Berserker Armor with Ruby Orbs(2 Superior Runes of Altruism), Cavalier Jewelery with Ruby Orbs (might just change to zerker), Berserker Rifle with a Major Sigil of Battle.

The 2 Runes and Sigil are important combined with trait X in Explosives to get an instant 8 Might just for switching to Medkit in combat.

The third utility skill I didn’t mention in my previous post is Utility Goggles. Puts alot of Vulnerability on the foe and gives Fury, which combines nicely with Medkit skill 5

Traits are 30/20/0/0/20.

Explosives: III, VII, X
Fire Arms: II, V
Tools: III, and ?

I posted the damage part of my burst combo but the full part is Net Shot>Rifle 1 (to get into combat)>Medkit/Analyze/Utility Goggles activated together>Medkit 5>Bombkit>Fire Bomb>Big Ol’ Bomb>Jump Shot>Acid Bomb>go from there making sure to keep Might Stacks stacks Vulnerability high, and getting Fury when you can

Possible new class weapons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Grok Krog.9581

Grok Krog.9581

Based on the thought of giving classes access to weapons they can’t use that are currently in game I’d give..

Warrior: Off-hand Pistol and Torch

Guardian: Off-hand Warhorn and Mace

Thief: Main-hand Axe and Off-hand Sword

Ranger: Hammer possibly and maybe Staff going on the fact that they have some magic due to their ability to summon Spirits and being in tune with Nature (and the trait tree Nature Magic)

Engineer: Mace and Hammer

Elementalist: Not sure here, they pretty much use “mage” weapons. I would like to see them dual-wield Scepters and maybe have a Main-hand sword

Necromancer: It’s not in game but I can’t think of anything but Scythe, to give them the ability to have cleave in melee. I could see the Axe auto-attack cleaving foes instead since Scythe probably won’t be added for a while

Mesmer: Main-hand Pistol

Engineer Rifle Remake

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Grok Krog.9581

Grok Krog.9581

Rifle is a very important part of my Bomb build, since it is based on power not condition damage.

I use Net Shot for Vulnerability, Blunderbuss for a nice burst attack (around 4-6K for me depending on my Might), and I love using Fire Bomb>Big Ol’ Bomb>Jump Shot (adds 3 more Vulnerability to the foe who alread has alot)>Acid Bomb from Elixir Gun. Combined with the 8 Might I have just from switching to Medkit I have 14 when Big Ol’ Bomb goes off, and it crits for 7-9K along with Jump Shots 6-7K from both hits.

If I decide to use Elixir X after Acid Bomb and I get Tornado Big Ol’ Bomb can do almost 14K. So the biggest part of my Burst comes from Jump Shot and Big Ol’ Bomb. This is for PvE, by the way.

The only thing I wish is they would make the Rifle auto-attack a 3 way spread shot like this \ | / to keep with the Shotgun feel of it

Ranger

Warrior

Necromancer/Engineer

Mesmer

Elementalist (was very hard since this was my second character and still very noob at the game)

Thief (Hardest for me because I wasn’t very good at the class till I started playing more at level 80 and now it’s my second favorite and Warrior is my favorite)

Then I also had my 2 dodges and the Mace block

How Volcanus defeated Mai Trin

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Grok Krog.9581

Grok Krog.9581

Hey all, just wanted to say my guild finally beat Mai Trin on our 5th attempt. We’re not the best players so it was a pretty tough. Now, I want to type out the epic story of how we defeated her.

Twas the night before Mai’s end. I only needed 10 gold in Elonian Wine to make Volcanus and had 13 gold on me. While usually patient I decided to splurge, greed and impatience got the better of me. I bought 40 Bottles of Elonian Wine, even though it was a bad day to buy wine. Little did I know, this was part of what would take Mai down. Overly excited for my new weapon I ping it in map chat and guild chat. Someone in map chat said “ugh, change the stats”. I agreed, Carrion was not the best for a Greatsword Warrior. So I go through all my characters. Tradgedy, not a single Transmutation Crystal. I remember that my Elementalist used my last 3 to transmute her armor.

