Why Do Most GW2 Players Hate Hard Content?

12players =easier then 5 players
I want hard 5 man content, cause that would be unique. Raids are only difficult because they have that many people, GW2 dungeon mechanics are harder the most wow raids…

GW1 wasn’t an MMO, though, it was a series of instances strung together by open lobbies to group up in. It did that pretty decently, I think, but it was not an MMO.

I don’t agree with this, and i know that it doesn’t specify as an MMO cause somehow it’s been determined all of the world needs to be open for being and mmo, but i think it’s by far the best version of massive multiplayer online content around that time.

GW2 becomes an “mmo” while loosing the entire multiplayer aspect, wich is more mmo? i say GW1 is, cause not having any decent multiplayer system is worse then not having an open world.

No, seriously, play with just 1 and 6 and you can play the entire game from beginning to end. And, it is objectively bad because of that fact.

It saddens me i have to totally agree with that :/.

As what i mean for “fun”.
I want gw2 to be a tool wich makes it possible to have fun with my friends, as i would expect of an mmo. However gw2 is the kind of game that trows stuff already “fun” out, but because of this not challenging or engaging. An mmo should be a tool to fun, with a little bit of fun itself, but not to much, cause that is something you have friends for.
The most important thing for an mmo is to enable that feeling that you play together, and i’m missing that completely with GW2, not because of my guild, cause i know these people from GW1, and other games, i know we can have fun together, in gw2 however, we aren’t.

I still haven’t heard any argument why it’s ok for an MMO to be mainly singleplayer, and i’m only upset because i love the guildwars franchise as a whole.

I just want them to execute their original plans instead of making more single player stuff that makes this move from what it means to play an mmo. When we take raiding, the big team thing, out of Wow for example, there is still more stuff to do together then in GW2.

And this “together” thing is so extremely important. Why else play an mmo? I guess if you are so rusted into the genre this isn’t clear you need a break more then i do. I just expect a game wich calls itself an MMO to actually have good multiplayer content, that doesn’t mean it needs to be challenging, but it does mean that doing it together with a group of friends needs to be at least as rewarding as doing stuff alone.

One example: i’ve logged in about 7 times for bout 2 hours in the 2 weeks before SAB, i’ve actually seen 1 guildie being afk in lions arch in that time, for the rest i’ve been playing on my own, and the one group i joined was a pug cause guildies aren’t up for group content unless they need something from there, and i’m in a fairly large guild as main guild. So what does that say? There is no reason to group up with your guild or friends, anything you can do as a group you can do faster and better on your own or in a “speedrun” party. So grouping doesn’t actually happen anymore.

What do i want? If 10-15 people in my guild are online, i want there to be a “hey let’s do something together” instead of everyone minding his own thing. Not mandatory, but at least worth doing as much as playing solo. It isn’t atm. Playing solo is the most rewarding thing in the entire game, in pve, in wvw (cause zerging is playing solo) and pvp. (solo que will even get a different bracket now…) This game is focussing so much on being fun it has let go of being social.

And tbh, if you don’t want a social game, you’re in the wrong place, not me, cause this is supposed to be an mmo.

No MMO has ever:

 • Produced enough content to satisfy those who play a lot
 • Produced enough content hard enough for the really skilled
 • Managed to keep player interest without mechanics like gear progression and daily quests
 • Had at launch all the features that everyone wanted
 • Produced stories that a large percentage of the players thought were “good” (heck, many MMO’s just have lore, and the only way players interact with the lore is by doing raids — this is hardly a story)

GW2 has a “serious” personal story, albeit with a happy ending. I cannot fault ANet for this, as I think a grim, gray ending would displease more people than it would please.

“And that’s the big problem, we don’t need other people in this mmo, you can stick your head in the sand and just ignore the rest and still get the same results.”

Not if the result you’re looking for is fun with others. There are things to do with others, it’s just that the game does not force you to do them. You have to want to, and you have to make some effort to get others involved. The only games that forced grouping were those with open world mobs so hard that a majority of classes couldn’t solo. Even in raid-included games, players are not forced to raid, they just have to if they want the best gear, and those things were/are harder to organize than a GW2 dungeon or a temple clear.

