I use the ‘glitter’ to convert the non-combat boosts to karma booster; I use it whenever I’m in a low-level fractal. The MF is useful during target-rich farming events, such as halloween, orr, etc.
The combat boosts can be converted to whichever is most useful to you. I find the speed booster is excellent for new characters, for map completion, and in WvW, especially for profs that don’t have a lot of natural mobility (e.g. mesmers).
Now, that’s not exactly what the OP asks for, but it’s a lot better than have 10 slots devoted to boosters.
Or elementalist conjure weapons, especially frost bows.
It worked, thank you. What a strange bug though.
It affects just about anything that is account bound, even sometimes after splitting a stack.
You don’t get the achievement for opening JP chests; you get it for stepping in the right spot. If your toon remains up there, try walking around the spot near the chest etkittenil you get it.
People who benefited from the bug already have all the titles they can get from it,
In her post, she mentioned that one of the goals is to change that, before re-enabling the HoM NPC.
The lesson to be learned here is: when you want to check the price of an item from your inventory, click the ‘Buy More…’
Not necessarily. The biggest mistake I’ve made was doing that and accidentally buying 3 of something expensive at the lowest seller price.
The main lesson is to take your time, especially when the TP is lagging.
Does America still have the totally backwards system where goods are listed minus taxes on the shelves?
I think they are the only country that does that, if so. Absolutely ridiculous.
The US has a tiered government system, so you’ve got multiple layers of potential taxation (city, township, county, state, federal). It’s primarily due to that that prices are listed before tax. And yes, it is ridiculous since it’s really just stores being too lazy to update their stickers.
It’s not laziness. On the contrary, small and big business owners have long lobbied for laws that allow them to do this. They fear that sales will go down if they include taxes in the prices.
And for a variety of reasons, some consumers prefer it this way. (I’m at a loss to explain it, but I’ve seen ballot measures to change the price displays lose time and again.)
you really expect people on a random map to capture random people pulling abno to the battery on a video?
Of course I don’t expect this. I understood you to say it wasn’t random, that a specific person (or small group) was deliberately trolling a specific guild.
Based on your posts on other topics, I would tend to trust your instincts: you noticed something troubling about the behavior of specific people at specific events. And would like to know what, if anything, can be done.
My recommendation remains the same: provide documentation to ANet that will trigger an investigation. It isn’t your job to prove there’s an issue; it’s theirs. Your task is to make it easy for them to decide those actions warrant a closer look.
Good luck.
…maybe because gw1 titles were a lot harder to get.
That is not my memory. Titles in GW1 were either trivial or grindy as heck.
- Each of the faction/reputation titles requires repeating identical content.
- Consumption titles involved tons of double-clicking and an egg timer (drunkard), although updates in the last 2-3 years made them easier.
- Luck/Unlucky required even more repetition and grind than reputation. Or you sat AFK during festivals.
- Wisdom requires manual identification of 10,000 golds. That’s 10,000 clicks, without managing the resulting inventory.
Most of these have equivalents in GW2: drunkard (lots of clicking), Cartographer (much simpler in GW2)
IMO, the only titles that were “difficult” rather than tedious/time-consuming were:
- Skill hunter, basically a scavenger hunt, on par with unlocking the cultural armors in GW2.
- Guardian/Protector titles, which required completing all the missions in each campaign, roughly equivalent to Dungeon Master in GW2.
- Cartographer, which was tedious too, but did require you master certain techniques. That learning process was interesting (although, of course, you had to keep going forever).
- Survivor — done the ‘hard’ way, an interesting title. (Done the grindy way, not as bad as the others.)
- Some of the PvP titles.
tl;dr the titles in GW1 took longer to get, but they weren’t any harder to get than the ones here. They took endurance and strong bladders rather than skill.
The “imbalance” is almost entirely due to the fact that, as Wanze says, cloth is required for all three weights of armor. This influences the price of linen, too.
It’s only a “problem” if you think that all items of similar tiers ought to be priced roughly the same. That sort of “balancing” takes a lot of energy to maintain — some MMOs even have an algorithm to dynamically adjust drop rates to do this, but it tends to make things harder on everyone (less predictability = more volatility and more frustration).
