Guild Halls Done Right

And this is why myself and guild members quit WvW. We now have to grind for buffs we already had and stripped away. Have fun with the new system.

Good for you, I hope you find somewhere you like better.

Why do people who don’t even play insist on coming to the forums and raining on everyone else’s parade?

And what I see here is someone defending the changes, raining on the “parade” of all those who got completely screwed with the new system.

Its not fun to lose absolutely everything you had for no reason, and if you aren’t someone who lost all of your hard work over the last few years from HoT, then you really should not be here and should not be discussing the subject. Its like popping into a school reunion for a school that you never went to.

Its okay to compliment things, but stick to complimenting things that are not directly and indescriminately bad for your fellow players.

Firefly mining flute vs watchwork pick

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lots of people in this thread who didn’t do their reseach. There’s test data out there that shows the watchwork pick offers little to no monetary gain because it sacrifices ore pieces in order to harvest sprockets from the node…

Its only good on Mithril, Silver, and Gold Ore.

Sounds interesting. Source?

Its easy enough to test yourself with several characters, a list of rich iron nodes, and a watchwork and normal orichalcum pick. Tests showed that whenever the pick would get a sprocket from the node, the bonus ore was lost.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1wfp5r/watchwork_pick_looking_for_data/

I quote from the thread:
Just tracked 120 swings of the watchwork pick on plat ore nodes.
Platinum Ore: 69
Platinum Ore + Watchwork Sprocket: 37
Platinum Ore + Jewel Shard: 8
Platinum Ore + Watchwork Sprocket + Jewel Shard: 6
Platinum Ore + Platinum Ore: 0

Just tracked 120 swings of the Orichalcum Mining Pick on plat ore nodes.
Platinum Ore: 112
Platinum Ore + Jewel Shard: 8
Platinum Ore + Platinum Ore: 0

Even for such a small test sample… 69 vs 112 speaks for itself. So this pick offers very little profit on valuable nodes like iron (currently 2.7s/ore on TP).

Not sure if I’m reading this right, but the watchwork pick acquired 120 plat, 8 jewel shards, and 37 sprockets.

Platinum Ore: 69
Platinum Ore + Watchwork Sprocket: 37
Platinum Ore + Jewel Shard: 8
Platinum Ore + Watchwork Sprocket + Jewel Shard: 6

It did not mine only 69 plat ore. It mined only plat ore 69 times. 51 times, it mined plat ore and something else. I think I would have noticed if I was mining and was only getting around 1/2 the materials.

The Orich pick acquired 120 plat and 14 jewel shards. So the WW pick got more of shards and plat, and more sprockets. If anything, this shows the WW pick is plain better than the standard one because even if the sprocket doesn’t allow the possibility of an extra piece because that possibility and only relevant for mining ori.

Also, the thread was made a while back when sprockets were easier to get thanks to living story. At the bottom it says sprockets were worth 40 copper; they’re worth more than 7 times as much now.

You’re right. My memory was just fuzzy because it was so long ago. :c

Sinister vs Viper for Burning DH

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

If you run a condition duration build you don’t need to press F1. Just having the three Guardian burning traits (burning duration, burn every three strikes, burn enemies around your target in an AoE), makes them a passive burning powerhouse, able to inflict 10+ burning stacks just from a GS whirl. This all works on allies, too.

The main strength of this build is that you can kill five enemies within seconds. My Celestial Guardian runs this build with 100% burning duration and the total DPS exceeds my Berserker-geared Dragonhunter.

The pure condition damage build with pressing F1 all of the time has a big flaw, it is very weak at bosses because you are not killing mobs all the time. And this is the majority of the encounters in the game outside of grinding.

You can get that much gold from a single full run of Silverwastes, because right now many materials that you get from salvage, like silk and leather, are worth alot of money, so just do event maps, salvage and sell and there you go.

Also: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1xffs0/permanent_rich_ore_locations_30_final_version/
If you hit every single node on this list, plus the food farm on every map including Dry Top, it takes about two whole days and you make a total of 100g.

It takes alot of practice to get used to doing this efficiently, though…

As for the new stat combos specifically, you can farm your own Flax on Verdant Brink, I think the food farm is located somewhere near the hylek village in top-right corner, just take a bunch of level 80 characters there once a day.