I decided to go ahead and spend the 10 dollars I spend on Gems every month to get the Crystals. I’m now left with 600 extra. It is now the next day and before we enter the dungeons I think to myself “Maybe I’ll spend them on 2 mini packs, not much else I could use right now” then I realized that the new Living Story update is coming out soon and there will surely be new gem store items, so I held my want to spend.

We’re inside the dungeon, clearing trash easily. We get to the first cannon boss. A Guardian in the group shows a safe spot. We cheered with glee at how much easier that part was now. Next is Frizz, we get to the 3rd phase on our first attempt, but the group messes up and we go down. “Shake it Off!” and we try again. Me and my brother end up 2 manning the 3rd phase and didn’t touch the lasers. We get an achievement!

More trash is put in the garbage can and the final group is slain. Mai Trin is next, our first attempt is going ok. Group members going down and we keep rezzing strategically. We only make it to phase 2 before going down “Dangit! will we ever get this?!” I thought. Little did I realize the most epic battle in all of Guild Wars 2 was about to happen. We’re fighting Mai, the Elementalist in our group was having trouble avoiding stuff that day, even though he did so well last time. A couple of other group members fell a couple times. We make it past the second cannon phase. Luckily I had equipped Mace/Shield on my Warrior to pull back and block her Shadowstep occassionally.

We’re nearing phase 3 after my brother distracted her and I rezzed people perma-blocking her Shadowstep. Now, for what got our group every time. Phase 3 cannons. 2 of our Guardians and the Elementalist go down pretty quick, only about 30 seconds in I’d say, we use the spread tactic by the way. I realize that me and my brother must survive, I have the blocking powers to rez without fear! About 20 seconds left, I’m overwhelmed “NO! All is lost!” I watch in horror as my brother tries to solo, he’s a great guardian but not quite at that level.

Then, it occured to me. 600 gems left over, I buy a rez orb. Between Endure Pain, Shield Stance, and my Mace Block, I can last the 10 seconds easily. I get up, and start rezzing. I miss time 2 blocks in anxiousness and go down again. I buy another rez orb ASAP, watching my bro kite around barely making it. I’m at 70% health, hes nearly dead but heals “Huzzah! Just a bit longer” I said. Now, his guardian, tired, sweaty, and battleworn. Hunched over as Mai stares her down. No where left to run, no Aegis, no anything left to survive. You could see in Mai’s face a smug little grin “This is what you curiosity gets you..aasjghaskfjasdhkagjhasfkj SOMEONE IS FAR AWAY FROM ME!”. Grok rises from near death, Mace at the read to block her shot. The tired Guardian recovers, still distracting Mai as I rez the group, we take her down, then Horrik. Victory is ours!

The stars aligned for our victory last evening. It was a battle the skaalds will sing about for centuries

@Arkham. Guardian’s can use 1 handed Swords, however it’s not considered very good and that’s why he doesn’t want it to be his main due to the weapon set he likes without feeling lesser when using other weapon sets.

@mPascoal. Didn’t have to go after Jordo like that. He thought you were looking for a class that would be effective with a 1 handed sword

Now, for my reply. To be honest I don’t think you mentioned what style of play you’re looking for. Both Thief and Elementalist require alot of evasion and skillful play to stay alive. Thief has a bit more damage I’d say but Elementalist has more support. They’re both fun but I like Thief just a little bit better

Condi Warrior Late Game Viability

in Warrior

Posted by: Grok Krog.9581

Grok Krog.9581

Warrior’s can pump out some high damage conditions. For Great Justice + Battle Standard or Signet of Rage, and Banner of Strength get your condition damage really high.

I’m not real experienced as I only went to HotM once to see what it could do, but I think Sword/Sword would be more beneficial then Axe.