I wouldn’t mind if they changed the formulas for some insignia to use leather equivalents, so that the price of leather moves above vendor value. But that’s a mild preference, not even a recommendation (never mind a demand).
tl;dr there’s no “problem” except in our minds, thinking that things ought to be priced similarly because they seem similar to us.
Thanks for the tip, I had checked the wiki to see if it could have been DR but I guess the article there still needs some more info on it.
The community doesn’t have good info on DR, so I’m not surprised it hasn’t made it into the wiki for specific events.
- The wiki does have an article on Diminishing Returns
- A guild posted on reddit the results of testing doing a certain farm. They offer a plausible theory about kill counts (e.g. after X kills, you start getting worse loot; after X+Y, worse yet loot — to fix it, you go somewhere else and kill Z things).
The kill-count theory makes a lot of sense, but it doesn’t explain how/when/why DR affects events and event rewards. The wiki doesn’t mention kill counts, but it does discuss time and repetition.
Time spent near Rhendak completely explains the reduced karma (and absence of rewards) and why it can trigger after just a few fights or not until after two dozen. Since Rhendak can take 1-15 minutes per kill (waiting plus combat plus looting plus inventory management), the time adds up quickly.
I suspect — without sufficient evidence to back my claim — that it’s a combination of just about anything ANet could think of to reduce the rewards from narrow-focus farming, especially places/methods that could be easily botted.
- Kill count
- Time spent
- Repeated events
- Small ‘locus’ of combat (i.e. you don’t move much relative to a particular spot)
My theory is that DR triggers from any and any combination of above. And thus reversing means moving away from the farm area, the farther (and longer) the better. That’s why people go to WvW to remove Rhendak DR: it’s far and easy to spend an hour in the mists.
In practical terms, for Comrade Commissar, you could park say four toons (instead of six). When one hits DR, replace it from the bench.
I’ve been to a few events(teq/wurm) where a single troll almost made the events failed. (by luring monster to place where they shouldn’t be).
Is it a ban-able offence? and what is Anet stance on it. Like 1 single person ruining the fun of 100 people.
Record the evidence you can: time/date/screens. Videos if you can manage. Send in a ticket to ANet and let them review it. Stick to the facts and avoid hyperbole or dramatic background.
If you can show someone is repeatedly and deliberately trying to cause event failure, especially for a tricky cooperative event, ANet will take action. Sometimes, it will just be a black mark. Sometimes a warning or a suspension. Only in rare and/or egregious cases will they perma-ban the account.
ANet didn’t stop selling gem cards to either Target or Gamestop. That’s an individual decision by the various stores. I’ve seen people report about a dozen times that those two vendors stopped offering the cards…and each time, it turned out they were for sale a few weeks later. (I think what happens is that the clerks don’t really know; they just look to see if it’s in the computer on order and if they can’t find it, they say the stores don’t carry it any more.)
What usually happens is there are long periods where the store doesn’t sell any (or not many) and then suddenly there’s a rush. There’s no back order for something that doesn’t sell out often, so they end up with zero on hand and zero in the pipeline. Takes a few weeks for that to change.
Outfits have the advantage of being much simpler to design, implement, and test. It might take 3-10 times more effort to create a full armor set that looks ‘decent’ on all race/gender combinations.
The main advantage for armor — mixing/matching — is part of what makes it more costly, since it has to go with every other piece of armor in the game. In contrast, outfits only have to match themselves.
I’d rather have an extra outfit or two every so often then have to wait ages between armor sets.
The current balance between outfits and armor sets is pretty good for now, in my opinion.
edit: added “in my opinion” on the last line; apparently it was not obvious to everyone that I was speaking for myself.

I don’t think there are "too many hearts. But some of them are tedious, mostly the ones that require you take a form. I agree 15 bunnies isn’t very fun (although: turns out, you can do other things, too, for that one).
You could be suffering from Diminishing Returns. I know it affect Rhendak: after spending so much time in the same spot, you end up getting reduced rewards.
