The best update ever. Finally some challenge rather than spamming 1111111 (oh wait, you don’t even have to spam, you have autoattack).
Great job devs, I hope you won’t revert this back to it was.

Now it’s time to increase the reward for completing these events.

Because smacking champions with ridiculously large health pools that constantly spawn vets for ten minutes is fun.

And then the instadeath Well of Darkness pools… Bet many necros are jelly of the fact that they even do damage.

My charr Warrior specifically gets this problem. I don’t get it on any other characters, strangely.

The only thing that works to free him is a movement effect. (Warrior Sword #2, GS 3 & 5, Axe F1 for example).

Other knockback spells cause this on my warrior too, but the Risen Wizard’s putrid gust is one I come across pretty frequently.

I have noticed that after being knocked back, he’s often stuck slightly physically clipped into the ground.

Rox' Quiver on Charr

I’ve held off on purchasing the quiver for my Charr ranger, because I noticed this in the store preview.

Other back slots look fine – guild backpacks for example look perfectly fine on my ranger.

I find it funny that the original quiver was placed on a Charr character, yet Charr players seem to have the most issues with it

I’d be annoyed to the point of wanting a refund of some sort too.

I finally have indisputable proof that (Charr) rangers are infact deadly masters of the martial arts.

How my ranger is able to to block any attack with the aegis shield positioned behind his elbow and oriented the wrong way is beyond me, but clearly a sign of a lifetime of dedicated training and mastery.

I have played a charr for over 1000 hours and I can confirm there has been an update to the charr running animation while in combat AND with the weapon sheathed. Before hand, they ran in a lanky weird fashion, now they run in a slow hulk run, like a football player :o Thanks, Anet, love the new animation! Now revert the Elementalist nerf and give us more viable builds! Also, fix the Rune of Vampirism, I am so freaking srs.

The football player effect is exactly why I dislike it, personally.

I mean it’s great for my Charr Warrior. But when my thinly built scrawny female Elementalist does the same thing…

The old one was a cool brisk jog, where the new one makes me think I should have a football in my hands at all times.

I was going to create a new thread on the ridiculousness of some of the event scaled mobs in Orr, but caught this thread first.

I’ll let these screenshots speak for themselves, but first a bit of intro: Just finished defending Shelter’s Gate as part of the event. Had to deal with Vet Risen spiders that annoyingly spammed pulls and hit for 15k+ damage. Cool, whatever.

Event ends, just as a new Champion Spider wave arrives on the scene, and for whatever reason it does not despawn… For the next five minutes, the random assortment of players at Shelter’s gate fought this monstrosity, and it’s veteran hatchling kin. It took nearly as long to kill this single Champion as it did to finish the event that spawned it.

If that’s not broken, I don’t know what is. This applies to spiders elsewhere as well – Grenth is nearly impossible now as the new AoE spider pull is pretty much a garunteed insta gib on Jonez.

Vet/Champ chicken explosions are crazy now too. During defend Penitent Camp, a dead chicken took out about seven people at ridiculous ranges. I can understand making their death explosions more severe, but why increase the range too?

I’m curious what’s with all these unannounced changes? Tons of things don’t make it into patch notes…

I despise the new animation. Maybe it’ll come to grow on me or something, but I doubt it.

I loved the old animation for the very reason that it was bouncy and perhaps a little comedic. This is after all, an MMO that doesn’t overly take itself too seriously, which I’ve always loved.

I stow weapons out of habit. I guess I’ll have to avoid this now, just to not see the new animation…

Kits are the engineer’s weapon swap. Some kits offer better skills for different purposes, and you can, get this, trait for those kits in various ways as if they were a main weapon.

Elixir Gun is also quite useful underwater. I used it as my go to weapon set while leveling, and before they changed underwater nades.

Harpoon gun is actually decent when traited…. though ‘decent’ at best, whereas grenades are simply amazing.

Edit: I feel I should mention that bombs are quite good underwater as well. (in PVE at least) I personally find myself using bombs more underwater than on land, and the best part is, they don’t practically have a required GM trait to use, like grenades.

That seems to be an issue with specific skills rather than just not stacking. Specifically 4 on focus for mesmer. Never heard of anything else not stacking swiftness.

Guardian Staff 3 also does not stack swiftness correctly. If you already have swiftness, it won’t apply the correct duration from the skill.

I’ve made it a habit to actually look at my elite slot now, to see if it’s actually on cooldown if I’ve been stunned etc anywhere near the time I’m casting.

If you have baubles to spare (and you should if you’ve been speed running a bit) this is definitely the way to go.

When I’m doing this normally though, I always wait for him to begin the animation and once he opens his mouth, I click to target, and toss a shard.

There seems to be some odd limit to the range, so I like to make sure I’m in the center large lilypad.

