I think it could made so “zerker all the things” is not the only way to go.
One thing, boons are a core part of the game. In Guild Wars 1 AI had enchantments (boons if you will), conditions, and hexes and you needed to prepare for it. In this one they barely use boons or conditions. Giving them boons would make boon stripping builds or skills more desired. Making it so foes have more abilities to apply conditions with would give more need to bring condition removal as well
A need for control is another issue. An AoE stun/daze is nice but it’s not required. Immobilize, Cripple, and Chill aren’t really useful at all. Adding mobs that you’d want to stay away from would make these kinds of conditions more desired. Bosses defiant also makes controlling a boss rather useless. I don’t want the right answer to fix that is but I’m sure there’s something
I think giving foes powerful heal skills would also warrant bringing Poison and interrupts, helping diversity as well.
Making condition damage builds viable is a whole other problem linked with the condition system. Namely stacking bleeds
I don’t know if all that would change anything. Zerker would probably still be best to keep burning through mobs but it might change things up a bit
Edit: I realized I didn’t talk about boss encounters really and mostly just mobs in dungeons but I think this could apply to bosses as well
Nice idea but if Ranger got dual pets Anet would just make them 75% less effective
Personally, I think it should be like the original Guild Wars. You get one pet that’s really good. Pet swapping could be replaced with another activated skill. Maybe like a pet’s “elite” skill
I’ve soloed lots of champs but the only dungeon I could solo was on my Ele in AC story mode.
Pretty much LoS pulling, using glyph of storms in earth magic, combined with the 5 seconds of invulernability from obsidian flesh + FGS to melt most foes. Hardest part was the vassar and whatever her name is
Would like to see condition damage buffed in PvE soon too.
As nice as it is seeing Berserker numbers I would like to be able to vary up my play style with a couple condition builds.
I’ve posted this in other threads but it’s the only solution I can think of which they’ve already completed have of.
Remove the cap on bleed stacks (PvE), make all bleeds combine into one big number as to not lag the system with thousands of tiny numbers flying around (this has already been done for the most part), the player with the highest condition damage would see the damage stacks other players would just be adding to the numbers he sees
Your Guardian definitley reminds me of a Paragon from Guild Wars 1, I never cared for their armor much but it’s a nice flashback. Get a thicket for an afro and you could be Koss!
Posting my Guardian’s new armor set, this will probably be my last one for now.
It’s CoE Shoulder Pads, Vigil Chest Piece, Tier 3 Norn Legs, Temple Boots, and Named armor Gloves.
I’d rather Vengeance be changed so it’s always 100% and Sweet Revenge would make it like in the original Guild Wars and give you a damage boost. Say 20-33%.
Or, leave it how it is now and make it so you just go back into the downed state with the remaining health you had last time you were there
I think the fix to defiant and making control skills more useful is after each interrupt bosses get 10-15 seconds of a stability like effect (i say stability like so that way it’s just not boon stripped and you stunlock the boss)
Go Sword/Sword and Sword/Pistol
Ranger is actually a pretty good class but needs to be played right. They’re generally not wanted in PvE due to the bearbow (combining bear pets that do almost damage with a Longbow) combo being common.
A Ranger can actually do similar damage to a Warrior played properly, I don’t know how to due this however.
With a couple traits in PvE you can help the group’s damage alot. Those traits being Spotter in Marksmanship and Vigorous Spirits in Nature Magic.
Spotter at level 80 will give allies 150 extra precision and Vigorous Spirit combined with a well placed Frost Spirit so it doesn’t die will increase damage by about 7%.
Ranger can do alot of damage with Sword mainhand. It stacks might on your pet (especially combined with Rampage as One elite skill). Which cat/bird pets are probably best for damage. Drakes aren’t bad in my opinion due to their blast finisher, being pretty tough, and having good damage still
Ele and Mesmer are both excellent melee casters.
You could use 2 Dagger’s on Elementalist which is close range, not quite melee. There’s also the Lightning Hammer build, which is one of the highest damage builds in the game.
Mesmer is great with Sword/Sword and Sword/Pistol making use of a Phantasm build. Also one of the highest (albeit single target) damage builds in the game.
I use the Lightning Hammer build on my Elementalist. The trait points are 25/25/10/10/0.
And again I use the Phantasm build on my mesmer. I forget the traits though since I don’t play her much. I believe it’s 10/20/0/15/25.
There’s more info to both of these but I figured I’d give you some options that might interest you until you’re more familiar with the game
1: So, while leveling, I buy gear every 10 levels starting at level 10. This keeps me pretty well geared for the most part. I use better stuff I get from my personal story. Everything I used to sell but now I’d salvage it because of the new essences of luck that were added. These are great in PvE as they increase your chance for better loot.
