1)Margonites
2)Experimental accidents (something like a sentient golem or machine created by an asura)
3)Tengu

Dwarves please!!!!!!

Almost every other fantasy mmo has them playable…. I want it here too!

Dwarves have all turned to stone and disappeared, the only one still there we know of is ogden. They are in the game as a relic of the past, the chance they become playable is 0.00000000000001%

it has actually been confirmed somewhere (don’t know exactly where, but i started doing it because of the dev post) that you have more chance trowing different rare’s into the forge, i’ve had 2 dawns by trowing different swords in (and with different, i mean for example: orian greatsword, krait slayer, norn shaman greatsword and crafted greatsword. this way the exotic rate is also allot higher)
Btw the dawns i made around the karka event, trowing no more then 300 swords in to get 2.

Varied content so that people can choose,

Great, where was my choice then? I didn’t find anything that i really enjoyed. Oh wait, i choose to play with my guild, since this is an mmo… Guess not…

Relaxing, fun content as well as more challenging content,

There was no challenge, seriously… the hardest thing to do, with a lvl 80, was opening presents in starting zones…

No more one time events that many can’t attend.

And no more epic tales to go with them, the event was fine, it was awesome, it should just have run for a few days like twice a day, like a resetting instance, while only being able to get the reward once.

Including more cities in the event.

To what purpose exactly? This didn’t add anything but travel cost.

Fun stuff you can get by just participating..

Yes rewards to everyone that walks into lions arch, but then again, it made the rewards from actually doing something even worse.

I could really go on but I don’t think you will agree with me.

Indeed i don’t.

So you are not happy since they didnt threw precursors at your feet, is that it?
Events are there so you could have some fun in spirit of seasson, not so you could get rich in 3 days…

I already have my precursor, and i don’t care about being rich, but i do care about general lack of purpose doing these things. Haloween had stuff for everyone, it had minigames, a jp, a questline, a zone to do events in, fun open world events (not suicidal) and a dungeon, almost all of it wich i COULD do with my guild. Why isn’t that the lesson? I bought this game to be an mmo, not mario party 3…

I’d even say this isn’t even good for casuals, allot of the people in my guild are not into the game the way i am, most of our guild is based of casuals. Now i can tell you for a fact that there were allot of people struggling with having to learn all new skills or mechanics for every minigame, this in fact stopped people in my guild from getting into the snowball fights or the toypocalyps. People actually want to do stuff with the skills they have learned to play with. Giving us different skill bars for one thing may be fun, but this is not for everyone, and in Wintersday there really was an overkill of not playing with your own class abilities.

This event was great. Every level character was able to do it. That’s how it should be.
No limits for low levels.

Sure it wasn’t perfect, but it shows that ANET is going at right way with events.

Uhu every lvl character was able to do a few minigames, but that was all the event was, no quests, no events, no nothing, there are minigames in the game already, like keg brawl, i don’t see how these contribute to the event. They took the “event” part out just to make sure everyone could do everything… I don’t see what is wrong with doing stuff that is actually worth doing for people above lvl 10.

imo, guardians are one of the best classes to go full glass cannon (beserker gear, not traits) due to the number of reflections, blocks, absorptions and sources of healing we get. Those and reasonable awareness and dodging skill, we don’t go down any more than classes who are defensively specced, and deal pretty high dps.

full glass cannon is builds and traits, guardians are indeed suited to go all dps in gear, doesn’t make them full glass cannons if traits are in the valor/honor line

Hey there,

I’m a bit disappointed by this statement:

Our Wintersday event was an example of applying a lot of the lessons learned from the earlier events to ensure we create content that is inclusive, community driven, and most importantly fun. From Wintersday, we discovered still more areas we can improve for future world events to make them even more exciting.

If the wintersday event was an example of lessons learned, then i’d like these lessons to be forgotten. It was by far the worst event GW2 has seen so far. Now i do understand that with the holidays it’s not always that easy to do an event, but there were allot of mistakes made that could have been avoided, toypocalyps, presents killing low lvl peeps, frustration when other people open presents on top of you, the kitten length… I was really happy the day lions arch returned back to normal.

If anything, the haloween event should be the one to learn from, not to long, good content, pve and pvp content and loot. Fun outdoor events that could be done at any lvl, a good jumping puzzle (no easy mode), a fun minidungeon, cool rewards, cool skins, people could do everything together…
And then lost shores, the events in that one were epic, and should maybe be repeatable (but only get reward once or smth).

