Druid Healer Confirmed - Feedback [merged]

1- it is very likely that druids will be almost necessary for the new Raids content, that’s almost certain.
5- Finally, as for PvP (that’s what I’m most interested in): there is a lot of potential here but not as you guys may think; I really don’t think full healers druid will ever be a thing simply because the druid as it has been presented to us would be a too easy target. As it is right now Druid has amazing heals but nothing else, that means absolutely no stability, no blocks, no invulns, 1 break stun on a 40 sec Cd only in avatar form and super low damage: this means that a coordinated group (2 people would be enough) could simply stunlock a druid to death even before he has the chance to start healing which is very bad; just imagine a cleric guardian, triple the healing output he has and take from him all the stability, invulns, blocks and stun brakers he has…he would die in about 3 seconds every team fight.
Hybrids builds on the other hand (something like settler or crusader or even celestial with both survivals and glyphs) would be very strong in my opinion, providing not only great team support via healing but also good sustain and amazing 1v1/2v2 potential.

I see that first point as a potential huge con since if you need a druid for a raid then there’s a balance issue and the rebirth of the holy trinity. Since it doesn’t do anything else, then hopefully you could take a guardian or rev or a different support character instead, but if healing is vital in the raids then druids are going to be an issue.

For PvP I see them being a nuisance, since they can cleanse all conditions when entering druid form and stealth too so there’s a lot of sustain there. If you spec into marksmanship with moment of clarity you can get a 6 second daze on the 3rd avatar skill and the 5th one is good enough on its own to control and damage. It being a totally dedicated healer though, I totally agree it won’t be super useful in PvP.

Druid Healer Confirmed - Feedback [merged]

in Ranger

Posted by: Hooglese.4860

Hooglese.4860

To start off I don’t think druid is bad by any means, but it gives me and a few others I’ve heard from some concern. That concern being that it brings back the Holy Trinity (DPS, tank, healer) which arena net specifically tried to avoid. What that could mean is that every group will be asking for a druid in their party for everything and could be left waiting an eternity for one.

The druid has access to some pretty kitten good heals, mostly via sacrificing your heal glyph in astral form to heal allies allowing you to keep your party alive for a long time. If the healing is too strong, the party is going to be invincible and can take on normally challenging content with ease. If its too weak no ones going to want a druid or to use celestial avatar cause its just wasting time. Not many of the skills do a whole lot other than heal. One does a daze, one does a condi removal and that’s about it for astral form. The staff also provides some heals but nothing too substantial and is on par with a guardian staff.

Comparing it to other healing classes (guardian and Revenant) is when I got the issues. Guardians have a lot of heals they can blow off all the time but the main difference is that they are smaller heals (than druid) and do an additional ability (give boons, remove conditions, block, ect). Druid on the other hand just heals and to a greater extent. What its comparable to is a ventari revenant, which does most of the same things. Revenants heal allies with their tablet which costs a lot of energy and management to do so, but the revenant can still attack and do damage and control while doing so. Again the druid sacrifices that damage for heals, giving it more capability to do so.

Where it may be okay is that most healing done is through the celestial avatar which provides no self defence, stun stoppers and needs to be charged up. I’m not sure how rangers build it up or how fast it gets built up and used but this is crucial to preventing monks returning. It also lacks a lot of revival abilities. Ranger holds some great ones already but are already in game and fine in my opinion (due to their tremendous cooldowns).

I know druids trying to kill the zerker meta but its only an issue due to easy dungeons and bosses not doing heavy conditions. Of course we’ll need to see how this all plays out during bwe3 but I can’t say I’m not worried if this is done wrong.

PS: glyph of unity scares me. A mesmer or a thief could kill his own team in PvP against it and its CD is tiny.

Prismatic Understanding + The Pledge

in Mesmer

Posted by: Hooglese.4860

Hooglese.4860

Everyone already knows you can currently stack perma stealth with the exception of 1-2s while the Prestige is on cooldown. You do damage in this build with clones attacking for you. This means your build is literally being in stealth and running around while the enemy takes minimal damage and can’t do anything cause you’re not going to ever leave stealth. This is… bad. It’s bad design. They’re boring to fight, they’re boring to play as, and as always, some people get it in their head that, because they play the easiest build imaginable, they’re pro.