The easiest way to see if that’s happening to you is to review the base amount of karma gained (that shows up with the gold/silver/bronze medallion — not the karma actually gained, since that can be affected by buffs). In the case of Rhendak, the first impact of DR is a ~30% loss of karma + no ‘ground chest’ and no bonus chest (the bouncy one); you just get the boss bag.
If it’s DR, then you just need to take the toon out of the spot for about an hour (real time) so it wears off. The longer your toon stays around, the longer it takes DR to wear off. Also if you keep returning without letting it burn off all the way.
I handle Rhendak by alternating the characters parked there. Sometimes I can go 2-3 weeks without hitting DR, but sometimes it’s only 2-3 days.
Good luck and let us know what ends up working for you.

Another resource is guildwars2roleplaying.com.
(Transferring to a full server is more a matter of persistence: try 1-2x whenever you have a few minutes to spare, e.g. before/after breakfast, just before shutting down for the night, etc.)
What’s up with the “empty zone” message when it is clear it is nowhere near empty?
The actual message is:
There are few players remaining on this map. Would you like to move to a more populated version of this same map?
That is an accurate description of what’s going on: there are few players on the map compared to its capacity and it’s an option, not a requirement, to move to another map that already has more players.
As other posters have suggested, finish the fight and then move: best of both worlds, since you get the reward + the buff.
The game has always behaved this way. In effect, you are mailing your items to the TP, where they are held in escrow until they sell.
And while you think it’s “pretty not fun,” I enjoy getting to see the animation more often.
How? Just how do you “accidentally” do something like this? I’ve TPed many things… never ran into an issue like this. Accidentally clicked on sell to highest buy vs lowest sell, sure. But this? This takes effort to “accidentally” do….
I think someone explained it above: it’s a combination of delay between the TP opening and publishing the current WTB/WTS values, delays after clicking or typing numbers, and general latency…along with being in a rush.
If the TP loads fast for you, you’ll never notice even the possibility of this happening. If the TP loads slowly enough, you’ll wonder why it doesn’t happen to everyone every day.
My preventative habit is to (almost) never sell to an existing buyer nor accept an existing sell offer; that guarantees that I’m never clicking ‘buy’ or ‘sell’ before my computer has a chance to finish loading the TP data for the item in question. On my desktop, that’s no hardship at all; on my TP, it means proceeding very slowly indeed.
Did you know you can nickname any player on your friends list (or blocked list)? For example, if I first encountered Noavmatrix as The New Matrix while PUGging Ascalon Catacombs, I’d rename my new buddy as, “AC PUGger The New Matrix” — that reminds me of the original name we met & where, which is usually all the context I need to remember (and tbh, I am quite forgetful sometimes, as I meet a lot of people).
Can we get an update on GW1 Tickets?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781
That was posted a month ago and I’ve still received no reply.
It’s in regards to my lost gw1 account details and wanting to get it linked to my gw2 account.
The salient points are:
- The GW2 team will help with GW1 tickets if your accounts are linked.
(or seeking a link)
According to Michael Henninger
1179588 1
Everything marked with a 1 is for Guild Wars 1 and I don’t review those here. However; I am looking at policy to speed up our response times. This will involve upholding banned accounts under all circumstances so if you’re appealing a ban from 2010 you won’t see a response from us.
So for whatever reason, they seem to have tagged your ticket as a GW1 issue. Was it originally created as a Guild Wars 1?
- If it was, it might work better if you create a GW2 ticket, something like “trouble linking GW2 to GW1 account”.
- If it was originally created as a GW2 ticket, then just keep reminding them every week in the same thread, making the same point: “trouble linking GW2 to GW1 account”.
I’m sorry it’s taking so long. I see you have made several polite requests for an update; it must be extremely frustrating to have to be that patient.
RNG is never on your side for stuff that drops from gem shop items, including BL chests.
- 1,000 gems guarantees you a kit. If you time your conversion well, you can pick that up for 150 gold.
- There are lots of ways to earn gold and 10g/day is a reasonable (although conservative) goal. That means 2-3 weeks of daily effort to hit your target.
- Alternatively, 1,000 gems buys you a mere 11 keys, which has almost no chance of dropping a total make-over kit.
