Precursor crafting — don’t be in a rush to do it, unless you care more about the journey and less about the costs.
TL;dR: Monetary cost and opportunity cost of legendary crafting feature far exceeds the cost of just buying the precursor off the TP.
Depends on (a) the precursor, (b) when you acquired the mats, (c.) when you want to make the legendary, and (d) if you care about maximizing monetary efficiency or maximizing ‘fun’ (and therefore, what constitutes ‘fun’ for you).
It should be no surprise that the prices for monetized items that go into precursor collections have spiked relative to pre-HoT days. It should also come as no surprise that precursor prices have tanked since launch. (We saw early signs of both every time ANet posted an official announcement about precursor ‘crafting’ details.)
Accordingly, if you compare “today’s” collection costs versus precursor costs, you’re going to find it’s very competitive, especially if you take “opportunity costs” into account. If you instead compare the same inputs using say last year’s prices, you’ll find that collecting is cheaper.
The markets are going to take another month or three to come to a new equilibrium, when people stop panicking about being ‘first’ or getting scribe to 400 or all the other collections that also use the same mats. When more and more people are starting to do their daily ascended refinement. When demand finally starts to return to something closer to pre-HoT and supply probably ends up above its old status quo.
I predict that — at that point — collections will be cheaper, perhaps substantially so.
More importantly, the point is:
Precursor crafting — don’t be in a rush to do it, unless you care more about the journey and less about the costs.
Could we do something for goldseller whisper spams? I am just bein afk in HoTM like 2-3 min and when i return i am keep find my chat is spammed by goldsellers with whisper. Can u add some option about who can whipser me? like my friends, my guildmates.. etc . ? dont wann turn off my visibilty beacuse i cant read my guild chat when i turned off. And i dont wanna do it because of goldseller spams. Btw they are really anooyin my block list full of them. i hope there is no limit to block ppl. Thats not like to end goldsellers.
Everyone goes through long periods of no spam and short bursts of tons. I haven’t received more than two since HoT launched and the last ‘burst’ I had (a few months ago) amounted to three sellers in 24 hours.
/block, /report, and move on.
I am really disappointed. Like every year since the release of GW1 we’ve had a black friday sale or cyber Monday one with discounts in the gem store…
Is there a reason we didn’t have one this year?
In 2015, we had:
- Free gifts of various items over several days, basically stuff that can drop from achievement chests.
- A couple of items returned to the gem shop.
- A few discounts.
It wasn’t anything as hyped as previous years nor as interesting.
I think the OP needs to realize that this is a service that the employer doesn’t know they need. Rather than asking in the forums, I suggest that the OP
- Find a guild of middle size that is obviously attempting to recruit.
- Offer their services to them on a contingency basis, with minor payment to reach recruiting targets and major payment for recruits that become full members and remain for at least a month.
- After successfully doing this a couple of times, the OP will have strong references from actual clients, who will be (or at least should be) happy to recommend the OP to other guilds.
- Is there a demand for guild recruiters?
Of course not, I doubt that more than 5 people reading this know what this would mean.
- Are guilds willing to pay for recruiters finding quality people?
Again, of course not — most guilds think they can get this for free and/or are doing fine on their own. In some cases (some of them even accurately), GLs think that recruiting is a key component to a healthy guild, since it gives the leadership a chance to develop a connection to a recruit before they join.
- [This one is targeted towards guild leaders] Would outsourcing your guild
recruiting allow you to focus more on your guild content — [w]ould it be worth the cost?
Again, of course not — the vast majority of GL/officers can’t imagine how their jobs would be different if they “hired” a quality guild recruiter.
Incidentally, if all the OP is offering is to write recruitment advertisements and publish them in various maps, I doubt if their service will have long-term value. There’s no question that most guilds that spam /map would do better with better adverts. However, the GLs that understand this already know to write more creatively; the ones that spam boring adverts are unlikely to see the issue.
tl;dr there is a needed “matchmaking” service, but it’s not one that anyone is going to be able to offer for coin on any sort of regular basis. Those that need it the most won’t see the value.