My problem isn’t with PU itself because it allows for a diverse play style but when you mix it with the pledge, a problem occurs. Right now, when you mix the two, prestige is at a 50% reduced cooldown with out using any other stealth skills, which is insane. I like the innovative idea of it being more than 20% reduced baseline, but 50% is just too high, especially when they can do damage while stealth.

I’m not threatened by them too much either because they never leave stealth so in pvp i can just cap points and cleanse my conditions while they roll around in stealth, but it’s just so tedious work with or against them. They’re not really going to do a hell of a lot of damage in team fights, so their strength is mostly in 1v1s and they can’t hold a point super well cause of stealth, but it’s just really fricken annoying.

I’d say to fix this, The Pledge needs work. I like the concept but when it’s mixed with PU and a condi build you never don’t have access to stealth. Either change it to a boring 20%, halve the cd factor or reduce it to 3/4s, or come up with another way. Right now, I think I timed it to 50s of straight stealth and 15s till I could go for another 50. I know everyone’s saying this, but most say it’s PU, I say it’s the pledge. PU dps shatter is fine(since you have to leave stealth to do damage and you can’t stay in stealth indefinitely), but PU+Pledge condi is just a hassle.

Well, I refuse to play Rev now...

The nerf to Mallyx is absurd.. We were far to susceptible to conditions as it was, Now we are virtually defenseless against them. You would think with such a ridiculous nerf and many talents / traits getting reworked, That we would have gotten some sort of cleanse to make up for it, But sadly that’s not the case.

Rev is far to squishy to try and “Wait” out conditions.

I am going to roll a burn guardian named “I destroy Revs”. I’m going to join PVP / WVW games and single handedly troll whatever rev I see all game. I’m gonna port in, Stack my 10-15 stacks of burning then run off doing /laugh over and over while they chase me until they fall because they cant cleanse my OP burns. Then Im going to finish them with my unicorn finisher and tea bag their faces until they respawn. Then repeat…

It’s not so much the problem with dealing with surviving against condis, it’s that we can’t use condis now. It got a nerf in damage by a lot.

Elite Specialization pvp Titles

I was wondering if there was going to be a “Champion…” title for each of the elite specs? I would really like these. To make them different from the current ones I’d recommend making the base class titles required to unlock the elite spec one. For instance to unlock “Champion Time Lord” (yes I want that) you’d need “Champion Illusionist” or “Champion Ninja” needs “Champion Shadow.”

Hooglese.4860

Okay.

Then use it in those specific niche situations, and then don’t use it when you don’t need it.

Wow, that was simple.

Except, it really isn’t. You may have one SPvP match with that in there, next one have none. You can’t afford to half-n-half the gear and with Mallyx you’re either full Condi or not and full condi in the scenario where you face no conditions wasn’t enough. Not really feasible to go half in or half out depending on the scenario, either.

I found hybrid (or cele as it’s more commonly known) glint mallyx extremely viable. I wouldn’t use mallyx against a non condi build but the amount of builds that don’t use conditions is almost none. Sure it may not be their main source of damage but everyone’s got something even if it is just a cripple. For instance thieves bring panic strike which immobs and steal poisons and weakens so you send those back and its going to get them. The only class I know that really doesn’t inflict any conditions is a gs/ham warrior but even they do weakness and cripple which is mean for them specifically. The real weakness to it wasn’t no conditions but boon rip cause when they resistance goes down you do too.

I was giddy to look at the posted changes. Would this be the trait tweaks I begged for already? I scrolled past everything ignoring the text till I saw “Traits.” YES. Roy never disappoints. Almost all my complaints addressed, well at least the major ones. Then I went back up to the top. Removing displacement? Score! Roy I love you that down skill will finally be useful! Alright, sword changes? Cool! I’m okay with that. Roy heard the salt and hopefully it will go away. Then I hit it. I had felt this feeling before. That feeling when Suzy said no to me at the prom and when Melony told me she didn’t see a future with me. You broke my heart, Roy. You ruined my Mallyx. I never had a problem with allies cleansing my conditions it was just some extra love for me. I’d just put them back on me. I, along with a lot of people want it changed back. I will say unyielding anguish needed changed but it kinda blows now since it doesn’t cc.

Now if you excuse me I’m going to go cry into a pillow and eat some ice cream from the tub.