- Alternatively, you could do 6 key runs/day for 20 days, netting you 120 keys. That gives you roughly an 80% chance to get a BL Kit. (Assuming ~1.04% chance/kit, based on data from over 2000 kits that I collated from people posting results on reddit.)
tl;dr the least-effort method is to farm gold, convert to gems, and get the kit directly.
Alternatively, create a new character (as suggested above) or wait until you earn gold along the way or enough AP that you get a ‘free’ kit as a reward.
Good luck.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/GW2-Tickets-for-Review-7-days-older/4845309
This is has the most recent dev post on the topic. It reads:
Guild Wars 1 tickets.
If your ticket is login related we’re moving GW2 team members over to work on those. If it’s an appeal and your account was compromised we’ll get you back in. If it’s gameplay related you won’t get a response immediately but it will eventually direct you to the Guild Wars wiki.
Going forward all GW accounts with linked GW2 accounts (or seeking a link) will be handled by the GW2 team in order to speed things up.
Again – we only support game access and exploit reporting for Guild Wars. All other issues are no longer supported (game hints, bugs, etc.).
The salient points are:
- The GW2 team will help with GW1 tickets if your accounts are linked.
- They will help with game access (and deal with exploits), but not anything else.

There are some very valid comments here, and addressing concerns with facts may be the best way to do this. We always try to be the most open and honest with our community, so here it goes.
<snip>
You didn’t say anything about false positives.
ANet has killed accounts over false positives. I know, because it happened to my eldest daughter. Sure, ANet undid their action on her account, but it was, if nothing else, excessively annoying to be accused and banned completely falsely.
I commonly send my wife’s account hundreds of gold, which I either earn or buy with gems. Are those transactions going to be flagged by historically inaccurate algorithms?
I’d be more comfortable with direct, honest answers to those concerns.
There is no system in the world that completely avoids false positives. (Turns out to be a mathematical certainty.) Drug tests, polygraphs, chemical assays, and RMT tests — they all result in some amount of false positives. There’s a balance among time/effort, number of false positives, # of false negatives, ease of use, and implementation difficulty. ANet, like any other service provider, has to weight the pros/cons of each element of their system and for a business, that’s always going to mean erring on the side of catching as many as possible, while suffering a few falsely accused.
So all that’s left for them is making the inconvenience to those accused as small and short-lasting as possible.
I feel bad that your family was affected, but I’m not sure what else ANet could do to avoid it, outside of letting RMTs/botters/etc run rampant.
I too think that the daily cap of 10AP is worse than it was before. I enjoyed it how I always put in the effort to get the full 15 achievements from the daily so I earned more from that day than most other people. Now everyone gets at least 10 every single day which means I feel less competitive with others to beat them on AP. I am still an achievement hunter though and always get as many AP as I can however more of my time in game consists of running the same dungeons over and over instead of farming AP, which I enjoy more because it feels more rewarding in my opinion.
I think that’s partly the point: it was unnecessarily competitive before, and primarily favored people who had more time to spend rather than people who were more skilled.
I don’t understand the issue that the OP is trying to address. Not enough loot? Too much loot, but insufficient quality? Not earning enough coin? Too many things in the environment?
The game isn’t meant to mirror life on Earth; it creates a fantasy world, that happens to include magical chests that pop up all over. I happen to like this aspect, but on a practical basis, for ANet to revisit this at such a late date would mean a ton of work — and I think that effort would be more useful directed at things that affect everyone, instead of a small minority (who might be very passionate about the topic).
If they are invisible, how do you know they are there?
you serious… or trolling?
I’ll vote for trolling :P
Anyway, invisible walls are usually added to prevent map breaking, I’ve never “seen” an invisible wall in a regular path or in a place easily accessible.
there’s one on the route to the troll’s end JP chest, in the water, when you get to the first bend, after dropping down the well
I had a friend who thought ANet didn’t want us to use the JP anymore, because he didn’t see how to get through. It’s a wall, it’s invisible, it’s in a regular path, and it had nothing to do with map breaking.
Dear All,
I am not sure if this is truly a bug, but if you get killed while under the effect of omnomberry ghost, when you res the effect is gone, but the buff from the food is, of course, still active.
