I don’t think they’re that bad when Strife is using them on his Arah clears.
There’s no possible way you would get more. Which is more effective?180 power to your self or 170 power and condition damage to up to 5 people? Even if only 2 people are effected by the Banner it’s still more effective. The only time one wouldn’t want to use Banners is in highly mobile fights like the final bosses in Molten Facility.
In the open world you shouldn’t run more than 1 Banner though because it would be hard to carry both around but 1 is pretty easy
If you like Banners, bring Banner of Discipline, can carry it around pretty easily. More than one banner in the open world probably isn’t good though.
I made an Axe/Sword build focused on using Eviscerate that was pretty fun, more interactive than a Greatsword set up as you’re using your adrenaline. I believe it was 30/10/0/0/30.
Utilities were For Great Justice, Banner of Discipline, Berserker Stance (switching Discipline out as needed for condition removal). Sword 4 does good damage when you rip it out and then hit Eviscerate>Berserker Stance. Could switch weapons in preperation to use your other burst skill (Combustive shot in your case which is a very good burst skill) then switch back to Axe/Sword. Was a fun build but I like my Greatsword/Hammer too much
Warrior’s actually have 2 good elites. Battle Standard can be great in group play for a massive damage boost, especially when combined with Banner of Strength and Banner of Discipline. However, Signet of Rage is what one should use most of the time in my opinion
Ranger has Rampage as One and Entangle, both are good. I’d say Rampage is slightly better though
Elementalist, Fiery Greatsword is good for getting around. I don’t use it much, picked it up once and did 9K with the auto-attack on my Warrior though. Tornado would be good if it pulled foes in. I’d say Glyph of Elementals is their best because you can summon a tanky Earth Elemental, a good damage Fire Elemental that gives AoE Might, and Water Elemental with a big heal
Engineer has Supply Crate, though Elixir X is good underwater.
Guardian. I like Tome of Courage, full heal and stuff can be useful. Renewed focus is probably better though I don’t know why I used to hate it
Thief has good elites
Mesmer, Timewarp is definitley their best. Mass invisibility is good for running in dungeons. I don’t know a whole lot about Mesmer though.
Necromancer has 2 good elites. Plague and Lich Form. Plague gives good AoE blind support. Lich Form has a really powerful auto-attack, if I use Blood is Power before entering I get 4-4.5K with the auto-attack
There used to be a mine kit in beta, all 5 skills were the same. You could detonate them. I don’t remember the tool belt skill. Was some-what effective, then they changed it to Throw Mine.
Reduce the heal a bit and make it work like Signet of Malice so we get healed per strike or like signet of Restoration and heal per skill used and leave it at it’s current level.
Adrenaline Surge gives the most HPS with full adrenaline
I run 20/25/0/0/25. I figure the 10% crit damage is better than 100 power and 3% damage when I’m not at full endurance. Also gain might on weapon swap.
Strength: V, IX
Arms: VI, X
Disciplne: V, VI or VII
Berserker armor/jewelery, ruby orbs. Adrenaline Surge, FGJ, Banner of Discipline, Banner of Strength (or Signet of Might), Signet of Rage. Lack of condition removal can be dangerous at times. In places with alot of conditions I bring Signet of Stamina over Strength
Best food for dungeons would probably be Bowl of Sweet and Spicy Butternut Squash Soup (100 power and 10% crit damage). It’s expensive though, so I use Bowl of Butternut Squash soup. The steak and asparagus is only good if you can keep something killed imo
Berserker weapons. Greatsword with Axe/Mace. Probably using Sigil of Force on all weapons.
I don’t use that weapon set but I’d start in Axe/Mace. Knockdown the foe before you get there, apply your 8 stacks of vulnerability switch weapons, 100 blades. With Banners/Signet of Rage/For Great Justice already active
You might be looking at condition duration
Number 2 looks best
Been tweaking my thief for a while now, this is for PvE by the way.
25/30/0/0/15. Used to be 10/30/10/0/20 but after some testing I don’t really need the initiative on stealth.
