Can the Birthday Blaster go account bound?

Illconceived Was Na.9781

As Danikat said: everything else is either an account bound reward or it’s a level up scroll; the Blaster is the only item that is soulbound.

Besides that, it’s not all that useful, since there are plentiful foods that are more powerful (and cheaper/easier to use) for L80s, whereas nothing close to it for lowbie toons. Although, perhaps that’s the point — ANet maybe doesn’t want veteran players to have such an OP option when new players do not. (However, if that’s true, why are the cakes produced by the blaster usable by anyone?)

Regardless of how we got to this status quo, the fact is that the birthday blaster is clutter for a lot of us; it’s not anymore useful than the extra Mini Queen Jennah, but takes up more space, because it’s not stackable and because it’s soul-bound.

Asking for API key's

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Why would it be against the ToS? It’s no different from asking people to ping gear, but it’s 100% reliable (whereas gear links aren’t). If you don’t accept the requirements of the group, join a different one (or start your own).

I generally would agree with Blaeys: don’t share if it’s really not necessary.

PS the are also a couple of options so you’re not “oversharing”.

  • Create the API key to show only builds, characters, inventory.
  • Enter the key into GW2 Efficiency
  • From there, grab a link for the specific character who will participate in the raid/etc.
  • Share that link rather than the API

That limits the amount of detail to which the others have access, so it’s a compromise between the extremes of giving them everything and not joining because you won’t give them anything.

Spam report I gave

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Well, seeing as you only reported the person after you were kicked makes it seem like sour grapes, rather than a serious concern on your part to protect the integrity of the game.

I don’t see a technical issue with reporting someone who spams /map or /squad for either spamming or (in this case) scamming. You shouldn’t expect any sort of immediate action: first, it’s a minor issue. At worst, it’s annoying, but it’s not as if the commander was preventing people from succeeding at the task. Second, ANet tends to give people extra chances, so the first response might just be to make a note. If it’s a pattern by the person, they might send them a warning. That usually prevents future issues.

in short, sure, report people for spamming if you think it’s bad for the game; try not to do it because you’re personally upset by the individual

Guess “elitists” want to know as many details as possible in order to prepare for the expansion

That’s not the only reason. Casuals are worried about changes to the loot system and how some skills work. (And I used a deliberately-vague term to cover all sorts of people.)

I think it’s a bit naive to expect that ANet is going to have time to communicate much about any of our individual concerns or to equate “ANet isn’t saying much” with “ANet isn’t doing much” or even “ANet isn’t paying attention.”

As always, they’ll address the issues they see as critical and postpone dealing with some stuff and disagree with us and still other things. And, as always, they’ll let the game speak for itself.

Currently, only one popular DPS meter is considered to be “safe”:

  • ArcDPS by DeltaConnected

There are other meters out there, some less popular, some almost certainly violating one or more aspects of the ToS (Terms of Service).

PS there’s no guarantee that Arc will remain compliant. Clearly, its developer intends to stay on the “acceptable” side of the line, but they might not always be around or ANet might change requirements or… who knows. As with any 3rd party tool: use it with caution.

Expansion QOL improvements?

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Anet has a particularly bad habit of arbitrarily deciding what is and isn’t a priority to the detriment of the game.

These weren’t arbitrary decisions and there’s a very strong argument that these were better for the game/community than the alternatives

LW season 1

I’m not sure if you mean having an LS1 or the fact that it was temporary content or the fact that they weren’t prepared for the game’s popularity (and so suffered from server issues).

However, it was hardly an arbitrary decision to include it in the game. The entire plan was in place prior to launch.

Or maybe you mean that they haven’t entirely rewritten it so it can be brought back as repeatable content. That, too, wasn’t arbitrary in the least — the effort & people involved is comparable (if not identical) to those devoted to new living stories and they decided that more people would like to see new content than there are those who want to see old content (especially since it can’t possibly meet our over-hyped expectations at this point).

Townclothes tonics

This, too, wasn’t an arbitrary decision. It was spend extra time re-designing for the Wardrobe (by making a light|medium|heavy version of the relevant clothing, each of which has its own set of issues) or indefinitely postponing the conversion so they could release the wardrobe sooner rather than later.

Ranger pets

Again, not an arbitrary decision to require rangers to use pets. It might not meet your idea of a “ranger”; it meets other people’s concept though.

