Too slow auction house

There are a lot of purchases going on at once, the trading post has to check that the price it has shown you for an item is still available – as in someone else hasn’t purchased all of the item at the quantity and price you were shown. So yeah it takes a second for the transaction to go through, but it’s really not a bit deal. You are literally complaining about something that takes two seconds being slow >.>

What are the chances of us getting Cantha now that GW2 is in China?
As far as I know they find "everything’ slightly “Asian themed” offensive and inappropriate. Remember Pandas in WoW?

GW1 released factions even though the game was available in a lot of asian countries. Panda’s were originally a charmable pet but had to be removed due because of cultural issues, but apart from that there weren’t any problems.

Well yes they most likely wont release anything until China is fully launched, but that’s not far off since they’re in open/paid beta now.

As to how they will manage the story releases – we don’t know yet.

Also we don’t know the preorder sales numbers for US/NA.

Check that you’re not trying to put it on a FAT32 USB, since the file is far larger than 4GB and you therefore can’t…

Best work around – open your applications folder, right click Guild Wars 2 then click ‘Show Package Contents’. Somewhere inside one of the folders that should open up is GW2.dat, it’s a 20ish GB file. Just copy that instead – it contains the whole game.

I would assume that resurrection only really works for mortal wounds. It doesn’t stop you from ageing and one would assume that dying of old age/natural causes would be pretty final. I don’t think a person could just be infinitely resurrected beyond normal life expectancy, at least not without it being very noticeable appearance wise.

I play on the US servers, SoS, and haven’t had any gold sellers PM me since a few months after launch, and I very very rarely see them in map chat.

Also NonToxic, the fact that the game has been released in China means absolutely nothing for us. They’re playing on completely separate servers and can’t access ours. They are separated from us more than NA and EU are separated from one another. So we don’t really have anything to worry about…

I paid just as much for this game as the PC users did and I got a broken client that crashes constantly, is full of graphical bugs/glitches, has a TRASH trading post, and is just all-over bad. If we’re going to play a terribly broken game, we should get one hell of a discount.

You paid for an account – which is a pretty crucial distinction. Yes you paid for access to the game, but that doesn’t guarantee performance. Someone with a very sub-par windows computer could easily buy the game and have a not so great experience, or not even be able to play the game. Even more important is the fact that you paid for an account with the intention of accessing a client that is in beta.

Yes it sucks, yes they should pay a lot more attention to the OS X client. But people do need to be a little more reasonable about it, both players and Anet.

Sounds pretty interesting to be honest. I’d play it. Issue is, if we need another profession, it’s a Heavy Armor profession, not a Light Armor profession.

Hm, Monk would be the next profession and I’m sure it’s already there to launch, but not announced yet. But aside from Monk the Enchanter should be there too^^

The monk isn’t going to be put in game… Arenanet has been adamant from the start about NOT having a healing class in game, that’s why the monk was excluded in the first place. The entire game is designed around NOT having dedicated healers, throwing one in at this point would be game breaking.

So nope, no monk… Ever.

And I agree with LumAnth, what you’ve described sounds an awful lot like a Mesmer.

Why would some one recommend Crossover when the question clearly said that low game speed was an issue? Crossover is slower than the A-Net Mac client. I run the game in Crossover when I need to reliably use the Trading Post, but never to actually play.

Depends on your system. I run some things on crossover and have no speed issues. Both of them run on wrappers and crossover provides a 30 day free trial, how dare i suggest something that is completely free to try and that the OP would loose nothing by trying.

But the point is that Crossover running on a Macbook Air, which is what the OP has, is not going to give you very good speeds. OP talks about having had a gaming PC which got around 80FPS, a MBA is never going to get over 30 (which is optimistic) even on bootcamp, let alone using crossover.

Yes Crossover is a viable solution for some people, but not if someones main concern is speed – just remember that your definition of “no speed issues” is different to other peoples – I mean, personally I’m with you, if I had to run the game at 15FPS then I could live with that.

I have a decent MBP and in bootcamp I get around 30-40FPS, they want like proper gaming PC speeds… MBA is going to be far far less than desirable.

Considering the lack of a proper romance between Logan and Jennah I don’t think we’re going to see a wedding any time soon. The security of the kingdom is probably a little more important to the Ministry than the security of the royal blood line.

LS Season 2 Preview!

in Living World

FlamingFoxx.1305

The problem with your theory is that all of this has been in game since launch.
So yes a lot of it has been placed there because it, like a lot of other areas/things in game, opens up the possibility of later story-lines – but that’s all it is, a possibility. There is nothing to indicate that they would be following up with any of this for the next Living Story season.

Also heart NPC’s don’t tend to be involved in anything other than their heart – for continuity reasons.

Also the alliance between inquest, bandits and NC in Brisban is highly unlikely to have any relationship with Scarlet and her alliances. Considering their supposed alliance has been mentioned in game since launch that places it on the timeline BEFORE Scarlet goes crazy etc etc. So no connection there.