Guild Halls or the lack there of

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

My guild’s main problem is that we simply can not get the favor (Influence) to be able to mount an expedition to claim our hall.

Our guild managed to do this by setting guild mission prefernces to PvE only, then waiting until it refreshed (once per week?) and presented us with a guild trek. This is a simple mission that you can complete with 1 or 2 people by using the dulfy guide. If you don’t already have the locations memorised, one person won’t be able to do it, two might, and three is the safe number. But after you get them memorized even a single person can complete the easy guild trek in the alotted time.

Make sure you have the guide preloaded, preferably on another monitor or laptop or something not intefering with your game, set all settings to low to minimize load times, avoid a lossy internet connection and use a character who has a good balance between speed, survival, and damage. Speed is most important.

Moderate jumping skills are required, so practice jumping puzzles beforehand.

Ignore your starting area. find the central hub where everything converges, then you can easily access all areas of the map without much problems.

Don’t attempt map objectives without wallows and updraft. You should also have at least a week of roaming experience on the map, too. Otherwise, you’ll find it extremely frustrating to find things if you haven’t already memorized most of the travel routes, amount and type of enemies in each zone, etc.

Make the SMS login reminder go away

Security codes are actually easier to break than passwords. Two-stage authentication is a myth, as you can find on several security sites. Companies usually ask you to do it so they can sell your phone number to a third party for profit.

I’m not saying ArenaNet does this, I’m just saying its the norm.

The only time two-stage auth is secure is when the website requires both the password and the security code, not just one or the other. And even then the security gain from it is marginal at best; in tests it has been found that you are much more likely to get locked out of your own account than it is to be hacked if your password is already randomly generated and of a decent length.

The biggest factors of security are password quality and server salting.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Learn something about security before you speak on the subject.

Two factor authentication (2FA) is far FAR more secure than one-factor, if it’s done correctly. GW2’s 2FA isn’t done perfectly, but it’s far better than a simple password could ever be. (True 2FA requires both elements be 100% independent of each other. GW2’s implementation allows you to store both on the same computer.)

In the not-too-distant future, all Internet transactions will require true 2FA. Credit cards and banking are already moving that direction. Get used to the idea, because it’s coming whether you approve or not.

A few things:
1) As you say, “if done correctly”. Most sites do not do it correctly, they allow you to login using only a security code by default, bypassing your password.

2) Security codes are usually just a string of numbers, which is far easier to brute force with current hardware than a randomly generated password. This may not be a problem when logging into a game or website (due to throttling), but it is a problem if the company experiences a data breach after which the security of all information is reduced to how well it can either be exploited or just brute forced.

3) If the server hash and salt algorithms are sufficiently secure, a randomly generated password of a proper length is impossible to break. Most methods of obtaining these passwords revolve around creating collisions, and weaknesses in the hashing and salting algorithms that allow for superfluous collisions to occur.

4) Even when done properly, two-factor authentication presents a significant real life security risk since anyone with access to the confirmation device (typically a phone), will be able to get into your account without the use of a password.

5) Certain third-party services, such as Google voice, have proven to have security issues when used with two-factor authentication.

Knowing about security is not enough, you must also know about programming, and the reason that security issues exist to begin with. Understanding how security holes apply to software helps to know the real risks. Most of the time, the risk is in the software being used, and in these cases it usually bypasses any precautions that a user takes to protect themselves from security-related attacks.

NOTE: This post does not discuss GW2, but two-factor auth in general.

Point to healing in public events?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

I have to say I am a little disheartened, I usually heal in all games I play and it does not seem to be viable in this one.

Is there somewhere where healing comes into play and has more of an effect?

First of all, don’t listen to anything in this thread. The people saying healing doesn’t exist are usually part of a small group of people who run all Berserker gear and dodge perfectly. And even alot of them aren’t as perfect as they think and just don’t pay any attention to their log to when some water blast saves them.

I have 3-4 characters set up entirely for DPS, and they benefit from support, no matter how much I train or how good I get a certain encounter, things happen.

Secondly, you should understand that there are no truly dedicated healers in this game. Even the person with the best healing class will still need to switch to damage and fight mobs most of the time because other players don’t need healing that often except in certain battles that overwhelm them. If you want a character who can switch to healing in an emergency and completely restore the health of all his party that is about to wipe, this game is for you. if you want to follow noobs around and heal them as they level, this game is not for you.

