While I use Greatsword more often I love my Hammer. Hits like a truck, good CC, and has weakness. The only thing I wish is Fierce Blow/Backbreaker hit a little harder, or at least just Back Breaker. Right now they’re only a little stronger than the 3rd auto-attack in my experience
Greatsword should kill faster then a longbow. As being in melee is riskier.
If Longbow killed just as fast/faster. It would be much better to use it since you stay safe at range.
Ranged weapons advantages over melee weapons are, 1: The ability to kite foes. 2. If not able to kite, soften them up a bit before you slaughter with your melee weapon. and 3. Some boss fights you need to be at range.
On my Warrior I use Greatsword/Hammer and keep 1 of every other weapon a Warrior can equip in my Inventory. At the very top
Longbow/Rifle/Sword/Axe/Mace/Warhorn/Shield. I got organized by ranged weapons, 1 handed weapons, then off-hand weapons. When I take a swap a weapon, usually my Hammer for a ranged weapon, I make sure I re-equip said weapon when I’m done with the one I swapped to so it goes back to its spot.
Can be tedious but I don’t swap out my weapons that much

Looks like it’s intended to increase the damage but is bugged. Or was supposed to then considered too much or something and was removed from the game and not the tool tip
There’s only two things I see that are possible to fix this
1: Since the uncalled for pet damage nerf in PvE, pets should have 50-70% AoE damage reduction. At the very least in dungeons only
2: Pets don’t take damage from stuff like the laser beams/activate mines/etc. But this could cause possible exploiting
Sometimes with CC like launch if you activate your stun break too quickly it doesn’t unstun you. At least this has been my experience with some launch/knockdown effects. Maybe try waiting till the knockdown is half-over for more testing?
30/25/0/0/15 is superior I belive.
30/25/0/0/15 gives you 300 Power, 25% bonus damage with full adrenaline and bleeding foes, 10% Greatsword damage, 5% damage if using Axe/(Mace/Sword/Axe) Might on every crit (up to 24 gained from Hundred Blades if hitting 3 foes. So you gain 35 power on every crit), and 15% more Criticil Hit damage.
Banners are also used with this, when I’m the only Warrior I run both Strength and Discipline, along with For Great Justice. So thats 170 more Power/Con Damage. 170 Precision and 15% additional Crit Damage to the entire group . Can also run Warbanner to give the party 5 Stacks of Might for, Fury, and Swiftness for 60 seconds
Assuming it’s a Signet build as suggested in this thread, 30/10/0/0/30 gives. 300 Power, 15% crit chance, 10% Greatsword damage, 5% damage when using Axe/(Mace/Sword/Axe), 40 precision for each unused signet (160 Precision since 4 out of 5 signets would remain inactive. Signet of Rage is used).
Since it’s a Signet Build you’re running Healing Signet, Signet of Might (gives 180 power to yourself over 170 Power and Condition Damage to everyone), Signet of Fury (180 Precision to yourself instead of 170 Precision and 15% Crit Damage to everyone), Signet of Stamina.
So, 30/10/0/0/30 Might give more Crit chance but 30/25/0/0/15 gets it plenty high and gives more damage via party buffs/damage boosts from traits. Now 30/10/0/0/30 could be run with Banners like the other set up but I’d argue it would be better to go 30/0/0/10/30 to give nearby allies 150 power (at 2K power thats an 8% damage boost)
Woudl love for Anet to make Town Clothes wearable in combat and an option to just have the hat on with normal armor..My Warrior needs to charge into battle with a Panda or Pink Quaggan hat..thing
Edit: At Orangensaft. One of my guildies used to wear this http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Lion_Mask dyed pink on his Elementalist everywhere. You could also wear all of these http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hat

The best place my guild has found to stack ison the right pillar of the arch right before you enter the spider room. Me and my friend usually get in early to kill all the adds to make it easier. Noticed if you go in the corner next to the arch she shoots through the crack in the wall but stacking the pillar pulls her and then you just melee her down. It’s not an exploit, it’s LoS pulling
Adding my Guardian, who is modeled after Titania from Fire Emblem
Way too short a cool down for it’s potential. It already crushes Healing Surge’s HPS and if you got the shout trait it would be on a 12 second CD. It should be 25 seconds. It’s similar to Ranger’s Troll Unguent, but could be traited to 20 seconds. As it’s healing would require at least 3-4 conditions on you throughout the duration to be just as good.
