The conspiracy is not a theory! :o

The way is closed. It is made by the dead and the dead keep it that way
So no guardian in party = no melee?
And thus guardian became the most wanted class for dungeons.
So much for being able to do perfectly any dungeon with a party composed of any class because “oh, no holy trinity” eh?
Imho, new gear introduced is good as long as it doesn’t get ridicolously time consuming with griding or excessively hard to obtain.
Has anybody ever noticed while doing the mission Critical Blowback for the Order of Whispers, you briefly see amidst the corridor a green name that cannot be targeted saying “Population Control Device”?
Perhaps a conspiracy easter egg? After all the Order of Whispers is some shady secret organization.

I’ll try that, thanks.
I wanted to transmute my actual level 80 headgear into the starter one, but when I used a transmutation stone only the looks and the stats appeared in the window, leaving out the rune. I can’t use the look of it on high level gear because it doesn’t accept runes? That’s a bit silly.
Once the item is transmuted into a level 80, it’s no longer level 0, so I don’t understand why shouldn’t runes be appliable.

Psh, back friday sale. What a farce. It’s good only if you had spared gems.
Sure, discounts on the gem store but… gem/gold conversion skyrocketed to 1 gold and 30 silver per 100 gems.
Unless you’re buying with real money this sale doesn’t change a thing.
I’ve found out some issues with armor.
All of these are for Norn female:
The first dye (pottery dye) on medium Wolfborn Boots cannot be changed. (In the green square on the picture.)
When a pistol is equipped on main hand it clips through both medium Commando’s Jacket and the Wolfborn Vest. (In the blue square on the picture.)
Two spots on medium Commando’s Jacket clip through the character’s body. (In the red squares on the picture.)

I have to agree with OP. I can’t count how many times I got killed by some instant move that had me saying “now hat the heck did just kill me?”
Besides, there are some mobs in game that have overpowered moves paired with an awfully short or non-existant animation like Icebrood Wolves’ Leap skill or underwater enemies’ Dart skill.
In the case of Icebrood Wolves’ Leap, you just see the ground under the wolf cracking in an instant, and depending on the monster strength, everyone in melee range gets their HP down by a good chunk or just get downed in one hit.
Dart is another move that catches you all of a sudden and depletes your HP faster than a bleed on 50 stacks with multiple chained hits that can do even 5k, without any animation beside protruding their weapon towards the player.
This boss has so many flaws I described in the Arah topic.
The WP is way too far. Place it closer to the arena but do not let the boss leave the arena so that it doesn’t get exploited like it was before.
The boss loses aggro and resets way too easily. Even if there is still people in the arena or the party gets stealthed. No one hits the boss = boss resets. This is not right.
The Lupine Shots spam. Not the AoE which is perfectly dodgeable but the single fast zig-zag traveling shots that hit for about 12k without grubs absorbed.
I dont’ know if this is intended but I haven’t seen this happening in any video out there. Sometimes it just goes crazy and begins spamming 3 or 4 times in a row the single target projectile. It happened to my group last time and I could dodge the first two then was left with no endurance to dodge the third in a row, and since they’re so fast I can’t hit on the Shadowstep target zone in time before it hits me. As a glass cannon thief I get almost oneshotted.
In my opinion these single shots should be made slower or less damaging.
Now I’m not as good as many people around here claim to be, since they say this boss is easy as a walk in the park. But at least I’m decent and yet I never had to quit a dungeon except that time.
(edited by Hermes.7014)
I see that people here on the forums think dungeons are cakewalks.
Yet I’m not one of them, since I think some paths are too hard for the average player. Except for Arah, in that dungheon all paths are pretty hard for the average player. And you can tell that by how many people you see around with Arah skins.
Some of the Nightmare Court Sylvari inside Twilight Arbor are as tall as Norn, and they can two-shot you.
What about scythes? No love for scythes?
They have scythe skins for the staff.
