I would not buy an AMD processor again that is not the new Piledriver architecture. Bulldozer has a whole slew of issues and failings.

Yes, they’re very overclockable, but they will lag behind anyway. Overclock.net should give you some insight into the overclocking ability of the i3 CPUs.

I would go for the i3 if you’re considering those two chips. The Bulldozer architecture isn’t the best, and the game seems slanted toward intel performance anyway. (I have the FX-4100 oc’d to 4.0Ghz)

However:
The new AMD Piledriver architecture (ex: FX-8350) is pretty good from the reviews that are out, and very well priced. You can get one for under $200 (if you can find them), and they compete with mid/higher-end i7’s. I haven’t found a place you can buy them, but I’m sure someone is stocking them.

Do the bots affect your playing of the game? I’ve seen them a few times, but I’ve never once actually seen them interfere with my playing of the game.

Report them and move on. Anet has already said they deal with bots in large batches, so you’re just seeing bots in between batches. Don’t fret, and just ignore them. No sense in getting all riled up.

I noted the same thing. Significant drop in FPS when enabling reflections, even when there aren’t reflections.

I don’t know how they implemented reflections, but they seem to have done a bad job of it. Other games MIGHT give you a 1fps drop for enabling reflections…and that’s only when there’s something reflective on the screen.

On the gear piece even it is Light armor, there are some tiny parts are metal or leather and it has different property of shine and matt. The fact it shows more brown because the surface of the material is either rock or metal.

I’m wearing all leather. The leather boots, shoulderpads, etc show very dark brown.

The coat, which is probably the shiniest piece, displays as jet black.

I got a Midnight Fire dye drop the other day. This dye seems to look a different color, depending on what you put it on. The dye color squares on the dying screen even look different.

For instance, the squares and dye color on my coat are jet black. Black as can be. Looks very very slick.

On the rest of the armor (gloves, shoulders, boots, hat, pants) it’s a very dark brown. Even the squares on the dying screen show a brownish color, and you can see a visible difference between those little squares and the ones right next to them on the coat…even though they’re supposedly the same color.

Why do the 'Cursed Shore" DE's keep drying up?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hickeroar.9734

My biggest gripe with Cursed Shore is that there’s little reason to get out of the “plinx” area. Once you leave this area you rarely see events going.

The bigger events, like greth, aren’t winnable unless you have a huge group, and the location is just too remote to draw in a lot of players. Basically after a server reset, greth is won….and then it stays contested until the next reset. Same goes for melandru.

They need a lot more small-scale event chains that start in the north and lead you into the south, where they need to have several bigger events waiting for you. Otherwise, Cursed Shore ends up as a farm-fest around the plinx area. It’s the epitome of boring. Fortunately we also have frostgorge.

While the point you make is good and I too believe Anet will have to deal with this, you went with extreme exaggerations and sensationalism so this is a lot less likely to get to Anet properly.

This isn’t extreme. This is par for the course. I rarely see events that DON’T look like this. It’s gotten to where I actually take combat screenshots to commemorate fighting something that I can actually see, since it’s so rare.

You get like three chests along the way….? Of all the things to gripe about…they just handed you a large piece of an exotic….and you gripe about it.

Its boring to farm for tokens, i’d rather run the thing 5 times hopeing for a drop than 5 times collecting tokens. And the chest are garbage.

What in the world would you expect? In “the other game,” You get the same thing. Tokens for use in armor….except you need a LOT more of them than GW2 provides. That means MORE farming for tokens. Tokens….and LESS loot (which is also useless for most players) which you have to roll for.

You’re griping about a non-issue that ANet has made easier in their game than any other MMO.

Your naive to think that GW2 has good rewards for running dungeons compared to other games. Your naive as well to assume A.Net has made it “easier” than any other MMO to get a dungeon set.

What the above poster was saying is he wants a high chance to walk out of a dungeon with a peace of loot and tokens. Not just tokens.

Go run a dungeon in RIFT or WoW or TSW or TERA or SWTOR. When your done one of the dungeons in those games you walk away with tokens, money and a peace of rare loot that you can use. The tokens in those games are there to provide rewards for those that A] Do not need gear or B] those that were not lucky and lost all their rolls.