As for “salvage items” I just sell those. Worth more on the TP than what you get from salvaging
2: It’s important but not really needed. If you want better chances at good loot then you want it to be high. It’s not real practical in dungeons as lots of mobs aren’t killed but if you ever get into champion farming, it’s really good.
3: If mobs are hitting you like a truck you might need to update your armor. Ranger is one of the more survivable classes in open world PvE due to their pet
4: I know Ranger has a bad stereotype in PvE (people using bears/longbow mostly) but I really like them. They can do alot of damage with sword, give the party 7% extra damage via Frost Spirit. Depending on your pet, can give some nice boons (5 Might from Melandru’s Stalker or 15 seconds of Fury from Red Moa). I’ve read their damage is about equal to Warrior when played right.
5: As for tips. Pure damage is the preferred way to go in PvE. Because of how fast you can kill the mobs it makes any kind of defense less desireable in dungeons. Unless it’s like a Guardian’s Aegis/Protection or Reflection. But, you don’t need to be full zerker to be successful in PvE.
You’ve probably gotten good at dodging in PvP so I won’t say the usual “l2dodge”. I can’t give alot of advice for Ranger because I don’t play it much.
Edit: I can say always try to have 20 points in Marksmanship for the Spotter trait. It’s epicness
6: Yes, hitting all the champions in Queensdale can get you alot of money because of the Champion Loot Bags you get. Also since most of the champs in Queensdale are events, you get a good bit of XP and Karma.
There’s also champ farming in Frostgorge Sound. Not as many events but guaranteed exotic champ bags
I’ts hard for to decide since I love all 8 of my characters, out of the top 3 I think my thief’s new armor set takes the cake. The only thing it needs is the PvP Stalwart shoulder pads, but as far as I know there is no way to acquire them in PvE. I think Anet should make all armors obtainable in PvE and PvP
New alternate Thief set of armor: Temple Armor Helmet, Karma Armor Chest piece (the Kodan Heart Vendor in Fireheart Rise. It’s known as Enduring Coat), Viper Legs, Whispers Boots (wanted CM boots but I don’t got the tokens and hate that dungeon), and Rawhide Bracers which could be any gloves you like, really.
The only part I really wish I had is the PvP Stalwart’s Shoulders but I don’t think there’s a skin just like it in PvE.
Dyes are Midnight Green, Black, and Violet Tint
Most of my characters are female for a couple reasons.
1: The names I choose are a combination of characters or locations in other games I like (usually Fire Emblem, The Legend of Zelda, or Metroid). The better names are almost always female (taking an example from Fire Emblem, Oscar compared to Titania)
2: Guy’s get totally screwed on hair styles
It’s viable, it’s not the best but it’s viable. An axe would be the best weapon to pair with it due to the auto-attack basically being a non stop Hundred Blades. People usually pair axe with a mace though for the extra vulnerability
Really depends on the game mode. Since I mostly play PvE that will be my perspective.
1. Might
2. Fury
3. Aegis
4. Protection
5. Vigor
6. Stability
7. Regeneration
8. Swiftness
9. Retaliation
I think it’s about the same DPS to start but over time auto-attack is higher because you keep your initiative high. But with Initiative getting a buff and lower after cast you might see it used more. Who knows
I’ve seen people say Thief can do more damage than Warrior. They’re gonna be getting a nice buff on the 10th of December with the change to their Vulnerability applied on crit trait. Pistol Whip might become popular
Now it’s back up to where it was. Averaging 450-500.
I think this might work despite some issues. Wanna go ahead and thank everyone for their help
I got my Mesmer a second armor set if I didn’t feel like being an Ilyana clone. I don’t feel like finding which page I posted the old one on to compare the 2. On a different computer right now so can’t load the picture. But here’s the new set anyways
It’s a Feathered Head Piece, Acolyte Mantle, CoE chest piece, Cabalist Gloves, OoW Legs, and WvW boots.
Dyes are Green Tint, Icing, and Antique Gold. Works well with Wintersky instead of Green Tint too
Well, I’ve been playing since early release so it was installed at some point.
But I think I’ll do that..if worse comes to worse I can just do a wipe and reinstall everything
Edit: Well, installation was going fine for a while. About 90K files left, with only 1 error report. But now I’m not getting the 400-700 KB/sec i was getting. It’s less than 100. Actually, about 1 right now
(edited by Grok Krog.9581)
Right now Mending is 60 HPS behind Healing Surge and about 130 behind Healing Signet all in trade for 3 conditions removed.
I think it would be considered more useful it healed some health for each condition removed or gave Regeneration for 10 seconds
Ok, I installed it..got rid of the extra crud it installed with it..