Deadly Arts: III, X|Critical Strikes: I, IX, XI| Tricks: V
Utilities are Withdraw, Assassin’s Signet, Signet of Agility, Shadow Refuge, Thieve’s Guild or Dagger Storm. Assassin’s Signet changes sometimes to Blinding Powder
Edit: Also got Duelist armor with T1 human mask, with a Ceremonial Sabre and Usoku’s Needle so I look like a ninja
(edited by Grok Krog.9581)
Yeah, and while we’re at it Ele’s need 30 in Water and 30 in Arcane right? I can’t imagine Thief without 30 in critical strikes. Not real familiar with Guardian but seems like you can’t go without the Valor and Honor lines
First, make the Burst Damage trait stat go up to 15%
Eviscerate: Is fine, just make it a 600 range leap
Arcing Slice: Applies 20 stacks of Vulnerability for 5-8 seconds, damage is fine
Earthshaker: Fine
Skull Crack: Make 3 second stun and increase damage by 25-50%
Flurry: Maybe allow the Warrior to move while using it, bleeds last 3-4 seconds instead of 2
Combustive Shot: Fine as is
Kill Shot: Another one that’s fine
I figured out what giant bosses don’t faceroll all the tiny little people smacking them. 5 target AoE limit. This is why the dragon lieutenants don’t just belly flop us or the Shadow Behemoth swing one of those huge hands across the massive ball of players
You could run Signet of Might and give 180 power to yourself. Or you can run Banner of Strength and give 170 power and condition damage to party members in range, and banners have a good radius.
You could run Signet of Fury and give 180 precision to yourself or you bring Banner of Discipline and give 170 Precision and 15% crit damage to your party.
Can also use For Great Justice to give the party 8 seconds of 20% crit chance and 25 seconds of 3 Might
Signet of Stamina and Signet of Rage are good to use. I can see Signet of Fury being useful if your build focuses on spamming your Adrenaline skill
Either Burst skills gain .5% damage per point or 1% chance per point to instantly recharge burst skills and gain 1 bar of adrenaline per point spent. Maybe make it .5%
I use both Hammer and Greatsword and have the Juggernaut even though Greatsword is my main weapon. You can build up alot of might with Greatsword and put out some huge hits with Hammer
I use my zune while playing. I listen to Bride, Eowyn, The Letter Black, King’s X, and Stryper
Healing Signet’s HPS is still less than Adrenaline Surge with a 16 second CD.
However, Signet of Rage and Stamin are both awesome, I use Healing Surge, FGJ, Signet of Stamina, Banner of Discipline, and Signet of Rage. 20/25/0/0/25 works great
29K Hundred Blades against normal foes
1.2 million Eviscerate against a poor bunny..
First, I recommend typing /wiki dungeonname (minus the asterisks), in game before you do any dungeon if you’re not familiar with it to learn what to do. Or if you prefer learning as you go thats fine
CM exploreable is pretty hard, story isn’t too bad.
AC is also pretty easy though the troll can be rough now.
As said CoF path 1 is probably the easiest once learned but your guild isn’t high enough level
TA story mode isn’t too bad, there will be some challenge, during the final fight and the spider room specifically
Best advice I can give is to go to wiki, look at the dungeons, and see which one you think your group would have the easiest time starting out with
Fire will always do the most damage, but switching attunements gives you added benefits, like those said above.
You can also start in Earth or Water magic, and use the cripple, immobilize, and chill to keep foes slowed to stay in stuff like your Lava Font and and Meteor Shower longer.
Also you get some decent survivability tools from your other attunements, like Static Field, Magnetic Aura, Geyser, and Healing Rain
I’m not sure what could be done to Signets, as generaly a Banner would be better in their place.
Signet of Might and Fury (unless you got a heavy adrenaline a build, like one that focuses on Eviscerate or Kill Shot) get outdone by Banner of Discipline and Strength
Dolyak Signet gets crushed by Banner of Defense
Signet of Stamina is very good in my opinion.