I have just been wondering if that is, how it is intended to work.
I hope, I have helped and thank you for your time.
Jouxy
Nourishment is designed to persist after zoning or death; visual effects are designed to expire on zoning or death.
So I believe it’s working as designed: two different types of effects, each doing their thing.
Plus, the current system means you aren’t disadvantaged enormously by only playing a few hours/week. Previously, it took longer to get 5 AP (from dailies + monthlies) than it does now to get 10 AP (from dailies).
The chest disappears after about 5 minutes. If you can’t loot it and you are suffering a lot of lag, it might be that you aren’t getting participation credit. When there’s latency between your computer and the server, you will sometimes think you are doing more damage than you really are.
Since GW2 doesn’t actually require “high speed” (just faster than dial-up), there might be something else going on with your connection. You can work with Customer Service to see if they can help you track it down.
The other thing that will help is to join a party, so that you don’t have to do as much damage to get credit.
…I found the solution was to exit into queensdale and enter divinities reach manually through the portal, which fixed it for me.
Clever idea. Can’t hurt to try (and only costs you a few loading screens).
You could also create a guild bank, put all your unbound gear there (and any coin). Then, if you change your mind later, you can raid the guild bank. (Plus, buying the influence to pay for quick guild storage will definitely eat up some of your coin.)
You aren’t “abusing” to report the same person multiple times, but (as Just a flesh wound says above) it’s unnecessary and creates extra work for Customer Service. They review the chat log before/after your report, so they’ll see it all. (If the disruptive behavior happens once and not again for 20-30 minutes, then maybe it might be worth a second report).
You might want to consider /blocking the person you are reporting. That way, you won’t have to worry about it if they continue.

…but why weren’t you guys handling RMT customers in the listed manner swiftly from the outset? What was the overall mindset behind the initial (and I know it’s a bad analogy but I can’t think of a better one), “slap on the wrist” approach?
- It’s a lot more expensive to track down customers; gold sellers are easier to find.
- Banning buyers is always trickier, because you have to worry about false positives, about having a reliable appeals process, and about treating everyone similarly.
It’s not so much about favoring “slap on the wrist” as it is about focusing limited resources where they are thought to do the most good.
There’s a similar mindset among formal law enforcement for all sorts of illegal activities: a lot of times, they go after drug buyers only to get leverage to go after dealers (I oversimplify, of course — the analogy doesn’t extend well.)
In any case, it almost doesn’t matter why they did whatever they did up until now. What matters is if they can do a good job of cutting off the supply and the demand for RMT; that should benefit us all.

Wait, I thought buying from RMT since launch has always been illegal? This is a new rule???
The rule is old. Previously, ANet concentrated attention on sellers. The announcement is that they are now cracking down on buyers.
Thanks, everyone.
Glad we could be of help. Good luck.
…is being able to turn into a non-combat Toxic Krait worth 23+ gold.
How can you put a price on slithering your way across Tyria? It’s priceless.
The Llama mini was setup specifically to be a sort of reward for attending an event in person, doing something for the community (e.g. some made available for people who made substantial contributions to the wiki), or similar reasons.
I don’t think it would be fair to current owners to now make the same mini available to anyone willing to part with gems, which after all, anyone in the game can acquire.
I do like the Mr Sparkles idea — in theory, spending gems could be considered a type of community support.
But I prefer if ANet stuck to making just a tiny few minis available only to a tiny fraction of the population.
The current system is working as designed. I agree that it might be better if there was a new system in place, but it’s not as simple as retooling the calculations. Further, we know that HoT (or around then), ANet will completely overhaul the WvW maps, so whatever match-ups we see now will be affected over time.
Post a suggestion in the WvW forum about how you’d like to address:
- Stale or repetitious match-ups week-to-week, month-to-month.
- Encouraging some players to move from ‘full’ T1/T2 servers to less-populated bottom-tier ones.
- Making Tx-1 server competitive with Tx, e.g. T1 servers generally roll over T2, so for now, it’s probably better that some match-ups remain stale. (Easy to see in NA T2, which has four servers; which ever gets matched with T3 dominates the week.)