Ran the registry thing. But in the uninstall section it still just shows everything thats in the program and features section. No GW2
How would I uninstall if it’s not in programs and features?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Having-serious-loading-issues/first#post3111805
There’s the old one.
I was getting ready to uninstall and reinstall the game actually but couldn’t find GW2 in the program and features section. The only internet security I have is Kaspersky, which I know isn’t the problem due to other people I know having the same thing.
I’ll try the repair thing real quick
Edit: Assuming I added repair to the correct part (where it says GW2 so it became GW2-repair), it didn’t do anything. Got the error report for the regular document, and locked my computer up when using the one in Program Files(x86)
(edited by Grok Krog.9581)
I made a thread here earlier describing my loading issues. Got some help and thought they were fixed but now I’m having more issues.
When ever I try to start the game now it stays at 0/0kb and if I try to exit or do anything else. It seems to lock my computer up and I have to restart it.
Should I uninstall the game or restore a previous version?
I think the main issue lies behind why all of sudden the Guild Wars 2 DAT, Application, and TMP file in Programs(x86) have a security lock on them. They aren’t read me only or anything like that. Any help would be appreciated
Edit: I have several corrupt files and 1 corrupt archive in the same file location from my crashes. Should I do anything with them?
Edit: Just tried running the game from the normal location and not as an administrator. Seems to be downloading the last update (6K files). Will update if it’s working fine. I’m so confused by all of this
and last Edit: Kept getting error reports which I sent to anet
(edited by Grok Krog.9581)
This is a thread suggesting to bring back the glitch where you could swap weapons right after using a spinning skill (like Warriors’ Axe 5 or Guardians Greatsword 2) and keep on spinning at a high rate of speed.
It gave me great enjoyment in large gatherings to rainbowify my armor and equip Volcanus and spin around everyone. My life has lost meaning now
Adrenaline has been Warrior’s thing since Guild Wars 1. Taking it away would remove some of that iconicness.
If they removed the Burst Skill as the mechanic, they would have to make weapon skills use adrenaline. Would take alot of rebalancing, utilities skill changes, and trait changes because the skills cool down would have to be adrenaline.
Which would inevitably lead to “Nerf Warriors! Too easy to gain adrenaline with X build. They’re spamming Whirlwind attack!” and “Warriors need a serious buff or I’m quitting. I can’t stay on anyone to build adrenaline because I need adrenaline to use my mobility skills. This class is seriously broken” etc.
As of right now, there are no Scythe’s in game. There are 2 weapons that look like Scythe’s but are staves.
If you want an actual Scythe, your best bet is to roll a Warrior or a Necromancer and hope Anet adds it in.
Guardian is said to have some of the highest DPS in the game with Sword/Focus. Solo it might kill a little bit slower but in a group it shines. Some defensive skills will always be wanted on Guardian, like Hold the Line (gives protection and regeneration) or Wall of Reflection. You can spec your traits, weapons, and armor all offensively though and do good damage
Step 1: Get N64 or Wii video game system.
Step 2: Buy the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time hard copy or digital copy respectively
Step 3: Play up to Kakariko Village and beat the living snot out of a Cuckoo
Step 4: Understand
This is what I use on my Warrior. CoE shoulders, Barbaric chest, named armor gloves, vigil leggings, tier 2 charr boots (can be changed if you’re not charr). Dyes are Midnight Yew, Silver, and Graphite
Necromancer is probably the best. Especially with Epidimec. Warrior has really good condition damage via sword/sword and longbow. Applying tons of burning and bleeds, and able to keep some decent burst damage with skill 3 on both weapon sets. You can also take Banner of Strength as a Warrior to get an extra 170 condition damage, not to mention all the might you can get. I think Warrior is far better off as power though
Ok, just finished the download while running as an administrator. I logged in just fine even though it took a little bit longer than normal.
Now I just hope it works fine normally and if I have to run it as an administrator every time instead, I hope I don’t have to do that massive download each time
Checked the GW2.dat file in both documents and program files but neither of them were read me only. It’s only the GW2.dat file in program files that has the security lock with it, along with GW2.application and GW2.tmp.
Still can’t get it to repair
Edit: It never finished “redownloading” like I mentioned last nite. Got an error report. Gonna try and finish the 180K files and see what happens
(edited by Grok Krog.9581)
Ok. I’ll try that..I just went into program files and found my Guild Wars 2 file has a lock on it which I’ve never seen before. What does that mean? Currently running it as an administrator from there and it’s downloading 250K+ files..almost like it’s reinstalling.
Thanks for the help
Edit: Tried your suggestion but didn’t ask me to repair. Still can’t load in. It was working fine yesterday which is the most bizarre thing. Should I try reinstalling the game?
