This trait has some problems which gives rev some problems. I think this is a beautifully designed trait that requires good energy management and rewards it, but there are some issues preventing this from working, which in turn makes the invocation line weak unless you’re running power builds.

I’ve submitted this issue to the in game bug report several times but to no avail. This has been an issue since BWE1

1. Weapon skills do not effect it. This could be a tooltip error.
2. It has a hidden internal cooldown of ~5s.
3. Upkeep doesn’t trigger the trait which is intentional but should be noted.
4. Energy must reach 49% or lower after the initial cost of a skill while energy is at 51% or higher, yet you can gain the might out of combat (energy =50%).

I really don’t want to have to wait till next quarter to see if this gets fixed. It’s been an issue since the start and I really want to use it when it works.

Their pvp system isn’t so much a ladder as it is an escalator. You’re always favoured to gain pips (due to loss breaking streaks) so everyone gets pushed up to legend making it redundant to segregate tiers.

Yeah, it’s all been said a lot. It’s aggravating that they haven’t been fixed. A lot of these things have been well documented for a year now but the devs have remained quiet on this front. Some of the issues could be hard to fix like searing fissure but then there’s envoy of exhuberance having a basic number issue is just bad.

Projectile Denials Are a Problem

The number of projectile reflect skills and projectile blocking skills that have been introduced is ridiculous and skewing the pvp meta to favor certain professions. This wouldn’t be bad if there weren’t so many or if they weren’t so easily accessible. Keep in mind when I say “Bulwark Gyro” I’m referring to it’s toolbelt skill.

Tempest is the big one. It didn’t so much add them as much as it did benefit bringing them, as the tempest aura traits are very powerful and the best weapon for that is focus which gives a short reflect and aoe block. Overload earth is the big addition, which wouldn’t be bad if the aforementioned issue of aura sharing being prioritized by tempest, but since it is, it allows for kitten aoe magnetic aura every 20-25s depending on attunment swap time. In team fights, a single tempest can shut down any projectile based players for 10-15s every 30s where as a base ele can only achieve 6-9s in the same interval.

Scrapper brought in the most with electro-whirl and bulwark gyro. With these two skills a lone scrapper can probably stay projectile immune for around half the time (5s from gyro on 25s cd + 1.5s for the 4 electro-whirls you can cast in the mean time). If these were blocks alone this wouldn’t be a conversation to have but their reflects so the danger a scrapper poses is also very high. This is without mentioning their sheer power scaling.

Druid is the other one. It added one skill, Sublime conversion, which again, not too bad as a stand alone skill. It only truly becomes an issue in team fights when it allows for 5s of every 25s interval to have projectile immunity. A few other issues

These two combined (and used in coordinated teams ofc) allow near permanent projectile denial in team fights. Why is this a problem? It prevents certain builds to be viable in high tier pvp and cripples them in low level. It’s why every esl game is just a team of a tempest, scrapper or sometimes druid, necro (few projectiles), revenant (few projectiles+other issues), and a mesmer (few projectiles). I’d like to see higher variation in games but this issue really hurts any class outside of the current meta. I’m not saying this is the entire reason teams look like they do, there’s still balancing issues, but I am saying it does discourage teams from taking say, a dragon hunter or a d/p thief.

PS: I’m going to make a special note that swirling winds has a higher cooldown than bulwark gyro, is roughly the same size and is stuck in place. Electro-whirl is also just a more accessible/more useful version of whirling defense.

I’ve played with and against Drew. He didn’t get carried, he can rotate well and can spike well so warrior may be underpowered but a good player is always more valueble

DH, condi rev (power works too but when doesn’kitten and reaper are the best rn. Dodge when you see moa morph activate (the tell is the chicken signet over their head), dodge when you see 3 clones running with super speed towards you cause they just shattered and stay out of chaos storm. High cleave kills clones which means they cant shatter which means they cant spike which means they’re useless. If you get moa-ed just kite around and save 5 for when they try to burst you. If you’re reaper make sure to reflect condis and save 1 dodge for that moa cause its worst for you.

Yeah the system needs work. Not being able to make it to legend isn’t it (although mmr hell is real).