Bring back the old Mallyx

in Revenant

Posted by: Hooglese.4860

Hooglese.4860

He probably doesn’t play revenant and now that Mallyx can’t fight back against conditions is loving the idea of steamrolling us.

I did play revenant, a lot, actually. And conditions are a joke in mallyx as long as you take demonic defiance. The elite consumed too much energy to really be useful anyways, I felt, and unyielding anguish was simply a skill to troll people with but never actually put out enough pressure. Now UA is a great skill, especially against d/d eles. Sure the condi copying nerf did hurt a bit but mallyx is still very strong against conditions because of the crazy amounts of resistance it can apply.

Something tells me you didn’t or at least didn’t use Mallyx cause this legend was amazing. You could chain pain absorption and embrace the darkness for an expencive but secure stomp. It could totally counter entangle and a shoutbow or even a d/d ele with all the conditions and boon ripping which was so satisfying.

Hooglese.4860

Fun, but not perfect.

Archers
These things are pretty much food to guards. Its almost a guaranteed dumb idea to build them as it is.

Channeling
In this mode you need CC to get someone off a channel, making wars and guardians ridiculously strong at channel capture. For resources I don’t mind it cause they’re vital but not game changing. For heroes it’s a bit of an issue. I wouldn’t be mad if that one was interruptable.

Summon Area
The guards here are just trash. A few games I could just rush their base and kill the guards and anything that spawned. I’d like snipers here that 1 shot anything that gets too close for too long.

Teaching People
Right now most people, including me, don’t know what their doing. A tutorial version of this would be sweet, then again leagues may change this. It could just be a BWE thing.

Hooglese.4860

Revenant is ridiculously fun. Let’s get analysing everything

Overall: weak to cc outside retribution, weak to condis outside corruption, but can get some good survive if you do it right.

Weapons:
They’re all good, well shield needs love. The changes that were made were beautiful. Precision strike is buggy as in it can hit twice some times, it constantly says out of range in melee, besides that no issues.
What shield needs Envoy of Exuberance moves too slowly. I could barely heal allies with it if they weren’t beside me. Crystal Hibernation: same issue as defiance bars, soft cc should not effect it. I didn’t mind getting it broken by a hammer warrior cause that made sense but to 2 chill shot I got peeved. It made it really weak.

Legends
Mostly all good. Two complaints.
1. Jalis the hammer change is pretty good. The heal is still lacking and I feel less tanky then in shiro. The energy costs also feel really high, maybe I’m just not used to it. I’d suggest looking at energy costs and decreasing the heals cast time.
2. Glint Hello free 25 might stacks. This ones a tiny bit too strong. You can gain up to 12 might stacks out of combat and 25 in it. The heal is lovely btw. Okay now let’s talk about what’s weak. Facet of darkness activation is inconsistent. Id run into an sr and pop it but it would be a 50% chance it would work. Facet of chaos, is not great. It looks great but it is not effective. 5 up keep for protection? Ignoring the fact this hurts your healing ability, its not worth the energy. I have an either or suggestion. 1) lower it to 3. Now it can work with facet of nature. Cause rn if I want protection I just pop One with Nature. 2) Give it 1-2s stability. Not a full 3 so its not up all the time. Just something to midigate cc. The activation of chaos is also pretty weak since if you get blinded or they block or dodge its not going to work and theyre going to cause its very obvious. A reduced cast time to 1s would fix it.

Traits
I already posted some advised changes here

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/revenant/Some-Trait-Issues-I-ve-Found/first#post5453174

I still stand by these. For instance Pulsating Pestulance is quite weak. I’d make it activate on 3 conditions instead of 15% chance on hit.

Herald traits I didn’t cover. Radiant revival is inconsistent, id give it 10% increased revive. Superspeed on stun break kinda blows. I’d also give it vigor and change superspeed to swiftness. Stun break for allies is good but rev has few stun breakers so its meh. I’d give this stab too. The trait that gives 2 stacks of stab when you get stab is cool BUT you can’t get stab in herald so why is this here? If the other changes I suggested are made I’d be okay but right now its pointless.

facet of nature
This doesn’t really work without glint due to the energy cost and lack of boons outside glint.

Ventari
The issue is with cost/reward for this. It costs so much time and energy to move the tablet and to detonate it, its so hard to bring in and out. The other issue is with the other 3 skills being so expencive and have next to no scaling so there’s little pay off. This could be a great legend but still isn’t. Not to mention I still want a way to see its radius to see whos in it

I miss my rev already.