Healing is highly situational.

Finally, if you want to be a dedicated healer in this game, either play PvP/WvW, or play the newer PvE maps from Heart of Thorns using Celestial (not dedicated Healing Power or fully defensive) gear. For class you should use Engineer, Elementalist, Ranger or Revenant, and Elementalist is the best of these in non-expo GW2.

If you don’t have the expansion, and you want to play a healer, then buy it. Encounters in the expo encourage healing, CC, and other alternative means of gameplay and generally punish pure DPS users, stackers and overdodgers.

Now, as for how to play your Engineer effectively as a healer, you need a condition damage and condition duration build. You’ll probably want to use Nightmare runes from Twilight arbor, condition duration food (Super Veggie Pizza is good enough), Giver’s weapons, Sigil of Malice and possible swap in some parts from the newer expo stat combinations that include condition duration.

The reason for this is simple, Engineer is very complex to play for healing, although they are very good at it. They have to master many combos (mostly blast finishers). And except for a few select power builds, they are mostly a class that benefits from conditions unless you run the hammer in the expo on Scrapper subclass. Conditions have the benefit of allowing you to continue to do damage while also healing in which case you will not receive much, if any, flak from your party.

Unfortunately, this map is both amazing and horrible at the same time. Its the most detailed map in the game, with many complex layers. That’s also what makes it frustrating, because by the time you find something (if you can find it), its already gone. The only advice I can give is to spend a long time on the map, learning every nook and cranny, where all the events are located, etc., and to max your masteries. Eventually you become more able to do what you need.

This doesn’t sound very logical, especially as there are ways to protect your system without! using a phone.
Especially if you plan to play it for the long term.

Just play at exactly half the display’s resolution and you won’t get blurring. Playing at native resolution in MMOs is usually not possible because they use a kind of UI that does not scale with screen size, its not just GW2 either.

To make it scalable to large sizes ANet would have to redo all of the UI textures because they are likely 1-2k in size and would become distorted.

After that go to Verdant Brink to get a few HPs for the rest.

Alternatively, I believe that you can also get those extra HPs from the Borderlands, Edge of the Mists and Eternal Battlegrounds, unless they changed it.

So nobody’s PCs got better in the three years since release? Many people upgrade their computers every few years, and the players will be disappointed if the game doesn’t make the maximum use of their hardware. Yes, it leaves the poor people like me out in the cold and we have to lower our settings ,but if you can’t buy a new computer chances are you can’t give ANet much money anyway and thus you aren’t really the target audience of this commercial game. Guild boon disabled for non-HoT players

Here’s a simple analogy for people who don’t get it?

Imagine that you have played a character for three years, then you log in one day, and the character is level 1, and all of his bags are gone, and all of his items are gone. He has no gold with which to buy any replacements, and when he works hard to earn gold to go buy replacements he’s told that he needs five people to craft and equip fine quality gear, and a few dozen more people to craft his exotics.

So he makes entirely new friends since his old ones don’t have the expo, gets them to help him level, gather gold and make all of his gear, and then once he is finally geared up he can go back to enjoying the content that he always had access to.

That is what has happened to guilds.

To be fair, “old GW2” was dated, extremely easy (after many nerfs), and didn’t really offer much exploration anyway with all the waypointing going on.

I can still go to newbie zones and almost one shot mobs despite downscaling, and even the mobs in Orr can’t seem to take any HP from me.

That said, don’t run the new maps in glass builds, and if there’s two of you that should be enough. Me and my partner have no trouble wiping out huge groups of mobs on the new maps as long as we are careful about what we are doing. No, its not casual gameplay, but they told everyone it wouldn’t be to begin with.

This is end-game content that everyone has asked for. The only disappointing thing is how much it took away from the core game and how finicky all of the new content is in regards to ping times, lag and frame rates.

If you’re really having trouble just get a guild.

Do you regret pre-purchasing HoT?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

I didn’t prepurchase, but I still regret buying it afterwards. It was no where worth the money that you’re paying, as the amount of content is pretty pathetic in comparison to the core game that you paid the same price for. The whole thing feels like they were just milking veterans for all their worth before they finally leave. I’m a big fan of GW2, and of ArenaNet, but I have to say this whole thing has felt underhanded and passive aggressive from a company that spent three years boasting to us about how they love to give us free content “unlike other MMOs”.

