The possibility to get very lucky or be very unfortunate is too great.

Well, that’s how life works.
About five or six years ago when on FFXI Archer’s Rings (A really expensive ring required back then to craft another expensive ring that people actually demanded you to have. Yes, it was that messed up.) dropped from Stroper Chymes, I farmed those mobs for an amount of time I even lost count of and never got one. Then one day one of my linkshell (guild) mates logs in right in Ordelle’s Caves and kills one. Guess what? He got a 1/1 drop.
Then by my own choice I simply stopped farming those and moved on focusing on money, which wasn’t even that easy to make, but requiring much more time and less luck.

I think the drop rate for precursors was way too high it looks like it was around 10-20% I wouldn’t mind if only a few people got them. A lot of my friends got them and sold them for 180-220g

I bet it’s way less than that if you count how many people did the event and how many of them got a precursor.

You simply didn’t have to go back to the waypoint, let alone restarting your game.
Just like you, I had fallen into the lava bug, but once the boss was dead I got teleported automatically on safe land among everyone else and I got ressed and opened the chest.
Don’t be hasty next time!

Perhaps they could have made the event repeatable, and make accounts who already opened the chest unable to open it again. That way it would have been much more fair for everyone, but I bet they would have toned down the rarity of the rewards if that happened.
As it is intentional to make legendaries hard to craft, it was intentional to give out the rewards on a single chance.

Obtaining good items in this kind of games is always a matter of luck, or time spent. It is luck at participating to an event like this, as it is obtaining something rare from a monster drop, and it is well known how luck can be unfair at times.

Not everyone got a precursor. I didn’t get a precursor. Good luck to them at selling those too.
The prices of precursors at the trading post was preposterous either, so it’s a good thing if this income lowers it a little.

Nothing was handed over to the players. It was a large scale long event and needed many people to be completed, and all who was there was expecting at least something good, otherwise it wouldn’t have been worth it.
You had to work at that time? Bad luck.
You had to go out with your friends? Bad luck.
You can’t blame ANet for giving worthy prizes for an important large scale event announced since the beginning of the month, just because you couldn’t participate.

I honestly would be pissed too if I missed the event, so I understand your anger, but you really can just blame the odds. There will always be someone working at the time of an event. And they can’t just appeal for everyone’s timezone.

Could have used better rewards from the chest though.
You know… some challenge/reward balance. It’s disappointing going through a moderately hard puzzle just to get what you can get easily from a common monster.

1300 for top tier exotic (level 80)

Yes, changes were made to other classes too but they were mostly all buffs…
Look at the Mesmers, The Prestige now hits for double, and our Dancing Dagger hits for half. Come on…
And what about the Cluster Bomb nerf? The arrow already takes ages to hit the enemy and now it does even less damage.
This class is becoming a joke.

It’s unevitable. With new content will eventually come a level cap increase, perhaps a new level of traits and more powerful weapons and armor.
Guild Wars 2 began differently, but will become similar to the vast majority of MMOs.

I’m even fine with that, though as long as gear elitism and farm/grindfests are kept off the game.

How come we have Orrian weapons, Corrupted, Destroyer, but no Branded?
One could say “It’s because branded minions don’t wield weapons”, but neither Destroyers do, yet there are Destroyer weapons.
Perhaps they’ll be released once the Crystal Desert becomes available?

I don’t know if it’s my single case or not , but after the last minipatch i cannot login with WTFast anymore , and now running the game normally i have no problem anymore!!!! i’m still playing right now on gandara in lv 80 places with many other people and no lag.

Contact your isp….

Been there, done that.
The only answer you can get from their call center is “We have checked your connection and everything seems fine. The issue must be within the game servers. Contact their technical support.”

But then ANet says “It’s an ISP related problem, so we’re not responsible. Contact your ISP’s technical support and describe your problem.”

It’s a game of ping-pong where the user is the ball while the players are ANet and ISPs.

But still, when the 30 days trial of WTFast are gone we’ll be screwed anyways if nothing is done about it. Something has to be done, and ANet and ISPs passing the buck to each other isn’t helping. They have to get in contact and work the solution out.

Give us a way to upgrade our exotics to Ascended armor (keeping their skin) and I dont think many would complain.

How about an NPC that in exchange of some Tier 5 crafting mats (or just very few Tier 6) allows you to turn any piece at time of Exotic armor into Ascended without touching the stats and the appearance, thus just activating the infusion slot on them?