(edited by Grok Krog.9581)
Thought the game was working normally again but now I can’t log in.
Here’s a picture of what I’m experiencing in the character log in screen. This stays up for quite a while. When I try to log in one of my characters after a minute or so of loading it sends me to the pop up message of sending the error report to anet, which I have several times.
Still think it has something to do with the halloween update as everything else on my computer runs fine unless I have Guild Wars 2 up (currently while it’s not working properly) internet is not responding and looking up files takes a bit longer.
Any info would be appreciated
So, from what I read in the first post. You want to be able to hold a point when built for damage/squishyness/burst etc. like someone who builds for healing/damage reduction/has far less damage output. Makes sense
Ele’s attunement swap is basically their weapon swap. Most of the traits in the attunement lines don’t effect that attunement specifically, but logical bonuses you’d gain from those attunements.
Like in Fire Magic there’s traits that make you do more damage to burning foes, but you don’t have to be in Fire Magic for those to take effect.
I’ve always been a fan of Scepter/Dagger or Scepter/Focus. They have great combos that let you stack lots of Might. Focus really helps with survivability if you have issues with that
As for skills, Glyph of Storms (used in Earth Magic) helps alot with surviving because it blinds alot. Lightning Hammer lets you hit like a truck and has consistent blinding. Arcane Shield is good for a few blocks. Frost Bow skill 4 can melt large groups of foes but thats about the only useful skill on it.
The best elite you have is Fiery Greatsword. Pulling foes to a wall or something you can can’t walk over, like a rock, then using skill 3 and 4 (with no target and auto-target off) will just destroy them.
For leveling I always just go full damage, to get the feel of the class in Berserker gear. But from personal experience, Elementalist and Thief were some of the harder classes for me to level so you might want to try more defense, same with traits just until you’re 80 or more familiar with the class
Hope this helps
For dungeoning, you really don’t need more than 2 Warriors in my opinion. Ele’s can do incredible damage with the Lightning Hammer build, the Lava Font build, and if you got 2 eles, knocking a boss into a wall and having 4 people obliterate him with Fiery Rush is always awesome
Hammer, the weapon with very slow dodgeable animations and not much mobility
I’d really love a giant 2 handed axe on my Warrior.
Especially if I could get one as classic looking as Urvan from Fire Emblem
You can have 2 of the same stat combination but not 2 of the exact same ring/earring.
Like, you can have Red Ring of Death and the Crystalline Band together, but not 2 Red Rings of Death
Very recently my game has been having, as the title states, serious loading issues.
On the log in screen, I’ve been waiting at least 10 minutes will the screen black, only showing my character pictures and I’ve been waiting for those to load the faces.
When I try to log in, even in Rata Sum which is where most of my characters are, it takes a long time. It’s not showing the vistas, waypoints and pois in the bottom of the load screen. The circle showing the loading process can be choppy as well.
Usually my game loads pretty quick, no issues with anything. Hoping Anet can detect whats wrong. Think it might have to do something with the Halloween update.
Full log in screen finally loaded after I finished typing this. I believe it was 15 minute or so wait
Edit: When I tried to load in the game crashed and asked me to send a report to Anet again
Edit 2: Characters on log in screen seem to be loading fine now. Still not able to play the game though
Edit 3: And a final status update, I’ve finally loaded back into the game but it’s still taking alot longer than it should
(edited by Grok Krog.9581)
Been testing it today, and what I’ve gathered so far is that if Frenzy is used after Hundred Blades, you do the damage as fast as if you activated it before Hundred Blades, the difference is you don’t swing your Greatsword as fast and you need to interrupt the animation by moving or using an attack once the damage stops otherwise you just keep swinging it not doing any damage
The only thing I really want right now for Warrior is a Greataxe that puts out the same damage as a Greatsword or main-hand Axe
I love my turrets.
When I bring my Engineer in a dungeon with the guild I have everyone stack on me, then I place my 3 turrets (healing/rocket/thumper), drop big ol’ bomb, fire bomb, then go back to pistol shield and have 6 blast finishers go off almost instantly then we go into the fight with 18 stacks of might.
Also, the new Rocket Turret toolbelt skill hits like a truck
Actually it does go into effect with hundred blades. But because Hundred Blades was activated before Frenzy it doesn’t show the damage numbers properly
Simple solution. Destroy the dust you don’t need
Well, that sucks.
Though I wonder if 30/10/0/0/30 is as good/better than 30/25/0/0/15.
Gain 15% crit damage compared to the 10% damage to bleeding foes.
15% crit chance compared to ~11%. Still keep Rending Strikes but don’t have the Greatsword trait