If fast enough you could use Impale>switch to Longbow before the Sword reaches the foe so you don’t have to wait 5-10 seconds for weapon swap. Use skill Pin Down/Longbow 2/Arcing Arrow. Then switch back to Sword to use Rip, possibly Riposte to block an attack and apply 4 more bleeds then go to town from there.

My advice might be bad though, like I said I don’t got any experience at all with a condition set up on Warrior but in my mind that combo could work very well especially if you got a Sigil of Geomancy on one of your Swords

If I remember my post correctly there’s only like 2-3 heals that get to or close to 400 HPS, Daecollo.

300 HPS is fine for a passive effect. Considering alot of heals are around that range. And the activated should be boosted by 1K and have a lower activation time.

If it’s gonna remove a condition every 10 seconds then it needs to lose it’s passive health gain and would have to become a clone of Guardian’s Signet of Resolve

3: Give us some places to farm. Anet has nerfed penitent/shelters, fish corpses, etc. There’s pretty much CoF and playing the TP for money making. Also, Champions and dungeon trash worth killing.

Champions should always drop at least 3 silver, dungeon mobs could drop 50 copper to 1 silver more often. Increase higher quality loot drop rate for these foes

I love my Bomb/Elixir Gun build.

It’s 30/20/0/0/20. Traits III, VII, and X in Explosives. II and V in Firearms. and III and ? in Tools.

Berserker Armor with 4 Ruby Orbs and 2 Superior Runes of Altruism. Cavalier’s Jewelery with Ruby Orbs (I might change to Berserker Jewelery).

Berserker Rifle with Major Sigil of Battle (Superior if you got the cash for it)

Skills: Medkit (to switch to for instant 8 Might), Bomb Kit, Elixir Gun, and Utility Goggles.

Here’s how I try to start every fight I know will last long enough for me to pull it off.

Rifle 2>1>switch to Medkit for 8 Might and skill 5>use Utility Goggles and Analyze to stack more Vulnerability/Fury>Switch to Bomb Kit>Fire Bomb>Big Ol’ Bomb>switch to Rifle>Jump Shot>switch to Elixir Gun>Acid Bomb>pretty much go with whatever from there trying to keep Might stacks up from switching to Medkit.

Your Bomb auto-attack should do ~3-3.5K solo. I’ve gotten 4-5K in a group.

Now this looks like alot but it does a ton of damage, nearby allies get 9 Might from your 2 Blast Finishers and Superior Runes of Altruism.

People say Engineer does bad damage and stuff but I found this build gives good support via Super Elixir/Blind/CC/AoE Regen/Cripple. It helps increase the groups damage alot with Vulnerability/Might Stacking. You got plenty of heals to keep yourself alive, and you do great damage

Warrior Warhorn Dungeon Build

in Warrior

Posted by: Grok Krog.9581

Grok Krog.9581

If you’re going for a Warhorn/Bow Might stacking build. I’d go 20/0/0/30/20. Taking ? and X in Strength. II, IX and either X or XI in Tactics. IV and ? in Discipline

Axe/Warhorn will get you more damage than Sword/Warhorn. The utilities I’d use would be Healing Surge (best heal + adrenaline gain if needed), For Great Justice (essential Warrior PvE skill), Banner of Strength and Discipline (if you’re the only Warrior), and I personally like Battle Standard for my Elite but Signet of Rage is good too.

Using at least 2 Banners will get you more blast finishers for Might stacking. Combustive Shot>Arcing Arrow>Banner A>Banner B>Warhorn 5.

I wouldn’t use Battle Standard as part of the Might stacking combo because of it’s cast time. But using it after words will give the group 5 stacks of Might, Fury, and Swiftness for about 60 seconds.

