In any decent PvP game that call itself of “e-sport” you can play Solo OR Team and have balance, like if you play for 4 months you’ll not fight who plays for 1 year. This is not a decent one for now, maybe after all the updates, just move to PvE or WvW if you really like the game and let this crap away.

Everytime now is a pug v team, at this moment not only me but more 2 friends are keeping distance from there, maybe a break from the game is a good idea too, it’s not like PvP in GW2 is good and the system still don’t help. That’s why the MOBA market always see us as a joke, hurts but it’s the true.

How does the matchmaking in Counter Strike work?

CS only matches you against people in your skill level. Generally, silver plays silver, nova plays nova, and etc. Also CS has built in voice chat, so it’s really not that big of a deal if you do go up against groups.

One of the most important aspects in competitive gaming (or anything in life really) is communication. So a premade in TS has a huge advantage in this game, since there’s no built in voice chat.

There are no Dire stats in pvp, when it comes hybrid you have; Carrion and Rabid. Also Rampager, Settler, and Cele if you want to count those.

Rabid is bad since it doesn’t have any vit, and these builds really don’t go into Honor, so you’ll have a small hp pool.

Rampager is underwhelming , you’re just better of going zerker ammy.

Settler, you can make healing burn build, but again it’s not that great.

Cele just doesn’t really work that well with Guard.

So pretty much Carrion is your best bet. Gives you vit, power, and condi. All the things you need.

I want to know the reason why SoloQ was removed? I don’t think they ever told us.

I believe they wanted to spilt the community as little as possible (player base is already small). So they just combined it into one playlist. In theory this is a great idea, however it didn’t turn out that way because a majority of the time soloqers are going up against premades. I don’t mind going up against premades once in awhile, however when it becomes a common occurrence, that’s when I lose faith in the system. It’s also why I refuse to soloq now.

Spirit weapons can work in wvw, it just depends on the context. For solo roaming and small group they are viable, they’re actually one of our best 1v1 builds believe it or not. However, when it comes to larger scale fights, they are next to useless because they evaporate in seconds.

Couple of small tips when running SW:

Always take the hammer. It’s by far the best spirit, it has the ability to do insane damage (+5k crits), and has CCs also.

Have a scepter. Since SW builds aren’t known for having great sustain, so it helps to have a range weapon to keep out of melee combat as much as possible, let the spirits do the work.

SW benefit from buffs, so this can open up a number of options. You can go AH and still reap the benefits, furthermore SW have their own stats, and don’t scale with your stats. So this can allow you to go tankier, and let the SW do most of the work, while you just buff them.

Yeah I never got that, people act like you have to run around doing 30v30. The majority of my time in wvw is spent in a group of only five or less.

When it comes to pvp, I’ve been playing a lot less. Generally I always play the same players too, so it gets boring, plus conquest only for over two years doesn’t help.

I find sportsmanship in this game to be pretty terrible. Anytime someone loses, there is always an excuse. Cheese comp, terrible teammates, cheese builds, and etc. Everyone’s ego is so huge that the thought of being outplayed or just someone being better than you is inconceivable. Few people in this game can take constructive criticism, and everyone acts like their kitten don’t stink.

Very rarely do I see a gg or wp. Most of the time is omg l2p or my teammates suck!

There really should be a grace period for reconnecting. It’s poor planning on Anet’s part, their zero tolerance stance isn’t a good decision. Some of the most popular competitive games have grace periods before the player is punished. Also add in the fact that GW2 servers aren’t exactly the optimum makes the problem even greater.

AH dps is much better in group situations than medi. AH dps can also bring support (since you’ll be most likely running shouts), and your survivability will be greater. Medi will give you higher dps output and burst, however they don’t really fair as well in group environments.

Depends on what you’re looking for. When it comes to support, I haven’t ran an AH build in months in PvP or WvW. In my view, x/x/x/6/6 is almost better in everyway, sure AH builds have some slight advantages. However, these few advantages aren’t worth it in the current meta.

When it comes DPS you pretty much have to go AH or Medi, if not, you lack the sustain to be useful. There are some builds out there that’ll work, however they require certain group comps and really wouldn’t be that effect alone.

It’s an alright trait, most people use it for the damage multiplier and not the healing aspect. I’d like to see the healing coefficient buffed a bit, this would help immensely when it came to dps builds.