I made legend and shouldn’t have. I don’t win consistently, I make awful plays that lose team fights, I run nonviable builds, some people hate me and I get it, I deserve that. Im not the worst player but I am by no means legend rank. Ideally I’d say diamond, but here I am. I made legend in about a month on mesmer, rev, necro and guardian. Wasn’t legend supposed to take the entire season to get to unless you’re really good?

The issue is that the system is incredibly forgiving. Loss streaks and winstreaks are an issue. Loss streaks shouldn’t exist at all cause it’s a pvp ladder… Winstreaks are good in theory but hear me out. These are what made me get to legend. Win 5 in a row, lose 5 in a row and you’re up by 2 and if you win the next one you’re just -1 from the win streak. I get that the best people should be moved up fastest but idk if this is the way. I know legend queues are (or used to be ) horrible since the people at the top are too few so i guess it could be said that they’re moving up too fast. (A solution could also be to make the ladder longer?). I also probably got into MMR heaven out of luck because I was frequently paired with top tier players after playing with good premade teams which just kept my winstreaks rolling.

Now Ima address the people raging in ruby.

MMR hell is real. If you don’t know what mmr hell is a known issue where your personal mmr gets low and you get matched with people with lower mmrs but you don’t face equally low mmr players but rather whomever in your division, which makes no sense. It’s kinda like when your mom forced you into soccer cause you needed exercise but you didn’t want to and you had to play against the athletic kids under the argument “well they’re all 7.” Except this is actually competitive and you should be competing with people of equal caliber. Both division and mmr is stupid to have when you don’t apply it to both sides. You can get out by playing on a team or even just duo queue if you’re both good enough but it’s a kitten solo. I know where you’re coming from.

On the other hand you gotta earn getting to legend. Not everyone is supposed to make it, not if you don’t learn how pvp works or are open to it. I had someone rage at me and tell me i should go to pve because I don’t know what Im doing but that’s literally all he does (I always check my block list before a match). He was mad that I was backcapping and didnt seem to understand the 1 point per node captured but instead was convinced it was who ever had more captured nodes made the points, like in company of heroes. Ive also seen a power necro rush into mid where they all are, and we aren’t, died instantly then kittened and blamed everyone else.

Playing around bad players is something you unfortunately have to learn, which leads to some janky kitten plays but does win matches. You’re also probably gunna have to run a bruiser build so you can either hold or push. For instance, you have one guy always rushing far and dying like an idiot but you’re on foefire so by the time he respawns and gets there the guy 1v1ing him has had time to get to mid, wipe you, and return to far? Head far with him and 2v1 that node then when the enemy team comes to avenge, run away. Is everyone brawling for tranq? Back cap. Everyone died at mid including you? Homes a safe bet. Im sure im not 100% correct with these but you can almost always pull a bad team if you’re good enough. The only time you cant is when someone throws a match on purpose and does nothing. These times you just have to breath it in maybe alt tab out in the time, and pray you don’t get him again. idk if devs approved report for botting this season but try it anyways. I wish there was a surrender option where under certain conditions, you can make a vote to end the game.

But yeah, this system needs work but tbh its a lot better than last season, and party up, get out of mmr hell

You shoulda seen last meta or the cele ele meta. Cele ele meta had the one dominant build every one ran and last meta it was just… ugh. Bunker mesmers, revs and tempests. Maybe a scrapper or a druid but almost never.

Matchmaking issue

Im not sure if this a bug or what but this cant be intentional. We were all solo queueing and no one had swapped, this was how it started. There needs to be some class diversity when queuing rather than it literally just being 4 revs on 4 necros.

EDIT: one was mid switch i was too slow on the camera.

So when will this double moa mesmer madness nerfed? 1 Moa is already too OP enough and can be a game changer. But two moas in a half decent mesmer hand is way too OP.

You should see elixer x. Aoe moa. But no it’s not OP its a risk to do that since you double its cooldown to do that. Just kite in moa form its pretty easy.

How to deal with power revenants?

The passive taunt is bs. Not denying that. Don’t chase a rev ever. Hold your ground and throw a test of faith down. Your f1 should be saved for crystal hibernation as it is unblockable or its activation can interrupt our evades namely reposting shadows. To avoid the staff simply move in a circular pattern and if you expect it, dodge forwar or f3 of course. Usually used when they switch to shiro stance. The longbow 3 is unblockable that can be a good interrupt and 5 can really mess a rev up since it prevents dodging and stunbreaks. DH can wreck a rev idc what people say, the number of unblockable abilities you have is insane.