But that’s still a staff, not a combat scythe!
I never liked the whole “racial skills are meant to be used for fun and not for utility”. Why the hell are they there anyways then? They need to be more useful than they are now otherwise no one will be using them and they’ll be just considered awaste of skill points.
Norn forms have very high cool down times and last nothing, pluse they can’t move while attacking.
To make them worthwhile they should:
Increase duration to 1 minute.
Gain Unshakeable trait while transformed.
Ability to attack while moving for single hit skills.
What about scythes? No love for scythes?
Log off, go play WoW or FFXIV…
After you see those messes, then come back and complain.
XIV is right in the middle of a rebirth actually.
Let’s just say the pay off the mystic recipe is kind of unbalanced.
Generally it’s 50 tier 5 mats, plus a philosopher’s stone and 2 different tier 6 mats.
From that you can get a random amount of the desired tier 6 mat from 5 to 12.
I don’t understand why people is so hell bent over not wanting mounts.
Are you afraid they would create lag in towns? Simple, just make them unusable in town.
Are you afraid that they could be used to escape from battle in WvWvW? Simple, make them unusable in WvWvW.
Is it really that hard?
In FFXI, before the Chocobo Stables, you could use (rent) Chocobos only in open world and could be mounted only from any town without any item needed, just gil to pay the ride. And if you dismounted they’d run off and you’d be on your feet.
Now imagine a rent-a-mount system like that in GW2. Is going through a map at higher speed and avoiding annoying monster aggro on your way to a dungeon or an instance that game breaking to you?
(edited by Hermes.7014)
Do you really believe the original soundtrack is THAT bad that you can’t even listen a second of it?
Out of curiosity, what kind of music do you listen to?
Now, this has no indication of difficulty, but both swamp and aquatic are easy as heck, and the fastest fractals. Whenever I see them Im more than happy.
Eesh, I built both of those… guess I need to toughen them up a bit…
You’re kiddin’ right?
My thought is to give ~30 tokens for the first completion of story-mode each day (and zero for repeats).
That is more tokens than we currently get for repeating an explorable path, so it will encourage people who are very focused on one set of dungeon rewards to run story-mode in addition to the three explorable paths each day. Or if they are just helpful players, it will reward them moderately for helping out others.
However, ~30 is much less than the 60 possible from explorable paths, and it would only be available once a day, so people couldn’t farm the easier story-mode for tokens.
I do not agree with this …
getting 30 tokens each day means you’ll get 1800 in a month doing easy runs on a daily basis
you need less than 1400 tokens for a full set …
so you get a full set in one month just by doing a 1h easy run per day ???
NO definately NO!!!
I’m farming the hard mode, doing CM explo mode, 3 paths each day from yesterday (did this before but it was so bugged) and now people can get a dungeon set just that SO easily … I DO hope this will never happen
Why is it always the people in self denial who deny to others? If you chose the hard way it’s your business and yours alone.
Because I know how people like you think: “If I had to go through a hard time to get my stuff obviously it has to be hard for everyone else too, otherwise the noobs won’t drool over my shiny armor in adoration and then I won’t feel like an elite superior being on an online game.”
Because some dungeons take too long to complete and mostly casuals do not want to spend hours of their time just to complete one.
To answer the topic question: From twenty minutes to one hour. No more.
I think duration should be including in the scaling of the dungeon incentives. Player level, gear, and difficulty should be counted too. I also feel it should scale for occupancy. If I want to go all Indiana Jones and run a tomb solo, there should some capacity to do so.
I would also institute DR and anti farming because it helps balance the game. Also, it introduces more difficulty for the truly gifted gamers who need more to feel satisfied.
And do you believe that those gifted gamers have the right to institute rules for everyone? What about the non gifted gamers?
People already do not have equal opportunities in real life, so even if it’s an illusion, at least let them have them in a virtual world.
Trust me it’s not just the bugs. It’s also the time needed to complete.