Bunker Guard isn’t very good for carrying. You rely heavily on your teammates. They need to understand you need to be the one rotating to all the team fights and not just 1vX on a point. Most people don’t understand this, and soloq on bunker Guard can be one of the most frustrating things ever. If you have a competent team, then yes bunker Guard can carry. If you don’t, you’re pretty much useless.

When it comes to soloq, it’s a nightmare, at least in my experience. I’ll still continue to play in a group, however I’m never doing soloq again, unless some of these issues get addressed.

I usually don’t complain a lot, however I decided to try out my first couple of matches since the patch. As a solo player, I played the same premade (top spots even) four times in a row out of five games. This is an instant turn off for me personally.

I’ll keep playing because five games isn’t enough to justify the system yet. However, if this trend continues, I’m done with pvp, at least from a solo perspective.

The one thing I do like about the leaderboard is it rewards avid and active play. You can no longer get to the top and then go afk and maybe play a few games a week to retain your position. Other than that there are still a lot of issues that need to be addressed, however this is a brand new system, so of course there will be issues to begin with.

Due to me having more free time and avidly playing WvW again, I gave this thread a much needed update. Added new traits and also any balance changes. I’ll continue with the rune section I left off with, and will continue to add new builds, videos, and sections.

I just do see the point in wasting my time. If the rewards where better I’d be all over it! I mean the majority of the pvp population has llamas, and the Hero’s armor looks similar to the reward track.

However, this is the test season, so hopefully when the real deal happens, there will be rewards actually worth trying to achieve.

If it’s all might stacks this sigil would be extremely OP against any build that specs for stacking might.

If it’s 1 might stack I wouldn’t even think about using it since there’re better alternatives.

I’m assuming it removes the full stack. Removing one, even at five seconds wouldn’t be that useful.

This is pretty much what we been asking for. Both cele engi and ele takes huge hits with this.

It really depends on the context. When it comes to solo roaming, Warrior far outshines Guardian. However, when it comes to small group comp, support Guard is one the best professions to go. Most of the groups success rest solely on the Guard(s).

However, since you want sustained dps and strong CC, Warrior is definitely the way to go imo.

Matchmaking is pretty underwhelming atm. Soloq consist of players with very little experience, once in a while I’ll get someone I know or that is decent. On the other hand when I do premades, we just roll everyone 500-50, which isn’t fun either.

I’ve been playing little pvp the last couple of days because of this. Hopefully things get better with the 16th patch.

They should have just left ranks alone! The only ones that needed fixing were 69-80, the points for those were ridiculous.

There really is no progression at all anymore, besides Champion Brawler. Players need some type of progression (rewards, titles, finishers, and etc.) if you want them to keep playing.

Llamas don’t count!

How do you go on a 17 game losing streak? I mean I’ve had my fair share of losing streaks when I soloq, but 17 is a bit much. I really think you need to reconsider, you might be part of the problem, and look at your own gameplay. Either that or you’re just the most unlucky person ever!

It really does just seem like a game spam the more I watch it. The first person has 100 points now, while the second is only at 63. Nobody can catch him because it seems he plays 18 hours a day.

I’m all for making leaderboard reward the more active players, but this is a bit ridiculous. However, like I said before, this will only be a test season, so hopefully it’ll all gets fixed when you implement the real thing.

Commander builds are generally AH builds. 0/1/6/6/1, 0/0/6/6/2, or 0/0/6/4/4. Weapons of choice is definitely staff, with hammer or gs.

Gear is usually solider with a few other pieces mixed in.

Runes are generally Trooper or Melandru, this depends on the size of the group and number of condi clears.

Utilities, three shouts or two shouts with a consecration. Some people even like running two shouts and JI, for extra mobility.

It’ just ranked, technically we aren’t even suppose to be able to see them yet. They are just testing them and have been resetting them occasionally. They are also going to reset them when the test season starts on the 16th.

That’s why we are having a test season, to fix all of this!

Ranked is more “rewarding” once seasons and ladders are implemented. Since there are rewards tied directly to them.

One interesting thing is you can actually see how many people played ranked pvp since the patch. According to NA section, 8,258 unique accounts have played, granted some are probably alt accounts too.

EU on the other hand has 15,404.

You can say this about any profession.

Play with a guild/friends. Soloq is just a bad time.

Please put big bad looking high HP bosses that roam around courtyard map. Kill them and gain 250pts.