The game needed and expansion. That was plain and simple. Living story design was flawed from the beginning and if it had been made permanent content then the game was not going to need an expansion, but unfortunately ArenaNet lacked the foresight for that and by the time it was all done, it was too late. That is why the game ended up needing an expansion and they should not have ruined the game’s entire motto in order to develop it. The sheer amount of gating and degredation of the core game to promote buying the expansion was not in GW2’s spirit. It is the exact opposite of everything both the game and developers have stood for.

My regret stems not from the expansion, which is excelently done, but from the amount charged for it, and all of the actions and incentives to get people to buy it. Had these incentives been done properly in a way that was not insulting to players, it would not be a big deal, but many of us were driven to buy the expansion simply because we had become locked out of content that we had worked hard for, such as fully established guilds built by small groups of players that took years to finish off only for ANet to just say “oops, that’s it for you, enjoy”.

I want to buy an expo because its good, not because I’m forced to in order to keep playing. Players of this game can no longer support it because they love it, they have to support it because its the only MMO that fits their preferred gameplay and without the expo there will be nothing new (or old!) for them to do.

So now that this map is added to completion rewards, can we please get a few vistas and hero points spread across it? Its a wonderful detailed map with lots of places where such things could be added, and I’ve been waiting for ANet to flesh it out ever since it original release several years ago.

Old content needs some love now and then.

I quit GW2 a year ago. Is Beserkers still OP?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hannelore.8153

For old content, Berserker is still the meta, however they overhauled conditions, such as removing stacking and making far more viable condition builds, so having conditioners in your party and dungeons and fractals will no longer lower your groups DPS, and sometimes will increase it, leading to less toxicity overall.

For newer content, like the Maguuma Wastes and Magus Falls maps, mobs have alot of crowd control, AoE, group tactics and special attributes (like needing to bust their break bar to disable or kill them). This means that a pure zerk and damage build is actually not 100% effective in these areas. The most effective builds tend to be all-rounders, with alot of CC, movement, stun break and balance of power and conditions, otherwise you may have trouble running solo, because even though you can do good overall some mobs mechanics will give you hell.

Healers are a thing in the expo (all the new healer subclasses in HoT have the same healing potential that only Elementalist has in the core game). They make it alot easier to survive in newer content if you want to stay DPS, me and my SO run through the new maps as support and DPS and it works quite well. Right now healers are just supplemental, they help the group in any fight without a DPS check, but they aren’t required, They will likely be required in upcoming raids , however.

Legendary Lich in Mad King's Maze

I’ve managed to kill it quite a few times with very few players. There’s several strategies you can try, based upon what i’ve seen work:

1) The rock method. Stand on something where its hard for skellies to hit you, range the Lich and rezz each other while blinding skeletons and stealthing downed.
2) The tank method. Have eles and necros keep everything permanently chilled, strip retal from the skellies, spread conditions and heal allies.
3) The zerg method. Group tons of players inside the Lich house where the chest spawns, spam revives and AoE skills throughout the fight.

Note that for method #1, a pistol Thief works best, since they drop their smoke fields at their feet yet can still attack the Lich from range.

I think you’re not playing the right genre of games here. MMOs particularly the RPG-MMO genre tend to be defined by grind and farming. The reason for this is simple enough, there is no way for a developer to produce sufficient unique content to keep players occupied for thousands of hours. Furthermore a common trend in RPGs is this sense of progression things like better equipment, new items, new abilities, stat increases etc. So what we have in the MMO-RPG is a genre known for not giving players everything at the start (i.e. players having to slowly work towards things) and a certain amount of repetition. Well these are desirable traits since the desire to progress is part of the motivation to play (and of course the social aspects). I think you might be more comfortable with different genres, can’t really think of one… maybe chess? I do know you don’t have to unlock the chess pieces so that could work.

I think you’re missing the bigger picture here. HoTs has set a very real precedent that you can never know what to expect from Anet. They went for years with this policy of no grind, at your own pace, enjoy the way you want to enjoy. To HoT. Even today I could start a new class, and spend the tomes and the gold and have a fully functional character in WvW and in everything but HoT PvE, unless you want your Elite Spec… It’s not like it’s purely a cosmetic thing(Legendaries) but your character is now missing a trait line until you grind out a ridiculous amount of hero points, and there is no explanation why such a steep departure from established norms.