As for stances, make Endure Pain give 5 seconds of Protection when it ends, Balanced Stance is fine, Frenzy just needs to have the damage you take reduced, make Berserker Stance increase damage by 20% for half the duration or make it 10% for the full duration
(edited by Grok Krog.9581)
Warrior. It’s not the most engaging class but I love the damage I can do and the offensive buffing I can give the party with Banner of Discipline and For Great Justice
How do you get 40K with only self-given might and a WA for 20K? My Whirlwind attack usually comes out around 5K and Hundred Blades, at least in CoF does 20K at the most. 20/25/0/0/25. Armor is Berserker with Ruby Orbs, Greatsword is Berserker with Sigil of Force, 3 pieces of ascended jewelery, 2 green with Ruby Orbs. Skills are FGJ, Signet of Stamina, Banner of Discipline, Signet of Rage
I think Supply Crate is ok. Lots of heals dropped, a blast finisher, some turrets for distractions at least in PvE.
Elixir X is very bad, would be fine if Rampage and Tornado were good but they’re bad as well. So, either fix those 2 or make Elixir X give buffs, like 10 might, fury, and stability for 25 seconds
Mortar, not sure how to fix this. Right now it’s really buggy and shots won’t fire if you fire too fast. More damage is the only suggestion I can think of aside from fixing it’s glitchyness
All armor types will have the same amount of damage reduction at the same Armor level.
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/ this site can tell you how much damage reduction you will have
I recently made a Bomb build for my Engineer, 30/20/0/0/20
Explosives: III, VII, X
Firearms: II, V
Tools: III and either II or IX
Berserker armor and Cavalier jewelery, 2 runes of Altruism and the rest is Ruby Orbs. Sigil of Battle on Rifle.
Utilities: Medkit, Bomb Kit, Net Turret, Goggles
Once you start combat you can switch to Medkit for instant 8-9 might, and get 20 seconds of Fury with Medkit 5 and Goggles.
Can stack might further by placing your turret and Big ol’ Bomb then using Bombkit 2 and destroying the turret. Switch back to Rifle occassionaly to add more vulnerability and use 3 and 5. I’m only in green gear with 1 piece of Exotic armor and my bombs hit for about 2500 on crit
Edit: Used in PvE
Works with greatsword 3 and 5, sword 2, axe F1, hammer F1, and shield 4
It’s pretty powerful from my experience in PvE. Can stack alot of AoE might from all the Blast Finisher, get in some big hits with Dragon’s Tooth, Pheonix, and Churning Earth.
D/D probably does more damage, as it should since it’s a melee set. Even though you need to play S/D in melee a bit to get the full effects of the might stacking
Another good combo, Churning Earth>Lightning Flash to foe.
Instant cast skills are useable while channeling, can also use Lightning Bolt while channeling Churning Earth assuming Scepter is equipped
I’m now very afraid for Warrior..
I don’t like your change to how banner’s work.
Powerful Banners is a great idea. Banner Field is too OP
Keep banners how they work now or place them on back. Banners now have an active ability.
All these abilities are instant and have a 30 second cool down
Banner of Strength: Allies in range of this banner gain 5 might for 10 seconds.
Banner of Discipline: Inflict 5 Vulnerability on foes with in range of the banner of 8 seconds.
Banner of Defense: Allies in range gain 4 seconds of Protection.
Banner of Tactics: Allies in range are healed for 1500 + .8 Healing Power (maybe less)
Battle Standard: Allies gain Vigor and Stability for 10 seconds
Biggest possible Charr Warrior with Greatsword and Hammer
I like Claws of the Dessert, but will get those for my Thief
If you played Guild Wars 1 the Centurion’s Claws are great. Legionnare Dagger and Modniir Carver look pretty cool.
Can look at most skins here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gallery_of_daggers
Alot of the Elites need to be made Elite
Warrior: Rampage, you lose your healing skill and damage using this. Needs to give triple or quadruple power, not double.