No blast combos at start anymore?

I really miss when this happened. Why does no one else do this any more? I set up fire/lightning fields do one blast myself see one or two thieves with their short bows out doing nothing or a scrapper with a hammer out running at the gate. Is there a reason for this? It really helps to have 25 might/2min of swiftness at the start of a match. This has been going on since HoT, which isn’t surprising, but needs to be amended.

Keep in mind:

  • Scrappers and tempests have lightning fields
  • Condi revs, eles, engies with bomb kit, some guards, some rangers have access to fire fields
  • Anything but mesmer and necro can do a blast at the start. Especially shortbow on thief.

Theres only 1 thing that has to be toned down and its herald. They also played old comp (shield revs lmao) and eles carried them like a princess.

But its okay, lets base balance around “pro league” played by kids <cough>

Herald needs to be nerfed, like all elite specs. Mostly in the traits department and in Facet of Nature’s activation being a 20s cooldown Save Yourselves. Sure its a little weaker, but its still super strong. We also need bugs fixed, but we got a npc so i guess were okay.

Currently there are no Gemstore options for pvp. There used to be finishers but they were moved to black lion chests for unkown reasons. I personally think they didn’t work cause they were far too expensive for their worth but they were something.

The reason I think this would be good is to make anet some money so that they can hire more people to hopefully make more content and fix old content.

So to cut unneeded text, here are my suggestions.

  1. Reward Tracks
    This is an easy one. Add reward tracks that give mini chieftan, svanir, red lord, blue lord and if you have all you can mix them in to get a gift of ascended llama to mix 3 Lavish Llamas to make an ascended llama which also burns like The Ascension backpiece. Add 2 black lion keys to the mix, price em for 400 gems each and I’d buy all buy all 4. Also add a secondary one at the end so that you get a permanent tonic for them.
  2. Black Lion Reward Track
    This ones different, as it would cost gems to unlock but would be repeatable. In this one you get 2 keys and as a final reward, a full black lion ticket. It’s gotta be worth it and you gotta work for it. I’d charge 300gems at most for this.
  3. Reward Track boosters
    Something to boost rewards, not the rate. That already exists. So say instead of getting 60 tokens from a dungeon track you get 70 or 75. Nothing major but a nice change. This would of course mean adding new items into the game so people couldn’t just hoard them so I don’t blame not adding this.
  4. Obrin Ruin Ticket
    Turn Obrin Ruins into a place like the cpts airship or the jubilee station and sell tickets. It’s just sitting there why not do something with it? This one could sell more since HotM is a place many people have to wait around doing nothing. It seems mutually beneficial.

Give your suggestions people. Id like more playable content and less bugs. If gemstore purchases means that then I support it fully. (Of course I am being naïve but whatever)

Precision Strike works as intended

A) precision strike is supposed to be powerful 1v1 but weak in team fights
B) backstab is good for 1v1s and teamfights
C) vault does more DMG than backstab so if you’re going to compare it to something…
D) precision strike is very buggy. I know that’s not intended but it definetly nerfs it to a degree.

Despite that prec strike needs a change. It’s clunky to use and to deal with

i used Backstab as an example becouse it’s the iconic burst damage ability of the older metas and unchanged since then. The fact that the power creep has no mark on it makes this skill a good comparison imo.
(also vault is broken as fxck not to mention pulmorarity impact if we want to talk about the dark sides of thief.)
to talk about the topic, the usual ‘Anet-sollution’ like -5% dmg is out of question.

I agree backstab should be the strongest single hitting skill when behind, if not second behind grave digger. That’s a totally different argument though. I think the main problem is as you said, power creep.

