Any refunds would most likely be in gems since that’s the medium of exchange used in gem store purchases, regardless of how the gems were obtained.

Personally, I never bought one of those infinite coins. I was able to earn enough of the normal ones. I still have them.

I, as well as many others, would welcome the return of the Super Adventure Box. It was quite the fun diversion (possibly another reason why it’s not back) with unique weapon skins as rewards we could work towards.

Would an aura that extends upwards from the thin ring on the ground be suitable? Not too tall but enough to make it more visible. Perhaps allow a player to select the size (and transparency) via their options.

In appearance, I envision a ring with an aura (semi-transparent) extending upwards. It could even have symbols added to the aura for enhancement and identification purposes.

Skulls for poison.
Flame for burning.
Etc.

Pretty much it could use the same symbols as conditions. Unless of course this would give too much information to the player beyond the fact that something bad is about to happen.

Edit: The same could be applied to beneficial/player AOE as well.

Finishers keep getting reset to default

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: GamerOnline.3650

GamerOnline.3650

I’m sure this isn’t supposed to happen. I keep having a similar problem where whenever I quit the finisher page on your hero panel, it resets my finisher to default but it doesn’t happen as often anymore. Keep trying, don’t give up and I’m sure it’ll be sorted soon!

I just posted on another thread something a lot like what you did/noticed here.

My workaround is to reselect my finisher again if I view them. Every time, the first time I open the hero panel (window) and view my finishers, my selection gets reset. As long as I never visit my finishers, they seem to be OK.

Finishers keep resetting

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: GamerOnline.3650

GamerOnline.3650

Here’s something I noticed. It might tie in with a lot of the finisher reset issues.

To get my results:

1. Open your hero window (helmet icon).

2. Switch to your finishers tab (under the helmet icon). You may or may not see your preference selected. Select your preference.

3. Tab back to the default hero picture screen. Notice the default finisher being reset/selected a micro second before the window goes back to the default hero display.

When you repeat your finisher selection again and tab back, your selection sticks. This reset seems to happen each time you freshly open the hero window.

Moral of the story (workaround for me): If you view your finishers (every time), make sure you tab out and back in to reselect your preference before tabbing back out a second time to keep your selection.

AFK Farmers in Silverwastes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

GamerOnline.3650

Keep in mind that some people can be AFK for legitimate reasons like a local emergency, bathroom breaks or simply falling asleep while playing.

I often play after work and have fallen asleep many times. I get booted eventually, no big deal. If someone wants to train mobs on me for their amusement, more power to them, my bad for being too sleepy. I deal with it.

There have been many times in past MMOs where I’ve ridden horses into and off cliffs. I’ve been stuck running to the bank at times too and elsewhere. Falling asleep with running toggled on (keybind setting) is like falling asleep while driving with cruise control active.

Fortunately, it hurts less when you hit a wall.

Suggestion: Bank Tab Improvements (and more)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GamerOnline.3650

GamerOnline.3650

I was thinking today after trying to organize my bank tabs that some quality of life improvements to them might be nice.

1. Let us name our bank tabs. This will help to keep things in their proper place.

2. Let us set a color for our bank tabs and names, goes with the organization concept.

3. Let us drag and drop, or otherwise select and move with keys, our bank tabs. This would save a lot of time when dealing with large quantities of items. It might be faster to move the tab than each item one by one.

4. Trash Tab. Any items we delete in the game would go here for a last chance reclaim. Items could also be dragged here from the bank. The trash could be emptied along with the daily resets with the exception of items deleted less than an hour away from the reset.

5. Bag Slots for bank storage. Allow us to purchase slots in the bank to store bags from our characters. This would make it convenient to transfer quantities of items between characters such as tools, toys and food (soulbound items not allowed). We could use these to store bags of items such as Dry Top or Silverwastes loot. Stuff we get from those areas and want to combine for the next character we take there.

That’s it for now. I might add more at a future time.

Dead players dragging everybody down.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GamerOnline.3650

GamerOnline.3650

Ok, I yield on the revive speed/zerg issue. I had thought that getting those players back into the action faster would be a good thing for those in the fight.