I agree with developers Grenade Kit needs to be nerfed.

Er… from what I saw, they stated that they wanted to bring other options up to par, not bring existing options down. (Words which I’ll take with a grain of salt)

Wow… it for some reason didn’t even occur to me that this would mean Medkit/H/Healing Turret would be unavailable too while in Elixir S. That to me is a big nerf.

Not KR nerf level but… just ugh.

Edit: Meanwhile in elementalist land: water attunement – mist form – dodge. That’s regen, soothing mists, cleansing wave on evasive arcana dodge while invulnerable. Will this no longer be available with the proposed mist form changes?

With traits crits can: Bleed, burn, and cause vuln. Then there’s on crit sigils…

Flamethrower and Elixir Gun 3 pulse multiple times, with each pulse capable of critting. Then there’s three grenades per toss which can all crit… So yeah, Precision is pretty great.

Explosives traits can make explosions apply additional bleeds and vulnerability non crit.

I can’t give much leveling advice, but I will say this about grenades: They’re best used at medium-short range. They’re excellent at AoE, and it’s much easier to aoe things down at short to point blank range, when ‘skill shots’ are out of the picture.

Bombs are quite strong in PvE since mobs will never really run away from them unless aggro switches.

On stat advice: I prefer toughness as the third stat. Both because it’s so readily found on Rabid gear, and because engineers can self heal quite well, taking advantage of the small health pool.

I will miss the ability to use utilities in Elixir S shrinkage form. To be fair, it seemed a tad bit broken, particularly with the old multikit builds – honestly gave us the best form of invulnerability in the game.

You mean something like the Mesmer’s distortion?

Blurred frenzy obviously locks the Mesmer down. Distortion via shatter is a maximum of 3 seconds no? Can potentially get 5 seconds from a single Elixir S.

I don’t play a mesmer so I wouldn’t know though.

I made a post here on this thread about it.

I’ve had this issue for as long as I’ve been playing this game.

I’ve never thought of it as a ‘gunshot’ sound. But I suppose it’s as friggen loud as one.

Whatever it is, the ingame volume slider does not affect it. It’s played seemingly at maximum volume. As a result, when I play GW2, I kick down my system volume.

It’s honestly one of my favorite event chains in terms of atmosphere and setting fun. I mean you’re fighting at the heart of a volcano.

Maelstrom itself is one of my favorite zones honestly. Three large dynamic chain events off the top of my head, the dungeon, Golem MK II, Megadestroyer.

A lot of people say that the reason Megadestroyer doesn’t have the daily is due to another boss in the zone already having one. There’s no seeming lack of people doing Megadestroyer, even without the rewards though, atleast on Tarnished Coast.

Golem MK II is cool and all, but Megadestroyer always felt more of a proper ‘zone boss’ fight to me.

Indeed, as others have said it’s possible to see 13-16 stacks of confusion if everything goes right. The catch is, for toolkit 3 to work, you have to be in melee range. For bomb to work they have to stay in melee range long enough for it to go off.

Static Shot is nice as it can bounce off multiple targets, applying double the amount of confusion it would on a single target.

  • Might duration no longer stacks with multiple runes.
  • Static Discharge: 2s Internal cool down.
  • 409: 10s internal cool down.
  • Shrapnel Grande: Reduce Bleed duration 4-6s.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fix “miss” from blow torch/FT (Again)
  • Flame Turret now works properly with Deployable Turrets.

Heard that they are not working on Gadgets. Turrets just received a “MASSIVE” buff and FT/EG have been nerfed too much so they will most likely be left alone. leaving very little room for “buffs”. Any buff’s will be completely unpredictable &unexpected at this point.

I was working on my own reply, but noticed your list pretty much sums up exactly what I expect to see.

I very much doubt they’ll revert HgH back to 1 stack. Much more likely is that they’ll tweak our ability to proc runes and sigils so easily.

I can see the 409 change too, I just pray it’s not more than 10 seconds.

As much as I hope they leave Static Shot alone, I have a feeling they might do something to it as well.

Edit: Can’t forget – Scope: still not fixed.

Golem Mark II

My group took it down in under 2 minutes, and we were a small group — around eight players.

Exactly my point. A friend mentioned to me that he died insanely fast the last time he did it, then when I did Golem MK II next, it took well over 8 minutes with about 10 people. Longer than even Teq on average…

Someone even had time to run from the CoE entrance, having just finished the Commander there, when the Golem was only at about 35% hp.

Win 7 64 bit here, alt tabbing in and out of the game works fine for me, in full screen. Even (double? a single click is all that’s required, but I tried both for argument’s sake) clicking it on my taskbar.