PvP/Profession Bugs Effecting Gameplay

There numerous bugs in GW2 pvp that have been around for a long time. HoT brought in a lot and many have yet to be addressed/fixed. Many of these are relevant outside pvp as well, however they influence pvp heavily, as they cause frustrations, internal class imbalances and in severe cases can win/lose games. Here are the main bugs:

  1. Ressing off teammates deaths. That’s when you and your teammate are downed, one of you get’s deafeated and as a result you go back up. I did this last night. It still happens.
  2. Lack of indicator rings. Many of the new AoE abilities brought in from Heart of Thorns still lack a red ring if an enemy uses them, sometimes they’re white and sometimes they’re not even white if an ally uses them so you just don’t know. Such skills are Dragon’s Maw, Hunter’s Ward, Symbol of Energy, mesmer wells, Elemental Burst, etc. There are more, all of which have been documented in other forum posts.
  3. Profession bugs, or more specifically elite specs + rev bugs. Here Revenant’s for example small list that makes Jalis worse off than it already was. I report every bug when I find them, despite there not really being a section for them in the bug report option. These really effect balance.
  4. Non-animating abilities. Some abilities, namely dragonhunter ones, do not animate with a lower end graphics card. My new card shows them my old one does not. Combined with no rings, you can die without having a clue what killed you.
  5. Pull launching (when you use a pull skill on an enemy but the terrain is uneven and you launch them in the sky causing fall damage which can lead to an instant death). This one is friggen hilarious mind you but it is a bug. Almost any pull skill can do this but spear of justice does it the easiest.
  6. The stomping bug. If you don’t know this one, it’s been around since launch and on occasion a stop will not go through. The full animation will occur but the enemy player won’t be defeated. This one doesn’t happen too often so it’s not too severe, but it does happen. It just happened like 20min from post.
  7. The maps Battle of Champion’s Dusk, Skyhammer, Battle of Kyhlo and Spirit Watch haven’t been worked to work with HoT. For instance Super Speed and new teleports work with the orb, many elite spec/rev skills hit or are effected by the building objects in the other three maps, the pathing on new teleports can drop you down holes in Skyhammer, and the skyhammer itself is an attackable object.
  8. Z-Axis issues with new abilities. This is in all modes but when you see “no valid path to target” in pvp or if your ability doesn’t work at all it just gets you a little angrier than in pve.
  9. Final moments of death not recorded. If you die too fast in pvp the final abilities that killed you will not be recorded by the combat log/timeline, which can make it hard to figure out exactly what killed you.

I have ordered this in list of severity. Many of these issues have existed since the first beta of Heart of Thorn and others have been around since launch, so the specifics for item 3 should be stored wherever the client-side bug reports are stored.

They won’t update on balance, to be quite frank, outside True Shot, Bristleback, Elixer Gun’s sustain and Chill damage/Necros obscene boon corrupt potential (all of which aren’t too op but are over tuned) not much needs a nerf. War might need a buff still but outside that it isn’t bad. There isn’t a meta yet so that’s good.

The bugs however, those need to be addressed

That is exactly the problem. You shouldn’t be able to kill anything while being as tanky as a druid.

Yep, this. Exactly this. I don’t mind having a class that can do damage and sustain but with Rampage as One, or whatever they call it now, a druid has access to a lot of cc, healing, damage and condition removal party wide. It would make sense that druid would be weaker at damage dealing but dps needs to come at a cost which quite frankly doesn’t exist. DPS should be coming from a weapon that scales with power/condition damage, not a pet which has its own scaling system.

WTG with the thief buff – as if they weren’t strong enough already! You have totally ruined PVP now – it’s just gonna be a bunch of necros and thieves running around going forward.

I have no idea what you people are even thinking sometimes! :/

Did you even see the last meta? All it was was bunker mesmers and revenants, sometimes a tempest, occasionally a druid, and seldom a reaper or a dragon hunter. You never saw thieves or warriors, now you do. It’s much better now imo, not perfect, but better. It’s also a lot more fun now, rather than the slow drawn out battles that test patience more than ability.

Realistically all id need from enchanting daggers to be usable would be to make it unblockable. Then it wouldn’t use a stack of unblockable attacks and wouldnt be dangerous to use on engis/eles. It also wouldn’t allow for an unblockable burst, since they won’t proc unless the initial attack was unblockable…

UA wouldn’t need a DPS buff if its single target only since I can hit for 10k already.

It’s a little harder to use now with all the necro boon rip. Basically you kinda have to feel the situation and respond accordingly. Condi heavy fight? Use pain absorb + facet of nature to maintain resistance. Aren’t being targeted? Build energy than focus a target down with 5 banishes and swap then UA or mace 2+3 → sword 2 then jade winds if youre still not pressured.