Then probably Giganticus Lupicus. That boss fight is beyond frustrating and annoying. I know that when the waypoint was closer to the battle people exploited it, but now every time somebody dies on path 3, he has to travel half dungeon again to get back to battle. Also, not everyone is a master at dodging the spammed fast homing projectiles that get easily mistaken among those which just travel to the ground.
And what about the immediate HP reset if the boss loses aggro on all party members, even in a situation such as if a thief casts shadow refuge on the whole party? That’s kittened up.
The fact that an high vitality class, namely guardian, is needed for this fight also breaks it. Where is the “all classes can do anything in this game”? Hell an elementalist or thief almost get oneshotted if hit and they can’t do anything to protect allies.
Arah requires too much effort, unbalanced for the current rewards, and people just resort for the faster dungeons and fractals. That’s the truth.
I know it’s Orr, I know it’s the city of the human gods, but turn the difficulty and completion time on par with other dungeons and I’m sure it’ll regain life.

They should do like BioWare is doing with Mass Effect 3 expansions’ soundtracks. Just release the additional tracks for free download.
I really hate that Norn line:
“I pray to the Spirits of the Wild, but they rarely answer.”
Just drives me nuts, really.
We marked those lines for a rewrite because the norn don’t really pray to the spirits. For whatever reason they didn’t get addressed (tools bug? oversight? budget?) so we’re sort of stuck with them for now. We may change some of them the next time the actors come back.
How about “I plead” or “I speak” instead of “I pray”?
Also, along Fractal Relics the players should receive exp and about the same amount of coin granted by the completion of dungeons.
Additionally, to prevent event farming, the chest for each boss could be looted only once a day. Thus defeating the same boss again on the same then would only grant a decreased number of Fractal Relics and the usual exp and coin.
(edited by Hermes.7014)
I know right now we have instanced dungeons with bosses, but with the new Fractals I came up with this.
I decided that “Spires of the Mists” would be an appropriate name as in my idea, the arenas (Spires) could be placed in the Mists, a dynamic ever-changing area. So that the location and boss themes may vary by entering the assigned teleporter at an additional area of the Mistlock Observatory.
Now I’ll explain some of the features I have in mind:
In short
The “Spires of the Mists” would in fact be instanced arenas, in which the player, along a full party must defeat a powerful boss within a given time limit in order to obtain rare loot from a chest at the end. Starting from unique exotics, tier 6 materials, to Ascended gear, weapons and T7 materials.
How to get there
The players would have to speak to an NPC who prompts them to choose which enemy to fight, like it is done when choosing a route in dungeons. Once a particular choice gets the most votes, the players are transported to the chosen arena.
Mechanics
Differently from Fractals, there wouldn’t be any difficulty scaling. The boss would be exceptionally stronger than dungeon bosses and they would be divided in three tiers: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
- Bosses of the Bronze tier are basically the easiest. Not exactly a walk in the park, but you’d need at least a fairly experienced group to defeat them.
- In the Silver tier things would start getting rougher and requiring teamwork and strategies. Some bosses of this tier may also need to be weakened before they can be damaged.
- But it’s in the Gold tier where the real toughest battles are.
Fought in arenas with ambient damage and instant death sources such as spike traps, lava, trapdoors etc.
The bosses in this tier should also be capable of casting high level Agony attacks on players, thus requiring an Agony resistance of at least 20 to avoid getting downed.
Needless to say, defeating these bosses would provide much better chances and numbers in rewards over previous tiers.
Each arena would be divided by a gate between safe zone and battle zone. Upon entering the arena, all players are placed in the safe zone, free to prepare for the upcoming fight without any rush. Once a player touches the gate to the battle zone, all players will be asked if ready and when all are by checking their checkboxes, the battle may begin. After players have entered the battle zone, the timer will set off.
Like it happens in Fractals, if a player is defeated he/she cannot return to the safe zone and the whole party must be wiped out in order for them to return there. Unlike open world enemies, the boss will not heal in the meantime, but beware as the countdown timer will keep ticking.