But… if the ascended gear is acquired in the new dungeon and you need ascended gear to use infusions and without infusions you can’t get rid of the agony condition in the dungeon… isn’t it a bit paradoxical?
It’s like saying… go through this room filled with lethal gas first and after that you can get a gas mask. :S

Well, the situation went back to normal two days ago a while after midnight as well, problem is it got bad again yesterday during the afternoon.
I just hope it won’t repeat later today.

Hello all,

I would like to expand some on what Ashley said earlier. First off, the majority of all the tracerts we received all showed significant packet loss on the FastWeb network. More specifically, the majority of the loss was happening on the 89.96.200 and 89.97.200 hops. All of the tracerts we reviewed routed through those IP ranges.

I also want to point out that you all are not the only ones that appear to be having this issue. After looking around the internet some, I am seeing the exact same reports from people who are currently playing Battle Field 3 and World of Warcraft in Italy on FastWeb.

Now, I know some of you have been attempting to contact FastWeb with little to no resolution. I can only recommend that you send them any tracerts you may have run that clearly shows there is an issue that will need to be resolved.

Unfortunately, since this issue lies with your service provider there is not much ArenaNet can do to fix this issue. However, I will see if there is anything else I can do on my end that may help make FastWeb aware of this issue.

Unfortunately, it’s renown that Fastweb’s technical support centre, just as many other Providers’ here in Italy, isn’t the best around. We appreciate very much any help you guys at ArenaNet can give to make them realize and eventually find a solution to this issue.

Furthermore since this is not a problem on user side but between providers and game connection it should be your job (of both ISP and ANet on mutual accord) to pinpoint the anomaly and fix it.
We users can’t do anything about and reporting to the ISP won’t do anything at all since everything else in the network seems to work fine except the game. They will just say the usual “reset your modem and check your cables” and all that stuff that won’t fix anything, and in the end they’ll just shrug it off and tell us that “it’s not their problem then”.

Since yesterday we don’t even know anything about the cause of this problem because no one who should can figure it out and it’s not even trying. This makes customers unhappy.

Hey guys – Thanks so much for all of the data you all have submitted in regards to this issue. Our network engineers have looked into the issue and I think that you have all seen that this does appear to be an issue with the Internet Service Provider, Fastweb. If this is your ISP and you are being affected by this issue, I would highly recommend contacting Fastweb and bringing this issue to their attention so that they can be of further assistance to you.

I guess we can start considering changing our ISP then? Unless it’s a major network problem the provider won’t do kitten for the correct access to an online game…
Tomorrow Fastweb employeers will be on strike too. How kittening nice, huh?

Lag seems to be different depending on areas. I’m experiencing beyond heavy lag in Snowden Drifts with my secondary character, but on my main in Frostgorge Sound the lag is much lesser.

4) (If possible) Level 80 areas that combine PvE and PvP. Rohan maps were PvP enabled with ‘safe zones’ around the waypoints and certain maps were PvP free. You could create deliberate farming spots (groups of mobs) and watch as parties battle for control of each place. A Rohan example of this was a sprawling monastery with countless rooms and corridors full with mobs. Certain places in certain rooms were best for leveling(farming), others were not and you either fought to the death to gain the spot or went exploring to find an equally as good spot in another room. Thats where we found that 30ft tall Harpy.

5) Embrace the grind! Let’s stop kidding ourselves- you need to grind to obtain a legendary.

What you’re asking is to turn GW2 into insert generic korean style farmfest MMORPG name here

It’s good if they can correct some of the clipping issues… as long as it doesn’t become another “hats make you bald”.
That has already ruined some of my visual experience, far more than clipping.

I agree.

This is especially irritating at 80th level, where you are forced to teleport back to older zones to hunt for lower level variety mobs when there are already a plethora of mobs in Malchoir’s Leap, Cursed Shore, and Straits of Desolation.

Risen should count as more than one variety of monster. Whether it is a bandit, spellcaster, warrior, giant, spider, worm, spirit, etc. It’s silly that we have to go back to old zones just to do the daily.

That’s one of the points, actually.
They don’t want you to live in Orr once you attain level 80 while all the other zones become ghost towns.

I guess the splash effect on hits can be optional, but the trail and projectiles are certainly possible. It was already done with legendaries after all.

So if someone is good you want their class nerfed down, and then what happens to the ones who aren’t as good? Become cannon fodder?

Get as good as him, you and your server/pvp mates and then challenge him again or try out what he did with your enemy.
Can’t? Maybe you didn’t try enough.
Think you’ve reached your limit and can’t get any better? Just move on a different target.
If you can’t fight the dragon, go for the lizards.