Revs Squichy?

Rev has a lot of blocks/evades to midigate damage. It also has a lot of offensive potential, despite what the forums say. Don’t use sword rn, its bugged and doesn’t scale up so keep that in mind. With shiro you want to play it more like a hit and run class. Burst and run, your heal also does a fair amount of damage and be very, very careful of enemies with reflect skills cause they can reflect your heal.

Don’t even try that kitten. Rev is buggy as hell. Most unused things arent even able to be determined if they need buffs cause they just don’t work.

Hi. In this thread im gonna post my changed regardless rev to weak/underused traits, skills or weapons. I have been trying hard to not end up with them on “op side” but as everyne knows.. its not really possible – something will always slip in.

A feedback will be welcomed to make a rev a better class than what it is now without turning it into a monster. Theres nothing fun walking over your opponents with face on the keyboard. I decided to balance it out via specializations where each traitline has a role, each legend has a + and – offering a counterplay to enemy and really give us that feeling we really change the class with the moment when we press that magic f1 key. For example Jalis was buffed to be highly resistant to power damage and hard cc but can be countered by soft cc and conditions

As a core rev masochist i also want to reduce the gap between core rev and herald. Herald shouldnt feel like superior to core rev, it should instead provide alternative playstyle focused on boons unlike core rev that has nearly no access to them. I wont post all of the changes at once but over time making sure everything is finished. I will start with a devastation, shiro and dual sword as i feel they are finished and ready to share.


  • Devastation. Goal of this traitline is to improve damage, mobility, Shiro stance.
  • Adept

1. Ferocious Strikes. Changed to provide 150 ferocity while wearing sword in mainhand.

Just a sword trait in Shiro theme which is all about fury, ferocity and damage in general.

2. Vicious Lacerations. Removed and replaced with Assassin Speed. +25% Movement speed with no special req.

Reason for this is the fact core rev lack a trait to increase it movement speed or any access to swiftness forcing them to use herald traitline+Glint for swiftness upkeep facet or into traveler/speed rune.

2. Malicious Reprisal. Gain 2seconds of unblockable attacks when striking a foe below 50% hp. 30cd.

Current interraction is too random and can proc on random aegis rendering the trait to be useless when needed given it high cd.
2 attacks are also nothing special when revenant is actually a multi hit profession.
This trait triggering at 50% gives revenant more control to time it properly rather than be a pure rng trait that might or might not trigger in proper time.

  • Master

1. Jade Echo. Cd reduced to 45sec.

Reason is simple – current cd is way too long to even consider this lore trait.

2. Nefarious Momentum. Gain fury for 4seconds when using Shiro stance skills.

We dont need might on Shiro, what core rev lacks is access to fury to make proper use of Roiling Mists in invocation.
Atm its quite poor trait and 2 might doesnt really offer us anything when we have Glint.

  • GM

1. Dismantle Fortifications. Interrupting a foe put their recharge on longer cd (10sec). Additionally life siphon from interrupted foes (800 life siphon).

In current state this trait is absolute garbage. Extra stack of stability doesnt mean anything to a class that already doesnt have a lot of cc to begin with. Funny enough is that if someone has one stack of stability with this trait equipped he still wont cc the target. It also doesnt affect breakbars.

In this interraction we gain another unique way to hurt enemies by interrupting their skills and putting them on a longer cd while also healing a bit by doing so.

2. Assassins Annihilator. Now triggers regardless of position.

QoL change mostly needed for hammer weapon and vengeful hammers change.

  • Shiro – Stance focused on mobile, evasive playstyle. Weakness: conditions, group focus, high pressure.

1. Enchanted Daggers. Changed functionality. Now it heals 6,5k upon casting summoning 6 daggers for next 10 seconds for extra pressure. Damage of daggers reduced by 20%. Unblockable.

Reason for that is the fact that this healing skill works poorly in all game modes as it cannot be used as emergercy button and trying to heal up often results in death.
It doesnt provide enough heal from daggers to actually survive, even less so when we trying to kite.

Also given how much counteprlay daggers have (affected by terrain, dodges, reflect, range, kiting and so on) poor synergy between hammer and recent nerf to ua this change completely justiced.