I don’t want forcing, i want decent content (wich dungeons are not) that can be done in group, nothing raid like, but at least enough to have something to do with your guild. Problem now is grouping up with people to do a dungeon or smth like that, is far less profitable then doing your own thing in the open world. There is no reward, in fact you are punished for grouping cause you could have done better in the open world. I’m not the guy who does things for rewards, but the only reason i find others to do dungeons is if they need the tokens. I’m in 3 guilds, 2 of over 100 members, and we struggle to even make one dungeon run happen, just because it’s bad mechanics, not fun and no rewards, now tell me plz how that suits an mmo?

Now to your other comments:

 • Produced enough content to satisfy those who play a lot: i play 2 hours a day, i know people who play far less, we are BORED. It’s not the ammount of content, it’s the quality.
 • Produced enough content hard enough for the really skilled: and GW1 with far less content could do this from the moment it opened till now, how come that game can and this one can’t?
 • Managed to keep player interest without mechanics like gear progression and daily quests: again GW1 did…
 • Had at launch all the features that everyone wanted: of course not, but i’ve never heard of an MMO where playing solo is more beneficial then grouping, not even at launch, have you?
 • Produced stories that a large percentage of the players thought were “good”: i agree with this one, but again, i don’t play an mmo for the story, and this wouldn’t bother me if this was actually an mmo to begin with, but it’s not, it’s a glorified singleplayer.

The only thing i want is to log in and have something to do with my friends, wich before this patch was WvW, until that got totally screwed up and now is zerg vs zerg due to rewards, where again, grouping with 5 or 10 people (like a guild) only gets you killed.

This game rewards the antisocial tactics and then expects it’s players to be social. Players will always take the easy path, and if that easy path is antisocial you have a glorified singleplayer game like the one we ended up with here.

Sounds like you’re not having fun.

I agree that there’s a whole lot less to do in this game that’s “challenging”. Higher level fractals are, and some of the dungeon paths are. Do you notice what happens when you make a dungeon path even harder? People tend to do it less.

Some people want to be challenged, but I don’t think most people do. I think most people play games to blow off steam. I like challenge too, but in small doses, when my head is into it. I don’t like constant challenge.

I think that’s one thing I like about the game. I don’t have to keep a raid schedule. I can just sorta log on, bounce around a bit, do a couple of real life chores, bounce around a bit more. I’m not going to worry to much about stuff.

And when I have a block of time, I do fractals, or help guildies with dungeons.

I don’t personally find the dungeons fun anyway, but you know, the dungeons people ran were always the easiest ones. What do you think is run more often CoF path 1 or the new Ascalonian Catacombs?

I think that a balance needs to be struck between harder content and easier content. As of now, that balance doesn’t exist, but I believe it will. I believe over time there’ll be more hard things for people to do.

Right now, however, the game seems to favor the more casual player. For plenty of people out there, the dungeons are just too hard.

It’s not all about challenge.
I agree that sometimes you just want to blow off steam, but even then, there is nothing to actually do it with others. The only thing you can do is grind another day away on tasks that are boring, doing them together doesn’t actually make a difference so everyone stays in their own little bubble and you have an mmo where playing together is a chore… Entertainment is so much more then comedy, and games are so much more then “fun”. It would be like playing a soccer match like i used to do school where everyone is shooting at a different goal, 200 times in a row. It makes no sense at all. An mmo should let the players make the game, and just support them doing it together, no matter how many they are. GW2 was looking as a game where friends could do stuff together no matter what, when in reality, you can’t do anything together. The social aspect is important to anyone here, otherwise you wouldn’t play an mmo, and yet it’s not used for anything but communication. In the last few weeks i’ve played a few single player games while being on the Teamspeak of my GW2 guild, and it’s sad to say that the only difference in doing that or playing GW2 is that GW2 doesn’t have the quality a single player game has. I didn’t miss playing together because we actually don’t… An mmo can’t be as good as a single player game in mechanics or actual game, it has to make up for that is other stuff, but it doesn’t :/

This is appearantly a question GW2 devs ask themselves all the time, and i find this to be the most stupid question ever. Why does it have to be fun? Why can’t it be engaging in other ways?

