It’s not a mechanic darkbattlemage – whether or not something damages players is always a conscious decision by Arenanet. The game can distinguish between NPC and player – if they didn’t want it to kill players then it wouldn’t. It’s intentional.
It ‘looks’ like an aetherblade ship because the aetherblades modified the pact airships…
So it’s more that the aetherships look like Ellen’s ship, rather than the other way around.
Miasma is a pretty general term – it doesn’t imply a link at all, as others have pointed out.
It isn’t Dessa labelling the portal though.
In the game world there is no floating yellow text that says “gateway to Lions Arch”
That text is purely there for the players and as such it should be corrected.
I think Konig is right.
If there had been something that large we would have heard about it or we would have seen it.
You don’t find phantom footprints wreaking destruction with no explanation.
Windu – they don’t consider us friend.
The Tengu are undecided at this point and it makes sense that they just want to keep everyone the kitten away from their wall.
Even us, who are by no means their enemies. It makes sense to keep us away from their wall, because it keeps Scarlet’s mobs away as well. If went to the wall ti would likely become a big target for Scarlet’s alliances.
Saint, that is North of Lions Arch – and we don’t exactly know how canon it is since there are replicas of that instance both in Elona and in Cantha – it’s quite possibly at least partially just a mechanic for getting us to EoTN.
I’m just grasping at straws here, but how big is Zommoros?
If he is the same size as every single other Djinn we’ve encountered in the GW universe then he is just a teeny tiny bit bigger than humans. Sort of Norn size I guess.
- But Djinn float in the air and don’t have feet.
What makes you think Scarlet’s things went anywhere NEAR Claw Island.
Her giant drill came from Lornar’s pass and she has extensive portal tech that can bring her minions in from wherever they are. It’s likely she just portaled everyone straight in to Lions Arch at the edges and assaulted inwards whilst flying her Drill in from the north east.
When you say the Rata Sum gate is active – do you mean you can go through it – or just that the sparkly purple animation plays. Because the animation can quite often be bugged and shows up when it shouldnt
Do you mean it is actively lowering, or just lowered?
Arenanet released the GW2 API’s, so it’s possible that you could do something like that – but they won’t do it themselves.
Whispers wouldn’t work though. You can’t whisper someone who is offline, and making an exception to that could prove problematic.
Maybe she is using energy from the leyline she is supposedly drilling into to open a portal into the mists or into her own mind or something wacky like that. Who knows.
ANet is an American company, they update on American times. It’s going to be late at night somewhere in the world regardless of when they deploy the patch. They didn’t blow anything, you’re just upset that ANet doesn’t cater to overseas when they work.
Blizzard is also an american company. BioWare too. Both companies deliver updates in an appropriate time for us from Europe.
Hell, ArenaNET even refuses to use UTC in their announcements
Murica
Seriously. Someone is always going to get the short end of the stick.
If Arenanet catered to both America and Europe then Oceania would get the stick.
The world is a big place, it’s also round, it spins, there are different time zones.
You are not at any disadvantage if you go to bed and play the next day.
This is REALLY annoying.
I like my inventory small, I think it looks rancid in the width that it enlarges to.
Obviously it isn’t game breaking… But still -_-
Oh absolutely.
But I think you have to question whether or not the Pact are going to lend a hand. They’re pretty focused on their dragon-bashing.
Obviously if the races were to truly band together in a real life scenario they would have been able to beat back their lesser foes by now (e.g. the Centaur’s, Dredge, Flame Legion etc.) but it’s a game so it’s not going to happen xD.
They don’t have them for Windows so I don’t imagine they would for OSX.
Also I get the feeling that notification centre and growl wouldn’t play nice with Cider.
Wait what. Seriously. Tailoring is nasty enough as it is. This is not cool, they really need to consider changing that.
Ohh, yeah that makes sense.
Hidden checklist within an achievement.

Pen and paper aren’t that helpful during chaotic zergs where it’s hard to really tell what’s going on.
Like Groonz said, it should really have been split into multiple achievements. I understand what they’re going for – but their systems don’t support it well.
Operate under the assumption that you only have 2 weeks.
The previous ones were available for 4 weeks because of the christmas break and presumably because Anet was busy sorting out the final two arcs and also getting ready for the China release.
There are two new POI’s in Lions Arch.
So those are probably the ones you’re missing.
Wait what. How does a new armour set in the gem store mean that it’s all about the gem store?
There is a whole update there, the second to last Scarlet update. Full of a ton of rewards.
Also most people absolutely HATE the zodiac armour. So I don’t imagine they’ll make a lot from it.
Why would people have saved them? That sounds counter-intuitive. It’s not like the rewards get better if you hold out.
But I do agree they need to be more vocal about when they are going to make items redundant.
Are you sure it isn’t the chest piece that changes them?

You can have the EXACT same experience that you had in LA in any of the Racial capitals. The have the exact same services – often more central to one another – and load quicker than LA. The only thing they do not have is the Mystic Toilet. But how often do you need to use that?
Testing period?
Why couldn’t that be referencing their interactions in the Aetherpath of Twilight Arbor?
SOME vertical progression is good. A game built entirely around it is bad.
They were constructed partially using technology from the Steam Creatures though – which might prove problematic.
It’s 390ish MB in total
- Yup, it’s like 394 or something. Just hit 100%.
What ever happened to cool LS rewards?

There is a back piece for this new LS.
It’s about blades or something. You make it by earning things from doing the events and achievements and can get it up to ascended quality.
You dont have to pay. The services are for free in the vigil keep. You can just pay for your own little instance with them. Why anyone would is beyond me – but I guess people do.