2. Phase Traversal. Cd removed, energy cost increased to 25. Insta cast.

Revenant was all about energy management. Balance should be done by adjusting energy cost otherwise we take double punishment and the whole energy management or the energy itself is a moot point. The only skills that should have cd+energy cost are cc’s as they are usually too strong to be spammed.

In current where on top of it failing most of the time it also can be interrupted, be affected by power block (15s recharge) or chill increasing cd to 8sec.

25 energy is equal to 5sec cd, if some rev decide to use it 2 times in a row he will be forced to swap due to lack of energy. Swap also removes this ability for next 10second so during that time anyone can run away.

Insta cast was also added for 2 reasons;
First if it fail aka invalid path it wont do animation consuming energy, all it will show will be “no valid path” most of the time
Second due to the fact that its is the only one teleport skill in game which we cant use as escape from hard cc let it be dragon maw, slisk shoes.

  • Sword MH

1. Autoattack. Feel free to skip that one.

Its a clunky mess that need to be cleaned up. How come 2nd hit has 3/4 cast while last one has just 1/2? Also stab as opener..no. It has to go. It doesnt make logical sense to open up to anyone with a stab (used as finishing move). Stab also experience issues with connecting to mobile targets.

2. Precision Strike. Changed to melee target skill with a cleave up to 3. Keep current damage and change it to 3 fast slashes (flurry animation anyone?) each slash does 1sec chill.

If we are supposed to single out enemies with sword according to dev words, give us tools to do so. Current precision strike is a disaster. Sword is also a melee weapon therefore it should be threated as one.

3. Unrelenting Assault. Changed to single target skill. Increased damage per strike by 15%, removed might.

Again, this ability doesnt make much sense as aoe skill anymore due to the recent nerf and the idea about singling out enemies.

Damage from this skill was also hit too hard given how much counterplay it got by lowering it duration. Aoe nature of this skill is also the reason why it proc confusion few times and break on stealth unlike other channeled skills.

  • Sword OH

1. Duelist’s Preparation. Removed casttime.

Reason for this is the fact that in current state the block itself can be randomly interrupted by enemy. It also need a fix in block duration as it end earlier than the animation itself unlike warrior riposte (also sword 4).

2. Shacking Wave – Increased damage by 120%

It hits kitten too low for a counterattack skill when we compare it to everything else. 2sec immobilize doesnt justify the low damage it does really either.

3. Grasping Shadow. Changed to 2 second stun.

A pull in melee doesnt make much sense, making it a range pull steps a bit on axe as well.
Overall idea behind this skill was to separate foes from groupfight but..it doesnt work at all as we dont really have tools to prevent them from running back nor it doesnt make much sense when my team want to focus x target and i just pull it away from them
Pve wise its also a poor skill as it causes dps loss due to the fact it pulls me away from the boss and closing the gap takes time.


  • Corruption. Goal of this traitline is to gain benefits from conditions, improve condition damage and Mallyx.
  • Minor

Opportune Extraction. Torment has increased damage to stationary foes by 100%. (equal damage to mobile foes)

Mostly a change needed for pve as its our primary damaging condition, but it also needed for stronghold mode vs npcs. Might need to be toned down to 75%

  • Adept

1. Demonic Defiance. Reduced duration of resistance to 1 second. Removed icd

Overall goal was to undo the unnecessary nerf and shave this trait a bit so its no longer a must pick option.

2. Replenishing Despair. Removed icd, reduced healing to ~70

I think previous beta interraction was fine but overshadowed by demonic defiance trait.

3. Venom Enhancement. Cd reduced to 10. Poison also deals 33% more damage

  • Master

1. Frigid Precision. Also apply blind when you chill foe.

I feel like it should make it a bit more interesing choice than what it is atm. Blind also has 10cd btw.

  • GM

1. Maniacal Persistence. Gain critical chance for each condition on your foe (3% per condi)

An alternative to roiling mists for condi builds allowing them to go dev/corr/herald.