They aren’t likely to let us ‘save experience’ for when the next set of masteries comes out — after all, look at how many people maxed the current set within the first month (and now are complaining about not having any more progression to work on). Similarly, they aren’t likely to let non-HoT save up the XP for buying HoT (for the same reason).
What they could do, however, is offer up some sort of currency or item that has only a secondary or tertiary impact on the economy, but would relieve some pressure on players in other ways.
To illustrate the point, consider unrefined ascended mats (bloodstone, dragonite, empyreal):
- Although lots of people have too many of two of these, it’s pretty common for folks to be short on one.
- There are converters for all three types.
- It’s unlikely to encourage people to feel more pressure to finish masteries, because it’s ultimately not all that valuable, about 16-20s/stack on average.
Other possibilities are scribe supplies, karma mats, obsidian, etc.
tl;dr what about rewarding a minor amount of something with a minor impact (so it’s not worth farming xp)?
I wanted to let you know I got the achievement, but I’m embarrassed to say how. There are 5 Ruins of Orr Diving Master Achievements, not four. I simply overlooked one – twice. I wanted to thank you anyhow. It encouraged me to keep trying!
Awesome; glad to hear it! (PS: you’re not alone. I mentioned that it was common, especially before HoT for people to have to re-try the full list of dives. What I didn’t mention is how many that mentioned that, in the end, it turned out to be ‘user error’ on their part.)
Thanks for letting us know you finished. And congratulations!
It’s a design issue, not a memory allocation issue: back when the game was still a twinkle in Colin’s eye, they decided to trade off customization in weapons for the simplicity in programming and animating more complex weapons. As I understood, when reading their explanation: they’d have to redesign bits of the game engine to change this now.
So even if they decided it would be better for the game, it would require a substantial effort that probably would be better suited to creating more non-dyeable weapons more quickly.
(I haven’t seen any explanation as to why backpacks can’t be dyed; it might be something similar.)
tl;dr dyeable weapons probably has to wait for GW3.
wow its been like a month and still no words from Anet regarding this bug, seriously bad costumer service.
There have been words from ANet: it’s a known bug and they are working on it. Presumably (but not definitively), it will be fixed when the fractal adjustment patch goes live this month.
I can’t disagree with the central point: tiny RNG is fine (in my opinion) for special rewards; it’s not ok to tie collections to it.
And worse, they already have a solution for this with BL skins: scraps — scraps are reasonably common while full tickets are not. So if you open a pile of BL chests, you are always making progress towards a ticket.
I wish they would do the same thing for
- Carapace coat boxes (one of the few that can’t be bought — in effect, bandit crests count as scraps for the other pieces)
- Amber-covered Insects (you have to depend on RNG)
- Similar items for the new maps.
At least, in the case of the new legendary/precursor collections, any RNG seems to be high enough that most everything drops with decent frequency.
(However, I agree that it’s s a bit weird to hype the challenge of raids and the exclusivity of rewards …and then offer a raid memorial via the gem shop. Still, that’s not anything that they haven’t done before.)
I question your logic. If you kissed your sister in the past, so might as well continue?
I am saying it’s consistent behavior on the part of ANet. They have always offered things in the gem shop that “celebrated” new content and not maintained a strict separation across content. For example, even if you don’t own HoT, you can buy HoT-themed skins from the gem shop (or on the TP).
I would prefer if they had more rewards exclusive to skill, to time & place, or to specific content. I can’t fault them though for wanting the gem shop to have attractive items from all aspects of the game.
Or to follow the analogy above: if you come from a country where it’s normal for second cousins to date, of course you would continue it even if your judgmental friend from New York said it was a sin.
tl;dr there’s nothing wrong with ANet offering up such items in the gem shop, even if personally I find it weird.
i guess someone in support fixed it , now working thanks !47
Glad to hear it — thanks for letting us know it was resolved. (And, nice work, Dara, as always.)
