I think I am going to make a run this season on condi longbow and see where I can get. I think I will be starting in amber or emerald as I havnt played since S2. Maybe the reduced CD on the wilderness skills will carry me to legend tier lols.
When druid first came out I tried condi staff and the damage even on a stationary test golem was so bad I couldn’t kill it. However I’m with you, I’m sort of determined to play this season with a condi build. I don’t want to do power LB again, and healing is so blasé.
If I wind up close to legendary which is unlikely since I PvP like once a month these days, I’ll switch to something more traditional . This season is likely the only chance I’ll have to ever make it that far. I don’t have time for grinding anymore with a bebe so maybe I’m actually skilled enough to pop this out.
I was considering playing revenant this season after maining ranger for 4+ years. Looks like you guys got the ranger treatment though… so long suckers!
Longbow druid/ranger is inarguably the easiest solo PvE build. Any type of necro is 2nd.
The other professions are miles behind in terms of Cadillac-driving PvE easy comfort, but next would be guardian/warrior.
You’re using 5 power-focused weapons, in that they cause 0 or 1 condition that tick damage, yet you’re wearing condition focused gear.
Not sure how new you are to the game in general, but you need your gear to compliment your weapons. Use power-focused gear for power weapons and condi focused gear for condi weapons.
Your damage is close to the lowest it can possibly be, totally unmodified from just having a naked character.
Edit: One more thought, your gear does not affect your pets if that’s why you’re in rabid. Pets are independent entities like another player that follows you around.

And if it gets interrupted or dies before it slams, no it doesn’t activate the effects.
Use Phase Traversal on some target way off at the edge of your vision. Use axe 4 on ambient creatures or just to engage. About face Riposting Shadows. You move hella fast even without Glint.
It’s been confirmed by the devs that sand in Tyria is ~ 80% silica, ~12% chlorite, ~7% glauconite and >1% olivine.
Just kidding. I highly doubt you’re going to find any lore on sand composition.
Eles and engies affect all sorts of weird stuff with “magnetism” though.
You can do it, but you shouldn’t. Even if you had 5 full condi guys in your pug it would still benefit you to take away his invuln and get the physical damage, since viper and sinister have power and precision on them.
You can just condi Bjarl down actually.
I would leave the party if someone tried to condi him down rather than just using his mechanic.
They have mechanics, but most of them can be ignored by bursting the bosses down, since they have a laughable amount of health for meta dps groups.
I’m not talking about boss attacks, I’m talking about simple stuff like tanking Bjarl while he’s still buffed even though I’m calling out his mechanics in party chat. You could do 1mil DPS and you still can’t make progress if you refuse to not be an idiot.
I use Life’s Blood and Midnight Fire I believe, to match the sword. I really love all the Midnight _ dyes, check them out. I use them on all 9 characters I think.
Here’s an older shot of my ranger from a year or so ago.
The regular ascended berserker longbow skin matches the Twilight colors as well.
There are, choose different professions.
Logic failure at it’s best!
160-176+ MPs don’t imply that those people are raiders.
You can’t get more than like 168 without raiding. I was playing with people over that limit.
I’m going to ask the stupid question, but is it ok to recruit others?
Once a collection item is in your inventory you automatically unlock it’s purpose, so throw/sell everything away.
That’s not true for every collection item, e.g. for Spark
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bauxite_Ore
It’s both a collection item and an ingredient for one of the other collection items. You do have to read the description properly before destroying it. Anything that says “Only has value as part of a collection” is safe to dispose of.
Oops, thank you.
I did several dungeon runs tonight with people in the 160-170+ MP range. I would describe them as absolute disasters.
I assumed people of that experience level knew what they were doing, but when things went south I asked people if they needed a refresher on mechanics. Or if they’d never done the runs before that’s fine, but let me explain the basics. Zero response over several runs.
Things like max MP guys attacking the boss at the end of CoF2, attacking the boss at the pillar section of CoE1, not stacking the elite golems before the CoE lasers…

No he’s saying you start channeling NC and then cut out of CA. It’s a solid, smart technique.
Two totally different things. Jewels are a customization for exotic gear, infusions are a small bonus stat on ascended gear.
BTW don’t spend too much effort on exotic jewelry, ascended is very easy to get. In fact I’d recommend you entirely avoid exotic jewelry.
Edit: What I wrote barely makes sense to me. If you have an exotic ring and add a jewel to it, you’ll have slightly less stats than an ascended ring. You can also add a slight bonus stat to an ascended ring called a WvW infusion.