A thriller movie isn’t fun, but you watch it anyway, a drama piece isn’t fun, why the hell do games have to be “FUN” all the time? Especially when we are looking at group play, connecting with people has to be engaging, rather then fun.

Now no this is not about SAB, cause i love that just for the nostalgics(and actually some challenge, who would have known), it’s about the general gameplay. I don’t have anything against fun side missions or just minigames, but atm the entire game is looking to be a joke, and it’s laughing at itself. When will we stop trying to “have fun” in games when games (the really good ones) aren’t about fun at all, they are about getting drawn into a world, they are about story, character, challenge.

If GW2 is trying to be an adult game, wich the nostalgic super adventure box and the casual feel suggests, why is it still treating us like children? The story is so dull it doesn’t get emotion out of a little kid, let alone a grown man, but i guess it’s fun, the dungeons are boring and don’t have any interesting mechanics. Nothing about the main mechanics can be grindy so instead of inserting the grind in challenging stuff that would actually make it worth doing, it’s inserted in the most dull and boring activities of them all. The general feel of being a guild, planning things to do and working together, is gone, there is absolutely nothing to do with your guild and when they do add it they let it last for 15 minutes, most of wich is searching for a wandering npc, wich is boring.

They say gw2 is catering to an audience wich hasn’t got much time to spare, but why is it then that the time we do have to spare is filled with tasks that, if i would let my cat randomly walk over my keyboard while cooking dinner, would still complete?
MMO’s should support getting together with your buddies and doing cool and challenging stuff. Now i don’t have allot of time to spare, and when i do log on first of all i’d like to do stuff TOGETHER, but nothing in this game is remotely interesting enough to actually do with your guild. Every single thing can be breezed trough with a pug, who speedrun or rush things so it’s even more beneficial to do it with them.

Now don’t get me wrong, there is ALLOT to do, but it all feels so generic and boring. I want to be engaged into doing something with others, and it’s not the fun that engages people into coördinated group play (wich is mostly why i play mmo’s) it’s the feeling that you actually NEED EACHOTHER.

And that’s the big problem, we don’t need other people in this mmo, you can stick your head in the sand and just ignore the rest and still get the same results.
The only thing my guild actually gets together for are the guild missions, wich lasts for about 15 minutes each, that’s just sad…

Now before everyone starts to spit fire, i want to enjoy my time ingame aswell, but that’s not what you achieve with making everything fun. The real reason people communicate and form groups is because working together to make something happen feels much better then working alone to do the same thing. It’s the reason this mmo-genre exists, and tbh, gw2 is starting to feel more and more like just a single player with bad mechanics, and some steam achievements for every 2 things you do ingame…

I loved gw1 btw, and i think it’s real sad that from a hub game with only interaction in cities to an open world game, this game has become less social. I wonder how that’s even possible.

Are videogames art or just entertainment?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fox.3469

Fox.3469

As someone who is related to the industry myself.

We’re almost there, and the first games that could be looked at as art are starting to appear, much of the modern arts is about experience and communication anyway. Art is turning into an entire experience rather then one piece, with multiple artists creating cabins or machines.
So what games are coming close. “Journey” is certainly one of them. “Spec ops: The line” another, these games are trying to transfer an idea trough an experience, and do more then just entertain. They have a purpose beyond that. And i think that’s the biggest idea, having a purpose beyond entertaining is hard for a game, wich is the biggest form of entertainment there is.

It’s the “Fun” in games, that’s basicly in it’s way imo. Games are always designed to be “Fun”, while the goal can be made much broader then fun, the goal should be to involve and engage the audience. A drama movie, a true story in books or movies, a thriller, these kinds of things are not “fun” in the basic concept of the word, and yet they engage you. Transfering hurt, misery, lonelyness, pain and other difficult toppics trough a game is often hard, making a game character weak and powerless is a big risk. It’s hard for people not to be “the hero” in any game. And yet this is a line we must cross to have a more engaging and powerfull medium in video games. A “HERO” is not something you can easely relate to, and even tough it feels good to play as one, the game does not engage you like it would if you could actually deeply relate to your character. Most people that do not play videogames at this time are not limited by the technology or the medium itself, but by the lack of something to engage them into this medium. Telling a sad story about a weak and hurting person and then turning him into john rambo gameplaywise doesn’t help either. Games need to ooze the atmosphere the main character is in to become really engaging. If you are hurt and broken you need to feel it in every move, in every action.