To those who feel that zerging would reduce the challenge, I say that removing dead players from the upscale equation by teleporting them out with the intent to downscale the event also reduces the challenge for those that still live.

So here’s another alternative idea. What if those dead players provided a cumulative event buff if their presence was still effecting the event?

Everyone wants to avenge their fallen comrades in arms! They can’t fight with us, but they can inspire us! At least until such time that we can revive them on our own. There should be no reason to punish someone for dieing by removing them against their will.

This would also end leeching since even the dead would contribute to the success of the living. Sadly, the dead would most likely not receive the best of rewards since their active participation would be less than the living.

Let reviving count toward event participation as well. Heroic healing actions under fire should also inspire others, just like our memories of the dead and need for vengeance. Those who revive should also count for the buff while not doing damage but at a reduced rate for any active pets still fighting.

Blindness - half implemented?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GamerOnline.3650

GamerOnline.3650

Dredge can’t be blinded, because they use senses other than sight to ‘see’ you.

….so why does stealth work?

If I strike a stealthed foe….. I would know that I hit something…. so why don’t damage numbers show up?

Trying to apply logic to a science fiction/fantasy videogame is pointless.

I see no reason to apply the suggested changes to the game’s blind mechanics.

Even games have their own logic and rules. Whether or not they are based on reality is another matter.

People tend to have preconceptions when it comes to science fiction and fantasy due to their exposure to it (we all know what we like or not). Guild Wars 2 takes elements from both science fiction and fantasy and mixes them together, well seasoned with lore.

The Charr have steam-punk technology, very cool! They could live without magic.

The Asura have harnessed the power of magic through golemancy and other machinery/devices. This has elements of both science and fantasy. They would be lost without either one.

These are the two races I’m most familiar with as most of my characters are asura and it’s hard to miss the Black Citadel.

The only wings my wardrobe has are the two holographic dragon styles that I don’t use anymore due to other interests.

More back skins (options!) to choose from are always a good thing!

My sylvari ranger almost always has his Toxic Spore floating over his shoulder.

Call me silly, but I think it even seems to “reflect” a bit of color from his shoulder piece as well. Helps to make it match with everything. Or maybe it’s my poor, tired eyes playing tricks on me. :p

I once told a friend of mine that all asura should come with a Zephyrite Backpack skin. Ever since the wardrobe arrived, all of mine can wear it!

My thief looks like a little sand person (Jawa) in his Hexed Outfit and Zephyrite Backpack.

What I wouldn’t give for a real skritt thief backpack (honorary or not), or a “roll your own” pack that lets you pick and choose the bits that are bound together in it.

That Jungle Explorer Outfit

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GamerOnline.3650

GamerOnline.3650

I especially like how Slyvari/Asura/Charr just clip right through the headpiece. Definitely.

Someone has to have seen these issues sometime during the design process to fit it on all races/genders, right? Did they just look at these and tell themselves, “good enough”? You did it once with the cook outfit; please figure out a way to make it look like you didn’t just release something with intentional clipping that looks passable (Asura shoes come to mind.)

Normally I wouldn’t complain about something like this … but seeing as it’s a gem item for appearances, it seems silly to not fix an issue of its appearance. Other than that, it’s a great look.

There’s nothing wrong with the Chef’s Outfit except for some sort of textural defect on the middle of the back near the waist. This is not as noticeable with dark colors or a backpack (stands out as a gray spot with Celestial).

The ears don’t clip through. The hat actually has a cord that goes under an asura’s ear to hold the hat on. It’s especially noticeable if you give each color block it’s own color and view it up close. The side toes on the shoes are even covered. This is one of the almost perfect outfits I’ve seen so far.

The Jungle Explorer’s Outfit makes my asura look fat with his maximized physique and the ears do indeed appear to clip through the hat, much like the pirate’s outfit.

I think these outfits should have their racial equivalents included for quality, like the Chef’s Outfit.

Edited to add: With regard to hiding parts of outfits, many of the newer ones only allow the head portion to be hidden. The shoulders and hands options make no difference.

Please Cap Loot! (Controversial Suggestion)

Settle it with loot quality not quantity. The more people in the immediate area the lower the quality of loot the fewer the people the greater the loot quality.

