I also agree with pimsley, the trait changed where fine for other spec’s but pretty much 80% of thiefs used 4 lines. i wouldn’t use sleight of hand before that change now i’m pretty much stuck taking it. and honestly the only reason i take that passive crap is to reduce the steal recharge time which they increased that patch..
let’s make this easy.
Best = Anything that does not require thought, complete with passives and spammy Aoe /w high sustain and thief burst damage.
Worst: Thief / warrior.

I que sometimes with a friend whos playing thief. Hes dangerous 1v1 and can eat revs and necros for breakfast. Also good at +1 to jump in, burst someone in 2sec and go somewhere else. Ppl have no idea how strong DD is. Underrated class atm and thats olny bc majority of thief community sux.
Almost no thieves play like this. Let me give you a rough outline how the average thief in spvp plays. Start the match by going to far to engage in pointless 1v1 and lose horribly to start match. Engage in as many meangingless 1v1s as possible during the match often on points the other team color that are guarded by people they can’t kill. Get involved in meaningless fights in the middle of the map off point. Get involved in big team fights and get zapped by random aoe. Cause everyone to rage with there incompetance. +1 one on side points and intelligent reading of the map to cap side points left open almost NEVER happens.
Thief community is to blame here tho. I know how average Joe plays. Most people that picked up thieves want to play it like rambo, they fail at it and screams thief sux. Good thief can be a gamechanger, i lost games and won just bc either me or my enemy had good thief that was keep decapping close/far. You basically have to let someone camp close in this situation forcing to 4v5.

It’s there own fault kdaddy, If they didn’t grind so much when the leagues started, they wouldn’t of been legend/diamond, which means faster match making.
They need to remove the activation time on Withdraw and Roll for iniaitive. They claim it’s only .1 second’s. i don’t believe that though.
A hilarious story: so the other day i seen a DH trapper on point. not a big deal, Flanking strike into INf signet (which basically means you port while in an evade frame) Than spam Roll for inaitive (get’s you out of traps).
yeah so banging on roll for inaitive all through the evade from FS, but it didn’t matter. in .1 seconds (activation time) he had taken me from 18k life to 0. now that hilarious part is even at launch d/d thief’s burst would still take longer then that. (Steal + cnd + BS)
Asking for changes on thiefs is pointless, the thief and warrior dev seemed to be the only two dev’s that tried to balance. the rest just aimed for hur dur power creep. don’t get me wrong i would love sword 2 back. as that added a ton of variety. but it’s unlikely….

It’s simple. Arena net took the player out of player vs player.
As for “People who think there good” You do realize half these thieves where annihilating these whiner’s for year’s. sadly these players don’t realize they are not winning now at all. it was just arena net’s nerf one power creep the rest approch that makes them believe there “more skilled” This is really common in ESL player’s.

If your a thief just play to have fun. the dev’s cater to the fingerless in this game and i cant see it changing any time soon. They already killed the combat of this game, it’s just a matter of time before pvp dies (Look at Wvw the exact same thing happened there)

well this is a blast from the past.
Thiefs really didn’t get to much with the expansion. you are pretty much dead on calling daredevil acrobatics 2.0. Staff is a decent weapon though. the problem is all the damage is loaded onto vault and #2 (If you can root yourself to hit with all 3 attacks).
If you remeber the old shadow step stomp technique you can use it on the new elite “Impact strike” you have to hit with the first 2 attacks but the last one doesn’t require a target. If you do enough damage with the 3rd attack to bring them to downstate it will count as an instant kill. it add’s variety but it’s annoying when you compare it to something like engineers function gyro where you can pretty much fire and forget.
Pve: this is locked behind the new mastery system, which means you can only get so far before you have to “grind” the next mastery to unlock X ability to proceed with the story. it is kind of annoying. I haven’t finished it so i can’t comment if it’s better then Ls1 or ls2. If you do want to see some pve, the sooner the better. eventally these maps will dry up and it will be harder to level your masteries.
Pvp: Every thief quit. making me the last thief in pvp and by defination the best!!. alright i kid. but most thief’s did move on to diffrent classes, even the ESL player’s so we should get a buff in 2-3 months or perhaps they will nerf other classes ( the better option). The problem is they added so much sustain, CC and Aoe’s to the other classes it’s extremly annoying to fight against them. i have crit people for a whooping 300 damage. which would be understandable if i was naked, but alas i’m semi burst.
As for are role. well that role wasn’t even viable when you think about it. the only time you can decap is if your teamates can hold two points (which will force the defender off point) not really possible when you are fighting 4 bunkers every match. as for +1
well Vault, Bounding dodger. Staff 2, impairing dagger’s. all do decent damage so that is still possible at least.
your best bet is just to log on and try it yourself honestly. just know you are going to die. alot

Stomps are worth five points,. this mean you need a kill total of 100 player’s in a span of 15 min’s OR every team member must kill 20 player’s each. This basically means you must stand on point at all costs! So remember, if you happen across an enemy on the road, just ignore him and skillful run . running is always the answer

The amount of stun’s they added is going to directly effect there retention rate. If you have played any mmorpg that released lately you have already seen this kill multiple games. (like archeage as an example) while you might see a temporary spike in your metric’s. ( you where going to see this from the expansion anyway) i can almost guarantee it will destroy the retention rate your so proud off.
those builds have no longevity, you get sick of them fast because they take control from the player. that is a huge mistake in a video game, one that is becoming more and more common.

Chances are he was hit with the AA full chain first, then hit with vault. This would show the 22k damage, but it’s from multiple attacks.
So let me get this straight, They Nerf Acrobatic’s because you guy’s couldn’t figure out that CC and conditions countered that spec. They hand out reveals, Aoe ,CC’s and conditions like candy (elite specs) then give thief’s a sub par version of acro. and your still complaining?

yeah i’m using exuberance myself the healing power is a complete waste on thief’s though, but with mara and no qaurter your sitting at 78% chance to crit with 200+ crit and around 2000 power. with 19 000 life

kagesigi, that build is clearly Op. you only have to use 2 ultilies to get 25 stacks, no it need to be nerfed to be more in line with are pure signet build….
now with 25 stacks of might on a reverant, it is clearly under powered, there sword 3 only hits for 11k, there 3 main damage abilities from hammer only hit for a pittance of 5k-9k. from 1200 range, needs buff’s to become viable..

Keyboard turner’s are there target audience, There just going to keep increasing CC, AOE, Passive defenses, Offensive passives, and anything else that doesn’t involve an ouch of brainpower. this game will never be anything more then a filler at this point.