Especially considering the original amount was coincidentally the exact same amount you would have gained through playing through 100% of the pve side of expansion. This massive forced gate is a terrible precedent.

And someone else brought up a fantastic point. New players. Could you imagine being a new player, getting to 80, and only being 1/5 of the way done your character? The magnitude of the grind that a fresh new player now has to face without access to Tomes?

You now have to grind, all the way to 80, THEN you get to start the grind to finish spec’ing your character.

The entire “Elite Spec” implementation is terrible.

In literally every other game on the market that has a “grind”, you’re only 1/5th of the way done with your character once you hit the max level.

Try playing WoW without gears, for example.

You’re basically bashing ANet for implementing somethign that has been in pretty much every MMO since the dawn of time, and which people have often requested. They want grind, they want challenge. They want more to do than just farm gold in CoF P1 all day long with the occasional Tequatl kill.

As strange as it may sound, the kind of gameplay introduced in HoT can not only be relaxing to classic MMO veterans, but also more fuflilling.

The difference is, now that they’ve added elite specializations and masteries, you’re grinding for character development instead of grinding gold for yet another gemstore outfit that you will never equip more than once.

Patcher: No resume of individual files?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

Recently after the release of the expansion I’ve been having alot of trouble patching the game on my 1.5Mbit DSL connection. Upon further inspection, I discovered that the game was downloading far more data than it actually required:

1) The prepatch folder is 35.6MB, but I download about 100MB each time
2) The HoT release was about 3.5GB, but I downloaded over 10GB

After looking at the network connection closely using network monitoring tools, i was able to determine that when the connection is even slightly unstable (packet loss), the patcher would request the same data from the server repeatedly.

In other words, in non-technical terms: When a file fails to download due to connection problems, the patcher redownloads the entire file again.

This works fine for smaller files, but as of the HoT release, some of the files are a few dozen to several hundred megabytes in size. When these files fail to download, it can use up excessive amounts of bandwidth for no reason.

Please don’t assume everyone is on cable or fiber at the last mile.
(Many people are still on ADSL, wireless or mobile broadband)

Please don’t assume that data caps do not exist.

The technology to resume downloads was invented in the mid-90s and it seems incredibly unprofessional to not support it. Not to mention that your launcher is still not P2P and thus gets low throughput under high server load.

An Apology to all Zerker "Elites"

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Most fractal bosses can be soloed in a reasonable amount of time. If you can’t beat it with five people in a reasonable amount of time, check your own DPS instead of saying that it was good and blaming everyone else’s build. Fractals don’t scale up or down, so if single people can clear them, you have no excuse to not be able to clear them with a party of five regardless of the makeup of that party.

Its not so fun when others can be elitist too, is it?

If you are ruining others gameplay, ie farming, because you do not want to participate in it, ie playing how you want, then you are basically trolling those people that want to farm in an organized zerg. That is why they call you a troll, because you are working against them, so they see that as trolling.

Why not just join up with them or find another map?

People are not trolling by playing the game how they want. They are not all you and they have a right to do whatever they want in a game they bought.

Did you ever consider this stuff ruins their gameplay?

People who had been complaining for years on end that the game has no challenge (I am one of them, admittedly) rejoicing at finally having a challenge.

What I found instead:
Please remove challenge from my casual game! I want to be able to max everything and have all rewards and blow through expansion content in one week, so I can complain about there being no content again!

I’m pretty much done with this game, because everything is extremely easy, and I just get tired of having nothing to do except roll over my enemies.

Plus, Anet has seemed.. passive aggressive with the whole thing?
2013: We’re going to give you everything for free.
2014: You guys don’t like our free stuff, so we’re going to make an expansion.

This isn’t likely to happen, and Its not really ArenaNet’s fault. Australia’s overall communications network (Telstra) is legendary levels of bad. Even if Anet set up Oceanic servers, and every single person that you played with was from Oceania, its unlikely that your gameplay experience would change very much. Your ping time would be better but overall stability still the same considering all the broken copper and ADSL1 linkups there. The only players who would notice any significant change are those that are on cable and fiber at the last mile, and that is only a small population of Australians (some parts of Melbourne, Sydney ,etc.).