Dungeons

Presumably you are talking about ANet’s decision to drop support for dungeons. Again, that wasn’t arbitrary. They looked at trying to keep them modernized and recognized it would mean rewriting much of the original code/design. Fixing old content when the same resources could be spent on new content seems like a waste to a lot of people.

And they didn’t double down on it, they actually redid the rewards so that dungeons are more rewarding now if you speedclear and about equally rewarding as before if you don’t (but still continue to do 8 unique paths).

tl;dr none of the examples cited were “arbitrary” decisions or a “bad habit”

I’m not at all sure why build templates haven’t yet made it into the game and I think ANet’s misjudged the need: there are so many ways they could make build swapping easier for us.

But let’s not exaggerate the situation. Not liking a decision isn’t the same as considering it arbitrary or even a mistake.

Support for more bank tabs

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Here are three reasons that someone might be against ANet adding additional bank storage:

  • Making it easier to hoard means more items are removed from circulation, affecting TP prices.
  • Adding storage space means players can postpone dealing with inventory management problems, which has a minor impact on those of us who play with “hoarders” — initial it gets better, but then later it gets even worse as it becomes more difficult for folks to find stuff (while participating in group/party activities).
  • This isn’t the only data-storage related issue that people would like addressed, so prioritizing this means some other highly-requested QoL issue gets a backseat. For example, maybe it would be better for ANet to find ways to store/stack things differently so folks didn’t feel the need to use as many slots for hoarding.

So there are reasons to be against the idea.

I don’t really care that much about them, though. I don’t think any have all that big an impact on the community overall or gameplay or ANet’s future plans.

Which is why I reply the same way to this thread each time it comes up (apparently about 1-2 times per month these days): I’ll buy any new tabs that become available, while at the same time, I’m convinced that it won’t actually help most people all that much — without changing inventory management tactics, the same folks will run into the same brick wall of lack of space again.

The first thing you should do is create a support ticket.
https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new

Best case: you figure out a solution without ANet’s help. Worst case: you don’t and they help you.

Second, you should keep in mind that the 1000s of people (if not 10000s or more) seem to be using it just fine. So whatever is going on probably is related to your computer or OS or other software — it’s much less likely to be a problem with the Sanctuary itself.

Of course, that’s not an acceptable state for you. It does, however, mean you should give ANet a chance to work with you first. Especially since if the MS crashes your game, there might be other area that will also do that.

While you wait for a response from ANet, consider trying the following:

  • Tune your graphics settings down to a minimum.
  • Turn character models to minimum quality & minimum number.
  • Try entering with a different character.

You can update your ticket with the details either directly or by replying to the initial (automated) email sent by ANet.

tl;dr create a support ticket; whatever is going on isn’t happening for everyone and they’ll need to work with you directly.

PS the ticket queue is current backed up due to interest in PoF, so please be patient.

Are there any plans for smaller guild halls?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Building a hall with a 10-person guild isn’t necessarily harder than doing it with a 250-member guild. With only 10, everyone knows that it’s up to them to help out if they want to see anything. With 250, there’s often 240 (or more) convinced that someone else will donate this or that (because often there is).

Keep in mind that guild improvements & decorations are permanent — these are one-time expenditures that last as long as the guild does. In that context, it would be surprising if the costs were lowered significantly.

Inappropriate NPC Name

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Don’t people read or do they just troll.

Or, you know, they just don’t agree with you that there’s an issue requiring ANet’s attention and are offering you what they hope are useful suggestions.

My point is being lost in the discussions.

Or, you know, people don’t agree with your point.

NO ONE should have to adjust their filters to permit a NPC NAME.

I’m not sure why you think anyone has to adjust in this case. “Fion” is an actual name in English. It’s only in French that it’s a vulgarism and in the French version of the game, the NPC is Fionn.

I’m going to repeat that since I think some people missed the facts:

My intent was to bring this to the attention of the developers. …Translated, the name FION is A## HOLE.

Sure, and “bunny” is also slang for something we won’t discuss here, as well as “cookie” and “meat” and, well, there’s just an entire set of words that can be treated as vulgarisms if you dig a little.

THE NAME IS INAPPROPRIATE BY GW2 STANDARDS.

No, it’s not. It’s inappropriate in French, but it’s not used in the French version of the game.

Its clear that this is a mute point; they really don’t care and have double standards.

It’s not at all clear to me that it’s a moot point. You keep insisting that this is an issue and ignore all the replies from others explaining why they disagree.