I think Healing Signet is fine though, just need to raise the passive healing up to 300, scale a little better with healing power, and activated heal should be around 4500. Mending also needs to be brought up
I don’t PvP much, but with the update to blinds it does seem like it would be a big issue. I think Frenzy would be the best skill to have an “Immune to Blind” effect from a logical point of view. It lasts 6 seconds and can be traited to last 8 seconds which is a good time period to be immune to blind. Or it could just add another effect that lasts 10 seconds like Engineer’s Utility Goggles
@Nandor. In PvE I love Greatsword/Hammer. I run 30/25/0/0/15 now, all traits and stuff focus on Greatsword, but after Hundred Blades/Whirlwind Attack I like switching to Hammer and can pop 5-8K crits with 2/4/5.
I run Healing Surge/For Great Justice/Banner of Discipline/Banner of Strength/Warbanner (replace discipline or strength with OMM with another Warrior who will bring one of those banners). You basically stack alot of Might with Greatsword then switch to Hammer for big burst hits as well as CC. Running full Berserker gear
Haven’t tried it yet but when fighting bosses like the effigy in CoF on my Engineer, it’ll be a better choice than artillery barrage. I don’t use supply crate at that fight because it doesn’t really help damage wise
I personally think Slashing Power needs to affect Swords as well as Forceful Greatsword.
Slashing Power affects Greatswords and Spears, how do we slash with a Spear but not our Sword? If Forceful Greatsword can work with Spears I think it could work with Swords as well since that tree does focus on Sword/Greatsword as well as Rifle
I personally thought the Sword changes were nice. Final Thrust is basically an AoE eviscerate now. Hamstring doesn’t do as much as the old final thrust but the auto-attack is much faster now so I think it balances out.
It’s definitley not equivalent to Greatsword damage but Sword/Sword is a pretty good weapon combo now
Those are way too powerful.
Guardian Heals.
Shelter: 151 HP. Block while healing
Healing Breeze: 163 HPS. Barely heals allies
Signet of Resolve: 203 HPS. Removes a condition every 10 seconds
Engineer Heals.
Elixir H: 222 HPS. Gives random boon
Healing Turret: Heals for 5040 hitting both skills at about the same tame. Grants Regeneration. Assuming you detonate immediatley in the Water Field it gives 318 HPS + a little regeneration
Medkit: Bandage Self heals for 246 HPS. Dropping bandages takes about 2.5 second to drop all of them. 250 HPS for those but that’s alot of cast time for healing.
Ranger Heals.
Heal As One: 326 HPS
Healing Spring: 164 HPS + Regeneration if you stay in it. Also a 15 second Water Field.
Troll Unguent: Heals for 856 per second for 10 seconds. Then has 15 seconds left in it’s cool down.
Thief Heals.
Hide In Shadows: 174 HPS. Cures Burning/Poison/Bleed and also gives Regeneration and stealths you
Signet of Malice: 100 HPHit. Activated heal is 218 HPS.
Withdraw: 289 HPS. Evade and remove Cripple/Immobilize/Chill
Elementalist Heals.
Ethere Renewal. 333 HPS not counting looong cast time. Pulses 8 times over 4 seconds and removes a condition each pulse.
Glyph of Elemental Harmony: 195 HPS. Also gives a boon based on attunement
Signet of Restoration: 202 HPAttack. 131 HPS activated
Mesmer Heals.
Ether Feast: 278 HPS no Illusions. 374 HPS with 3 Illusions.
Mirror: 261 HPS. Reflects projectiles
Mantra of Recovery: Taking into account cast time, about 361 HPS
Necromancer Heals.
Consume Conditions: 209 HPS. +29 HPS per condition removed
Blood Fiend: Activated 198 HPS. While alive 926 HPAttack. Attack speed is ???
Well of Blood: 131 HPS on activation + 152 HPS for 10 seconds if you stay in it
Current Warrior Heals.
Healing Signet: 200 HPS. Activated 163 HPS
Healing Surge: 281 HPS with full Adrenaline
Mending: 222 HPS. Removes 2 conditions
Supposedly after the patch, these numbers will be 218 HPS activated, 337 HPS, 278 HPS respectively.
Your Warrior Heal Suggestions.
Healing Signet: 575 HPS. More powerful than every other heal. Activated is 1150 HPS for 6 seconds.
Healing Surge: 451 HPS. A little high, however I agree that it shouldn’t scale with Adrenaline level and should be a flat heal and the point is to use when out of adrenaline so you refill it. Not have a wasted bonus.
Mending: Without trait, 437 HPS cures 2 conditions. With trait, assuming it’s healing isn’t doubled and just gets it’s cool down reduced, 546 HPS and removes 2 conditions. Really high on the healing. I know I didn’t do any other heals traited but I don’t believe they would come close to that. Doesn’t make sense to me for it to be a Physical Skill either.
