/UVB/burnt skin protection. – Personally I like this explanation because it’s at least partially scientific and given the Norn’s close relationship to animals I like the idea that they would have evolved with those kinds of adaptive capabilities.
Dead is dead. So maybe the humans did not eat Charr (do you have evidence that supports that Charr ate humans though), but they still killed them. Eating generally happens after murdering, and if not then it’s simply another way of murdering – are you trying to argue that it is worse than slaughtering with swords and magic? Besides they aren’t the same race, humans eat all kinds of animals (personally I think that it’s horrific but this isn’t the place to get into it).
The Charr in game are not different from their background infromation. You’re forgetting one crucial fact – the dragons. The Charr would still be warring against the humans if the dragons hadn’t come along. But the threat of the Branded on Charr lands and the threat that all of the dragons pose to every single race of Tyria has necessitated alliances. Throughout the game the human-charr alliance is presented as uneasy, you only have to listen to ambient dialogue in the Ascalon area or talk to the Charr around Ebonhawke to realise that a lot of them are not that happy about it.
I think for me I want the gameplay to be decent enough to support my interest in the lore/game world. I’m willing to overlook a flaw in gameplay before I’m willing to overlook a flaw in story (or badly written story, or a poorly constructed world etc.) This may sound bizarre, but graphics and story kind of win over gameplay for me. But GW2 has great gameplay and I enjoy it immensely.
Then your pillow gets soggy, which is not at all pleasant to sleep on.
That’s still yet to be revealed. I think it’s more likely to do with Zhaitan’s death than leylines.
You’re probably right, I’ll just go cry in a corner or something and mourn the absence of the Tengu.
The Krait or the Quaggan? Because if you mean the Quaggan will be around for a long time then may I propose a joyous new seasonal event. We could call it “The annual Quaggan hunt”, and players could hunt the Quaggan to extinction. It would be glorious. Imagine the story possibilities Angel! This is exactly the kind of thing you need in order to convert the Krait into allies.
Are you sure? All other Asura have hands the same colour as their skin (and none of them have yellow skin, including Taimi). To my knowledge Tengu also have 4 digits. But I fully accept that it could just be Taimi, I noticed the bow as well.
A Sylvari’s physical appearance is sort of like an indicator of their internal personality. As was pointed out above, Canach’s appearance changed considerably (dev stated “his change in appearance is almost entirely due to the hardships he’s endured since he escaped Lionguard custody”). A Sylvari who turns to nightmare can also undergo a change in appearance.
I think the best way to think about it is as if they were literally plants, a plants appearance is affected by it’s surroundings. Nourish it and it will bloom beautiful, neglect it and it will wither.
As to the NPC in Caledon who changed their appearance, it’s possible that those changes were more of a disguise that had been put on over the top, rather than actually changing themselves to look like a Nightmare Courtier out of share will. – I say that because there is a heart quest in Caledon where our character is disguised as a Courtier in order to infiltrate one of their camps and mess around with things – so it’s probably more akin to a real world disguise, or perhaps a magically constructed disguise (e.g. mesmer illusion).
This image was posted on the official GW2 facebook page – and I was kind of curious about it.
Obviously it’s an out of game image so we can’t necessarily take it as factual or representative of the game. But there was something that struck me about it:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/arenanet/12841676423/in/photostream/
On the top left corner of the image there is clearly what looks like a birds claw, which makes me wonder if the Tengu (oh my god I just said Tengu lets all scream) are going to be involved in the next update in a more positive light? If we go clockwise from the top it looks like Marjory’s hands, then Rox’s, Kasmeer’s and Brahams. But the claw is definitely throwing me off. Unless it’s Taimi and for some reason Asura have chicken claws – but I feel like I would have noticed… So yeah, just thought I’d point it out for anyone who doesn’t use facebook.
You won’t find people still posting about GW1 there though. Yes there are some recent posts, but hardly any.
Yes, they are absolutely identical and you can copy them backwards and forward between OSX and Windows.
If you have it installed via bootcamp you can actually just open up the Windows folder on your OSX desktop and locate the .dat and drag it across.
The OSX .dat is accessed by opening applications, right clicking GW2 then selecting “Show contents” – it’s in one of the folders in there.
That being said, when people toss around the gay agenda I am shocked about how none of them mention Sieran, I can’t be the only one who picked up on subtle hints she had a thing for the player character, regardless of gender.
You’r absolutely right and it creeped my out so so much. My Sylvari felt personally victimised by Sieran’s strong advancements. He did not reciprocate her feelings and she did not stop. It was horrible. I was happy when she died (not actually, despite her overt attachment to my Sylvari I still appreciated her character and the depth of emotion that had gone into her character), I feel bad about that, but it’s true.
Trahearne at least continually refers to Zhaitan as an it. So that’s something.
I agree with you Aaron. I’m sure they could pull it off if they tried really hard, but it’s just going to work out much better if the dragons don’t speak. I don’t imagine they would have anything to say to us anyway.