Guild Missions Preference Permission Option
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781
Are you asking for ANet to offer a setting that restricts who gets to change the mix of potential mission modes, e.g. PvE only or WvW only? yeah that does seem like something only certain people should be allowed to do.
Maybe they can combine it with one of the existing permissions, such as “Claim Guild Hall” (since both are choices made infrequently and probably by the top ranks only).
@Serious Thought: your advice is sound — it’s a good way to gain wealth quickly, with doing typical in-game tasks and only a tiny bit of research (the writing down bit). There are, of course, other methods — I think that’s besides the point.
I also like that your offering advice from one none-power-trader to other none-experts, so (in my opinion) it’s more accessible.
tl;dr Keep on keeping on — I think it’s useful advice for people who might not always relate to the other wealth tips published here.
I craft a nomad for armor draconic guardian but I used the character warrior who armorsmith at maximum, after that I put it in the bank and tried to take it up with the guardian but nothing tells me soulbound
It seems very strange, I could understand accountbound, is an error in the game?
Did you apply a rune to it? That will soulbind exotic armor. If not, did you accidentally equip it on your warrior?
If you did neither of those things, then it sounds like a bug — exotic armor should be unbound, except for a few account-bound prefixes (celestial, nomad, …).
It’s solved now, i’m transferred to the new server.
Glad to hear it. Thanks for posting the resolution.
Okay so i have 50/50 members in my guild now and i went to the guild registrar in lions arch and borderlands to see if i could upgrade it. All goes well until i get to the last part where i have to pay the lady says i do not have enough members…But my guild is full. Is there something i am missing ?°
What happens when you try to invite one more person? It’s possible that the game thinks you have more room.
If you get the usual error (“the guild or party is full” or some such), then I’d open a support ticket.
I have been hearing in-game that if you’re in a squad while doing a world boss event, your drops get screwed up.
I just would like to get a confirmation on whether if this is true or not.
Many thanks!
I think first you should get confirmation that there is any evidence that there’s even a potential issue. If your only source is map chat, I’d assume it’s just a rumor spread without validation.
There are three types of loot that people might be talking about:
- The bonus chest, which you get for completing the relevant event(s).
- The ground chest, which you get for killing the boss.
- Regular loot that the boss drops. (Not all world bosses do.)
To get credit for the first two, you need to do “enough damage” to event-related foes so that you get event credit. To get the last one (if applicable), you have to do “enough damage” to the boss, early enough in the fight.
Being in a party influences all of the above and that’s easily proven at the Karka Queen: if one member hits the KQ first, every party member will get the regular loot, as long as you do “some” damage during the event. If you aren’t in a party and you hit late, you’ll get the first two (bouncy/bonus + ground chest), but not the last.
I have yet to do any testing nor have I seen anyone publish results for what happens if you are in a squad instead. It’s possible that being in a squad doesn’t help any of the above or that it might help less. If that is so (and, again, there’s no evidence one way or another — that I know of), then you could end up with the same loot as if you weren’t in a squad. But, that worst case scenario is a lot different from having your loot “screwed up.”
tl;dr there’s no evidence whether being in squad has the same benefit on drops as being in a party (or whether it was designed to), neither is there evidence that it doesn’t. But at worst, you’d still get the same loot as if you were solo.
That’s what I was wondering, so was making a post in hopes that a dev might notice it and either respond, or put it on the fix list.
Have you made a bug-report in-game? While you may not get a direct reply to that, it’s the most sure-fire way to get the bug into their bug-tracking database and thus on the way to getting fixed.
Yes, I well-written in-game /bug report is usually worth a bunch of forum posts. It doesn’t guarantee a fix, it does however ensure that the right person ends up seeing it, so it can get prioritized.
Minipets will still uncheck the hide/unhide button after gliding for extended periods of time.