I feel the danger that instead of making an event that has content for any kind of player, it may go down the path that any kind of player needs to be able to do all the content in an event(wich is absolute …., i want content that i’m not able to do, cause there are people on a higher lvl then me) and with wintersday being considered the standard i fear there will be no more content aimed at me in future events.
Wintersday was just bland and boring, and tbh i didn’t feel much like doing anything of it, i finished almost everything that event had to offer in an hour, and then did the same dungeon again for a few days… And to conclude the “big finale” i did once, finished it, didn’t do it again cause i couldn’t event go in with a guild group.

Wintersday didn’t show the lessons learned from Haloween and Lost shores. I seriously hope this is not the path events will follow in the future. I was excited and had fun with Haloween and Lost Shores, i have allot of good memories from those events. I was bored and annoyed by wintersday, and there is nothing to take from it for me.

BTW everything else sounds pretty exciting.

One clue, don’t spec dps for a guardian to deal damage, you don’t loose that much dps for going full with traitlines Valor and Honor, in fact i found you barely loose any dps at all, and in return you get huge survivability, wich is much better then a warrior can get, so in the end you dps more cause you can stay in the fight. Glass cannon builds for any class are pretty stupid anyway, for that 1% more dps you can spec 20% more survivability, wich will make your dps greater for being able to stay in the actual fight longer. Guardians are masters at this. If the boss trows a red circle on the floor on top of him and you can stay in it and heal yourself trough while dpsing, you always do more in the end.

Legendaries are, in essence, an infinitely scaling item that will always be better than any future item ever made. I’m honestly baffled that people really think they can minimize this as something that isn’t a big deal, because it really, really is.

Here’s a clue, this isn’t wow, and you can get max gear by just playing the game… (As they are adding ascended to the achievement rewards) I agree it’s handy that they do go up, but it’s nothing more then that, you don’t need max gear till you are deep in the content, wich has then automaticly rewarded you with max gear. This game has never been about stats grind, and the only stat that really has to be worked for is agony, since it’s the fractal mechanic.

Now let me make this clear, you need to stop moaning. There is no problem with people who have put in a legendairy grind not having to upgrade 1 out of over 10 items, it’s never gonna make up for having spent that much in the first place. I’m halfway on the way to my legendairy now, and if i would sell everything i have i’d have around 400-500 g, wich could probally buy me any of the future max gear for about 20 times they raise it, for ALL my slots. If anything, i’m putting myself back, and will probally get my entire gear upgraded slower.

Stop complaining about people that have either spent hours and hours, or a silly amount of money, much more then you on either part, getting 1 of their items being best in slot while you need maybe a week with a new expansion to get one when they are released (legendairy grind takes months fyi). It doesn’t matter, it’s only one part of your gear. They still need to get all the other parts just like everyone else.

Stop downgrading yourself to the “i gotta have everything” and try to enjoy the game… If this is really all that matters to you, that when a new expansion comes everyone should have to put the same amount of “work” in, stop playing mmo’s. This isn’t work. Seriously…

Not sure why to some people it’s always about the reward, why can’t you just have fun? Who ruined your childhood so bad that you can’t play for entartainment anymore?

Lol nobody ruined my childhood but let’s be honest everything you do in game has a goal = profit, no matter how fun or not fun it may be. You’re not gonna do something just for sake of fun unless its your first time, after that you begin expecting some reward for your time investment and having fun while doing so. Otherwise, it becomes repetitive and less interesting. That’s why dungeons have 3 modes in the first place, and have guaranteed silver reward in the end/tokens.

You are mistaking work with video games. It is work that is goal oriented and has to result in profit. No such thing is even remotely required in my past time. The only goal I need is fun, the profit I get is relaxing after a stressful day. And while your childhood may be spoiled, which you mistake for dishonesty, I was one of the kids who used to play cops and robbers for fun, not because I could get extra pocket money out of it.

Fun does not equal profit. If you are so goal/profit oriented, go get a puppy job, go to the gym and make something of your life. There’s plenty of places for such attitudes, video games are not one of them (IMHO)

It is people like who you stop MMOs from evolving to a fun genre instead of a second job. I want MMOs to be an alternative life, a place to escape for an hour or two. I don’t want it to be more of the same.

I don’t agree, while i do feel mmo’s shouldn’t be like work i think the rewards in an MMO, especially GW2, are more then important to the gameplay, since it’s a social game.