So, TL;DR. Warrior heals need a slight buff, not what you suggest
Mesmer/Necro/Elementalist wear light armor and can all use a Staff which requires two hands.
Mesmer can also use a Greatsword as another two-handed option.
Engineer wears medium armor and can use a Rifle which is two-handed.
Ranger can use a Longbow, Shortbow, and Greatsword, all two-handed weapons
Warrior: Insane damage, boosts group damage via Banner’s/Might/Fury/Vulnerability
Guardian: Does good damage while staying survivable with Altruistic Healing build. Can give party support boons as well as lots of Might via Staff
Mesmer: Good damage and with Timewarp increases the entire party’s damage by 50% for 10 seconds. Also helps stack group might via Shatters and using Signet of Inspiration
An amazing way to practice dodging is to go to Diessa Plateau and go to the little town of Naegling where there’s usually a Champion Giant. Stay at range and watch his skills and dodge them.
If you want to practice skill usage the Golems in the Heart of the Mists are good, as well as target dummies in LA.
In PvE, Warrior has great damage and decent survivability as a glass cannon. Can also mix some toughness gear with Berserker gear for more survivability if needed. And while doing all that good damage and stuff the best damage boosting utilities a Warrior has also help ally damage. Banner of Discipline/Strength/Warbanner. I don’t recommend using all 3 of those in the open world though
I always bring For Great Justice, Banner of Discipline, Banner of Strength, and Battle Standard (sometimes Signet of Rage in places like AC path 1 when I’m gonna need swiftness). I enjoy being able to go full Berserker doing insane damage then increase my own and parties damage even further using Banners.
Go to WvW. Pretend the other players on the other servers are good guys and you’re a dirt bag. Kill them while pretending to be bad guy
Edit: Dirt bag wasn’t meant as an offensive term. It’s just 9 out 10 bad guys agree that being a dirt bag is part of being a bad guy
(edited by Grok Krog.9581)
My Warrior does just fine with my Greatsword/Hammer. Only using a Longbow on bosses it’s absolutely necessary for.
As well as my Scepter/Dagger Elementalist, getting in Melee for the most Might Stacking, Sword/Pistol Thief (shortbow off-set if I take too much damage), Bomb Engineer, Sword/Focus Mesmer, Dagger/Dagger Necro, Hammer and Mace/Shield Guardian.
Some of my classes have ranged off-sets but that’s for when I get in over my head because I’m not the best player. While melee is dangerous and can take a while to learn how to live, it is perfectly viable. Range = Less risk, less damage. Melee = More risk, more damage
I don’t mind getting Ascended Armor and Weapons, but I don’t want anymore stat upgrades after that. That was one of the best thing about Guild Wars was no gear grind. Luckily in this game though, Ascended gear is only really needed if you’re into fractals. Otherwise the stats are not that much better than exotic
Are you dodging? This is the most important thing to staying alive.
As survivable as Guardian is they still need to dodge. If you’re curious about something in the game type /wiki “what you want to know about”. For example, if you’re curious about a stat you could type /wiki Power /wiki Precision etc.
The story missions always move up a level 2 after each completion, so unless you’re overleveled you won’t be on par with it 100% of the time.
For gaining XP gathering gives good XP, as well as (usually) killing yellow critters, events are one of the best ways of XP, doing hearts, and getting all the waypoints/vistas/pois for map completion.
If you want to get some combat practice. Click the dual sword icon in the top left of your screen. This will take you to the Heart of the Mists (or HotM for short). You can access all weapons/traits/weapon sigils/armor runes here and there are Golems for you to practice your moves and stuff on.
Hope this helps
NSA is watching the people of Divinity’s Reach and the IRS is targetting Queen Jennah supporters
It’s obviously Sky Pirates
That pet damage nerf better be for PvP/WvW only. It’s completely unecessary in PvE where Ranger needs some serious help. Damage would be fine but pets die too quick to AoE in dungeons. If they nerf pet damage they need to increase Ranger damage alot
Well, personally I like full Berserker, can be somewhat challenging to learn though. With your Weapon set up I’d plan your traits for 30/25/0/0/15, or 20/25/0/0/25. Picking Axe and Greatsword traits for the first one, or just Greatsword traits in the second one. Note: It’s definitley worth it to not use your adrenaline skill (unless using Eviscerate as a finisher) to keep the effects of Trait V in both Strength/Discipline active
Now if you wanna have decent defense and good damage, Berserker armor with Cavalier Jewelery is a great combo. Using Ruby Orbs on armor and either Ruby Orbs or Emerald Orbs on Jewelery for a little bit more toughness.