I like my minipets and having to open the hero panel after gliding gets old really fast in the new maps.
As far as I know, ANet hasn’t set an ETA for when this will be fixed. This isn’t the first time that minis have gone unchecked permanently and I’m sure it won’t be the last.
Thank you for your thorough answer. I’ll keep trying!
Good luck! I hope it doesn’t take long. (And please let us know how it turns out.)
1. The search function at this moment is useless inside some of the forum sections, like Revenant and Engineer in Professions.
I can search with words I can see right in the thread titles, or sure-fire terms like “revenant”, “staff”, “pistol”, “gyro”, and I get No Results.
I can do this with every modern browser, all extensions turned off, with no varying success.
Even the search-function itself is very rudimentary, and doesn’t allow any sort of advanced options.2. No dates in thread listing.
There’s absolutely no way of knowing when a thread was created – or when someone last replied to it – without going one by one into the threads.
It is soon 2016. Forum softwares could do this last millennia. I can see no rational justification why it should be like this.Trying to navigate, search and use the forums to any useful extent is giving me grey hairs.
Use google to search the forums. It’s better than the search function of all but a few forums:
site:forum-en.guildwars2.com inurl:forum attune infused ring
There’s a very rational reason why the forum software hasn’t been updated in over 3 years: it costs money. ANet bought a system that turned out didn’t suit the company’s or community’s needs as well as expected. Because the existing system serves the primary needs, they’ve decided it’s not worth the time, frustration, and cost of buying another system, especially since there’s no guarantee they’d end up with a system that worked well enough to justify the effort.
I don’t like the forum system either, but I have no problem with ANet deciding to spend their money on other projects.
Just use the second best food.
It’s barely a DPS loss and it’s substantially cheaper.
Agreed. With few exceptions, second-best food is substantially cheaper and nearly as effective.
Great, now ANet will set up things so that these mobs stop dropping loot.
I have all 37 of 38 done except the 4th one of the 4 Ruin of Orr ones. I’ve done those four each twice to make sure I didn’t miss one. Is this a known bug or could I be doing something wrong? I sure wanted that mastery point!
Each of the dives is quirky. It’s impossible to be sure that you’re getting credit unless you are watching the counter increment a success or until someone figures out which dive # corresponds to which location.
Quirks include:
- Some dives have a very narrow spot that you have to hit, even if the destination seems to have plenty of room.
- Some dives require that you pass through something on the way down.
- Some require that you dive from the correct starting location.
- Some seem to require that you get returned to your armor; some don’t seem to care.
Since you know it’s one of the spots in Orr, I’d recommend trying the following:
- Visit with someone who hasn’t done one or more of these and let them go first. Make sure they get credit and then do what they do, step where they step, etc.
- Go with a mesmer (or be a mesmer) and use mimic+portal (set portal → dive → mimic → finish portal) so that you can repeat it a couple of times.
- Or just do each one 3-4 times.
In the days before these were numbered, a lot of us had to repeat the entire set (sometimes multiple times) to finally find the one that hadn’t triggered. In all the times I’ve responded to the posts, I’ve yet to find someone that wasn’t able to get credit eventually after repeated attempts.
tl;dr I’m pretty sure none are bugged; I’m pretty sure that most are so quirky it’s hard to tell the difference — so keep trying til it triggers for you.
Sometimes you wont walk on swiftness speed, while having the swiftness boon and
I am not talking about when carrying the orb in one of the pvp maps.As if the swiftness sometimes has delay (couple of sec) before it takes effect on the character.
Does anyone recognize this?
I’ve never seen this except after first loading in an area, and in that case, I always attribute it to residual latency from loading screens.
Now that Anet has increased the lvls to 100 for Fractals…
What has happened to the drop rates, and or the lvls of the drops for the Fractal Tonic…?
15 Dec (if not before): fractals are getting a set of tweaks. Whatever the rates are today, they will be different then.
Just to get an idea on where the community stands for the raid timers.