There’s no such thing as a completely clear line between permissible and inappropriate. Most cases will be obvious, but a significant fraction will be judgment calls. The forum moderators might decide to be overly conservative because what’s posted here is semi-permanent, whereas what appears in /map is transient. Similarly, character names would also need to have extra restrictions.

Albeit, I don’t believe this was intentional. As I have stated in the OP, and others have commented, some truly inoffensive names are deemed inappropriate when creating characters and yet here is a NPC name that the game filters as such. AND, CAN BE CLEARLY OFFENSIVE (to some) when translated.

It’s good that you see that deciding what names to restrict is an art not a science and that folks won’t always get it right.

Just because something can be translated doesn’t mean the name should be considered offensive in English.

Odd fact. Fionn (with 2 "n"s) or Fiona are the “proper” use of the name and translate to “Fair, White” or “Vine”

Well that’s by far the more common usage; it’s not as if there’s any official board of name certification that determines what is or what isn’t allowed. (Well, at least not in the US. There has been in other countries, including France.)

Otherwise, we wouldn’t have Ayden, Izobel, Khloe, Zakkery, Rayan, etc.

tl;dr the fact is that “Fion” is a perfectly acceptable name in English; it’s only in French that it’s vulgar and the NPC is named “Fionn” in the French version. Not everyone agrees that makes it problematic for the English version.

Those who look will find inconsistencies in policy across names, chat filters, and forums because each medium has different requirements and because filtering is part art, part science, & part personal taste.

It’s fine to let ANet know your opinion; it’s not fine to insist that it’s the only possible way to look at things.

People are really letting those nostalgia googles blind them if they think LWS1 was “amazing” with “great gameplay and story”.

I remember it being much worse, extremely laggy and with Scarlet “lorebreaker” Briar constantly involved.

It was amazing, with a story no better or worse than what we have now (some great characters and voice actors, some not so much). Part of what made it amazing was that it was new, it was fast, it was furious and 2-4 weeks later, it was new, fast, and furious again.

The pace depending on an entire studio working together and the content being temporary. They only had to worry about the mechanics of the moment, not whether a special skill or tactic would be appropriate even a month later. Even bugs could be left alone, unless they affected the current content.

And that also explains why we suffered lag, since everyone joined back on the same days.

(Scarlet, of course, generates polarizing opinions. She’s my favorite major villain in the franchise; some people thought she was the worst.)

tl;dr LS1 was amazing (and was also buggy and annoying). Regardless, whatever it was isn’t likely to be replicated by LS4 or beyond.

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Have stated in the past, luck should be unlimited, just after reaching current max have each next implement cost more and reduce the total gain. Instead of a full percent it is a tenth of one and each of those are double the last requirement in cost. That way there is diminishing return but still be something for people to work towards.

Sure, something like that would work — the point is that the luck required for each new point of MF increases semi-linearly now except for the last 80 or so points, which require the same amount of luck.

By changing it to any sort of exponential or geometric function, there would still be a practical limit; there just would no longer be a theoretical one.

i.e. as Grimm suggests, there would always be something to work for.

It’s unlikely to happen. Luck was always intended to be something to pursue as an option. Once ANet starts introducing additional sinks (for those of us lucky to have maxed it out), it puts pressure on people to acquire more luck, i.e. it would no longer be ‘optional’. This would also have some economic impact, as it would encourage people to salvage more than they already do, raising the TP prices of fine and masterwork gear.

How about requiring every character to display one aura? Doesn’t sound right, does it? But that’s hardly different from limiting everyone to a single aura.

If you want to make an argument about strain on the server affecting performance on some systems, I’d be more sympathetic (although I think it probably doesn’t have as much impact as we think it does). If you want to argue for limits based on aesthetics, well, ANet would have to remove bunny ears, wings, half the gliders, all skulls and sharp objects from light armor, and… well, ultimately about 90% of the wardrobe.

BUGGED QUESTS!

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

All of these events work but they also have bugs & quirks that make completion wonky. Of course ANet should do something to make them reliable or divorce them from legendary collections, but… in the meantime:

General Advice

  • Try to get in a fresh map:
    • Visit at reset or ideally right after ANet publishes an update to the game.
    • Otherwise, rep a different guild from usual and ‘guest’ (not transfer) to a full server and try again.
    • A final alternative is when the map is the object of the 4-event daily; there are usually multiple versions spawning during prime time hours.
  • Don’t ever wait more than 10 minutes or so. It’s possible the event just started a cooldown
    • You can sometimes find that out via /map chat.
    • These can last 20-30 minutes and you probably have better things to do with your time.
    • Especially since there’s rarely a useful way to distinguish a broken event from one that has stalled temporarily (and/or can be ‘shoved’ into activity), or that is on cooldown.