Old map anomaly?

in Lore

Posted by: FlamingFoxx.1305

FlamingFoxx.1305

Im sure you have seen videos of other games where people go to unfinished areas or dev testing sites. Undoubtedly GW2 has such locations.

I wouldnt be surprised if there was even mechanics/special class hidden to us that allow the devs to use any skill or any weapons/armor in any combination. Such things are necessary for testing.

Except that there is absolutely no way you would be able to gain access to maps that you are not intended to.

Yes you can glitch into areas within maps that were unfinished, but the mechanics for travelling between maps and the way the server tells which map you are in mean that there is almost zero likelihood of you being able to port into some magical unfinished zone that you shouldn’t able to reach.

First of all, they wouldn’t put an unfinished zone in game – there’s no point, they would be testing it on their own servers, no reason to implement it onto the live servers.

Second, if it were on the liver servers there’d be a good chance someone would have found something in the .dat that at the very least HINTED at its existence.

Third, they’re not idiots….

Konig is absolutely right, if they had a map that they were going to release – they would have done so. I would assume they probably are working on new maps, but until they decide to release them they won’t be accessible in any way shape or form within the game. It’s common sense, they know that datminers have a tendency to jump on anything new – that’s part of the reason patches aren’t released until patch day.

Also the devs don’t need a special hidden class that allows that, if you’ve watched some the live streams they have the ability to mess with things on their own servers for testing purposes – e.g. removing cast times completely. But they do that kind of stuff on their OWN servers for testing, not on the live servers. An intelligent company is not going to put potentially game breaking things on live servers if they can avoid it. Testing servers exist for testing.

Snow Leopard was considered one of the bests, but Mountain Lion and Mavericks both have far superior performance. Yeah you might prefer expose to Mission Control (I know I do), but Snow Leopard drastically under-performs them and it is most certainly showing it’s age visually.

[Suggestion]Hero Panel UI

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

FlamingFoxx.1305

+1 to this.

The point of the Hero panel was to be able to quickly view ALL information.
In other games you often have to open up multiple windows to see your stats and your gear etc. Hero panel let you see all of this at once – and now you have to open the hero panel and then open the equipment panel… It’s silly.
It should at the very least default to Equipment view.

Forced Mac OS update with todays patch?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: FlamingFoxx.1305

FlamingFoxx.1305

Lion has been the minimum spec for GW2 from the beginning.
Yes you may have been able to run it on Snow Leopard, but to ensure they provide the best service they can’t necessarily keep it running on Snow Leopard, and having people running it on an unsupported OS makes it difficult for them to work out legitimate issues.

If you have software that requires Snow Leopard to run you can always dual boot Mavericks (or any other version of OS X) and Snow Leopard. You can partition the drive in much the same way you do to install windows and then swap between Mavericks and Snow Leopard depending on what you need to run.

It may not be ideal – but it’s sort of your own problem, not Arenanet’s since they have not supported Snow Leopard (and nor does Apple support it anymore)

FlamingFoxx.1305

We sort of had this in GW1 – if you started dancing or playing an instrument your heroes/henchmen would join in. But for GW2 I don’t see how this would work, how would the NPC’s choose which PC actions to respond to? What’s to stop people from just standing there making NPC’s cheer? etc.

Guild Wars 2 Game Engine for everyone

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FlamingFoxx.1305

FlamingFoxx.1305

Why? They would hardly be willing to sell a proprietary engine to indie developers because it’s worth more to them than that, and they would struggle to sell it to AAA MMO developers who would be more likely to go with an established engine such as Unreal. Not to mention Arenanet is owned by NCSoft who would be unlikely to let them make their engine available for use beyond an NCSoft owned game…

On capping Achievement points: Don't.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The point of the cap is to stop people from just farming dailies for achievement points – they want people to play the rest of the content first. Your life isn’t going to end because you can’t do dailies over and over again to unlock an achievement chest.

I trust them, so…just wait for the update coming in the next days.

The issue isn’t whether or not they’re still working on it.
The issue is that they haven’t said anything about it. If you say, ‘we will have an update for you later this week’, then people are going to expect it. If you’re still working on it by that time then you need to tell people, otherwise it looks like you’re just ignoring them.

Megaserver and Lore?

in Lore

Posted by: FlamingFoxx.1305

FlamingFoxx.1305

The megaserver functions basically like a permanent overflow – one that is aware of certain aspects of player data. That’s all it does, decides which overflow to place you in (everything is effectively an overflow now). It doesn’t have any impact on how story is delivered because you are still playing in instanced channels/shard/maps/whatever you want to call them with other people. If Anet wants to do something like the Cleansing of Orr they will, but the megaserver does not impact how that kind of content would be delivered in the slightest.

It’s like a queen bee, she just lays around all day laying eggs (in the case of EDs corrupting) and getting fed while the workers bees (the corrupted) do all the work.

They’re described as forces of nature by Tyrians – that’s not a scientific notion, it’s simply the way they’re choosing to cope/understand/deal with the dragons power. Pretty sure the dragons are quite intelligent.

Why would Anet employees following them make them seem legitimate? My first assumption would be that said employees are following the accounts because they find them humorous, not because they have something to do with them.
