At one point i would of agreed with you OP.
but since they almost gave us back “old Acro” you really don’t need it.
yes it is riduculas you have to pick Acro/Daredevil just to get what you would from feline grace and the vigor nerf’s but thems the breaks.

The only condition they should fix is confusion. that condition is down right brain dead.
It’s completly biased due to how conditions are cleared. It should always be the first one cleared.
If you bury that trash vs a thief or low clearing profession it’s an instant win. the thief will have to blow all his ultilties to clear while dodging. which means he just took a kitten ton of damage(if not dead), he is on full CD (ulti) and out of Initiative (if they used inf strike to clear). it’s just plain dumb. considering a ranger can hit a button and clear 12 conditions.
Why the rebuffed that kitten is beyond me. it was litterly one of the first thing they nerfed in this game. and it was pretty much one of the few legitimate nerfs.

Depends on the Spec. I suppose if you assume “the hardest specs to play” It would look like this:
Thief: Reaction speed
Engi/Ele: Skill rotations
Necro/Ranger/Thief: Positioning
Ect Ect.
Let’s face it though this game is a hell of a lot easier to play now then it was at launch.
With the increase of Auto aiming, Aoe’s, Cleave, Ect This game is pretty much in the hands of the AI.
They should steal Blade and souls team combat for the map courtyard.
So the game starts:
It randomly picks 1 player from each team. They fight (or can swap out up to 3 times) The winner fight’s the second teams next player ect.
The map itself is a good size for 1vs1 or 2vs2’s.

There is No diffrence between the “skill level” ive seen during this off season to when the league’s where playing. The only diffrence now is your enemy team is usually as bad as your’s. so it’s at least a bit better then league play.
Example of Arena net Balance (recent passive Example)
First some basic math for thief’s. And an explanation on there new passive bullkittentery:
You get 1 init every 10 seconds with a thief, you can increase that to 2 with inf signet
Flanking Strike Cost 5 int, and Has been Nerfed Normalized to 1/2 evade frame. we lost out on 1/4 E Frame
The Trait “Who needs to hit a button” or some Evasion name is on a 40 second cooldown and it give’s 2 seconds of Evade at 50% life.
Since every thief in existence (sounds like alot but it’s only 10 at most) takes preparedness we have 15 base int plus the 8 we will get from regin over 40 seconds. (2 X 4 = 8 i think) which gives us a total of 23 INI. divide that by 5 (FS cost) you get 4 Uses. So 4 × 1/4 = you guess’d it 1 seconds of evade over 40 seconds…
this is how Arena net “Balances” this game, by removing player interaction (in this case it’s 4 keystrokes)and replacing it sub par AI driven Crap. There are better examples out there for most classes but i decided on this one because it was recent and the math was simple.
This post is already long so i’m not even going to start in on the why would you take S/d over D/D now point..
TLDR: I expect them to nerf active abilities and replace them with passives. which is the cause of the state of balance we have today.

That’s cause you can’t go color blind and lose diversions.
It’s a boring grind, that doesn’t even measure skill due to the fact that the reward Vs Risk is at it’s lowest point in gw2 history.
Locus that is a load of crap. You need at least 1 more teammate to hold a point. I pity you if you think you are single handly carrying your team. If you would look at your mini map you would see the real story.
I love these legendary player’s, there mechanically inept but think there skillful.
sadly they dont realize they are being carried by a bad matchmaker, Passives and power creep.
Keep pretending your good though, now that there is no Solo Q and you are not getting curb stomped every match i would probably even believe your delusion too.
Asking for an F ability that takes me back, I still remember the hordes of thieves asking for scorpion wire on an F slot, look how that turned out.
Oh well…i’m sure the guardians Wire is just as buggy as thieves.

There’s actually a reason why people do better at this game than others, no, it’s not getting teammates who play their part.
O oo I know!!! Passives! Or giving some profession the means (and multiple abilities) to defend against multiple profession type’s while some don’t have any!!