…
Here’s the poll for anyone interested:
http://strawpoll.me/6195694
As long as you realize that only a tiny fraction of players visit the forums at all and only a tiny fraction of those come to this sub-forum. In other words, a strawpoll linked from this subforum isn’t going to give you any idea on “where the community stands” — it will just barely give you an idea of where people who follow links from this forum stand.
edit: grammar
(edited by Illconceived Was Na.9781)
So I have completed the Warmaster’s Pack to the ascended level, and noticed that when you complete all 3 of them you would complete the Pact Reformer achievement, which awards a Gift of Ascension.
I was looking at the mystic forge today because I was considering just buying a Gift of Ascension to infuse my Warmaster’s Pack and found that the pack is not even eligible to be placed in the mystic forge.
Is this intentional? Is my back piece unable to be infused like the other back pieces at all? I know Mawdrey had a different combination of pieces needed to infuse it, but what about these, back pieces, at least the Warmaster’s Pack can’t even be placed in the mystic forge to attempt it.
Thanks for reading
I suspect it’s a bug. AFAIK, every other type of ascended back can be infused.
The OP made the right choice: Raids weren’t designed for them; they were designed for folks who want more than the challenge that the “jump in anywhere” philosophy allows for. The entire game is made up of content that can be done like that, except for raids.
And I think that’s a good thing for the game and the community. I think there should be a few (and only a few) bits that can only be done with certain skills and that perhaps only a minority will enjoy.
- Raids, require in-combat skill.
- SAB (or something like that) requiring precision jumping.
- tbd (requiring other types of skills)
As long as this type of content is limited to hither and yon, I think it will help give so-called “hardcores” a place to go to, which will mean they are less likely to go as nuts in other parts of the game, where cooperation (and teaching others) is more important than being “gud”. (Although, clearly, the new maps require us to pay more attention to our builds and combat skills than the old ones.)
Best class for solo'ing HoT content
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781
Please note I am NOT asking for “THE BEST CLASS EVAR!” as there isn’t one. I know this is purely opinion and that’s exactly what I am looking for: YOUR opinion. So in before “The best class is the one you like playing”. I am well aware of that.
What I think is the best class for HoT is, in fact, the one that you like playing. I don’t think there’s a good answer that separates the two things. If you don’t like the class, you won’t play it well and you’ll be more likely to die (plus, even if you don’t, it will be more frustrating).
Instead, I’ll rephrase the question as: “what do I like about playing my main in HoT maps and story?”
Chronomancer is a lot of fun to play on its own. The wells are fun and useful and even though I really wanted a new main hand weapon, the shield provides some really excellent utility for all sorts of HoT needs.
For HoT specifically, Chrono (and less so mesmer) provides all the utilities I could want: clones to distract enemies, stealth or blocks to run through raptors etc, and (played well) enough burst to defeat nearly anything solo (except, of course, Hero Challenge Champions — I just find them tedious to solo).
However, I haven’t really had serious problems running other classes; they just haven’t been as much fun.
I doubt that they will make the star of gratitude available again but instead make another one available.
Otherwise, those that got already wont have anything to do.
I they introduce a new fragment eater, player who already got the star, can obtain a 2nd one and new players will also be able to get one.
Or they might do something like Herta (a second bloodstone dust eater): introduce a second quest for an alternative.
I am betting (inventory space) that it will return:
- The coding is already there.
- Appropriate open-world chests have been dropping Grubby packages all year.
Still, ANet is notoriously inconsistent about all sorts of things and Wanze’s track record of predictions is better than most people posting publicly, i.e. I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t return either.
It is not so much due to lag as in the screen is just loading and I just died after loading. Shouldn’t the game protect your character if it is still loading?
There’s a couple of aspects of loading:
- The server is telling the client to load a map.
- The client is loading the map and the game recognizes this (this is when your character’s icon appears for the party).
- The character can actually do something.