Now i’m not talking about numbers, but the simple fact that these boss chests have a chance of a precursor higher then most stuff, is plainly stupid. These should indeed be fun and awesome events, to do once or twice and remember, or to show to other players who haven’t experienced them yet. These should however not be one of the best ways to get awesome visual weapons.

Now why does loot matter in an mmo, about the same as clothes function in a night club, you have to considder an mmo what it is, more a social hub then a game. In a social hub self-expression is at least as important. Hence people get more fun out of a nice looking piece of armor, since it helps them in this aspect. In social and multiplayer games, especially when they include coörperative modes, self-expression is a way to have great fun. Now if you do a big event like this, and only have a very small chance and therefor you do it repeatedly, it would be nice to now and then get something.

But anyway, all this kitten can be avoided if these awesome events weren’t the way to go for a precursor drop. I hope scavenger hunt solves this. Here’s the idea, if you want people to not grind themselves to death on things like this, just remove the chance an ultra rare item drops.

because you are making things up to prove your point

Lupi could be solo’d before the patch, you can’t reach him anymore btw, he’s a pretty straight forward boss when being alone, the more players the more unpredictable he becomes.

There is no thing as a good glass cannon player, good players boon up their party, increasing all dps and survivability, making the party go allot faster with allot less downtime.

You got me, I’m just a fabulist.

What getting to lupi has anything to do with ability to solo him? Your party may wait till you do it.

Glass cannon != 5 signet wars without any utility. You misunderstand the concept of glass cannon. It’s not a selfish build. It’s a build where your gear doesn’t grant you any survivability but superior damage. You still have utility skills and traits to fill in.

You can perfectly not be a glass cannon with berserker gear, it’s not about the gear, it’s about trying to max every % of damage while not thinking about other things. If you don’t do that then you don’t run glass cannon, but loads of people do this. A guardian in full berserker running an AH build isn’t glass cannon. However going full dps in traits and build, that is glass cannon and that is something noone can use. You either do one or the other, get survivability trough gear or trough traits or trough utility, the choice is yours, but not including it at all is stupid. Noone said you need to be all tanky and beefed up, but with glass cannon people usually mean all in function of offense, and that doesn’t work in this game.

The only reason glass cannon thiefs work in WvWvW is because other players just don’t have enough survivability. A glass cannon thief should always be just a free kill.

Now i’m fed up with players saying glass cannon works and then grouping with them, rezzing them 50 times in high lvl fractals and having em blame it on a bad day, if you run high end pve it’s your job to make GROUP survivability and GROUP damage as high as possible, while staying alive, basicly if your group isn’t covered in boons and the enemy isn’t weakened allmost the entire time, your group is doing something wrong. Your personal dps doesn’t even matter tbh, cause if i can do less personal dps but make the group in general’s dps go up for more then i lost, i’m in fact doing more damage.

Here’s a simple thing, you will get hit in dungeons, there is so much AOE trown around that you will take damage, full glass cannons go down in dungeons, no matter what, and slack by it. The best builds are a mix between these things. Enough to take the unavoidable hits. This has nothing to do with playstyle it has to do with common sense, full glass-cannon is not viable when doing hard content. (aka arah, fractals 20+)

So why am I not dying as a glass cannon ele or thief in arah? I’m running with other glass cannons. How could have glass cannon warrior solo’ed lupi?

This couldn’t be more wrong, there is no true dps class, and anyone going glass cannon in dungeons is letting their team down, dungeons are as much about staying alive as they are about dps, on any class.

Yet…I often see “LF 3 more xxx, high dps”, but never saw “LF 3 more xxx, high survival”…

And that’s a mindset formed by other mmo’s, but it’s not how groups work, anyone having a succesfull guild group knows this.

On the other hand, if chosen, you want groups to be able to play without people coming in, this being an actual private instance that only that group will enter. For example guilds can play these instances together, still casually if they have enough people themselves, or smaller groups can go for a real challenge. While being on the more hardcore half of the scale, the biggest problem was alway to find the exact amount of people, some day there were to many, other days there were to few. There is nothing more irritating then to either leave a good teammate/guildie out of an instance, or to take a pug or 1 person you don’t know in with a close team. If group content would be done this way, fewer players would just mean a more challenging day, and more players would mean a smoother run.