Not in this system, i would go so far as to say the very first league grew the population more then then second, but i have no data to back up my claim. I should also point out that my opinion is based on perhaps 30 games top’s this season. as i stopped playing this game for awhile and only recently picked it back up. (i wanted to see how bad the matchmaking was)
You guy’s are still missing the point of league’s, they where meant to grow the pvp playerbase, so eventually you might get some competition. Now can you honestly say some of these pve player’s ( i don’t mean that in a derogatory way) will want to come back?
Or how about someone in my shoe’s? Do you think i’m having fun solo wiping the enemy team and still losing because my teammates like to zerg? hell i’m running a zerk ammy on a dd / pp thief just to give myself some challenge. And if it ain’t fun for me how do you think the people i’m annihilating feel?
These leagues are doing more damage then good. Get over your pride and realize that without growing the playerbase this game will die, fast. you “top tier” (yeah right) player’s need to take the hit, but at least you might get some competition down the road.
It’s not MMR hell, they fixed that awhile ago. This is new. i refer to it as “The Pit’s”

So I will give you a quick backstory: I smurfed the majority of season 1, then eventally stop playing before season one ended. this basically mean’s my MMR is Below average. (or should be anyway)
This is putting me in the unique position to see both sides of this debate, and let me tell you it is absolutely hilarious down here. I’ll keep this half short and just say that next season you should probably consider removing Profession stacking.

Sorry Ninja i completly skipped your wall of text, while it is probably an intresting read, i’m still on break, and can’t be bothered putting in the effort towards this game.
So your probably wondering why i’m posting.
Increasing initiative is not a good idea. They did the same thing with s/d. while at launch you where effectively using all 5 weapon skills, the increase in initiative + damaging nerf’s made the majority of s/d thiefs’ just spam 3 (the last s/d meta is a good example, though i personally though that meta build was trash)
For S/p i would give it a modifier (Haste is 50% more efficent) this would put the IAS on haste back to 100% for pistol whip, which was the most fluid animation, plus it still gave your opponent time to react.
Dagger storm was great, until they nerfed it because it was “to strong vs pve” for 5 targets + DS was always your go to trait. for 1 player BV. i prefer IS (impact strike) now though.
CS is really good for swords (No quarter? the fury trait) synergies good with swords, now if i was running dagger i would be taken DA, but i find swords work better with CS. (If you didn’t buy hot yet pick Rage and CS it’s pretty efficient though your squishy If of course you know how to migrate damage though positioning)
Ritt, dagger’s where always meant to be thief’s top damaging weapon, i’m kind of confused why people think otherwise. your basically trading damage (daggers) for sustainability (s/d), you can’t have both on one set.
on another note, Are these changes worth trying?

I’m not gonna try not to get involved in this debate. cause well i’m on break from this game. but i do have to point out that you should be using cnd with S/d. sparingly.
An evade will only get you so far when there are mutliple channeling abilities in this game. Ideally you would want to stealth and re-position (inf. Return) so you could break targeting and Re engage (in an offensive posture opposed to the defensive one you just left)
Not to mention that at one time there was this thing called bunker guardians. While most thieves at the time where complaining, the select few could tell you that sword 1 daze + Mace crack (guardian stolen ability) Would break there rotations enough to 1vs1 them. (this also worked vs RTL Eles with ice spike)
There are lot’s of other uses, but well who cares.

Yup and it’s threads like this that reduced this game to idiot levels.
First off Its a 30% increase in the TOTAL time it takes to use your auto attack chain. that is not 30% more damage little newb. This means’ for once your not going to be able to use swiftness and calmly walk out of every single sword AA.
Second, Every single profession in this game has this amazing mechanic called dodging. perhaps it’s time you locate this feature.. If your really worried about BV..
3rd: stop your whining, Thieves where made for BURST/Mobility/Evasion The dev stated as much, but your to delusional to look it up.

Hello Anet, are you going to do anything about player griefing in game or not? I have entire team harassing me non stop all game and telling me to reroll or go kill myself if i don’t. I’m a fail thief what can i say i also put here instead of hear* i’m going to leave it up so people can secretly ridicule me. (Better then out in the open right fellow thieves)
I’m just gonna state a bunch of stuff it won’t be grammatically correct.
I like daredevil, but only because it fixes some of the core issues thiefs had before HOT. of course that is one of the problems with DD, it’s not accounting for the power creep the other professions received from HOT.
the only thing required to kill dare devils is timing. and since your using a full yolo build it wont take long before you get that back. the whole spec was “Cheaply done” though, pretty much every dd trait would fit into the acro line. and the ones remaining are just underwhelming copies of other traits.
s/d is pretty much dead honestly. your better of using it as a ultility set then anything else. If your still using s/d (I won’t give in!) you have to give up some ultilies to try and make up for the lack of damage and Slow IAS which is the only reason why i’m using impairing daggers.
The trait change hurt thieves, i don’t know to many thieves that went 3 lines, the majority always seemed to go 4.
The Majority of thieves (In PVP) are running DD/Trick and DA i prefer CS over DA but again i was running sword so i needed more damage over time instead of burst at 50%.
I don’t play this game as much as i used to. ill play a few games then take a break for a couple of days. the problem is other classes (besides thiefs) are boring to fight. and the majority of the fights they are being carried by passives.