Most of the time, you are ‘protected’ at the second step; this is why sometimes you can’t rez someone kitten-loaded into the map (they haven’t finished loading).
I surmise, therefore, that something else is happening in Southsun Survivor that is different from other maps. So it’s not so much “killed in loading screen” as “killed in southsun survivor while loading”.
It is not possible.
The probable reasons:
- Trinkets (aside from backpacks) are relatively cheap compared with armor and weapons.
- There is no L500 Jeweler, so no recipe to build an ascended equivalent of an insignia/inscription.
That said, there’s no fundamental reason why the mystic forge couldn’t do swap changes using some sort of exotic jewel (the exotic equivalent of insignia/inscription). My guess is that ANet didn’t see a compelling need to upend that corner of the economy until they are ready to release Jeweler r500.
I highly doubt that reporting those people for LFG abuse would do anything in this case :|
A single report isn’t going to do anything, of course. It will take several reports about the same individuals before ANet can reasonably take action. And if it’s not a single person doing it, then it’s unlikely that it’s trolling; it’s more likely it’s someone changing their mind or folks taxiing into open world zones.
I do agree with the OP: it’s annoying to lose the LFG because someone joined and then leaves. I’d like to see a grace period:
- If someone joins and leaves within 2 minutes, the LFG returns automatically.
- If someone joins and leaves within 5 minutes, the posting doesn’t count in terms of determining a cooldown for the poster.
- Or, at the very least, increase the cooldown so that it never starts within less than 5 minutes of the initial LFG.

- 1: Booster, insta L20 scroll, Mini Queen Jennah
- 2: Booster, insta L20 scroll (not stack with Y1), spirit shards, birthday blaster
- 3: Booster, insta L30 scroll, teleport to friend x5, celebratory dye pack (choice of dye from the first half dozen or so limited edition dye packs or nearly any regular dye)
edit: forgot to say that I think the year 3 rewards are the best gift from either game by far, even though I happened to have unlocked all the dyes and can’t take advantage of the celebratory pack. Some people were able to save 100s of gold for an item they wanted.
(edited by Illconceived Was Na.9781)
It can’t be learned. Your options are:
- Buy it from the TP at ~2g
- Keep attempting to salvage Cavalier-stat weapons.
0 successes out of 26 attempts sounds odd to me — the odds aren’t 100%, but they aren’t that low either. In your shoes, I’d file a support ticket asking if that’s consistent with expectations.
But I wouldn’t wait to hear back; I’d just buy off the TP. If you do manage to salvage some later, you can sell them to recoup some/all of your costs.
(edited by Illconceived Was Na.9781)
You can set a keyboard shortcut for “next NPC” — it cycles through all the things (including harvesting nodes) within reach of the [f] key. I just repeat that until selecting the NPC (or flax or ori or whatever node) I want.
While finding many of the colors of dye at my disposal, I had decided to try out a pack of this. from what I had discovered with this if from list of 25 options of dye that can be obtained from this, 6 are the new set and the other 19 seem to be a very common selection of dye.
This is either common quality dye or a selection of what is the very common options of rare dye (that are worth at most of 1.5g each from the trading post). This available selection has made this the first item off of the “Black Lion Trading Company” that I feel like I was robbed by.
For $10 or 65-70g for 400 Diamonds, this makes an investment for this dye very expensive. So expensive that at the very least, common dye from this is not what one would expect to receive from this. In addition to this, unidentified dye often hovers around .5g each, allowing one to buy 167 unidentified dye for the price of 5 on the black lion trading post.
Overall this selection of dye needs a very large overhaul to keep up with the standards of the rest of the items available on the BLTC. Without it, the only thing Holiday about this exclusive item is Holiday disappointment, much like receiving a pair of socks in an over sized box for Christmas.