If you would look at movies, games are mostly based in the Commedy or Action blockbuster genre, until we can cover the others, i don’t think we can call games an art, but as i said before, there are a few games starting to do other things, starting to head in other directions and starting to broaden our medium, i hope everyone here encourages that process, cause it’s a hard one, and companies crash and burn over the risk they are taking making these gems that will carry forth our industry.

I wonder how deep the rabit hole goes, and i’m exited for the years to come in our industry.

Fox

p.s. i don’t think mmo’s will ever be art, altough some experiences designed in them maybe, but overall an mmo is to large and to broad to entirely translate a concept, idea or emotion. It’s not needed anyway, the mmo genre is a platform for communication rather then an experience, and if it is it’s a shared one. MMO’s and multiplayer lean more to a sport then an artform, wich is what they are ment to be in the first place.

I just don’t understand why the content has to be gated by time. Gate it by times played the previous content or gate it in another way, but time doesn’t make sense.

Sitting there watching politics devellop an entire week, only 25 merrits/week for the bounty, i mean i understand you want to keep people from rushing everything, i really do, but this system just punishes everyone, especially the small guilds.

It’s a shame really, this content could have been great guild content, except it’s not. This has nothing to do with working towards a goal or getting somewhere together, it has to do with how many people you are, that’s all of it. I’m one of the lucky few guilds that have bounty atm, but i’ve been in a small guild in many mmo’s and this just sucks.

The best sollution would be to limit the rewards to a selective amount of people, so for example you first get reward for 10 peeps for free, up from there you’d need to upgrade to be able to participate with more, or something like that, but not this kitten gated system.

Or as you once said yourself: “We don’t want players to stand around preparing to have fun, we want them to go right ahead and have fun.” I’m preparing to have fun…

Btw i remember a game where everything is locked on a weekly reset base, it’s not very popular around here and GW2 is starting to look more like it every day.

I know there have been some concerns about Guild Bounties being in the Art of War line. Our goal with this system is to give guilds activities and long-term progression that they can accomplish by working together as a guild. These missions are meant to be difficult and challenging to not only unlock, but to accomplish.

We would also like to make every guild upgrade line valuable to every guild. Currently, Art of War is very focused on PvP and WvW, but our plan is to continue to add more guild upgrades in the Art of War line to accomplish this. These Guild Missions are the first step. Along with this system, we also added a number of new guild upgrades that guilds can earn.

In the end, our goal for all of this content is to give guilds new goals and challenges to accomplished once they have researched deeply into each line, as well as require guilds to have researched multiple lines to unlock some upgrades. We expect guild members to have to work together as a guild to earn the influence needed to unlock these new missions, as well as overcome the challenge of the missions themselves.

In the future, we plan to continue to add more guild upgrades, as well as continue to add challenging guild missions, as we don’t want guilds to run out of goals and accomplishments they can achieve.

~Izzy @-’—-

I’m sorry but putting the start of pve content in a WvWvW tree only proves one thing, that you are out to get money from the Gems->Gold->Influence line, i have no problem with 1 of the missions being there, but you actually have to research art of war 5 before doing ANY guild missions, wich is stupid.

This entire system is cleary designed only to get money from this conversion from the people that are to impatient to wait.

Content should be gated by skill, not by time.
I’d ask for a reply but i’ll get none, since you don’t have an answer for this except “You’re correct” wich you can’t say. It’s a sad day for the mmo-gamer.

As a person who has always defended this game prior to launch and during the first months, i must say, i’m disgusted. And as an added bonus you made it practicly impossible to start new guilds now… GG

i can never understand how people think the 600 g is “ok”, i had a precursor(dusk) drop for me, yeah i know i’m a lucky basterd, but i’m not even getting close to the rest of the materials, with the main problem being the lodestones. Now i’m not complaining here, but seriously all but the precursor should be enough… Gratz to the OP and i hope you get lucky.

