This is because your mac is having to run both Cider and GW2 at the same time. GW2 is already an INCREDIBLY CPU intensive game, running it inside Cider just makes it even worse.

My honest suggestion, install Windows through Bootcamp and play GW2 on there.

I get the vibe that Heal-o-Tron is more likely to be caught up in whatever treachery Evon is plotting than it is to actually help. It would fit with the way that its character seems to exist solely to go through bad things for cheap laughs.

But there is a dialogue between Evon and Heal-o-Tron and Evon does not seem particularly interested in helping him out, nor do they appear to have any prior knowledge of one another (in a meeting sense, because H-o-T had to know to go to Evon to try and buy things).

But even with the Azurite bit – as someone who missed that particular release – what is Azurite? Why did the Molten Alliance want it farmed? etc. (I’m not legit asking these questions, just pointing out that people who didn’t experience the content aren’t getting their questions answered by the Atlas).

I feel like it really wouldn’t have been that difficult to write up a little summary of each release/what happened in each map. It’s getting to the point where you have to question what exactly they hire their writers for because we don’t see an awful lot of writing.

Regarding 3 – There are issues concerning killing children in video games and maintaining a certain rating – so I don’t think Taimi is dead or anything, she probably just didn’t fit in the screenshot.

Regarding 2 – Concept art is always indicative only, rather than an actual representation of the world. Kessex Hill’s loading art for example (pre-LS) had giant statues of the Gods littered across the fields of grass. – There are no statues in Kessex Hill. Then there are the instances of concept art, e.g. Wintersday which had Artwork featuring someone riding a horse, that have things we don’t see in game.

It also unfortunately fails to do what I -think- it’s purpose is – to inform players what has happened thus far in the living story. Putting the previous trailers and a couple of screenshots/concept art in one place doesn’t tell players what actually happened, at least not in any useful way.

I applaud the idea, but it seems very hastily thrown together. The interface itself is great, but it’s an Atlas, they could have tried to include some more useful information in there and made some kind of effort to retell the living story thus far. Even 1 paragraph per LS release would have gone a long way.

If they were characters in game you would have met them. We know the voice actors for the trailers and it isn’t someone who voices any of the characters in game. You can tell from the mismatch of the tone of voice (it is edited to sound creepy and somewhat similar to Scarlet’s voice) and what they’re saying – they’re pretty positive about things and are kind of encouraging players.

It’s not that I like to think I have all the answers – it’s just common sense. Given what we can observe and the information that we have – we can pretty safely say that the narrator is just that – a narrator.

I know that it makes it easier for people to relate to, but it isn’t creative at all and it isn’t realistic. (Not to say that fantasy is realistic, but if you’re going to have multiple intelligent races the chances are they are not all going to look like humans… Evolution doesn’t work that way)

All the other races except for maybe norn are a waste of development time in my opinion.

Story or not, i ain’t playin a furry, a tree person or a rat.

Though on the flip side, it adds diversity to the overall game giving a lot more flare to the game.

Also this game is South Korean made like the original GW (NCSoft) and Korean Game Developers often have a great art style for both armor/clothing and character models for both male and female, which this game shows, you can make a masculine battle vet middle aged guy to a 20 something pretty boy spell swordsmen, to a cold cool lady knight to a cute mage girl.

The point is, a lot of gamers like being good lookin’ characters, be it a guy or girl. Everything else is a minority. Shallow but true lol.

The game is NOT South Korean made. NCSoft is a Korean owned company – but the developers of GW1 and GW2 are Arenanet, and they are a North American company. Everything in this game is North American – the art style, the development, the story. Everything.

Tom, Zhaitan can bring life to corpses that he did not kill – so he isn’t corrupting, just using corpses as a means of constructing minions. Which is not that different to how Primordius creates minions. It seems most logical that they all can corrupt in both ways – but that the corruption of living beings is easier.

FlamingFoxx.1305

I am extremely annoyed right now. I didn’t know that Celestial armor pieces behave differently from every other exotic armor in the game (i.e. you need recipes for each piece rather than discovering each piece.) Each piece’s recipe costs multiple gold. Yes, I suppose I could have looked up a guide and realized this, but how is this intuitive in any way? I blew through a lot of materials and gold and now I’m stuck with insignias that I cannot use.

Because celestial was introduced later than everything else and for some bizarre reason they must have thought it was going to be so good that it needed gating behind massive walls….

I’ve made my celestial armour, I would like to not have to do it again. It is not fun to deal with and the gating makes no sense when to craft any other stat is so simple.

Bank, TP and Crafting all right next to each other. I don’t use the forge often enough, nor do I use the Laurel vendor often enough, for it to be worth spending money on.