2. Pulsating Pestilence. When you get 3+ conditions on yourself you will copy conditions to next foe that hit you. 15cd

  • Mallyx – Stance focused on condition manipulation. Weakness; Hard CC, high power pressure

1. Empowering Misery. Also gain 3sec resistance (applied before healing)

2. Pain Absortion. Now applies resistance only when you transfer condition to yourself and burn foes around you. 2 stacks of burning for 2sec, 1sec resistance per condition transfered, 600 radius, reduced energy to 30.

The resistance uptime from this skill is far too high allowing it to transfer over to next stance and keep up it permanently if played wisely.
As compensation it had added burning so it doesnt feel completely useless outside of teamfights.

3. Banish Enchatment. Increased energy cost to 25.

Being honest.. this skill is broken, it hard to dodge due to the little tell it has and does too much for the energy cost. I have seen many people swapping to Mallyx just to spam this skill. Increase in energy cost should tone this skill a bit i believe.

4. Embrace the Darkness. Condition copy is brought back! While this skill is active conditions cannot be cleansed off revenant. To details;

Duration of copied conditions; 3sec
Also pulses resistance every second
Pulse interval; 1sec
Torment duration reduced to 3sec
Upkeep increased to -8

While the other 2 (3..part of) abilities to non condition builds, this one is a tool to face condition builds and fight them “fire with fire”.
Its the main strenght of Mallyx allowing him to resist conditions as long you have energy to do so while at same time sending them slowly back.
While it sounds crazy op on paper i dont believe it end up this way. Mallyx should feast on conditions and punish people for dumbing them on him but at same time
Mallyx offensive capalicies are limited while still being exposed to power damage or hard cc.
The counter to condition builds for Mallyx is simple – bait out energy and condi bomb right as rev swap legend

I like it. I don’t know about the auto attack, yes brutal blade (2nd one? Not sure) needs to have a lower cast time, if anything the last one should have the 3/4s. I also like the idea of grasping shadow (that hit range needs to be doubled though) because repostitioning an enemy can mess with the coordination of the enemy, such as in res situations. It could be changed for pve, that would make sense.

Other then that it’s pretty spot on. I supported the 5s cd on phase traverse but if it’s gunna remain this unreliable, it needs to change. I just hope devs are reading this and your bug post, which should be made sticky…

I wonder tho how much this would change prices of item like amalgamated gemstones. You can make orbs with 4 double clicks then make the gemstones with 4 more double clicks. That’s a lot of work and I think one reason why it’s more expensive to buy orbs outright or to buy the gemstones outright is because of the work behind making them. It would hopefully just level out rather than all the “base” materials bumping up in price so that there’s very little difference in buying outright versus crafting in the forge.

I’d rather they just changed added three recipes: one for 10 AmGems (requiring three stacks of 30 gemstones|comparables) and one for 100 AmGems. That still allows people to craft at their own rate while also allowing people to speed up the rate.

That, right there. Easy to implement and perfect idea. I just don’t want arthritis or macro something just cause I wan’t a use for my cores. Also AmGems, although I don’t make them as much. As for the price change? I could care.

Sword works alright for the block and landing a grasping shadow feels great. That being said the reposte ability is very awkward and costly and grasping shadow is just hard to land

Herald is too necessary

There are many nice Builds without Glint, it’s not necessary. You will get to the point at duells for example where you use shiro 90% of the time.
Mobility? Yea, one stunbreaker. Wow.
Survival? Yea, one easily interruptable Heal, and protection if you want to use all your energy, lel.
Damage? yep, if youre not alone. Alone its mediocre at the same level with other classes.
Glint, more pure dmg than shiro? nah.
Spamming weaponskills? Yea if you switch stances constantly, using glints skills only isnt very effective.
And Glints skills DO need energy. Facets? Ever heard of? Theyre up most of the time if you want to provide buffs to your party, the more buffs the less weaponskills can be used.

Glint isnt what I think is overwhelmingly needed but rather the traits. It’s just better to have the trait line than anything else for what you need.

Herald is too necessary

I don’t know why it was designed the way it was. It’s too crucial for any rev build especially with the nerfs. I’m also not saying “nerf herald” but rather buff everything else.

Heres my argument for why:

  1. Radiant Revival. I like having revive traits, and they’re fairly needed in pvp. So if you’re not running herald your not reviving.
  2. Facet of Nature. Good idea, but bad implementation purely in the “get every boon every 20s” department.
  3. Everything is balanced around the +15% boon duration buff. Or at least it really seems that way, especially Mallyx now.