I mean like, alternatively you could just go to the Grove or Rata Sum where there are hardly any people to make the maps laggy and all the services are close together. But if you want to waste your money then go ahead xD.
You know you don’t miss out on anything by not getting in game the second the patch drops right?
In what way was GW1 grindy?
The end game achievements like vanquishing and cartography sure. But the game itself was not grindy at all – it was entirely story based and armour was very very easy to get.Armbrace of Truth.
That was completely optional content.
I never even touched that part of the game and I was no better or worse off than anyone else for it.I’m not seeing you specifying content.
I don’t get what you mean?
You want me to specify how the game didn’t have vertical progression?
The level cap was never raised from 20. The top tier armour stats were never raised – all new and elite/prestige armour was simply cosmetic – it did not provide any in game advantage over other players. Same with weapons – you could get max stat weapons from vendors or from regular drops.
Once you hit maximum achievement points there were never any more.
Everyone in PvP was at the exact same level with access to the exact same gear.
GW1 was a game with a short vertical progression curve. But once you hit level 20 progression was entirely horizontal.
As others have pointed out – opening the world map and mouse hovering the name of each map will tell you if you have completed that map.
Another way to do it – open up the Achievements panel and go into the explorer achievements. Each zone has an achievement, so look for the zone that doesnt have a complete achievement e.g. Orr, Kryta, Maguuma – this will let you know where abouts you need to be looking.
DOn’t forge to check each of the WvW maps.
Angel said in the recent Taimi themed live stream that she was named for an elderly friend of hers who died who was quite tiny.
So there you go.
Not so.
Ascalon was a dying nation after the events of the Searing, their population greatly reduced. Kryta wasn’t really thriving either – what with the undead hordes at their doorstep and then the losses from the War in Kryta. Not to mention that you have to remove the white mantle from their population since they became enemies.
The human population, whilst unverifiable, shouldn’t have been that high. Yes humanity breeds soldiers – but it isn’t a case of every man must fight. They still have a LOT of people who don’t fight. I would actually hazard a guess that their army is smaller than their non-fighting population – that is almost always the case with wars. The Centaurs are literally bred for war. They all fight – including the women. So since their army consists of the greater portion of their population it should outnumber Krytas army.
I don’t imagine the Norn would have jumped into the war – they are about individual achievement and overcoming ones own enemies -rather than someone elses enemies. The Centaur present no threat to the Norn. As for Asura, I’m not sure they’d be willing to help humanity either – they have never thought that highly of humans and certainly consider themselves the superior species. What’s it to them if humanity is wiped out by a bunch of dumb centaurs?

^— They said it would not start in Windows either though – so it seems like that isn’t the issue.
I get the feeling that the macs they test it on are top of the line Mac Pro’s that are connected directly to their servers or something – and thus result in no issues whatsoever being observable.
The gods came from somewhere in the mists, were not native to Tyria, had been on Tyria only as long as humanity (at least Tyrian humans, Canthans may have been around for longer), and appeared to have absolutely NO knowledge of the Dragons.
I DOUBT they would have built Arah on top of Zhaitan if they had known he was there and known what he was.
There is no direct relationship between the gods and the dragons.
spanish, danish, german and french all use English characters though.
It does because if a ton of people suddenly start typing in chinese then things like WvW become really really difficult to co-ordinate.
Yes french and german can have that effect on WvW. But on the NA servers I have never seen anyone speak in anything other than English, so I can imagine it getting pretty difficult if players were to start typing in chinese.
In what way was GW1 grindy?
The end game achievements like vanquishing and cartography sure. But the game itself was not grindy at all – it was entirely story based and armour was very very easy to get.PvE skills, faction-based titles that gave you access to armor, weapons and consumables and in the first year getting BiS gear was expensive aswell (runes, upgrades)
None of that was necessary. Faction based titles were entirely optional and the armour that they gave you access to had EXACTLY the same stats as the armour you could buy from a vendor – that is horizontal progression by definition.
Runes and Upgrades were not that expensive, money was not difficult to make in GW1.That depends on what stage of GW1 are you looking at. At release, money was far from easy to get and things like a Rune of Superior Vigor were next to prohibitive.
But in prophecies the storyline was long and leveling up was not a speedy process. It wasn’t a grind either, at no point did you have to stop and level up before proceeding – the progression arc was simply longer. Which meant that you didn’t need those runes until you got to Dronkar’s – at which point you probably should have been in a place to afford them.
I hate to say this – but most people aren’t going to take kindly to seeing chinese characters in game. It makes coordination very difficult and it puts up a language barrier.
There is a reason that France and Germany have their own servers. On the other EU servers and ESPECIALLY on the NA servers people aren’t really likely to respond well to chinese characters. Also you have to question how beneficial this is – how many players are playing in chinese? How many of those players cannot speak English?
- You’re playing on the games Western servers.
Mini display port to hdmi won’t allow you to share an internet connection though. Since mini display port is purely a display connection.
(Of course if sharing an internet connection between the two isnt a problem then yes definitely go mini display to HDMI if it’s cheaper.)
I have a feeling that supporting chinese characters isn’t really possible – because in order for it to be displayed to other people all other plays would need to have chinese language scripts installed on their computer. Most people don’t because in America or Australia, or France, or New Zealand, there is no need to have chinese language packs installed.
The game is only officially supported in English (not American.. Seriously that was shameful), French and German (there may be another european language I can’t remember).
Who said that magic grows?
I’d be more inclined to believe that magic has a constant amount throughout Tyria and that the dragons wake, consume all of it – so it then becomes part of them – and then while they sleep it seeps back into the world. That way if they were destroyed Tyria would have the exact same amount of magic that it has always had, it would just be in the world rather than in the dragons.
The idea that magic can grow seems really weird, I think a persons power or magical prowess can grow – but that is generating more magic, it’s just drawing more to them and away from the aether or w/e you want to call it.