No perks for duo guild?

Hannelore.8153

Me and my partner have had our own guild since the start of the game. We have only ever had a mximum of five people in it, and usually only we were online. So as just two people we worked very hard over the last 2 1/2 years to get all of the influence and guild merits needed to get all trees to level 6 and buy a decent amount of consumeables. Come the expansion, and now everything that we’ve done up until now, all of that hard work, is completely worthless just so Anet can make a buck.

This isn’t how you retain players. And I’m not really suprised- I’ve seen no hype about the expansion on social media, barely see any Revenants running around, etc. It feels like everyone has just stopped playing the game by now.

At least give us a marriage system by this point so couples have something.

Please, do not make low level zones any easier. If they were any easier people would just sneeze on mobs and kill them. Its already pretty rediculous.

The current downscaling may be flawed, but its all that is keeping lv80s from having complete run over of newbie maps, and only just. Whenever an event daily comes around even that limitation goes to the birds fairly quickly.

By asking for it to be “fixed”, ANet will weaken low areas for the fifth time…

Condi Damage vs. Power Damage [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

Many of these opinions are completely biased and are not coming from players who use characters with condition builds. I want to make a few points:

1) Condition builds are hard. Yes, the gear is simpler, but the builds are not, they require many traits, runes, sigils, and food to work in unison with each other. This means that when specced into conditions, you cannot change your build. This is in contrast to Berserker and similar sets where you can run a full support build and still output heavy damage due to your gear (especially after the update).

2) Condition builds are useless against people who condition cleanse alot. For example, warriors who are traited for it can cleanse about once every few seconds, thanks to Cleansing Ire, the endurance signet, Mending, etc. Not to mention that many classes such as thief and warrior have heavy resistance to movement-impeding conditions, limiting your options to mostly just killing them outright as you have a very hard time slowing them down or stopping them at all.

3) Condition damage is a ramp up, while power damage is instant. This has an important meaning to classes such as theives which rely on coming out of stealth with everything they have, immediately. Sure, condition thieves work very well too, but they aren’t going to have the initial advantage in comparison. Using a condition build means giving up your intiial advantage to gain a long term advantage.

4) Condition damage is not a single stat. Stop saying that. Yes, some classes can stack bleeds heavily enough that they can get by without condition duration, but the large majority do not. Some classes such as necro even require full condition duration (reduced to 85% now even with Giver’s weps and Nightmare runes) to bleed out their opponents in any meaningful amount of time. This is even worse in WvW than in PvP due to the use of Melandru runes and lemongrass foods. If you do not believe me on this point, then please check the price of condition duration sigils on the market.

5) Condition damage requires Precision for maximum damage output. When running Dire, you are effectivley running the equivalent of Soldiers’. A simple example is that on warrior, you lose two potential bleed stacks per hit without Precision, greatly lowering the potential DPS that you can do against your enemy.

6) In some battles, conditions can become very dangerous if your enemy starts to convert them into boons, especially for an entire team. Through using conditions, you can actually get your entire team wiped due to overbuffing your enemies.

-
I recommend not developing opinions on something unless you’re thoroughly educated about the subject through knowledge and experience.

Because becoming invulnerable for 5 seconds and giving you time to figure out a strategy including the ability to break out of it with SB+Stab is useless.

Sure, its niche, but its one of those things that is OP if used right. But you have to make a build designed specifically to take advantage of it. Its a “survival” rune, just like the mist form one. and these runes are not for PvE gameplay.

They’re for escaping battles that would have killed you in PvP/WvW.

“Dialog hurts me in an online virtual game, please change/remove it.”

Your problem is not a video game, and I wish people would not waste ArenaNet’s time with such issues when there are far more important things waiting.

But just to answer why this will never happen, there are thousands of lines that have to be recorded for each race and for each language. This grows exponentially, so if you have five races, two genders, four languages, and a dozen lines per character (which is very conservative really) its 5*2*4*12 = 480 total lines to record.

And that’s just a low-end estimate.. I imagine the actual number of voiceovers in the game (when counting random NPCs, PS, etc.) is in the hundreds of thousands.