Now for a true hardcore player, doing group content 3 or 2 man and actually get rewarded for doing the near impossible, would mean so much. Now i know what you are thinking, players are gonna get cut for better rewards. To this i say, bringing another player should always be encouraged, but on the other hand, it shouldn’t be forced. Bringing another player should always give you slightly better reward/time spent. That is if you function as a group. Taking 1 pug would be a risk, while one good guildie would always benefit the group.

There is however one risk, making bosses to based on small groups, so big groups steamroll them. For designing future boss encounters, and i know i’m gonna be shouted at for this, i think bosses should have mechanics that resemble the karka roll ability. Something that can absolutely murder everyone, but where bigger numbers=bigger chance of survival. The karka event(besides the reinforcements, oh god what a drag), was one of the most fun times for my guild in GW2, why, because we saw people get massacred :p. It’s a joy to not die when 20 people around you get rolled over, and get them up, and it’s a joy for these people to actually get rezzed and learn from you. Bosses should be able to down people, but stay away from directly defeating them however, while not letting the get up on their own. For a 4 man group, 4 people going down should mean a wipe, while for a 20 man group, 15 people going down should be a mistake that can be overcome.

Let’s make one thing clear, this would be a kitten to balance properly, but the systems are in the game. I really believe if we want to see mmo’s being a tool for fun and challenge between players, we need to get away from forcing them into stuff they don’t like. If you don’t want to take a pug, then don’t, if you want to do this with your guild it should be allowed. If you want to 2 man it, go ahead an try. (and get destroyed)

Btw i do realise they won’t change anything for me, but all i can do is share ideas, i already love GW2, and i’m excited to see where the game goes in the next few years.

Feel free to post thoughts and comments,

Hey guys,

So lately there have been allot of posts about larger groups (aka raids) and especially about guild content. While i do not think GW2 is viable for a system like traditional raiding i do think that more group content, and especially guild content should be provided. But how do you tackle this without either making a guild mandatory , or taking challenge away from people who like it? This isn’t an easy excercise to make.

First let’s look at players that want to do group content. When discussing these matters, the community has created 2 stereotype groups . The casual and the hardcore.
Now i don’t like to use these terms, cause in fact there isn’t really a gap between these 2, it’s more like gradient. When we are looking at the problem with a vision of only those 2 groups, the hardcore wanting challenging content so they can be the very best (like noone ever was.) and the casual players who just want to have fun together and have a blast, this seems unable to overcome, you have to let one of those player groups down it seems, at least if you want everyone to experience your game content.
i used to think you had to earn the right to see content, what a young and foolish kid i was back then, limiting game content you make to one small group of your audience is stupid, it doesn’t serve you as a company to create stuff for a small % of your players base
Over the years i’ve been in about any demographic of mmo’s, from the hardcore heroic-difficulty-2-weekly-raids-guild to the guy that only has a few hours/week, and sometimes even none. And later again to a few hours most days.

Guildwars 2 does in my opinion tackle some problems excisting between these player bases in the exact right way. The downscaling system works, people can play with their friends of any lvl, the core of this mechanic really is amazing, and is good for all players. Another good thing scaling to the number of players around.
Now i will be the first to say that the system needs some tweeking especially when looking at rewarding outdoor pve content, scaling issues with for example death players on the ground. Notification of events also needs improvement. But the base of the system is a far better system then the model other mmo’s use to date. It doesn’t make you hate other players running in to your pve lvling and questing experience, wich is a huge improvement.

When we are looking at group content however, there is a problem with all current mmo’s. We are trying to find a middle ground that is challenging and yet not daunting to get into. I’ll tell you now, this isn’t possible. Challenge and daunting depend from player to player.

Now i believe we do have 2 main reasons to go into a group instance that i find important: challenge and fun with others. Rewards should be a way to reinforce these two aspects of group play. And this is where current mmo’s fail. Rewards are the only reason we do group content.

So don’t shoot me for this… Wait this is the internet, nvm, i’ll duck for cover after posting, fire away.

This is how i think group content could function in GW2 in the future. Take in mind, do not try to apply these systems to any of the current instances, fractals and the other dungeons are clearly made as 5-man dungeon.