Well sure, people have cleared raids with like 4 people. I thought power druid was out of meta though. Whatever, we’ll just wait for someone who knows what they’re talking about to clarify.
Do raids still take power druids? I don’t follow that genre but I thought with the healing power nerf that only pure healing druids and condi rangers were wanted.
, said Fluffball, posting without contributing anything on a topic he knows nothing about.
Once a collection item is in your inventory you automatically unlock it’s purpose, so throw/sell everything away. There are a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of useless items in this game and your inventory and bank are going to be overflowing in seconds if you horde things.
Waste Management Wars 2.
This is just a silly post, but I am redoing the LS on an alt and went straight from episode 2 into episode 3. In other words, I saw the Aurene projection in Tarir at the egg chamber and my character was like “what are you doing out here in the deep deep wilderness??”
It made me giggle. That is all.
Sorry, I meant the ranger subsection fractal builds, not the fractal meta.
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Ranger
Power (berserker) longbow is perhaps the easiest build in the entire game to solo things with.
This is what I use for all new content:

metabattle.com, use any of the fractal builds as a base and then replace group support stuff with selfish stuff. You’ll want a stun breaker for HoT.
For easy solo I’d recommend either longbow power or some sort of axe torch build using dire or rabid/carrion. If you’re comfy you can go full glass on condi, but HoT is a significant step up in difficulty from the core game.
That’s a decent idea if anyone other than you would be lazy enough to do it. And I’m constantly shocked at the laziness of people so ya, probly.
Ahh, I get it now, another post pushing for mounts and housing which have been talked to death and dismissed.
I may have been trolled but he seemed liked a guy asking about sort of archaic MMO stuff without just checking the patch notes. Most of the stuff he asked I think has been addressed in a much better way than what he was expecting.
Read my question again- "The main turnoff of this game for me has always been the lack of “other stuff to do” – housing, fishing, collecting lore items or books, mounts, etc. " and " I’d check it out again if there was something else to do other than combat-oriented/leveling oriented stuff." So: Have they added anything to do that’s not leveling/combat/grinding oriented, like most MMOs do – or is it all still that?
There are similarities to things you mentioned, you know how GW2 works nothing is a copy of Runescape. For example there are often lore collection achievements associated new story installments. Guild Halls are very much like player housing in that you can turn them into anything you want visually. Gliding/mushrooms/Bloodstone Fen gliding masteries can be considered mounts of a sort. Wardrobe and other collections exist. Blah blah blah etc. etc. And the “etc.” you list may be in the list as well. There is a MOBA style PvP mode now, I have no idea what interests you.
All I can say is that there has been a enormous amount of content and features added since launch.
So same stuff as before, just more of it – and no added content beyond that? No “fluff stuff” like housing?
What are you talking about? They added tons of new content, 5 man group content, 10 man ultra-hard raids, tons of new story, PvE maps with new concepts, PvP maps, a new PvP game type, new WvW map, Guild Halls, cosmetic changes like the wardrobe. Go look at the patch notes for the past 4 years, no one is going to type out every major change for the entire development course of a game for any major MMO, that’s ridiculous.
In the past 3-4 years they’ve added several hundred hours of new content, story, and maps across multiple mediums and game types.
Pretty much every skill could be implemented underwater, that’s just a design decision here.
I’ma guess less of a design decision and more of a boss saying “we don’t have time” decision. See: Herald.
Well dervish won’t ever be back because the gods left and it’s a human thing, but “similar class” would be a daredevil or revenant using the scythe staff skin. The actual weapon is totally irrelevant the way skills work. It could be a pool noodle and it would function the same way.
It’s just Anet adding incentive that doesn’t do jack, nor show any signs of creativity. Nothing new.
It’s not common, but at least a couple times a year I get into an epic underwater duel in WvW. I’ll probably get an ascended breather for my main at some point.
There was a guy a few months ago that played necro in a duel by literally rolling his face across the keyboard. You could try that in open world, would probably do pretty well.
Agreed. For me QD is the best trait in the entire game across all professions. It takes your most powerful skill and gives it to you twice. And you get to pick a new “most powerful skill” based on whatever situation you’re in. It’s so good.
The official response is that they were ‘lost’.
Not to speak for Archon, but there isn’t a ton of variation in the high-end builds. He’s probably running something similar to this:
We already have 3 “serious” or epic legendary great sword skins.
Next one will be a “joke” or “fun” skin.
I’d like to see maybe a great sword resembling an electric guitar. Something à la Gene Simmon’s axe bass. That would be really cool. Imagine those sounds and musical notes effects.
The other way to look at it is that all of the joke legendaries are on some of the least popular weapons across all classes, and greatswords are probably the 2nd most popular weapon (next to sword I’m guessing?). I am predicting a serious 4th greatsword.
While I’d love a grimdark themed greatsword, Anet is likely to make a light hearted one next. For the most part, Anet makes 1 light hearted or 1 not so light hearted (dreamer/chuka, moot/eureka, quip/hope, prophs/shooshadoo). I still have my hopes up for the sceptre though.
I disagree with your pattern assessment. For starters, the pattern you identified only accounts for 4 new legendary and six have been released, so you’re already only seeing 66%. Second, the pattern I’m seeing is 5/6 of the new legendaries have been “serious”.
The overwhelming majority of legendaries are “serious” (24/27).
Late game can mean a lot of things. Are you talking about WvW? PvP? Fractals/Dungeons? Raids?
Which one you intend on doing will have a major impact on what would be useful.
He specifically asked about raids and fractals. That pretty much leaves PS warrior or condi ranger, I can’t think of much else considering he doesn’t want to play guardian.
They just had a 50% off sale on HoT, it might still be going on? If not, it may up again for Christmas.
Anyway, a phalanx strength warrior is always a good choice. Edit: I ignored the bit about it being fun for me as I play ranger 99.9% of the time.
I’m quite sure ascended anything isn’t need for any part of the game other than agony resist, but nagr does have a good point that trinkets are so cheap it’s like “do I trust someone that ‘lazy’?”
On the other hand I would never ask someone to ping their gear these days other than for very high end PvE stuff.
At the end of the day, what else are you going to work towards? A fancy skin? Might as well acquire something useful.
It’s just personal preference, but I wouldn’t take sic ‘em any more. I used to always take it, but there are so many awesome options these days I think it’s a little lackluster. I couldn’t list a replacement suggestion without basically naming every skill we have… even untraited stuff like spike trap, GoE, GoT, QZ, LR… All kinds of good stuff, since you already have tons of swiftness and regen.
And another personal preference, I nearly always take quickdraw. I would go so far as to say LB/staff isn’t worth running without it. I’d drop MM and LtW and rely on QD to buff your LB skills. (And that could lead to a traited spike trap or even HS if your group needs it.)
The reason I refuse to run without QD is because it’s both offensive and defensive depending on what you need. Offense, you can double up on RF, barrage, lunar impact, Natural Converg. if you’re cleaving rezzes… I’ll even use vine surge twice sometimes especially if someone is already disabled. For defense, you can double up on AG, SC, HS, or Rejuv. tides.
Edit: One final thought on your sic ‘em, I’m currently using untraited LR and SoR because druids are surprisingly weak against immob. Right now your only way out is CA or VS which can be a death sentence if someone is paying attention to you.