Ele: Fiery Greatsword has it’s uses but I’ve found Glyph to be the best. Tornado needs to suck stuff in instead of blow it out and then it might be useful
Guardian: Tome of Courage is very good. Not real familiar with Wrath. Renewed Focus doesn’t have much use from my experience
Engineer: Only Supply Crate is good. Mortar needs to do more damage. Elixir X will be good if Tornado and Rampage are buffed
Necromancer: Plague is good support and decent AoE damage. Lich Form hits really hard. Flesh Golem is in the boat of all summons/pets, and needs to take less damage from AoE
Thief: I think all of thief’s elites have a use
Ranger: Rampage As One is great. Entangle can be good. Spirit needs AoE damage reduction and it will be good
I’ve never played Mesmer but who cares as long as there’s Time Warp =)
@conzar
I know Hammer isn’t the highest DPS, I’d probably use Axe/Warhorn or Axe/Sword if I didn’t want the Juggernaut so bad.
The Hammer auto-attack is stronger than Greatsword though, and skills 2/4/5 can do upwards of 5-6K damage each plus provide Weakness/CC to help support. Also, Backbreaker>Hundred Blades can be a nice combo
Guild Wars 1: Warrior Tank or DPS
Guild Wars 2: Charr Warrior DPS
Both are named Grok Krog
Guess 400 wouldn’t be too bad. I suppose I was thinking compared to our other heals it would be 100-200 HPS more
One idea I had yesterday was to give us 50-100 HP every time we gain a strike of adrenaline would give incentive to use all burst skills even with the 12% damage boost and 9% crit chance
400 HPS would be overpowered Dae, there would be no reason to run any of the other heals because even with reduced CD it’s about 70 HPS more than Healing Surge.
I do think that it needs to be increased to about 250 and give 5 seconds of Regeneration on use
Mending just needs to be a stronger heal, say 6500
Healing Surge would come out with about 20 points more HPS but it would allow stronger heals for builds that use Adrenaline more often
Orichalcum is the highest grade ore right now so don’t understand your wondering of equivalent..ness.
I do know that 500 orichalcum picks are about equal in price if you were to buy gems with gold. So it doesn’t seem worth it in my opinion
Some things I think would help Condition Damage alot are..
Conditions are now effected by damage boosts, like the Warrior’s +12% with full adrenaline
Vulnerability now increases condition damage as well.
Conditions are now effected by Quickness
Increased cap on Bleed
Only thing I wouldn’t mind seeing is 1 being made into an auto-attack
I don’t know what kind of gear you’re running but until you get used to dodging/etc. I recommend running something like Knight’s Armor and Cavalier Jewelery to get your self the maximum toughness possible and you’ll do decent damage
I run 20/25/0/0/25. Full berserker gear, Hammer/Greatsword. Major sigil of battle on Hammer and Superior Force on Greatsword
Healing Surge, For Great Justice, Signet of Stamina, Banner of Discipline.
Strength: V, IX
Arms: VI, X
Discipline: V, VI
I know they added the 1 second cool down but usually wiki is pretty accurate so I assumed. Like I said I should’ve tested before making the thread. Which can be deleted now
I just made a build for my Engineer which has been my best so far, getting 2500-3K crits with bomb auto-attack in green gear (knight’s armor and cavalier jewelery with ruby orbs, sigil of battle on berserker rifle)
It’s 30/20/0/0/20.
Explosves: III, VII, X
Firearms: II, V
Tool Kit: III, IX (can be II)
Utilities: Medkit, Bomb Kit, Net Turret, Goggles
It’s pretty active between switching to Medkit for Might/Fury, Rifle for Blunderbuss/Net Shot/Jump Shot, and Bomb Kit for your main source of damage. Can really keep something immobilized and vulnerable for your group. Not sure how it compares to some other builds but I like it
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mixed_Berry_Pie
Read the notes.
Edit: After testing (should’ve done this before posting) it does seem to have a cool down
(edited by Grok Krog.9581)
Never got the official GWAMM title but I was GWAMM as soon as I started playing Guild Wars (look at signature).
I have like 35/50 points, played Guild Wars for 2 almost 3 years. Great game, but I like Guild Wars 2 much more
