thief is op underwater, the only thing that needs fixing is the fact that mobs reset, rest is quite fun tbh
Great how the pro-trinity people compare a WoW raid to GW2 5 mans… Yeah ok…
5man vs 5man, GW2 is more exciting. WoW 5mans were dull, too easy and not very dynamic. Stand in one spot, dps, stand in one spot, tank, stand in one spot, heal… boring.
The only thing difficult about raids is that there are more people, they don’t even have much harder mechanics, but in a bigger group it’s more likely for someone to fail.
They have stated that legendairy’s will ALWAYS be top tier.
There’s a mount thread every other thread. There will most likely be no mounts in this game and if they are eventually implemented I’ll be greatly disappointed
There’s no rationale to not having mounts in the game. They would do nothing to detract from your “enjoyment” — only add to that of others.
There is, mounts make the actual character, you know the one with wich you play, less important. Noone is gonna check your armor or legendairy weapon if you sit on a Moa or dolyak, the mount will define the character, as it does in WoW now, and i don’t like that.
Imo there is no DPS roll in GW2 PvE, glass cannon builds are stupid. The people complaining probally are glass cannons that want a tank or healer to keep them up. Again, the game isn’t broken cause you can’t make a build.

i bought this game because it has no trinity, i don’t miss it and i don’t want it back, if it does come back i’m asking a refund, and i’ll not be the only one.
Do not try to change the main selling point, the no trinity does work, for good players that is. Stop blaiming your own failure on this game.
That is all.
based on my guild, wich is 80% casual that plays the amount you play, i’d say at least 80% has made it by now, and in general i think that’s about a correct number.
You have a point about droprates, but since this is about the JP, i have to say you are dead wrong. It has nothing to do with time spent, i’ve seen guildies make it on first time doing it. I had to try a bit more but i don’t care.
This is a clear case of thinking about noone but yourself and wanting everything handed to you. I think you need to accept that there are some things in games you can’t do. If we all could do everything then there is nothing to be proud about that you did it. They could have just made a bridge to walk over and called it a jumping puzzle, but where would the fun be then? Challenge equals fun, if you don’t understand that, stop gaming.
Stop asking to get rewarded for logging in.
i agree 100% with everything in this post
you can use portal guns to jump between platforms in the jumping puzzle, in case you don’t like the one you started on?
if you’ve had more hours of enjoying this then about 20 then yes, since that is the standard single player game length and even if you leave it now, this game will have served a cool experience.
if a legendairy becomes worthless because it’s on the trading post you are the problem because you only wanted it to show how awesome you are to everyone else, i’m still going for my twilight because i love the animations and effects.
Also you need a drop from fractals to get any ascended gear, so that doesn’t work as pay to win either.
Is a bought level 80 better than my hard-won level 80? It isn’t, so I don’t really mind.
In fact it’s worse, since he doesn’t have experience with the class while being faced with content that expects you do.

the problem is i’m still playing under the first major triat(14 now i guess), so traits shouldn’t matter that much tbh. And i get defeated at least once every 10 minutes…
i think the shapeshifts should be a certain number of skill uses instead of time, my 2 cents
also why would a low level person with no resist want to even do it…..
This, he gets no better loot cause loot is bound to the lvl you are, not the lvl you are in.
i do agree account lvls could be nice
They already stated this won’t be fixed in Wintersday, and that they regret it. I’ve found that with my guildies a few tries of pressing ready at the exact same time (on teamspeak) trows us together, maybe you could try this, hope it helps.
Why doesn’t anyone get that there is no reason for lower lvl players to want to do higher lvl fractals, they have mentioned the lower lvl player will recieve loot that fits his lvl… So you get the same loot as a lvl 2 at a lvl 2 or a lvl 21. But in the 21 you have agony, it’s harder and it takes allot longer FOR THE SAME LOOT as lvl 2 that is easier.
(AKA they also don’t get rings till above lvl freaking 10 themselves!!)
This tool is ment for guilds/friends to play together, as guildies lvl 2 are probally better then lvl 10 pugs (with ts/vent being a clear advantage.) If anything this makes it so you don’t have to pug anymore if you got a guild running it.
The most important thing, i repeat, there is no reason to run it higher then your lvl cause you get your lvl’s loot… The only reason would be guild/friend groups.