So here goes, future group content should not be size bound. The reward for a group instance should always be the same, and when RNG based the same %, and be distributed over the ammount of players partaking in it. The bosses would not become more challenging with more players around, they would just recieve a slight health buff so they can’t be zerged down, larger groups however should still have the advantage of going a bit faster then small ones. Now take a while and let that sink in, i know it sounds very strange. But i think this will provide a solution to the hardcore, the casuals and everything in between. Even if you have never been in a dungeon before going in with a big group to clear it shouldn’t be to hard and shouldn’t be to focussed on you, while still providing the doing group content feel. For these kind of groups however we would need a tool for casual non-guild people to get into it, in my opinion this could be as simple as people walking in getting put into an instance with others walking in around the world, so basicly a hot join dungeon group system, wich you can enter alone or with a group. There are allot of people who don’t have the time or skill to acces the current lvl of group content, in fact there are more then you know. In this way, a player who has never played an mmo before can enjoy a good friendly instance with other people without going trough any trouble.

i’m glad almost everything can be solo’d in guild wars currently as its a pain to find a group without a LFG tool, especially if i’m not doing the flavor of the month dungeon and wish to do something obscure.

That’s what guilds are for.

Everyone – especially the developers – is hell-bent on facilitating solo players in mutli-player content. This is to the detriment of the genre and has to stop.

What is detriment to the genre is being required to have played content before you can play it. I agree some content for guilds would be nice, but then again, 90% of a player base of any themepark mmo are casuals. I find it funny, GW2 is by far the best in the MMO aspect, cause other players are actually nice to be around, they help, no mobs get tagged, no hating, no stealing and most of all no elitists getting all worked up about “noobs”, now i don’t mind giving up a restricted almost mandatory geargrind for that. The fact you can do almost everything with people not in your guild, doesn’t make it any less fun doing it with your guild. In fact you will always have more fun doing the same thing with your guild as with others. There is no stopping you from doing it, but guilds don’t do it because “a guild isn’t needed for it” while the question should be: "Wouldn’t this be allot more fun with some guildies here? Let’s set something up! "We need to get over the “but i can do it alone so why would i do it with my guild.” thing.

Guilds are their do enrich our experience not to be able to have an experience. If you don’t get that, why do you play mmo’s?

Here’s a clue, your guild got tired of mmo’s years ago.
The only reason they are still playing is a gear grind, that’s their problem, not the game’s.
Now i do agree that difficulty needs to go up in some parts, but difficulty is not the same as gear grind. Difficulty is “the game getting harder→ you need to get better at it.”
Not “the game getting harder→you need better gear.”

Also in the reward part gw2 can do better, but again, if cosmetic isn’t good enough, seriously stop playing mmo’s. Gear grind is the reason mmo’s are in this state, it’s the reason people “have to” raid every weak, wich is different from “want to”. I don’t want to be behind because i’m going on a 3 week vacation… (i don’t like fractals much tbh, because of this) Now i also don’t mind guild wide content, as long as the content is doable with 5 man aswell, for example instances that scale up, but this is hard to do. GW2 is the best i’ve seen an mmo at launch. It has issues still needing to be solved, but it certainly doesn’t need gear grind.

Both skills are really not usefull at all, and the controll promised with guardian, as the class was presented, isn’t there. Either make em work vs more, make em instant or put another skill in, atm they are broken. If no knockback the ward should at least interupt people running trough them or something,.

Seriously People “It was a developer mistake” is what you are going with?

Lets say a Brinks truck is unloading cash and leaves the door open. Is it still stealing if you take it or is it the drivers fault? Yeah ok explain that to the judge. Oh and take the soap on the rope with you.

it doesn’t really match up. It’s more like you would get arrested for picking up a 500 dollar bill on the street. I totally agree with the exploit ban with the norn cultural weapon thing, cause that was obvious, however the current exploit bans aren’t, people with just a little cash made some money, for the people with loads of cash (say 500 g) this isn’t even profitable enough, you can earn much more just playing the trading post. The problem here is that loads of people that were banned thought they had found a market gap, not an exploit.

But most enemies can, staff skill 5 and hammer skill 5 are pretty useless unless in pve… Hell the staff one is a better interupt then anything else.

Why put in these mechanics if they don’t work (most veterans and champion totally ignore it.)

Finding a recipe that gives you more mats than you used to make something is not a gap in the market. It’s a very obvious exploit, and I grant you some exploits are not as clear cut, but for you to think that something that gives more back than you use to make is not an exploit, well sir, im sorry for your genes.

read my posts, they didn’t take the initial recipe, they took the tier lower (300 one i think) and trew those in the mystic forge, they didn’t get the mats back, they only made profit on ecto’s but lost the rest of the mats.