Tldr it improves survive, support, mobility and damage. One of those can not stay.

I like the mystic forge idea, I do. I don’t want the idea or the forge to go away. I’m also not here to talk about the RNG of the forge. I think the way the forge is used is clunky. If you have a known forge recipe, like upgrading a core to a lodestone, I would like the option to say make X number of them rather than clicking the 4 ingredients 500 times and waiting for the animation to go through. This works for the lottery system of the forge but not the crafting aspect. This is why I’m suggesting a “new” way the forge works. A way already in the game and could be transferred over easily. What is it you ask? The crafting system. Have a discovery tab that works exactly like the way the forge works, where you can throw in 4 rares or whatever and a recipe page which allows for mass production.

Fixing Major Revenant Issues

However, that doesn’t mean the base legends and traits should be as bad as they are now, particularly Jalis/Retrib & Ventari/Salv. Mallyx and Shiro are good enough to stand on their own as legends, but each Specialisation line needs some work in particular areas.

Mallyx is far from being good enough. Carried by 3 traitlines is not something i would consider stands good on it own. I am playing core rev atm and the resistance upime i am getting..is just poor. Trait on herald+f2 is what caused rev being able maintain perma resistance. In fact i still can do it in herald without any issues.

Shiro is the only one who can stand up on it own – well almost. Theres one problem with him and thats is “healing skill”. But in general he works with everything except Ventari obviously.

This is really accurate. Mallyx needs both corruption and herald to be useful, otherwise the resistance upkeep is too low. Even after those two you need either invocation or retribution to deal with cc. The offensive potential of it is alright, well actually it’s just banish enchantment. Unyielding anguish and embrace the darkness both suck, especially EtD without corruption + diabolic inferno. As I and many many other people have said “Mallyx still needs work”

More than just energy reductions are needed. The delays, tiny circle and cast times are going to cripple ventari still.

Who is this guy who have take the name of a famous witcher? A “pro player” i assume. And, coz he has said mesmer are op everyone have to follow him for sure. Non talking about the fact that mesmer have been huge nerfed too.
Anyway i’m tired of this ball game with everyone saying “you’re op” “we’re not”! It’s so childlish.
Talking about “fine” state of the revenant now. I think more people here are not really complaining coz of sword or shield nerf, it’s not the the real problem. The problem is, like 90% of people here are saying, that,that for a classe who can choose 5 legends, being stuck in only two is really odd. People here are complaining about the lot of bugs revenant still have 6 months after his realease and the useless state of the tanking and the healer legends, who are never used coz they are so bad compared to others. Revenant still feel like a class which is not finished, and it’s actually the reality.(just take a look to corruption traitline which is still designed for old condition eater Mallyx) That’s why more people are complaining here.

This is very accurate. A lot of needed balancing hasn’t been done, Ventari hasn’t been good since BWE1 and hasn’t been touched. There has been a lot of things promised to be changed, like the Corruption traits mentioned, and none of it has been changed. There are also a ton of bugs with revenant that make some traits/abilities unusable, bugs that have, again, existed since the first beta weekend. Anet needs to get this kitten done, it’s long over due. It’s also not like these haven’t been mentioned over and over again. They’re constantly talked about, and nothing has been fixed nor has their been mention of a fix in the future.

The nerfs they did were fine. They just didn’t also fix the outstanding issues or acknowledge them… You know, the issues that have been a thing since BWE3. With the necro buffs and bunker nerds, condi revs are kinda just food rn (Im using sages too) so there’s a lot to be desired.

Rev condi clear

Was wondering what people used for getting condi clear on their rev, i know we have traits for this but tbh they are useless, dodge roll is only 1 and i dont want 2 swap legend just to clear a single condi. ive tried using mallyx for the resistance but if that gets corrupted, which atm it dose all the dam time, it pointless. any thoughts? (i should said im playing power with 100% crit chance and am using a generosity in my off hand)

I use glint and just tank them with infuse light and try to revive whenever I can for that bonus infuse light. There isn’t much, usually staff + invocation are all you can do. The best thing to do is just avoid getting them in the first place, which I know is hard but it’s your best option.