I think Unrelenting assault fit’s the thief theme better then the reverant. but trying to convince the dev’s and other player’s might prove … difficult.
There are quiet a few bug’s on the thief class too. that’s probably having a effect on thieves overall “performance in the meta”
Thieves only need very minor buffs
-Increase base hp from 11k to 15 (this would allow for berserker / Sinister) while still being a “glass cannon” while mara would get you closer to a bruiser spec (be around 21k life)
-Clocked in shadow should be lowered from grandmaster.
-Swindler’s Equilibrium should increase IAS of sword abilities. as well as regenerate steal cd.
Those should work for sure. you might be able to tweak Pistol whip a bit, maybe remove the daze and add haste (for the PW animation, removes itself if you cancel casting, and does not stack with other forms) But since i already said IAS on S.E you might not even need it.
-S.Wire, change it to guardians version (It annoys me that thiefs have been asking for Swire on an F skill for years yet you gave it to guardians..)
-Roll for initiative Now breaks through Dragons Maw. (forcing every thief to use shadow step is not good for diversity) and since i have only seen the animation for dragons Maw 1 time since the patch released It’s bloody annoying. you could give it 1 stack of stability (3/4 second) that should do the trick.
Now to the OP, the problem with thiefs is simple, Anything i can do on this class i can do much easier on any other profession. Damage / Sustain / CC’s / Conditions the only thing we are “The best at” is mobility, but that is only with SB. and it leaves you out of iniaitive by the time you reach your point. on any other class they can just wpn swap into infinity. A “Nike Warrior” or “super speed Rev” isn’t that much slower then the thief (your talking about seconds, and that gap got smaller since you can’t stack inf strike into steal anymore (“change mechanics that have been in play for 3 years? well as long as its a thief!” -Anet)
You white knight’s are foolish, Do you know why they removed solo queue? it’s simple the queue times for there league player’s where to long. And why where they so long? Because both ESO and wildstar pulled player’s away. This is going to happen again with 3 new upcoming games. (bns / BD / CU) which means your queue times are going to increase yet again.
If you honestly believe pvp is the “fasters growing mode” you are not counting one important aspect. They killed WvW. this is where the majority of the new pvp players you see are from. they won’t last long in this mode because it’s based on AI over player interaction.
Again. No one is saying this game is going to die. we are saying expect longer ques.
On it’s own No. But it will draw some Pvp player’s away.
Then we have BDO which will draw some Pve player’s away
And farther down the line we have CU which will pull wvw player’s away.
It won’t kill this game but they will decrease the total player count.
Personally i hope a good chunk of people leave this game for the simple reason it might finally “Light a fire under Arena net’s kitten ”. I firmly believe they can fix all there kitten up’s but I Highly doubt they are going to receive enough funding to make it happen.
Bns and Bdo have a high chance of being P2w. most people are moving on because they realize it’s going to take arena net to long to fix the current problems. not to mention they really can’t. do you really believe they will nerf every other class but warriors and thieves? they can’t, it would cause way to many repercussions. so there gonna have to power creep them. which is going to cause even more problems.

Well considering you post in every single thread about thieves, It’s your personal crusade.
You Also assume that every thief wants to be OP, and more hilarious yet you think thieves will get “Mega Buffed”, You know if you read any of the threads you posted in you would see the majority of thieves want small targeted buff’s.
You do realize both the “Op spec’s” you listed have/had legitamte counters. there is this amazing profession called necromancer /mesmer that can strip boons, making your “Pistol whip hero” build obsolete, again you can simply walk out of pistol whip…
As for your “dodge spamming” remark, please learn what CC is, and for the last time. the evade frame on FS is now 1/2 second (down from 3/4 due to excessive whining)

If other professions have a 50 / 50 chance, then yes every class should 1vs1…
You seem to forget that fact that other classes could 1vs1 thief back when they where considered Op. I suppose if you didn’t play at the time you wouldn’t know that though.
If you had problems with the old s/d meta chances are you lack timing. that set is one of the easiest to kill since they increased inaitiative across the board, cut damage ect…. you do realize the IAS on s.d is so slow you just need swiftness to walk out of it no?