I don’t know if i’m even ever gonna get a legendairy, the kitten behaviour of people around it is so rediculous, i’m gonna get it 3 times as easy because of simple luck, i’m not proud about that, it’s not an achievement, in fact i really find it so stupid… I get a feeling some people don’t even want the skin they want the status, seriously how sad…

I’d trade legendairy’s in for some cool content any day…
ATM i’m not sure wich day will come first, the day i get twilight or the day i put this game down, and i’m not the only one thinking that…

Btw now that i’ve got and soulbounded dusk, i’m getting bored of greatsword, how cool is that…

How bout we stop feeding the need of people to prove themselves with some kind of rare thing?
Customisation-> being unique, and having self-expression should be the goal, not being better then everyone else in a virtual world to compensate not being it in the real one…

This game is becoming elitist when it comes to skins, wich makes me sad…
I hate gear threadmills but i’m at a point where i wouldn’t even mind if they put them in while making skins more available.
I want to be able to tell my friends about a cool skin i found somewhere, or i want to be able to look at an awesome skin and ask the person where he got that, and not get an answer “after 5 months of farming” or “for 200 g + on the trading post” every single freaking time… And by the time you have it you’d actually want to swap weapons cause you are bored of that weapon, and mix up your playstile but you can’t cause you have to equip that expensive thing, how else is it justified?

Non-stop farming, grinding, being kitten at eachother because they didn’t put as much “effort” into it… Seriously,

How did it come to this?

condition builds are almost useless in the game today, they only really work when playing solo, it’s one of the reasons the game is loosing my interest fast, i love playing necro and sword/axe warrior, but when i’m playing with another character based on bleed we always hit the cap, and warriors are the worst, i have to actually refuse to play with other warriors that have 5 or more points in crit to have any damage output. It just sucks.

There’s one simple solution here, each player in the group can stack up to 15/20/25(whatever’s balanced) of a condition on a mob individually. No limit removal, just make the kitten limit personal plz…

(a lesson to be learned, the TP usually resembles the AVERAGE you spend on getting it in the forge, otherwise it wouldn’t be that high priced, now you can try your luck, of course, but you should be wiser and more patient, the only blame is on you(this doesn’t mean the trading post price is reasonable, but when you play with the forge, you should keep TP in mind when gambling))

Challenging missions like Jennur's Horde

Can’t believe you used heroes en henchies in the same sentence as challenging… GW had far better then that, and nothing that relies on npc’s is really challenging, heroes and henchies was about build an micro management of stupid npc’s.

GW2 has real challenge if you look for it, but some people mistake challenge with hotspots farmable by the right build and getting rewards. I don’t actually miss any GW1 missions because they were easier then any GW2 story dungeon if you brought a decent group, hard modes were easier then explorables of most dungeons today. What i do miss are places like underworld and the realm of anguish, before the cookie cutter builds were introduced.

But why the hell be nostalgic? GW2 is on a higher level overall when it comes to challenging and engaging gameplay imo. Fact is after playing this game i’d never play a minute of GW1 ever again.

1. MMOs are fantastic for this, especially GW2. There is nothing I can think of in the game that players can’t decide to enter into the market for because everything in the game you can just go get, there’s no stopping you.

You can in fact not get a legendairy without the market, the droprates are far to low, even if the precursor was obtainable.

This is the sole reason so many people try to manipulate the market.

you are saying the gifts are no problem then the precursor isn’t either, gift of sunrise and twilight cost almost as much as their precursor, add fortune and it’s over the precursor prise. So basicly the precursor is just as achievable as the gifts.

Imo the entire process of grinding is just wrong.

Incoming Mounts??

I dislike mounts personally because i think they take away from customisation. The mount becomes the only outlet, that’s a bit sad.

Here’s an example, it’s a very cool mount no doubt, but when i see this the character is 80% mount and 20% character, wich actually takes away from the entire visual customisation thing, cause it makes the mount super important and it makes 1 item tell people who you are, i’m not ok with that.

And before you go “then don’t use it”, how the hell will that matter, if i don’t use it i’ll stand out even less for being me. I want character customisation, no mounts, because for me personally they aren’t a part of this, they take away from it.