You know what this is, Arenanet makes a mistake and sees that players won’t have to buy gems anymore so they remove em, as they are useless to them now…

Easily the silliest thing I have read today. I love how you think this is how companies work though lol. Tell me, in this company, do they also have a department for designing the ultimate Wacky Racer, and another dedicated to catching that darn pigeon?

I’m actually shocked you DONT think this is how companies work. Arenanet made a system where you can buy gold directly through them for real money, AND made gold very scarce in the game. Doesnt take a genius to see that anything that threatens the in game economy, and the scarcity of wealth is a threat to their bottom line.

Indeed, they are the ones making a mistake, and this isn’t as obvious as the karma stuff, my guildies certainly weren’t considering this an exploit. Now you can call em dumb and brainless, but they aren’t, they just thought they found a gap in the market.

It isn’t cheating, yes you could make allot of money with it if you did it first, but that’s the entire point, they did it first, i was to late and the snowflake prices had already balanced out. But it’s simple market play, it’s not exploiting…

Where is the spirit from GW1? Remember all those farms? Urgoz spiritfarm, 55, Perma sin, Obsidian tank. You could basicly make 200 k in a few hours if you were the first to go there and find it out.

It’s cheating as you are “EXPLOITING” a broken recipe to make massive gains at no cost to yourself.

Every MMo player knows that, following a patch, a vendor selling items for cheaper than they sell for = infinite gold = exploit = report and DO NOT GO NEAR IT.

Every MMo player knows that, following a patch, an NPC respawning instantly offering great drops, or has accidentally had it’s super rare drop made 100% = infinite gold = exploit = report and DO NOT GO NEAR IT.

Every MMo player knows that, following a patch, a recipe that is broken to give MASSIVE gains from little to no loss = inifinite gold = exploit = report and DO NOT GO NEAR IT.

You people really need to stop pretending you don’t understand this stuff. The developers aren’t stupid, and your continual belief that acting innocent makes it an innocent act doesn’t wash. You are still going to get banned for it, no matter who was on the toilet at the time while your brother destroyed the economy, and you were chained up so you simply couldn’t stop him, because it wasn’t your fault.

Well excuse me doctor Einstein.

I play with allot of people who just aren’t your typical mmo player. They can make money of a recipe and they do it. Now 2 of my guildies both made 50 ecto’s crafting like this, i haven’t hear from em yet, but they are normal people, who just found a way to make some ecto’s progressing towards their legendairy. I had dusk drop for me in the karka event. They made 50 ecto’s, and you can say i made 500 g(did equip the dusk), they didn’t exploit as i didn’t either. I got lucky on the karka event, they came before the curve on the trading post. A few hours later they told me about it and it was already worthless to do it because the TP had leveled prices.

Now fyi they didn’t craft the first tier of snowflake things, wich was locked already, they crafted the second highest tier and trew em in the mystic forge. I have no idea if the first tier was bugged or broken, but if they are banned for making honest crafting gold (aka second tier) it’s just stupid.

This isn’t an exploit, i didn’t use it, few of my guildies did, i’m scared for em now.

The moment people realised this could be done the snowflake prices went trough the roof and it wasn’t possible anymore. This is just smart playing of the market.

As much an exploit as being the first to buy a dusk when someone puts it on the TP for 10 gold… How bout we start banning people for buying over 9000 black lion chests a month before haloween. They quadruppeled their cash, still no exploit.

these people just outsmarted the market… Prices of snowflakes went up super fast and by the time i wanted to do it it wasn’t worth any money anymore. This isn’t an exploit, this is as a legit way to make money as buying black lion chests before haloween was, and that also doubled your input(it even multiplied my gold by 5 cause i bought loads of these at launch. I didn’t do this, cause i was to late, but common…

Level cap raise - legendary level raise too?

If I craft a legendary weapon, it’s gonna be level 80
Let’s say they open up to level 90 in the next expansion, how will that affect my legendary?

Will it become level 90? Then I won’t be able to use it until I levelup?

Will I need to make one of the new level 90 legendary?

Will there be some sort of “legendary” upgrade path? If so, will it cost several hundred golds as well?