You get a chest for jade maw, you get a daily for your even lvl’s even if it’s an uneven for the host.
Now how is this a bad thing? This is a major step forward.
Funny how nobody read the op.
Anyway bunker guardians have been somewhat nerfed in the last patch mate, i understand it’s not enough in pvp but they nerfed the pve spinoffs aswell wich sucks, i suggest splitting pve/pvp traits and making them at least a bit more killable.
why would you want to farm higher fractals as a low lvl player, the things are more difficult and harder to complete and the loot matches your lvl, not the level you are in… There is no reason other then that you know the people in that group.
Otherwise it’s just smarter to farm lower lvl’s.
This tool has been made purely for guilds and friends to play together, it won’t do anything to the pugs. Seriously the biggest issue in fractals is being split off from your guild by lvls, and now they solve it people still find reasons to complain.
I’m disgusted, this is the best thing since release.
So i started a thief a month and a half ago, i deleted it then cause i wanted another character. Now, i’ve started a new thief, and when i compare the experience in starting lvl’s pve it’s just been set so far back.
I cannot for the love of god solo some veterans, wich are easy with other classes (i only play norns so i know the starting area trough and trough) i have problems with anything that is more then 1 normal mob, in general i feel like i’m the most ineffective class ever, this while my previous attempt leveling a thief went quite smooth and while not passing warrior or guardian played fairly easy. I’ve done this area with all the classes now, and the new thief is by far the hardest and most frustrating. And since i’ve played it after all the other you’d think i’m more skilled now then when i started (i have 2 80’s i often fractal and do all the high events, i often wvw (already got my gift of battle)) I simply don’t understand. What caused this?
I’ve seen thiefs changed because supposedly being overpowered in WvWvW, while i could kill any glass cannon thief in WvWvW no problem, sometimes a few at the time, because i simply didn’t play glass cannon myself… I hope this class hasn’t been nerfed into oblivion for all pve because of this.
Plz look at this, i’ve played all classes at low level, including thief before, this isn’t normal.
Fox
It’s a cute mini game but in no way feels like a finale. But I guess they decided to kill the idea of finales because of all the people that complained about timing. This is what you get though… no huge event finale = rather simplistic content instead.
That doesn’t make any sense though. The problem with timing could have been solved by making the huge events repeatable. They didn’t need to dumb anything down.
exactly
For me it’s my fun, and i have the same right as you to post here and defend it, i like the changes, i can actually do Grenth at least once a day now, and the lodestone drop seem to have a bigger chance(had 2 lodestones in 3 times doing it). Now they only need to make the chests worthwile, but it’s already improved and i’m having fun doing it. Thx Arenanet. Srry if this is not what you wanted.
i agree, don’t close this post, it’s a real problem!!!
then this is the point where they need to make a choice, cause anouncing it like that and then giving this is not good
“Toypocalypse
The toys in Tixx’s workshop have gone haywire! They’re trying to take over the gigantic toymaking machine in the center of the workshop, and if they succeed, Wintersday will be ruined! Defend Tixx’s present-delivering dolyaks and the gigantic toy-making machine from waves of maniacal toys in these challenging and fun events.”
This sounded like a dungeon, the mentioning of waves of enemies on these forums made me super excited.
Look, you raised expectations for this event and now loads of people are disappointed, every friend or guildie i’ve spoken to expected something else. This event is nice for being a side activity like snowball, JP and bells, but it’s been hiped to be something else, wich it is not.
What people would have liked imo:
Waves and waves of enemies inside the airship, a chest after each wave, getting better the further you get in. Group content.
I cannot grasp how disappointing this event was for both me and my guild. While you basicly had the area and content available to make something really awesome. A total missed oppertunity. :/
1 hour in CoF, CoE, HotW or any other dungeon that offers lvl 68+ rare armor pieces for 30 tokens isn’t a waste of time (assuming you can do at least one path per hour). You’re guaranteed 2 rares that you can salvage (unless they fixed this) on top of drops…. you also get a lot more coin than in fractals; fractals just has better loot potential.
one rare/hour is a waste of time
i feel an extreme lack in getting anything at all. Nothing is rewarding, even fractals is not bringing in so much tbh. And in the same time all drops are being nerfed to the ground.
Ok so this is my opinion on the boss chests.