Edit: forgot to add my gripe with facet of nature and ventari.

This has been a long time coming and I bet I’m not the only person to say this, and have said it multiple times, but this amulet is garbage. It’s 1200 precision, 900 power and 900 condition damage. Its like a cele amulet but with no survive stats. Right now there is no reason to have this amulet. I might try to take it if it was like maurader but with a condi damage stat instead of ferocity. Even then I probably wouldn’t take it but at least it wouldn’t be so weak.

Some Trait Issues I've Found

in Revenant

Posted by: Hooglese.4860

Hooglese.4860

I recall someone recommended in another post that the daze occur at the start of the elite cast rather than the finish. Yes, this means you would have an instant-cast AoE daze (10 sec ICD, but maybe it could be increased a bit for balance), that would combo into making Jade Winds, for example, even harder to escape from. It would also give you a great boost in mitigating damage while CC’ed. But it would come at a pretty big cost in an aggressive build because you would need to take the Salvation traitline, which is otherwise completely terrible for aggressive builds. So, I argue that it would not necessarily be OP. What does everyone think?

Im totally okay with that. Just right now its just good for Jalis and Mallyx otherwise it’s not useful

Some Trait Issues I've Found

in Revenant

Hooglese.4860

Redeeming protection is useless since eye for an eye and improvised aggression synergize well.

uhm, no, I don’t think that’s correct. Sure Eye for an Eye has good synergy with Improved Aggression but just because there’s synergy, doesn’t make it any good, and here’s why:

a) Eye for an Eye is on a 45 second CD and only lasts ~4 seconds when traited (only on monsters)
b) You only get 20% damage reduction

whereas Redeeming Protection has a 33% damage reduction on a 5 second CD and lasts 3 seconds (on all opponents). I found Redeeming Protection to be more useful because it has a higher protection up-time and a bigger damage reduction, and I don’t think taunt is a such a big control effect that merits it being on a 45 second cooldown, especially since rangers can taunt up to every 15 seconds.

Now unless your goal is to redirect the aggro of a hammer warrior (or any other CC-heavy profession) and a big boss towards yourself, then I see it being on par with Redeeming Protection, but in every other situation, I think Redeeming Protection is a bit OP purely because of its up-time and that Eye for an Eye can use a shorter CD.

I’m not sure if the 20% stacks with protection but if it does that’s a potential 53% less damage which is way stronger. The ranger trait should be nerfed in my opinion but besides the point one of those two should be balanced then. I also don’t play pve but doesn’t taunt still apply against bosses even though the cc is removed? Regardless, I think we can both agree we don’t need both, because ones clearly going to end up being better and since you can’t do both, one of the two is going to be worse fast.

Also I know he protection ones stronger but it is op and will be nerfed. The taunt one is just more interesting and fun to use.

Some Trait Issues I've Found

in Revenant

Posted by: Hooglese.4860

Hooglese.4860

I’ve been theory crafting like crazy recently, trying to come up with as many rev builds as I can for the weekend and noticed some traits that are either useless or poorly placed or just inferior/awkward.

Corruption
Venom Enhancement: increase poison duration by 50%.
This is a strong trait except for the fact that only one Revenant skill poisons (for 6s and the only other ways is Embrace the Darkness by chance or Sigil of Doom). So its extremely situational and is obviously for a condi build but there’s Demonic Defiance sinceif your going condi you’re bringing Mallyx and Demonic Defiance turns Mallyx into a condi immune monster so why would you ever take Venom Enhancement?
Proposed change: chance on crit to deal poison (with internal cooldown). It fits the theme of crits and conditions that the specialisation has.

Pulsating Pestulance: 15% chance to copy conditions that last 3s with a 15s CD. I just don’t like the low chance on hit and the CD. The CD needs to stay though since it would be permanent embrace the darkness but the 15% hit chance is too inconsistent to be taken over the burn trait. 50% would be preferable.

Devastation
Jade Echo
: deal 25% more DMG when downed, cast Jade Wind when downed (90s CD). I just don’t like this trait. Its fairly useless and if your going a power build with staff/hammer jalis/glint it is the only option if your speccing into devastation. I have no proposed change. Note: idk why you’d do that and spec devastation but its possible.