Now you can say in GW2 there is no gear progression because you can easily acquire the best loot in the game. Well they could then instead make it so cool exotic looks drop in the dungeons. I would be happy if killing a boss guarantees me a Rare that I can then sell/salvage and a decent chance at a Dungeon Exotic set peace.

The fact that I look at a dungeon and I can immediately do some math and figure its gonna take me 40+ hrs to get that set turns dungeons into a horrible grind/farmfest. If I knew that I could cut that 40+ hr grind down because ALL bosses have a 10% chance to drop one of the set peaces then it would be easier to stomach that grind. Knowing that I would also get a Rare from every boss would make me feel better to because then I know I will be able to sell it or salvage it and get some nice mats.

I’m naive?

You apparently haven’t played any of the games you’re talking about because…I have….and you certainly don’t get a piece of rare or useable loot on most dungeon runs.

Running heroic dungeons in WoW will often yield nothing more than a green, blue, or higher that is still far inferior that what you’re already wearing.

In order to get a piece of Tier armor in WoW, for instance (which makes it easier than just about anything else other than GW2), you need AT LEAST 1600VP. Most of the good stuff is 2200…and a lot of it you can’t even get without farming raids, hoping you get a random drop and roll a winning bid for it after the 6 hours it took you to get to that point. The VP is also capped weekly at 1000, so you can’t even farm for this stuff past a certain point.

In GW2, you run (at the most) 390 divided by 60 tokens, walk to a dealer, and pick up your gear.

I have no idea what game you’re playing, but it certainly isn’t GW2 if you think those other games make getting good gear easier than this.

Don’t call me naive when you clearly don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.

All of that stuff you posted is done better by every other class.

No way. In my experience, no one can touch the support a fully support specced warrior provides in dungeons. They can drop banners and use abilities that make everyone around them nearly immortal.

I’ve sat there in AC as a ranger, being mobbed by gravelings, and had my health INCREASING due to a support warrior.

Back on topic though: I don’t even remotely think Rangers are underpowered in any way, even with this nerf. IMHO they’re one of the best classes in the game, and a minor nerf to firing rate is not enough to sway my opinion. You could probably argue that their fire rate was already too fast anyway.

Ranger SB Nerf: Not 40 milliseconds

Hickeroar.9734

To be fair, even with the nerf, I still generated enough aggro on the Champion at the end of Plinx to pull him away from whoever he was attacking, and on to me.

As far as the slowdown goes, I’m OK with a slowdown, if they bump damage appropriately to compensate.

I honestly don’t see why they didn’t do that in the first place. If the reason is actually the animation bug like they say it is, why didn’t they compensate? It doesn’t make sense to me that they can slow down a skill and just leave it at that because of an animation bug.

Anyway, I hope this is fixed BEFORE the next patch. I really don’t want to wait a week to play my main.

I suppose that’s where we differ. I’ll play it anyway. As I said, even with the nerf I’m still doing ample damage.

pay attention using Camera Tool, it’s not allowed, so you may be banned (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Is-this-camera-mod-legal/first#post281974)

Well, three things.

1. Gaile’s new post came out today. Basically says if it doesn’t automate gameplay (bots) or give a gameplay advantage (such as speed hacks, fly hacks, teleporting) it should be okay. This should be okay.

2. They currently have no third-party-app detection system. None. They rely on player reports for bots and fly-hacks and such. You can’t report someone for having a higher FoV, no way to know what FoV other people are using

3. Everyone should use the program until they take a more reasonable stance on this issue. What are they gonna do, ban 90% of their playerbase? Yeah, that would go over well.

Link to Gaile’s post?

Edit: Found it: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Policy-Third-Party-Programs

Yeah, according to this….the camera mod doesn’t actually violate any of those rules. The problem is, I don’t trust that the rules are actually what will be enforced by ANet. The last thing I want is to be perma-banned for doing something that is technically OK, but they choose to ban for anyway.

If it’s off-screen, it shouldn’t matter. As I said….looking at the ground.

Also, HL2 came out in 2004, and had full scene reflections that hardly cost any performance at all. I was able to run it just fine on a mid-range system, with ample framerate overhead.

There’s definitely something wrong with the reflection handling. Reflections are just not typically this costly.