Have you looked at the living story for acquiring them? Raids? Bandit crests? Achievement rewards? Collection rewards?
I have 9 characters with full ascended jewelry, not because I ever play most of them, but just because there are a bunch of ways of getting the equipment.
Before a mechanism rework, Anet need to balance pet skills so that they don’t have indecent cool down and induction time. At the moment a lot of pet’s skills are useless and sometime they even are a burden (quickening screech I hate you). Pet skills also need to be balanced against each other.
If you could keybind pet skills, things like quickening screech would be absolutely fine. However I do agree with most pet skills are so far beyond useless it’s an insult to the entire kitten company that they exist. If they released an expac pet with skills comparable to something like a murellow, it would be embarassing for anet, yet somehow it’s fine to have 90% of core pets be useless.
Ya, definitely celestial. I made an ascended set of it and then I customize it with jewelry. Add a bunch of condi jewelry and all the sudden you’ve got a decent WvW condi druid, etc.
No your stuff would work, but why mess with something so simple as a heel command? Default assign it to page-up for all I care, I just want to be able to bind these things.
Reminds me of Revs crying over condition removal when they only play Herald/Shiro. They have stance swapping, Jalis heal, removal on dodge, Resistance and Staff 4.
Don’t blame them, rev players were spoiled when their profession was released. They got to do anything and everything and be immortal gods and also be awesome in addition to being immortal gods and then look cool on top of it because balance was a thing when an expansion was to be sold. It’s a hard knock life to adjust to.
Without knowing anything about what stats are available, just pick some damage focused stats and then revel in the fact that you’ll use it once in a blue moon on the water fractal.
Am I missing a deeper dilemma in your question?
Condition Ranger/Druid have far superior damage. You would use full viper’s for this.
With the caveat that they only do this in highest end PvE. Obviously for something like lab you’d go LB ranger, or some equivalent. And viper is a little silly in WvW.