Herald
No specific trait issues. There’s a lack of condition defence abilities, but everyone knows that/it’s been said a lot. I’d prefer swift gale to remove a condition instead of superspeed but that’s not going to happen.

Invocation
Empty Vessel
: this trait is essentially required and I can’t see making a build without it making the invocation line essentially meta. Every profession had this though so there’s no point changing it.

Retribution
Redeeming Protection
: gain protection when disabled for 3s (5s CD).
Eye for an Eye: taunt foe when disabled (45s CD)
Improvised aggression: taunted foes deal 20% less damage to you.
Both redeeming protection and eye for an eye are majors so you can’t take both and they both are when disabled traits. Redeeming protection is useless since eye for an eye and improvised aggression synergize well. Its more reliable but really boring.
Proposed change: Improvised aggression now grants protection when hit by a taunted foe for 3s (5s CD). Make Redeeming protection GM, move Steadfast rejuvination to major, and change it to- taunt foes when you use a heal skill (60s CD). Now there’s no longer an awkward trait, there’s a defensive trait option, a taunt option and a retaliation option.

Salvation
Eluding Nullification: remove a condition from you and allies when dodging (10s CD). The only issue is the cooldown. I get revs are supposed to be weak to conditions but this trait is just weak.
Proposed change: Cast purifying essence when dodging (15s-30s CD) OR lower the cooldown to 5s. The first option may be too strong or too inconvenient but would be more thematic. I’d prefer the 5s cooldown.

Momentary Pacification: daze when you use an elite skill (10s CD). Good trait, not in the right place. Why? 3/5 stances do cc already, including ventari. It feels like it should be in retribution or corruption since it doesn’t work with Ventari and doesn’t fit the theme.
Proposed change: new trait Greater Knowledge (or something) heal near by allies when you use an elite skill. Now it synergizes with Ventari and matches the salvation theme.
Other replacement: daze when you use a heal skill (increase the CD to 30s). This one makes it more practical and fits the pacification theme but might be too strong.

6/10, got some good DPS. Its no ranger but its got different abilities and condi capability
4/10, just the symbol and built in virtue but specced right can land 3-4 stacks
6/10, people underestimate vigor. Dodging is meta at this point.
4/10 defence cause you can kite and have anti range abilities
9/10 for control. Built in knock back with trait and the 5 skill can knock a guy around better than a hammer can. Combine that with the range and it might be one of the best control weapons. Warrior hammer is probably better since 8-10s cool down on a stun.

You might want to read the current guardian meta, designed to team support / hold.

I’m aware of what’s in right now; It’s my opinion that Glint doesn’t give enough to fill that specific role. I’m replying to your example of bunkering, not the potential of the Herald in other areas.

To put it simply: It’s missing condition cleansing and stability.

I can see many dying many times in Crystal Hibernation to a couple burn stacks and poison or to a thief ambushing you with basilisk venom and sleight of hand. Those are just 1v1 scenarios too, in a team fight a herald looks like it would be food for a coordinated team.

I played a lot of the beta this weekend, a bad amount, and almost exclusively in pvp. I’m going through everything in categories.

Tempest: didn’t play. I don’t play ele, but from what I’ve heard and seen its pretty sweet and will definetly be seen in competitive play. I can’t give very in depth feed back though.

Dragonhunter:
Core change: this is my biggest problem. Each has a cast time and I like it but it really doesn’t work well in tandem with previous virtue traits which are entirely meta. For instance if you’re being feared you use resolve to break out but now you gotta use a utility skill. This also seeps into stun break for courage.
Long bow: I love this. I love snaring from a 1200 range and the skill are great. It has good DPS too and great support and great originality. I’d use this on all my builds if not for the mentioned core change.
Traps: a little underwhelming. I like them a lot but the damage and cooldowns and cast time are all too weak. The damage might be a bug cause it said 1900 but I couldn’t crack 2k on a zerker build. I also couldn’t figure out a build to use them
Traits: they weren’t too notable. I like em and have no issue with them. Can keep as is. Oh wait. There is one bad trait. Traps give one stack of bleeding. No real reason I’d take it. I’d also not take anything besides soaring devastation.