I would love play eu server but the lag makes it unplayable sadly….
Where do you live?
Oh, but they don’t have voices? We don’t even know if they have the capacity to speak – they are dragons after all. (Yes Glint and Kuunavang could both speak (also both female))
Will gw china have a English client ? And I would love to know if I can transfer to a Chinese server. I played wow in china and it was possible to play the game in English there but it was a little complicated to do so.
I don’t imagine the client will be in English as well – mostly because anyone who wants to play the game in English should really be playing on the NA or EU servers.
That is the most adorable thing ever.
Ree and Colin are so cute, I love them.
I really hope they bring this thing over to the US/EU website.
Yup the node was from the meta achievement for the Bazaar of the Four Winds living story event.
It’s sort of implied that the Bazaar will be returning yearly, so it’s a definite possibility that the node will be attainable in the future – if it isn’t then celestial gear becomes a little too unattainable for new players which is not cool/
Just to clarify though, the achievement and node were earned in a new map called Labyrinthine Cliffs which was only accessible for a short time.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Labyrinthine_Cliffs
I think it’s worth pointing out that this post was originally put in the GW2 Discussion forum and then moved to the lore forum – I can’t imagine someone in the lore forum starting this thread because well yeah….
The dragons do not have genders (as far as we know). They are always refered to in game as ‘it’ or ‘the dragon’ – never as ‘he’ or ‘him’ or any other gendered term. Their names don’t really indicate a gender either, the words might have masculine roots in our world, but that doesn’t necessarily apply to Tyria. There’s also the question of whether they named themselves or were named by others. Jormag is referred to as male by the Sons of Svanir – but they’re an all male group who hate Jora because she was a woman and was able to defeat her brother Svanir – Jormag wouldn’t be likely to contradict them because as long as they’re following he/she/it then he/she/it doesn’t really care.
The one exception may be Kralkatorrik – I think Glint may use a gendered pronoun in Edge of Destiny, but I’m not 100% certain on that and it could easily be an oversight.
It seems as though they all end up being referred to as male by default – but that is frequently the case with un-gendered things because people are weird like that. I mean, I can’t count the number of times people just assume my dogs and cats are all male…. (they’re not)
(edited by FlamingFoxx.1305)
But The ghost of Turai Ossa wouldn’t fight alongside Palawa Joko…
Also Turai Ossa’s soul was trapped in the Crystal Desert, so not really Joko’s domain and sort of part of Tyria rather than of Elona.
can someone confirm whether we can or cannot farm rubble & buy the halo potion after the tuesday patch?
Nobody can. We don’t know exactly what will happen in the next patch, we don’t know if Lions Arch will still be accessible in it’s current state – but I strongly suspect that it will, in which case you would be able to farm them still.
I fail to see how a reanimated Koss = win… I hate Koss. Why not reanimate Varesh Ossa or something ridiculous? I wonder if Margonites can be reanimated? I mean they weren’t really fleshy beings anymore, but who knows?
Also, why in the world does the camera spin 180 degrees or even a full circle when I am revived, rally, or revive someone else sometimes!?! This is so frustrating and I can’t count the number of times this ‘camera spin’ glitch/whatever has caused me to turn in a circle and run/dodge directly into a huge aoe/boss attack. It is incredibly frustrating as generally things are a kittenaotic as it is when you’re trying to rally/revive in the middle of a fight.
I don’t have that issue :S. Maybe try changing the rotation sensitivity in the games settings? I wonder if it’s reverting to the camera view from before you died – and that you’re spun the camera around a couple of times while dead?
(I do remember having this issue in GW1 though, the camera doing a full 360 degree rotation every time I was resurrected at a shrine – so I understand exactly how frustrating it is)
The new update comes out on the 4th of March, and there’s always the possibility of heirlooms still being attainable during that patch.
But yeah, dulfy.net has a guide on where the rubble piles are located, each one can only be done once per day, so you can get 30ish heirlooms per day from that, and then as Suserihime pointed out the citizens rescue bags also give out heirlooms.
- As far as I know those are the only two ways to get them, so I’d suggest that you spend one run a day getting the heirlooms from the rubble, and then play through a couple of times while concentrating on rescuing citizens. If you’re not in a heavily populated server then guest to another one so that you can get more rescue bags.
You’re absolutely right. GW1 handled this really well when they released the Bonus Mission Pack – which let players take part in historical events AS characters from history. If GW2 were to release something similar I imagine it would be really well received. They’ve tried to do it to an extent with the fractals, but the fractals are not a good storytelling medium, they’re also hardcore content that a lot of players just don’t really want to play.
>Tyria attacks Elona
>Both sides lose troops
> Palawa Joko uses GW1 Aura of the Lich
>Palawa Joko wins
>>Devs nerf Necro’s
>>Palawa Joko’s power is severely stunted
>>Tyria wins
I’ll give you an upvote on this because it’s definitely one of the issues with the camera and that person on reddit did a great job of breaking the issue down.