First, personal stories are character bound, which is one reason why we can’t change races.
Second, the change to the personal story that was part of the NPE (New Player Experience) added level prerequisite, but failed to update the email trigger. In particular, you now need to be the minimum level for each ‘chapter’ of the story before you can start it, but you can get the email telling you about the next step sooner.
@ReV: you should try to work with Customer Service on this, if you want to confirm what’s going on. Alternatively, tell us which story you most recently completed and what level the affected character is and we might be able to help. You could also look at the wiki, which shows the relevant story steps and includes any level requirement.
@DarkJericho: I don’t think you are experiencing the same issue as ReV and maybe not the same as what Just a flesh wound. I would also recommend contacting Customer Service to get their assistance.
(Links to Support and the Wiki are on the top-left navbar.)
Good luck and please let us know what you discover.
Tried again with my mesmer alt, and it worked out. Yay I have my Mawdrey water!
Great! I’m glad that worked out for you. Thanks for letting us know.
There is a death penalty: each time you die, you have less health in subsequent downed states; die often enough in a short time and you will skip the downed state entirely. It used to cost coin to repair broken armor, but that really didn’t affect the meta; it just annoyed everyone equally.
On the whole, the biggest problem with the PvE meta is that the AI just isn’t smart enough for the current set of mechanics. Change that and everyone would find it more challenging.
Thanks for the replies. Looks like I’ll need to take a few minutes and have a look at each item and treat them accordingly. Many of the Exotics I get are the named ones. Cobalt, Bonetti’s Rapier, Truth etc. I guess that perhaps the skin might have more value than the Sigil on the weapon. I assume that I should always get the Sigil using the BLSK that I can sell for coin. Since I don’t have the time or inclination to buy to salvage, I should be ok.
That sounds like a decent plan.
Plenty of L68+ exotics will instantly sell for below 80 silver these days. So I sell any exotics that go for more than that.
If you find yourself running out of Dark Matter, then start putting in buy offers for those cheaper ones: 50-60s will do it for low-demand armor (or you can be even more aggressive).
We have ‘plenty’ of holidays in the game, but I would be pleased to see more.
The original launch of GW1 didn’t include that many either. Some holidays were added over time.
Incidentally: events aren’t cheap to add. They require a lot of new artwork, programming, event mechanics, associated QA, etc. So each new event means some other feature won’t be added to the game.
They could just make it easier for you to see how the character would actually look in game. But I like Xdmatt’s suggestion even better: give us an option to change the look again before leaving the ‘tutorial’.
The game originally had random spawn times for all bosses. It was different in each instance and each world was tied to a specific instance.
It was bad. People would crowd the maps for popular worlds to ensure enough people to make the event easy, which would mean: first come/first served, but last to arrive was out of luck.
The current ‘egg timer’ + mega server (always room for one more map) might be dull by comparison, but it’s a lot more fair to the community. Plus, plenty of guaranteed-loot events are still random, notably the Orrian temples, Ogre Wars, Commissar, Rhendak, etc
(That said, I wish they would alter the schedule from time to time or change which are the ‘minor’ world bosses or others add some variety.)
Someone recently suggested to include an NPC that would allow us to preview the kit features. (GW1 had this, although that was the only mechanism for changing character appearance; there was no kit.)
Alternatively, they could add it into the wardrobe and sell ‘appearance charges’ instead of kits.
This is brutal. EVERYTHING is taken.
Um, no. Not everything is taken. And I’m not sure why you think it’s ‘brutal.’ Maybe look upon it as a new challenge.
If I’m not in love with my character’s name, I get such a bad taste in my mouth when I go to level, and I inevitably become severely disheartened and lose interest. That toon will never see 80. :[
I get that; it’s not crazy to want a great name (instead of just acceptable or even just good).
I can’t be the only person that feels this way. It just sucks. :[
I doubt your the only one who cares about having a stellar name; you could be the only one who feels it’s impossible to find one.
Keep in mind that something over 3-4 million accounts exist for the game. If just a million of these created just 5 characters each, that’s 5 million names. That’s steep competition.
I would hope that would inspire the creative juices for someone that is passionate about names.