This is how all of the limited edition dye packs work:
- 25 possible drops
- 6 drops exclusive to the kit (although one kit has 12)
- limited data suggests the odds of the exclusives dropping are somewhat less than 6/25, somewhat more than the rare:master:fine ratios of unidentified dyes.
In effect, these are lottery tickets. Limited-edition dye are always cheaper to buy directly from the TP (the exceptions are: the first 8 to 48 hours after the kit is released and some months after the kit is removed from the gem shop).
Whether you use gems to buy the kit (converted from gold or not) or gold to buy off the TP (converted from gems or not), the ultimate cost is less if you pick the dyes you want and buy them from the TP, unless you happen to be one of the lucky ones — and there will be lots of such examples.
tl;dr if you want a specific color, don’t buy from the gem shop; buy from the TP (using a custom offer). Only buy the kits if you enjoy the thrill of rolling the dice to see if your luck is better than average.
Okay.So i left Guild Wars 2 a few months ago,and noticed that now there is 3 Account types: Free, Core, & HoT. Where each account types are given different amount of access to the game.As i brought this game a few months before the expansion,i am a core player, and therefore i don’t have access to the new contents.I am quite clueless about what can i do in the game now.Can anyone suggest some ways which can help me enjoys the game? Thanks in advance.
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/95982157-Account-types-Free-Core-HoT
The highlights:
- Free: 2 characters, 3 bag slots each, restricted zones until L35, mail & TP restrictions, no guild bank access, no login bonus, etc
- “Core:* no restrictions in the original maps, no new maps, no masteries, no revenant, no elite specializations.
- “HoT:* unlocks new maps, masteries, revenant, elites.
I cannot seem to find a vendor to convert 10 ticket scraps to a ticket. Where or how do I do this?
Thanks
Double click your stack of scraps to open the vendor. (You can do the same with the tickets, too.)
Having the same problem as well.
There’s a bug: only some pre-HOT skins in the wardrobe were counted for the collection. ANet is aware of it and has not offered an ETA for the fix.
(I learned this from their reply to the Support Ticket that I filed.)
I am hoping that it will be fixed with the fractal patch later this month (I haven’t seen a dev post confirming this).
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sovereign_Arquebus_Skin
This shows only a single current source. If/when the crown pavilion returns, there might be others.
(The other skins have similar pages.)
I’m not asking for the moon, my main argument is that 500 ap between chests take a long time, and rewards should consistently reflect that. The Heavy achieve chests feel o.k to me , but the rest ehhh. Boosters are lol, gold = 30g very inconsistent, gems also=gold and low for the effort spent . Permanent boosts are good but 1 or 2% every 500ap isn’t exactly a thriller (cumulative over yrs maybe but…)
There’s so much armor you can buy in the game already and if they wanted to stick with that as the main prize for ap progression than it should be absolutely mindblowing. How many Zenith and Hellfire sets do you see in game? Not many. All I’m advocating for is consistency. I want to say to myself every 500 points, " Ya boy I did it and look what I get for the effort". Can you say that as of right now? If so maybe I’m the minority. In which case I’ll accept it. I wonder if I am the minority.
The OP isn’t t wrong to feel that there’s a kind of diminishing returns on the excitement of reaching new achievement ranks. I just don’t see how ANet can keep the rewards “nice” but not “game changing” without high AP achievers starting to get complacent about the rewards.
Put another way, it seems to me as if ANet already delivered the moon and now some of us are asking “why can’t we have the sun?”
The game launched without any reward for achievements. When first introduced, folks were very pleased — every account gets stuff just for playing the game and people who “over play” aren’t given so much more than everyone else that others start to feel pressured to complete achievements.
It’s inevitable that 20,500 won’t feel as special as 500, but the Nth regular chest never feels as special as the first. Heck, when the chests were first added, I thought the ‘free’ skins were awesome and now, my reaction is “ho hum, another skin I probably won’t use” (I’m really looking forward to the second tier of weapon skins, perhaps sometime in 2020).
tl;dr the rewards are plenty good in my opinion; those with high AP are just used to them.