SPECIFIC ADVICE
Put a stop to the Mighty Oouo
Park a toon right at Oouo’s spawn point and swap to that toon whenever you have 10 minutes to spare. Check the upper right corner for the status of the meta which consists of the following events:
Defeat the Grawl CommanderEscort the Order of WhispersStop Oouo

  • If it hasn’t started, head to White Paper Hill to start it
  • If it’s active, proceed to the relevant step and help move it forward.
  • If it’s none of the above, don’t bother waiting long (see ‘General Advice’ above); come back another time.

Stop Captain Wiley before he finishes scouring the ship for treasure
This event is also part of a chain, the status of which can be checked locally.
Prevent Wiley et al from stealing treasureStop Wiley et al from scouring

From the wiki: “cursory research seems to imply that he does indeed have a weird respawn schedule…it seems that he won’t respawn until his event does, even if he was killed in his chilling-in-Wiley’s-Cove form.”

In other words, if he’s killed in his cave (e.g. by someone doing the local heart), he might not reappear for a while. Essentially you have to wait out the cooldown of the chain, even though there’s no chance to participate.

Or as practical advice: park a toon nearby. If the event(s) are up, participate; otherwise, leave your character there and come back again later.

Defeat the fire shaman and his minions
You’ll have to be more specific about why you think this event is bugged. I’ve participated successfully several times since ANet last adjusted it.

(I’m not saying it’s not bugged; I just can’t document any details because I haven’t seen an issue.)

The general advice still applies: park a toon locally, try to get on a fresh map, and don’t wait around (you do have better things to do).

ABOUT BUGS
If you want ANet to fix this, help them to help us by giving them more info. The simplest way to do this is by typing /bug and filling out a report. Include as much detail as you can. If all you have done is wait around for 30 minutes, then say that.

By using the in-game tool, ANet automatically finds out about where you are and when you were trying. They can compare to the logfiles to see what was (or was not) happening at the same time.

Ideally, you can help them further by doing some investigation on your own and giving them details, e.g. you tried on 3 different worlds so include the three IP addresses (command: /ip). Or perhaps you visited the starting location for the event chain and found the triggering NPC to be unresponsive.

Without details like that, ANet wouldn’t even know where to start, so it might take them ages to track down the issue, let alone start to figure out how to fix it.

tl;dr park a toon, swap often (ideally after reset/updates), and don’t wait around. Eventually, the event will work and you just need it to succeed once.

Ranger class kicked from WvW and PvE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Not every class/build is viable for all content.

Try not to use the world “viable” to make your case — the word gets used differently by different people.

The core idea is that not all builds are equally useful or efficient. With limited time to organize a squad that is “on the move”, commanders (and their lieutenants) are going to want to simplify (or even oversimplify) the task as much as they can. Since they can’t easily check your build or your experience, they’ll look at what they can see: your profession. If you’ve chosen a prof that is almost always less useful to a coordinated squad, they’ll drop you in favor of someone who demonstrates knowledge by bringing a preferred class.

So while it might not be literally true that “rangers are useless in WvW,” it’s true enough that they are “not useful enough” for that particular group at that particular time.

In other words, ask not what the squad should do for you; rather ask what you can do for the squad.

Commander Tag

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Illconceived Was Na.9781

For the sake of argument, let’s ignore the OP’s specific suggestions about price or AP and focus on their goal: requiring a demonstration of competence/knowledge before allowing someone to obtain a commander tag.

That seems like it could be a good idea — people shouldn’t command unless they have show that they know the content and/or know how to lead.

However, since that hasn’t been required for five years, there are probably half a million accounts that already have a commander tag — changing the requirements today won’t make any of those people suddenly more competent.

Besides that, we also know that most people become good at leading by, you know, leading. Some people are naturals at it, so they reach their peak more quickly; some struggle and it takes them longer, learning from their mistakes. And every leader can get better.

So perhaps it would be better to lower the requirements and provide more opportunities for more people to practice commanding, rather than create some artificial floor that proves nothing and discourages some potential leaders from even trying.

tl;dr leadership can’t be “proven” by gold or achievements; good commanders demonstrate that they are good only after tagging up.

