Given the pages (90 as I write) and reads (over 30k), the PCGamer comments and the Reddit stuff… would you not think that, by now, a response would have been posted by Anet? Granted it’s the weekend but, even so…
Oh, and, for the record, I’m in the HoT only please camp; don’t need the whole game again thankee.
1) There should be an option to buy the expac only – pricing to reflect that.
2) Reviews of the actual expac should be read before purchase.
3) Anet ought to post an official reply to alleviate concerns.
Instead of pre-purchasing, why not wait and read reviews? It could be the best thing since sliced bread or could be matter expulsed from satan’s bowels.
It’s always the way. Although I don’t consider myself part of Europe (another argument for another place), we’ll always get charged more; it was the same for the last MMO I played for ages. Plus, of course, in this country tax is actually like being robbed by our own government.
Personally, I’m going to wait until it’s actually out rather than indulge in this pre-purchase malarkey. And then I’ll be waiting to see what others think about whether it’s actually worth buying.
At the moment, it seems a bit “slim” on content but I’m happy to be learnt differently.
Just watched the PAX thing. Late I know. I heard “more challenging” content would be there. Now, I’m a pretty rubbish gamer so do you think the HOT stuff is going alienate those of us that aren’t the most responsive/battle hardened/l33t?

I understand that this will be available in both digital and boxed versions. I have a question: if I get the box, I will install from disk but then will I have a huge download on top of that?

My two penneth is this: listen to your players/customers. If a large section of the community are up in arms about something, something needs to be addressed.
I can give an example of how horrible things get – Google SoE/Prosiebensat. It prompted a video on YouTube too. If you want to watch it, it’s called “somewhere in norrath another guild dissolves” but please note it contains mild swearing

Tried solo. Got creamed. Wasn’t fun. Nah, won’t bother trying again; life’s too short. I’m a casual gamer so don’t have l33t skillz or time to work out “mechanics” – I just want to have fun with a game, not have to work at it.
And to those who are waving the “dumbing down effect” flag, well, you’re entitled to your view and I’m entitled to mine.
Not sure about never been seen before but… giant sandworms in Dry Top (“mmm Shai’Hulud”), vampires changing into and out of bat form for a quick neck suck, puppies, horses, snakes, unicorns (evil ones so we can kill ‘em), fairies (ugly, not cute), swans (for chef’s), orcs, troglodytes…

For my own preferences, I’m not keen on the champion thing. Just not my cup of tea. I play PvE only – as that’s what I enjoy doing – so my view is biased in having more PvE options.
Having said that, I don’t find it too much of a problem as I’m not chasing achievements – makes the game seem like having to go to work And I salute the daily log on to accumulate stuff like laurels.
Not having played GW1, I couldn’t say. But, IMHO, a “spear” seems a one handed weapon and, as Ardenwolfe says, very javelin-like. In one sense, following on from that, they could almost be classed as a projectile weapon.
What’s the back pack called that looks like three globes of chemicals? I have that on my engineer and it’s well suited for when she uses the elixir gun.
I’m not a lover of heat personally so the cold places are my faves. I love the idea of enhancing the experience by having the local RL temp – when I log on next I’m going to open the window and WP to Hoelbrak.
Why do you say they are not well designed? I’m afraid I don’t understand from what angle you’re coming from.
an artistic angle. Balance, silhouette, texture, how well it matches the other items ingame, how much it appeals to certain target groups. The same way comic sans isn’t a nice font and Helvetica is.
Thanks for that. To be honest, I don’t really get many rare or higher drops and when I do they get salvaged for ecto’s unless they are worth gold on the TC.
Not sure about that but just yesterday, I tried a few and got no prezzies at all. Is that a feature?
EDIT: Sorry, to be clear: what I meant was, I wander up to the present, open it and get the kickback, out spawn the skrit but there’s no gift lying on the ground to collect. Is that normal?
Oh lord, I remember this type of trading from my EQ1 days. And yes, as Inculpatus says, it was a WTB/WTS spam in the chat channel. Which also meant that you could only sell stuff while on-line. No, give me GW2 trading over that any day.