1 gold and 1 laurel or 2 fractal relics per inventory/bank slot.
I think he means salvaging at an affordable cost rather than 1 gold per try.
I don’t mind 1g/try, except that rings never seem to drop anything other than agony resistance, which is currently worth less than 1.5 silver.
Are you sure you’re salvaging rings, not amulets or accessories? I always seem to get at least two stabilizing matrices out of salvaged rings, most of the time three (and on a very rare occasion 20 out of one ring). If you really hurt for gold, sell two matrices per ring salvaged at the trading post to cover your costs.
Yeah, I’m just as confused as this guy. Rings always drop at least two stabilizing matrices which is worth about 1.5g right now. Salvaging rings will result in a profit with the current TP prices…. (And like he said, you have a chance of salvaging way more than 2 matrices from rings resulting in HUGE profits.)
I’ll try again. Maybe I did it when the matrices were lower valued and ignored them. I’d be happy to be wrong about it.
edit: oops. I was indeed wrong. I did all my initial salvaging when the expansion was HoT off the presses…and at that time, the 2/ring stabilizing matrices were worth a lot less than cost of the kit. As a result, I completely ignore the drop rate. Thanks for steering me in the right direction.

Diminishing Returns in Maguuma chests
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Is Diminishing Return effects active on crystallized supply caches, noxious pods, and airship cargo?
There is no evidence of DR being applied to any other containers in the game (on the contrary, the evidence suggest that there isn’t any).
As for whether there might be DR associated with open world chests (keyed or unkeyed): it would be impossible for players to test that. The variability of the drops (not to mention the complexity of drop tables) would require comparing results from 500+ drops if not 1000s, under controlled circumstances. It’s just not possible for us to collect that level of quality data. (If you look at crowd-sourced data on the wiki, you’ll see that it’s hard to get that many people to contribute.)
Containers (such as bags and caches etc) on the other hand — it’s easy enough to collect 1,000 or even 10,000 and keep careful track of the contents. (A lot of those results are available on the wiki, on reddit, and gw2shinies, among other public sources.)
tl;dr there’s no known DR for containers; presumably there’s none for open-world chests (but there’s also no way to test it).
Every black lion weapon set is obtainable through the trading post; there’s no need at all to gamble for them using the BL chest lotto. Further, the expansion added all sorts of skins that can be obtained without the TP.
It’s fine to say one prefers the BL skins over the free ones, but let’s try not to exaggerate the situation.
tl;dr gems aren’t required to purchase BL skins and there are ‘free’ skins added with the expansion.
(However, I agree that it’s s a bit weird to hype the challenge of raids and the exclusivity of rewards …and then offer a raid memorial via the gem shop. Still, that’s not anything that they haven’t done before.)
You can collect as many of the pets as you like and change them whenever you like (outside of combat). I don’t have a use for 80%+ of the pets, but I collected them all anyhow (because: eh, why not?).
If you press [f] a lot (which most of us do for good reasons), there’s a decent chance you picked up other pets.
tl;dr don’t delete the character; you cannot have “too many” pets.
So I’d open a support ticket.
This is always the first step when something is blocking progress on your account. It’s often also worth asking on the forums, but only the Customer Service team can fix stuff affecting specific accounts. (The exceptions are when it’s a bug affecting everyone and the engineers are writing a specific script to fix multiple accounts at once.)
So yeah, I have a Circle of Light infused ring and a Yakkington’s Ring infused also, both of which I’m unable to throw into the mystic toilet to attune them. Is there a way to work around this or has it just not been fixed it?
There is no current work-around for the original infused rings — these are the ones that originally came with an inherent +5 AR. Currently the only ones that can be attuned were those that were made/dropped later on, with an empty AI slot.
I am hoping that this will be fixed with the upcoming patch that re-adjusts a bunch of things for fractals. (Although I don’t remember seeing any specific confirmation of this by ANet.)