Reaper:
Core change: I love this form. It hits hard moves like a monster. Only issue is the trait Path of Corruption activates on the last hit which is hard to land. I’d put it on the first hit.
Great sword: also fun. The 3 skill was… Pretty much just used to get life force. It applies vulnerability but I could land 25 stacks with no issue. The damage on it was low so I never used it. I’d like it to snare some how. Cripple probably.
Shouts: a little underwhelming. I liked them but the cast time shouldn’t have been a thing for You’re all Weaklings and the cast time for Chilled to the Bone meant landing it was impossible via either being blind or dodged.
Traits: these are my favourite ones. All traits are viable. Well except grant might and life force when you strike a foe is better than all of the ones in that section. The chill damage also felt low and that increasing attack speed in shroud in tandem with dhuumfire was stronger.

Chronomancer:
Core change: Contiuum split it’s amazing. Its hard to use well but when you do it right you can turn the tide of a battle, but I didn’t use it a lot for a reason I’ll say later. Aclarity is… Strong. I had permanent aclarity in combat meaning nothing was ever on cooldown.
Shield: YES. Finally I don’t have to bring torch. Its got nice defence and its fun to use. The phantasm was quite strong though.
Wells: theyre alright. Really good in pve but not overly viable in PvP because its really really hard to land that last hit.
Traits: this is why I never used contiuum split often. The trait that respawns clones after shatters in tandem with gaining aclarity meant never not having a full mind shatter ready. I also don’t think the daze on chronophantasma works. They activated instantly. Maybe give a cooldown on the clone respawn and lower aclarity duration on the shatter.

Now for the legends in order of least to most issues.

Mallyx:
Best so far. Very fun and very useful. The heal is the strongest heal. Pain Inverter needs a buff hard. I want to use it more but 35 energy cost and its hurting you. Make it a stun breaker and lower the energy cost. Unyielding Anguish is too strong due to it going through stability. I could turn a rampage warrior into mush by spamming it.
Shiro:
The heal is slow. Remove the interval and its fine since you’re not going to land 6 hits quick with out the sword 3 skill. Long cool down too considering its a weaker heal. Reposting shadows is one of the only revenant stun breaks and it has a 35 energy cool down. I could never use this when I needed to. It was decent skill for its effects but it needs to be a stun break first. I understand you should not be able to spam that but it doesn’t work right now. Add a cool down and lower the cost significantly. Unyielding assault is also not very good. Its a 20 cost and an initiator so you’ll be fighting at 30 to start when you could just use the axe 4 to do the exact same thing. Its a forced initiator too because of the cast time. So either make it instant or reduce energy cost. Impossible odds is a game changer skill and I love it. Don’t change a thing. Jade winds stun is a little strong. 3s aoe stun with a 1s cast and decent damage.
Jalis:
Good heal. No issues there. Yellow Brick Road is awfully strong and crucial. Its a low cost Hallowed ground and combined with the stun break issue its pretty crucial right now. Forced engagement is good control and really strong but the cost is too high for what it should do which is taunt. The slow is redundant. Now for what makes me not like dwarf. It’s supposed to be defensive but its not. It’s a damage legend. The hammer aura is entirely used to hurt. I like them and I like the hurt but defence is what the revenant is really missing and I’d be okay if the damage is nerfed but it grants protection. The elite is also a problem. Its really good and I like it but why does it have to be a stun breaker? It costs so much it’s almost worthless as that. I’d prefer the heal be a stun breaker but the elite not be. Lower cast time to accommodate it being nerfed? Basically in summary: more defence less offence.
Ventari:
Saddle up for this listing of issues. I like the concept but its not good. I really wanted this to work but it doesn’t.
The heal: doesn’t exist. It summons the tablet and heals for 1k with a clerics amulet. It needs to exist because it makes you a glass cleric which just doesn’t work because the support isn’t good enough.
The barrier. Cool, nice not cheap energy which is fine but the radius is too small and you just can’t see it.
The pulse heal: good. Costs a lot but its the only way to heal your self and again the radius is small. It doesn’t heal well either
The pulse condi remove. It doesn’t need to be separate from the heal. This could be used as a stun break or a control skill or a buff ability.
The elite: this skill is kinda not great. The concept is perfect but the energy cost for what it does is too high. It could be made to hurt others or heal teammates or both.
It doesn’t heal the revenant enough right now. Also there doesn’t need to be a stun break for this one which is interesting.