If the countdown reaches zero, and the boss hasn’t been defeated, the event will fail and the players will be returned to the Mistlock Observatory.
Once the boss is defeated, its’ eventual minions alive will be automatically defeated as well and the timer will stop. The players will be rewarded with Fractal Relics and a chest will then appear.
In my opinion, given the tough challenge, the chest should eventually contain exotics, slightly lower chances for ascended gear and weapons, and an even number of tier 6/7 crafting materials, lodestones and globs of ectoplasm/dark matter.
In my opinion, this offers a good challenge, and a valid alternative to grinding/farming.
If ArenaNet developers may find this a valid idea, they are free to modify it as they see fit for implementation.
Tell me your opinions in regard.

Does “Revamping and rebalancing the existing dungeons” mean they’re going to make them harder?
You know, Arah on the shortest path already takes more than an hour and half to complete., and that’s already a bit too much.
In DCUO you can dye your weapons any colour you want.
GW2 could make use of it as well.
Duels: Yes. I dont’ get why we shouldn’t be allowed to friendly spar with a friend just for fun.
Inspect: No. Gear checks are food for elitism.
I HIGHLY disagree! There’s NO need for a MF stat.
Traits should be left for combat mechanics. This suggested trait would be literally USELESS in PvP and would just be taking up a space for a better trait.
I already have a full MF set on my thief (excluding back piece), and it gives me a total of 167 MF with omnom bars with 25 stacks…and another 50 if I choose to use a booster.
So you’re saying that since you can attain already that much Magic Find, and additional bonus would be meaningless?
I find your logic a bit difficult to understand. Especially when there already are quite a few “useless” traits that could be easily rewritten with the one suggested by TC.
My winamp is working fine on creating playlists for GW2, the only issue I found out is with tracks not playing in random order for BossBattle. Anyone know of a fix o this? I don’t want to hear music in the same order for every boss I fight.
How does this guy get these vigil shoulders and a whispers head?
You apply the same steps used to get your starter hood back: Buy some common(white rarity) shoulders, or whatever slot/item you want to transfer to another character, transmute the Vigil shoulders onto the common piece and then put it in your bank. It’s even been changed to show that the piece becomes “Account Bound.” You’ll lose out on the stats, but that’s not important. Also, this will work for any “Character Bound” equipment options like ones from the story that you want on a different character or class of the same armor type.
Unfortunately, they recently changed ruined this by turning transmuted items soulbound instead of account bound.
No mention of sneak attack? Zero initiative and does as much damage as unload just need to stealth first.
Yeah, I forgot about Sneak Attack. It is almost as powerful as unload but it cannot be compared to the power of Backstab, which doesn’t use initiative as well.
The legendary rifle The Predator has a unique ‘laser gun’ sound when firing so tying a sound to a particular weapon clearly is possible. The issue comes when others say ‘well my rifle looks like it should make xyz sound… can you change that?’. Youd end up with each and every named exotic making a different sound and while this would be amazing I dont think its possible.
It is possible. You see this in many other MMOs.
It just depends right down to the developers’ will to work on aesthetics.
I agree. This nerf should be reverted in PvE now that they started to make PvP versions of skills.
I get what you mean, I played FFXI for a long time.
So what you’re suggesting would be a trait much like warrior’s Empower Allies which grants power to party members, but in this case it would rather boost magic find.
I don’t see why not. People will sure be happy to have a thief in party. But before we see something of the sort they’ll either have to rewrite an existing trait, or we’ll have to wait for an eventual level cap increase and a new trait set unlock.
Am I the only one who finds this weapon set underpowered compared to others?
I believe it needs quite some balancing, desperatedly.
But let us get to each attack analysis:
Vital Shot: The auto-attack, so no initiative cost. I guess this is okay but not that great. The added bleeding effect is nice for stacking up on others’ bleeds. Yet, the attack speed is much slower than dagger and deals less DPS. And that would be a shot to the vitals?