Since you’re playing solo I’d using Healing Surge, For Great Justice and Signet of Rage all the time, for your other 2 skills these are good options: Banner of Discipline or Banner of Strength (not both, hard to carry 2 banners around), Signet of Might, Frenzy, Endure Pain, Signet of Stamina, and Shake it Off.
Edit: Forgot, as your leveling you won’t be able to get the stats I mentioned till 60 and I think Cavalier is only at 80. While leveling if you can afford it buy armor/weapons every 10 levels mixing Power/Toughness stats if possible
Would love to see the Emerald Blade return as a Greatsword
Revivable NPC’s are considered to be in a downed state (because stuff like Battle Standard rezzes them but not dead lalies). There are some NPCs that die. Also, Charr are giant cats that can wear extremely heavy armor and swim under water, trying to use too much logic in a fantasy world is almost pointless =)
Just salvaged 3 rares and got 3 ectos (1 from 1, 2 from 1, and 0 from 1). Since I didn’t get 3 ectos per, ecto drop rates are obviously busted
If it wasn’t an error in the code then why would Arenanet come out and investigate it then announce it was a bug causing only 1 ecto at most to come out of rares.
I know there’s no problem with ectos currently becuase yesterday I salvaged my Exotic Warhorn and got 3 ectos. Also got 2 ectos from somethign else I salvaged but can’t remember. RNG is RNG
If you’re going for a defensive role and the person who does the most damage gets the most aggro, and there’s no taunts in this game. How would you get the aggro to properly defend the group?
There’s a reason more toughness = more aggro. Damage is another factor as well as being close to the enemy
First off, my small guild is awesome and wouldn’t want to play with anyone else. Always enjoy chatting with everyone.
I still gotta get some armor/weapon skins for my characters as well as some exotic armor/weapons.
I enjoy doing dungeons. I also like doing dungeons just to help someone in my guild to get them a piece of armor/weapon they want. I do some WvW occassionally.
The events Anet keeps adding are fun
I fought 2 Thieve’s in WvW one day. Was one at a time but to counter their stealth/backstab I used Earthshaker right on myself, very effective
All form change skills need help. First off, they all need to allow using your heal skill (except the norn ones). This one needs to give the same stat boosts as Lich Form, also all skills should be Physical Skills to work with the trait
To get 15 I’m sure there’s alot of Might stacking involved. When I do CoF on my Thief I don’t get more than 10K on my Pistol Whip using 2 Superior Runes of Smothering and a Powerful Potion of Flame Legion Slaying. I also use an Omnomberry Bar for more gold but the best food for more damage would be Bowl of Sweet and Spicy Butternut Squash Soup. Too expensive in my opinion though
No worries. I figured you took my advice, didn’t like it at all, or forgot about your thread completely..I forgot about it lol
I don’t understand what you’re saying. You said that we should have to constantly burn adrenaline then say the problem is we have to actively use them or.. pick them?
Well, the reason I wanted to give reason to store is because of trait V in Strength and Discipline. This gives you reason to hold it but only for a short while then burn it. I think Burst skills should have some effect for using them too so it’s not just “Use this skill so I can start building a damage boost again”
An idea I just had to make Adrenaline more interesting is, what if Adrenaline gave the Warrior a 10% damage increase for 5 seconds every time he gained a bar of adrenaline, that stacks duration. Brawn would either increase the damage gained by up to 50% (1.66% per point bringing it to a total 15%) or would increase the duration by up to 60%. Or something to those effects. Giving Warrior reason to store Adrenaline and to burn Adrenaline
Adding my Mesmer now. Named Ilyana
Not a bad copy, in my opinion. Think I need a different purple for the skirt/boots though
You’re looking at the wrong Pizza. Rare is 40%. Super is 36%. Fancy is 28%
My main is a Warrior but I do like my Engineer.
Their damage is better than what I’ve read. Running a Bomb build getting 3-3.5K on crit with the Bomb auto-attack, also giving some AoE might to nearby group members and stacking vulnerability on foes. I think Engineer isn’t as useless as people say
I’d like to see Banners have an Adrenaline skill as well, they don’t really need to go on your back at least from a PvE perspective. I could see them giving boons
Banner of Strength: Gives ? Might for 10 seconds
Banner of Discipline: Gives Fury for 6 seconds
Banner of Defense: Gives 4 seconds of Protection
Banner of Tactics: Gives 10 seconds of Regeneration
Battle Standard: Gives Retaliation for 5 seconds and Vigor for 8 seconds
Here’s my Ranger, I’ll add more characters as they’re done. It’s a Noble Mask, Tier 2 Cultural Gloves/Chest, and Boots/Legs/Shoulders are Tier 1