First of all, the lower level boss chests and dragon chests have been improved since the wintersday patch. With the shatterer i actually get my drops scaled up to 80 wich is nice, same for tequatl. Most of the dragons now drop rares fairly often, so it’s actually worth going for them.
The Orr chests however are another thing. From a zone like curshed shore, wich is an endgame zone, i expect more then blues and a few greens from doing 3 events (gates of arah, grenth and melandru. People need to be given a reason to do these events. Maybe one garenteed rare item or anything, but right now getting useless stuff all the time is really a pity.
I’m not saying take RNG away, but the percentage of chance for most loot is really to rare, especially when compared to fractals.
1 hour in fractals= 4-5 rares, one hour in orr= 1 rare if lucky.
1 hour in an explorable dungeon other then fractals= a waste of time except if you want something for the tokens or if you are very lucky get a lodestone
What i would do:
-give each dungeon a way to buy lodestones with tokens
-up chances of rares from orr chests, and make chests have chance to have regular drops of lodestones.
-make ascended gear drops possible from other sources then fractals, aka orr chests, dungeon chests, dragon chests
-keep RNG but put in more reliable systems for a more guaranteed rewarding experience
I’m not saying there aren’t things to improve on, such as story, dungeon mechanics and more defining class roles.
But every single suggestion made to improve these would seriously hurt the game, are really a desire of someone who misses his old mmo’s and wants to implement his own twisted version of what he believes is fun into GW2. This game isn’t perfect, but it certainly doesn’t need what he’s suggesting. In fact the reasons it’s lacking on some parts is because it still struggles to break away from the standard mmo structure.
The 2 things wrong with GW2 atm according to me:
-The story is weak.
-You don’t feel rewarded at all for doing any content but fractals atm, wich limits the game in a huge way.
Did the grenth event change? can’t remember him doing that before
The thing is, it is not super hard by any stretch of the imagination. It is mildly difficult at best.
Personally, I loved the clocktower, but apparently, anet has given in to all the whining and made it so easy everyone will finish it now sooner or later.
So… you’re wanting people to fail? How else is someone supposed to interpret that?
So you want noone to fail? even not the guys that give up after 2 tries? or how am i supposed to interpret that?
Yes some people will fail this and yet if everyone made it this wouldn’t even be an achievement. Plz think before you speak, if you want everyone to do everything you’ll take all the challenge away, and challenge is what makes a game fun. You may as well just watch a movie if there’s no challenge…
Why don’t you accept that not every single aspect in a game needs to be completed for it to be fun? If you keep doing something that frustrates you over and over, that’s your problem, not the problem of the game.
You’re basicly saying the same as, dungeons are to hard because you died in them…
GW2 has stuff for everyone, do the stuff that is ment for your playstyle and don’t complain about content that isn’t, cause you know what, you’re not the only person in the world.
This attitude won’t stand. And it certainly won’t retain players. ArenaNet is dutifully aware of this (they see it in their metrics.)
Overcoming challenge is one thing – overcoming bad design in whats should be the most casual of casual content (Holidays) and yes – EVERYONE should be able to do it regardless of their gaming dexterity.
This is NOT a platforming game, people didn’t buy it for one and this kind of thing has to go. Immediately.
THEN DON’T DO IT
seriously the reward is 3 gifts and some crap , it’s really not worth the effort but the main reason loads of people are bashing their head against the wall now is because there is a wall to bash against, if you make a hole in that wall people will crawl trough it, and never know how good it feels to get over it. If a casual player succeeds after 40 tries and bursts into joy he’ll get much more out of it then if he just did it easy mode and made it in one try, without ever trying the hard version. To keep things interesting you need challenges. Now either go out and make it, or do something else of the 1000 fun activities in this game.
Btw bad design, yes indeed, that is why there are many more thank you for this cool stuff posts here then negative ones, on a forum that’s normally all negative, yes indeed.
I’m all for everyone having fun in the game, but the mindset of people who play MMOs these days that theyre entitled to have EVERYTHING is cancer. Its all fluff, it is time for some people to accept that something is too hard for them and move on.
This attitude is everything that’s wrong in this world.