Could use Ruby Orbs for more damage or combine boon duration runes for longer lasting Might/Fury. Everything else I would do as Berserker though or mix some Cavalier’s/Knights in there if you’re not comfortable with no extra defense

Frost Bow is pretty good. Skill 4 does amazing damage (abotu 3K per hit on my Warrior I think). I think the auto-attack should be faster though

Lightning Hammer does great DPS and the blind is good support

Flame Axe doesn’t a whole lot of damage..better after using Fireball. Needs help I think

Earth Shield, decent damage on the auto-attack other skills could use some help though. Possibly just a damage increase on 2-3-4. And allow the ability to move while using Fortify. If need be make it like Endure Pain instead of Mist Form.

Fiery Greatsword is fine. 3 and 4 (with no target) do great damage and 5 is good too.

I wouldn’t mind seeing some traits for the Conjure weapons. Possibly a Grandmaster Trait in each tree?

Fire Magic: Fiery Greatsword/Axe additional damage to burning foes and give 50 more power and condition damage

Air Magic: Gain 3 seconds of quickness on Critical Hit with your Lightning Hammer. 45 second cool down

Earth Magic: Interrupting a foe with Earth Shield gives 5 seconds (benefit is gained for each foe affected from the pull)

Water Magic: All Frostbow Skills heal allies (auto-attack stays the same. Other skills heal for ~200 for each ally they hit/passthrough). These were made up on the spot, whether some are OP or UP is up to debate

I’d go with a 30/0/0/10/30 build if you’re using Axe/? and Longbow. Taking traits that boost your damage % in Strength, in Tactics Empower Allies, and in Discipline what suits you, but Heightened Focus as your 30 point trait.

For PvE, I don’t use utilities to help keep me alive unless needed. I’d try running For Great Justice, Signet of Might, and Banner of Discipline in the open world. Or if you’re with your wife you could bring Banner of Strength and Discipline and y’all can carry around those huge damage boosts. Also with those Banners you can fire Combustive Shot and drop them in it, as well Arcing Arrow to give 9 AoE Might.

Axe/Mace is probably the best combo to use technically but I have alot of fun with Axe/Sword when I use an Axe. Rip crits for about 5-6K and you get a block.

Hope this helps

What are your 3 biggest problems with GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Grok Krog.9581

Grok Krog.9581

1: Class Balance. They need to seperate the 3 game styles, you can’t just balance them the same way. Biggest example is the Ranger pet nerf. Pet’s are already bad in Dungeons due to how fast they die to AoE and Ranger damage is lower because of that. They didn’t need a 50% nerf on top of that.

2: Money making. There used to be some good places to farm, Penitent and Shelters, Plinx, Fish Corpse. But Anet took them out. You could get up to 6 gold an hour from the Penitent and Shelters and Fish Corpse, but that was on a really good hour. Usually about 4 gold. They didnt need to be removed. Now you either run CoF or play the Trading Post. I’d love to work towards wepaons more often but I’m pretty much restricted to daily dungeon running with my Guild in the evening. I love dungeons but I would like some other ways to make money that I can do by myself.

3: Thats about it, so I’m gonna say balance again. sPvP and PvE need vastly different balancing. WvW and PvE need less seperation but it’s still there. Don’t be afraid to split skills and traits. I know Anet didn’t want people to have to really change their playstyle no matter which game style they’re playing but it’s almost impossible to do

Using a Sigil without a cool down on your Greatsword would be easier. But you could try and wait 2-3 seconds after the Might proc to switch to your Sword. Which would be much harder to do

Edit: Also, at 2K Power you would need to keep up 3 Might Stacks from your Greatsword Sigil in order for it to be worth it compared to a Superior Sigil of Force. Of course those Might Stacks would also transfer over to your Sword.

Most bosses have AoE, via cleave effect, a spread shot, or whatever. Complete immunity would be more OP than 20% dodge chance.

I’d be fine with a 50% AoE damage reduction. And if 20% is too much it could be 10-15%

I think it should give pets a 20% chance to dodge incoming attacks or something like that