Lions Arch is not allied with the Centaurs. Where on earth did you get that idea O_o.
Also the second part isn’t really true.
Hylek for example are a problem only seen in the Maguuma – none of the races other than the Asura or Sylvari need to fight them. The Ghosts of Ascalon are strictly a Charr problem. – Yes the other races still fight these enemies in game, but they also fight the Centaurs in the same way…
Necro and engi minions don’t last forever? They take damage and die.
Engineer turrets die extremely quickly if enemies target them.
I will admit, necro minions are extremely durable.
Why does this post have a dev red icon when there are no dev responses
Hello all,
We absolutely do not allow posts with rumors of unreleased/unannounced game content and it is a very serious violation of our forum Code of Conduct. Posts as such tend to cause overly strong inflammatory and emotional responses, and derail easily.
Please report any violations of our Code of Conduct so we can take appropriate action.
Clearly, you are all allowed and encouraged to speculate and discuss your thoughts, so please continue! Thanks for your understanding.
Hi Danicia. Sorry but I am a bit confused about your post.
You said we can’t talk about rumours of unreleased content.
Then you said we are free to speculate about future content.Isn’t them essentially the same thing?
There’s a difference between speculating using facts that are presented in game, or simply what people want to see – and speculating on content that has been gained from suspicious sources and then claimed to be “official”. I imagine there was a post that was deleted that fit such a category and Danica was simply warning anyone else against doing the same.
Reposting in 3, 2, 1… My question is, could norns and asura mate? In general, could other races mate with each other? What if the skritt are actually the holy union of a charr and an asura? If Rox and Braham mate, would they produce a kodan? What about a human and a sylvari, would it produce a burrito?
I’ll take your post seriously.
Yes, members of any of the GW2 races can (and do) mate with each other, but the devs have stated that such unions would never result in children.
They aren’t races they are species, races are factions of the same species. Of course any 2 species can have sex but only things of the same species (or 2 very early on in an evolutionary split) can have sex lead to offspring.
Actually the use of the word race in separating humans, Sylvari, norn etc. is correct. The scientific definition of race refers to the separation of species as they are distinct from one another, e.g. the human race, the race of tigers etc. Species is of course also correct and ideally would be used since it’s a more definite term – but race is also correct. The way the word race is commonly used in society however, as a distinguisher between ethnicities or physical differences in humans, is incorrect.
I’ve always wondered if putting the computer inside a mini fridge would be a good idea, then I found out that computers have optimum temperatures they need to run at. Like: too cold could slow it down. it would especially affect disc drives, and probably also HDD’s
A fridge no, but ideally the room you run the computer in should be air-conditioned, hence why high school/university computer rooms always have the air-conditioning on and are a little chilly. The computer should run at a certain temperature, but having the air around it cooled will help it stay at a constant temperature.
Someone does appear to have done it:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rytlock_Brimstone/dialogue
As the others above have pointed out, all of your character related data is saved on Arenanets servers, not on your computer.
You should however locate the GW2.exe and GW2.dat (that .dat is around 20GB) and copy them somewhere safe so that you don’t have to reinstall the game!
How does the clearing of waves work?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

^— That would possibly account for how bizzarely it works in EfLA
I’m all for equality. Neither type of relationship should receive prominence over the other. That being said we have gender considerations to make to. Female x Female relationships are not the same as Male x Male relationships – of which there is only really one in the game. I think most of the issues facing the lack, or percieved lack, of hetero relationships in game comes from the way Jory and Kasmeer’s relationship has been handled. Don’t get me wrong, I love them both – but their relationship has ended up eclipsing the plot somewhat and drawing away from actual story developing.
How does the clearing of waves work?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: FlamingFoxx.1305
Each group of enemies is part of a wave, so whilst there might be multiple waves on screen at one time (hence why it seems as though they just keep spawning), each enemy belongs specifically to a certain wave. So you could theoretically end up with two enemies left and 2 waves left, and then killing each of them would put the remaining wave count down to 1 and then to 0.
- To my understand that is how it works in regular events. With EfLA I’m not so certain, since you can reduce the counter to 0 waves even with enemies still on screen. But I think that the scaling might be mucking up how it works there?
It can’t be the heart of the mists.
PvP and PvE have slightly different skill/trait/attribute systems in place which would mean that no PvE players could edit their builds inside the supposed hub… It just doesnt make sense.
Also most PvE or WvW players don’t want to be shuffled/routed through the Heart of the Mists constantly. it just doesn’t fit…
The FoV has actually been edited once – back in 2012 around the first Halloween.
I think one of the big issues is that all races share the exact same camera position as one another, so the FoV has to work for all of them. But I agree a slider might be a good idea…
Oh, I thought you were just arbitrarily listing big things that live underground. My bad