Before reacting think about it, in GW2 your character look is probally much more important to you then in a game like Wow (mounts excluded), i don’t want that to go away.

Sorry, never felt that way. A cool character can only look cooler if riding a cool mount. It doesn’t have to be an elephant. A simple horse, or just an armor plated battle bear for my Norn would suffice. :p

That’s why i’m saying for me personally, i understand that some people want this, but saying there is nothing of a reasonable argument on the side that doesn’t want them is kinda stupid. People have different opinions about this topic, it’s time we respect all these opinions, and not just demand things without discussion.

I dislike mount simply because they take attention away from the character riding them. You’re no longer the dude with the awesome armor, you’re the dude riding the giant chicken. Mounts imo take away from customisation, especially for little races.

Looks like someone wanting to brag more then actual truth. All i see is a dusk and about 10-20 g of items (and 100 g in the bank of course)

I’m not asking for people’s opinion this was a question to Collin, i know there won’t be any new races/areas/proffesions, i’d just like for clarification on what exactly pve wise is coming on the 28th. It’s a bit unclear now, altough something is coming since they mentioned zones where stuff is happening.

All these features sound awesome, but does this: "The sky falls and the ground shakes in the lands of the north. Charr and norn refugees crawl from the wreckage of their homes in the Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau, struggling to find shelter in the south. The call goes out for volunteers to assist the victims in this time of need, when earth and sky seem to have become the enemy…"
mean there is gonna be new pve content in any form on the 28th? It’s a bit unclear now.

I have never ever been defeated in 1v1 battle that took place in WvWvW by a Warrior, i consider them easy targets. Actually almost the easiest target of them all. My guardian is by far the most powerfull i have in WvWvW, but even my engineer can handle warriors with ease. (while guardians are a pain)

dear god, people can overreact, they said tweeking, not nerf overall. Classes are far from balanced and if you read these reactions you can see why. The sky ain’t falling in for 100 less or more damage, learn to adjust and trust in the team kitten This isn’t their first run, and as far for AOE they are correct, AOE is OP and it’s the biggest imbalance between classes atm.

Developer Livestream Questions

Fox.3469

My questions:

-Are there any concerns about the fact that many people run hard content in a group while having magic find gear on, since this is causing some frustrations with pugs for some people. How do you guys see magic find go forward.

-Will the progression in WvWvW be purely cosmetic? I hear something about special WvWvW skills somewhere, could you explain?

-How will pve events look like going forward? Since Collin said Wintersday showed what you had learned from previous events i’m a bit concerned, since i enjoyed the 2 previous events more, because they had more pve content and less minigames.

-Will you be able to guest everywhere without having friends on those specific servers? What are the plans to prevents gold spammers and bots from using the system? Will rich veins be exploitable by this system and if not how do you intend to stop that?

-When we are talking Guild content, is it seen as main enjoyment and play together content or are there plans to have actual challenging content inserted aswell?

-Is there a solution being worked on for people that are dead still raising the difficulty of events, especially talking the balthazar event in orr?

-When adjusting to have different objectives, will they still be doable in every zone, and with the example of rezzing players, aren’t low lvl players really the victim of these kind of dailies, since zones are so empty. Also are there any systems in place for the very creative naked cliff jumping to get the rezzing daily tactics, or do you encourage this?

-Can you start a kickstarter to pay Arnold Schwarzenegger to do Trahearne’s voice as an addon?

-Are there any ways the current personal story from 1-80 will change in the future?

-Are there any more challenging jumping puzzles planned for permanently coming into the game? (like clocktower)

-Do you have a personal experience of an amazing event where your own game even supprised you while you played it?

-Will crafting still be a viable options to get max gear once full ascended gear is out?

-Are there any plans to make infusions swappable for future content, or will we have to aquire a new gear set for the next agony-like mechanic with specific infusions for that. (or will agony stay the main endgame mechanic for all future content?)

-What’s your favorite video game besides GW2 and GW1?

“I am definitely working on the precursor scavenger hunt, but like others have said, things like this take time and I want to get it right.”

If she still worried about getting it right (aka concept on how it will work) then it’s not something that is being implemented is it? She said they were still designing it, and Collin has just said the same, if you would just read the posts instead of the first line, you would actually know this is gonna take time.