Additionally, ANet wants to retain customers. And if a large portion of the playerbase is unhappy with something they’ll move on. I’m assuming that jumping puzzles as a concept are probably the hardest thing to accomplish in this game. And I absolutely don’t understand, why it wouldn’t be better to have varying difficulty levels for them. And I must say that I have absolutely no respect for people like you that seem to want to exclude others from having fun in a part of a video game.
I don’t care for rewards, so I would have no problem if I would get nothing for finishing it. But I must say that I also think that it’s a very stupid design decision to create a thing that doesn’t get used by most of the players because it’s too difficult for them.
Cause then you would loose the people that want to achieve something and not be treated like babies, and that’s a far bigger group then the complainers atm.
Tell me, why are you entitled to complete this puzzle? Cause you bought the game? Why don’t they make a portal at the start wich brings you to the finish then? Maybe that’s the solution?
quite simple, don’t do something you don’t like, and as long as you enjoy yourself, don’t give up
The thing is, it is not super hard by any stretch of the imagination. It is mildly difficult at best.
Personally, I loved the clocktower, but apparently, anet has given in to all the whining and made it so easy everyone will finish it now sooner or later.

how bout no?
Either practice or do smth else, you don’t have to complete every single thing in the game. I know loads of people who won’t complete this, and there is none of them asking for easy stuff, they have fun trying and then say, well it’s not for me. For the love of god, accept that there are some things you can’t do.
I’m all for everyone having fun in the game, but the mindset of people who play MMOs these days that theyre entitled to have EVERYTHING is cancer. Its all fluff, it is time for some people to accept that something is too hard for them and move on.
this, seriously
i got ori recipe from personalised
just had this aswell, i found it funny
you can move them
i welcome the fact that rings aren’t full rng now, it’s a step in the good direction
connection error detected, retrying
This is the best community i’ve seen in any mmo, believe me you just had a few bad apples.
BTW the dredge fractal is hard to complete, i don’t usually rage if people make mistakes, but they do have to listen to the people that did do it before, if they run of on their own and don’t take advice it’s their fault tbh. (not saying your case was) Community comes from trying to contribute just as wel as coming from teaching others. If one of both doesn’t happen the group fails. Fractals is designed for group coördinated tactics, if you don’t listen to anyone you don’t belong there.
I was wondering why the stuff you buy from Miyani can’t be account bound, instead of soulbound?
If I work on legendary for my main, I’d like the chance to e.g. buy the eldritch scroll for skill points bought on one alt, and perhaps crystals bought on another alt.Anyone see any problems with these being account bound instead of soulbound?
You can do this, the gifts are account bound and you only ever need 1 souldbound per gift i think. Clovers are also account bound.
The dusk i got at the karka event restored to me.
Did you just insult a god…
Seriously i love kormir to death, she is by far the best and most interresting character in the entire GW1 game. Kormir was a true leader, and you felt that.
Trahearne is a bit lame indead.
you can avoid all the undead and just run to her, they are busy fighting the lionguard anyway, then ignore em again and run back.
legendairy’s should be account bound, after all it’s something you with your entire account achieved, not the character. they should also be able to equip on any character and scale down to the stats of a gold (until there are exotics, then exotics) of that lvl. If i earn a legendairy i want to enjoy it on my entire account.
Doing Jormag in the middle of winter makes total sense, i expect him in january/february
no manticore what we are saying is that guardian is one of the best escapers in WvWvW and people keep ignoring it. We have by far the best condition removal, invunerability and damage negation. An elementalist may be able to ride the lightning, but when he gets immobalised even by a few people, it’s over for him, guardian always has another option, and is by far superior in dealing with multiple foes and running away from them (if not a zerg of 50) then ANY other class. Thiefs may be able to hide, but a guardian or ele can unhide em in a second, ele’s may be able to run, but most time the’ll die being locked down.
As for playing melee in WvWvW, do not overextend, i’m a melee guardian, and i pick up 20-30 kills in zergs without even dieing once, just because so many people are stupid, overextend and i lock em and pull em in my zerg.
There is not a single class that can run into an enemy zerg and not die, but guardian is by far the best as surviving mistakes
i don’t know the reference but i do like both of those names
My character names are much simpler
(all norn)
Fox Is Legend (my main, guardian female), Fox Ironheart (engi female), Fox The undertaker (necro male) and Fox the Havroun(black skinned shamanistic elementalist)