Suggestion - VB Currency Adaptation

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

AB is the faster for me, but that’s because I’m lazier than Vayne or Ayrilana — I do an event here or an event there and it’s simply easier for me to find those quickly in AB as I run to do something else.

When I’m actively pursuing events, VB is far faster for increasing the amount of “keys” and “currency”.

But all of that is moot, really. The OP is asking for all the maps to be more alike in mechanics and I’m against that completely. I like that each map has its own system; it makes things more interesting.

Q: About WvW Guild Missions Multi Server

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

You shouldn’t need to be on the same server generally for g-mish. However, some of the missions have a requirement that at least 3 members be actively repping and participate in the same event. It might be that you need at least one group of 3 on each world to trigger the threshold for participation.

Of course I will buy/use more bank storage if it’s offered.

But… it’s likely that the vast majority of people who think they need more space can address the issue more effectively by taking an hour or two to develop new inventory management tactics. The “best” way to increase storage space is by storing less in the first place.

It’s not clear to me what you are asking for other than I should mark your words without laughing.

Here are some things that we do know about ANet’s medium term plans:

  • They are intending to release Living World story updates on the same 2-3 month cadence for the foreseeable future, i.e. they already have the next 2-3 years mapped out for this.
  • Expansions will be part of this release cycle, probably occurring every 7th or 8th update, with slightly more time on either side (e.g. sometimes closer to 4 months before and after the expac).
  • Currently, they are not working on a sixth playable race. While it might happen “some day”, that day won’t be within the next 2-3 years.
  • They are not working on underwater combat currently, but they have been more cagey about their responses saying, “wait and see”. However, in the immediate future, we know that they aren’t releasing aquatic weapons as part of weapon sets, fixing revenant for underwater, or reconciling traits, runes, and skills (especially elites) for underwater. In other words: it’s not going to be ‘soon’.

In short, we should expect

  • 2-3 months between story updates, 3-4 months when it’s an expac;
  • No new playable races
  • Problematic underwater combat for a while.

Some people have a theory that it’s because of the beta characters as being unable to change servers this way only stopped very recently.

It’s true that the game still “thinks” those characters are on your account. That they still exist can be easily checked via the API or more easily by using a site such as GW2 Efficiency to list all your existing characters.

Order of Secrets shoulders missing

The mantle was removed in 2015

The Whispers Mantle was removed from the set after the wardrobe was released because it was completely covered by the Whisper’s Secret Cowl and therefore had no skin of its own.

Whisper’s Mantle article on the wiki

Whispers Mantle was a piece of light armor offered to players who have joined the Order of Whispers during their personal story. When the wardrobe was released, the Whispers Mantle was removed from the game and replaced by a pair of Apprentice Shoulders with identical stats. The reason for its removal is likely because the Whisper’s Secret Cowl always covered up all shoulder armor, and consequently the Mantle never had a skin of its own.

It doesn’t appear to be a bug, so it’s not something that needs to be “fixed”. There’s no particular need to require people to pay extra to unlock a skin that can’t be seen, when there are plenty of other should pieces that can be used.

I have that, too, at times. I believe it is a server-sided issue (when there are a lot of people connected at the same time).

There are all sorts of reasons a website can be slow to load and given how many people use the TP, some of those reasons will affect some players about the same time. Coincidence is a more likely explanation of several people experiencing TP delays at the same time.

I have noticed when doing the heart of thorns missions with a group if i am not the one who started the mission i do not get a mastery point that i should even if i get credit. Has any one else seen this or know of a work around?

Which HoT story? Was your character at the same point in the story as the initiator’s? Did you accept credit at the end?

Which achievements? Some require an individual contribution (or avoidance of something) by the relevant character.

Suggestion/bug: Mystic Forge & Invisible bags

I actually like this ‘feature’ because it allows me to store ‘pending for mystic forge’ items in the same character until I’m ready to forge a bunch in a row, without fear that I’ll accidentally salvage, TP, or vendor.

That said, I agree with the OP that it’s inconsistent with how invisible bags work in every other interface. I’d be okay with finding another solution for myself if/when ANet gets around to reconciling this.

With regards to the OP’s other remarks:

We’d all like to know the status of our pet suggestions or requests; ANet staff can’t possibly respond to us all.