“I am definitely working on the precursor scavenger hunt” tells me that the person is, wait for it: definitely working on it. Nothing more, nothing less.
Nobody expected it to be in the next patch (November) but, two months down the line and now we hear that it is actually not currently being actively worked on, that it is still being conceptualized.

But, I digress.

Sorry for derailing your thread, OP.

And collin just said that WORK is still in concept phase, as she did before, he only said they aren’t actively making it cause the concept isn’t finished yet. Concept is work you know, in fact it’s the biggest part of designing anything. And it is important to get this right without breaking the markets and crashing everything. There are more important things, since precursors only affect about 2-3% of game population. How bout you just leave if it’s that important to you, cause no one game item will make up how you feel now… Legendairy’s are just an item, and if you really can’t play the game without em, you won’t be able to do it with them. So save yourself some time and just lay it down.

Exactly this.

Long time ex-GW1 player and, even though I love this game I cannot see myself playing it for much longer. TP flipping? If I wanted to play a trade simulator I would have bought one.

The 180 they pulled on the scavenger hunt and all the other precursor related statements really left a bad taste. I am truly disappoint.

Can you elaborate on this statement. Last I heard they weren’t mentioning it again till April. Not to say it will be released then. Are you saying they said they will no longer be doing the Scavenger Hunt? If so could you provide a link? Thanks.

he was raising expectations, and then got his expectations blown, scavenger hunt will happen and was never confirmed to actually be in development already, and some people just look for stuff to disappoint themselves

So in other words you want something that only lvl 80 can do?

I want events in an MMO to focus on MMO stuff. That’s right, i want to play together with the guild and if possible i want to be challenged in some parts, even while being 80.
Why shouldn’t events be about taking down bosses and stuff like that? Why this forced playing another skillbar then your own with almost all the stuff there is to do? GW2 is a massive multiplayer online RPG and should focus on being just that the best it can. A fun side activity is cool when it is a fun side activity, and not the main content for an mmo.

All can be shrink in one statement:

“I didn’t find anything that i really enjoyed.”

And that’s a good, personal statement, but so it’s:

“I enjoyed everything of it.”

Technically, the event were very good, you could access them from Lion’s Arch, they were instanced in the right way (Jumping puzzle, for example, was doable everytime, instead of logging sunday morning to not meet the darn Norns and Charrs), they were different in style (a Capture the Flag SPVP) or in fun terms (Bell Maestro) and while you could not having enjoyed the rewards, there were nevertheless, unique skins, recipes and toys.

So, while i respect your personal opinion of the events, i think you can admit that there were people who liked to “enter the Wintersday/Christmas spirit” and enjoyed doing even the most frolicking events.

Not all the events are epic or world-threatening… but that doesnt mean they couldn’t be enjoyable.

And they don’t have to be, but it wouldn’t hurt to let people actually play the game.

Now let me make one thing clear: I DIDN’T MIND WINTERSDAY, i really didn’t. I didn’t like it very much but i guessed it would just be because of the holidays and that it’s an lighthearted event to have some content in december wich focusses more on fun and games. What people seem to miss is what i said in the first post.

I mind that Collin says: "Our Wintersday event was an example of applying a lot of the lessons learned from the earlier events to ensure we create content that is inclusive, community driven, and most importantly fun. "

This implies they think wintersday is an improvement to the previous events, and not just a one time thing. And with this statement i strongly disagree. I want events like haloween and lost shores to still happen in the world, and i don’t want wintersday to be the new standard they go by, cause in the aspect of looking at an MMO and adding actual MMO-Content the lost shores and halloween were way way better.

You didnt pay for event. It was free, nobody forced you to do it. Why complain.

If you have nothing to say why comment? Nobody forced you to do it. So why do it?

I care and i’m looking to the future, wintersday is over, i’m just talking about the comment they made about wintersday being what they learned, and i’m complimenting them on the better events, haloween and lost shores, events i actually happely spend money on. I didn’t spend anything on wintersday. I’m concerned the GW2 future would actually not hold events i’d like to spend my money on, wich is both bad for the company and for me.