The Dragons do NOT need to corrupt lifeforms to turn into minions. Primordius for example is capable of creating minions out of lava/rock (yes he models them after creatures, but they are not corrupted creatures). So unfortunately that part of your theory doesn’t fit. The dragons can manipulate objects as well as beings. Also I’ll point out that Zhaitan is corrupting inanimate corpses and turning them animate – rather than corrupting living beings (when he corrupts a living being they die and then are ‘risen’.)

The Djinn are intelligent beings – but playing as them wouldn’t make sense.
They’re meant to be extremely powerful and they are elementals. Also imagine trying to get current armour to fit on creatures who have 4 arms and no feet. Because seriously, you can’t put boots or pants on something with no feet.

As to the Largos being playable – not likely. The lore has set them up as individuals who act alone and mostly out of either a debt to someone – or as hunters/assassins. They just don’t fit as a playable race.

Gw2 expansion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FlamingFoxx.1305

FlamingFoxx.1305

It just frustrates me that they are so worried to get new players, that they will sacrifice for the old ones. This game will be dead in a year unless something changes.

It won’t. The B2P model functions differently to P2P and F2P, and GW/GW2 are two of the only MMO’s that use this model.
If this were a P2P game then yes it would be on the downward spiral, but it isn’t. Arenanet can afford to put the focus on pulling new players in and getting people to make purchases on the gem store – because that is what provides them with a profit.

They’re releasing in China soon and I would strongly suggest waiting until that has happened. I think at the moment more of their focus than we realise has been on that launch. The influx in cash that it will bring them and the freeing up of resources may see them in a better position to more seriously consider an expansion.

I think the thing is that when it says “Goodbye” they’re literally using the same dialogue string as every other dialogue option that says Goodbye – which means only one piece of code.

If they were to add in lengthier responses those responses would have to be making some kind of direct mention to that NPC’s dialogue, which means every single end dialogue option has to be different. So that is a LOT more text in game and a lot more code.

I agree that it would be great to have this, but I can see why they aren’t going to do it. It would also be great if the response text line wasn’t so tiny, it’s actually really easy to just not pay attention to it even when our character does have a longer response.

World Wide Economic Impact?

LA is the economic hub because it is where adventurers flock to, it’s a trading port, and it is the home of the BLTC.

Evon is still alive so the BLTC isn’t going anywhere. All of the adventurers are still alive, so their trade isn’t going anywhere. And Rata Sum has a perfectly functional port, as well as Asura Gate to all of the major cities.

So I don’t think the economy should be adversely effected. Also it’s a game and games don’t tend to go for that kind of depth. So everything will be fine and dandy xD.

Living World vs Lore

The length of a year pretty much depends on the size of the planet’s orbit. The further away a planet is away from the star the longer the year. Mass also have something to do with it but that doesn’t matter.

The number of hours in a single day depends on the planet’s spin speed.

A planet’s year can be anything. So I don’t know what is all the fuss about that.

Exactly, if THAT was the explanation they went with it would be fine.
But they changed it. There were originally 360 days in a Tyrian year, but recently they changed it to 365.

We KNOW that there have been Astronomers in Tyria for a long time. e.g. the Jotun, and also the observatories in Elona etc. etc. blah blah blah. – It would be remarkably bizarre if every single one of those Astronomers had somehow managed to plot Tyria’s orbit incorrectly and had missed 5 days.

So it went from Tyria having 360 days, which would suggest a slightly smaller orbit than our Earth, to 365 days – except that to our knowledge the orbit has not changed, some Asura simply discovered that there were extra days in the year (which makes zero sense from a scientific viewpoint considering the number of people who had plotted celestial events and Tyria’s orbit in the past.

@Naetell, I agree completel,y it is a very minor change. But I think the uproar/fear has to do with the idea that if they are willing to change that then they’re probably willing to change other things. There was no reason to change it, and it doesn’t make sense to have changed it, and the change was handled so poorly. So yeah, people are worrying that the writers are just going to start backtreading allover the lore and leaving it in a mess of footprints.

They need that hype in close future. With release of Wildstar, TESO, they will announce something bigger to release, probably 2-3 months after Wildstar premiere. Marketing, baby.

They’d be more likely to announce something either just before or at the same time as Wildstars release (Judging on the overwhelmingly negative reviews TESO is nothing to worry about), 2-3 months after doesn’t help so much because Wildstar is a sub game and after 1 month GW2 would see players return with the expiration of their sub. But Wildstar and GW2 are both owned by NCSoft so Arenanet is likely to be strongly discouraged from any attempt to release or announce a large content release around the same time as Wildstars launch.

They’re a back piece. They have one set of inherent stats, and then you can put a second set on them – like with a jewel or an orb – is that what you mean? If so then yes, I believe so.

To put stats on them you just double click it from your Inventory and a window should pop up allowing you to select the stats from a drop down menu.