Now your zergs will be smaller.

Then along comes the zerg to grief your solo gameplay by ruining your loot quality. Much like how individual players can foil a zerg’s event-failure plan.

Emotes

One of the best games for immersive role playing I ever seen was Star Wars Galaxies. It had so many animated emotes. I think it was /tiphat that was one of my favorites on my smuggler. It went perfectly with the hat he wore.

Also moods! Your mood could be switched with a simple menu or text command and whatever your said was prefixed by your mood.

Normally when a player would speak, it was “Player says: Whatever.”

With one’s mood set to sad, it was “Player sadly says: Whatever.”

With one’s mood set to sad, one’s character also had a slump to the shoulders and a sad look on their face. They looked the part as well.

Ideally, these would provide a standard 25% movement speed increase, faster revival time and no 50% penalty for reviving while in combat.

Could include Medic’s Vengeance. Allows a downed player with the full rune set to rally and stay alive if they can complete a revival before the vengeance expires.

Standard downed penalties would still apply.

Coil Event Fail Toxicity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GamerOnline.3650

GamerOnline.3650

I just got experience this kitten piece of game design and it pretty much ruined what initially seemed like the first decently done chapter of the Season 2 Living Story for me. I’m behind on the LS because the content of the previous Season 2 chapters was so rancid, it took me this long to get up the desire to attempt the next parts. I’m already regretting it.

I actually liked the initial instance with Taimi. The mobs were actually reasonable and the content was entertaining, plus it had some nice character development. But then going to the next chapter and needing to do events in the open world/Iron Marches to advance your PRIVATE chapter in the LS was absolutely terrible. And now this chapter requiring the coil event to advance your LS upped this horrible design concept to a whole new level.

The part that really galls me was that when I first went into the zone, I saw the event so I decided to take a detour for fun and try it before I went to the NPC because the quest description doesn’t TELL YOU that is the necessary event. So I end up doing the event, then not getting any credit because I hadn’t clicked the kitten-ing NPC prior to it. So I get to waste my time waiting for it to spawn again, waste my time running with a zerg that failed it, then waste more time for it to spawn again. Yeah, really appealing gameplay there.

It’s a pity, because I did like the story development between Braham and Eir, but if seeing the sorry means going through content design like this, I may need to wait a while to wash the taste out of my mouth before trying the LS again.

As I recall, I was able to continue my Living Story episode, regardless of the succeeding or failing of the event. It was the participation in it that counted. Never did find a large enough group to succeed.

But yes, one must do what’s needed to advance the story by talking to NPCs, otherwise event participation won’t count.

The Unintended Failure that was SW?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GamerOnline.3650

GamerOnline.3650

Personally speaking. If map defense isn’t balanced, then offense shouldn’t be balanced either. If the majority of the “defenders” are gathered at one fort (for farming), then the enemy should concentrate their forces there and upscale them.

This should mean more frequent spawns, larger groups of spawns and stronger spawns. At the very least, players would need to spread out to farm and defend when needed. Searching for and opening chests during battle, especially in a hot zone, should make the enemy notice that there’s a distracted defender here and they should take advantage of the situation. Sneak attack! These enemies will track you.

Enemies in possession of a fort should be extremely possessive about anyone treasure hunting nearby.

I would suggest more and/or longer breaks in between battles but chances are the single break we have (Timeout) is probably intended to reduce prolonged large-scale farming. I get the feeling that the shovels everyone gets should all be used in a mad rush to find and loot chests before the next battle cycle.

Edited to add: If people have have enough shovels to farm during events, then they obviously don’t have enough time to use all of them. Perhaps instead of spawn changes, a timeout change could be made. Shovels used on the map during timeout could extend it by a specific amount. Though chances are there would still need to be a Timeout cap in place to allow events to continue. It could be adjusted if needed.

Perhaps chests should not be shared. This would mean you need your own shovels for your own chests. This is why we have so many shovels. One person can create loot for an entire group. Combine multiple shovels with multiple players and you have an incredible amount of potential loot with no time to collect it all. One of these should probably change.

Level scaling in PVE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

GamerOnline.3650

The downleveling is so effective now that it if wasn’t for burrows, soloing AC at 80 would be a relaxing walk in a park.