I can all but guarantee you that this won’t be addressed before PoF launches (unless they had already planned to do so). The only things ANet will be working on for the next 6-8 weeks are: PoF, PoF bugs, new Raids/Fractals (different team), other timely bugs. They won’t be adding anything from the list of “we should get around to doing this someday” suggestions because they have too much stuff going on.

Certain browser plug-ins will interfere with the TP, because they (the 3rd party apps) try to be helpful by applying settings to all browsers. Since the TP (via Coherent_UI.exe) is just a browser built in to the game, it can be affected.

So you can try clearing out the browser’s cache. Or set a different browser temporarily as your default — if that makes the problem go away, your work is cut out for you.

But before you do any detective work, start a support ticket. ANet’s tech folks are usually quite good at helping players resolve exactly this sort of thing. If you happen to succeed on your own, great — close the ticket. If not, you’ll be in the queue to get help sooner.

Um, you probably deleted this character already, but how old this character is? I would keep it for birthday presents.

Agreed. It’s worth 210-250 gold to keep an older character — some of the dyes you can unlock for 3rd, 4th, and 5th birthdays are worth more (sometimes much more).

No quest progress from Veteran Kingpins?!

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Killing a kingpin doesn’t progress the daily. Participating in an event that requires the killing of a specific veteran kingpin does.

The wiki’s bald statement is correct: the relevant foe involved in Kill the unchained kingpin is a veteran kingpin; the issue is that the wiki doesn’t clarify the subtle differences between the two interpretations of the daily’s description.

Some veteran kingpins are unattached to any event. Some are attached to various other events. Those do not count for the daily. It has to be a vet kingpin that is the target of the specific event labeled, “Kill the unchained kingpin”; nothing else will do.

I usually don’t bother; one can gain similar rewards with less effort by ignoring this daily and assisting in re-powering the shrines.

[Feedback] Voice acting + dialogue

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Illconceived Was Na.9781

There is no such thing as the “same quality of dialogue” or “same quality of voice acting” …“like we used to in the old days” because even in the old days it was a mixed bag. Some of the dialogue in the old days (and some of the voice acting) was horrid. Some of it was fantastic. Some people love some voice actors, not others. Some people hate the same parts of the story that I really enjoyed.

“Normal pace, neat enunciation, and cultivated vocabulary and parlance”
I don’t consider any of that to be part of “good dialogue”. People who grew up on the streets often don’t have cultivated vocabularies, smart people don’t always enunciate.

For me, the game is much richer (and more immersive) if different people speak differently.

Suggestion: Chak Egg Sac

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

There are three ways to obtain the sac:

  • Get lucky after running TD meta (that’s the actual source for all the eggs in circulation and there are more than the OP thinks).
  • Wait your turn in the TP queue (more sell via the TP than the OP thinks)
  • Use something like GW2 Exchange and a trusted middleman (of which there are several) or buy from a trust source — there are several who have a reputation to uphold; they are less likely to run away with your money than you are to forget to pay them.

I see no reason that this needs to change.

Mind you, I’d be happy if it did, because I love collecting auras and 10-15k is more than I’m willing to spend. But in the meantime, I don’t see anything wrong with super rare items in the game; it makes things more interesting.

One of the reason that there’s a time gate on certain recipes is to artificially increase the value of the products. Deldrimor dowels are worth more than the metal and wood that goes into making it precisely because we can only make mithrilium and spirit wood 1x/day.

I thought season 1 items weren't coming back

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Of course, the specific rewards and achievements will not return since those are intended to be completed as the story unfolds, but the content itself will be used to expand out our fractals experience and serve as a place to continue to experience great (and strange) moments in history.

I don’t see any “promise”.. I see CJ making a statement about the company’s plans releasing rewards. He even says “as those are intended” — intent, not “we promise never to do anything different.”

At best, there’s a reasonable case that ANet was saying that rewards wouldn’t return as non-content and (as some argued above), RNG boxes might not be considered as content.

But look at the alternative: here’s a bunch of items that were completely unobtainable or limited to a tiny number of souls who thought ahead (and invested/hoarded) or a tinier number who held on to a few for other reasons. Is it in the best interests of the community that these items should never return the game, given that ANet has no plans to release LS1 as a replayable storyline?

ANet’s made it clear over and over again that there are no guarantees about the market value of items. They reserve the right to change recipes, introduce superceding items, change mechanics, or otherwise make obsolete or common that item you were holding onto until it reached 3k in gold