I also found the traits odd. You need invocation for the only real stun break you have. You’ll probably need retribution for stability on dodge. Now you’re left with one specialization. Not a lot of freedom there and all cause of not being able to stun break.

Tldr: revenant is like a necro with no shroud. No defence

I played mostly this. I loved it but if this class doesn’t get a rework it’s not being used in PvP. Right now its just too squishy. Here’s my review:

Energy:
I like it. I like it a lot. It builds fast but not too fast so I can always manage it in combat. I have an issue though. It starts at 50 which never felt that weird except when I got 100 when I was stuck in combat I noticed that I never ever had a need for this. I don’t think in combat I had more than 75 and that was rare to have it go above 60. It was a weird nag I had that built on me. Maybe test starting with 100 or keep it as is.

Weapons:
Mace:
Good. Very good. Strong but not too strong. Has a skill cap too which adds fun.
Axe:
Good. The 4 skill hurts and I like the 5. The issue I had was it was really hard to aim the rift. I’d like a red indicator box or ring.
Staff:
Strong. The 4 skill was a key skill for survival and the 5 skill hit hard. The CD balanced it though.
Hammer:
Needs work. It had some good damage but I didnt find it fun. There are 3 skills that essentially do the same thing. 2,3 and 5 which were hammer bash. Each a little different but 2 and 5 were all you’d use. 3 was pretty much a blast finisher. Recommendation: change what it does. Right now it hurts and chills which is a waste of energy given the 5 skill knocks down for a similar amount of time. Give it a condition like torment or confusion or use it as a support/defence ability.
Sword main hand:
Needs work: auto attack is great. Leave that as is. 2 is useless. Its a low damage 1s chill. I’d change it the same way as hammer 3. The 3 is so cool but sooooo weak. There are 2 reasons why. For one it has low damage. For two your very vunerable when you do it. For instance you use it on a warrior they activate hundred blades aaaand you’re dead. If you land all the hits too you’ll cap out at 6k if you use all DPS equipment. Its pretty bad. Cool but bad numbers.
Off hand:
The blocks good. Generic but good. The CD and cost is high and considering that rev has few defence abilities you’re going to want to use this a lot. The fifth skill is weak too. Its great cc but its hard to land and punishing if you miss it.

Which class will be "The Next Paragon"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hooglese.4860

Hooglese.4860

Recap: In GW1 there was a profession “Paragon” which started out being a fairly balanced -under powered support/ranged profession, but was further nerfed until having one served absolutely no purpose.

Optimistically, this wont happen, however with the latest patch I started to wonder and fear anet will take one profession and make sure no player uses them.

My current bet is on Ranger:
I don’t normally use ranger, in fact it’s one of my least used classes because I always felt that it was CD or go home. That was until I discovered that if I sunk some points into my pet, I could get a good “bite” out of the enemy, at the cost of taking out some of my already non-existing damage.
That used to be the case. The new patch really really really…. really ruined my pet build. With pets having from 10-50% damage reduction, I don’t see a way for pets to be viable. What I thought then was that the character would be able to do more damage with out the pet, but I was wrong. Condition Damage became more viable though…. because it wasn’t already?

Another good contender is the Elementalist:
Some people liked the change, some people hated it, and I lean towards the hate. Yes they had more stun breakers than anyone else, except maybe the Guardian, but they also have the least armor and health. I always viewed the ele as a class that was amazing if you could pull it off, but slip up for a second and get pulvarized into oblivion kind of class. The ele did need some nerfing, but if they get nerfed again they get passed on the torch of carrying the paragon’s legacy.

TL,DR version: Which class, if any, is going to become useless first?

Dungeon exploits aren't worth it

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Hooglese.4860

Hooglese.4860

I know a lot of people use exploits in dungeons to make them ‘easier’ and quicker, but this is almost never true. Most of the time, the party wipes more frequently because if any one screws it up it fails. My best examples for this are the side stepping the mobs to lupi on all paths, and AC p3.

What most people do in Arah, is hug that left wall as to not aggro any enemies, but even with the most seasoned Arah veterans some one aggros a single enemy. Now one enemy shouldn’t wipe the party right? Well it does, because to kill it, it aggros more and more and at best one enemy dies. I found that clearing the area of enemies takes about 3 min, I know that cause Lich Form was on recharge. You may be thinking “but if it’s done perfectly it only takes 1min to make it” yeah, maybe but wiping on lupi means you have to do it again, where as murdering them all means it takes the 10s to walk to lupi.