I remember in WoW, taking my high level druid into a few low level places with some lowbies to do “dungeon runs.” They wander through and collect the loot from everything I (party) kill. Not much incentive for me to do it other than being nice or if I wanted materials for crafting.

At least here in GW2, with decent gear, I can breeze through lower level zones with relative ease. It’s enough of an effort to keep me busy and I look badkitten while doing it. Low level GW2 Dungeons are still tough enough to be quite challenging.

Oddly enough, AC is level 30 but the tokens buy level 80 gear from the rewards vendor.

Edited to add: @ OP — Down leveling means that low level content will still be relevant and rewarding to me after I move on. I am down leveled, but the XP and rewards are up leveled to my true level. This means that once I reach the max level and become fully geared (exotics), I can go anywhere in the entire game world and do anything and it’s all rewarding. Since events recycle and repeat, even these are rewarding to do again and again if desired, on any map, at any level.

This is what I have been doing so far, I run around pressing left ctrl alot to see if there are any around while doing the events.

Left CTRL is your friend.

This is why I like running supply escorts. It’s a good chance to scout the field for chests and earn my event payout to boot, provided I don’t get too distracted. It can be tough with the local spawn and the escort attackers.

Why is Anet so afraid of mob loot?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GamerOnline.3650

GamerOnline.3650

The real reason they have stopped mob drops on this map is due to the ever increasing trends of maps failing events on purpose in order to continue spawning mobs and getting loot as the rewards for most are better if you fail vs. if you succeed. This has led to a plethora of issues, not the least of which is bad community members yelling at people who try to succeed. This seems to be their answer to that behavior (make it more profitable to succeed than to fail).

This works for me. Farm the events, not the mobs spawned by them. Even failing is rewarded somewhat (for killing lesser mobs presumably, the effort etc.). It’s way better to succeed.

Job-o-Trons are taking err jerbs.

This is why LA hasn’t been rebuilt. Nothing but job-performing golems that don’t pay taxes.

This is why we need asuran engineers and supervisor teams herding their construction golems. General purpose golems put to use by others aren’t as effective.

Anyone can drive a car. If you want to win a race, hire a driver and build a proper racing car.

Perhaps this could be Job-O-Tron’s ultimate job. The one golem to help organize the final rebuilding of Lion’s Arch. With his debt to society paid in full, where would he go next as a free agent?

I think they have some sort of rule about showing T but no A. Because there are plenty of tight fitting woman’s tops, but all almost all the outfits go out of their way to hide the butt.

Asura females have nothing to hide.

Which, unfortunately, is probably why so often they are forced into wearing male armor that would appear different on females of other (ex: human) races.

There needs to be a massive rebuilding event with all of the races sending in their best labor forces and engineers for a final huge organized effort at rebuilding. Lion’s Arch is a symbol of unity for all races.

Most of what is currently being rebuilt is happening in the background. We’re not a part of it. We should be.

What is a Jobotron

Not sure if this is an entirely accurate summary of Job-O-Tron’s history, but I’ll try:

Once events in South Sun quieted down, Job-O-Tron was out of a job itself (male voice = himself?).

He then became Hob-O-Tron and spent some time wandering around Queensdale, panhandling for spare change as he tried to compete with a wandering minstrel. He was constantly harassed by the local authorities.

When Scarlet invaded Divinity’s Reach, Hob-O-Tron was kidnapped and imprisoned along with others. He and the minstrel were forced to entertain Scarlet’s troops with their musical talent.

Afterwards, he and the minstrel were accused and sentenced by the authorities of being collaborators and were forced into public service. He served time in the Wintersday event of 2013 as Ho-Ho-Tron, I think. He was joined by the minstrel and the two of them offered competing Dolyak escorts. Players donated to the one they wished. No unique rewards were offered for either one (as far as I can recall), and I think that was a missed opportunity.

After that, he went to work as Heal-O-Tron, assisting the medical teams that were helping soldiers fight Scarlet’s forces. This was during the time that Evon Gnashblade was pressed into service as a military supplier as well as the final battle in the now destroyed Lion’s Arch, the war to retake the city. If you see Evon today, he comments on the results of this.