I prefer playing the game in windowed fullscreen though personally – there’s virtually no recovery time from tabbing out, even if it does make the game slightly more resource intensive.

The real dialogue gems in this game are from talking with NPCS. The non cutscene dialogue.

You’ll miss out on a lot of great stuff if you don’t bother to talk with characters out in the world and in instances and such.

Killing Enemy While Down is NOT Reviving You

Just something to keep in mind, if it’s a ‘lesser’ mob – ie one spawned as filler of sorts, you won’t be able to rally off of it. These mobs exist in some personal story instances, Fractals and seemingly some fights in Orr.

Good rule of thumb: If you can’t ever loot or build a sigil stack off of it, you can’t rally off of it.

Some static objects are an exception to this rule obviously.

I’ve had this issue for a long time as well. I’ve bound keys to target nearest enemy, and also to target next/previous targets. Just a tip to help alleviate it in the meantime.

Annoying Sound Bug

Since making clearing my local.dat file a routine every so often (or perhaps due to the patches), I no longer get the bug with the sound overloading and no sound in the game.

However, I still very often get an annoying issue where I’ll hear a random sound played at extreme volumes. There’s no seeming trigger, and I can’t seem to find any commonality, just, every once in a while, I’ll hear a noise of horrendous volume. A loud pop or crack, or seemingly part of a random game sound.

I play the game with the volume slider at maybe 10% maximum with system volume at about 40%, but this noise whatever it is, seems to completely ignore my ingame volume settings.

This has been a recurring issue for me since release.

Realtek onboard audio, Win 7 if it matters. 95% of the time I play the game in Windowed fullscreen. I do tab a lot, and most of the time I have music from other sources on. (local Media players, Pandora/Youtube etc)

I occasionally get this as well, usually when I’ve been tabbing a lot/have a lot of background processes running. Some of the time, I’m able to recover from it by just waiting.

It has cost me event participation more than once though.

I noticed this too. The last time I was in Timberline, I ran in and snagged the skill point without aggroing, since it was the dead of night and few people were on to do the event.

I didn’t really question it, but I suppose it’s probably indeed a bug.

Even porting to a WP, I’d say I only ever make it to SB in time maybe 70% of the time. As a result, I’ve resorted to not doing the three portal events spread out anymore, or just doing one and hoping it’s not the last one done.

I’ve never noticed any issues with Maw. The Shaman seems to last pretty long to me, I usually even have time to loot the ice elemental corpses around the portals. Maybe an event scaling issue?

Anyone notice some strange inconsistencies with his HP?

I once duo’d him in like five minutes. And my ranger wasn’t damage built at all…

Another time, a group of about 15 took seemingly forever to kill him. And then another group of about the same size took less than 4 minutes.

Also on a slightly different note: His static cripple fields interestingly will for some reason also immobilize Warriors with the leg specialist trait.

This seems to get progressively worse as the supplies are destroyed.

At one supply remaining, the Risen seem to spawn incredibly quickly – I’ve once fought non stop for nearly an hour. No lack of people spread out, or killing the risen either.

I’m impressed once they fix the plethora of profession/skill bugs.

Sadly as is, actually making things work would cause a whole lot of new options and builds to open up, which would require them to rework/balance a lot of classes and trait mechanics that are suddenly popularized.

It’s pretty bad when they leave certain things broken for so long that once they’re fixed, they’re treated as a ‘buff’ to that particular class. coughengineerclasshistorycough

I see, I actually wouldn’t mind if they just left it as it is and only changed the skill descriptions. It’s just annoying to wait for a fix that’ll probably never happen.

I’d like to see the ‘Scope’ trait description, for engineers then. “Does nothing actually, sorry. Use another Master Tools trait.”

I believe there’s some degree of natural progression, when it comes to build choices.

Back in the heydey of multikit builds, I was playing around with my traits when I discovered the joys of Kit Refinement. (I actually was testing out a static discharge build I believe). After I discovered it’s potential, I felt free to spec into Explosives fully, used nades as my primary damage, along with the utility and support of EG. Third slot was often toolkit for it’s must have in PvP. Suddenly there are videos of the infamous ‘100nade’ build everywhere, doing something I’d been doing for some time. (Mostly in PvE, granted).

I used a more boon oriented build, which happened to be much like the ‘Sickman’ build, which itself was technically a variation of what was more or less the infamous 100nades build.

More faces, hairs, horns etc... - When?

Rox’s horns are available to female charr currently, although they don’t size scale at the moment.

I’m personally not crazy about the horns, particularly since we can’t color the material at their base, but it’s good to see some new stuff. I hope we see the hair added though.

Dome event is bugged ( Devona's Rest)

It seems like every time I visit the area, the event is stuck at this point.

In all my time playing since release, I’ve only actually seen Dome through to the end maybe twice.