Body Shot: Needless to say the damage for this skill is almost as low as the auto-attack, but the Vulnerability makes a bit up for it. Yet it’s still considered a waste of initiative. Two unloads after a vital shot deal less damage than three unloads in a row.
Unload: The B&B pistol skill to deal damage with P/P. While it does quite some damage in PvE, it’s still underpowered when compared to Dagger DPS builds and it’s also heavy on Initiative consumption with 5 points. In PvP, it does decent damage but it’s even less viable because anyone can easily dodge out most of the shots out of a volley, and once your initiative is depleted you’re a much less of a threat.
In my opinion, something in this skill should be changed. Either increase damage per hit, or reduce initiative cost.
Head Shot: This skill now is just terrible. All it does for 4 Initiative points is Daze and Daze alone for 1/4 second.
Yes, in PvE you can stop mobs while they’re using a slow but powerful attack, but in PvP the utility of this skill would be almost down to zero and a true waste of initiative. Why? While you can stop slow casting skills such as healing (that if you have a decent reaction speed), if you’re focused on dealing damage you will most likely never have enough initiative points required to use Head Shot and daze a target out of their healing skill, let alone if you’re in the middle of an unload volley.
Oh, and last time I checked head shots were lethal in real life and many other games. I’m not saying they should be lethal in GW2 as well, but at least they should be more damaging. That or just change the skill’s name to Concussive Shot, which would be a much more appropriate name for a skill that dazes, and at least increase daze duration to 1/2 second.
Black Powder: Now this is a much more reasonable skill. The damage is as low as Head Shot and it’s the heaviest on Initiative consumption, but this is compensated by a way better effect: It blinds the enemy and grants a small area smoke around the caster that can be used for combos as it blinds the enemies attacking you in melee range. This is probably the only okay skill in this set.
Down to it, this weapon set offers no incentive over the other sets and cannot even be placed on the same level. So I hope the guys at ArenaNet could begin soon doing some balancing and bring it up to decency.

I’m not using Ambient or City playlists because often they would play an unfitting music for the type of area I’m in. Ambient needs a more complex system that allows you to choose in which area which music has to play.

You mean for character creation? SoulCalibur V has something of the sort, pitch and tone. And that’s a fighting game.
Male sylvari with an english accent? Perhaps you’re referring to Liam O’Brien.
One i don’t see here is “Rest…” or “So Tired…” after you kill them. It seems they don’t like being risen after all xD
I’ve heard them saying also “At last…”
Lore wise, I guess as they finally die for good they briefly recover their sanity as Zhaitan’s influence over them fades.
I like the music in Orr actually. It’s dramatic and suggestive, just as it would be as you enter the ruins of cursed city that sat for centuries on the bottom of the ocean.
Have you perhaps ever done a world boss event like Claw of Jormag? I’m sure the music won’t disappoint you there.
Ah so I’m not the only one whose attention was caught by that voice. I wonder who’s the voice actress…
I wish I had taken pictures… oh well.
By the way, all those who had connection problems during the event check this out if you haven’t already:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Disconnect-at-the-end-of-Lost-Shores-Event-Read-this
Apparently they’re sorting out some system to identify those who participated in the event but got unlucky with the disconnections.
Perhaps those that feel slighted because the couldn’t attend can feel a bit better that not everyone got phat lewtz. I can maybe get one gold in total for the two lvl 62 exotics I was rewarded with. They don’t even have a shmanzy fancy skin.
And yes I would have much prefered being able to choose a yellow reward that I could have use for now then exotics that are not really worth that much and which I can’t use.
Ah, tell me about it… I’ve got some nifty trident called Limitless Furnace, how cool is that?! Problem is that no one will ever buy because of “oh, underwater weapons” and I can’t even equip it.
Well shucks, but I won’t complain.