I lost track of him after that. It seems he became famous as Hob-O-Tron when the tables were turned on him and has been a recurring character ever since. I, for one, hope his legend never dies and he continues to be a part of the living story.

It’s good to see he’s put his likeness and voice to good use. I’m sure proceeds are going to help pay off his debt to society.

What the Heck Happened to Quests?

I dislike that change as well, but if it helps new players, then maybe it’s worth it. I don’t know, I don’t really understand the difficulty of feeding cows with bags of feed lying next to them…

Well, the cows aren’t smart enough to feed themselves. So it was our job to feed them. Then someone decided that it was too confusing for new players to feed the cows (those confusing, changing skill bars).

I don’t know who to feel more sorry for, the hungry cows or the player demographic that is being catered to. O_o

Game sound has always been flaky for me. I often have to force GW2 to close when the sound crashes and the game goes silent except for a low repeating background sound that I can’t identify.

Several of my mini pets seem to have missing sounds. Chickenado is among them. My Tri-Color Ooze seems silent too.

This seems to happen to me at times. Not sure if it’s related to previewing other animations or not. Personally, I think we need a better indication (more visible) of our currently selected/active Finisher.

Molten Pick bug

GamerOnline.3650

Ok, this is odd. I was playing with my camera angle, zoomed in too close to my character (asura) and a bit under chin level while mining and seen a shadowy pick appearance above his head from underneath.

Now I’m seeing my pick again (can we see other player’s picks?). Come to think of it, I think it originally disappeared when I was rotating my camera while mining.

Edit: Ok…now it’s appearing and disappearing again. As I rotate my camera.

Edit 2: The pick appears when viewed against/with the lava animation at extreme close range. Be the node.

Edit 3: Ok, what seems to be the most consistent behavior. When I rotate my camera to get my view to pass a bit inside my character’s mesh (being the node) while he’s mining with the pick in hand, I can get the pick to appear. When starting a new mining sequence (rich node), the pick is gone again unless I repeat the process of view rotation.

A chubby human

Alternative body types are always a good thing for variety’s sake. Unfortunately I have no human characters. Or charr.

However, my asura warrior is certainly bulky as can be with his body type settings.

My asura thief was once too, but his tier one racial armor (and face) made him look fat. The shoulders clipped badly and some armor pieces left missing texture/alignment gaps in various body parts. Try looking into the ear covers on the medium tier one asura racial armor sometime.

Airhead. Nothing between the ears. :p

Unless this was fixed and I missed it.

Outfits doesn't give Costume Brawl skills

The Pirate costume originally came with a wooden sword.

The Witch costume came, this year, with a magic broom.

The Hangman outfit originally came with a rather large axe (brawl toy).

The Chef’s outfit originally came with a frying pan.

There have been numerous other toys released over the years that give brawl skills. Not sure if endless tonics and potions could be counted among these.

I seen a node once inside a rock wall in Drytop. Fortunately, it was close enough to the edge to be mined.

Or maybe it was invisible.

I’m glad this was just posted recently, the forum search function failed to find it on the first page. Boggles the mind. :p

Anyway, I’m glad to see I’m not alone. I first noticed my invisible pick after receiving the Halloween update a couple of days ago. This may have been after I swapped out my gathering tools (classic/original set) to an alt and back the other day. I too now have the invisible pick with effects. I did see it appear briefly once and vanish again during a swing.

Refund character slots?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Account upgrades (character slots, bag slots, bank slots, etc.) are not eligible for refunds at this time.

Speaking of bank slots, I noticed that the Bank Slot Expansion items that are sold don’t have a limit to buy like the Materials Storage Expansion items.

Since I upgraded my bank slots directly from the bank, it was never a problem but it’s possible for someone to buy an expansion from the Gem Store and not be able to use it as far as I know.

If viewing emotes bothers some folks, they can simply be turned off in chat.

1. Click on the talk bubble icon next to the chat input to enable the chat panel.
2. On the Main tab, click on the drop down arrow next to the title.
3. Un-check the Emotes box.

This should, in theory, disable the display of all emotes in the Main chat tab and should work the same for other tabs.