Remember Collosus Rumblus before the patch? Yeah he wasn’t too bad was he? Have you tried killing him after the patch with out climbing on that wall thing? He’s still easy, just different. What you may do, or know some one that does, is they stack on the wall and beat him down from a distance. That makes him easier, yes, but for the glitch to work you have to not aggro him, all hide in the corner at the same location and have one person bring him over, have that person climb back on the wall with out dying, other wise you have to start all over again. I can do it properly in 2min. He’s got no hp. It seems like he does when you can only attack from a range, but he doesn’t. I’ve had parties quit at this part because they can’t glitch it right, and refuse to do it normally. Mull that one over.

Hooglese.4860

Well, if 5 pure CD builds went in they would just do too much damage, and could possibly reach 80k dmg per sec-oh wait, that’s exactly what berserker builds currently do.

I know CD is good because it doesn’t need precision to do the really hard hits thus letting the player not be a glass cannon, but I’m fairly certain it caps out under the crit damage for each individual player anyways.

Why necromancers don't quite cut it (by Zzod)

in Necromancer

Posted by: Hooglese.4860

Hooglese.4860

Something that really needs to be addressed that wasn’t in this, and may have already been in previous replies is that THERE IS NO PROJECTILE REFLECT/BLOCK. Every other profession has at least one, even Warriors can trait into having it.

I am also very glad Zzod brought up the axe. My necro is an axe necro, and I can hit arond 10k if I go zerker and that’s only if I get a glass cannon to 25 vun and get 20 might from BiP and the might on life force trait. If you have the same conditions on any other profession you’ll hit for twice that.
The axe warrior auto-attack, powerful as it is, can still hit for more damage than if you could use the necro’s 2 as an auto-attack. I know it’s melee and takes 2s to do the entire thing, but it’s not a burst skill.

Maximum damage output

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hooglese.4860

Hooglese.4860

With all of these zerker warrior farms out there, I got curious, what profession can do the most damage. Now obviously Hundred Blades has the highest raw damage out of every skill, however that’s not accounting for the cast time and recharge time AND the skills you use in between.

For the most part I assumed there would be an auto attack unless there was another skill that did more damage than the auto attack does in the time it takes to cast the auto attack. I also didn’t account for buffs and debuffs that a skill could do, but I did try to account for traits. Obviously some professions are harder to calculate this number (ele, engie and thief), but this is what I came up with:

If a thief can always land backstab from behind when they stealth and can do this every 3 seconds(min time), they can do the most damage per second at 499.155.
However, this is nearly impossible to do, and to be totally honest that number isn’t accurate do to the initiative skills and the min time you can go in and out of stealth.

Otherwise, the max damage/s is:
291.09868667917448405253283302064 from the Guardian’s greatsword.

The main method I used was:
sum of damage/sum of time cost.

I also used sum of ratio of each high damaging skill, and guardian still won at 1027.8281538461538461538461538462 .

I didn’t calculate every profession’s skills and what not, I kind of just went for what was currently considered the highest damage capabilities.

Since I’m not a master mathmatician I’m not very good at figuring out a good formula for figuring this out, and I can bet that there’s a few that play this game, and I want to figure this out. Also, I got the numbers for the dmgs from wiki.guildwars2.com

I’m trying to find a way to use the greatsword on my ranger and I found all the skills to be totally awesome and fun, except for one. Maul. It doesn’t do enough base damage to be of use in a power damage build, and it doesn’t do enough bleeding to be a useful condition damage skill. My suggestion is to either increase one of the two OR add a buff like retaliation. Also if you have suggestions as to what to do with it or how to use it, that would be awesome to hear

They spawn more dredge, but they can’t just be normal summoned dredge, THEY HAVE TO BE ELITE. The only way I’ve done it is to pull the moles out one at a time or else you have a thousand of those hairless rats swarming you, and pulling takes time, like 10 min per mob. I dont think it’s a matter of the capability of knight being bad or new to spvp, but a balance issue. No skill should be able to do 17k damage(Cloak and Dagger results in back stab, so I consider it 1 skill) to any class, as any class. The highest damage I’ve ever seen was from a great sword warrior’s 100 blades during the beta, and it only did 9.5k and that got nerfed(slightly).