Thanks for all info you may have

No offense, but nobody has any infos because ANet never said anything about a level cap increase. Far all we know, it can just as well stay the same for years to come. Or maybe instead of level increases we might get baby quaggans to follow us around and enhance our skills which is a thing ANet should really do now that I think about it.

this, GW1 never raised, i know this is a different game, but the only thing we do know is that they have actually confirmed legendairy’s will stay best in slot, that’s all

I don’t want “heal” “dps” “tank” and that’s it, i want my playstile to mean something and it does right now, people playing the same class can play it totally different and still do kind of simular things, it’s a personal system, instead of “if you want to dps, do this, it’s the way to go”

GW2 is about creativity and anticipation, wow is about execution.
In GW2 i change my build daily to try stuff, in Wow i changed my built when a patch nerfed the old one, or when something got buffed that surpassed the old one.
In GW2 encounters never really go the exact same way, and playing good demands you to react to what happens. In wow you try to perfect your execution to beat the boss.
I prefer GW2, but in the end it’s all personal. If you say Wow is a better game, then you are probally right, it’s a better game for you.

So wow and GW2, wich one? it’s up to you, choose, but don’t try to make them the same game, they can be different, that’s why we have this choice in the first place. I don’t want wow to die and i don’t want GW2 to die, i want to be able to freely choose where to put my time in. If GW2 goes trinity it will die, cause that’s something wow has mastered, and then we won’t have the luxury of choice.

Great how the pro-trinity people compare a WoW raid to GW2 5 mans… Yeah ok…

5man vs 5man, GW2 is more exciting. WoW 5mans were dull, too easy and not very dynamic. Stand in one spot, dps, stand in one spot, tank, stand in one spot, heal… boring.

The only thing difficult about raids is that there are more people, they don’t even have much harder mechanics, but in a bigger group it’s more likely for someone to fail.

I figured it out… All you guys that attack WoW’s combat system are the one’s who never actually raided.

WoW’s appeal was its endgame. It put an importance on placement, the direction things are facing, kill orders, REAL crowd control… It wasn’t just about numbers, but also about geography.

You weren’t playing on the idea that you have more people so someone is going to fail, when it came to raiding, you were focused on if enough people can do it right.

If you think combat in WoW was just stand there and spam buttons over and over, you’ve clearly never REALLY played WoW, especially back in its prime.

Now for 5 mans, it’s not that simple either. While trash might be somewhat laid back, you have AoE to avoid, cleaves, fights with kill orders, tons of mechanics that will just kill you if they hit you, mechanics that will kill the rest of the group if they hit you. There’s things that are going to chase you, times you’re going to need to stun things so the group can kill it… And then we have GW2… kite dodge and kill. While some of the stuff not just wow, but almost every other modern MMO has is also stuff in GW2, there’s a lot of stuff they could have done but just didn’t.

A trinity opens room to limit role while adding more ways to be challenging.

A TRULY innovative game will be able to get all those same challenges in, but without needing a trinity at all. That wasn’t this game. They just used no trinity for the sake of not having one, there’s nothing new though.

i’ve raided in wow, did ICC and dragon soul heroic all the way, finished it up in about a month each/left. wow is easy if you have a good guild. Cause like it or not, the raiding in wow is about positioning, that’s it, for example if you can tank with 1 class you can tank, the class doesn’t matter in much more then the looks and style, the role does. Not saying i didn’t enjoy myself, but right now going back to a wow like game is impossible for me, i’m enjoying myself way to much in GW2.

Now i don’t mean to disrespect wow and i still think it’s a very good game. Lots of my friends still play it. If you want a quality trinity experience please do have fun in Wow. (I really mean it, it’s the best trinity game out there, and trinity gameplay does have it’s charms, i’m not gonna deny that.)

But GW2 is designed for a non-trinity system. I personally like it better (wich is my opinion) then wow cause it actually lets me play the way i want (where in wow i was one of the few people in my guild that could tank so i had to tank since others did 500 more dps then me) Now i respect that you have doubts about wich game to pick, but please, do not try to bring them closer together. The more they are alike the more they’ll be compared and eventually one game will kill the other (wich will then be wow killing GW2 cause wow has more experience with the trinity systems)

GW2 can stand besides wow if it offers a different experience, wich some players like myself are looking for. Now it doesn’t matter how much you want a perfect mmo. Or how most people’s perfect mmo looks. There already is a near perfect trinity mmo… This game isn’t supposed to be that.

Now if i were to say what sells GW2 to me, it’s the class and weapon system, a guardian plays so different then a warrior, and changing weapons now and then is just refreshing. Simple thing is if you need every class to have certain agro mechanics so you can build a tank, and certain heal mechanics to be a full healer, classes will blend together, and won’t be as unique as i feel they are now.
